Not 2 be a hater on here but can we please start discerning between Prot angst and that old Tumblr catchall of Catholic Guilt.....Eugene Sledge does not have Catholic guilt that boy has never done the sign of the cross in his life. He thinks communion is symbolic. He believes the Bible has 66 books. Come on now if faith is a source of contention for him it's because he's worried about whether the church elders are going to split over installing a water fountain in the fellowship hall or the scripture selection being used for VBS....if he's a hardline Calvinist maybe he's scared of damnation. Maybe a little bit. If he's feeling particularly mentally ill at a given moment. Probably he's already sure he's either part of the elect or (if he's feeling progressive) he's in the One True Church. But boy he certainly doesn't know what charism means and he never will

Just made a post about how Gene always had horses and now I think I just need quiet ranch hand Gene who tips his hat to newcomers when he’s introduced but then the boys will follow up with “don’t worry about Gene, he don’t talk much” and “who, Gene? nahhh he couldn’t hurt a fly.”
What about horse whisperer Gene who’s got such a way with the horses that they call him Doc cause he always seems to know exactly what’s wrong with ‘em. Got a horse who’s lame, let Doc take a look at him. No he don’t got proper training, but he don’t need it because the horses might as well tell him what’s wrong. Or maybe Gene who competes in Barrel Racing or Tie Down Roping or Reining.
Idk I just need Cowboy!Gene

And now we reach the end of the 1960s. In the songs listed, we can see the psychedelic label applying to several genres, such as psychedelic pop and psychedelic soul. From psychedelic soul, we can easily see how disco will start to solidify in the coming years, but that genre will also derive from a wide variety of other subgenres. We'll get to that eventually.
The addition of Sugar Sugar also gives me a chance to talk about bubblegum music (or bubblegum pop, in this case). The term is both used to describe the genre from both the musical and the business side of its formation (I suppose it's similar to the modern use of "industry plant"), but I'll focus on the former. Essentially, bubblegum was used to classify music that was sounded sweet and chipper, but didn't appear to have the artistic integrity of other styles. The bubblegum pop of the late 60's and early 70's took a lot of influence from garage rock, but it was derided for not having that genre's sense of edge or scrappiness. This isn't my opinion, I'm just stating the origins of the term and how it was talked about at the time.
The shift from the 60's to the 70's is going to be a bit more apparent than the transitional stage between other decades. And here, we can see the foundations (hah.) of sounds that will come to define the following decade.
And with that, thank you for joining me through the 1960s. I'll see you all in the 70's.

Sigh... Ben Reilly... I love ya man, and I get that you're a clone who was bred in a lab and denied personhood for most of his life, but I just gotta disagree with your political leanings here.

I do honestly like that he respects that it's Mary Jane's choice overall though...

Your letters: Writer says elected officials ignore wants of constituents
"... Republicans are out of touch with their constituents. They are out of touch with Wisconsin. They are out of touch with reality." - Mary Jo Nissen of Balsam Lake
Dear editor, Perhaps nothing in politics bothers me more than when elected officials ignore their constituents. They are, after all, supposed to represent the will of the people, and yet too often they behave as if they do not have any obligation – or even any intention – to do that. Here is one current example: Most Wisconsinites think abortion should be legal in all or most cases, according…
