Il suf­fit d’éteindre son portable à peine quelques heures, et lorsqu’on le ral­lume, il pèse deux fois plus lourd par l’af­flux de mes­sages vocaux récents. Ensuite, il y a l’hyperstress. L’employé(e) à la caisse du super­marché ne vous adresse que rarement la parole, occupée à pass­er le plus vite pos­si­ble les codes-bar­res au scan­ner, car son effi­cac­ité et son ren­de­ment sont suiv­is à chaque instant par ordi­na­teur. Dans une étude de cinq ans por­tant sur trois mille salariés horaires, 88 % ont déclaré tra­vailler très dur, 68 % avoir tra­vail­lé très vite, 60 % n’avoir pas tou­jours fini leur tra­vail. Et 71 % ont déclaré qu’ils se sen­taient épuisés. Même les pas­teurs ne sont pas immu­nisés dans ce domaine. Près de la moitié finis­sent par démis­sion­ner, et lorsqu’on leur demande pourquoi, 80 % citent l’ef­fet négatif du min­istère pas­toral sur leur vie de famille. Alors, quel est le remède pour vain­cre le stress ? La paix ! Et où trou­ver la paix ? La Bible dit: « Accorde-toi donc avec Dieu, et tu auras la paix ; par là, ce qui te revien­dra sera bon ». Oui, lorsque vous vivez selon les principes claire­ment énon­cés dans la Bible, vous pou­vez avoir la paix et la prospérité.

Dizionario dei (dis)gusti

Agrumi

Frutti a me particolarmente graditi, specie perché trovo il loro succo estremamente dissetante. Il Limone poi merita una voce a parte.

Asparagi

Non li sopporto, specie se lessi. Con il loro gusto acquosamente insignificante ed il loro retrogusto decisamente troppo amarotico. Li mangio solo se spalmati con abbondante salsa ottenuta mischiando uova sode e senape.

Baci

Mi piacciono tutti, tranne i celeberrimi cioccolatini. Li trovo eccessivamente pastosi in bocca.

Ballo

Frequentare un corso di ballo è uno dei miei sogni per poter sperimentare la complicità con il proprio partner di pista. 

Carnevale

Un periodo dell'anno che, con il passare del tempo, apprezzo sempre meno perché ho sviluppato un'avversione piuttosto acuta per i travestimenti. Tuttavia, non posso dimenticare le due occasioni in cui mi sono vestita rispettivamente da cuoca, (io che entro in cucina solo per degustare i piatti preparati da altri) e da cowgirl (io che, la prima volta che sono salita su un cavallo per affrontare alcune sedute di ippoterapia, ho esclamato spaventata: 'ma il cavallo si muove!'.).

Ciliegie

Continuano ad essere tra i miei frutti preferiti nonostante all'età di 6 anni io ne abbia mangiata mezza terrina e tale imprudenza mi sia costata un'indigestione piuttosto dolorosa. Compleanno

Si tratta di una ricorrenza a cui tengo molto perché mi consente di ricordarmi (e di essere ricordata da) tutti coloro che hanno lasciato qualche traccia nella mia vita. A quanti sostengono poi che l'avvento di Facebook abbia snaturato i ricordi del compleanno, rispondo che il social si limita a farci memoria di una data. Rimane invece sempre a noi la decisione sul se e come fare gli auguri a quella persona.

Diario

Si tratta di uno dei generi letterari a cui mi ispiro più spesso, perché consente di mantenere la dimensione quotidiana della scrittura. Mentre quand'ero adolescente, me avevo uno segreto, con l'avvento dei social network, mi piace rendere pubblici i miei diari, perché ciò mi offre l'occasione di misurarmi con la responsabilità di ciò che decido di mettere a disposizione di tutti e, soprattutto, di come lo scrivo.

Dolci

Potendo scegliere tra dolce e salato, opto per il secondo. Anche se, quando mi capita l'occasione, mi concedo un dolce con la crema: una coccola per il palato.

