Explain the basic: Oils
Check out Part 1, which explains how to use the things down below. Disclaimer: All the things in this post are based on research and personal experience. As much as I could be a teacher, I suggest you find many resources for knowledge to develop your own experiences. Make sure you research the oils you buy/use because some oils can damage or hurt your skin in a really bad way. as well as some aromatherapy oils that can hurt your pet (if you have one).

Hello babyyyyy
What do you think Loki would smell like? Would he have his own personal.scent so different from others? Would his scent linger in a room and you would know he was there?
Tumblr media
Innnnnnteresting. So there's the my classic 'forests' which, I stand by - and I'm sure there's been various candle-sounding scents over the years but something I've discovered recently is Oud. So I have a jo malone cologne which is Myrrh & Tonka which is SO LOKI CODED OH GOD I spray it on myself and just go...yes šŸ¤£ But there always has to be a frame of reference you know, and I feel like those are not common, relatable scents. But there we are. Maybe I'll work it in for Rite! Loki.
I also have a mini HC that his hands always smell a bit like fennel/herbs because he has a little herb garden in Asgard and everyone thinks its cute when they find out, until they realise what he brews with them.
What do you think? :)

We're here, we're queer, and we cannot be legislated out of existence šŸ³ā€šŸŒˆāœØ
The Luminis Candle Co 2023 Pride Collection is being released on June 1 at 12:00 pm (Pacific time), and you can find it all on www.luminiscandleco.com!!!! This year's Pride candle lineup includes 8 scents, 7 of which are brand new!
Scent information and additional details under the cut!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nonbinary: This is the only one that's the same as last year: a lovely aromatic blend featuring gentle English lavender top notes, a heart of sweet Meyer lemon, and a base of vanilla and tonka bean.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pansexual: A playful blend with aldehydic top notes of bergamot, sweet orange, and apple, unfolding into heart notes of rich honey nectar and toffee. White musk forms a gentle base.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Polyamorous: Fresh and clean with citrus and mint top notes. A heart of lavender, green accord, and sandalwood blends into a soothing base of cedarwood, amber, and musk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lesbian: An effervescent, feminine blend that opens with sweet apple, raspberry, and sparkling champagne. Lily, jasmine, and peach heart notes follow, supported by coconut and sugar base notes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Asexual: Herbal and aromatic. Top notes of lemon and cyclamen give way to a heart of sage, lavender, rosemary, and thyme. Base notes of eucalyptus leaf and green musk tie the blend together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LGBTQ+/Rainbow: Oceanic but not overwhelming, this scent begins with marine and green accords, followed by herbaceous notes, dry woods, and a strong note of sea salt. Leather, cedarwood, and smooth black pepper form a lingering base.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Transgender: A sweet, blush blend. Raspberry and mandarin top notes blend seamlessly into a heart of rose, lychee, and red currant, which in turn lead to a captivating base of oud, benzoin, and sheer musk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bisexual: Sweet with a little spice, this striking blend starts with ozone and chili pepper, mellowed out by a heart of mandarin, guava, and orange. Coconut and peppercorn round out the scent.
All candles are decorated with eco-friendly glitter made from sustainably and ethically sourced plant material that biodegrades in a wastewater environment. Testing was conducted to ensure that eco-glitter won't cause a severe fire hazard the way dried botanicals do, and while my own testing showed that they don't cause fireballs or anything, if your glitter gets too close to the wick, I recommend gently brushing it away before lighting, just to be safe!
Each candle costs $35 and the wax weight of each is approximately 6 ounces!

