bit of a ramble below! tl:dr; i have insane person problems and realised that this blog isn't healthy for me so won't be coming back until i'm in a better place, i have no intent on deleting it but may password protect it in the coming days for my own peace of mind :P love yall!

the absolute basics on my situation is that i almost certainly have OCD, have been vocal about this likelihood in the past, and while i was aware i was susceptible to obsessions and compulsions irt online interactions and my posts on here i was not actually aware of how debilitating the effect this was having on my life was until i went completely cold turkey and blocked tumblr from all my devices. like genuinely night and day. i have so much more free time when i'm not spending it constantly name searching on every platform available and scrolling through my blog over and over to be sure that i didn't post a slur by accident lol. i'd rather not get into some of the stupider details of shit ive done in the name of perceived moral purity because that's nobody's business but trust me when i say it was like a weight got lifted off my fucking shoulders lol like i was having regular delusions about making a post so bad grian himself would say i should kill myself on stream and believing it was possible 😭 really good disorder guys i love having this

i have a lot to say about the way this community treats each other, both good and bad, but i think i'd rather hold off and make more informed and thought out posts on that when i'm not still reeling from all the bullshit life's been throwing at me. i do love and value this community so much, especially all the mutuals and friends i've made here. i've also been made extremely uncomfortable in the past by the easiness that people slip into very strange relationships not just with CCs but with their fellow bloggers. including me ! and i am a relatively small blogger in the vast scheme of things. this is no hate to anyone who's sent an anon or whatever, many of you are lovely people, but it's also like, well i have been literally stalked on this blog before so i feel i have justification for being a tad uncomfortable . again, a lot to be said on the celebritification of average people and the obsession on making sure one makes "Objectively Correct" choices when doing something as simple as watching a minecraft series and having opinions on it .. but alas, no brain for it right now, and also i would rather not risk the ire of twitter teenager #48 lest i be qrted by thumbnail artists telling me to lighten up and accept the steady decay of all that is good in this sphere in order to make room for more #Content. Real life transparency shit time. Tattooing has been rough lately. Between the ongoing economic crisis that makes it difficult for people to even have their basic needs met let alone get tattooed (we're apparently seeing a 10% increase in grocery costs... conveniently right as minimum wage was about to go up by 30 cents 😒) and the oversaturation of the tattooing market itself (so many scratchers who "taught themselves" how to tattoo because they heard it was "good money" are now ironically making it not good money by oversaturating the market, good for them /s) I'm struggling to see how I can make a consistent living again without having to go back into retail. Maybe that's way too big of an ask at this point but if I'm barely making a living now with my tattooing as it is then going into retail just means I'll be working more for less pay.

SO all that said, I'm totally gonna combat this problem by offering another luxury service that isn't a need at all LMAO I have a Toyhou.se page now! (thanks to an IRL artist pal who's currently in their famous era and is amazing at helping the rest of us get our shit together lol)

well. there they are. some info that i do got about each under the cut:

Victor

The eldest physically, but the youngest vampire.

Ex-priest. He's perpetually pissed off at Luciano for turning him, as he can no longer step foot inside of a church without it hurting him gravely.

Very bitter about the fact his soul was (probably) saved yet he still exists like this. The entire vampire bit is a struggle for him, to put it mildly...

He has totally prayed before a meal of blood only to accidentally bless it, essentially poisoning himself. He has never done it again since.

He is also the reason Luciano has his cross-shaped scar on his forehead! The first time they met, Victor freaked out and smacked him in the forehead with it. It was night time, dark, and his glowing eyes scared the shit out of Victor. It was the first thing he thought of—

Often tries to avoid hunting until the last possible second, right before his hunger-induced bloodlust kicks in. He hates being a vampire that deeply, so he puts it off as much as he can.

Somehow, he's the strongest vampire of the bunch, much to Jacyn's dismay. It feels like Victor has wasted potential. While the others get moody and a little more violent when starved, Victor turns into a whole other man entirely. You'd think that'd be enough convincing for him to keep himself fed on time, but apparently not...

Jacyn

The eldest vampire. He's been around the longest. It shows in his skin with how sickly it appears. Luciano likes to bug him about it.

Definitely let himself get turned thinking immortality would solve some problems of his (it did not). What problems? I've yet to work that one out.

Very much wants power. He's sort of "asserted" himself as the head of their dysfunctional house, it sporting his last name. None of them really care, so it wasn't much of a fight.

Believes humans to be beneath immortal beings. Their mortality places them a step below someone like him. This was not the belief he held before wanting to turn, though.

Much more violent than the other three solely due to not being afraid of getting his hands dirty. He likes to play to his natural strengths, and blood-drinkers... well, they have inhuman levels of natural strength.

Luciano

Second youngest vampire.

As probably very evident by now, he's quite the pest. He's always poking his nose into other people's business or making playful (or what he believes to be playful, at least) jabs at the others. He's quite fond of Victor, while Victor... it's complicated. He hates him, but he feels like he needs to get used to him being around.

Vain... his appearance physically is one of the most important things to him. Dirty his clothes and he'll kill you. Maybe even literally, depending on the garment. Arguably his biggest downfall—he's cried to Hellena about a torn cloak before, to paint a better picture.

Very care-free attitude. He's often out mingling with the night-life of their town.

He views humans like fodder, often referring to them as such and treating them the same way a human would speak about animals.

Drank the blood of someone on drugs once... never again. Not because he'd mind doing it again, but because none of the house knew how to handle a high vampire.

Hellena

Second eldest vampire and second eldest physically.

The easiest tolerated by Victor. The two of them will sometimes sit and talk.

LITERALLY THE MOST SANE IN THIS GODFORSAKEN HOUSE. Between Victor's constant self-loathing, Jacyn's desire for violence, and Luciano... being Luciano, she's so incredibly normal about things.

