hellooo :3 i've been thinking about outlander interactions and i was wondering how you think kiburi and shupavu might interact?
also you should def include the skinks if you do another outlander interactions post :D
Hey Spinny, good question!!!!
I think Kiburi and Shupavu would definitely get along, knowing my headcanons that Kiburi and Njano are buddies and Shupavu is mentoring the croc leader’s daughter. Not to mention they’re both leaders who have been treated unfairly in their eyes so they’d definitely bond over a lot of things. Plus, at least Kiburi’s respectful towards skinks, unlike SOMEBODY (*cough*Janja*cough*)
Oh oh oh! I can also see them talking about teaming up more often since in Kiburi’s words “my float seems to like your skinks”. They’d even talk about Kenge in the sense he’s considered a friend in both groups (no Kenge’s not smiling-)
Not to mention, they both care immensely about their respective groups so they totally understand each other
Reptiles respecting reptiles, we love to see it
#croc/skink friendships my beloved#maybe i’ll do an interaction post with JUST the skinks cuz i need to touch upon the group dynamic more#thanks for the ask!#tlg outlanders#the lion guard

TLG: Final 10 Episodes Sketch Dump
September 2nd once again fell on a Labor Day, like it once did when the final 10 episodes of TLG dropped on WatchTLG (due to its early release on the old DisneyNOW app). The alignment of the exact day, month, and holiday five years later put me in the spirit to sketch away as I rewatched these episodes.
I was there when the countdown on the WatchTLG site had about an hour left. I hadn't seen a full episode of TLG until that point because I at the time thought I wouldn't be into it. I saw the synopses for these episodes leaked somewhere online and was doubtful yet VERY hopeful that the one with Vitani's Lion Guard was going to be a real episode simply because I wanted to see her in new content, regardless of my familiarity with the show.
When I binge-watched these final episodes with a friend, my relationship with the show improved as I went to watch the rest of the show over the next few months. I was so grateful to see so much content and worldbuilding for the TLK universe
Sketch descriptions under the cut:
1. Friends to the End
I've said this before in a review of this episode, but whether or not the writers intended this, their portrayal of irritability brought on by an anxiety attack is astounding. Kion's anxiety is piled up more and more when he's in a hurry to find a cure at the Tree of Life, Bunga repeatedly tells him he's becoming like Scar, and the rest of the group just "blind leading the blind"-in their journey SO badly because they're a bunch of unsupervised freshman-aged kids who are in their "Well I wouldn't go THAT far" or "Can I be the devil's advocate" phase.
This situation of fearing becoming like a shitty family member and being told you are by people when you're already in a vulnerable state is just SO vile and unfortunately so real. I found myself relating hard to this episode due to Kion's valid af anger in this episode, which is why I had to draw Kion claiming his "Don't you just wanna go apeshit??" era.
Kion is basically me throughout this episode and the entire first half of Season 3. It is SO HARD to get through this season sometimes when these same couple of lines keep coming at least once per episode. As soon as I hear Fuli saying "Uhh... Kion?" or "KION!!" I know exactly what's coming.
2. The Tree of Life:
Since we never get to see Sahasi and Ananda's color palettes they had in life, I took what I could make out from their spirit forms as well as some creative liberties, and came up with what they may have looked like on Earth.
Ananda is where Baliyo gets his freckles and dull, dark pelt, and where Rani gets her purple pupils, red nose, and dark tail. Sahasi is where Rani gets her richer pelt and where Baliyo gets his nose gradient, multicolored mane, and lighter tail color.
Fun Fact: According to some email responses from a member of the team who worked on TLG, they said that Sahasi was meant to be Janna's son, which for me, puts an end to a debate I had in my head where I was stuck between either him or Ananda being Janna's child: On one hand, I liked the idea of Sahasi and Surak being the foils of Mufasa and Scar, but also liked the idea of Ananda as Janna's daughter and heir since they looked so alike, as well as it solidifying the martriarchy headcanon I have for the Night Pride. Though the team member didn't straight-up provide Sahasi's relation to Janna and Surak as an absolute fact, rather it was simply the gist they got from the creation of Sahasi's character, it's an answer from a team member at all, which I can absolutely settle with. I decided to give him a similar fur color to Surak because of that.