Empatia

Una delle doti che preferisco in una persona, perché consente una speciale sintonia che apre al confronto sincero anche partendo da posizioni molto distanti.

Enigmistica

Trovo i giochi enigmistici piuttosto noiosi e ripetitivi. Infatti mi ricordo che, quando mi cimentavo a farne qualcuno, non lo finivo mai e anzi saltavo da uno all'altro: chiaro segno di noia, appunto.

Filosofia

Oltre ad essere la Facoltà che ho scelto è anche uno stile di vita che mi impone di mantenere il pensiero sempre attivo.

Formaggio

Forse in assoluto il cibo che preferisco in tutte le sue forme. A questo alimento è anche legato un dolcissimo ricordo d'infanzia. Quando stavo a scuola fino alle 16.45, mia madre portava con sé dei piccoli pezzi di formaggio che mi gustavo lungo il tragitto da scuola a casa, non prima però di averli scovati nella borsa di mamma, in una sorta di caccia al tesoro.

Fotografie

Non mi piace scattarle per due motivi: mi vengono male anche in quest'epoca in cui si usa lo smartphone, e poi preferisco vivere le emozioni dal vivo, piuttosto che immortalarle. Adoro invece ricevere le foto dei miei Amici per sentirmi partecipe dei loro momenti speciali, anche quando non posso essere lì con loro.

Gatti

Trattasi di animali domestici che non mi sono mai piaciuti particolarmente perché, quand'ero bambina, una zia di mio padre, me li metteva sulle ginocchia e loro, percependo la mia tensione, estraevano le unghie per difendersi.

Giallo

Colore che da sempre associo alla gioia e alla positività del sole. Mi ricordo che, quand'ero piccola, avevo una tutina gialla che mi piaceva particolarmente perché sul davanti, era disegnato un cappello di paglia, ovvero quell'oggetto che ci permette di godere solo degli aspetti positivi del sole.

Goccia cinese

Definisco così l'esasperante atteggiamento di chi, persevera in comportamenti scorretti nei confronti dell'Altro, anche dopo che questi ha manifestato apertamente il suo disagio a riguardo. Una doverosa precisazione: la goccia cinese è una forma di tortura (quindi una forma di violenza su cui non mi permetterei mai di scherzare). Nella mia voce del Dizionario intendo questa espressione in maniera ironica; infatti dalla Goccia cinese si può sempre trovare il modo di scappare. Pena diventare colpevoli di Lamentele.

Gossip

Non ho alcun problema nel dire che, nelle Riviste, le pagine di gossip, non mancano mai di suscitare in me una certa curiosità (specie se riguardano i Reali). Ho scoperto che occuparsi di Gossip è un modo per essere curiosi del Mondo che ci circonda.

Influencer

Termine che imperversa in questi ultimi anni. Sta ad indicare la persona che riesce ad avere gusti e stili di vita talmente particolari da trascinare molte altre persone nella stessa direzione. Ma, se ci pensiamo un attimo, non può certo sfuggirci il favore che questa radice di Influenza, una situazione che condiziona la nostra quotidianità a volte anche in modo piuttosto pesante.

Italiano

La nostra lingua, quella che ho amato sin da piccola a casa ma anche e soprattutto, a scuola, grazie alle ottime insegnanti che ho sempre avuto e che mi hanno fatto scoprire (anche) la passione per la scrittura.

Lamentele

Sacrosante in alcuni casi (chi dice di non lamentarsi mai, secondo me, mente in maniera spudorata). In altre circostanze esse risultano piuttosto fastidiose. Accade quando si pone al lamentante questa domanda: 'Cosa stai facendo o hai provato a fare per modificare la situazione in cui ti trovi?' E la candida risposta è: 'Nulla'.