Drinks her blood though fancy cups! Instead of feeding all at once, she spaces it out. She just prefers it that way, hehe.

She's not sure what she's going to do with her eternity... it's depressing to her, the time she has set out before her. So, quietly, she's trying to find a sense of purpose, a personal journey that's been going on for many, many years.

Sometimes she feels like she's parenting the rest of them. It's exhausting... but, admittedly, humerous. If anything else, she's content to make sure the other three don't somehow manage to kill themselves.

Despite her appearance, she's not that worried about things like ruining her clothes. Possessions and the like are easily replaced and fixed.

Smokes cigarettes. Her lungs don't suffer. She used to as a human and that habit carried over.

As you can see, Victor is definitely the most fleshed out so far LMAO, he's the first one I made and the first I've done rp with among friends, so I've got more knowledge about him. u_u

The others, I'll have more detailed info for in time! >:)

Lo'en (sometimes Lo'ren depending on which dragon) was orginally my dragonchoice character :D! Orginally the character was my actual name and Quemonth (Steel Blue dragonnet)

I kept getting the same dragon so decided to hell with it and just made the pair into my own characters! So, Lo'en and Sazimuth! Eventually I'm going to make a bronze pair as well.

But! Lo'en and Sazimuth are searchriders part time and tend to like to search around beachier areas when possible! Sazi has the giant mutation (Big dragons big dragons big dragons) and Lo'en has only blue and bronze flitts!

I'm gonna be posting a revamped ref for both soon! Since my first dragonchoice run was basically me, Lo'en does take quite a bit from me as well. The current art is like super old and used a design I no longer use (the one on toyhouse has been partially redrawn!) So I'm excited for a revamp for these two. The Original story was Sazimuth kicking the bucket and Loeren getting a bronze and becoming Lo'ren but I may scrap that

Also fun fact Loeren (and Lo'en and Lo'ren) is just my parents names combined :D! Went for the Pern Naming system deal to make my characters name which was fun.

I eventually plan to make some more characters for this lik universe, or maybe if I tone down how self inserted Lo'en is yeet them into an rp. For now though! My lil pair that gets tossed into situations :D!

This is The Gang™️. Their lores kind of intertwine but I can't share all of it because some of it involves other people. But I will say what I can! From left to right we got:

THE LIABILITY

(AKA: Libellule LaCroix)

- my favorite. This guy is wanted by C.O.G.S Inc. for trying to expose their toxic business practices. Don't get it twisted though, the toons hate him for crashing their karts and robbing their stores. She doesn't like talking to people.

- Muse moves playgrounds almost daily. He prefers toon clothes so whenever he can, libellule will steal some. She's paranoid all the time which isn't great but it makes quick getaways easier. They're pretty easy to agitate, but not necessarily mean. Not anymore.

- Didn't have a lot of friends besides muse's twin, but has since befriended a certain manager in acorn acres. Yeah. Befriended. No don't look at my discord PFP focus on this. That aside muse has a lot of enemies... like a LOT of them. To the point that Libellule automatically assumes everyone doesn't like them.

- A liability is "a thing for which someone is responsible, especially a debt or financial obligation."

THE RECORDHOLDER

(AKA: Sauterelle LaCroix)

- So his ACTUAL job is keeping track of their department's finances but they really wanna be a singer. Sauterelle totally thinks he'd rock the Sellbot department, but was placed in Cashbot territory for their past in finances.

- An overall nice guy but definitely has an "I'm-better-than-you" aura. Loves attention and gets extremely upset when that isn't given. When it comes to toons that reaches levels of (cartoonish) violence. He's actually kinda stupid though, they get manipulated very easily.

- Was easily clocked as a northerner by the L.A.A so they had tension for a bit but they're friends now. Sauterelle hates both the Major Player and the Pacesetter, mainly due to jealousy and possibly insecurity. Can put it aside for the Major Player, not for the Pacesetter.

- A recordholder is "a professional who manages, maintains, and keeps track of records or information." it is more commonly known as "a person or thing that has achieved something no other person or thing has achieved."

THE BLATHERSKITE

(AKA: Fres Nell)

- Once a stagehand, now works maintenance and occasional advertising for the Sellbot department. Don't worry though he still does plenty of stagehand stuff for his good friend in the Bossbot department. He's a borderline theater kid. Maybe even a full one.

- Possibly the nicest person you will meet in C.O.G.S Inc. He's friendly, selfless, and oh man is he talkative. This man never ever shuts up. Fres is always finding ways to help people, and he doesn't even care if they're toons! What a nice guy. Except for when he's making excuses for his less-than-stellar colleagues. That's not cool.

- Considers himself friends with everyone, but has gotten along with the Mouthpiece since he recently joined her club. He's only mediocre at the craft, but loooooves to chat! It probably drives the Case Manager and the Featherbedder up the wall. Oops.

- A blatherskite is "a person who talks at great length without making much sense."

THE AUTEUR

(AKA: Ciel Apper)

- Sadness, despair, melancholy, all of those emotions are what inspire Ciel. They are a director who works from the heart... turns out their heart is merely a shell of what it once was. Having gone solo for years, Ciel is now looking for a company who can understand and possibly foster new visions for cinema.

- A direct suit, Ciel is usually deadpan and quiet. If they say anything more than a sentence to you, it probably means they like you. They are infamous for their vague directions, which makes working with them as an actor a nightmare. Even more so since they're so stuck in their head.... they can't see the suffering of their actors. Or maybe they can, and just don't care.

- Ciel mostly locks themselves up in their studio. In order to get them to go ANYWHERE you either have to drag them out or threaten them. It's not like anyone tolerates their airheadedness besides Fres though. Despite Ciel being somewhat passive, they do have a restraining order on the Pacesetter.

