Willington Palace Gardens | Sage, SimDonia
Diana sighs contently
Diana to herself: I hope you love this place as much as I do little one. There's no better place to be alone with your thoughts.... hopefully you'll get more use out of it than I do lately.
Footsteps approaching and voices outside
Gaurd: Your Majesty, a Dr. Fitzgerald is requesting an urgent meeting with you.
Diana: Really? Please send her in.
Dr. Fitz: Your Majesty, I do apologize for the intrustion. I asked a member of your staff where to find you and they directed me here.
Diana: Doctor, is everything alright? It's unusually chilly out today. I'm sorry you had to venture out to find me.
Dr. Fitz: Not a problem at all, ma'am. I have some great news that I couldn't wait for our next appointment to share with you.
Diana: Really? Did you- Did you find a cure?
Dr. Fitz: Sort of. I think we're very close to finding a noninvasive treatment plan that will block all the symptons related to this defect. It's a short term fix, but the longer cure is still on our rader. But, I thought this is something you'd want us to explore, as well.
Diana: Absolutely! That's amazing! What do you need from me?
Dr. Fitz: Well, we still need to do some testing to see if the treatments are successful. It will need to be on each member of the family we found with the defect. Seeing the responses from this will help not only create a plan to block the symptoms, but hopefully fully cure them, as well.
Diana: This is music to my ears. When can we start?
Dr. Fitz: We can start right away if you like. Our team is about ready.
Diana: Fantastic. I say, we go ahead, then. Great work, Doctor.
Dr. Fitz: Of course, ma'am. I will, of course, need your go ahead on informing the patients of the ongoing treatment.
Diana: What do you mean?
Dr. Fitz: Legally, ma'am, our team cannot administer treatment without consent from the patient.
Diana: I see.
Dr. Fitz: I'm sorry, ma'am. I know discretion about this matter has been of the upmost importance to you.
Diana sighs: No, don't be sorry. I imagine it's time I come clean about this. I was just... hoping I had more time.
Dr. Fitz: I understand. Should we postpone the treatment?
Diana: Yes, I need to inform everyone myself. Then, we will move forward.
Dr. Fitz: Understood, ma'am.

Hey, time to overanalyze magic again. It makes sense to me -- follow closely now -- that earthbending would just be the control of rocks. It's all the minerals that come from the ground, and sure, even some artificially created ones as long as they have the same structure. But just rocks. Not dirt.
Why not, you ask? I invite you to consider what dirt actually is. It's lots of things! Some rock dust, yes, but also crumbled plants, and decomposed animals, and a variety of fungus, and bits of poop from creatures both microscopic and large. Basically, it's a mess of all things organic (plus tiny rocks).
You don't want an earthbender for dirt.
You want a necromancer.
#this throws so many elemental magic systems into chaos#can you imagine some character discovering this in-story?#did everyone just assume that the ability to move the dirt under your feet didn't go any farther than that#and no one ever thought to test it?#maybe it's super rare#and there's a lot of propaganda#either way I'm picturing someone scooping up a bunch of soil for whatever reason#and getting a dead bird or something with it#and no#that wasn't just swept up with the dirt they were controlling#the character stares at it. moves the feathers one by one without touching them#then has to make a Decision#about what to do with this knowledge#anyway somebody should write about this kind of thing#it's fascinating#writing prompts#magic#rules-lawyering the magic#earthbending#worldbuilding#I've mentioned before that you need a necromancer to fix rotten wood#this would fit in that same vein#it's control of dead things#and all that that entails

Modern crystal healing: It opens your ~chakras~ you will attract ~abundance~ you will ~connect with the universe~
Medieval crystal healing: This shit makes you invisible, stops your periods from hurting, and makes your husband love you.
#chatter#Yes those are all taken from real medieval descriptions of crystals.#I can't remember the last one but the first two are topaz and carnelian.#I prefer older crystal healing sources I will not lie.#Its the fact that they're less vague and more confident about their assumptions.#I have read modern (70s) crystal healing books and they are INCOMPREHENSIBLE.#The thing about these books from the 70s is that if you follow the citation chain of modern books they all lead back to them.#I don't know how you could get any useful information from Healing “diamonds are so strong they cause cancer” Stoned.#Want medieval rock information?#Hildegarde von Bingen's Physica and Albert the Great's De Mineralibus.#English translations: Priscilla Throop and Dorothy Wyckoff respectively because I've read those.#Physica includes a lot more than crystals and Throop's translation is easy to read so I recommend it in general.#Wyckoff's De Mineralibus contains a lot of interesting footnotes that explain what Albert could've been referring to.#Because shockingly in a society without ways to definitively test minerals sometimes every green rock is an emerald.#Bonus: Want some Roman crystal knowledge? Pliny the Elder's Natural History volume 11.#||#witch#witchblr#witch memes#witchcraft#crystal witch#crystals#witch meme

