Hello I have been reading Tim Drake Robin which I will say is a book that is okay: the pacing isn’t great and the plot isn’t very tight BUT I do think it has some of the better Tim characterization we’ve gotten in a long time (New 52 era was rough) so I’ve stuck with it. Today’s issue was a good example of that mixed bag but I have some highlights.

1. Bernard wants to be a chef and is majoring in Physics and biology.

2. Bernard’s relationship with his parents suck: they obviously did not take his coming out well. His Dad is def the worst of the two while his Mom appears to still care.

3. Bernard knows that Tim is Robin but hasn’t told him as he’s waiting for Tim to tell him. I find this deeply funny as they are both hiding their respective secrets terribly. I think some folks might be upset how poorly Tim hides his identity in this issue and I think that’s fair, but frankly I am a bit tired of “loved one in the dark” so I’ll take “idiots hiding secret from other another and it’s the same secret” instead. I’m willing to excuse a lot of things solely for the rule of funny.

I love how queer Tim Drake: Robin is so far. Not only Tim & Bernard being explicitly boyfriends but also having two side characters be probably sapphic and another who seems to use they/them pronouns. And on top of that, Bernard is finally wearing interesting outfits again instead of the plain outfits in his past few appearances.

Can you imagine a world where nobody knows the batkids are actually Batman's children and hence, when they hear them yelling at each other "I'll report this to Batman!" They think it's actually serious team discussion

And they don't know that for them it literally translates into "I'm telling dad!"

Like, You see Nightwing arguing with Red Hood and going "Oh, i'm SO reporting this to Batman"

"OH NO, YOURE NOT"

"YES I AM"

And everyone else thinks this is serious? And it could affect Hood's status as an ally?

But really is just Dick telling his little brother he's snitching about his broken arm to their dad-

Or you see Red Robin trying to bribe Robin and Spoiler "I'm reporting your actions to Batman"

"Yeah, gotta start the report about it, and he's going to be so-"

"... How much?"

And they smile maliciously, and anyone else thinks RR did something REALLY bad but it's just that he exceeded his weekly allowed coffee and his sibblings found out

Because they also do it to other people, like Tim does it to Supes when he's arguing with Kon-

Headcanon that since Jason can’t go out with his family publicly, what he does instead is show up in random disguises.

Bruce is chatting up some socialites at a gala, talking about the joys of fatherhood and how rewarding it is. Meanwhile he made eye contact with Jason disguised as a waiter twenty minutes ago, and is currently trying to stop his eye from twitching.

Dick is speaking to a third grade class as a part of the Bludhaven Police department outreach program, except when he walks in Jason is sitting behind the teachers desk, playing the role of substitute.

Babs can’t help but stare when Jason hands her a coffee from behind the counter of her favorite coffee shop. (His name tag reads Peter, and for a second she thinks she’s actually lost it).

Tim walks into Wayne Towers one day and on his way in, he waves to his secretary- lo and behold Marjorie has been replaced by Jason. It takes him three hours to notice.

Cass walks into ballet class to discover her teacher had to take a sick day- his replacement is Jason in a beret who talks in a terrible French accent the entire class, only to drop it at the very end to talk in a thick New Jersey accent. Her entire class talks about it for weeks.

Stephanie hails a cab on her way home one night, only to find Jason driving. She’s not sure how he pulled it off or how he got a cab, but her mind is effectively blown.

Duke is on a school trip to the natural history museum, and when the tour guide introduces himself, Duke can’t help but role his eyes. Jason gives a surprisingly good tour, even throwing in some tidbits about a robbery that went down just last week that the Signal stopped.

Damian’s encounter happens when he’s with Jon in metropolis. He’s watching Jon play baseball, and when Jon steps up to bat, he can’t help but notice a the umpire looks a little familiar.