- An auteur is "a filmmaker whose personal influence and artistic control over a movie are so great that the filmmaker is regarded as the author of the movie."

THE TOP DOG

(AKA: Lukah Updohg)

- You'd think someone with that title would be pretty important, but that's not quite true. Lukah is the sole member of the "Toon-Cog Relations Committee" which works to try and settle the Toon-Cog conflict peacefully. It's not working at all, so the higher-ups just send her paperwork that nobody else wants to do.

- Lukah is reserved, but by no means quiet. She'll fight vehemently for what's right, more than what many would expect out of a pacifist like her. The mediation tactics she uses work wonders on smaller conflicts, but Lukah would rather go for the bigger picture. Her job is not done without the conflict being over for good.

- Many are suspicious of her. After all, why would any cog care about things like "pollution" or "preserving toon humor?" She knows lots of people try to look into her, so she stays far far away from most employees. If she got along with any other suit it would either be the Deep Diver or the C.O.O due to their respect for the environment.

- A top dog is "a person who is successful or dominant in their field."

Anywho! Thank you for expressing interest in them! I hope to eventually have more art of them but most of it is just doodles.... and the occasional self indulgence. Don't worry about it.

For the lore mghmmm I cant really tell much more from the server, don't play there often. I mean I made an egg costume and was running around in it a lot pretending to be qsmp egg. Fun time. Mostly I visit it for our events like secret santa or new minigame that was built in the game district. Bunker game was really fun. It's based on board game with the same name.

Got back to my first base to finally finish it! I guess you can make up lore from that-

Like weather in snowy Tinkerwing village got so bad that people from there had to move in the big tree in the warmer area. Ooohhh abnormal weather.

Hilda DOES have her own lore tho that's different from whatever happens when I'm playing and she's completely new character from me.

In story she was childhood friends with ghast gal, but they were separated when Hilda went through the nether portal and couldn't go back. Ghast got mad at her thinking she was abandoned, got super buff, speedrunned minecraft (not a joke, she went to the End and got op loot there) finally found Hilda and get in the cool anime battle with her.

While after Hilda appeared in the Overworld she was found by Noelle (brown cow) before turning into zombie piglin Was cured in the village and started observing new culture for her helping to fight the Big Bad Rich in a face of Adele (phantom gal) and her right hand arm. man. her everything. i'm back bc basically i'm getting back into art - hello friends of new and old. it's chandler. my blog is bare bones so bare with me (and the bones) while i get it back up and running. i'm sure i have old blog code somewhere around here... basically, here's how i got to this point: step one - i rejoined chicken smoothie for reasons i don't even know myself

step two - realize i was never really an artist in online spaces and that wasn't part of the master plan. work with animals - check. drawing and possibly making career out of it - way off. took drawing one in college as my last elective but never really got comfortable digitally. as i rejoin the art world here is the laundry list of questions i have:

where do you post art now? i used to post on dA but like, literally no. and i was thinking about making a tumblr?

what program and tools do you use? i'm currently using a wacom intuos small with medibang. used to use this same tablet with paint tool sai

where do you learn how to improve? art posts on tumblr helped me out iirc. maybe i should make that tumblr.

kin heidrich is my 6′3′, happy-go-lucky, humanoid ray of sunshine, biker, metalhead, german, “undead” (theres no word for it and i’ll explain it later on her toyhouse i have not made yet) werekin/werewolf (werekin: she has wolf ears, paws, and a tail in humanoid form.) i dont wanna get into her past rn bc it’s.. bad. anyway.

has black eyelids just like most of the undead/smnelse/etc i can explain kinda later characters here idk why thats a thing. again, almost sunshine incarnate. she has some anger repression issues, but she never takes them out on anyone. for the most part. at worst, someone annoying her or someone she likes will get what is a weirdly polite, “crazy-eyed threat”, which is usually just to get lost for a while, but mostly that happens if someone bothers someone she cares about enough. she doesn’t really do that if she is herself bothered so much. but if it is someone else, she will tell them to get away from them very politely, with a... stare. it works. it also helps that all of her teeth are very, very sharp.

she got the “crazy eyes” nickname because her eye color is red, with small, slit shaped pupils. she’s totally aware of it, and finds it accurate/funny. if she feels out of options often when she is scaring someone into going away, she will tell them something along the lines of that it is very unlikely that she’d ever hurt anyone, but “never zero.” it almost never happens; unless someone really fucks up with someone she cares about, mostly. almost never when she is herself the target of torment. (one example: someone threatened one of her friends and she used the “crazy eyes”, got up in their face while telling them, in a very scary “nice” voice, if they kept it up, she would eat them alive; and to go away for at least a month. a scary (empty) threat, but hell it worked. patted them nicely and said “go away” in a nice voice just to kinda mess with them further. said person had no clue it was an empty threat).

she is a big optimist, (even with everything that’s happened); and is determined to stay that way. regardless of anything and everything that could possibly deter her from stopping. she always believes things can and will be better.

she works on her motorcycle quite a bit; and has her own underground metal band, wolfskull. she also hosts raves. her band has three types of concerts; metal, rave, and kinda solemn. she does sing about some sad stuff sometimes; she has to vent it at some point.

when she loves someone, she loves them a LOT. ( pick-you-up-and-whirl-you-around maybe if you’re okay with it). if it’s you, you’re gonna be treasured, a LOT. yea you can’t escape her affection, get used to it. anything you go through? she’s there at all times. also kind of really. energetic. unless you need a calmer presence. she can do that too. ...related: hyperactive ADHD. she knows when to calm down though; she’s not an idiot; and she is capable of controlling herself.

