The Lost Boys: What they like in other people
Marko
- creativity
- Absolutely HATES the idea of blending in
- Hence why his jacket is so different from his brother’s jackets
- He’s drawn to creative people who outwardly express their creativity with their appearance
- This is why he loves the board walk!! There are TONS of people who dress originally and In an unapologetic way
- I think one of his biggest struggles with being a vampire is that he can’t be outside during the day, and it’s not because he misses the sun or the warmth, it’s because thats the time of day people are usually outside creating wall murals, doing chalk art, painting landscapes.
- He misses interacting with those artists
- So, if he is at the board walk and just so happens to see someone set up with an easel, painting the lights of carnival rides, you BET that boy is going to introduce himself
- And find out everything there is to know about you
- And try to convince you to stay in Santa Carla forever with him
Paul
- Music taste
- Paul is a music snob
- He will totally judge a person based off the music they listen to, and will, on many occasions, choose his victims based off their poor music taste
- His favorite place on the Boardwalk is the record store
- It’s run by this older lady who shares Paul’s love for music
- He goes in at least once a week to say hi, and discuss music with her
- I feel like her name is Gretchen, but Paul insists on calling her Gretch
- He usually sits behind the cash register and talks to her in between customers
- And if it’s one of those nights where Paul can’t sit still, Gretchen makes him unload boxes in the back room and set up any new displays
- She LOVES to play matchmaker with Paul
- Because she is the only record store around, she knows the music taste of most people who live in Santa Carla
- So she try’s to find Paul a date, by matching up his music taste with a regular’s
- This usually doesn’t work out, but she LOVES to try
- *whispers* “look at her Paul! Isn’t she lovely?? And she listens to Motley Crüe!”
- He went on one date that Gretchen set him up on, and it didn’t end too well….so he swore he would never do it again.
- Let’s just say that the girl smelled a little TOO good and he couldn’t stop himself from having a taste
- He cares too much about Gretchen’s companionship to ruin it with him loosing control and eating all her customers
Dwayne
- kindness
- The boys don’t get shown a lot of kindness because…you know…they kill people and stuff
- But that doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings!!
- Dwayne might be the silent, stern type, BUT if anyone shows him the tiniest bit of kindness this man will become your devoted follower
- He may be a vampire, but he remembers what it was like to be human, and how easy it is to be selfish and just plain mean
- He also remembers that kindness is a choice
- And the kindest people tend to be the strongest
- Being kind to him is one thing, he might keep an eye out for you on the boardwalk in case you find yourself in trouble, or change your tire if you get a flat.
- But
- If your kind to Laddie?
- Maybe he got lost and you helped him find his way back to the boys? Or bought him a ice cream? Or maybe even helped him reach an arcade game he so desperately wanted to play?
- Oh boy.
- You just found your self a guardian watch dog angel. Trust me when I saw NO ONE will lay a hand on you or look at you the wrong way EVER and live to tell the tale
- And if you just so happen to be his type?
- Well, I hope you like Santa Carla because you won’t be leaving
David
- courage
- He admires someone who can stand there ground
- Who can get in the face of a surfer nazi and tell them where they can stick it
- Who won’t put up with Paul and Marko teasing them, and will dish it right back to them!
- Who won’t be intimidated and has no problem telling him and the boys “no” with a smile on their face
- Someone who doesn’t give a flying you-know-what about what anyone has to say to them about hanging around him and his boys
- Their confident in their decisions, even the bad ones
- When offered a drink from that sparkly bottle they give him a wink, and take a huge swig!
- And PROMPTLY spit it out all over their prized poster, because like HELL will you be tricked into doing anything you don’t want to do

Song: There She Goes By The La's
(Please ignore that this song hasn't been released yet in the story timeline.)
(This song is intended to fit this chapter)
Not being able to tear her eyes away, she watched as he peeled down the opposite end of the boardwalk, the other boys following close behind -- each one sparing her one last glance before disappearing into the darkness beyond the boardwalk's lights.
13:23PM
"Holy Shit." The feminine voice gawked in astonishment. The girls body becoming stiff at the sight of the slender figure walking past the shop window.
Jodi couldn't believe her eyes as she watched the pretty figure of her missing friend stride past her boutique, her dark curls bouncing energetically in the early Santa Carla sun.
Dropping the left-over pieces of jewellery onto the shop counter, Jodi made a beeline towards the front of the store, her colleague Drew calling out her name in confusion.