Libri

Ho scritto molto (qualcuno potrebbe dire fin troppo), su questo tema; eppure, non me la sono proprio sentita di escludere tale parola da questo piccolo Dizionario. Questa volta però ho deciso di raccontare un un aneddoto che credo pochi conoscano. A parte quelle scolastiche, la mia prima lettura che ho affrontato da sola sono state Le avventure di Calimero. Ricordo che, mentre leggevo, chiedevo a mamma, papà e sorella il significato di ogni parola. Non sto scherzando: una volta ho chiesto persino il significato della parola il. Dopodiché le ho realizzato che, se fossi andata avanti di quel passo, non sarei mai arrivata alla fine del libro.

Limone 

Sin da piccola ho adorato il suo gusto aspro della sua polpa mescolato a quello lievemente salino della buccia. E sarà stata proprio questa mescolanza di sapori a farmi rifiutare, quella mattina a colazione, le fette di limone spolverate di zucchero perché giudicate troppo acide. Ancora oggi, nelle sere d'estate eccessivamente calde, ho l'abitudine di bere un bicchiere d'acqua fresca con il succo di mezzo limone e alcune fettine in superficie che, una volta finita l'acqua, costituiscono la gioia del mio palato. Posso permettermi di fare tutto questo in sicurezza, perché abbiamo numerose piante di limoni (non trattati, ovviamente).

Mare

Un po' come per i libri, anche sul mare ho scritto molto. Ciò di cui non ho ancora parlato è il fatto che, mentre quand'ero piccola, le vacanze al mare mi erano state prescritte dal medico e quindi sono state 'imposte' alla mia famiglia, ora ci vado solo se riesco a trovare qualcun altro con cui condividere questa esperienza. E devo dire che, in questi ultimi due anni, l'ho sempre trovato.

Menta

Ora mangio volentieri la frittata con la menta Brooklyn perché è una varietà dal sapore delicato, ma conservo un ricordo d'infanzia tutt'altro che piacevole. Un giorno, una mia vicina di casa mi offrì una caramella alla menta glaciale perché - mi disse - a mio nipote non piacciono. All'epoca, io avevo quattro anni, il nipote della generosa signora ne aveva dodici!

Montagna

La montagna, al contrario del mare, non mi è mai piaciuta. L'ho sempre considerata un luogo opprimente e deprimente; forse perché, non potendoci camminare, non ho mai trovato nulla d'interessante da fare. L'unico periodo della mia vita durante il quale mi sono divertita pur essendo in montagna appunto, sono stati gli anni dei campiscuola con l'oratorio. Perché, in fondo, le montagne facevano solo da cornice alle varie attività che spesso non aveva nulla a che vedere con essa. Un'ultima nota in punta di penna: la prima e ultima volta che ho provato a scrivere una poesia di elogio ai monti, l'ho regalata alla persona che me l'aveva chiesta, ma per me non ne ho tenuta alcuna copia, magari per rileggerla nel corso del tempo, come mi è capitato spesso con altre poesie.

Nave

Noci

Uno dei due frutti che proprio non sopporto (l'altro è la Zucca). Esse sono però anche protagoniste di un siparietto divertente tra me e mamma. Nel nostro dialetto le noci si chiamano Coccole e quando le chiedo di farmi le coccole, ridendo mi dice: 'Ma se le noci non ti piacciono!'.

Ordine

Mantenerlo, per esempio nella mia stanza, mi dà un senso di (ritrovata) tranquillità. Al contrario, mal sopporto l'idea di impartirli. Preferisco la condivisione, anche quando si tratta di chiedere aiuto per superare i limiti imposti dal mio corpo.

Orologio

Strumento che suscita su di me un certo fascino a causa delle sue insite contraddizioni. I suoi complicati ingranaggi, infatti, scandiscono in modo freddamente preciso, un tempo che percepisco in modo del tutto personale; passando cioè dall'ansia dell'attesa del ritorno (o dell'arrivo) di una persona cara, alla segreta speranza che se ne vada tutto in frantumi, lasciandomi il tempo di stare con te.