her only thing is that on her birthday, she turns into were-form, and is completely feral; but she always makes sure to secure herself two days before that, in an unknown, locked location. you will not know where. don’t ask. you won’t get an answer.

she has bandages wrapped around her arms from the elbow down; you can probably guess why, but do not bring it up or ask about it unless you are very close with her. she will get upset with you, quietly, and won’t speak to you for a while. which is very out of character for her. so if you do that you fuck up bad.

she has ptsd and pretty bad nightmares, but her husband (dredge) and her girlfriend (royce) always calm her down, even if it takes a while.

her battle type is “brawler”, if she has to. she uses unarmed most of the time but will use something else if she has to... while very annoyed. weapons for her are super annoying and she will use them if necessary but will whine about it the entire time, complaining that someone ELSE use them, not her.

again, she’s wolf-based; and has black wolf ears, a tail, and paws in humanoid form; but please do NOT call her a dog, or puppy. don’t do that. it’s rude.

to maybe summarize, she’s a huge sweetheart who can and will use any ability she has to scare off bad people if she absolutely has to; and generally just loves everything, and everyone, regardless of what happened. with a band she is very proud of.

doesn’t matter who you are btw, she’ll absolutely love you.. unless you turn out to be kinda bad which please dont do that. she really hates not liking people.

Um I've been looking around toyhouse just looking at profiles and stuff and it seems more focused on adoptables and selling characters than anything else. But there are a bunch of features that I kinda like. Like the profile customization stuff and how you can divide ocs by worlds and stuff, so I may try to get an account there? Possibly? Maybe??

important update, i might be absent from the internet for a while!

ok i might be absent from the web for a little bit because of... stuff. i pmd my friend on insta abt the situation so ill just screenshot that instead of retyping it:

he = my dad. we = my dad + me. as of writing this i just had breakfast at waffle house at 2am.

for context, i had a nightmare where my friend, cupid, killed himself. the moment i woke up, i checked my phone to see if he was okay. my dad doesn't know about cupid, and i'm afraid of him knowing because cupid is gay and trans + we've said some pretty raunchy things to eachother as jokes

i'm on a truck ride with my dad until tomorrow (7/15/22).

my dad has a history of being... pretty intrusive. ive vented abt him before on my toyhouse. but long story short, hes (very) transphobic and (sort of) homophobic, + ive said some not so family friendly things on here as jokes, so that might get me grounded or otherwise punished if hes made aware of it.

this is the exact same reason i was forced to deactivate discord n twitter like a year ago (sexy stuff + trans people)

keep in mind I won't be able to follow people back on here. That is what my main blog is for.

Where I attempt to introduce yall to my ocs and their universe. The story is called Resetting and it's about a group of outcasts who befriend each other, and have to face some of the past problems that led to their current situations or try to move forward and create new problems for themselves.

RESETTING tells the story of an aspiring "host" making her way to the shiny civilization of Evelow, where she can get answers about how the world works. They are the center of advancements, right ? After all, this is the city that introduced genetic engineering and has a religion based around the founders of the city for they were the pioneers of protection against the toxic planet.

However, she learns that this city has little tolerance towards accepting the outside world, and would rather destroy it than embrace it. Will this newcomer be able to change their minds ? Or will she be their biggest enemy ?

RESETTING follows this journey, along with her new friends who have their own demons with Evelow for their own various reasons.

Audrey is the "new girl in town" who is partially to blame for the downfall of her old village of Dile. She hopes she can better herself by starting new, but it turns out "bettering" herself could possibly lead to actually making herself worse.

Advik is a clone of one of Evelow's most renowned scientists and councilmen, and now that that person's gone, Advik has had a lot on their plate ! They might have fucked up their prestigious position, because now Advik is stuck in the east village away from all their old problems. They have no intention in going back.

katsumi, kat for short, is a former socialite that had made too many promises to the wrong people and has found herself shunned from her old society. Kat is ready to accept her past mistakes and make new friends, because just because the last relationships couldn't have been trusted doesn't mean new ones can't !

Zack is another former child of the council, who's "downfall" has been due to a tragedy and some family tension. He finds the situation fitting for him, as it's the most interesting thing that's happened to him yet.

Avery is one of Evelow's orphans who always felt she was dealt a bad hand and resented the world for it. That didn't stop her from overachieving, and if her mistakes cause harm to other people, she promises to make up for it, but never apologize.

Morgan is another newcomer, or perhaps a revisitor. After getting a trial run as a wasteland pirate, Morgan returns to her hometown with some brand new baggage, both figuratively and literally (don't look into her mystery cooler, there's nothing in there.)

Sean is the biggest example of Evelow's advancements, as he is a genetically engineered human being with all the qualities of a natural human and more ! However, while he's all organic, what does this mean for Sean ? Will being put on this high pedestal affect his ego or placement in the world. We'll see !

Aurora is the darling of Evelow, representing a new generation of councilmen and being a promising leader for the citizens of the city. However, her strive for power has led her to sacrifice a lot, and maybe it'll lead her to lose the charm that once made her so adored.

Glossary

Defund - the name given to former "Evelonian Elite" who have had found themselves at the bottom of the class system due to varying reasons.

The Ellocast Project - a secret project kept hidden from Evelow, the goal was to be able to create humans purely organically but with the genes to be immune to the dangers of the outside world. The answer to "how will the members of Evelow be able to live beyond their lands ?"

While the first trial was only created to see if it could be done, future trials were done to give humans advancements, including greater strength and agility. There are a total of three trials with two subjects each.

Hosting - the act of manipulating an element or some form of natural substance to your will. It's very rare and is even forbidden in Evelow, but to do it requires a lot of exposure to said substance and some sacrifice, as many who attempt it lose their lives or their humanity.

