Why I believe that Shadow the Hedgehog is autistic!!!

Hi everyone! As of writing this, 2025s Autism Acceptance Month is coming to an end. So I want to do a little rant on why I think Shadow has Autism.

As some of you might know, I brought up this headcanon a few times this month, so I probably sound like a broken record at this point. But I've studied a lot of this characters' lore and personality traits that really motivated me to do this long overdue analysis. While I did mention other fictional characters I see as autistic in an earlier post, I'm choosing to do just Shadow for this, because as some of you might have noticed, my main interest has shifted from Amphibia to Sonic the Hedgehog with my favorite character being Shadow. But I assure you, I still plan to talk about my other interests, such as Amphibia, in future posts.

Before I begin, I want to clarify that this is just a headcanon and that I see myself in some of my favorite fictional characters all the time. So, if you don't think that Shadow is autistic, that's totally fine. I just want to voice my opinions, not start an argument like some people would do.

Also, I'm not the first Tumblr user to make a post about this hc. The first Tumblr user I saw made a post about it was @shortmobian. Here's the link to that post if you want to see it.

I will probably use some of the information from this post and do some that's not in this post because I'm autistic myself, and I find some of Shadow's quirks and mannerisms to be very relatable to me as well.

So, without further ado! Let's get started!

1. Hyper concentration

As a lot of us know, Shadow has a very goal driven nature and will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. Autistic people can be like this, as sometimes when we set off to achieve something, we won't rest until we achieve that goal. Kinda like how I'm determined to get this entire analysis done and posted before Autism Acceptance Month ends.

2. Poor Social Skills

Socializing and understanding social cues may be easy for some people, but for a lot of people on the spectrum (yes! me as well!), can seem like a challenge, and some prefer not to do it.

Shadow the Hedgehog is no exception to this, as he's usually very quiet and doesn't say much whenever he's around others, and even so, he's mostly seen standing around alone, and distance himself from everyone else as much as possible.

In Twitter Takeover no. 7, Knuckles even states that Shadow hardly ever talks when he doesn't need to. Hearing that is what really motivated me to do this post, because like Shadow, I'm quieter when I'm with people, even my family, and I often don't speak unless if I'm spoken to.

When Shadow does speak, he speaks in a monotone voice and makes it short but tends to say exactly what is on his mind in the most straightforward way possible.

He has his moments of being brutally honest and blunt, which occasionally makes him come out as rude or mean. Something Rouge called him out on Tails Tube episode 9.

Shadow is also pretty bad at following social protocol, as social cues often tend to go over Shadow's head, or he just completely ignores them.

Shown in Sonic X and The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, he's really bad with new people and at first showed a aloof or nasty attitude with the player and Molly for the first few interactions, but was somewhat more cordial towards everyone else, but not by much.

Not to mention that even after he recovered from his amnesia in his own spin-off game, he has his moments where he can be pretty gullible and comically bad at deciphering other people's intentions, as shown in Sonic Rivals 2. For the most part, he doesn't care for social interactions or activities at all and prefers to spend most of his time alone and do his own thing, for the reasons I mentioned in one of my screenshots here. While he did attend Amy's birthday party, he even dressed up and tried to get her a last-minute present. He still had to be bribed into attending to Sonic's birthday party by Rouge and reluctantly agreed.

Given his lone wolf nature, sometimes he prefers to solve any current situation at hand by himself. But does allow others such Sonic and his friends, or Rouge and Omega to help him, even when he doesn't need it. I can relate! Sometimes, I don't like working with others, and I least try to do things myself. Unless if I have or want to, and if they'll let me help.

3. Low Empathy

Like what @shortmobian said in their post, Shadow has a hard time emphasizing or connecting with other people's emotions. This leads to him doing what he thinks is right, without thinking or caring about other people's considerations. Which makes characters like Sonic fear what he'll do when he takes matters into his own hands.

But this does not mean that Shadow is some heartless jerk with no feelings. As Maria said in Sonic x Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings, he has a big heart and cares about others deep down. He just has trouble expressing his emotions and greatly limits his trust to anyone outside of Team Dark and Sonic and his friends.

Season 3 of Sonic Prime best shows just how loyal of an ally he can be when he does his best to keep Sonic out of Nine's clutches, and later pushes himself to his limits to save a dying Sonic from fading away. Which also shows that despite their often bitter rivalry, he does care for Sonic, even if he'll never admit it. Outiside of saving the world numerous time, he's also shown acts of heroism and kindness to others such as Rouge and Silver in Sonic Heroes and Sonic 06, shown when he saved Rouge at least once in both games, and he was even the reason why Silver realized his mistake and became an ally to Sonic and friends in Sonic 06. He even set aside his own goals to help his allies when they were in trouble a couple of times in Sonic 06 as well.

Aside from occasional anger or annoyance, Shadow also seems to prefer showing emotions whenever he's not around anyone else, specifically sadness, even his own allies, which I can relate to.

But when under a certain amount of stress or other emotion, he's shown to get pretty irritable with everyone else and will sometimes even lash out in anger.

4. Hates being touched

As @shortmobian put it, Shadow often hates when people unexpectedly touch him, and he will either react violently at the one responsible or just freeze entirely. Touch can be a sensory issue for autistics, and occasionally prefer to avoid contact with others unless we initiate it.

5. Avoids Eye Contact

Even when Shadow is having a direct conversation with someone, there will be times when he'll either partly look at people when he or others are talking or completely avoid looking at them altogether. Even when he does make eye contact. Sometimes, it's not long before he looks away from the person he's talking to. Eye contact can occasionally be uncomfortable for people with autism, and it can be hard for us to look at people directly at eye level even for a short time.

6. Stimming

Also stated by @shortmobian (if you see this post. I'm sorry for the constant mentions) Shadow occasionally stims during idle animation, such as playing with his quills, fidgeting with his gloves or inhibitor rings, etc. Stimming comes in many forms, and it helps autistic people feel more comfortable in their environment.

7. Specific routine preferences and special needs

Shadow revealed quite a lot of his eccentric habits on Sonic Twitter Takeovers, like his obsession with cats and his unique taste in his diet of coffee beans becoming a popular meme. In Sonic Twitter Takeover no. 6, when he was asked by RealShadowFan01 if he would marry them, he unexpectedly agreed, but only if they would follow his very strict set of rules, which they must accommodate to his needs and routine. Autistics and other neurodivergent people tend to prefer to have a daily routine and have specific needs to make us more comfortable and reduce anxiety.