Pantaloni

Indumento che, specie da bambina, non sopportavo. Lo consideravo decisamente poco femminile, preferendo le meno pratiche gonne. Ricordo un giorno di Pasqua in cui, a dispetto dell'aria fredda ed umida, mi ero intestardita a voler mettere il completo di giacca e gonna, che la mamma mi aveva confezionato con tanto amore e cura. Salvo poi chiedere, più volte nel corso della Messa, quanto mancasse alla fine, per poter tornare finalmente a casa ed infilare un paio di pantaloni (che restavano sempre poco femminili, ma pur sempre più caldi.

Penne

Conoscendo la mia passione per la scrittura, molte persone a me molto care, in passato mi hanno regalato delle Penne anche molto particolari. Le conservo tutte con affetto ma, alla fine uso sempre quelle usa e getta a causa della propensione a calcare, che rovina immancabilmente le punte, nonché della mia distrazione che me ne fa perdere più di qualcuna.

Pesce

Da bambina lo odiavo, spaventata com'ero dall'idea d'ingoiare uno spino. Ora lo adoro in tutte le salse (con o senza spine). L'anno scorso è capitato che, per un periodo che mi è sembrato interminabile, per un piccolo disturbo di salute, non ho potuto mangiare pesce fritto. Dire che ne ho sofferto, sarebbe certamente esagerato, ma di sicuro mi ha leggermente infastidito. Quando il tutto è rientrato, la prima cosa che ho fatto è stata concedermi un buon fritto misto!

Quadri

L'arte figurativa non è mai stata nelle mie corde, forse perché non l'ho mai studiata in modo serio e sistematico. Tuttavia, c'è un quadro che non ha mai mancato di suscitare emozioni: si tra de Il Bacio di Gustav Klimt, di cui ho comprato una riproduzione durante il mio viaggio a Vienna.

Quiz

Mi sono divertita a crearne alcuni per te che volevi allenarsi per partecipare ad un quiz televisivo. Io stessa, anni fa, avevo mandato la mia candidatura a Chi vuol essere Milionario e spesso, già a quei tempi, pensavo che mi sarebbe piaciuto scrivere le domande. 

Riviste

Rappresentano le mie letture leggere che alterano a quelle decisamente più impegnative dei romanzi. I rotocalchi sono anche uno spunto per scoprire nuovi stili di scrittura da sperimentare.

Roma

Città particolarmente ambigua di cui ricordo, da un lato, il viaggio con i miei più cari Amici, nel 2007 e dall'altro il mio ritorno nella Capitale nel 2013. Entrambi furono viaggi piuttosto faticosi ma, mentre nel primo, ho avuto la possibilità di superare gli ostacoli attraverso l'ironia, nella seconda occasione, ci sono state solo molte difficoltà, senza spazio per l'ironia, che non sarebbe stata apprezzata dagli altri viaggiatori.

Scrittura

Così come è capitato per il Mare ed i Libri, ho scritto talmente tanto che, forse, pensereste che questa voce non sia nemmeno necessaria. Ed invece perché non ho raccontato spesso che, fino agli anni universitari, odiavo la scrittura al computer con tutte le mie forze; poi, un giorno, mio malgrado, ho dovuto persino crearmi una casella mail. Così, seppur per gradi e molto lentamente, ho cominciato ad accostarmi alla scrittura al computer. E proprio ora, mentre scrivo, mi viene in mente che il passaggio dalla scrittura a mano a quella al computer, può essere paragonata al momento in cui ho scoperto che in casa c'era una macchina da scrivere. Ricordo che sui suoi tasti, ho trascorso interi pomeriggi. 

Sedie

Le ho odiate sin da piccola, specie quelle senza braccioli che mettevano alla prova (e per la verità lo mettono alla prova tutt'ora) il mio precario senso dell'equilibrio. C'è stato un tempo poi, in cui non sopportavo la mia sedia a rotelle, ambiguo simbolo di prigione (per tutto ciò che, a causa sua, non posso fare) e libertà (di muovermi nonostante non possa camminare automamente).