It’s an Update

Hello, Riddle here! I know I’ve been pretty quiet on Tumblr lately. Here’s an update on my situation:

I will definitely post more fanfic updates soon. I’ve picked at drafts, but haven’t posted anything lately. Here are the reasons why:

I got a new IRL job. It’s a good fit for me, but I have less free time than I used to, of course. It’s a job that involves writing lots of articles on a variety of topics, and I enjoy how every day is a little different

Most of my free time for the last year has gone towards my mod work at the Creature-Crossing ARPG, and to my personal CC writing. I’ve been working on new activities over there (my recent favorite being our seasonal familiar shows... I won first place in the summer show!) and I have a lot of plot plans that are coming together now. If you ever want to see my original characters and read my CC writing, you can find my character directory HERE and my Table of Contents HERE.

Once November 1st hits, I won’t be preparing for the release of any more CC activities or events. All future activity or event releases will be overseen by the other mods, and I’ll simply be someone they can ask for extra help if needed. This is a big change for a mod who spent the last 12 months working on new releases, and will give me back some of the free time my IRL job will eat

The Creature-Crossing admin (my boss) greenlit my request to bring an assistant on the mod team who will specifically help me with a lot of my behind-the-scenes work, such as data entry and organization. I’ve never had another mod who specifically helps me with the back end duties before, so that will be awesome. I will need to spend some time training them, but once they are official, that will take some of my workload off and allow me more free time for this blog and personal writing time.

So, what does this update mean for your fanfics?

They’ll be active again soon! I’ve been picking at them behind the scenes, trying to build up a buffer. In an ideal world, I would love to release a new chapter for SOMETHING every Friday. I doubt this will be possible, but it’s something I would love to work towards in the future. Realistically, you can probably expect some kind of fanfic update once every two Fridays (two updates per month).

There might be some Fridays where posting an update is not possible. Instead, I’ll make a post about what progress I made instead. In the past, I often overworked myself to get a chapter out in time for my old deadline. I will not be doing that anymore, but will instead hold myself to a goal of “Make progress on something every week.”

In the best ideal world, I would love to post one FOP fanfic update per week and one non-FOP fanfic update per week. This is not likely to happen for a long, long time, but that would be the dream.

Here are the things I most likely worked on if there is no fanfic update:

- A fanfic chapter draft that needs more time

- A sideblog profile

- A Toyhouse profile for personal characters

- IRL work or mod work may have kept me busy this week

- Creature-Crossing writing... I will try to prioritize my fanfics more, but my CC writing is still important to me and I will be working on it in a lot of my free time too. At the moment, I have a hard deadline of December 14th that I need to meet if I want to release huge plot drama on the day that it happens in canon. I’ve been building up to this for a long time, so I’m really excited about that.

I currently have summer or autumn 2022 planned as the “finale” for the majority of my plot to explode. I will be hosting a member-run event in Creature-Crossing that will last for two months, so a lot of my time from January until the event’s release will be spent doing event prep. Once the event ends, my story content will mostly be a “return to slice of life.” Stories will be more casual one-offs as characters grow, live their lives, and start their own families. Hitting seasonal deadlines for plot will no longer be so important. I’ll be giving Creature-Crossing work less attention after that, and much more attention to my fanfics.

- I may not have a fanfic chapter out each week, but I WILL post a note every Friday to let you know what I have been doing with my time. You’ll see me around. Feel free to send Asks and talk!

What non-FOP fanfics would you like to work on?

For literal years, I’ve been claiming I want to post Mario World fanfics. This is still something I want to do. I tag Mario World posts as “mushrooms and more.” I’ve already done a lot of worldbuilding, I have thousands of words of content written for this fandom... I just haven’t posted any of it. I hope to do this soon.

- ���WordGirl” fanfics are prioritized over Mario World fanfics. After I finish my first “WordGirl” multi-chapter, I will probably be ready to post my Mario World ‘fics. I may possibly post some Mario World one-shots in between other fanfic updates. Might take another year or more before I touch Mario stuff unless there’s high interest in seeing it sooner?

I also really want to write some WordGirl ‘fics and get more involved with the fandom community. I’ve been building headcanons and lore for this show ever since I was a kid, and I have multiple ‘fics for this fandom that I want to write.

- “AlgoRhythm” is a ‘fic I have already posted on FFN and AO3, about WordGirl introducing Kid Math to the villains in town

- 28 Cities is a ‘fic I started about Rhyme and Reason before they arrived in Fair City. I put it on hiatus since it didn’t seem like anyone was interested, but I’m willing to post more for it if there is interest in it now that years have passed and I’ve gotten more followers who like WordGirl. I have a lot of worldbuilding and plot I never shared for it

- Factor It In is a ‘fic I’ve been working for a while that parallels the official show from the moment Kid Math arrives in town. It focuses on Rex’s struggle to adjust to this world as a child coming into his superpowers for the first time (Y’know, the whole “superheroes don’t have powers when they’re on their home planets” thing), his struggle to adapt to the social world of a non-logical planet, and Becky’s struggle to help him become accustomed to Earth and learn to share it with her as well. If the episode “Kid Math” was a full-length novel about Rex’s arrival and character development, that’s what this story is. This is the highest priority of all my non-FOP ‘fics... I’ve had a cover image made for 6 months and even though I tried setting it aside, I’ve always been super inspired to write for it. If I felt like it would be a good idea to commit to weekly updates alongside my FOP updates, I would, haha.

- I have two one-shot WIPs called “Squishy Feelings” and “A Little Ambiguity”, one of them focusing on Becky and Rex talking about the events of “Rhyme and Reason” and what it means for Rex’s secret identity, and the latter being a future ‘fic showing WordGirl and Kid Math dealing with life 10 to 15 years down the road. I’ll probably post the latter, not sure yet on the former.