8. He struggled with schoolwork

Don't get me wrong, Shadow is by no means stupid. If anything, he's one of the most intelligent characters in the Sonic Universe. Sure, he's no tech savvy like Tails or Eggman. He's still pretty close. But that's not to say that he did well in school, as seen in some artwork which later made its way into Gerald's Journal that he did go to school along with Maria on the ARK, showing him with an uninterested look compared to the more enthusiastic Maria, who even states that he never turned in a single assignment in school in Shadow Generations. While some autistic people excel in schoolwork, others like me tend to struggle a lot with certain assignments and barely pass each grade.

Well, that's about all I wanted to say. If you read this and made it this far. Let me know what you think, and as I said before, Shadow being autistic is just my headcanon. If you still don't think that Shadow has autism, that's totally fine. I'm just sharing my thoughts and opinions. If there's anything I missed, feel free to share your thoughts. I'm the last person you should ask. I don't do twitter, and by the time I woke up this morning the drama was well on the way.

But you know those journalists who get screeners in advance for review writing purposes? They have a habit of vague posting about the upcoming episode after watching the screener, but this time they seem eerily silent.

@houseofevanbuckley posted this screenshot of one of the usual suspects liking a tweet guessing the episode is probably awful. And that's it, I haven't seen her posting anything about the show since then, other than a vague tweet beefing with cheese blog.

Another journo posted this, then later clarified that it wasn't about the show, but about someone. It's just a hunch but I feel like this tweet is also about cheese blog. (Also could be about the Richard Siken incident, but I don't know if she's involved) Again, nothing more about the upcoming fall finale other than joking about ABC giving us nothing but stills from the very first scene of the episode.

The weirdest one is from him. He simply announced that he wouldn't be covering this episode at all, and instead opted to follow JLH's new movie. He usually has a lot of thoughts about the upcoming episode and would post his reactions generously, but this time, nothing at all.

This is weird, I've never seen any of them act like that. There's been rumor of screener receivers allegedly leaking major info to some group chats. I don't know if it's true, and I certainly don't know if that side of the fandom know something we don't about this midseason finale, but the general mood there is the most pessimistic I've ever seen. It ranges from "it's that bad huh?" to "we're so over".

The extremely limited amount of stills seems to indicate major plot twist(s) in the episode itself. Adding it to the fact that the usually chatty journalists have decided to beef with cheese blog instead of talking about the show, I think they've probably seen something they really didn't like.

Unnecessarily long thllda theories/predictions/analysis post

Hi! Very normal hundred line fan here :)

I’ve always wanted to make a predictions kind of post and I also just wanna yap about my thoughts on the game so far. I’ve been lurking on hndr tumblr + twt and have consumed a LOT of promo content. So I’m gonna dump my thoughts here before some promo trailer debunks all my theories! Be warned: this is gonna be long and unorganized, and i dont plan on proofreading it. Also, spoilers since im gonna use promo media from beyond the demo.

What happens for the next few days after Day 7

I’ve seen several images showing members from the current group talking about not having/looking for food. Im 99% sure the current group is gonna face a hunger situation (like in SDR2) but this time, the food is being gatekept by a fellow member-

I def think Hiruko is gonna set up some scheme to push the non-fighters to join the fight—even if it’s something like breaking the Ration-o-matic with her axe– to force the non-fighters to look for food. Since she’s been fighting invaders even before the entrance exam and seems a lot more war-focused than others, I think removing the group’s only food source wouldn’t be too far off for her. In the demo, she even said she didn’t think too hard about her situation in the TRC or the consequences of not fully understanding the war— the stance opposite of Eito in the demo. Or maybe it’s because she knows more? But anyway, this hunger sitch could in turn motivate Takumi to convince the non-fighters to join through a Shot Through the Heart-like minigame.

In this lets play, seeing that there's only 2 non-fighters who joined, maybe the player is only able to convince up to 2 non-fighters to join in the limited free time? The choice of who to recruit could also be one of the things that leads to different endings, which brings me to:

The Choice System - Are there really 100 endings?

I believe the multiple endings thing is more Uchikoshi’s lane. However other than Hndr, I really only know Danganronpa so I’m mostly using my imagination here. Luckily while I was writing this, we got an interview with Uchikoshi in the hundred line blogs ^^ It clarifies a bunch of things about the 100 endings so if you are still in doubt about that, I recommend reading it!

Just as the blog says, I do genuinely believe there will be 100 endings with different kinds of genres and storylines. The game probably has enough characters and mysteries to expand the game to that extent. My main worry though, is that once players get up to something like 30 endings, trying to finish the game might start to feel tedious. Was Hundred Line's story really worth expanding in 100 different ways, rather than focusing on creating fewer, but consistently dense stories?

If Hundred Line had, say, 50 endings, that number would still be impressive—and each one would probably feel more fleshed-out and memorable. But how well each ending holds up really comes down to the other 9 writers (who we don’t really know much about).

I’m keeping my hopes up, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if half the endings end up being a lot less interesting than the other half. Here’s a very rough representation of how I envision the choice/routes flowchart:

I remember reading somewhere (twitter maybe) Kodaka saying that players can go for routes where they can finish the game the fastest– so I do think some routes/endings are shorter than others. Having some shorter routes also makes 100 endings a bit easier to accomplish!

In the demo, we got to see a glimpse of the choice mechanic (I think it doesn’t actually count as 1 of the 100 endings though). Based on this, I think there will be certain “events” occurring throughout the game that ask the player to choose between 2 options. For example, the player needs to choose either to: try to save everyone or decide who to kill off (kinda like YTTD). There would be several routes with the same events but as the player’s choices stray further away from the “true” route, the routes branch off to new crazier routes. I do wonder if it’ll be clear which one is the “True route”, or if Kodaka/Uchikoshi will reveal it outside the game. The in-game flowchart, which I think will appear when we make the first “event choice”, is gonna be really helpful in showing all the different crazy route branches. To summarize, I think the endings will vary depending on:

Who you recruit

How many die permanently

Who and how many times someone dies in battle but gets hemoanima-revived

Who and how many times someone does the final blow

Random 2-option choices in important events (like in the demo)

Types of endings:

20 bad-ish endings that end before Day 50.

20 bad-ish endings that end before Day 80.

20 bad endings that reach Day 100 where only Takumi and 1 other character survive.

15 good endings that reach Day 100 where the majority of people survive.

15 good-ish endings that reach Day 100 where 3-5 people survive.

1 bad ending where only Takumi survives

1 good ending where everyone survives (true ending?)