Temporale

Ne ho una paura folle. Quella sera, sulla strada per Trieste, eravamo stati sorpresi da un violento acquazzone. Arrivati davanti alla palazzina in cui alloggiavo, un boato fortissimo. Un bagliore. Un grido. Poi più nulla. Se non la drammatica consapevolezza che la mamma fosse morta. Naturalmente non era vero; ma la paura dei fulmini, da quel giorno, fu qualcosa di estremamente reale, che ancora mi porto addosso.

Trieste

La città dove ho frequentato l'Università e in cui, soprattutto, ho lasciato un pezzetto di cuore; la città ricca di storia, romanticismo e di mare, dove avrei voluto vivere per continuare a studiare. 

Università

Già, lo studio. Ne avrei fatto volentieri una delle mie ragioni di vita perché mi ha sempre offerto la possibilità di mettermi in gioco, senza mai sentire il peso del mio handicap.

Urlo

Mi riferisco allo squillo del telefono che, se suona mentre sto dormendo, nella mia mente si trasforma in un annuncio di eventi drammatici. Tanto che, specie quando sono sola in casa, preferisco tenerlo a portata di mano, per non dover correre a rispondere con il respiro reso affannoso dalla paura.

Vivacità

Mi piace circondarmi di persone vivaci che mi permettono di prendermi una pausa da me stessa. Ne avverto la necessità soprattutto quando attraverso momenti leggermente cupi, quelli in cui mi ripiego ostinatamente su me stessa. 

Venezia

Città da sempre problematica ed altamente inospitale, persino nell'unico mezzo a disposizione per raggiungerla: il treno. Ricordo il giorno in cui, durante l'ultimo anno di Liceo, c'era il giro di visite agli Atenei (compreso quello in Laguna, ovviamente). Per l'occasione era stato prenotato un treno provvisto di pedana; peccato che si trattasse di una pedana fantasma. La soluzione? Caricarmi sul vagone riservato al trasporto delle biciclette. Tanto, in fatto di ruote le battevo 4 a 2!

Zia

In realtà ne ho molte, specie da parte paterna. Tuttavia, la zia a cui sono maggiormente legata è la mia madrina di Cresima. Ha chiesto di poter avere questo ruolo, proprio per essermi vicina anche e soprattutto nei momenti più difficili della mia vita. In particolare quelli in cui mia mamma è stata male ed io sono stata travolta dal folle terrore di perderla. Nell'abbraccio di mia zia ho potuto dare sfogo a tutte le mie lacrime riuscendo al tempo stesso, a pensare con relativa serenità anche a come sarà la mia esistenza oltre la mia famiglia.

Zucca

Il suo sapore eccessivamente dolciastro non mi è mai piaciuto. L'unica volta in cui sono riuscita a mangiare i tortelli di zucca trovandoli speciali, è stata appunto a casa di mia zia. Ricordo che li aveva conditi con del gorgonzola fuso, che conferiva loro un gusto piacevolmente piccante. Li ricordo con particolare affetto, nonostante fossi a pranzo dagli zii perché mamma stava male.

Questa é Catalina. Fa rap, insegna ai bambini e "nel tempo libero" porta in giro i turisti per il suo quartiere, che fino a ieri era uno dei più pericolosi di tutto la Colombia: la Comuna 13 di Medellín. Collabora con l'associazione Casa Kolacho e dopo i primi 5 minuti in cui presenta sé stessa, il tour e il suo Barrio ho già capito che lei é un vero bomber.

"Stai attenta in Colombia, é pericoloso" mi dicevano tutti.

A ripensarci mentre sono qui ci sarebbe da chiedersi "Ma perché?!?!"

La realtà é che nel 2020 la Colombia é un posto godibile, le città sono grandi ma vivibili, i servizi (almeno quelli turistici, comunicazione e trasporti) funzionano bene, anche quelli digitali (a volte meglio che in Italia!) e effettivamente non hai percezione di pericolo quasi da nessuna parte.