- If desired, I may make a WordGirl specific sideblog where I post lore, answer Asks, post character profiles [smaller than my FOP sideblog ones], and mention fanfic updates. If you would be interested in this, feel free to send me an Ask requesting I do this. If there’s not interest, I’ll just keep my WordGirl stuff on the main blog.

- I’d like to get more involved in the WordGirl community, so I’ll probably post more content and reblog more art and headcanons

I also have a handful of miscellaneous ideas I might follow through with. I’d like to write at least one “TUFF Puppy” fanfic so I can say I did. In a perfect world I would like to finish the two “Danny Phantom” and “Bunsen Is a Beast” fanfics I started because... I just kind of want to dip my toe in each of the Hartman shows once since I already went through all the effort of worldbuilding for them to make them canon in a single Hartman show universe. “ChalkZone” is another show I adore and might touch someday (You may recall I have a full outline planned for an FOP/ChalkZone crossover ‘fic called “Dust to Dust”).

Will I write all of these things? Maybe not. I have no idea if I want to spend the next 10+ years writing fanfics, or if I’ll simply be done with all misc. fanfics immediately once I decide to be done with my main ‘fics. I definitely intend to write for a few more years and finish my main ‘fics, but I might not go through with some less popular side ‘fics if life is getting busy for me.

What is the posting schedule for FOP ‘fics?

Reedfilter Rules, Frayed Knots, Origin of the Pixies, the 130 Prompts project, and “Come What May” are all high priority FOP writings. I will swap between them depending on my mood that week.

Here are some other ‘fics I want to work on.

- If you like, you can send me Asks requesting I work on a specific story above the rest. I will try to prioritize whichever stories interest you guys most.

Snips and Snails is a ‘fic I started and posted the first chapter for years ago. I’m not sure when I will get back to it, as I ran into some writer’s block. It’s still on tentative hiatus for now..... Possibly forever, though I hope it isn’t forever since it’s only supposed to be, like, five more chapters.

Pink and Gray is on official hiatus. I actually have a lot written for it, but I know it’s a little weird to put so much time and energy into Gary and Betty content when... well, let’s be honest: they’re my niche favorites and most of you probably don’t care. So, I am lifting my usual “no spoilers” policy from my Ask Box. If you would like to ask about my Gary and Betty backstory headcanons, feel free. I will tag my replies as “ridwriting spoilers” for anyone who wants to blacklist the tag, and spoilers will be hidden under a Read More line. 

I’d like to return to this story someday because there are tons of things I like about it (ranging from Betty’s secret tattoos to Gary’s plot drama with his mom to the background drama between Talon and Anti-Cosmo, but I always feel immense pressure to make it extra cool to make up for the fact these are weird side characters, so... it’s officially at the bottom of the priority pile. Once Talon shows up in Frayed Knots and readers understand who he is and why he exists, I’ll consider coming back to it.

Identity Theft is a story about Foop and his time in the alternate dimension he was flung into following the episode “Playdate of Doom.” To put it short, Foop was abused by alternate versions of his parents in this dimension and he witnessed some pretty intense stuff, including the death of the alt version of himself who existed in that reality. The trauma he experienced resulted in his alternate personality, Hiccup. Foop himself has very few memories of what happened, as Hiccup has all of those memories. This story is canon in my works, and it is regularly referred to during the 130 Prompts as part of Foop’s backstory. It’s my highest priority side story to work on.

Along the Cherry Lane is a 20-chapter work focusing on the lives of the main human cast from age 11 to age 30, with one chapter showing a snippet of their lives each year. You see Timmy raising Tommy and Tammy in this ‘fic, and it ends with them receiving godparents. Since the 130 Prompts don’t give humans much attention, this ‘fic does. You’ll probably see it debut two years from now, closer to when the 130 Prompts is ready to talk more about humans.

If this becomes a popular ‘fic of mine, I’ll probably write a sequel or continue it past Chapter 30 and write about Tammy and Tommy living with fairies, but I won’t if there’s no interest in that.

Little Imperfections is a Pixie AU ‘fic of mine about what life would be like in a universe where the Fairies are even more like insects than I play them as during my main works (where I already play them as semi-similar to insects). In this world, the Head Pixie is a figurehead whose duty is to reproduce for the sake of the colony and do nothing else, and he’s bored out of his mind until he befriends Sanderson, who introduces him to music. It’s extremely self-indulgent and silly because I like Pixies.

Francis is a multi-chapter ‘fic about bully Francis’s life getting yet another fairy godparent in a long string of memory wipes and godparents. It takes place during the canon series, and when you see an “orange fairy” mentioned in some of my writings, it’s usually referring to this fairy. His name is Rover and I occasionally post art of him. I feel like I can’t truly call myself an FOP fanfic writer until I actually write about a godkid and their godparents, haha...

Hawthorn Haven is a side ‘fic that will be posted towards the end of the 130 Prompts, as it veers off from the prompts in its own self-contained multi-chapter story. It will be approximately the length of “Baby, You’re a Rich Man.”

Acacia Arcadia is a far-past ‘fic detailing the fall of the ancient fae, the imprisonment of the nature spirits, the rise and fall of the chimera nation, the fall of the Martian genies, and the early days of the cloudlands. This is close to the bottom of the priority pile... It’s something I spend time on for personal reference to ensure accuracy in my other ‘fics, but it’s probably not what you guys came here to read.

AA has a bunch of characters in it that you might vaguely recognize, such as Ezekiel Whimsifinado, Evadne, Ione, Two Feathers, Rho, and Sablewood (If you’re astute, you might recall cloudland legends and landmarks in modern day that refer back to these characters). There are also a lot of characters who were reincarnated as Anti-Fairies, in accordance to traditional Anti-Fairy beliefs; Foop for example exists as a main character in one of his past lives, and you’ll see a hint dropped about each of his lives in the first chapter of Identity Theft. My tentative plan is to use Foop’s past lives as my central characters, following the events of each part of the timeline until he gets killed and reincarnates at a later point of the timeline.