Originally i wasn't gonna post this, n was just gonna keep it to myself but it's insane to me how much fandoms or just people in general cannot seem to fathom anything outside of what they know. They've placed themselves into a box of what they know, what makes them comfortable and what's understandable to them. Anything past that is met with hatred and dislike for xyz. You can't have a morally grey character [ESP FEMALE.] Without accusations of abuse of any of fucking being terrorist [Looks at what people say about Mia Winters.] Fiction is not supposed to always be made for YOU. It's made for anyone, they're not nor SHOULDN'T be limited to yourself. This idea that things cannot be bad or gruesome without backlash destroys so much of what sm media is built on... If a ship between 2 characters can be seen as horrible and disgusting when theres no actual evidence of it being that way yet theres still a push when in all actuality you are allowed to write shitty relationships, its okay to write about the relationships that arent squeaky clean!!!! This idea that if you ship it, it immediately means you support it, has gone so far, when i talk about 4525 [David x Simon] or hell Woods x Hackett. Its not to bring this idea that i want real relationships to fucking be like this, its just an interesting viewing of 2 people trying to make something work. They're fictional characters. They are not real. They're little dolls you play around with, to push n do whatever with. A limit of which is okay and isn't should be there, but we've crossed it so much that, the line isn't even there anymore. Like any difficult subject you handle it with care but it doesn't automatically mean you cant ever talk about it or want to talk about it! Just like how real life is not pure, not all media will be pure and that's FINE. You should talk about villainous characters and their complexity and not be harassed for just liking them. <3333
#idk rambles 💟#like idk yall doing to fucking much for a piece of media that you could just enjoy and fuck off#sm of shit im into im tired of seeing the most rancid takes from people who can't even rub 3 braincells together without being misoynist#media is not going to be comfortable for you#and it shouldn't be for every single person#because people are different and have different limits and find different things weird or uncomfy#consumption of media as of now is fucking attrocious#what happened to just..shipping 2 characters for fun and having fun fan theories that people made aus of#now yall wanna have a 5 hour debate as to why you can't like a character from fucking gension impact#yes theres shitty media with shitty representation#not everything is gonna be great#nothing is#but holy shit fucking get a grip#if someone wants to ship 2 adult cookies who gaf#im goin all around the world with these fandoms#idgaf yall fuckers annoy me#consume media with knowledge#consume with different lenses then what YOU know#there's nothing wrong with sitting back with whats comfortable#but dont stick to it forever without testing the waters#text post#fandoms#let’s discuss#screams into the void

oh no!! Suicidal baby no!! Interrogator you broke him :((
Ok but for real ~the whumpflies~, mmh yes :) destroy that man, break him down, do worse.
""buddy"" who does this guy think he is
as much as he's able to take, Sahota has never been in a situation where his captors had the ability to brutalize him to the point that it would kill him. In most cases, they wanted to keep him intact for questioning, and he'd always escape before things went too far.
Here, he never knows what level of pain to expect or when to expect it, since he only finds out right before it happens. He doesn't have any interaction with the interrogator beyond the methods themselves. And he has nothing to do between sessions. Even when he was still getting used to life with Vic, Sahota had access to books, and used reading to cope (which he still does in the present arc). Here, he can only dread what comes next.
#without the super scifi healing he would've died by now#even if the razorwire wasn't one of the methods used#the rest of them back-to-back would have him in pretty rough shape#anon#t$$ test track au#he has no idea how long he'll be there either#how many methods are between him and going home#i wouldn't say he's any more broken than he already was at the start#or that he's actively trying to die#but the realization that he doesn't know ANYTHING about what he has left to endure#and the knowledge that no matter how bad it is he'll just be healed and sent to the next torture#is setting in and making him heavily stressed#tw sui mention

fortunately, shortly after that interview, I interviewed with another company and they asked me normal questions about how I handle conflicts in the workplace and were so impressed with my answer that they hired me ten minutes later
#without doing any kind of knowledge test or ANYTHING#for all they knew I was lying about having ever seen a computer before#*’’shortly’’ here meaning ‘’several months and one entire hiring process later’’

i swear this website is slowly turning me into an ai defender against my will. like guys. you know the problem is with the companies laying off workers and using ai to do their jobs and not with the technology itself. and the solution to the problems created by new ai technology is to put legal protections for workers in place and to give people the technological literacy to know not to use generative ai text as a source for information. right. right?? even complaints about students using it to cheat on essays feel a bit overexaggerated to me. kids have been finding new and creative ways to cheat on homework since the beginning of time and this is frankly doing nothing but making it a bit easier. and honestly maybe i’m underestimating the quality of newer ai technology but i think if a kid can get away with using chat gpt to write their essays and walk away with a good grade then maybe their teacher is not actually examining the contents of their work all that carefully. anyway this is simply me getting increasingly irked at the amount of posts about ai i see on here that seem to boil down to “new unfamiliar tech thing bad.” plus a lot of posts dunking on ai art that i’ve seen seem to be very concerned with keeping a clear and easily definable definition of what “art” is in a way that rings some alarm bells for me.
#i will also say although it’s a bit off topic to the post#that i fundamentally don’t really have an ethical problem with violating academic integrity at a high school level or below#once you get to a college level plagiarism and cheating on exams and shit can get real serious real fast#but like. i think when kids are forced to go to school (NOT that i think requiring kids to be educated is a bad thing)#and have an insane amount of pressure put on them to get good grades in classes that they’re NOT gonna remember a few years from now#often under the threat of some pretty hardcore punishment from both their school and their parents#then yeah i don’t think sneaking notes into a test or whatever is a moral failure#and this view is certainly influenced by my own experience of my grades almost never reflecting my actual knowledge or effort (adhd haver)#like i fundamentally don’t think you can violate the integrity of a system that isn’t set up in a fair or honest way to begin with#although i do still think it’s fucked up to take credit for someone else’s work without their consent no matter what