Ma non é sempre stato così.

Nel 2002, mentre la mia peggiore preoccupazione era quella di non avere il debito in latino, il governo colombiano sferrava un attacco via terra e via aria (!!) su questo quartiere abbarbicato sulle colline di Medellín nel quale non sapeva (e non poteva sapere con alcuna certezza!) quali fossero davvero i "nemici" ovvero coloro che facevano parte della guerriglia urbana. Guardate le foto: non c'è alcuno spazio fre le case, spesso sono costruite letteralmente una sopra all'altra, ma la "conquista" di questo territorio significava il controllo di alcune importanti vie di accesso alla città.

Fra il 2006 e il 2016 (2016!!!) mentre io facevo esami di finanza, correggevo le etichette del Bionsen o creavo portali intranet, finalmente dopo 50 anni di un conflitto civile di tutti contro tutti inizia un processo di dialogo, pacificazione e "restaurazione" (mi piace molto questo concetto - dovrei tornarci).

Io sono cresciuta in un paesino praticamente sulla linea Gotica e conosco le ferite oscure e ambigue che la guerra ha lasciato nei miei nonni, nella loro generazione e in quelle successive. Qualche anno fa sono stata in Vietnam, che ora é un luogo magnifico, pieno di cultura, ma che porta ancora un'amara diffidenza verso lo straniero e le sue richieste imperialistiche.

50 anni di violenza INTERNA (perché é questo il discorso: nessun invasore, nessun salvatore, solo tu che sceglievi di o venivi scelto per, essere dalla parte giusta o sbagliata di una linea invisibile) porta ad un cataclisma interiore nelle persone e, credo, all'impossibilità di fidarsi di chiunque, soprattutto del tuo vicino di casa.

Significa che le persone della mia età che nel mio paese lottano per avere una posizione, esprimere la propria identità e il proprio talento, qui oggi possono vivere altrettanto bene, ma lottano con sé stesse per uscire da un sistema di pensiero che in effetti può solo intrappolarle. Un sistema fatto di rancore, diffidenza e aggressività.

Oggi a Medellín ci sono bambini che sono già nati nella pace, ma hanno genitori che per qualche motivo, forse solo per fortuna sono sopravvissuti ad assassinii o rapimenti, da parte dei propri concittadini o addirittura dello Stato.

I genitori di Catalina sono stati assassinati e di fianco al suo Barrio si estende una zona boscosa che ospita i cadaveri di centinaia di suoi amici. Non si sa quanti perché sono stati deposti lí dal governo dopo gli attacchi, ma forse non lo ammetterá mai.

Lei però ci parla di amore e di musica. Ci racconta il significato dei graffiti del Barrio e ci ringrazia perché con la nostra visita, con le nostre compere, con le foto e i racconti che porteremo fuori da qui stiamo contribuendo alla trasformazione della sua società e per questo la sua casa, Casa Kolacho, é anche la nostra casa.

E io la adoro. Per questo motivo oggi parlo di lei.

