My little investment to save $$$. I always used green leaves as mulch and compost for the #garden but not enough. Most of the time, I have to take all the cut branches & cardboard boxes to the road for recycle. And I have to buy bag of #mulch that now cost almost $4 per bag. So, I bought a wood chipper to produce me endless mulch throughout the years. Smart eh. So today, I started with the cardboard boxes. Managed to cut up 1/3 of this pile. More to go tomorrow. New idea to save $. 1 bag of red mulch is almost $4. I always recycle ♻️ all leaves & tiny branches onto the garden, but not enough. So, instead of recycle ♻️ the used papers back to the city, I shred them and use it as mulch. It adds color to the #garden Garden is happy and so as my wallet. What a working 💪 day. One customer moved from the San Francisco. She knew Tongan people there. And she has a lot of Tropical fruit plants in her home. More than me. She went and picked some #starfruits from her big tree. I am not a fan of Starfruit. It taste ok. Then she told me about the #soursop plants. My eyes 👀 goes ching Ching!! I need to get a cutting instead of waiting for it to bear fruits to get the seeds. So, I asked her. She was SURPRISED! Thinking I was joking. "You can plant that?" She asked?. "Yes maam. I will cut a branch, soak it on water to grow roots, then stick it on the ground" It's cheaper than buying a more than $40 plant from the nursery, if they have it. So, here we go. The planting process begins. I cut the branch into 3 pieces. Just #floweringaround😂😂😂😂😂 breaking from 🌀 hurricane preparation and shading from the 91° F heat. I can see clearly the broken #cactus from my roof. My #swimmingpool will be filled with debris and leaves after #hurricamissac tomorrow evening. Hoi. Koe toe clean up e. But I compost everything. Day 4 & the #gardentransformation completed. Now, just water, and wait to see if these #bulbs will survive the hot weather, animals & hurricanes. But, I am happy that it is done. The bulbs were on sales at Walmart for $1 each. They are not the best and some of them are dying. But, I added top soil, free the roots and water. They say I have a green fingers. We will see. The 3 days #gardentransformation #landscaping since Wed. Today is the first #planting of the new #gardenbed 1. Propagate #Amaryllis & grass from front #garden & plant them as borders all around. My estimate of how many to propagate in order to fit the space was ust spot on. 2. Tomorrow is bulb & cutting's planting. Another great exercise to loose weight & beat Non Communicable Diseases. Lots of physical work under 90° F heat & humid, but if you have a strong will & mind, then nothing is impossible.