The rest are bad endings where no one survives

There will probably be more to it– like gameplay mechanics that haven’t been revealed yet that also affect the endings.

More on that part where someone gets revived:

Hemoanima is def some double-edged sword. I’d say it’s like a representation of “power”, seeing that war is the game’s theme. In fact, I’m very interested to see how far the game goes in showing the nuances of war conflicts, the tragedy of losing members, complex relationships– all that good stuff! Hemoanima raises your power, but in turn, it can turn people insane, power-hungry, or even–

yeah this game is gonna be fucked up.

What made me like Danganronpa (despite its many flaws) was seeing how interesting characters deal with absurd out-of-the-ordinary scenarios. Maybe a beloved Chiaki-like character (im looking at you Nozomi) dies and almost everyone turns into despair-filled zombies. Or maybe they find *hope* and get through the rest of the 100 days together with the power of friendship! EIther way, I’m very excited to see these kinds of arcs in the game.

Something else I’m excited to see is:

In Joey’s interview, Kodaka mentions *gasp* that the story splits later on! This could just be referring to a different major plot event but my crazy theory is that Nozomi is our 2nd protagonist and the player will get the choice to play as Takumi or her. If 1 of them dies, we will be locked to the other protag. I’m not exactly sure how this 2-protags thing would work but if this is true, then the endings will be much more interesting!

Having Nozomi as the 2nd protag could also explain… this:

This is the rating summary from esrb. Maybe the term “players’ character” was used since Nozomi being the 2nd protag would be a spoiler. (Having a 2nd protag probably adds a whole new layer to my theories but I’ll just refer to Takumi as the sole protag for now)

Day 28 - The 2nd-To-Last Defense Academy Students

Oop, totally forgot to talk about this. So it’s been sorta leaked that Day 28 is when the other students meet up with us.

I’m guessing we meet up during battle where the gang is “saved” by them. Maybe there’s 5 waves and we get to play one person from the 2nd group each wave, introducing us to each new student one at a time? Meeting new characters 20+ days in would be pretty exciting! Again, Nozomi being the leader of this group kinda reminds me of Chiaki being class rep in the anime.

Is Nozomi Karua?

I’m gonna say, not really. My biggest theory is that we’re dealing with an Alternate Parallel Universes thing (Spiderman comes to mind), not a VR sim or amnesia thing or whatever. In all universes, the war is somehow inevitable and the gang is brought to this one universe that keeps the one thing that keeps all universes intact (hidden in the secret room). So Nozomi would be like a parallel version of Karua, who was chosen by Sirei. Maybe there’s some dialogue where Nozomi reveals she had a childhood bestie who died early (like Takumi)? Then without someone to “protect” her, she learned to protect herself and became war-ready. 

About her mom being a researcher, like many people I’m sure this isn’t just a random cool fact. I think both her parents were/are involved in the war and knew about it. Theory: Being a researcher, her mom found a way to avoid hemoanima from “corrupting” her daughter. In turn, Nozomi got sickly and doesn’t have hemoanima-compatible blood. Hence, the blue light things in her transformation instead of a blood tornado? Nozomi’s part in the story is one of the most interesting mysteries so far, and I would love to see her perspective as a protag!

Why did Sirei choose the gang?

Shouma mentioned something very interesting about his entrance exam.

He was too scared to fight so Sirei stabbed him himself to activate the hemoanima. Veeery interesting that the students don't have to stab themselves to activate it, but Sirei encourages them to do so anyway. I think this– plus how Sirei pushes for them to fight before giving more info– plus foreshadowing from Eito who wants to know more about the sitch– all leads to my theory that Sirei wants the students to feel that responsibility. Heard of the phrase, “Once you’ve killed someone, there’s no turning back?” In this case, it would be “Once your blood gets hemoanima-corrupted, there’s no going back to the way you were before.” Stabbing yourself with the hemoanima infuser means taking responsibility for the deaths you’ll cause. Or something. I’m also guessing that Sirei chose characters from very specific universes. Because of the Shouma thing, I’m guessing he already had people in mind to recruit but he also had to choose which one is the “best” version for war. This could make for such an interesting pre-LDA story for each character! The Takumi chosen was the one who was so motivated to protect his friend that he would stab himself. The Hiruko chosen was the one who already had practice fighting the invaders. The Darumi chosen was the one who was so discontent with her life she would pounce at an opportunity to be in a killing game. Perhaps the entrance exam was done on several versions of themselves, though only 1 had succeeded in all universes? Who’re the invaders?

I don’t know about the small weaker invaders, but I’m pretty sure that the enemy commanders are *corrupted* former humans who can no longer communicate properly. The only thing that keeps them alive is their hemoanima-infected blood and a decaying husk of flesh. They probably have little to no human blood left in their system, leaving them power-fueled zombies.

And yes, I think every student has at least one route where they get corrupted at some point (including Takumi!).

I have 2 theories for this very cute Moko and Nozomi CG. One, it happens right after the Day 28 battle where Moko gets seriously injured after helping rescue the 1st group. Two, it happens after she gets corrupted by hemoanima at some route, then gets “decorrupted?” somehow and turns back human. Either way, I’m sure I’m gonna enjoy their scenes together even though I doubt actual yuri will happen. Speaking of…

That Aotsumi/Takueito CG

Sorry but I really doubt there’s gonna be any wholesome cute yaoi (or any good canon LGBT rep) in a game co-written by Kodaka (Idk abt Uchikoshi or the other writers tho). In this route, I do think that both Eito and Takumi have gone through a lot of “bad choice” event branches here. Eito ends up insane while Takumi ends up lifeless. There’s been many theories but here’s my thoughts– If this was Takumi missing a dead Eito where the Eito here is a dream/hallucination, then I don’t think Eito would be shown looking crazy and nude. Usually when it comes to remembering dead well-liked characters, the protag would be thinking of a cute memory or imagining them talking reminiscently beside them. Like that ending scene in the anime with Hajime and Chiaki or ghost Kaede playing Clair de Lune. I also don’t think it’s like a sudden one-sided Eito thing where he forces himself on Takumi since Takumi doesn't seem fazed. Plus he's also naked. I think they’re both messed in the head here. But honestly, I will happily take any queerbait crumbs I can get. (I’m already too far gone in the takueito and nozomoko train)

