“King of Nightmares” Concept

I’ve been brainstorming about my version of Dreamworld in The Nightmare Before Christmas’s sequel novel that focuses on Sally. Here’s the king of nightmares! The name might be changed but I’ll give you a little bit of information about his role and his relation to Dreamworld.

So, first off, Dreamworld’s leader is Sandman instead of Sally’s parents. My version of Sandman isn’t villainous. He has ability to give people dreams and restful sleep but I wanted to make an opposing character that causes nightmares and unrestful sleep. Now before I go on, let me mention Oogie Boogie. While he has the ability to scare children hence his line in “This is Halloween” he focuses more on Halloween related activities, while the king of nightmares affects sleep and causes nightmares yearly.

Regarding his design, I wanted to find a way to incorporate common things seen in nightmares while trying to keep in mind how Burton draws his characters and monsters. I plan on coming up with more concept designs as I’m not sure what to settle on.

Artist Skully x nude model muse . . . Do you see my vision?

AAAA I DO!!!! I SEE YOUR VISION IN 20/20!!!!! Part of me wants to imagine his art style errs on the side of realism. Something something Renaissance art styles and techniques,,, maybe chiaroscuro!! I feel like he would make a lot of charcoal art, too. But also,,,, the other part of me wants to imagine him drawing shameless hentai because of his otaku-like behaviors hehe. He has one art style for his academic studies and the other one (hentai) for his personal hobby hehehe. Studying anatomy so he can have better references when drawing his oc (who is just his cool, gothic self-insert) railing another oc (who is just you LOL).

But I also think he draws the most flattering portraits of you when he sits in for his nude figure drawing class. Capturing every angle as he sees it: beautiful, raw, real... soft, supple flesh, graceful limbs, wondrous anatomy. It's not exactly a sexual attraction when he's looking at you in the nude and drawing what he sees,, rather, it's like a very poetic admiration. You're his muse, and he holds you up on quite the lofty pedestal.

It's when you have clothes on and he sees you outside of that class that the filthy, freaky thoughts seep in. <3 he's oscillating between pure, sweet adoration for his muse and the absolutely shameless smut that fills his mind when he's drawing hentai of you.

The characters work well with TNBC/Burton style. Don't worry though, Cane's not abstracting. I was trying to show pixelation but that's hard to do when you're mostly a traditional mixed media artist and not a digital guru. Oh well.))

Hey, do you have anything new with TSHL? I think the angst opportunities are huge. And the confort. I can think that rise!Raph will hold down a feral 12!Raph in pain, hugging him and conforming him.

Oh yeah. It's a horror au for a reason :)

As I've said before, the universe wants to make them "fit" into the world, (which includes the enemies that get in there too) so you can imagine how awful it feels to be seen by the UNIVERSE as a mistake that needs "correcting". It's the worst feeling. Not only that, what if the universe wants you as something else? Ehat if you want something else? What if unlike the others, you actually like the changes given and want to stay even if it hurts, but everyone is screaming for you to change back? You just want to be comfortable just like they are.

You want to belong.

You want to be the you inside.

Or the universe is just a sadistic lovecraftian creature that just wants to cause pain to a couple color-coded turtles.