3. The River of Patience:
I just HAD to doodle eepy Kion. It's like the one part of this episode that sticks with me outside the wholesome therapy dynamics and Kion heroically holding the flower between his teeth. This is basically him but if he fully succumbed to falling asleep waiting for the log.
4. Little Old Ginterbong:
Can I just say that I fucking LOVE Mama Binturong's character?? She's absolutely insane and constantly looks like an addict that needs her fix. She makes me nostalgic for some reason, and I think it's gotta do with her Mama Gunda vibes (which is odd because I wasn't even that young when I saw Tarzan II). I had to draw her doing the thing lol
5. Poa the Destroyer:
All I could think about throughout this episode besides the rare Evil Beshte is how insufferable Pinguino is. I mean it in kind of a good way, his personality is so ridiculous that he's made me laugh a few times.
6. Long Live the Queen:
Surprisingly, the sketch regarding this episode is probably the least expected subject matter out of anything I could've put here: An idea that's been forming in my head for a bit now was the idea of Bunga and Binga continuing the fostering/babysitting business of Bunga's "uncles". Bunga is shown to be a natural with young animals in a few episodes, and it continues in the subplot of this episode where he watches over Varya's cubs.
7. The Lake of Reflection:
The one thing that viscerally stuck with me in this episode was the unbelievably cute design they gave bby Cheezi. Had to sketch him.
8. Triumph of the Roar:
Obligatory Askari sketch because I actually love drawing him and making headcanons of his era. Looking back... he kinda looks like he's looking down at the events of the bottom drawing in slight disappointment.
9. Journey to the Pride Lands:
Drew Azaad (for what I think might be the first time) with the only thing he seemed to be doing throughout this episode -- taking any opportunity he can to comment about how much better cheetahs are at basically everything. He's fun to draw and I'd like to do more art of him one day.
10. Return to the Pride Lands
This is a sketch of what I deadass thought was gonna happen during this scene the first time I saw this episode lmao. At the time, the previous two episodes were fresh on my mind so I thought Kion was once again going to spam his tornado ability, but with Vitani as his subject for his demonstration. She already knew so little of the Roar as it was, given her absence throughout most of TLG's storyline, but could you imagine what she must've been thinking seeing how much Kion's Roar evolved?

let's chat about mulder and names <3 (and bear with me because i'm not feeling great today)
"who'd you tick off to get stuck with this detail, scully?"
following only "no one down here but the FBI's most unwanted," and "isn't it nice to suddenly be so highly regarded," his third wise-crack is the first to address his new partner by name; effectively endowing dana with new identity as soon as she crosses the basement office threshold.
one of the few things that i get a kick out of in season nine, is how everyone has a first name again, after mulder leaves.
characters that we have known for years as "scully," "skinner," "doggett," and "reyes" become "dana," "walter," "john," and "monica."
it means something else, in this particular group, in this particular absence.
when scully's father passes away, mulder addresses her by name for the first time (visibly throwing her off as she clocks the difference, chuckling and repeating it back) to check on her personally, before suggesting that she take some time away from work.
and this continues to be the line drawn throughout season one, a way that he signals a personal connection apart from the professional; notably here in lazarus, when concerned for her safety ("this one is important to me")
carrying over to his next partner, he also utilizes this timing to establish connection with krycek, when they were working together.
(i believe that krycek is the only character other than scully that we hear mulder call their first name? do with that what you will!)
and seven years later, to reference and recall that connection, in the end.
after nearly a year together, always the learner, scully attempts to reciprocate this method; addressing him by his own first name, when she has something personal that she wants to communicate.
when she's cut off, and he interrupts with a laugh and shake of his head.
he tells her, "i even made my parents call me mulder," which is not true- but as discussed here- isn't a ploy for distance either. rather, it's more to say, "this is what i prefer from those close to me."
his parents, diana, senator matheson, CSM at times, all call him "fox." everyone in his personal life (aside from TLG) calls him "fox," regardless of if he's asked them not to in the past.
for some, it's a power play. for others, an insult. some just don't care.
my favorite thing about this scene in tooms with scully, is that she doesn't pause. she doesn't reconsider, or redirect. she doesn’t address it. she doesn't look away. she attempted to establish intimacy in one way, and was communicated with, and she takes it in strides.
it's barely a breath before she says exactly what she had planned on saying, adjusted only slightly to accommodate: "mulder, i wouldn't put myself on the line for anybody but you."
