Watching my first watch through of SPN ever. I’m on season 9 and as someone who has been on tumblr since ancient times but didn’t actually get in to it, I think everyone DOWNPLAYED how crazy Destiel is. How did veterans survive that….. It’s just. What. What am I watching. Why does Deans voice get SOFT when he talks to Cas particularly??? Why did Dean ditch Sam to watch Cas at the supermarket???? The movie: The poster says, “best friends come together”, there’s a meet cute ugly at a bar and Logan immediately assumes Wade is there to hook up with him (so does the bartender), Wade calls him honey badger, and angel baby, their road trip song is a rock ballad about being lonely and wanting to meet someone, the second act has the classic romcom miscommunication/fight, they’re having a heated fight to one of the most iconic love song duets ever, Wade says, “the Honda Odyssey fucks hard too bad you don’t” and Logan says, “oh we’re just getting started”, after that there’s a shot where car they're in is rocking back and forth for hours and then it cuts to them asleep the next morning, there’s a line about Wade having Logan’s dick in his mouth (spoken by Ryan’s daughter), there’s a scene where they’re looking at each other longingly through a window because they think Wade is about to die (even though Logan hated him yesterday), Wade is very clearly staring at Logan’s abs after his shirt explodes then makes him put on a shirt after he sees other people also looking, they save each others lives by holding hands to a Madonna song about blowjobs, Logan starts walking away until Wade calls after him and he stops like he’s about to turn around and run back and kiss him but the camera cuts off before he does, Wade introduces Logan to Al like a nervous teenager introducing his girlfriend to his mom, and the last shot is their masks sitting next to each other in their ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT

Let's be crystal clear. Queerbaiting is real. But it occurs when the creators intentionally hint at a queer relationship to lure in a queer audience to give them money, but never actually follow through on their heavy-handed implications of a queer relationship. Queerbaiting does not occur when the creator has been transparent from the very beginning that Malevolent is about friendship and platonic love, meant to work through the toxic masculinity they've lived throughout their entire life, and to express healthy platonic love (and sometimes unhealthy love) between two male-presenting characters. It is not queerbaiting when they emphatically tell each other that they love each other, because love isn't exclusively romantic, and while it is absolutely okay for people to ship them (and something that the creator is totally FINE with, btw), it is not okay to accuse the creator of lying about their relationship when he's been clear about it from the very beginning.

Friendship and platonic love is just as meaningful as romantic love and that's the whole point of Malevolent.

i do think merlin and arthur had the perfect dynamic. an episode would end with arthur being like merlin you're my closest friend and confidante and the greatest man i've ever met. and merlin would be like i'd kill and die for you we are two sides of the same coin. and then you'd start the next episode and it would begin with arthur smacking merlin upside the head and calling him an ugly peasant and merlin calling arthur a fat idiot.

You know what’s so sad about the whole real person queerbait discourse?

bbno$ had an interview where he was asked if he’d ever have sex with a dude and he said “I don’t know”, and said he’s kissed his male friends and he’s felt attracted to men but he’s never felt like a proper urge to have sex with a man.

People of course called this queer baiting because of course they fucking did.

But there’s something he said in this interview. That he’s gotten more comfortable with his sexuality, and 10-15 years ago he wouldn’t be comfortable talking like this due to the stigma.

It is only due to new social progress that he’s able to give this answer. That he has the space to not just say he’s straight. I’ve always said that you could not make ‘I kissed a girl’ as a dude, because a guy who made a hit song about kissing guys with a girl waiting at home, he would be pegged as a gay cheater”. And this is the same I think, back then he definitely would have just called himself straight because it’s easier and because of internalized homophobia, and it’s only due to social progress that he’s open to the possibility.

You would think “I have felt really attracted to dudes but have never felt the immediate (read: immediate as opposed to eventual) sexual desire.” would be enough of a confirmation that this person is not strictly straight. Like not “Think they’re attractive” but “Attracted to”. But apparently this is him baiting.

The fact that people are mad that this man finally feels comfortable with his sexuality, and okay being honest about his situation because it means they can’t get a straight answer out of him as to whether or not to call him queer, that’s awful.