Might just be the soft takueito truther in me but I also think Eito isn’t gonna be as crazy as people are making him out to be. I think every student will go insane at some point- though I’m sure each one will also have some likable traits— especially since we get to explore more of their backstories and actually see their potential realized, unlike ⅓ of the Danganronpa cast tbh. In the demo, it’s implied that the twins had a rough childhood. Since Ima has the “Special Misconduct” skill while Kako has “Special Good Conduct,” I’m guessing Ima had to do a lot of shady crafty things to support them growing up. He developed a need to protect her innocence because of all the shit he went through as a kid, which led to– lets call it– his “possessiveness” over her. BUT his motivation to keep doing that kinda stuff to keep them afloat is born out of both love and resentment for her. She became his reason to live– and his reason to keep suffering, never putting himself before her safety, always putting himself in front of her. One thing that I hope isn’t true is the very blatant suggestive implications of actual incest happening. Never been a fan of incest plots in Danganronpa. My very optimistic theory (and the one that’s fueling my imacoin investment) is that Ima is blatantly acting overprotective of his sis to not let anyone come anywhere close to harming her. He is self-aware and being very suggestive on purpose so that people are weirded out and don’t try anything. Kinda like acting as if “she’s mine” even though that’s not how he actually feels about Kako. Still weird for Ima but that’s the most non-toxic dynamic I’ve thought of so far. I’ll just say that I’m looking forward to seeing his Ima redemption arc when Kako gets the guts to do her own thing (or when Kako dies). Invest in Imacoin! (or don’t, totally reasonable if you don’t)

Hello, welcome!!! Happy to have you here with us😊 I like answering questions, I hope these clarified some things for you! I hope these aren't too lengthy :)

1. F/O means Fictional Other. It is a mirror of the term Significant Other, but fictional. Our Fictional Significant Others. However, even though there are non-romantic F/Os like familial, platonic, etc., they're still referred to as Fictional Others.

2. I think there is a small difference. I have seen a lot use the words interchangeabley, so I could be wrong for what the current definition of a yumeshipper is, but it originated as a term for girls who selfship typically with anime characters. Yume came from the Japanese word yumejoshi, which means "dreaming girl". And they used yume because. Anime, Japanese, yeah! So in my head yumeshipper is specifically people who selfship with anime characters(I don't find it particular to girls or not), BUT like I said, that word could be taking on a new definition now to be all encompassing, I'm not sure.

Yumeshipper is really mostly a term that is used on Twitter, but I have seen it around here.

A selfshipper is someone who inserts themselves into any media, it is not particular to a certain type of media. Selfshippers sometimes do Self Inserts(which is just them, sometimes with a few extra quirks) to ship with a character, but I've also seen a lot of OC x Canon as well! So to me the difference is just that yumeshipping is specific to anime, while selfshipping is all-encompassing of any media, like movies, cartoons, books, live-action things, etc.

3. Yes!!! I know tons of people that are only non-sharing over particular characters. Whatever your reasoning for it might be it don't matter. Some people are non-sharing over some characters and not other ones. It is common for people when they list out their F/Os to also add if they are non-sharing over that character or not.

4. Anon, you are beyond allowed to selfship with as many characters as you'd like. I have seen people with F/O lists that extend into the 50s or 100s, and I do not mean that as an over-exageration! I have also read those lists cause I get curious who they like. But I mean really, if you click on nearly any blog here on Tumblr there are tons of people who have several F/Os. Anyone that tries to call you greedy for it is just being thick. That's like saying you're greedy for collecting pokemon cards. You're not greedy for investing time in something you enjoy, and in selfshipping you aren't even taking anything away from anyone else, so if anyone calls you greedy then they are severely misconstrued and you probably shouldn't hang around them anyway and be glad that they exposed themselves so you know to probably not interact with then.

I won't lie, lately there's been kinda a little upbringing again of some backlash towards non-sharing selfshippers who have multiple F/Os that they are non-sharing over, but don't worry about it. I have met some lovely people that have assured my own doubts that it's fine. Heck, it's funny you ask me this cause I got quite a bucket list of F/Os myself!

At the end of the day this is something you do for yourself, whether it is or for fun or for coping, so if at any point you can always step back from the social media aspect of it, cause this is between you and your fictional characters.

I read somewhere on your blog that Critters with powers are rare. I know that DogDay, Catnap, and Hoppy have magic but does any one else on the team have magic.

Can you explain how the magic thing works a bit. I’ve read most of your notes on it but I’m still confused on how it works, like type wise. I’ve seen others give their ocs magic and it just confused me more.

And lastly I want to know what your rules for OCs are. More specifically I want to know if there is anything I’m not allowed to uses or step into. Like for example, a relative to one of the main characters, or their rank, or what their relationship with the main cast is (non-family kind).

Yes, Critters with powers are rare, but it is rarer to be a Celestial Critter, which are critters that have powers associated with celestial items like planets, moons, stars, suns, etc etc.

canon critters that have powers are Dogday (power of the sun), Catnap (power of the moon), Hoppy (power of electricity) and Kickin (power of fire), as you can see, the latter two are powers over elements instead of celestial objects.

My oc rules are rather simple! as long as they're not over powered Mary sues with a gazillion powers then i'm fine w/ anything. Some both on tumblr and twitter have done relatives to canon characters, the only thing is that i just dont confirm or deny anything, it's left ambiguous on purpose (its mostly to avoid people finding ways to get free art for their ocs, since some ppl are shameless).

I made a post on Reddit titled "Hot take but I feel like many if not most Stolitz antis are either homophobic or just hypocrites" and I even had to clarify at the end that not all Stolitz antis are like that. Cue the replies harassing me, taking it as a personal attack on them and making baseless accusations about me. One of them even sarcastically said "Anyone who disagrees with me is wrong and bigoted" as a way to make fun of me. I never said anything remotely similar to that. I don't think they bothered to actually read past the title where I explained that Stolas and Blitzø meeting as children is compared to a bad fanfic when that never gets said about straight couples in media who met as children and that people who hate Stolitz for what it is now only tolerated it when it was just a running gag, as if they can't stand it when gay relationships are being taken seriously. I also mentioned that even non-homophobic Stolitz antis complain about how toxic it is and then turn around to ship Blitzker. (Blitzø x Striker)

I had a similar experience. It's so stupid because like, some of them aren't even subtle about it. Same for chaggie antis. I remember seeing a post talking about how much Charlie doesn't get enough dick, so she's unsatisfied and needs Alastor. Like... I'm sorry, what?

Like, it's not that different from female characters who get hate while the same people shitting on her praise fictional men who are worse or do the same shit. There are clear double standards here. These people turn around and praise cishet media with very similar writing, characters and tropes as Helluva Boss. And not only that, but it's not even just about their relationship specifically. Like, I have a theory that the whole controversy about Stolas being an "abusive" father is because of the stereotype that queer people can't be good parents. And the whole "child and parent have conflict but make up in the end" trope happens in fiction all time (example: Danny Tanner, Jeff Morales, Doofenshmirtz, ect.) Weird how it only became abuse and neglect with Stolas and Via.