Stasera ho paura. Ho paura che qualcosa sia davvero cambiato in me e nessuno se ne sia accorto. Ho parlato con babbo al telefono. Gli ho parlato poco perhè avevo il magone e avrei rischiato di piangere, facendolo preoccupare per niente. Per niente mica tanto, ma insomma. Ho attacchi di panico che vanno avanti da settimane ormai e onestamente non so come reagire. Non so se morirò davvero in quei momenti, non so se qualcuno mi troverà stesa per terra mentre chiedo di smettere di far rimbombare il mondo. Lo sento sbatacchiarmi nelle orecchie, il mondo. Sembra che mi possa opprimere da un momento all'altro. Non ho mai avuto crisi del genere. Ansia si, normalissima ansia, un po' esagerata a volte, ma comprensibile. Questi attacchi sono aualcosa di diverso: mi sembra che nulla possa andare più bene, che tutto stia inesorabilmente cadendo in un baratro e io non posso fare nulla per evitarlo. Ho la sensazione di implodere e nessuno può fRe niente. Il pensiero costante di questi giorni è la paura. La paura di deluderli. Vedere sui loro volti l'espressione di sconfitta, vedere gli occhi di mia nonna che non sono più orgogliosi di chiamarmi nipote. Vedo già la delusione in quelli di babbo, come quelle volte che portavo cinque e mezzo a matematica, ma tanto sapevamo che nella vita non avrei fatto disequazioni. Sapevamo cosa avrei fatto nella vita, o forse credevamo. Io non lo so più. Nulla mi smuove, nulla mi emoziona, nulla mi tocca. Mi scivola tutgo addosso e sento ogni singolo muscolo piegarsi sotto la pressione. Sto scrivendo per far passare questo attacco di panico ma non funziona. Non funziona perchè io sono convinta che domani deluderò tutti. Domani andrò in quell'aula e tutto auello che ero crollerà. La figlia brava, la nipote studiosa, la sorella intelligente. Tutto se ne andrà. E rimarrà solo la delusione nei loro occhi, che mi si stamperà addosso come un adesivo, uno di quelli che quando provi a togliere rimane tutta la carta attaccata. Uno schifo insomma.

ramble time ^_^ so from left to right:

rampire byte - non binary/demigender + bisexual (basically just my identities minus the aroace stuff LOL)

libellule - non binary + bi + demiaroace (muse doesnt seem like the type to just Fall for people, but when muse does it falls HARD. its only happened like once or twice.)

sauterelle - non binary + lithoromantic + toric (tbh i think they exclusively like men, but doesnt actually want to pursue anything serious. the toric label just feels more right than just Gay though.)

ruby - queer + trans (REALLY hard to see the queer but its there. trans thing was accidentally bc i didnt remember only male turkeys have big tails, but then i was like "oh wait she can be trans". I dont think she has a specific label on her identity, but its definitely not straight)

lukah - biromantic + ace (it came to me in a vision)

fres - trans + queer (similar to ruby he definitely isnt straight but isnt sure how yet)

ciel - non binary/transfem (they're unsure about romance/sexuality and all that but they sure are a girlthing.)

parmy - questioning ("i might be queer but i got a job so idc about that rn")

This is The Gang™️. Their lores kind of intertwine but I can't share all of it because some of it involves other people. But I will say what I can! From left to right we got:

THE LIABILITY

(AKA: Libellule LaCroix)

- my favorite. This guy is wanted by C.O.G.S Inc. for trying to expose their toxic business practices. Don't get it twisted though, the toons hate him for crashing their karts and robbing their stores. She doesn't like talking to people.

- Muse moves playgrounds almost daily. He prefers toon clothes so whenever he can, libellule will steal some. She's paranoid all the time which isn't great but it makes quick getaways easier. They're pretty easy to agitate, but not necessarily mean. Not anymore.

- Didn't have a lot of friends besides muse's twin, but has since befriended a certain manager in acorn acres. Yeah. Befriended. No don't look at my discord PFP focus on this. That aside muse has a lot of enemies... like a LOT of them. To the point that Libellule automatically assumes everyone doesn't like them.

- A liability is "a thing for which someone is responsible, especially a debt or financial obligation."

THE RECORDHOLDER

(AKA: Sauterelle LaCroix)

- So his ACTUAL job is keeping track of their department's finances but they really wanna be a singer. Sauterelle totally thinks he'd rock the Sellbot department, but was placed in Cashbot territory for their past in finances.

- An overall nice guy but definitely has an "I'm-better-than-you" aura. Loves attention and gets extremely upset when that isn't given. When it comes to toons that reaches levels of (cartoonish) violence. He's actually kinda stupid though, they get manipulated very easily.

- Was easily clocked as a northerner by the L.A.A so they had tension for a bit but they're friends now. Sauterelle hates both the Major Player and the Pacesetter, mainly due to jealousy and possibly insecurity. Can put it aside for the Major Player, not for the Pacesetter.

