Aroace Hunter Week, Day 3: Cupid Missed

For some reason my brain gave me this image and I thought it was funny. I hope it fits within the bounds of “light ribbing/teasing”

A plant girl and an engineer boy just vibing as friends, ft. the aroace and aroacespec flags respectively, and also the platonic (just platonic, not queerplatonic) attraction flag on the bottom text.

Willow is not interested in dating at all, while Hunter is neutral/indifferent - he’s neither opposed to it nor actively seeking it out. Whether he gets a romantic partner at some point or not, he’s fine either way.

Btw I saw someone (who has since deactivated) suggest ‘YellowRoses’ as the platonic friendship tag for these two, and I like it, so I’m using this post to spread it. I tag them “#toh yellowroses”, in case you wanna match the tag someone already uses.

Cats and Yellow Roses 7

Study, 20×30cm, acrylic and coloured pencils on gessoed mat carton. In this series I used a lot of difficult surfaces. This one is a piece of black mat board covered with two layers of gesso. I was sceptical if it would be good, but it turned out to be very nice to paint on - a bit slippery, but not as textured as canvas board (I do a lot of fine detail apparently, so canavs isn't awesome for my work). It also came closer to my desired lighting.

Cat and Yellow Roses 3

Study, 20×30cm, acrylic and coloured pencils on toned paper. This study of my Yellow Rose Cat series was the first to be a delight to paint on the warmly toned paper. I had sketched rather loosely, and was worried at first it would become messy but it all fell into place. It took three passes of lights before it felt sunny enough. I enjoy the complementary contrast of the warm colours against the blue shutters; I left mosre parts sketchy here than I did in previous pieces.