Some people are blantly saying they wanted stolitz to "stay a joke", and it feels obvious to me that a lot of them just like queer characters who are queer in a goofy "dark humor" way and not an actual character with queer struggles and/or queer relationships.

Natsu does NOT have any previous experience with romantic love

This is the (better) Tumblr version of my post from Twitter. Given the format of this website, I'll add some details to what's already written.

Before starting with this, I want to clarify that the motivation to write this post has little to do with nalu itself (it will be mentioned to highlight a point though). Having previous romantic partners DOESN'T really make any ship invalid. You'll find the actual reason behind this essay under the cut below.

This is about how Natsu, as a character, is never presented or seen by others as someone who has experience with love and such idea is never hinted or implied anywhere in the canon material. This lack of experience explains why Lucy thinks he has no interest in it.

As we will see later, Lucy isn't the only one who thinks like this... Let's get started.

Year 2024. Why writing all this? Some weeks ago I was involved in a discussion about whether Natsu was being OOC during a filler (non canon) scene of the anime where he snaps at Lucy in a way he never does with any of his friends in canon material. The discussion led to this...

I didn't want to assume that this person was taking Lisanna as some kind of first love. At the end it turned out that was exactly what was happening. The proof? The most platonic reunion ever... with Happy reacting the same way as Natsu and comedy being included. It is important to highlight that Mashima never makes two people between whom there have been romantic feelings reunite like this, with comedy references in between that downplays the seriousness of the moment to some extent. While this post is about Natsu and his feelings, I could also mention Lisanna's reaction to this, something that proves that there wasn't even a one sided love: after noticing this Natsu is the same one from her real dimension, she doesn't start crying because of him but because of her siblings.

Let's ignore the part where this dude started calling me and some other users "retards" because that speaks volumes for itself about his lack of real arguments. After all, he has been fighting for at least 4 years with teens over power scaling, a topic he may seem to be knowledgeable about but actually isn't so much, plus he has been banned from at least one Discord server because of his r4pe threats. It seems this individual was so obsessed with that specific thing that he said Zeref did it to Mavis and that's how August was made... That also speaks volumes about his media literacy and the fact that even if it's true that he did read the manga so many times as he claimed during this discussion, he has serious problems with reading as a normal person. When it comes to the topic of this post, the problem is that he has some influence within the fandom, at least on Twitter, so whatever he says is something that many of his followers will start repeating.

What does Mashima do when Lisanna finally comes back to her original home and she gets a proper reunion with everyone?

After the initial shock from seeing Edo Lisanna in Earthland and the big reveal, this is how Natsu reacts.

This isn't a reunion that suggests that Lisanna is special compared to everyone else in the guild, and particulary to those who grew around Natsu. Also, we can't say Mashima just doesn't know how to write such scene properly... because he's written it at least once (in Rave).

The emotion you can feel in this scene, the way ONLY both lovers are on the spotlight and the rest of their friends are in the background until the end... Well, the difference is so obvious that it's ridiculous to say more. Given how well Mashima handles the emotional dimension of his characters in his mangas, the possibility that he didn't know how to depict two lovers who got separated from each for some time due to circumstances beyond their control is off the table.

Also, notice how the end of the Edolas arc depicts this.

The difference with her reunion with Natsu and the others is so obvious that there's no need to say more.

We can also discard Lisanna as a former love interest because there's no akwardness between them once she's back to the guild. They can be seen playing together and briefly interacting from time to time, so it's not like they're avoiding each other.

Is it implied somewhere that they had something beyond friendship? Not in any kind of canon material. Every time Lisanna is mentioned in regards to Natsu she's presented as a close childhood friend. We have, for example, her profile from one of the first chapters where she's back home and the information of the official magazine that was released 10 years ago.

But what if they simply stopped loving each other due to being separated, as a fellow nalu shipper told me on Discord? Making characters fall out of love is something that Mashima also references (see Macao pic a bit below). It also goes against what we saw regarding Erza and Jellal, who still had romantic feelings for each other despite their antagonistic positions for many years, or against the whole Zeref and Mavis thing. In other Mashima mangas we have more couples like this. Elsie and Justice still loved each other despite being sworn enemies, and Let still loved Julia (and vice versa) when he discovered she was alive, a kinda similar scenario to Natsu and Lisanna if they had been lovers. Given that Natsu and Lisanna weren't even enemies to each other at any point and they were only separated for two years, we can't say they had something canonically and they simply got over it with no actual reference to it.

There was a very good moment to reference past feelings in 100YQ: when Touka includes Lisanna in the group of women "around Natsu".

Instead of offering us a comment like "it's not like that anymore", Lisanna just says something that implies they're not that close. After all, Natsu is hanging out with his team most of the time since it was established.

What's the reason this fandom has been so many years discussing about this friendship? Because the first anime adaptation goes beyond that friendship and the manga omake where both of them take care of Happy's egg, something Lisanna decides to help with because she loves animals and she felt Natsu wouldn't do it properly. The first season includes several fillers that pave the way for a love triangle, presenting Lisanna as a girl who is VERY interested in marrying Natsu when they're adults. In addition, Happy is presented as their son, something that totally goes against the source material. Even if Natsu is the one who saw Happy be born and was living with him since then, Happy is never considered as his son and is always called a nakama/companion/friend.

This long thread has everything that A-1 and Satelight added in regards to Natsu and Lisanna. As we can see in the info provided in one of the first tweets, Mashima let them "edit" the story the way they wanted to and it's mentioned explicitely by both him and Ishihara (the director) that Ishihara is responsible for those additions, not Mashima. We also can't say the additions were something Mashima asked for because he couldn't include everything he wanted in his manga for some reason. This is supported by the fact that Lisanna is never presented in the manga as any kind of romantic interest after she comes back.

There's also this tweet from 2012 where Mashima replied to someone asking him whether he was involved in the story of the anime. His answer is no.

It's also important to say that these fillers aren't canon: they're not referenced in the source material (the starry key arc was, even if Mashima wasn't involved in the writing), they're not referenced in the anime itself after Lisanna comes back and they have no impact in the events of the story during and after Edolas.

