When Machete became a cardinal, did his parents ever recognize him?

Machete's home village was on the other side of Italy (and separated by the sea no less) and it was small, relatively rural and remote. It's very unlikely many news about Holy See's happenings made their way there. I don't think his parents had any reason to expect to ever hear about him again, he seemed to be somewhat of a lost cause when they dropped him off.

this relationship between the emperor and his favorite concubine is something else. because apparently she was his DAD'S concubine and she reminds him of his mom...he's like you're the only connection i have to my mother (presumably because she was friends with his mom, because they were concubines of the same guy, and because after his mom died she used to take care of him and make him the food his mom used to make him because she "loves children") and i'm sitting there like 😬 ok where are we going with this. then i get to the end of the show and discover they weren't going anywhere with it in particular. they were just like, we want this guy to have a mommy complex and we want you to know about it. okay. thanks i guess...

This poor guy will not only have to deal with Regressor Cale, but Regressor Choi Han AND Kim Roksoo. Those three will never let the opportunity to tease Alberu slip by. Also I find this one scene really funny because Alberu is absolutely thinking to himself ‘what the hell was that’ when he made eye contact with Cale, the young master of the Henituse family who is famous for his brutal honesty and words, is smiling at him in a way that reminded Alberu too much of himself.

Realistically, there should be no way the young master knows anything about him, not when they had only exchanged a few greetings in passing. Sure, the Henituse county was rich, but they had no reason to dig for information on him unless he provoked them. So why did it feel like Cale Henituse knew something very important about him?

another rik and ade multiverse tie in headcanon: in 'contest' when eddie says his choices are either apologize to richie or it's nasty linda's (shudder), nasty linda is eddie's sister, who is vyvyan's mom, and who eddie used to stay with until he learned he could mooch off live with richie rent free. and she was nasty because her drinking was on-par with eddie's and she would snatch his drinks up/fight him for any drinks left in the house (so much easier for eddie to have the drinks to himself after moving away bc richie can barely handle a sip of alcohol.) plus her son was a brat who would do things like fill the pint glasses he left lying around with drinks that'd make his hair fall out

also, there's a trend of men with "girl's" names in the family... vyvyan, eddie's middle name elizabeth, eddie's great uncle susan...

I've been watching a lot of 'myths explained' videos recently and it got me thinking. What if I made a mythos for Sonic? I'd only have like seven things to work with (Chaos, Mephiles, Iblis, Dark and Light Gaia, The End, and the Time Eater) and I'd have to make up a lot of stuff to fill in the gaps, but I'm interested now. I'm gonna do it.

yakuza 6 is a much smaller game than yakuza 5, without the pervasive melancholy and the sprawling cast, and i'm not quite sure what i make of it at this point. i appreciate the tighter focus (even if i loved y5's picaresque), and particularly the ways the game is willing to really drill into the way kiryu is flailing as he settles into middle age, and how he's making the wrong choices as a result of it. the sidelining of haruka sucks; she's a character that is frequently ushered out into the wings for the endless second act of these games, but the way her agency is taken away in this game in particular feels faintly rancid. the fact that you learn that she's been the victim of some horrific violence in the same instant you learn that she's become sexually active is… not great. the series as a whole isn't terribly judgmental about women having sex—or, rather, it doesn't punish its women for being sexually active the way a lot of stories do—but it does have a bad habit of killing or harming its plot-bearing women, and the game using haruka's sexual activity as a proxy for her adulthood, and that adulthood meaning she's now available to be a victim of violence sucks. haruka's relationship with kiryu, separate from kiryu's relationship with haruka, has always been one of the series' strongest suits. haruka as a character is able to question him in a way other characters can't, because kiryu can't simply walk away from her, the way he does with adult women he gets close to, and he can't simply punch her into agreement, the way he does with the men in his life, and to have all that narrative tension resolved before the story even properly starts? it's a weaker story for it.

and the especially frustrating part is that haruka being awake and participating in the story doesn't do anything except improve things. the game can't function if kiryu is constantly saddled with haruto, so it has him hand his grandchild off to complete strangers repeatedly when he's in onomichi, and if haruka were awake, she could simply care for her own child while he goes off to try to find the father. she could be in onomichi with him, which would both streamline the bizarro logistical hoops the game hops through to park haruto somewhere and allow her to actively argue with kiryu about his fucked up decision to go back to jail. that decision—to functionally abandon his children for the sake of his own pride—is the real question at the heart of the story, and the game can only approach in obliquely, because it's silenced the only character who could make it more than subtext.

all that being said, though, the game itself is delightful? the substory writing remains world class, and the game's mood and tone and virtual tourism remain second to none. it's just frustrating that I'm something like 500 hours into this series and they still haven't figured out how to structure their A plots.

so i was looking into what age daeron was when he was sent off to oldtown. and it says he was 12. so, unless he's been aged up to be closer in age to aemond, i don't see why he was not in the episodes the princess and the queen and driftmark. there's literally NO EXCUSE for a little daeron to not have been there. he is at least four years younger than aemond. i do not believe alicent would want her son sent off at a very young age even with how we have seen her as a parent. the writers have no legitimate excuse to have not include daeron for at least two episodes especially we lost harwin and laena in the SAME EPISODE. laenor LEAVES IN THE NEXT ONE. it's literally frustrating to me because WHO CARES ABOUT ONE MORE WHITE HAIRED CHARACTER. anyways, daeron was in both episodes. he was following alicent around. i know this because she told me. he watched his brothers train with his nephews. he gave his sister a cool rock he found. he was at driftmark too. mainly, he was trying to swim cause he likes water but he wasn't allowed to. aemond had to get him to stop. he found more cool rocks to give his sibings and mom. he was there during That scene but he was half asleep and didn't really know what was going on other than the fact his brother was hurt and no one seemed to care but their mother. i am going to post an actual head canon for him for this as well.