"Did you see her? Don't tell me you didn't see her! She just passed the window!" She questioned in shock, her dark brown eyes scanning the walkway for the glossy cascade of chocolate ringlets and pretty red halter top that she spied the girl wearing as she walked past.
"JoJo how many times do I have to tell you not to discard the stores' products like that? They're not cheap y'know!" Drew sighed heavily, ignoring her friend's outburst and instead focusing back on the muddled assortment of scarfs strewn across one of the many small counters that were dotted around.
"Drew I'm not playing around! I saw Hanna!" Jodi exclaimed, her voice raised and her tone dire.
With her back towards the blonde, Drew rolled her eyes in frustration before replying curtly, "You 'think' that you saw Hanna, Jodi. Just like last night at the boardwalk. Honey, she's long gone." Drew replied without much care, putting a lot of emphasis on the word 'long' and 'gone'.
Dejected by her friend's obvious refusal to believe her words, Jodi made her way towards the door; her mind set on finding out once and for all if she truly was just seeing her best friend or if she was finally going insane.
"Uh! Where are you going?" Drew tutted, her green eyes narrowed accusingly at her blonde friend who now stood with one sneaker out the door.
"I'm gonna prove to you that she's back." Jodi replied simply, her short blonde locks flying around her head like a halo from the strong breeze blowing through the open door.
"No girl, Mrs Alvarez just stepped out, she'll be back any moment and I ain't getting in trouble again because of you." Drew deadpanned turning away.
"C'mon it'll be quick." Jodi countered, inching further out the door.
"No!" Drew snapped as she turned back around, her pale green eyes widening at the sight of her friend almost completely outside.
"Yes."
"Girl, you're out of your goddamn mind! Mrs Alvarez will literally fire your ass for slacking!" Drew yelled, the sound of her bangles chiming together filled the space between them as she rocked to the side with her hands on her hips.
"So? we'll be back before her. If we go now then we will have at least 20 minutes before she checks in. I swear it'll be quick."
Staring into her friend's hopeful brown eyes, Drew caved in with a deep sigh; her hand reaching up to ruffle her tight caramel curls before sashaying over towards the till to grab the store keys,
"It better be her."
Walking briskly along the pavement, Hanna eyed the seafront curiously. The crowds, though considerably smaller than what it was a few nights ago, still seemed to be taking up much of the boardwalk and beach.
Although the sun was sat high in the Californian sky, the cool air flittering across the open ocean sent cold shivers down Hanna's spine - her mind briefly running over the fact she forgot to bring a jacket.
It had been almost a week since she stumbled into this 'dimension' and ever so slowly she had started to come to terms with her predicament.
Well, almost.
Her dark curls bounced across her back as she walked, her footsteps light and airy on the cement lining the wooden decking leading onto the fairground. The further she walked the more unsure she became of where she was supposed to go.
According to Grandpa Emerson, the pet shop should've been right up ahead from where she was. However, as she looked around, all she could see were old record stores and other miscellaneous shops she had yet to discover.
Huffing out a disgruntled sigh, she turned sharply on her heel, only to reel back in surprise.
She managed to swallow a scream as she came face to face with a girl not much older than she was. Her short blonde hair a complete mess from the breeze and her dark brown eyes glistening with emotions Hanna couldn't quite put a finger on.
"Oh my god - you scared me!" Hanna laughed in shock; her cold hands pressed softly against her chest to try and comfort her racing heart.
Her laugh died out as she took in the girl's facial expression, her pretty face void of any indication of what she could possibly be thinking.
Worried that she somehow offended the girl, Hanna spoke again, this time her voice slightly confused,
"Are you okay?"
"Holy fuck." Came another feminine voice, directing Hanna's eyes towards a taller darker skinned girl with a typical 80's perm.
"Hanna." The blonde girl choked out. Tears swelling up in her eyes as she suddenly embraced the bewildered brunette.
"Hanna you fucking idiot — where have you been?" The blonde chocked out between sobs.
Speechless, Hanna stood there with her mouth agape. Her mind was racing with confusion from what was happening.
Who were these girls?
Not quite knowing what to make of the situation, Hanna once again let out a small flustered laugh, all the while attempting to shake of the small blonde attached to her waist.
"I'm sorry, do I know you?" Her honeyed voice was light despite the complexity of the situation. The last few days were already hard enough as she tried to trapeze her way through what she could only describe as a fever dream.