The Artemis Fowl series isn’t actually about a boy learning how to make friends and save the world with the help of fairies, it’s actually about a boy learning to become a fully-fledged necromancer.
#Artemis fowl#Book 1 he learns fairy healings can pull someone back from the brink of death#When Holly saves Butler after the troll fight#Then book 3 tests the limits of revival using magic and even “long term” death can be fixed#As long as there is a body present#And bodies can be made easily according to book 4#But by Book 5 Artemis learns he can steal magic and transfer it around even without a physical form#Book 6 shows more of the same as well as immortality apparently being in reach if Opal is close to achieving it#And then book 8 has Artemis learning about time spells and maintaining the spirit#So he combines all his knowledge and uses magic to suspend his own life force and use a new body to house his soul = necromancy#he probably adds like...“NEC” onto his business cards#and most people don't notice it in the deluge of other acronyms and initials and whatnot but those that DO think it's just a weird flex#to specifically point out that you have certificates and honors that are Not Elsewhere Classified#anyways vampire artemis is all well and good but let's see some absolutely unhinged grave robbing behaviour#eventually butler dies and his will and standing orders are very clear that the DNR clause stands for both#'do not resuscitate' AND 'do not resurrect - yes artemis this means you and no i don't care about your reasons'

dark spore kids
#my art#noriko kawada#ken ichijouji#punimon#Im not gonna tag the other dark spore kids and their digimon because the seocnd one isj ust goofy.#ive had these sitting around for a while. i haev more other digimon 02 drawings ill post later i didnt want to put them in the same one with#this becuase the poses came out really similar without me thinkingabout it LOL.#ive just bee ndrawing a bunch of shit like this trying to get through a rough couple weeks. hopefully i can draw more soon!!#a little embarrassing to have only digimon art to show for myself right now but im having fun and making the things i want to see and i gues#thats whats important to me so. o7. bear with me until my heart eventually settles into a calm about it and i can draw other things again#i may have talked about it before but the dark spore really is a very compelling story element to me. so naturally i really wished that the#kids who got it implanted got to be characters more than they did. one of my favorite lines in the entire show come sfrom noriko . soim very#sad that theres not much art of her. thats why i drew her#i also just thought the idea of ken running a dbt skills group therapy session was really funny. hes canonically a psych student as of#02 the beginning im told. tough crowd to be testing your knowledge on....#anyway enjoy!! im outta here until i draw something else i guess

truly a blessing that im not home right now or i don't what i'd do to my roommate. fucking audacity
#long story short results from the final test from water constructiona got posted#she got the 9th highest score out of all 150 people#i barely passed having 2 points over the limit and our 3rd friend was short on 3 points so she will have to retake#mind you that last girl was the one who actually put the most work into this out of us three#she actually thoroughly prepared me while i read the presentations twice and my roommate didn't do anything at all#roommate got a cheat sheet minutes before the test from some rando and just copied the answers that were there#and now is boasting how she got one of the top scores without wasting any time#got lucky okay that's life#but then on the general uni group chat one guy asked about when's the 2nd try for the test#and i response to which my roommate on our private group started a whole ass monologue#that how in the worst HE didn't pass this. he was always getting top scores from all the subject. he got a 5.0 from hydrology#well shut the fuck up he's just some guy who's a student like anyone else#it's not set in stone that he'll always have top scores because it's just fucking hard anyway can do worse sometimes even top students#maybe he was tired maybe he didn't have time to study maybe he didn't have any cheat sheets and just tried to rely on his knowledge#anything can happen and he can get any grade just like anyone can#very few things piss me off as much as people saying stuff like her#i got so heated up over this that my head started to hurt#i hate it here#this is what makes me always so damn anxious before any test#because if i fail everyone always starts asking what happened and how ME out of all people didn't pass#so now when dhe started saying this about that guy it just hit to close to home i guess#i need to go on a walk to cool down

you ever think about like. all the formal linguistics experiments that dont happen because we have ethics.
#leologisms#GOOD. GOOD. its good that linguists have never done linguistic deprivation experiments on children to test the innateness of language.#its GOOD that linguists have to respect peoples privacy and cant go around recording people without their knowledge.