our first introduction to another scully girl, a comatose dana tells her sister through astral planes to say "mulder."
i love this about missy, that she holds crystals over her sister's body and listens. she instantly corrects herself the next time she sees mulder, offering that respect her sister had demanded.
and the first time we hear scully speak after her abduction is to correct her mother, before even opening her eyes.
this is part of their secret language, these identities that they have. the name that he gave her, and the one that she never questions. she takes him exactly as he offers.
diana says "fox" like she has something to prove, scully says "mulder" like it's an endearment. her secret treasure that only she understands.
after all, scully has heard this story: the only thing that stays the same each time mulder recalls samantha's abduction, is his memory of her screaming for him.
"fox" is the last thing that he ever heard his sister say, and it remains hers only. the only exception being the lost children that he tries to save, for her, whom he always introduces himself to by first name.
after a while, that intimacy trick from the beginning becomes moot, as the professional becomes the personal. the work becomes life, and dana becomes scully.
she might be “dana” to everyone outside of that office, but does it compare?
and he only employs it one more time between season 1 and season 9, in the field where i died, an episode all about connection and interpersonal fate.
a whisper, a question: dana, if we had known each other always, in every life, would it have changed things?
she gives him his answer: no. she wouldn’t change a day. and she remains “scully.”
(look at my baby daddy dawg i'm going on the run from the law)
until season 9 brings change, and they are so removed from that office that it would be unrecognizable.
and she’s “dana” over and over. she’s “dearest dana.” she’s his “son’s mother.”
and 25 years after that car outside tooms' house, we hear scully use his first name for the second time. barely above a whisper, it's a personal confession; he's her secret-keeper, he's her accomplice, (he's her son's father).

Hot apple cider, anyone?
LEGO just debuted my latest book nook and now I can share some of the photos I took inside it before I shipped it off for filming.
TLG (The LEGO Group) commissioned this one and wanted a "festive Christmas market" scene with lights. One other thing they wanted was a way to add some interactivity to the book nook so I built a phone dock for the back to extend the scenery with a photo or animation of your choosing.
I'll share more of that later as we get closer to Christmas (for those that celebrate).

Mulder and Scully Didn't Want a "Network" Outside of Each Other
I made a post response a couple months ago; and liked it so well after finding it again (rechecking and recalibrating my opinions via archive browsing, c'est la vie) that I decided to copy paste, polish, and repost this piece as its own work.
I think Mulder and Scully did have allies at the tips of their fingers; but they didn't want outside help.
Mulder was told in S1 that NICAP and other interested parties closely followed his work. TLG had outreach and contacts in Anasazi that hacked into the DOD and brought Mulder the encrypted files. In S3, he and Scully found a support group for women who'd been abducted like Scully. In S4, Mulder casually outsourced a case to Chuck Burks. Each season Mulder could have used TLG's and Skinner's assistance and resources more. And, although we often see he and Scully being friendly and chummy with other people who work in the FBI-- which means they aren't as exclusive or reclusive as everyone, including myself, thinks Mulder and Scully are-- it never goes beyond one important task or case before the relationship or temporary allyship is dropped.
Not to mention, Scully distanced herself from her family naturally before she even met Mulder: before S1, she barely revealed her inner emotions to her father or mother, and in S5's flashback, she only revealed her worries to Melissa as a last resort. In canon otherwise, she's always resented others "meddling" with her life or decisions (Maggie or Melissa or Bill probing or asking questions) and only hung out with her friends here and there (Colton for a lunch date, Ellen for a birthday party, unnamed friends/relatives for S1 wedding, Kelly Ryan because she taught her in Quantico, babysitting her nephew/s, etc.) by choice.
I think Mulder and Scully are naturally reclusive individuals. I think they also don't want to outreach to others, finding they only wanted to have each other in their bubble and no one else.
I think it's a disservice to assume Mulder consumed Scully's social life after she joined the X-Files. Scully was a med student, then a teacher in Quantico, then an eager-eyed field agent-- her version of normal is cleaning her gun and bathing her dog on a Saturday and reading medical journals on a Friday, choosing to call her work partner rather than her own family. S8 DRAGGED her, kicking and screaming, into relying on Skinner's help and opening up the office to her new partner Doggett after keeping him in the dark and almost getting killed and not revealing her own pregnancy until the secret was forced into the open. She was defensive about Monica Reyes at first as well.