- A recordholder is "a professional who manages, maintains, and keeps track of records or information." it is more commonly known as "a person or thing that has achieved something no other person or thing has achieved."

THE BLATHERSKITE

(AKA: Fres Nell)

- Once a stagehand, now works maintenance and occasional advertising for the Sellbot department. Don't worry though he still does plenty of stagehand stuff for his good friend in the Bossbot department. He's a borderline theater kid. Maybe even a full one.

- Possibly the nicest person you will meet in C.O.G.S Inc. He's friendly, selfless, and oh man is he talkative. This man never ever shuts up. Fres is always finding ways to help people, and he doesn't even care if they're toons! What a nice guy. Except for when he's making excuses for his less-than-stellar colleagues. That's not cool.

- Considers himself friends with everyone, but has gotten along with the Mouthpiece since he recently joined her club. He's only mediocre at the craft, but loooooves to chat! It probably drives the Case Manager and the Featherbedder up the wall. Oops.

- A blatherskite is "a person who talks at great length without making much sense."

THE AUTEUR

(AKA: Ciel Apper)

- Sadness, despair, melancholy, all of those emotions are what inspire Ciel. They are a director who works from the heart... turns out their heart is merely a shell of what it once was. Having gone solo for years, Ciel is now looking for a company who can understand and possibly foster new visions for cinema.

- A direct suit, Ciel is usually deadpan and quiet. If they say anything more than a sentence to you, it probably means they like you. They are infamous for their vague directions, which makes working with them as an actor a nightmare. Even more so since they're so stuck in their head.... they can't see the suffering of their actors. Or maybe they can, and just don't care.

- Ciel mostly locks themselves up in their studio. In order to get them to go ANYWHERE you either have to drag them out or threaten them. It's not like anyone tolerates their airheadedness besides Fres though. Despite Ciel being somewhat passive, they do have a restraining order on the Pacesetter.

- An auteur is "a filmmaker whose personal influence and artistic control over a movie are so great that the filmmaker is regarded as the author of the movie."

THE TOP DOG

(AKA: Lukah Updohg)

- You'd think someone with that title would be pretty important, but that's not quite true. Lukah is the sole member of the "Toon-Cog Relations Committee" which works to try and settle the Toon-Cog conflict peacefully. It's not working at all, so the higher-ups just send her paperwork that nobody else wants to do.

- Lukah is reserved, but by no means quiet. She'll fight vehemently for what's right, more than what many would expect out of a pacifist like her. The mediation tactics she uses work wonders on smaller conflicts, but Lukah would rather go for the bigger picture. Her job is not done without the conflict being over for good.

- Many are suspicious of her. After all, why would any cog care about things like "pollution" or "preserving toon humor?" She knows lots of people try to look into her, so she stays far far away from most employees. If she got along with any other suit it would either be the Deep Diver or the C.O.O due to their respect for the environment.

- A top dog is "a person who is successful or dominant in their field."

Anywho! Thank you for expressing interest in them! I hope to eventually have more art of them but most of it is just doodles.... and the occasional self indulgence. Don't worry about it.

I want to know more bout your Toon Town OC (even tho I don’t really know the game much) But I don’t know what to ask. So~ any random info on any of them so I can get ideas on what to ask in the future?

i find it somewhat difficult to answer questions that are vague like this.... but i suppose i can elaborate on the stories a bit.

this is a shared universe between me and a friend, and it wasnt really designed to be told through traditional means. that being said there are different "plots" that certain character fits into.

below are which characters fall into what: Bolded are my characters, italicized are my friend's, and emptied are canon characters.

These two frequently show up in both plotlines... usually as an antagonistic force. Depending on who you ask it's either "the worst thing to come out of COGS Inc." or "a miracle that whale is alive".

There are a few minor characters too. Such as most of the toons: (Parmousan, Little Ruby Featherflap) or some other cogs (Rolland Riele, Sirrus Monsoon). but otherwise those are the main guys.