Currently, thanks to Mashima's Twitter Spaces, we know two things: he revived Lisanna because some people in the anime staff liked her (Ishihara is one of them for sure), which explains why she's not very relevant and is always tied to her siblings, and he once considered to include a love triangle between Natsu, Lucy and Lisanna after Edolas, but he liked Natsu and Lucy's dynamic by then enough to not introduce such storyline. He also said Lisanna was "だめ" in regards to that triangle that never came to be, implying that she would have been the one that doesn't get the boy in that scenario.

So is Lisanna our supposed former love interest? As far as the canon material goes, no. Was she close to Natsu? Yes. Is she dear to him? Yes, just like everyone in his family, the guild, is (I can't believe I'm writing this in fking 2024). Now, what if there was someone else? The assumption that characters may have dated another (unnamed) character offscreen isn't totally crazy. After all we saw how Juvia dated Bora, even if it was a narrative tool to show that not even dates would make Juvia stop being depressed. However, we can't say there was someone else as more than a headcanon unless it's implied or mentioned somewhere explicitely. We know Macao was married but got divorced thanks to the official magazine, for example.

When it comes to Natsu, nothing is ever mentioned.

100YQ, the official FT sequel, has several pannels that go against the whole idea of Natsu being experienced with romantic love. As I mentioned at the beginning, even others from the guild, and especifically Macao in this pannel, who knows Natsu since he was a kid, have a hard time believing he's interested in love.

This part of the story includes a very interesting pannel that also debunks the whole idea that Natsu felt more than frienship for Lisanna before she was transported to Edolas.

Why would Lisanna's brother react like this over such comment if Natsu and his sister had romantic feelings in the past? Easy: because those feelings never existed.

Even Lisanna is a bit surprised when Touka expresses her interest in him.

Previous romantic experience would also mean that Natsu's relationship with Lucy would be more advanced than it is as of now, not to mention this recent scene.

Natsu is still quite dense with romance, even when it doesn't involve him, and while he talks about his and Lucy's kids they still have a long way to go due to his total inexperience in this area as of now. Someone with past love experiences wouldn't be like this. I could say more about this but this isn't the post for it so...

Conclussion: the first season of the anime did a lot of damage that resulted in many years of discussions, fights, misogyny towards both Lucy and Lisanna. Even if we aren't the Team themselves, there are still some things we can do as part of the community. We have already done the biggest one: the call to attention. To inform the community, bringing it to light, that's important. Not all of us are that involved in other socials, so it's best to spread the word for them. Another thing is to inform the rest of the Team, yes they're completely separate things. Now I didn't say "go harass them in their DMs and stuff", let's be respectful and civil here. Just let them know this matters; a hashtag would do. It isn't much, I understand, but it is important.

Now, it's one thing not being aware and it's another choosing to not be aware of it. Seriously, there's people denying it. People who legitimately don't know. All we need is to acknowledge it, it's what matters.

The thing I am trying to do is prevent someone from getting hurt. The rest of the Team had nothing to do with the situation; they're just starting to get aware of it today, and I'm afraid people would start putting the blame on someone who doesn't deserve it. Or, in the worst case scenario, harass them. And I don't mean just the Team, it could also be toward others in the community. It doesn't really happen here, just in other socials people can really be ruthless. I'll mention more in my actual report, but apparently, there has been some misinformation being thrown around over on Twitter, and the least I want is for it to affect our Tumblr community. It has unfortunately become a cycle 😔

That being said, there is nothing wrong with anyone trying to take their mind off the situation. Honestly, for your mental health's sake, go for it. Yall could really use it. I, on the other hand, can't. Like I said before, it's not within me.

For one, instead of help me, my mind simply wouldn't be able to focus on this distraction. The other, I've made a commitment to inform the community, I promised. For those who have known me the longest, you might remember the time I was going undercover for an investigation, meeting the "FG creator". It wasn't easy having to put on a facade for my safety, having to resort to my coded posts to tell anyone of my well-being. There were so many times I could've crumbled under the pressure but it was who I am that brought me to the very end of those excruciating 3 months. It's not within me to leave things like this, not until I've done my part.

I can only hope my reasoning behind this and the other post makes sense.

Just to clarify - we reblog Hooked Wayfinder related posts that we find from tags such as Hooked Wayfinder, Moaui, Moana and more... We ran a poll the other day to ask if we should also post more non-Hooked Wayfinder content and the majority agreed that non-shippy content was ok too! We will still strive to keep the majority of the content related to Moana and Maui, but you might see a Tamatoa or Matangi here every now and then - though it probably has to be a really awesome post about them then.

Personally I'm also a sucker for concept art, development, meta and behind-the-scenes pictures and you might have already noticed we have been reblogging a bit more of that too.

We don't like art theft and would like to encourage people to give proper credit when taking edits or arts from other people - there are some people that are really good at this, crediting others and linking back to where they found specific arts. (Awesome fanartists like RyukiGaryu on Twitter have no presence on Tumblr, but luckily some of their arts are being put on Tumblr with proper links to the original post - so that there's no misunderstanding about who the artist is and you can easily click through to check them out online.)

Should it be possible to post their artist name and the title/description of the piece (if there is one) underneath the art, that would be perfect! (However, as Loto says: perfection's a myth!)

If there's no link back to the original artist and no name visible, we will usually not reblog the post. So, just as a reminder: proper credit is really important to us - if you need an example:

The post I screenshotted above had a link to the instagram of Jason Hand - so there was no doubt who the artist was or where the art came from.

While nobody's saying you can't use your tumblr as a pinterest board where you upload works of others (without credit!), it's not really what Tumblr is used for and it's sort of frowned upon in fandoms. (Which is also why pinterest has such a bad reputation among most fandoms) It's not something we want to encourage either, even if we appreciate your love and appreciation for the ship. If you want something on your blog, we recommend you reblog it. If you do want to make a collage or mood board, give credit to the people whose arts and edits you use, or better yet - use unedited screencaps or promo materials from Disney itself. Feel free to save whatever you want on your pc for private use, but refrain from reposting it.

We're not trying to be Tumblr police here (though it's likely it appears that way), but also just want you to know that if you have questions about how to post specific things to your blog, we'll gladly help out. We want to be able to reblog your posts, but we do not want to do that if your post consist of other stolen images. It gets messy.

Some people (including myself) are Eddy apologists for this exact reason too- they can understand why he acts as he acts, where do come from his anger and insatisfaction with his life, and how he often gets a pretty unfair treatmente in some episodes (To Sir with Ed, Sorry Wrong Ed, X Marks the Ed, Who let The Ed In, The Good, The Bad and The Ed). On other side other characters (the kids) act just as bad as him and (almost) always come go unpunished. There several years ago Eddy got lots of hate, he was demonished and treated like a real monster and a sociopath by the fandom, devoid of any redeeming qualities. People who feel sympathy for him for his background and some of these episodes began to come to his defende and shows how he is a great character with a lot of good moments and a heart deep down.