Oh, should I...
Challenge accepted :)
Alright, right off the bat for Morro, I'm thinkinggg something with tea notes, leaning towards the fresh-spicy end of things. Maybe some smoky/incense accords? Nothing too sweet, definitely trying to avoid gourmands for him. We'll get into all of the sugary colognes with Cole.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Either Black (Comme des GarƧon) with notes of black tea, black pepper, red pepper interestingly enough, incense, violet, and moss or Armani Eau de CĆØdre (Giorgio Armani) with notes of sage, bergamot, cardamom, black tea, and suede seem to be fitting for him. Personally, I find the former to be more interesting.
Now for some gourmands with Cole; as a gourmand guy myself, I could not be more excited and also worried considering that there are almost too many to choose from. I can absolutely just find a cake fragrance for shits and giggles along with something that's actually intended to be tailored to him. I'll try and stick to the pastry side of things here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
FUCKIN' KNEW I COULD FIND A CAKE COLOGNE, LAST BIRTHDAY CAKE (TOSKOVAT), BABY; with notes of hazelnut spread, brandy, cake, tonka, vanilla bean, brown sugar, and custard, as well as some more... odd notes (this fragrance comes from a brand known for basically writing stories with perfume; the lineage of each fragrance projects a specific moment or event, specifically here, blowing out candles on a birthday cake (I'm assuming)) such as cork, milk, and malt. The second cologne is definitely more of a day-to-day fragrance, with hearty notes of hazlenut, dark chocolate, and roasted coffee beans laying on a base of leather and cedar.
This has been Chris Mashing His Interests Together Like Play-Dough Part 734. Thank you for joining me. If you'd like to see me do this with any other characters (including your own!), feel free to send a request to my ask box :)

ATEEZ SMALL PERFUME REVIEW: TOM FORD ā€” OUD WOOD
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
disclaimer: this is not meant to be a serious perfume review, this is something fun for me to do as I love perfume. each and every one of us have different tastes and preferences when it comes to fragrances. what works for me might not work for you, vice versa. Iā€™ll try my best to describe the scents but I will always suggest for you to go and smell them yourself before purchase. if you want to try these perfumes, please test or get a sample before committing to the bottle. picture credits to all owners.
ateez member: yeosang
fragrance family: woody
notes:
rosewood, cardamom, oud, sandalwood, vetiver, tonka bean, amber
my scent experience:
the opening is very spicy, Iā€™m assuming from the cardamom and very woody from the rosewood and sandalwood. itā€™s pretty intense so it threw me off for a moment. once it dries down, its still woody and a little spicy but its slightly sweet and you canā€™t really tell unless you stick your nose into the scent. Iā€™m not too familiar with oud so I canā€™t really tell if I can smell it or not but many described it as a rich woody scent which is what Iā€™m getting so itā€™s pretty accurate to the name. they also said oud smells animalistic which I not too sure what they mean by that.
the projection is a little intense for me. I donā€™t think this is a fragrance for anyone who likes lighter scents. the longevity is good too as it lasted for a couple of hours and I could still smell it when I woke up the next day. if you want a fragrance that will stick onto you all day, you should try this out.
additional notes from me:
this fragrance is a popular scent in the Tom Ford private line among men. itā€™s okay to me but I personally wouldnā€™t reach for it if I had it in my collection. I like woody scents but this one is very intense and not for every day wear unless you love that intensity. I donā€™t know who created the candle version of this scent because it smelt pretty bad from memory I blocked the scent description in my mind because I was scarred. this is not a perfume I would personally recommend especially if you are new into buying fragrances but Iā€™d say test it out.
who would I recommend this to?
anyone who likes rich, intense woody scents.
those who want to make a statement and maybe turn a few heads.
anyone who wants to try out Tom Ford fragrances (private line).
if youā€™ve made it to the end, thank you for reading this review! I feel like Iā€™m the wrong person to review Oud Wood but I tried my best and tried to describe it as accurately as possible. definitely one perfume I recommend you to go smell for yourself because I am still second guessing myself with this one. I hope you enjoyed reading this and hopefully I can deliver better reviews in the future!

magolor: smells like candy apples, sparkling cider, freshly popped kettle corn, blue cotton candy, deep fried dough coated in cinnamon sugar, rich milk chocolate, ā€˜new carā€™ smell, a freshly reupholstered spaceship, welding fumes, burning candles, inexpensive fur detangler, a touch of volcanic sulfur.
taranza: smells like old books and aging parchment, slices of sweet melon, datura blossoms, vines of jasmine. candied rose petals, white & green tea topped with steamed milk and cane sugar, chamomile tisane, fancy cacao butter soap, avocado setae oil, freshly turned earth, a bespoke floral perfume.
susie: smells like french vanilla bean ice cream, plasticky pink bubblegum, powdery white florals, shiny metal, hot rubber, clean leather and suede, artificial lemon disinfectant spray, tonka bean butter, high-end synthetic white musk, tutti-frutti sorbet, fancy cosmetics just out of the packaging, sweet-smelling hair care products.

