Vee opened her mouth to protest, when Masha continued,

"No, you can't be Luz," they mused. There was no fear or confusion in their tone, only a quiet curiosity. Vee felt like a small, cornered animal, being stalked and circled by a slitherbeast- completely paralysed, unable to tear her eyes from Masha, who seemed to be completely chill about all of this. "Because I've met Luz, and she didn't get the words right," they nodded to their right arm. Vee followed the nod, and stared at the wrist in quiet disbelief. Masha had stopped covering their wrist, unveiling the still smouldering phrase.

"C'mon Matty, do you have to go yet?" Gus batted his eyelashes at Matt, who's heart gripped in his chest at the pathetic sight of his lovesick boyfriend.

Matt ran a hand through his hair. "I don't want to go. But you know how strict my mom is with her curfew."

Gus pouted, grabbing his pillow and rolling onto his side. "Curfews blow. I just wish you could stay the night."

"Not on a school night, unfortunately."

Matt stooped down, packing up his school bag. He started to tug himself loose from Gus's Hexside sweatshirt he'd lent him.

"Stop," Gus said. "It's kinda cold out tonight. You can give it back tomorrow."

"Okay, thanks." Matt smoothed the sweatshirt back down. He'd definitely be sleeping in this tonight. It smelled like Gus. It'd feel like Gus was cuddling him all night. He secretly smiled to himself.

Matt was dragging his feet, moving as slowly as possible, neither one of them wanting him to leave.

"Um, bye...I guess..." Matt looked back at Gus over his shoulder when he'd finally reached the door.

"Wait!" Gus jumped off his bed and grabbed Matt's wrist. "Matty, don't leave!"

"Gus, I have to g–"

"I'll fly you home! Come here!" Gus tugged his boyfriend in for a kiss.

Any sort of complaint died on Matt's lips as Gus pulled him in. He hated flying, he got sick when flying–especially Gus's flying. But for this? He'd take the risk.

He wrapped his arms around Gus's neck, the taller boy stooping to kiss Matt with better ease. Gus's fingers tangled into his hair, and Matt's entire being positively sighed at his boyfriend's touch. Gus's soft lips on his skin, his soft hums against his lips, his hands in his hair and at his waist. He couldn't get enough of Gus's kisses.

Matt barely made it home in time for curfew.