Burned by the brunette's words, the blonde jumped back in astonishment. Her brown tear-filled eyes narrowing in pain and her mouth drawing quickly into a quivering line.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" The taller of the two yelled in upset, left arm coming up to wrap around the short blonde's shoulder in comfort.
"I-I'm sorry," Hanna stuttered, once again taken aback by the tall girl's crude words and hostility.
"Do you know how worried we all were for you? We had people out at all hours of the day looking for you! We all spent months searching for you and this is how you act now that you suddenly show up out of nowhere?!" The teary-eyed blonde sobbed. Pedestrians passing by now beginning to notice the small scene she was creating.
Watching the blonde girl cry caused an uncomfortable feeling to wash over Hanna as she stood there awkwardly. The disappointed looks she received from passer-by's made her want to shrivel up and hide.
"I'm sorry. Please don't cry." Hanna soothed, her hand reaching up tensely to try and comfort the blonde to stop her crying.
"Where did you go Hanna? Why didn't you tell us that you were leaving?" The dark skinned girl pushed, reaching out and grabbing Hanna's shoulders gently.
Not wanting to cause anymore tension, Hanna decided to play along. How could she explain to these two strangers that she has no idea what they're talking about without causing them to lash out again?
"I'm sorry. I just needed some... space... out of town..." She breathed out, completely lost on what to say.
Looking into the tall girls soft green eyes, Hanna could see them harden slightly at her words, the girl obviously not believing what she was saying.
With a slight squeeze of her shoulders, the green eyed girl stepped back, her face now void of any emotion, "Lets go JoJo. We're done here."
As the words left her friends mouth Jodi wiped the last few salty tears from her red rimmed eyes, her fingers deftly sweeping a few loose strands of hair behind her ear. Then without another glance or a single word she turned away, allowing her friend to grab her wrist and retreat back the way they had came.
Not expecting them to walk away, Hanna watched on in silence. Her mind was reeling with what had just transpired and all she was left with emotionally was deep perplexity and a mild sense of discouragement.
What had she fallen into?
After searching for a while, Hanna eventually stumbled across the pet shop tucked away on a tree-lined street not far from where the boardwalk was situated; her spirits dampened after the interaction with those other girls causing her to debate on whether she should even bother facing the owner of the store who apparently was her employer before she 'ran away'. Fighting back her growing uncertainty she scrutinised the building before her. An assortment of signs littered the large window with images of cats and dogs with the occasional small furry here and there. An open sign was positioned on the old door inviting customers to enter, the red paint now chipped and faded from years of use.
With a deep breath she ready herself to step into the store, her hand reaching up and grasping the cool metal handle and twisting it down with a push. Bells jingled above her as she pushed the door open, and she was immediately hit with the smell of hay and sawdust, the fragrant smell enveloping her and filling her nostrils.
The shop was void of any people, making Hanna feel a little bit more relaxed, 'At least I can think about what I'm gonna say before I meet the owner of this place' she though to herself quickly as she began to chew the skin around her nails. Her relief was short lived though as an older skinny man emerged from the back, his attention not once falling on her. His round spectacles were perched on the tip of his broad nose which he promptly adjusted as he began to sort through a huge pile of papers next to the till.
Swallowing tightly, Hanna stood next to the door awkwardly. It seemed as though the man hadn't realised she was there, or perhaps he was ignoring her on purpose. Regardless, she could feel her palms begin to sweat as she decided to address the man stood behind the counter flipping through what she could see was the newspaper.
"Good morning, Mr Hughes. I was wonder-"
"So you decided to finally come back, then?" His voice was firm and cold, cutting her off mid sentence. The ice in his voice and words caused her mind stop and her words to falter as she replied,
"I-I'm sorry, Mr... Mr Emerson told me that he spoke to you yesterday? A-At the pier? He told me that you needed to see me." From where she stood she found it difficult to read Mr Hughes expression as he remained locked onto his paper, the only sound to be heard was the occasional chatter from the people outside.
"Yes," He said bluntly, finally setting down the paper and removing his gasses to finally look at the young woman, "I don't like doing this kind of thing, but considering the circumstances, you haven't really left me much of a choice."
A sinking feeling began to slowly creep over her at the direction this was going in.
"You're fired."