Edd, on other side, always had the ''elite treament'', he was a angel, a perfect princess, who can do anything wrong in certain fans's eyes. Not to mention he pretty much overshadowed every other character on fanfics and fan arts, was everything about him. Another fans (usually Eddy fans) naturally got sick of this and started to push his flaws, the moments were he acted like a jerk, and how he's not above anyone on the show. And how not all his actions are (indeed) justifyable. Summing up, people were just sick of seeing Eddy being treated like a psychotic monster and Edd as the Jesus Christ figure.

First of all, thanks for politely telling me all this! I wasn't really aware of all this because I only joined the fandom 5 months ago. And I totally get this, that's why I made the post. I saw some posts of people talking about those people who think Double D is an innocent little angel and I started to wonder if people think that about me, if I ever sounded like that, and I started to worry that someday I would sound like that in one of my future texts and videos talking about him. I hadn't thought about it when I made the post, but I hope it didn't come off as rude or an "attack" (???), I was just afraid that people would mistake me for one of those annoying people and just wanted to clarify that I'm not, because I really like this fandom and I don't want people to think that I'm annoying or that I make superficial analyses of the characters (because I personally think that oversimplifying Double D as good and Eddy as bad is something people do when they watch the show very superficially). I tend to be that type of person who feels the need to always clarify and justify myself for fear of others hating me, and also, I'm a little traumatized by Twitter where people tend to be very aggressive and mean to you for everything and assume things about you and not explain things to you etc etc... so I was a little anxious after making my post, afraid something like this might happen, but from everything I'm seeing, people on Tumblr seem so nice and kind in general. So I want to thank you again for being so kind and actually explaining the whole thing to me :)

Eddy is a character who's very easy to be wronged and misunderstood because he has great depth, several layers, insecurities and traumas that he covers with his false confidence and "jerky" attitude that he tries to copy from his brother. Obviously not justifying people treating him like a monster, just explaining that unfortunately we live in a world full of superficial people who aren't concerned with paying attention to details and stopping to really interpret and analyze things carefully and attentively, and understand that people are complex, characters are complex, and Eddy is a highly complex character. To these people, it ends up being more comfortable and convenient to just be content and cling to the character who, if seen superficially, is the "perfect little angel" who "suffers at the hands" of the "evil Eddy". I love analyzing and reflecting on things deeply, and it really irritates and frustrates me that people don't make the effort to do the same, and that happens in real life too. People quickly judge and have difficulty understanding that people are not simple and have different reasons for acting the way they do. I know it's hard to deal with people who act like jerks, I have a hard time myself, but I just wish there was a little more empathy in the world. That's one of the things Big Picture Show teaches us, right? Don't judge people because sometimes the jerk person is actually a very broken, insecure and frustrated person who just wants and needs to feel loved and accepted and doesn't really understand that. I think it's so important to learn this because it's true, sometimes people act mean not because they're actually mean, but because of so many other reasons that they themselves don't comprehend or don't want to show, and the "mean" disguise is just the way they found to defend themselves and survive.

I think (at least I hope?) it's noticeable in some of my posts that I also love Eddy (as a Double D kinnie I think it makes sense to be in love with him xD just an EddEddy joke to lighten up, but honestly I think people like Eddy are my type), I love analyzing and reading other people's analyses of his character and story, but my sympathy for him just grew in the last 5 months in fact, when I became hyperfixated on EEnE much more intensely than before and finally started to get to know about the whole story and characters. I even made a post once talking about thinking that he was my least favorite Ed, because before he actually was, but after rewatching the entire show now as an adult (the last time I watched I was a kid who didn't even understand a lot of the things that happened) and starting to analyze and read about it, now I'm very obsessed with him, I think his character is so interesting and deep, that he has the most interesting backstory and the best character development, and I even make more edits with him than with Double D (I think I tend to be obsessed with controversial and complex characters who are full of content to analyze from a psychological point of view like Eddy. A good example is Jinx from Arcane, I just love her character so much). I also recently realized that he's a lot like my brother, no wonder our mother often misunderstands him. But I get it, they (Eddy and my brother) are just people who are very hard to deal with because they carry several issues that you need to have good maturity and emotional structure to deal with, but it's so good when you can get to know a little more about them and help them get through these things when they open up and allow themselves to be discovered and helped.

Today I came across a post (which was honestly the trigger that made me make my post) from @eddfumo saying that they think Double D wants to be like Eddy in some way, and you know what? This is so true! I'll use my own experience to relate to him and explain him again, but anyway, I'm so envious of people/characters like Eddy. Even though they tend to irritate me and I even disapprove of many of their actions and decisions, they also have this determination, confidence (even if it's false, they're still able to act like confident people), attitude, audacity, strong personality, rebelliousness, extroversion and "not giving a shit" energy that I so wish I had too. I really admire these traits and I think Double D deep down does too (I like to headcanon him doing the same as I do and secretly fantasizing imaginary and hypothetical situations and discussions in which he acts more like Eddy, and he feels so good about himself afterwards, but feels frustrated that he doesn't have the nerve to do this outside of his imagination in real-life situations). Even though they have questionable morals, this type of person is so inspiring and you can still learn so much from them. It's no wonder Double D grows so much and becomes a more confident and less people-pleasing person because of Eddy's influence.

So yeah, it sucks when people simplify characters and see them as black and white, good and bad. The EEnE fandom is unfortunately not very big, but luckily here on Tumblr, at least currently, it's full of people who do in-depth analyses and that makes me very happy!

EDIT (I'm editing to add one more thing because I forgot to mention another topic that complements what you said about the other kids acting badly too and not receiving any punishment): One of the many things I plan to do after rewatching the show a few more times to properly absorb everything (I need to rewatch things at least twice to really take it all. Plus, I rewatched it the first time with the Brazilian dub because nostalgia and now I want to rewatch it with the original lines) is count how many times the Eds do real scams. Because honestly, there are a lot of episodes where we can't really call what they're doing "scams" because they're not actually scamming anyone, they're just selling something honestly and without harming anyone, but things always go wrong even when they're not doing anything wrong (often because of the Kankers, for example) and this is frustrating as hell to Eddy.