gotham characters as scented candles šŸ‘€šŸ‘€šŸ‘€?
OOGUHUGHG YOU HAVE MADE ME HAPPY TODAY, prepare yourself for category 5 autism event
eeeeeee OKAY. this will just be some of my general favourite characters, and we'll go in no particular order. and i think all of these would work as perfumes as well, bc when i start selling candles, i want to do perfume oils too, for all the scents i can get skin-safe ingredients for, so my design sensibilities are getting more wearable by the day. I LOVE FRAGRANCES
read-more provided because this is going to get long
Oswald; i think my already-planned combination will definitely work for him - blackberry, tobacco, caramel, wine, and a hint of rose, with some leather for extra depth. and i think for the Gotham version in particular, i'd add a bit of sandalwood, to make it a bit more like fancy perfume without compromising the sweetness.
Victor Zsasz needs something kind of dark and mysterious, but also strikes me as the type to use a very basic manly-smelling soap. so we'll compromise with - juniper, cedar, lemon, and black pepper. simple and sharp.
Ivy is another one where my existing scent blend for her will work with just a couple small adjustments - garden soil, oakmoss and ginseng, with a bit of tomato leaf and some white floral notes, maybe jasmine? and for this version, add in a little bit of clove and geranium.
Edward will have a scent VERY different from the one i made based on my own version... he strikes me as the type to wear a nice, sensible, light cologne. for this, let's say - amber, sage, tonka, a bit of musk, and just a hint of lavender.
Kristen is such a lovely character, I think she needs to be on this list too. she gets a mild blend - vanilla, old paper, bergamot, and lily. a sweet scent for a sweetheart. maybe some sort of bakery note as well, she strikes me as the type to enjoy scones or sugar cookies.
Harvey, Harvey. what else could a scent based on a weathered, moody detective be other than - whisky, smoke, leather, black pepper, and tobacco. a classic combination.
Lee, my beloved, my beloved!!! i honestly don't see her as the type to wear a lot of perfume, so this one is almost entirely conceptual, as opposed to most of the others which are a blend of vibes and what they might actually smell like... i'll go with - vanilla, orange blossom, hinoki wood, and lavender. a very soft, comforting blend.
Barbara is definitely a perfumey party scent - champagne, peach, lily, musk, rose, pomegranate, and amber, with a twist of bitter almond. fun, bubbly, and girly! her warning shots are aimed at the chest.
Scarecrow, finally, has to be smoke, old wood, ginseng, hay, soil, and cardamom.
OKAY these are just some of my faves, so if you think there's someone i should have added to this, SEND THEM IN AND I WILL DESIGN THEM TOO!!!!! and any other characters too, i am foaming at the mouth

black cherry, almond, red berries and bergamot // liquorice, damask rose, tea and taif rose // vanilla, anise, tonka bean, patchouli and iris
Black cherries, liquorice and rose. The potential for a ā€œscented candle aisleā€ experience is high ā€” and frankly, at times I do get that headache-inducing, candy-sweet, smothering intensity. Still, the fragrance has an allure to it. Itā€™s juvenile, but in a highly polished way.
Imagine a posh, pretty girl ā€” the main character or the antagonist of a show, someone whose style you canā€™t help but admire long after youā€™ve outgrown the age where you should be looking up to a fictional teenager. Fashionable, headstrong, smart, aloof, maybe a little Machiavellian, possibly even spoiled. Now make her even more chic. Now remember that sheā€™s anywhere from 13 to 16. What are you this dressed up for? Who wears a little black dress to school?
In the end, vanilla and patchouli shimmer through and the rose/cherry/liquorice concoction mellows out a tad. I detect a hint of smoke, even? Maybe the scent grows into its little black dress in the end, but underneath all that black silk, you can see the lighthearted joy of a pretty young girl. LPRN oscillates between being very chic and being headache-inducingly juvenile. And it makes it look easy. Charming, even.

cherries-jordi
gentle smell of perfume (sorta old lady perfume)- nyssa

Brucie: true, both from working outside with wood and the soap he uses (Irish spring, which has a woody base, and clean citrus top notes). He doesnā€™t go out of his way to buy and use extra colognes though, so the scents arenā€™t super powerful. He likes Irish spring because of its fresh and clean scent, as he actually has a rather sensitive nose and spicier scents can make him sneeze. He has his own natural musk, one that often mixes with the scents of his own sweat, woodworking, and occasionally blood from hunting.
Erik: I can definitely see him smelling like ink on the reg, and they do like tobacco notes in his cologne! If he ever starts to smell strongly of cigarettes though, that means heā€™s really stressed out for one reason or another. Smoky, tobacco, liquor, leather, and spices all feature in Erikā€™s preferred cold-weather colognes. He actually does tend more towards ā€˜cleanā€™ or ā€˜coolā€™ scents in the warmer parts of the year. The scents usually still utilize the same base notes of tonka or woody base notes he prefers in general, but with less heavy and cloying overtones for something a little minty and soapy.
Marcus: also correct! Marcus tends towards colognes with a clean finish of citrus and woodsy base notes, making for very fresh scents that are still grounded by the wood base. Orange, bitter orange, bergamot, almond, and cedar feature in his favored scents. He wears cologne daily, and likes the thought of you being wearing his clothes and still being able to smell the cologne on them~! His taste is most certainly expensive, and he loves a very mature and refined look as far as packaging goes. Heā€™ll only have one or two colognes at a time, and likes to use them before buying more.
Byte: the only off prediction, Iā€™m afraid to report that Byte likes tooth-rottingly sweet gourmand scents and takes care not to let themself become dusty, and they also donā€™t utilize heavy woody notes that might also be evocative of antiques. They adore pastry and dessert scents, and anything with blueberries is sure to pique their interest. Theyā€™ll buy anything that fits that profile, regardless of if itā€™s expensive or cheap, though they do have a huge fondness for cutesy packaging! Their collection of scents is large. Other than that, they only have a slight ā€œartificialā€ scent from their metal components and synthetic flesh, something almost a little bit coppery.
Quinn: I can really see her with warm scents, even as far as becoming spicy and smoky in the realm of warmth. Coffee, whiskey, amber, vanilla, caramel, sour almond, burnt wood, tonka bean, light musks. But yes, also red berries like cranberries and raspberries! The added ā€œjuicinessā€ appeals to her greatly. On the other hand, with the work that she does, she does end a lot of days smelling like sweat, mud, horses, hay and grass, etc. Whenever Quinn finds a scent she likes, sheā€™ll buy it in whatever forms itā€™s available so the whole house might smell like her too if thereā€™s also candles or wax warmers in the scent.
Cam: tends to gravitate towards fresh and clean types of scentsā€” citrus, tea, mint, eucalyptus; they also like soft jasmine notes, which are generally considered cool rather than warm scents. But, from their work and interests, they often end the day smelling of various essential oils and incense anyway. So there will be a warmth in their smell, none of which is from the soap they use in the morning, some of which comes from their natural body chemistry, but most of which the lingering spicy, smoky scent of their preferred incense.
Jordi: also correctā€” theyā€™ve definitely got a thing for sugary sweet top notes in their perfumes (my first thought was those candy legos šŸ’€), like a cherry candy or pie type of scent! Candied cherry, cherry maraschino, sometimes regular cherry. Lavender, cocoa notes, pastry/sweet/cream notes as well with just a little bit of musk to round out the scent and keep it from being too ā€œlightā€ and ā€œungrounded.ā€ Also, from spending most of his money on you, and a lack of genuine interest in scents, he usually just opts for whatever option at the grocery store smells best to xem at the time (old spice, axe, secret), mixing and matching menā€™s and womenā€™s scents until xe finds a combo he likes.
Nyssa: ABSOLUTELY CORRECT LMAO šŸ’€. They definitely wear those really powdery smelling florals. Their taste in perfumes often includes heliotrope, rose, lilac, gardenia, vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood, and patchouli. All of the base notes are rather dialed back in the compositions they prefer. These notes can come across as old-lady-ish or as quite girly and innocent, but either way they have a feminine quality that Nyssa likes. As a vampire, and a rather sloppy one, they also have a consistent tang of blood about them that you may or may not find enjoyable to smell.
June: The dandelion is a fantastic idea for June! It goes perfectly with her preferences. I can see June going for very light scents, thatā€™ll go easy on the base notes of tonka bean, or maybe mosses. She gravitates towards juicy, fresh fruit scents, and whimsical flower scents. Some of her favorite notes include peach, daisy, plum, strawberry, nectarine and nectarine blossoms, orange and orange blossoms, magnolia, freesia, and sometimes tea as well. She loves anything that reminds her of a warm spring or summer day! She could also go for a sweet gourmand scent as well, something cake- or boba tea-like. She really likes going shopping for new scents with her Darling and making haul videos about what all they found :]