The words were swift and direct leaving no room for debate. Fired? she'd never been fired before and she had to say it didn't leave a very good taste in her mouth, especially considering that it wasn't even her fault in the first place. Taken aback by his words she couldn't help but bite back without thinking,
"For what exactly? Going missing?" Her words held a small spark of defiance, sarcasm dripped off her tongue promptly, exposing an attitude she wasn't aware she had.
For a moment there was silence, her words hanging heavily in the air. It wasn't until she saw his expression harden that she slightly regretted her choice of words.
"That! That right there is the issue, Missy. You disappearing for 3 months was just the last nail in the coffin. It's your attitude you constantly bring around here that's led to me doing this. I remember when you started working here last spring - you were so dedicated. Reliable. But ever since you found yourself that boyfriend of yours who socialises with those thugs, you've changed; and I cannot keep you here any longer. It's bad for my business." His words were stern and final, causing Hanna to stand there speechless. 'Didn't Mr Emerson say this this guy would be happy to have me back? Didn't he explain my situation?' Her mind was spinning with confusion at the hostility this man was exhibiting.
"I'm sorry for what I said Mr Hughes, it's just that Mr Emerson told me that you'd be happy to have me back." She spoke meekly, the spark from before extinguished. Shifting her weight slightly she moved away from the door and proceeded up to the counter where Mr Hughes stood tapping his bony fingers against the soft wood he was leading on.
With a quick exhale, the old man's expression softened slightly, "I am happy that you're safe, Hanna. It's been tough worrying about where you were and if you'd ever show up again," he paused, his grey eyes flicking to the array of newspapers stacked to the side, "So many kids have gone missing recently, no one was sure if you were gonna end up as one of those missing posters that just gets buried beneath the others." His voice trailed of solemnly, deep emotion brewing behind his old eyes.
This made her gulp in hard realisation.
Everyone had thought that she was dead.
Dead.
Swallowing thickly, she steadied herself. Her hand reaching up to absently play with a lock of her hair, "I understand." She half whispered, Whether she was talking to him in that moment or herself she wasn't sure, all she could think about was the way everyone seemed to react to her sudden appearance the past few days. Her dark brown eyes flickered over to the newspapers automatically, her gaze slightly unfocused as she began to focus on the unpleasantness her situation was stirring.
"In any case, I've got your pay check here - I had to pull a few strings here and there but I managed to slip a few extra dollars in there." Mr Hughes stated, offering her a weak smile and a crisp white envelope. She could tell from his body language that even though he wasn't too pleased with her overall performance, he didn't really want to have to dismiss her, especially after her miraculous return to the risky coastal town.
But alas, some things were inevitable.
"Thank you." She mumbled delicately as she took the envelope from his fingers, the paper crinkling slightly as she did.
Turning on her heel, she slowly crossed over to the door, her mind now only focused on one thing. However, before she could open the door, Mr Hughes called out to her, "And Stay away from those biker boys - do you hear me? Nothing but bad news those four. Jut as bad as that boyfriend of yours. If not worse."
Hanna turned slightly at his words, unsure as to what the old man was talking about, "Who?"
"The bikers who would come up here almost every night asking for you. You know darn well who I'm taking about. They like intimidating my customers. " He grumbled irritably at her supposed feigned ignorance.
Her face scrunched up slightly at that revelation. 'There are bikers who ask for me? Does he mean the ones who gave me a ride a few nights ago?' Hanna pondered with a frown, the news that the handsome bikers would ask for her made her feel oddly giddy but there was a also small part that felt a bit creeped out at there continuous persistence.
With a tight lipped smile, Hanna exited the shop with a plethora or different emotions coursing through her body, her mind now focused on only one thing.
It seemed she needed to start digging a little deeper into who she was in Santa Carla.
Perhaps starting with Mr Emerson.

It can be ‘x reader’ or ‘x oc’, I really don’t mind. I’m just desperate to binge read about comfort characters and I feel like I’ve read everything for them already :( It can be on any platform, just as long as it’s well written and long! Changes chapter 51
< Previous chapter
Series masterlist
The house was quiet. Max had left earlier that week, and still Julie hadn't heard anything. Not from him, not from Lucy. She sighed as her fingers brushed through Thorns hair. She couldn't help but feel nervous. What if her mom was not like she remembered. Or what if her mom was disappointed in who she had become? What if she was terrified of vampires and didn't want anything to do with her own daughter anymore?