Since I haven't rewatched everything twice yet (because I'm still in the process of subtitling the entire remastered version of the show to rewatch it properly because English isn't my first language), I don't remember all the episodes accurately and clearly. But the last one I subtitled was "In Like Ed" (season 2, episode 9), so it's the example I have freshest in mind, even if it's not the best one. I know, the Eds were inconvenient in this episode crashing Jimmy's party (even though I think it's so lame that they rarely get invited to anything because the kids exclude them), opening his presents and everything, but one thing that stuck in my mind was the fact that when Eddy opened the present in front of them and revealed the sewing machine, Jimmy just said: "I'm so misunderstood. I wanted a pony!". He didn't say anything about them ruining the surprise or anything, he just started crying and ran away because he didn't get a goddamn pony. He just complained about someone's present, despised the present right in front of the person, and all Kevin said was "There goes the birthday boy. You dorks wrecked another party!". Like?? Jimmy cried because he didn't get the present he wanted, and not because of the Eds. I could even consider the possibility of them giving him "preferential treatment" and ignoring him because he's younger, but there are times when Kevin doesn't give a shit about Jimmy being younger, like in "Know it All Ed" (season 2, episode 1) when he uses the squirt gun on him, mock him and call him "twerp". Anyway, regardless of being younger, he was so rude and no one gave a shit, and not only that but they even acted as if it was the Eds' fault that Jimmy cried and ran away.

So yeah! The kids (especially Kevin) always blame the Eds (especially Eddy) for everything that goes wrong, even when it's not really their fault. And as you said, they also act badly, but nothing happens to them.

To clarify about SunnyDayJack Art

Early Reminder: This is not hate or anything related, this is only about me and information I had heard on the subject.

So, I have been asked a couple times in messages if I will be making any more Sunny Day Jack art, and unfortunately, no not for right now. I don't have the full context of what all went down since I'm not on twitter anymore, but to be honest even though I had a lot of ideas I wanted to draw out, it is best that I don't continue especially while the art was still fresh.

There will be more Pressure and Poppy Playtime coming out soon and some original animation, but no SunnyDayJack art coming from me. Here's why:

This is everything I have heard of what went down:

Snaccpop started falling apart because of lack of updates and the team having many disagreements and business issues. Jambeebot with everything going down was having depression, and honestly I understand why, and is in a way retiring and getting off the internet which I understand completely and hope they get better over time.

Since then, the fandom has been divided about the whole situation, those still in support of SunnyDayJack only, and those who have completely cut themselves off from it. Me personally as much as I'd love to still explore the ideas I had in mind, I don't want the trouble.

The demo was early beta for $12 dollars on their Patreon, in my mind I'm trying to understand why that would be the case since it's a demo and demo's should be free for the public or better yet they should have paid people instead, If the people were testing it early on, but not for the demo only for the main game. Now if it had to do with Jambeebot putting in as much work as they did for it, I can understand on that level, though I do feel that $12 is a bit much for the demo.

Then the release date for the demo is to this day still prolonged and there are no real updates on what's going on or why they won't release it. (Wanted to let you all know, someone on TikTok, I didn't catch their name, has been posting screenshots and edits of the new demo with new characters and spoiling it just a bit. I didn't take a screenshot because I didn't like their post and forgot to take one. I feel as though there will be more spoilers coming out before we actually see the demo.)

I'm sorry if that is the reason you followed me, so I wanted to clarify.

So, since I won't be drawing anything from SunnyDayJack, here was my idea for what I was going for:

I liked the whole mystery on what happened to Joseph and was going to go into that direction with it, and as I've said before I'm not a NSFW artist and don't ever plan to be, so there wasn't going to be any of that involved in the story, just mainly mystery and connections built. I'm also not a huge Yandere fan personally, as to why I didn't have an interest in other Yandere games, it was only mainly for the Lore of the game. If things get better for it, I'll consider going back to that Idea again if Jambeebot ever returns as well, but until then any drawings of Sunny Day Jack will be private or just not posted. Another thing is if I did ever draw it again, because it is a 18+ game, it won't be published on platforms where younger audiences could reach it easily, even though it will be completely SFW 100%. Meaning it would be on Blusky or here on Tumblr. The art I have posted was only early concepts, since then I'm trying to get better at anatomy and character design, so my OC you saw is getting a complete makeover.

I know this probably wasn't what some of you wanted to hear and I'm sorry for the news, I am as disappointed as much as you. But don't worry, there will still be more content just in different subjects, keep on moving forward! And this isn't a forever decision, but it will be a long time decision until things settle. Plus I don't always stay within one fandom, I go all over the place unless I really am invested. :D

i saw a tweet earlier today regarding barbie and oppenheimer and I realized how I haven't seen a lot of people talking about the potential anti-asian racism and whitewashing in the oppenheimer movie considering that it's a biopic set during world war 2 (tbf, I haven't gone through the oppenheimer tags on tumblr and twitter). I just know that those parts are gonna be overlooked due to being a Christopher Nolan movie

So I haven't talked about the inherent racism of making a tragic hero out of Oppenheimer on here but I want to clarify I'm not Asian and I'm not Japanese and I would like those voices prioritized here.

If you don't know much about Christopher Nolan besides yay batman movies... you gotta know a few things about him. Even in his batman trilogy he whitewashed nonwhite characters. Notably Ras Al Ghul, Talia Al Ghul and Bane. i'm not going to delve into how his movies besides tenet predominantly featured white casts. but just take that as a fact. Tenet was an exception not the general rule of his filmography.

But you gotta understand that these numbers are wrong for the plain and simple fact that Japanese people around Hiroshima and Nagasaki also were affected with radiation and like chernobyl some died quick deaths and others died slow deaths. So you can't really put a number to that sort of devastation.

There's this narrative in the USA that in WWII we did everything possible to stop the nazis. But instead of focusing on the devastation of the bombings we're focusing on a tragic white man who from the beginning understood what this bomb would do??? Like yes he was haunted there's even this

So like we have this narrative of a tragic antihero that saved us from war with the axis but then was haunted by what it had cost him. And what I can't understand is why we revere him so much. This is as much a movie about USAmerican ingenuity as it is about how poor widdle Oppenheimer created the most powerful weapons in history and was haunted by it.

I haven't seen it but its very telling that Nolan didn't choose to depict the horror of the bombings and instead the single tragic man that choose to create them.

honestly its sickening. because now Cillian is gonna get nominated for his role as Oppenheimer, they're going to shove it down our throats that old USAmerican propaganda that we needed to bomb the Japanese to stop the war even tho nazis were defeated already. the Japanese were still fighting but we had them out manned and out gunned.