I also keep some one-shots in a file I call Mixed Nuts and I may possibly post them someday (they’re mostly just one-shots of main cast characters I do to get a feel for their personalities, I have some Wanda and Cupid in here). @zachbrightside and I are also working on a collab ‘fic called Like a House On Fire that shows more of Timmy and Chloe’s lives during Season 10 (especially around the time of “Which Is Wish?”) No news on a release date for that yet.

As I’ve said before, once all my other FOP works are complete, I will write Devil’s Backbone, which is my far-future ‘fic and the finale of my FOP writing. I do not plan to write any more FOP content after that story is finished, as I expect to have all other FOP projects done by then.

- Devil’s Backbone is a finale 'fic, so all worldbuilding from all stories is fair game to blend together, and it’s highly recommended you read everything else first. This story has been outlined since 2016, and it might not be published for another 10 years... Who knows! But it’s something I always work towards as a concrete endgame goal.

- If something serious comes up in my life and I officially decide I don’t want to write this story, I will post the outline for it. The link to this draft is included with all the other Google Docs links I have in a far-future queued post unveiling my WIPs in case I unexpectedly die and you still want to know how my stories would have gone, so you’ll get access to this story eventually even if I die young. Yes, share access is turned on for them all and I do take extra careful measures to be sure that post doesn’t get posted early skldfj

What is the plan for the main blog?

Every Friday, I will post either a fanfic chapter or a progress update. You can blacklist the tag “ridlife” if you do not want to see the progress updates on your dashboard. Fanfic updates will not have the “ridlife” tag, so you will not be blocking them.

During the rest of the week, I might post doodles, reblogs, or general comments. Basically... you’ll see the blog become active again. Feel free to send in Asks about my worldbuilding and thoughts on fanfic characters.

What does this mean for the Riddledeep sideblog?

I really want to go back and edit those character profiles that were posted early by mistake. The reason they were queued is because if I turned them into drafts, they would have been buried all the way at the beginning of my draft collection, and I have many, many drafts saved. There are no page numbers to navigate quickly through the draft collection, so I would have to click through each page one by one if I ever wanted to look at them. I hated doing this, which is why I kept my posts queued.

I was regularly updating the queue deadlines, trying to keep things in the order I wanted to post them in, but Tumblr made a change to the way drafts are dated and it kept throwing off my system. My inability to remember when my queued things would post combined with my busy schedule led to some profiles being posted early and incomplete. I want to fix these.

Over a year ago, my good friend Vulpix150 helped me finalize my designs for the Aos Sí and Daoine Sith. I’ve been sitting on that art in secret for a while, and at some point I plan to post it on the sideblog and talk more about that lore.

Updating fanfics is my higher priority (and it was the priority my followers voted for when I asked you to send votes to my Ask Box a while back). So, I will usually spend my free time working on fanfics unless I need a break from them and want to work on sideblog profiles instead. Thank you for your patience!

TL;DR

I’m posting fanfics again soon. I’m going to take a more relaxed approach to posting them. I’m going to post more of what I want to post and what I feel motivated to post, not always a main ‘fic update. If I’m not “feeling it” when working on a draft, then I’ll set it aside for a while unless I know my followers and readers have high interest in the next chapter of that story. I always write for me first, but if I know there are other people who care a lot about a story, then of course I want to write it for you too!

I’m going to embrace my decade-long love for WordGirl and post more ‘fics and art or this fandom. I’ve always been a little shy about doing this, but I’m ready to make it an official fandom on my main blog (unless there are lots of requests for WordGirl things to be contained in their own sideblog). I will be posting the first chapter for a ‘fic called Factor It In very soon. Love my easily frustrated alien kiddos having a long day.

I am working on Creature-Crossing stuff too, and will be especially busy in November and December. Updates will be slow for a few months, but I hope to find my groove and a good pace soon.

Is there a specific story of mine you like and want more updates for?

Asks and reviews help me know which ‘fics people are enjoying. I plan to keep writing ‘fics no matter what, but I definitely give more time to the ‘fics that get more attention (and I have been spending so much time writing for Creature-Crossing because that’s where the attention was coming from)

It’s easy to stay motivated and get the next part of a story out soon if I know that people like it. It’s always harder if you feel like people are silently judging you and ignoring your posts. Exalted Secret Santa Journal: 2020

Apologies for the slight delay! My journal this year is going to be pretty much the same one as last year; I was working on an additional reference but it absolutely got away from me, so I’ll give it more time and save it for next year. Without further ado:

Daia Shan- Serenity Caste Sidereal

Once just a troublesome junior bureaucrat in the halls of Yu-Shan, Daia truly gained infamy upon her selection to accompany a strike team of Exalted heroes on a mission into the depths of the worldbody of the Yozi Oramus, and her subsequent escape and return from that impossible prison, nearly a thousand years later. The experience left her profoundly changed; even now, the spite of Oramus hangs like a mantle around Daia, ensuring that the waking world she fought so hard to return to will never feel like anything more than a dream. And then, of course, there is the matter of the power she took from the Sevenfold Peacock willingly… and how that power might be changing her still.

