Explain the basic: Oils

Check out Part 1, which explains how to use the things down below. Disclaimer: All the things in this post are based on research and personal experience. As much as I could be a teacher, I suggest you find many resources for knowledge to develop your own experiences. Make sure you research the oils you buy/use because some oils can damage or hurt your skin in a really bad way. as well as some aromatherapy oils that can hurt your pet (if you have one).

Types of oils

Anointing oils — A sacred oil that’s blessed and charged and specially formulated for a specific purpose, usually for people.

Carrier oils — Vegetable and mineral oils that are used to help dilute essential oils that could cause skin irritation.

Condition oils — Anointing or conjure oils used to help relieve or improve someone’s condition.

Conjure oils — A dressing oil from an ancient practice usually African, European, or Native American traditions. Often found in Hoodoo.

Dressing oils — Specially prepared oil applied to spell and ritual objects before using them to sanctify, charge, and prepare them for use.

Essential oils — Volatile, concentrated oils, with the characteristic scent of the plant/flower they are from.

Ritual oils — Oils used to anoint candles, ritual tools, material, furniture, money, and other such items, and then use to anoint the body are often also called anointing oils.

Basic oils and their use:

Basil: Stimulates the mind, used in money-attracting oils, and encourages peace

Benzoin: Increases personal power and awakens the conscious mind

Bergamot: Money and protective rituals

Black Pepper: Protection and promotes courage

Chamomile: Meditation and inducing peace

Camphor: Purification and promoting celibacy

Cardamom: Energy to love and sexually oriented formulas

Cedarwood: Enhances spirituality

Cinnamon: Money and psychic awareness

Clove: Courage and protection

Coriander: Love and healing

Cypress: Blessing, consecration, and protection. Helps ease loss

Eucalyptus: All healing and purification.

Frankincense: Spirituality and meditation

Geranium: Happiness and protection

Ginger: Courage, love, money, and sexuality

Grapefruit: Purification

Jasmine: Love, psychic awareness, peace, spirituality, and sexuality

Juniper: Protection, purification, moon symbolism, and healing

Lavender: Health, love, peace, and consciousness

Lemon: Purification, healing, and lunar use

Lemongrass: Psychic awareness and purification

Hello babyyyyy

What do you think Loki would smell like? Would he have his own personal.scent so different from others? Would his scent linger in a room and you would know he was there?

Innnnnnteresting. So there's the my classic 'forests' which, I stand by - and I'm sure there's been various candle-sounding scents over the years but something I've discovered recently is Oud. So I have a jo malone cologne which is Myrrh & Tonka which is SO LOKI CODED OH GOD I spray it on myself and just go...yes 🤣 But there always has to be a frame of reference you know, and I feel like those are not common, relatable scents. But there we are. Maybe I'll work it in for Rite! Loki.

I also have a mini HC that his hands always smell a bit like fennel/herbs because he has a little herb garden in Asgard and everyone thinks its cute when they find out, until they realise what he brews with them.

Nonbinary: This is the only one that's the same as last year: a lovely aromatic blend featuring gentle English lavender top notes, a heart of sweet Meyer lemon, and a base of vanilla and tonka bean.

Pansexual: A playful blend with aldehydic top notes of bergamot, sweet orange, and apple, unfolding into heart notes of rich honey nectar and toffee. White musk forms a gentle base.

Polyamorous: Fresh and clean with citrus and mint top notes. A heart of lavender, green accord, and sandalwood blends into a soothing base of cedarwood, amber, and musk.

Lesbian: An effervescent, feminine blend that opens with sweet apple, raspberry, and sparkling champagne. Lily, jasmine, and peach heart notes follow, supported by coconut and sugar base notes.

Asexual: Herbal and aromatic. Top notes of lemon and cyclamen give way to a heart of sage, lavender, rosemary, and thyme. Base notes of eucalyptus leaf and green musk tie the blend together.

LGBTQ+/Rainbow: Oceanic but not overwhelming, this scent begins with marine and green accords, followed by herbaceous notes, dry woods, and a strong note of sea salt. Leather, cedarwood, and smooth black pepper form a lingering base.

Transgender: A sweet, blush blend. Raspberry and mandarin top notes blend seamlessly into a heart of rose, lychee, and red currant, which in turn lead to a captivating base of oud, benzoin, and sheer musk.

Bisexual: Sweet with a little spice, this striking blend starts with ozone and chili pepper, mellowed out by a heart of mandarin, guava, and orange. Coconut and peppercorn round out the scent.

All candles are decorated with eco-friendly glitter made from sustainably and ethically sourced plant material that biodegrades in a wastewater environment. Testing was conducted to ensure that eco-glitter won't cause a severe fire hazard the way dried botanicals do, and while my own testing showed that they don't cause fireballs or anything, if your glitter gets too close to the wick, I recommend gently brushing it away before lighting, just to be safe!

Each candle costs $35 and the wax weight of each is approximately 6 ounces!

Alright, right off the bat for Morro, I'm thinkinggg something with tea notes, leaning towards the fresh-spicy end of things. Maybe some smoky/incense accords? Nothing too sweet, definitely trying to avoid gourmands for him. We'll get into all of the sugary colognes with Cole.

Either Black (Comme des Garçon) with notes of black tea, black pepper, red pepper interestingly enough, incense, violet, and moss or Armani Eau de Cèdre (Giorgio Armani) with notes of sage, bergamot, cardamom, black tea, and suede seem to be fitting for him. Personally, I find the former to be more interesting.

Now for some gourmands with Cole; as a gourmand guy myself, I could not be more excited and also worried considering that there are almost too many to choose from. I can absolutely just find a cake fragrance for shits and giggles along with something that's actually intended to be tailored to him. I'll try and stick to the pastry side of things here.

FUCKIN' KNEW I COULD FIND A CAKE COLOGNE, LAST BIRTHDAY CAKE (TOSKOVAT), BABY; with notes of hazelnut spread, brandy, cake, tonka, vanilla bean, brown sugar, and custard, as well as some more... odd notes (this fragrance comes from a brand known for basically writing stories with perfume; the lineage of each fragrance projects a specific moment or event, specifically here, blowing out candles on a birthday cake (I'm assuming)) such as cork, milk, and malt. The second cologne is definitely more of a day-to-day fragrance, with hearty notes of hazlenut, dark chocolate, and roasted coffee beans laying on a base of leather and cedar.

The Janosovski kitchen was filled with the warm glow of candles and the chatter of siblings gathered around the wooden table. The smell of freshly baked cake lingered in the air, mingling with the faint aroma of flour and sugar dusting the counter. At the center of it all was Antonija, perched in Papa’s arms, her blue eyes wide with excitement as she stared at the cake before her.

“Are those all for me?” Antonija asked, pointing at the five candles burning brightly on the small but perfectly frosted cake.

“All for you, my little star,” Anže replied with a chuckle, holding her steady. His face softened with pride as he gazed at his growing daughter. “Five years old already! You’re growing up too fast.”

The room erupted into a cheerful chorus of “Happy Birthday,” with Vita and Aleks singing loud and off-key, Borijov clapping his hands to the beat, and little Katarina and Frančiška attempting to join in with their toddler voices. Antonija beamed, soaking in the love and attention of her bustling family.

“Make a wish!” Alojzija called from her spot near the stove, her voice warm and encouraging. She stood with her hands resting on her belly, a soft smile lighting her face as she watched her sister's delight.

Antonija closed her eyes tightly, scrunching up her nose as she thought hard. After a moment, she leaned forward, blowing out the candles in one determined breath. The room erupted into cheers and claps, and Antonija let out a triumphant giggle.

“What did you wish for, Tonka?” Borijov asked, leaning forward eagerly.

Antonija shook her head with a mischievous grin. “I can’t tell! Then it won’t come true.”

“Smart girl,” Mateja said as she stepped into the room, wiping her hands on her apron. She gave Antonija’s cheek a gentle pinch. “Now, let’s cut the cake before someone decides to eat it all.”

With a bit of help from Anže, Antonija cut the first slice, her small hands barely able to guide the knife. Everyone watched as the first piece was placed on a plate and handed to the birthday girl, her eyes lighting up at the sight of the perfectly fluffy cake.

As Antonija took her first bite, she closed her eyes and let out a satisfied hum. “It’s the best cake ever!” she declared, her face covered in crumbs. The family laughed, their joy filling the kitchen and spilling out into the cozy home.

As the evening wore on and the children’s laughter filled the air, Alojzija leaned back in her chair, watching her family with contentment. The years might pass quickly, but moments like this—full of love, warmth, and the simple joy of togetherness—would remain forever etched in her heart.

Bartholomew, the family’s ever-watchful crow, perched regally on his stand near the fireplace. His sharp eyes gleamed in the dim light, though he sat still, as though napping after a long day of observing the bustling Janosovski household. His presence, a mix of mystery and charm, added an air of eccentricity to the cozy room.

Bartholomew had been a gift to Mateja years ago, brought home by Anže after finding the injured bird in the field. What began as a cautious act of kindness had turned into an unshakable bond between Mateja and the crow. Bartholomew had recovered swiftly under her care, and though he could fly freely, he always returned to his perch by the fire.

The children often whispered stories about the crow, convinced he carried secrets or messages only Mateja could understand. Aleks once swore he saw Bartholomew "speak" to their mother late at night, his soft caws breaking the silence of the room. Borijov, on the other hand, was sure Bartholomew could read minds, given how often the bird seemed to follow him with those sharp, intelligent eyes.

Tonight, as the house quieted after Antonija’s birthday celebration, Bartholomew ruffled his feathers slightly, letting out a soft caw. Mateja glanced over at him from her chair, where she sat knitting by the fire. “What is it, Bartholomew?” she asked quietly, her voice as calm as ever. The bird tilted his head, as if considering her words, before settling back into stillness.

To the children, Bartholomew was more than a pet—he was a guardian of their home, a silent observer of their joys and struggles. And to Mateja, he was a reminder of the small miracles that could be found in the simplest acts of care and kindness.

Borijov sat at the old Lexington typewriter, his small fingers pecking away at the keys with a mix of determination and curiosity. At just 8 years old, he had taken a keen interest in the typewriter, a gift from a distant uncle to Mateja, though it had rarely been used until now.

The soft clatter of the keys filled the room, mingling with the occasional ding as he reached the end of a line. His tongue poked out in concentration as he frowned at the page, muttering under his breath, “How do you spell... adventure?”

The room was otherwise quiet, save for the occasional rustle of papers and the steady rhythm of Bartholomew, the crow, shifting on his perch nearby. Borijov had decided he was going to write a story, inspired by the books Vita and Aleks brought home from school. Unlike their assigned essays and factual reading, Borijov's creation was bursting with imagination.

“Once upon a time,” he murmured as he tapped the words onto the page, “there was a boy named Borin... who lived on a magical farm.”

He paused, glancing out the window toward the fields where his father worked. His story was, of course, loosely based on his own life. But instead of cows and chickens, Borin’s farm had unicorns and talking foxes. And instead of boring old chores, Borin spent his days rescuing princesses and battling evil sorcerers.

The typewriter dinged again, and Borijov looked up, startled for a moment, before grinning. He liked that sound—it made him feel official, like a real writer. Maybe one day, he thought, his stories would sit on the shelves of a big library, and Vita and Aleks would be the ones reading his books for school.

“What are you working on, little scribe?” Alojzija’s voice broke his concentration as she peeked her head into the room, a playful smile on her face.

Borijov spun in his chair, beaming. “It’s a story! About a magical farm! Want to hear it?”

Alojzija laughed softly, stepping closer and placing a hand on her belly. “I’d love to. But only if you promise to finish it first.”

“Deal!” Borijov said, turning back to the typewriter with renewed enthusiasm. His fingers flew over the keys, the words spilling out faster than he could think them.

As the afternoon sun dipped lower, casting warm golden light across the room, Borijov worked on his story with a passion that seemed to fill the space. For a boy who loved the farm and adored his family, the typewriter became his portal to new worlds—a place where he could dream as big as he wanted.

ATEEZ SMALL PERFUME REVIEW: TOM FORD — OUD WOOD

disclaimer: this is not meant to be a serious perfume review, this is something fun for me to do as I love perfume. each and every one of us have different tastes and preferences when it comes to fragrances. what works for me might not work for you, vice versa. I’ll try my best to describe the scents but I will always suggest for you to go and smell them yourself before purchase. if you want to try these perfumes, please test or get a sample before committing to the bottle. picture credits to all owners.

my scent experience:

the opening is very spicy, I’m assuming from the cardamom and very woody from the rosewood and sandalwood. it’s pretty intense so it threw me off for a moment. once it dries down, its still woody and a little spicy but its slightly sweet and you can’t really tell unless you stick your nose into the scent. I’m not too familiar with oud so I can’t really tell if I can smell it or not but many described it as a rich woody scent which is what I’m getting so it’s pretty accurate to the name. they also said oud smells animalistic which I not too sure what they mean by that.

the projection is a little intense for me. I don’t think this is a fragrance for anyone who likes lighter scents. the longevity is good too as it lasted for a couple of hours and I could still smell it when I woke up the next day. if you want a fragrance that will stick onto you all day, you should try this out.

additional notes from me:

this fragrance is a popular scent in the Tom Ford private line among men. it’s okay to me but I personally wouldn’t reach for it if I had it in my collection. I like woody scents but this one is very intense and not for every day wear unless you love that intensity. I don’t know who created the candle version of this scent because it smelt pretty bad from memory I blocked the scent description in my mind because I was scarred. this is not a perfume I would personally recommend especially if you are new into buying fragrances but I’d say test it out.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes rich, intense woody scents.

those who want to make a statement and maybe turn a few heads.

anyone who wants to try out Tom Ford fragrances (private line).

I feel like I’m the wrong person to review Oud Wood but I tried my best and tried to describe it as accurately as possible. definitely one perfume I recommend you to go smell for yourself because I am still second guessing myself with this one. Black cherries, liquorice and rose. The potential for a “scented candle aisle” experience is high — and frankly, at times I do get that headache-inducing, candy-sweet, smothering intensity. Still, the fragrance has an allure to it. It’s juvenile, but in a highly polished way.

Imagine a posh, pretty girl — the main character or the antagonist of a show, someone whose style you can’t help but admire long after you’ve outgrown the age where you should be looking up to a fictional teenager. Fashionable, headstrong, smart, aloof, maybe a little Machiavellian, possibly even spoiled. Now make her even more chic. Now remember that she’s anywhere from 13 to 16. What are you this dressed up for? Who wears a little black dress to school?

In the end, vanilla and patchouli shimmer through and the rose/cherry/liquorice concoction mellows out a tad. I detect a hint of smoke, even? Maybe the scent grows into its little black dress in the end, but underneath all that black silk, you can see the lighthearted joy of a pretty young girl. LPRN oscillates between being very chic and being headache-inducingly juvenile. And it makes it look easy. Charming, even.

This collection features 8 scents inspired by Ace Attorney characters, available both as candles and snap bar-style wax melts.

"Objection!" - Phoenix Wright: A woody, slightly spicy scent that opens with peppercorn, cedar, and orange zest. Heart notes of sandalwood, jasmine, neroli, and cashmere are followed by a resinous base accented with vetiver and Cabernet grape.

"Unnecessary Feelings" - Miles Edgeworth: A rich, luxurious blend. Top notes of orange bitters and rock salt ease into freshly waxed mahogany wood and pink pepper, all wrapped up in a smooth base of oakmoss, paprika, bourbon, and tonka bean.

"Hamburgers and Ramen" - Maya Fey: Sweet and girlish, this scent begins with grapefruit, bergamot, thyme, and sweet pea. White tea, nutmeg, rose, and honey form the heart notes, and are followed by tuberose and jasmine.

"Chords of Steel" - Apollo Justice: A strong scent with a kick of spice. Top notes of bergamot, ginger, and lemon mingle with cardamom, nutmeg, rose, and incense. Woods, labdanum, amber, and musk linger at the base.

"Courtroom Air Guitar" - Klavier Gavin: A balanced scent reminiscent of expensive cologne. Sea spray, eucalyptus, and citrus zest provide an ozonic opening combination, warmed by heart notes of cashmere, florals, and earthy mint. Cedar, sandalwood, vetiver, and amber musk complete the blend.

"Impromptu Psychoanalysis" - Athena Cykes: Bright notes of lemon, lime, citrus peel, and lemongrass jump-start this blend, followed by a calmer heart of jasmine, sugar, and blackcurrant. A simple patchouli and powder base holds the medley together.

"Gallery Fopdoodles" - Simon Blackquill: An earthy blend that opens with palm leaf and coffee, blending into oak, leather, patchouli, and caramel middle notes. Bottom tones of smoked vanilla, whiskey, and dried woods leave a lasting impression.

"Weaponized Prayer Beads" - Nahyuta Sahdmadhi: Soft and delicate, this scent's top notes of aloe, citrus zest, and milky ambrette unfold into a smooth heart of bamboo, green leaves, tuberose, and temple incense. Tonka bean, vanilla, sheer musk, and teakwood add depth for the finishing touch.

This collection has been bouncing around in my noggin for about two years, and now it is finally time to release it into the wild.
