Another one of my favorite people! 🥰 welcome to my tipsy ask box, where because I am smooshy drunk on port* I would like to say some nice things about the people in my ask box before probably answering your question. So! some of my favorite things about Mac: 1) she writes some of the most exquisite (I am not going to tell you how long it took me to type that word) fics I have ever read, they are so deeply felt and also the prose is lovely; 2) among these lovely fics are some of the most amazing smut I have ever read, definitely read these but not if there are other people around unless you have a good poker face, because they are 🔥 <-- I could not find the chile pepper emoji but a fire is also hot so here we are; 3) she is also just a kind and encouraging person and fandom is lucky to have her. there you have it. 💜

I think this is the hardest question I got tonight, and I am a little bit nervous to answer it. liquid courage! here it is:

My favorite thing I've written this year is the 00leiter fic I wrote for the Fanworks Fiesta, called "all the flags we've hung." (I feel like I should link to it but the links are beyond me at this point, alas 😂) This was the first thing I wrote where I was acutely aware of the possibility that 1) no one would like it, and 2) no one would even want to read it in the first place. the reasons for that were, first, Felix/Bond is a bit of a rare pair, at least when compared to 00q; and second, I couldn't bring myself to write a lighthearted prompt fill for this one. I hesitate to ever say what I think one of my fics is "about," because I do think that fics, once you have written them, belong to the reader, no? But I will say that, in a sense, this fic is an exploration of many kinds of love: the love between Bond and Felix in this fic, which defies easy categorization, and doesn't fit neatly, maybe, into a box of what we consider romantic love; and also love of country--of patriotism, and what it might mean for Felix to fight for, and love, a country that actively marginalizes and harms him in many ways. That was the other thing that made this scary to write, and also potentially unpopular: I wrote directly and explicitly about racism in the United States, its effect on Felix and his work, and even how that experience of racism creates a gulf between Bond and Felix that is not easily overcome. At the end of the day, however, I simply couldn't *not* write this. There is not a lot of fic, at least in this fandom, that accurately represents me or my experiences. This is not a dig or--shit I cannot remember the word, forgive me. I'm trying to say that I'm not criticizing here, just pointing out that of course the Bond movies are in some ways very white, so of course the things written about them would be, too. This simply is what it is. But, like many authors, I think I'm constantly walking that line between the characters as they are in canon, and also bringing my entire self to what I write. And the experience of *my* entire self is, in many ways, more like that of Felix than of Bond. All that to say I poured my whole heart into this fic, and while to date it is the one that has had the least interaction, I think it is the one I am the proudest of, and will be for a while.

I’m gonna be honest I didn’t realize the new 52 messed with Kon that much till I read your post and now I can’t get over the potential. I’m a Tim/Kon girly at heart so I would devour anything you write exploring the 52 vs typical Kon. Also Time being in a clone sandwich is 👌.

the new-52 messed Kon up SO bad it's ridiculous. like, to the point i would personally argue he's a completely unrelated character to pre-Flashpoint/Rebirth Kon. his personality, his suit, his origin, all different. the only real similarities are the name and powerset. and even New-52!Kon's powers are slightly different from pre-Flashpoint!Kon. New-52!Kon is a clone of a future version of Jon Lane Kent, cloned by N.O.W.H.E.R.E. to provide genetic material to Jon Lane Kent, whose body was not handling being half human/half Kryptonian well, it was a whole thing. New-52!Kon is also where we get the infamous "Kon-El means 'abomination of the house of El' and Kara basically named him a slur in Kryptonian culture" tidbit, because that is the only time that's canon. (originally Kon-El was a name gifted by Clark to accept Kon as his family way back in the 90s) he also never went by Conner Kent. New-52!Kon just straight up didn't have any real human identity or connections, outside of being very close to Tim and some Titans.

the very TLDR of Kon's history is: during post-Crisis/pre-Flashpoint, a clone called Superboy is created by CADMUS. at first, he's considered to be a clone of a dude named Paul Westfield and is not Kryptonian whatsoever, he was simply made to look like Superman and only has Tactile Telekinesis as a power. then, it was made canon that actually he was a clone of Lex Luthor and Clark Kent, but Lex hid this fact and slowly, Kon developed more Kryptonian powers. he's given the name Kon-El by Clark, and is taken in by the Kents, getting the name Conner Kent. then Flashpoint happens, we get the New-52, and we're given the above version of Kon-El, who is a clone of Jon Lane Kent, created by N.O.W.H.E.R.E. who has mostly very strong telekinesis powers and some Kryptonian powers. he's with the Titans for a bit, then at the end of the New-52, he kills some aliens and feels bad about it so he decides to fuck off and is never seen again, it's presumed he's dead but never confirmed. then Rebirth happens and DC makes Jon Kent the current Superboy, we get Supersons and all that, and it's assumed that no version of Kon-El exists. just at all. he's not around whatsoever, Jon is our only Superboy. *but* in 2019, we get a new Young Justice run and the pre-Flashpoint Kon-El is back, and we're given the explanation of: Kon got accidentally teleported to this alternate realm called Gemworld and then Flashpoint happened, and since that was a Crisis Event that changed the timeline, the poor lad got *erased* from the timeline, causing most people to *not fucking remember him* and for him to remember a timeline that no longer exists. some of the Young Justice team vaguely remember him, Ma and Pa Kent remember him, but notably, Clark *does not remember him*. it's not an issue of "Clark ignored Kon in favor of Jon" it's an issue of "Kon was erased from the timeline and didn't exist for years bc he was stuck in Gemworld and Clark just doesn't remember Kon or Kon's timeline" which to me, is far more tragic but i digress. since then, Kon has been back and is present in most significant Superfamily runs, with his own recent mini-series, Superboy: Man of Tomorrow. (which was very good btw)

so basically: the New-52 fucked Kon up so bad they wrote him out of comics for years and then brought back the pre-Flashpoint version, but never *explicitly* killed the New-52 version off. so hypothetically, it's possible that there are currently two characters existing in the DC universe named Kon-El who have been Superboy. and like i said above, one of New-52!Kon's only real significant relationships was with Tim, it was the only thing the New-52 managed to get right about Superboy, his closeness to Tim. they have a *lot* of moments that read incredibly queer. and ofc, it's just outright confirmed in Dark Crisis: Young Justice that Tim had a crush on pre-Flashpoint!Kon at some point. so while comics are intent on pretending New-52!Kon doesn't exist, i am intent on putting Tim in a clone sandwich.

because i do think it's fun to play with Tim having genuine feelings and potentially a relationship with both of them. and the fucked up nature of him not fully *remembering* his relationship with pre-Flashpoint!Kon (which is a canon thing, in YJ(2019) Tim has vague memories of Kon he's struggling to piece together and understand why he cares about this guy he doesn't recognize so much) and how frustrating that is for Tim. he knows he loves Kon, but it's all foggy besides that. and so it's even *more* fucked up if Tim dated New-52!Kon before he got emo and ran off into the unknown. obviously in canon no one has told current Kon about New-52!Kon bc comics are doing the good ol' tried and true of "sweep that shit under the rug" but for fanfic, i think it's fun to ask the question of: would anyone *tell* Kon? especially Tim? who now remembers dating both versions of them? would he admit to Kon that briefly, he had another Kon? how would Tim cope with that and move on? personality wise, they could not be more different. they dress and act and look different. they're not the same person, but there's certainly a questionable factor of Tim's dating history including two Kon-Els.

the idea i've had for a while is Tim slowly starting to date pre-Flashpoint!Kon again. it feels familiar and like home. and Tim has grieved and accepted that wherever New-52!Kon is, he doesn't want to come home, he didn't love TIm enough to stay and try. so Tim takes the Kon he has, and genuinely has a happy relationship. like for once, life is good and things almost make sense for Tim. but then, of course, New-52!Kon comes back. he decides he wants to try again and he finds Tim. only to find well. he's been replaced. and technically, he's been replaced with the *original* that he didn't even know *existed*. and if being a clone is bad enough, that just makes it a hundred times worse. because imagine knowing you're actually the second Kon-El your boyfriend who you never *technically* broke up with fell in love with. that's gotta give you some kind of complex.

so i think it's fun if both Kons try to step back and let the other Kon date Tim. both of them have reasons to feel like the "replacement" or "fake" Kon, and it makes them incredibly awkward with each other. do they count as the same person? bc they definitely don't *feel* like the same person to each other, but with weird timeline stuff, who can really say. them settling on an awkward throuple that's really meant to be Tim just dating them both but somehow they end up dating each other too is so fun for me. they both feel like imposters to the Superboy name but are so deeply in love with Tim Drake, it's the one thing truly connecting them. and then of course, Tim feels bad in that somehow, he's betraying both of them for having feelings for the other. but they make it work, with a lot of awkward angst and miscommunication. i just think it'd be fun. very difficult to write to get all the weird timeline nuances down in a way that's understandable in a fanfic (bc you can't just. infodump like i did on this post) but doable. also difficult to tag, because even though i argue these are two different characters, i'm pretty sure Ao3 groups them under the same character tag. so it'd be difficult to convey it's not *really* as selfcest-y as it would imply. comics, man. DC will never acknowledge New-52!Kon again, and he's admittedly a terrible adaptation of Kon-El, but. i think he was sort of neat in his own right and i'd *love* for DC to just inexplicably bring him back and make the current Kon deal with the consequences of all that. and them make Tim kiss them both. obviously.

But like maybe? Oh my god, when he steals a kiss and he goes for more. The hands on his chest as you push him away, full of shame as you utter that you're married, that you had your chance with him but it was never meant to be? He's with Soona - you each have your own family units. Kissing was a mistake, you both know that now as the last five years of absence comes crumbling down on both of you. The absolute emotional turmoil that you go through together.

Because 1) she is very nice! 2) she has great tattoos! 3) she is a lovely writer and you should read her holiday angst that she just posted, it will make you cry but it is worth it. Thank you for this question, Stina, with your permission I would like to gush about Nomi and Paloma together because! Not only are they both extremely wonderful, but I feel like they both represent, in NTTD what the future looks like: young women, in particular young women of color, who have to navigate how to be incredible at their jobs in a way that is non-threatening to the (still mostly male, mostly white, mostly straight) field they inhabit. And they do that in such different ways.

Paloma (who you yourself have given the best description of ever, “Lethal Bambi” 😂) does it by being an almost Colombo-esque (hijuela it took me three tries to get that past autocorrect) figure: she is so good at her job, even after only two weeks’ training, but she pretends to bumble her way through it at first. It’s a kind of cute, oops! Saved your life again! Took out the guy on the left! Goodness me! Kind of farce that Bond sees through, by the end, but not right away.

In contrast you have Nomi, who doesn’t care if men, especially Bond, feel threatens, but who compensates by knowing she has to do things by the book, and she has to be the best at them—she has to be good enough that the things she has earned can’t be taken away, and she isn’t afraid to resort to intimidation to get ensure they stay this way.

It’s a heartbreaking reality that still confronts so many people, across so many professional fields, and I think the subtle ways this film communicates that and explores it are deserving of more conversation.

Also I will say because I am tipsy that they are both gorgeous and could both get it, amen.

Out of all the boss characters, who is Rumbler and Tumbler's favorite

Rummer and Tumbler are both very partial to the Tipsy Troop, feeling some sort of kinship with the three of them being drinks. Cups got to stick together after all, right?

Rummer looks up to Mr. Wheezy. On his breaks he'll find his way to the smoking lounge and listen to Wheezy go on and on about the recent gossip regarding King Dice or the other workers. I think he'd share a hookah with Rummer :)

Tumbler likes Bettigan! I think something unspoken inside Tumbler wishes he were bigger and stronger (sound familiar?), and Bettigan does security detail. So when he isn't snapping poker chips across tables or throwing out sad sacks who just lost their last dollar, Bettigan talks Tumbler up and gives him advice on how to stand up for himself better.

She isn't drunk, Addison Forbes-Montgomery does not do drunk, thank you very much, however, she's fairly certain that someone spiked the fruit punch a little too enthusiastically to be appropriate at a party thrown at a damn hospital. Then again, Grey Sloan has never been an institution to do anything by the books.

(She suspects Helm, but can't prove it.)

Meredith's standing a little too close to just be platonic, or is it Addison herself who stepped into the other woman's personal bubble? Either way, Meredith doesn't seem to mind, and Addison is happy, because she'd much rather be standing next to Meredith than anyone else currently present -- and no, she won't be unpacking that mental statement either, thank you very much.

This party has been going on for much longer than Addison would have liked, but her coat is at the very bottom of the pile in the corner, and she can't be bothered to dig it out of the mess. --Okay, and maybe she's enjoying her time spent in Meredith's aura, even though her shoes are making her feet hurt and she's starting to get hungrier than the snacks available will satiate.

Slowly, the crowd of partygoers decreases, until Addison and Meredith are the only ones left standing in the middle of the room, still mere inches from each other.

And Addison decides to act on the impulse that has been bouncing around in her brain ever since she returned to Seattle.

"I'm--" She pauses until she's certain Meredith is listening to her. "I'm going to do something, and if it goes disastrously we can just say we were drunk and don't remember it tomorrow, okay?"

Meredith frowns, but nods, setting her own glass of wine down to the side.

"Okay."

"Okay," Addison repeats, before stepping forward and pressing her lips against Meredith's.

God that wine was cheap, she thinks as she tastes the drops still on Meredith's lips, and then she doesn't think again until their lips part again and the first thought on her mind is oh God.

But Meredith smiles.

"I think I'd like to remember this. Maybe we should do it again, just to be sure."

Now hold on a gosh-diddly-darn minute, I noticed the entire time talking about a tipsy Peppino no one thought to ask this but what about tipsy GUS? I mean we saw him a li'l tipsy in the fastfood saloon escape, can I hear your thoughts about that/him please? Have they ever gotten tipsy together?

(I just like the mental image of the two alone, just being real giggly with each other (Gus just says "hey" and Peppi starts giggling which sets Gus off giggling) and being sappy goofs with each other <3)

My homebrew for gnomes is that they are simultaneously hardy folk (able to eat virtually anything and immune to most poisonous creatures) AND extremely intolerant of alcohol. Theres no reason for that, i just like it alot :)

So Gus would be an extreme lightweight 😭 its SO bad; he cant speak clearly at all, he cant walk straight, he has the Worst hangovers and he wont remember anything from the previous night. The line between ‘pleasantly buzzed’ and ‘blackout drunk’ is so thin that Gus doesnt even try social drinking. If he MUST drink, it will be in the comfort of his own barebones apartment 😭 at least, until Peppino started hanging out with vigilante and his crew.

Gustavo LIKES drinking! Its just hard to find a good balance, and THATS bc he simply doesnt know how alcohol works. Peppino is like:

“Look ‘ere. All of these have a number somewhere on the bottle. Or a percentage. Lower the number, the better it is for you.”

Gustavo is like !!! Oh!!! That is very helpful! What would you recommend for me then?

“Probably…2-5%. 5-10 proof. Small 'a numbers.”

Gustavo nods, interested. He points at a bottle he recognizes from the last time he came here and got shitfaced. “That one up there; do you know how ‘a strong that one is? Or should i ask the bartender?”

Peppino squints at the company label. “45%.”

“Oh!” That makes sense. “Well what do you usually drink?”

“70%.”

“Oh!”

Peppino recommends some of the LIGHT light wines, the ones that barely have a hint of anything. Theyre sweet (which Gustavo loves so very very much) and for the first time in a very long time, he Stays buzzed instead of immediately faceplanting into being blackout drunk.

Hes very. Playful. Is what Peppino would describe a tipsy Gustavo. He hesitates to use the term ‘flirty’ because that is not whats happening. But hes like. Clearly entertaining some gruff looking men like five times his size as they ramble drunkenly about random shit like ‘waow….thasso cool…and then what happened???’

Its funny at first bc Gustavo is so fucking TINY that all you can see of him, in the group of men as they yapyapyap about some inane shit that Gustavo wont even remember, is his tiny little tail 😭 It is less funny, however, when Peppino catches himself rambling about work and Gustavo is like (ears perked; tail swaying) ‘mmhmm. wrow…thats ‘a kinda nice…what else did you do??’ Peppino is like *buffering* (‘something is happening right now that will need to be addressed at a later time. Do not forget DO NOT FORGET. URGENT!!!!’)

Otherwise Gustavo is just a silly guy. Vigilante will make a joke and he laughs so low and deep that he sounds downright villainous 😭 Peppino will point out something stupid on the TV and like hours later Gus is like ‘…heeeuehuuueee…..do u remember [insert stupid reference] and Peppino will giggle. Peppinos affinity for throwing around ilus are met with Gustavo going ‘😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊’ with absolutely no way to even pretend to mask it.

Gustavo has fun being out in the saloon but he really enjoys drinking in Peppinos house. Its not nearly as loud as the saloon and theres usually homecooked foods like breads and soups (Because Peppino stress-cooks ALL the time). Brick gets to stay indoors instead of waiting outside the saloon, so Gustavo gets to mess with his soft fur contentedly. He just gets to be cozy; its quite nice 😊