Mulder and Scully did not want groupies. They wanted to be alone in their basement away from others and free to do their consuming work without the judgment, censure, or criticism from others, their friends, or their family. They had plenty of resources and met with others constantly who were willing and eager to help (often outside the line of danger so they had no "safety" excuse); but "used" them sparingly, if at all.

Whenever I think about the topic of a fourth season of The Lion Guard (beyond the fact that there won't be one and that it was never planned), I don't often think about it as a continuation of where the show left off, but the main storyline (from Return of the Roar to Return to the Pride Lands) lasting for four seasons, (i.e. if 4 seasons were commissioned for the show from the beginning, instead of 3).
Here's how I'd imagine this hypothetical four-season version of TLG would go:
Season 1: Introduces The Lion Guard, their enemies, establishes and sets up ‘the norm’ for the series. Re-introduces characters from the movie.
Season 2: Introduces Scar and focuses on his revenge plot as well as Kion and the Guard gathering as many forces as they can to unite him. Ends with his defeat (essentiallly, the entire Scar arc lasts the whole season).
Season 3: Focuses on The Lion Guard following their battle with Scar. The conflict is how things have changed since the battle, and how it has affected the group. So there'd be some story in between the end of the final battle and the beginning of the journey. Would also set up Makucha as the main antagonist for the latter half of the series. The season finale ends with them leaving the Tree of Life to regain their strength with peace restored.
Season 4: Picks up at the Tree of Life and focuses on the Guard healing and defeating their new enemies. Ends with a one hour special involving their return in order to cap off everything in the show.
#the lion guard#the lion guard season 2#the lion guard season 3#kion#fuli#bunga#beshte#ono#anga#disney junior#disney jr.#disney jr#again this is all just my hypothetical imagining of the very academic question of “what would TLG be like with 4 seasons.”#My answer would be the very same just with a few tweaks#Been on the mind for a while so thought I'd share it#also obligatory happy anniversary to the DisneyNow release of the final episodes of The Lion Guard#Not gonna outwardly celebrate it until November 3rd (the TV release of the finale) but I still remember it fondly

Do you have any Kion x Jasiri headcanons? Or tlg headcanons in general lol
I have!
Here are some of my TLG headcanons:
Whenever the guard have free time, they sometimes use the lair as their hang out place and they would gossip about things that are happening in the Pridelands.
Ono is the one who brings the most gossip to the group since he's the keenest of sight and sees everything.
Since i watched "The Search for Utamu", i decided to make that episode as Bunga's birthday since Pumbaa mentioned that the day they found the Utamu grubs was the day they met Bunga.
Bunga teases Kion for being a mama's boy and Kion teases him back for being a papa's boy.
Ever since Kiara got kidnapped in "The Rise of Scar," Kion began to become overprotective towards her, and Kiara would sometimes tell him that he sounds like Simba.
Bunga and Fuli do makeover sessions together and Bunga helps her in putting eyeliner.
And here are my Kion x Jasiri headcanons:
Jasiri fell first, but Kion fell harder.
After Kion introduced Jasiri to The Royal Family, Kiara immediately loved her and treated her like a sister. She also became close with Madoa too.
Their first date was a picnic at Hakuna Matata Falls and they watched the sunset together at pride rock.
They definitely kissed under a mistletoe on Christmas at one point.
Kiara was the first one who became supportive of their relationship because she went through the same thing with Kovu and even defends them when people say they shouldn't be together.
Kion would share some of his childhood memories to Jasiri and she would laugh and smile at some of the things she told him.
Thanks for the ask! 🥰

Musical theater songs I associate with TLG/see TLG characters singing
-“Candy Store” (Heathers): Literally what Kiburi and his float would sing in the episode “The Little Guy”
-“How do you solve a problem like Maria?” (The Sound of Music): Is this not everyone except Simba talking about Makuu during “The Savannah Summit”? Just listing all his flaws and shit behind his back
Could even be the Outlanders complaining about Kiburi lol
-“There, Right There/Gay or European” (Legally Blonde the musical): I’ve mentioned it before but everyone in the Outlands are wondering if Neema’s either aromantic-asexual or if that’s just normal crocodile behavior
Spoiler alert: Yes
-Ucheshi’s version of “Congratulations” from Hamilton; taking place during Kiburi and Ucheshi’s argument, Ucheshi yells at her brother, recounting the events of “Let Sleeping Crocs Lie” and explaining just how stupid his actions were by comparing him to Makuu and reminding him what Simba does. If there was a crocodile version of a slap to the face, she’d do it
Ofc Tamka, Nduli, and Neema are spying on them in the background like :0
-“God, I hate Shakespeare”: Not Ushari singing about how much he hates Bunga
-“4 Jews in a Room Bitching” (Falsettos): Janja, Reirei, Mzingo, Kiburi basically introducing themselves and how they got here living in the Outlands ig lol (Creatures in a dump bitching)
Also either Ushari or Shupavu sings “Banishment” instead of “slavery”
-“My House” (Matilda): Wrote about it here!
-“Naughty” (Matilda): The skinks (mainly Shupavu) teaching Hodari how to get revenge by causing mischief
-“Stick it to the Man”: I’ve written about this before too! I can see Kenge singing it while teaching the Outlander kids and the skinks how to defend themselves by channeling their anger. Kinda as a parallel to Bunga’s “Teke Ruka Teleza”
-“Popular” (Wicked): Anyone else see Tiifu and Zuri singing this to Vitani and her lion guard? No? Just me?
-“Murder, Murder” (Jekyll and Hyde): You know how (in my hc) Sumu had a job as an assassin who killed all kinds of animals in his past? Yeah, this song are animals singing about his little murder spree (aka doing his job that evil animals hired him for) and not having a clue who the culprit is
Also not Sumu lowkey having fun like “(Insert name of victim here) I’m happy to inform you that you are relieved of your duties….all of them”
“My dear, you should be more careful walking around at night. You never know whom you might encounter”
“Bad news from the Kings~”
-“Confrontation” (Jekyll and Hyde): Explained here
-“The Smartphone Hour” (Be more chill): Season 2 in a nutshell
SCAR SET A FIRE AND HE BURNED DOWN PRIDE ROCK WOOOAHHHH~
“Consider Yourself” (Oliver): I wanna say this is Makuu welcoming Hodari into his float as an honorary croc but I know he isn’t much of a singer so how about Jasiri welcoming my oc’s Aibu (a striped hyena) and Kifo (a black mamba) into the Outlands/her friend group. Consider themselves official Outlanders :)
Honorable mention, “Master of the House” (Les Miserable): Remember my oc, Mamba, AKA Pua’s predecessor and a complete asshole of a croc? I imagine him singing this song about being a leader
Feat. a younger Pua who legit roasts him hghfgfg
#because i’m musical trash fhfhfhf#may or may not do a part 2#so many animatic/drawing ideas so little talent 😭#the lion guard

An AU TLG roleplay forum
Home | The Lion Guard DEFENDS (proboards.com)
This is AU The Lion Guard role play forum where you can play as your favorite Lion King/Lion Guard Character or create your own! Can’t wait for the adventures? Can’t wait to be part of the Great Circle of life? Then come and join us!
Here is the plot:
After defeating Scar and exiling his followers (Zira and her lionesses) to the Outlands, Simba and Nala became the king and queen of the Pride Lands. The queen gave birth to two cubs, a girl named Kiara (she was older) and a boy named Kion. Kiara, being the older sibling, was trained to be the future queen of the Pride Lands at home, but Kion, being the younger one, was going to be the leader of the Lion Guard, a group that protects the kingdom and defend the Circle of Life.
When old enough, following the traditions, Kiara goes to do her first hunt while Kion and his chosen friends (Bunga, Fuli, Ono and Besthe) start their journey to the Tree of Life to have lessons. Janna and the Night Pride welcome them, and the trainings get started. Kion in the end gets the Roar of the Elders which means he and his friends has completed their training and ready to fulfill their destiny as the Lion Guard of the Pride Lands. They (now as adults) start off back to their home, and when they arrive they experience with surprise that Outlanders and Pridelanders have united again with Zira gone (second battle).
At least, this is that they think. Actually Zira didn't drown in the river but survived and from that day on, she started looking for the way to summon Scar which she manages to find in the end. Zira and ghost Scar now together build an army for revenge. Now it's up to the Lion Guard to protect the Pridelands from the biggest threat of all time.
Peace and Love Lion King <3 And Happy Lion King release day!