She took a deep breath, shaking her head slightly. No matter her nerves, she shouldn't think like this. They were away to get her mom, her mom, who had taken such a hit from her going, missing that she was still not alright. Bitterly, Julie thought that it was a thing she and her mom had in common. She still couldn't stand doctors. She still sometimes had the feeling of seeing familiar horrifying faces in the crowds.
She sighed as she walked to the fridge, taking a bloodbag, double checking the type, before putting it in a cup and heating it up.
She waited patiently as the timer went down, looking up when she heard a loud knock on the door. She ignored the beeping of the microwave, instead walking to the door, Thorn following close behind. As she opened it, her cautious look turned into a bright grin.
"Maria!"
"Hey, Jules," the woman smiled. She looked tougher since the last time Julie had seen her. As if she had been fighting and seen horrors, she thought quietly.
"What are you doing here? When you left I-" Julie stopped herself from rambling, stepping aside and opening the door wider. "Come on in."
"After Shelly died, I just couldn't stay here," Maria said quietly, staring at her cup of coffee. "I blamed COL for it, so I spent my time learning how to use guns, how to get in and out of buildings undiscovered. I wanted to take them down."
Julie didn't know what to say, so she just stared at Maria with a not so well hidden amazement in her eyes.
"It was crazy, but it worked? Just a little, I managed to destroy one other chapter."
"You are so cool!" Julie grinned, giving Maria a tight hug. "You're like an action hero!"
Maria laughed, shaking her head. "No," she said, "absolutely not. Believe me. This is just cheaper than any therapy I can afford."
Julie was quiet for a moment before giggling. "I guess it is!" After all, hadn't she done the exact same thing?
"Are you doing this all alone?" She asked softly. Maria nodded.
"I don't want to drag anyone else into this mess."
"We've already destroyed one chapter. We can always help you. It's for a good cause after all."
Maria shook her head, taking Julie's hand in hers. "Jules, you've been fighting this since you were seventeen. You've been fighting for four years. I don't want you to anymore. You found a home, a family - you've had your revenge. Now let me get mine."
The two of them had been so deep in conversation that they hadn't noticed David walking in.
"I agree," he said, startling Julie. "I also think you shouldn't do this alone."
"What do you suggest I do then?"
"Star wants to end COL as well. Michael wants to go along, so I might also just join."
Julie frowned slightly. "Is something going on between you and Michael?"
"Not yet."
"Are you certain this is what you'd do? It's not an easy thing to do."
David shrugged. He looked at Julie before turning his gaze back on Maria. "I've got some wrongs to right."
Later that evening, Julie was alone again. She still didn't know how to feel about her best friend and her brother going out to fight and end the Company of Life, but she did appreciate it. Still, them risking their lives?
As worry overtook her, she grabbed a bowl, some eggs and flower, and began to bake. It kept her mind off of things, and this way, she could give them something for when they were on the road.
After finishing the batter, she filled thirty-six cupcake cups and put them in the oven. The house smelled nice, and the kitchen was cleaned with little to no effort. Julie sighed. It would be weird not to have David or Michael around. Ever since David had taken up her driving lessons, she had become quite good at it, and she became quite close to him. She and Michael had fun, even though her memories of him weren't all there.
Hell, she thought quietly, she was even going to miss Star's quiet presence. Not that she'd let anyone know that. Luckily, Paul, Marko, and Dwayne had all explicitly stated that they'd be staying in Santa Carla.
The oven beeped, and Julie took the first tray of twelve out easily. She grabbed the second, the oven door still open when Max entered the house. His keys rattled against the front door, and Thorn jumped from the couch dancing around the second he heard his master.
As Max walked in, Lucy was close to follow. She was carrying a large bag.
Julie stood there, frozen,a tray of cupcakes in her hands. She looked at the people walking in, looking past Max, looking past Lucy. Staring at the woman entering the house last. A tall, kind looking woman with dark curly hair. The woman whom Julie had seen in flashes of memories, the woman who she had longed to see for so long. As she looked at the woman, she lost grip of the tray, letting the small cakes fall to the ground. Julie didn't care, instead looking at the woman.
The woman stared back, frozen in place in the hallway.
"Mom?"
"Julie?"
The two of them stared at each other before they ran towards the other, holding on tightly. Julie closed her eyes as she breathed her mom in, smelling the familiar scent of vanilla and cinnamon. Her mother held onto her tightly, rushing her hand over her hair as she kept hugging her, as if she was feeling whether or not she was truly there.
"You're alive... you're here.." her mother whispered with tears in her eyes.
"I didn't think I'd ever see you again..."
"Neither did I, sweetheart," her mother pulled away, looking at her. "They told me what happened, what those people did to you,.." she became quiet, really looking at her daughter. "You became a beautiful woman."
"I missed you so much," tears ran down Julie's face as she held on to her mother.
"Me too, darling," her mother smiled softly, leading her to the couch and sitting down.
Lucy had taken the other tray of cupcakes out of the oven and walked into the living room with a plate of cupcakes in one hand and two empty cups in the other. She gave them both some lemonade before leaving the room.
Julie and het mother talked about everything. About how she ended up at the facility, what she'd been through when she got there, how she was changed and how she found her place here.
"Are you happy?"
Julie nodded, smiling brightly.
"Good," her mom smiled. "And Max is treating you well?"
Once again Julie nodded, looking at her mom. "He kind of became my dad."
"I'm glad you found a family." Her mother hugged her again, tightly. "And I'm glad you remember me. When Lucy told me you had trouble remembering things I feared the worst."
"I couldn't remember your face," Julie said quietly, "but I remembered baking together. And having fun."
Her mother was quiet as the two of them sat their, both drinking their drinks and eating their cupcakes.
"Mom?"
"Are you going to stay?"
It was quiet for a moment, before the woman nodded. "I am."
"Will you become like us?"
"I don't know."
"I don't want to lose you again..."
Her mother gave her a sad smile, holding her tightly. "Me neither, darling. I will think about it, I promise you. Until then, I am going to live with Lucy. You can always call, and we can meet up as often as you'd like. I don't want to go, but Lucy and the doctors both said it would be best if we slowly built our relationship up again."
Julie nodded, not really understanding why per se, but accepting it enough. She hugged her mom, waving her goodbye, before making her way up to her room. She closed the door, Thorn jumping inside before she did so, and went to lay down on her bed. She stared at the sunset painted on her walls, remembering with a smile how long ago that was. How different things had been back then. How different things were now.
Over the next couple of weeks, she hung out with her mom often, at one point introducing her to the boys - whom she loved. It was a weird sight to see the three of them being so domestic, exchanging pleasantries, and playing boardgames. But Julie loved it.
Night after night, she began to feel happier, more free, and more home than she had in a long time. Dwayne and her hung out often, Marko and Paul also stepping by whenever they wanted to. Sometimes they had updates about what David, Maria, Michael and Star were doing - with the exciting update being they destroyed a third chapter of COL already, and a boring update being that Michael and David actually got together. It was fun for them, of course, but back at home, everyone already knew it was bound to happen.
Max and Lucy became closer, in such a way that Lucy agreed to turn. It was a wonderful thing to see Max so happy and in love, but it caused an awkward feeling to rise within Julie. After all, her aunt was now also her adopted mom. When she brought up this problem to Paul, he immediately began to sing an old folk tune, I am my own Grandpa, and Julie decided right then and there that she should not be worried about it.
Things were good. Thanksgiving came and went, without a word from David and the others. When Christmas rolled along, things were different. The house was filled with bright lights, and a large christmastree stood in the living room with piles of presents spread out underneath it. Lucy, Julie and Dana - Julie's mom - were working in the kitchen, Lucy making dinner and the mother and daughter working on the deserts.
Tonight, it would be a full house. Max had invited everyone, including Grandpa Emerson (who never dared to set foot in the direction of Max' house because he was sick of vampires) and the Widow Johnson. Both had denied the invitation request, but even then, the house would be filled to the brim. Sam was coming, the boys, David and Michael had returned, and even Maria and Star were joining the Christmas festivities.
That night, the house was filled with laughter and fun. Gifts were being exchanged, food was eaten and at last, when the sun began to rise it was decided everyone could stay here and hide from the sun. With a contend smile, Julie told the others goodnight, walking up to her room. She closed the block out curtains, opening the door when she heard Thorn run up the stairs.
"You want to sleep with me, hm?" She smiled, letting the hellhound in.
She changed into her pyjamas and dropped down on her bed, covering herself with three thick layers of blankets. It was like a warm, cosy cocoon that she knew she'd have trouble to leave the next day. She sighed a deep content sigh, her fingers brushing through Thorns fur. Yes, she thought quietly to herself, after everything she's been through, after everything that changed, she finally felt just right.
She was home.

So... this is it. It's weird ending this story after working on it for so many months, publishing weekly with occasionally multiple chapters per week. I'm really glad this story is out there now and that it has found some love with you as readers. So thank you for reading and for responding and reblogging - all of your comments really made my day in words I can barely describe.
The next thing I am going to be working on are the requests I have in my inbox (I am so sorry for the incredibly long wait before I uploaded your requests, I wanted to finish Changes before the new year).
After that I'll see. There are some older stories on here that deserve a rewrite (looking at Roseblood, I wrote that stuff when I was sixteen, and boy could it use an update) and of course, there are some stories still in need of getting their final chapters.
Anyways. Long story short, thank you for reading. And happy holidays, and may the new year bring you as much luck and happiness as you need.💜

Piercings (TLB x Male!OC)
Tumblr media
(Paul gets pierced despite his fear of needles. Read to find out where)
“Are you sure you want to do this Paulie ?” Marko asked, as Paul laid back on the tattoo table, his shirt and jacket removed. “You practically cried when you had to get your ears pierced, you couldn’t even get the second one done because you were so scared.”
“I can do this Marko.” Paul assured. “Rihan was real gentle when he pierced my other ear, I didn’t even feel it.”
“Because we’re vampires. We seldom feel pain.” Dwayne said from across the room, flipping through a magazine.
“And that needle he used was only like what, 50% silver ? I saw him struggle to get it through your ear lobe.” David said, digging through the candy bowl Rihan kept in the waiting area. “Is he seriously out of fun sized Reese’s Cups ?”
“I’m out of Reese’s Cups because you keep eating them all, David.” Rihan said, abruptly entering the room, carrying a black box. “Get the fuck out of the candy bowl, it’s for paying customers only.”
“We’re paying aren’t we ?” David scoffed, rolling his eyes, avoiding Rihan’s glare.
“Paying me in affection is not the same as paying me in money, which I need.” Rihan argued, before turning away from David and turning towards Paul. “Are you sure you want to do this babe ?”
“I’m sure.” Paul nodded, taking a deep breath. “I just want to get it over with.”
“Alright Paul but I just have to warn you.” Rihan opened the box, revealing a shiny, new, needle. “I’m gonna have to use this.”
“And what the hell is that ?” Paul asked, his breath a little shaky.
“That doesn’t look like a regular piercing needle Ri.” Marko said, looking at the needle and then looking at Rihan.
“It’s not. It’s pure silver.” Rihan said. “My regular needles had a tough time just penetrating his ear lobe, I need something stronger for this particular piercing, so that I can actually pierce you without your healing factor kicking in immediately and so the piercing will heal naturally.”
“So it’s gonna hurt ?!?” Paul asked, eyes wide. “ I don’t want it to hurt !”
“Do you still want to this ?” Rihan asked. “Because I won’t force you, but this needle was fifty dollars, not including the shipping and taxing fees, which is why I had you wait two weeks when you first said you wanted your nipples pierced, so either you go through with it, or all of you owe me about seventy bucks.”
“Look we’ll get you the money.” David said, standing up. “I’m pretty sure there’s some sucker we could rob-“
“No.” Paul interrupted. Everyone looked at him.
“No ?” David asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Rihan went through too much trouble to get that special needle because I said I wanted the piercings. I want to go through with it.” Paul looked at Rihan and then the rest of the boys. “I’m gonna go through with it. I just… I need some support.”
“Alright so how are we doing this ?” Rihan asked, pulling his chair towards the left side of the table and sitting down.
“Here I’ll hold his hand.” Marko said, rushing to Paul’s right side and holding his hand.
Dwayne stood up and placed himself right behind the tattoo chair on the left side, taking Paul’s left hand and holding it up to his cheek.
David placed himself right on the floor, on his knees, as he was right next to Paul’s head.
“We gotcha Paul, we gotcha.” David said, his voice soft. “You’re gonna get through this, okay baby ?”
Paul nodded, taking deep breaths, shutting his eyes.
“Alright Paul, don’t be scared, I’m just cleaning the area real quick, alright ?” Rihan assured, dabbing the sanitary pad on Paul’s nipple. “That isn’t so bad, is it ?”
Paul didn’t say anything, keeping his eyes closed as he breathed in and out, the coldness of the sanitary pad making him flinch slightly.
“You’re doing so good baby.” Marko kissed his palm. “You’re being so good right now, it’ll only be over in a second.”
“Alright Paul this isn’t the needle, it’s a marker, I’m marking where I need to put the needle through, okay ?” Rihan said, patting Paul’s thigh. “You’re doing so well sweetheart, you’re so brave.” He cupped Paul’s chest, something he wouldn’t do with regular customers but he thought it would ease Paul’s mind if he felt his touch, even if he was wearing gloves. He made a mark on the first nipple, drawing two dots before doing the same to the second. Rihan took a deep breath.
“Alright Paul. Just breathe for me, can you do that babe ?” Rihan asked. “Don’t panic and stay still, okay ? Here comes the clamp.”
Paul’s breathing started to pick up when he felt the clamp as he held Marko and Dwayne’s hands in a death grip. David started stroking his hair.
“Shhh, calm down and just breathe babe.” David said. “You wanted this and you’re gonna see it through and then they’re gonna look so good on you.” he kissed Paul’s temple. “Deep breaths okay ?”
“Alright on three.” Rihan said, focusing the needle on the dots. “One…two…three.” Rihan quickly inserted the needle through Paul’s nipple. Paul yelped in pain, losing his grip on Marko’s hand but Marko quickly grasped his hand.
“Baby it’s okay, it’s okay.” Marko kissed his middle finger. “You’re almost there, it’s alright”
“You’re almost done Paul.” Dwayne kissed his other hand.
Rihan removed the needle and quickly inserted the barbel, screwing the ends on.
“I can’t do it.” Paul huffed, almost on the verge of tears, he opened his eyes, giving pleading looks to the others. “I can’t do that again please-“
“Now Paulie.” David crooned, turning Paul’s face toward his. “You said you could do this and we know you can do this, don’t punk out and leave a half finished job”
“I’ll try to be quick with it, okay babe ?” Rihan cooed. “Just keep holding onto the others okay ? You’re being so good right now, this other one is going to be a piece of cake.”
Paul nodded, taking deep breaths that soon turned into pants once Rihan put the clamp on his other nipple.
Marko turned Paul’s face towards him and pressed his lips against his forehead.
“You got this Paul.” Marko whispered.
“I’m going in on three” Rihan said, aligning the needle. “One…two…” and then inserted the needle as fast as he could.
“Fucking shit !” Paul hissed, squeezing his eyes shut. “You said you were going on three-“ that’s when Paul made the mistake of looking down, seeing the needle that was inserted into his nipple. He let out a shaky breath and his eyes started to roll into the back of his head.
“Hey, Paulie no !” David tapped Paul’s cheek with his finger tips. “You’re okay, don’t blank out on us.”
“He’s alright it’s just shock , I have clients pass out all the time.” Rihan assured, taking the needle out and placing the barbell in in, screwing in the ends. “Paulie ? Pretty Bird, you with me ?”
Paul groaned in response and nodded, still panting.
“You’re all done babe.” Rihan smiled. “You did so well for me, you were so brave.”
Paul slowly sat up, sweat gracing his forehead. Dwayne grabbed some paper towels and dabbed the sweat away.
“Shame I can’t show you in the mirror but I can assure you that they look pretty badass, maybe my best work yet.” Rihan said with a smirk.
Paul finally got the courage to look down at his new additions, his face filling with joy when he saw them.
“Holy shit these are badass !” Paul said, cupping his pecs to get a better look.
“How long till we can play with em ?” David asked.
“You gotta admit that they do look pretty hot on him.” Marko grinned, Dwayne nodding in agreement.
“Hard to say with his healing factor but there will be no playing tonight just to be safe.” Rihan said sternly, crossing his arms.
And with that, the boys irrupted into a symphony of groans and protests.

The Lost Boys Giant Poly Circle
I got to thinking about my witch coven and the lost boys vampires and how I wanted to keep the romance options between them as one giant polycule! Well that got me thinking on how that might be confusing to people not in the know about poly ships.
Tumblr media
Now of course, I am not all that knowledgeable either, after all I don't have experience with polyamory but I think this is a pretty good break down of how I view, not only the relationships between my ocs and the vamps, but also how I view the relationships between them.
And of course no art post of mine would be complete without some lovely close ups I doodled for this meme. The ones I'm most proud of are of course Blair and Star, but I think David came out pretty well.
Forgive me for not drawing any detail on the jackets for Marko, Dwayne, and Paul.