Daia is a somewhat petite woman, belying an athletic build. She is ethnically from the Blessed Isle, with dark grey hair that she prefers to wear up, usually in a bun or a knot. Her face, which she tries but fails to keep free of stress and worry lines, is usually found bearing a smirk or an expression of dangerous faux-politeness. Her eyes bear the iconic starry blue of the Serenities caste, but are also shot through with bands of a strange prismatic iridescence. She bears a large pair of bull horns atop her head, a mutation received during her time inside the Worldbody. The nature of the power bequeathed to her by Oramus is such, though, that her very nature is beginning to blur around the edges, and it is not unusual for her day-to-day appearance to fluctuate strangely as mutations come and go like glitches. She is a bit of a fashionista, favoring blues, dramatic and sharp femme looks (she avoids ruffles and prefers sleeker outfits), and jewelry of all sorts (a lot of it). She rarely wears the same exact outfit twice, so do not feel obligated to stick to the reference- you can get creative! She wears makeup, but prefers cool colors and an understated application.

Daia’s most important accessory is her longfang, the Sevenfold Peacock’s Tailfeather. Forged from starmetal, orichalcum, and a crystalline shard of Oramic essence, the weapon contains knowledge of every martial arts technique known by every user to have ever wielded it, and seems to hunger for more to the point where its obsession has bled over into Daia herself. Even more potently, it bears deep within its core the secret to a martial art concocted by the Dragon of Not himself, whose charms grant the power to ignore the limits of impossibility at the cost of making the wielder more and more alien to the waking world. It is a temptation that Daia has drunk deep of, despite all signs pointing to that being a very bad idea. Daia sees the spear as a trophy stolen from her greatest nemesis, but it’s very possible the Yozi himself sees it as a clever snare for hubristic Sidereals. The blade of the weapon is prismatic crystal that resembles a jagged bird’s beak, the pole is jet black starmetal shot through with an orichalcum starmap of constellations, and the orichalcum pommel is fashioned to look like seven golden peacock feathers woven together into a sphere.

While her exaltation may brand Daia a chosen of the Maidens, the elder Sid is a loose cannon, an agent of Heaven in only the most general of terms. She is mercurial, theatrical, fond of causing petty chaos, and utterly disinterested in the politics of the Bureau, unless there is way for her to stir up drama. She has tendency to get ahead of herself with her schemes, and the vast majority of her ‘downfalls’ can be traced back to her own hubris. Beneath all that, she is a lonely woman who feels adrift in a world that no longer feels real to her. She’s a terrible flirt, a huge showoff (especially where martial arts are involved) and has a weak spot for dangerous women. She’s Creation’s wildest and worst gay aunt.

Side Note: Daia is partially deaf, due to an old and potent supernatural injury. She employs the use of what magic/technology she can to aid her, but relies as well on sign language and interpreters. She’s very used to it at this point.

Avenging Phoenix- Dawn Caste Solar (Formerly Ravenous Vulture Picks Clean the Bones of Creation, Dusk Caste Abyssal)

Orphaned at an early age, Phoenix was adopted by a Guild mercenary and raised as such. He spent his later mortal life as a city guard captain in Thorns, where he exalted during the fateful siege itself, disillusionment and rage at the circumstances of his death making him an easy recruit for the Mask. His path has weaved far and wide since then, a slow painful crawl from rebellion to eventual redemption; a journey that ultimately gave him a place among the saviors of Creation. Along the way, he played a role in liberating a group of orphaned children from the clutches of the Dowager, and now finds himself settling into the role of an adoptive dad to them, hanging up his metaphorical (and literal) axe and trying to live a gentler life. It’s not always easy. Violence and trauma etched in that deep doesn’t just smooth out perfectly over time. On top of that, he has impostor’s syndrome when it comes to his redemption by the Sun, and still feels uncomfortable thinking of himself as a peer to the other members of the Solar Host. Still, as long as his soul is on this side of Lethe, he is determined to fight against the Void- not because he considers himself antithesis to it, but because he has known it and survived it. And while some days it’s hard, other days it feels like, maybe, fighting against the void can be planting sunflowers for your children on a sunny spring afternoon.

Phoenix is of Western descent, very short, fat, and beefy, with warm brown skin and a round, open face.  He keeps his burgundy hair closely shaved, not fond of dealing with the mess of wavy curls it becomes when allowed to grow out. His eyes are dark brown, almost black, the outside of the iris rimmed with the faintest edge of golden yellow. His nose looks like it has been broken multiple times in the past, and never properly healed. Due to unfortunate wyld misadventures his tongue has been mutated to resemble and function like that of a frog’s, though this is only really apparent when he opens his mouth to use the damn thing. Frogs and toads are a definite motif for him in general- small, grumpy-looking, and round as they are.

Phoenix’s casual clothes tend to be simple, comfortable, loose, and in sharp contrast to his prickly combat garb. He enjoys floral patterns, and the color pink. He’s got a very ‘open hawaiian shirt and flip flops dad’ vibe, basically. He does not dress fancily unless pressed to for big occasions, and in those cases usually grudgingly follows the fashion direction of the one twisting his arm. When he’s on actual exalt business, he’s most frequently found wearing his armor; black jade full plate embellished with cruel-looking spikes, and occasionally a shaggy grey fur cloak made from the pelt of some hunting trophy. A horned skull helm, made from the skull of a nephwrack’s war-body, often completes this ensemble. The helmet is a minor artifact: when worn, it causes his eyes to glow balefully behind its sockets and makes his voice gravelly with deathly menace. He is reluctant to take it off unless he feels at ease in a situation.

Phoenix is somewhat bumbling and gruffly soft-spoken, with tendency to look more tired than he feels. Beneath this is a talent for strategic leadership and a determination that gets fiercer as the going gets tougher. On the battlefield, he is utterly terrifying when he needs to be, but would much prefer to be at home in his garden than on a battlefield these days.

His anima banner starts as burst of gold-and crimson fire that solidifies into the form of a fierce and predatory-looking phoenix, with aspects of a garda bird and a lammergeier both. It moves as he does across the battlefield, swooping and rising with each swing of his axe, its fierce eyes focused on his opponent. Additional refs:
