Five Shocking Home Treatments for Acne You’ve got a sizzling date lined up, maybe with a couple’s chocolate wrap? You’re eager and prepared to leave when you peek in the mirror and discover an obtrusively large pimple on your face. It would be natural to pop it, but don’t! It will just allow additional germs to enter, worsen the condition’s appearance, and, even worse, leave an acne scar. Here are your options.

You’ve got a sizzling date lined up, maybe with a couple’s chocolate wrap? When you look in the mirror as you get ready to go, a pimple has inconveniently appeared on your face in a very apparent way.
To avoid rushing on the day of your hot date, keep all of these ingredients close at hand. Isn’t it difficult enough having to decide what to wear that evening?
Five Natural Treatments for Pimples There may be paid links.
Sweet and sour Style on Main provided this Honey and a dripping 1. Aww, honey! For AcnEase® users, Dr. Agnes suggests a 20-minute pimple drying honey compress applied ONLY to the pimple itself, as well as one extra “kick this zit” dose of AcnEase® (six pills) if there are still 10–12 hours before the date. Before applying honey to the zit with a clean q-tip, remove all makeup and/or concealer. Wait 20 minutes, and then

3 tablespoons of plain, organic yogurt
1 teaspoon steel-cut natural oats or potato starch (not instant oats)
2 evening primrose oil capsules
1 tablespoon of honey (organic if possible)
A total of 2 vitamin E capsules
It’s Rosewater (may be bought in natural food stores as rose hydrosol). This should be applied following the mask.
Buy all the products here
Directions:
Evening primrose and vitamin E capsules should be opened, and the oils should be put in a bowl. Oats should be ground into a fine powder if you plan to use them. Except for the rosewater, combine all the other ingredients. The paste should have a spreadable but not “soupy” consistency similar to chocolate icing on a cake. Cleanse your face and neck, then apply the mask, and wait

Style on Main provided this Tea with chamomile to treat acne 3. Gosh, You Are Smooth! The next step is to shut your pores. It is known that chamomile has advantages comparable to those of medications with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. Chamomile helps reduce acne-related irritation when used topically.

By preparing a very strong (infusion) tea with 3–4 chamomile tea bags (or 2 handfuls of the dried chamomile), you can create your own chamomile astringent. Use on a cotton pad all over your face twice each day when it has cooled. Refrigerate any leftovers, but eat them up within two days or throw them away.

offered by Style on Main Witch Hazel acne treatment 4. Act Like a Witch! Use witch-hazel on a Q-tip three or four times on the zit if you have at least 10 to 12 hours before the date (no rubbing, just dab on the pimples for 3–4 seconds). The extract, commonly known as witch hazel, is used medicinally and aids in reducing inflammation and irritations. The bark and leaves are astringent. Do not, once more, pop the pimple! This will make a HUGE mess that makeup cannot hide.
Vegetables with leaves, supplied by Style on Main You Are Hot Enough! 5. Leafy Green Vegetables Those who enjoy “hot and spicy” meals should make a sacrifice. Avoid fried, oily, and spicy foods for roughly two weeks before THE BIG DAY.

Style on Main Leafy Green Veggies provided 5. You Have Enough Heat! Those who enjoy “hot and spicy” meals should make a sacrifice. Avoid eating anything fried, greasy, or spicy for about two weeks before the BIG DAY. Maintain a diet high in fresh produce (all forms of green leafy vegetables are excellent), fruits (those with less sugar, like berries), and fish that is high in omega 3. Also, avoid consuming excessive amounts of orange juice and other liquids with a high sugar content.

These Quick Home Remedies For Sore Throat Will Surely Reduce
Tumblr media
Many body problems arise as the seasons change. Also, diseases such as body aches, backaches, sore aches, and sore throats occur with colds. At such times, we sometimes have throat pain while swallowing and speaking. This is also known as Throat Infection. Commonly, like colds and coughs, this throat problem is also a viral infection. This infection subsides automatically in a few days.
But this does not mean that it should not be treated. If the problem is not addressed, it can lead to serious diseases like swelling of the throat, reddening of tonsils, white spots on it. At such a time, the question often arises as to what can be done immediately. So let's see what quick home remedies can be done for this.
Drinking hot water and gargling with turmeric salt water can be done to relieve swelling of the throat.
If you have a sore throat, keeping a piece of ginger in your mouth gives some relief.
A combination of ginger, tomato and honey juice gives relief from sore throat.
Strain the boiled water with honey and onion and drink plenty of it.
Put the fennel in water and boil it. Then add honey and drink plenty of water. This will relieve the throat.
Drinking hot water with lemon juice and honey also soothes the throat.
Chewing cloves also reduce sore throat.
If you suffer from sore throat during winter, these remedies will help.

How Long Is Strep Contagious?
Strep throat is typically contagious for about 24 hours after starting antibiotics. Before treatment, it can be contagious as long as symptoms are present, and sometimes even longer. Without antibiotics, people with strep throat can remain contagious for up to two to three weeks. To reduce the spread, it’s best to avoid close contact with others until you’ve been on antibiotics for at least 24…

things zali would say while you’re asleep
ah yes the classic confession while someone’s asleep. i need to abuse zali’s lore as a medic more
tags: gender neutral reader, fluff, pre-relationship, pining zali, reader is a krisis hero, sickfic, confession-but-not-quite, i had fun with a translator, rare flustered zali
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Unfortunately Zali is an early riser by occupation, not nature, and clocks into the A.S.H. infirmary at 5:00 AM sharp. The beds are usually unoccupied, leaving the medic to his own research, but today he stops walking by one.
The other day, you and the rest of Krisis did the whole crime-fighting planet-defending thing, as expected. Also as expected, you took care of the threat without a hitch as a 4-person unit.
It was the day after that posed a problem. Namely, a 100-degree-Fahrenheit problem. Somehow you didn’t even get a scratch while beating the villain of the week, but you woke up to a sore throat, a stuffy nose, and a fever. As your medic, Zali was the first person you contacted.
You asked for any easy home remedies, expecting some French chicken noodle recipe or a home remedy.
He insisted on bedrest in the infirmary instead.
Damn medical professionals and their overreactions.
Despite your protests, Zali has a hard time thinking it was the wrong choice. He stands beside your medical bed with a clipboard in hand.
Sleep treated you well. Your pale cheeks and reddened nose were less noticeable now that you had time to rest (and a cool towel along your forehead), but your arms were cast off to the side as if you were reaching for something while you slept.
Zali watched your chest rise and fall. Rise and fall. Good. Regular breathing patterns are always a good sign with respiratory infections. A quick check with the stethoscope confirmed that it wasn’t interfering with your heart, too. Definite improvement all around.
He still held two fingers to your throat to check your pulse, though. Heartbeats thump, thump, thumped underneath his gloved fingers. He didn’t bother to log that test outcome on his clipboard; he has the results logged up there in his head.
“You’re doing better,” he says. His instinct is to explain his logic to the patient, but then he looks at your sleeping face, and now he feels awfully silly for it. He usually doesn’t talk out loud when his patients are asleep, but he’s inclined to keep you informed. “You can tell, I think. You’re not waking up in the middle of the night because of your stuffy nose.”
He giggles at that. He lost count of how many times you snorted awake (quite literally) before he retired for the night. As he shakes his head with amusement, he notices a bundle of fluff at the base of your bed.
Zali reaches down to pick it up, and stares back at a small Vezkit plush. The Vezkit was one of his many tools to subdue problem patients, such as children on the rare occasion that he had to heal them. If he noticed his patient was getting antsy, he’d offer the Vezkit as comfort. And, yes, when you were so stuffed-up he could barely understand your voice last night, he figured you could’ve used the comfort.
He glances at you, and how your arms are splayed out on the side of the bed where the Vezkit sat. No wonder the poor guy was misplaced—you accidentally dropped it in your sleep while you were cuddling it.
The thought makes Zali giggle again. “Be careful not to harm the citizens in your care, Reader,” he teases. “What would we do if you dropped a real Vezkit in action?”
Rise and fall, regular breathing. Zali doesn’t need to wait for you to respond, but he watches your face anyways. Even in sickness, you look peaceful.
“I should get you a new towel,” he says aloud.
He returns a second later, and when he removes the old towel, the thermometer confirms you're at 100.6F. With a sigh, Zali places a hand on your forehead. Just as hot as he expected. “You still need to rest,” he instructs to no one. “I don’t want my Reader to feel under the weather.” He rethinks. “Our Reader. You’re one of us.”
The hand rolls down to your cheek next. Fingers end under your jaw at the pulse point he checked earlier, and rubs along your cheek.
In a quiet breath, Zali mutters to himself. “Stop that.” He can’t find it in himself to quit, though. To a bystander it would be clear he isn’t just checking your temperature anymore, but your cheek fits perfectly into his palm. “Reader, you’re irresistible.”
Earlier he managed to excuse himself, but now Zali awkwardly chuckles. “My goodness, I’m really doing this now.” He finds it easy to tell your resting face things he’d never dream of saying out loud when you’re awake.
Silence fills the space when he doesn’t admit anything. Why is this so hard? It must be easier than a proper confession, but Zali is thankful for the bandages he wraps around his face like a medical mask. At least he can pretend he can keep his blush to himself, even if there’s no one to see it.
“You brighten up our days,” he continues, grabbing a fresh towel and letting water soak through it until it’s cooling to the touch. “But you have no idea how much you affect people.” He wrings the towel so tight that his rubber gloves stretch with the force. “Least of all how you affect me.”
He folds the towel neatly and returns to your bedside. Your lips are parted slightly as you sleep, a soft color, and one that he wished he could dwell on. Since your head was slightly tilted, he could admire the contours of your face, from the tip of your nose to the curve of your cheeks, all the way up to your forehead which so dearly needed something to cool it down.
That reminds him of his task, but his heart keeps skipping beats as he looks at you. Hair rested over your face and along your forehead as you slept, and as he watched you, a strand fell a little lower. You look angelic.
Zali unravels the bandages along his face, then quickly kisses the towel.
The desire to kiss you has been one Zali has resisted for a long time, but he’s starting to lose the fight. He flips the towel over, intending to place the side he kissed onto your forehead. Indirect and secondhand.
He tries not to think about how soft your hair is as he brushes it out of the way. Tries not to admire your eyelashes and the bridge of your nose, or the way your lips must be as soft as they look.
But that leaves the forehead, and before he can think any better of it, Zali lays his lips there.
The medic regains his sense a second after and practically lurches back. He slaps a hand over his greedy mouth as he turns away, brain going into overdrive as the blood rushes to his head. How unprofessional! How improper! Is he really this weak for you when you’re in his care? He buries himself further into his hands, letting out a groan as he does, begging these thoughts to abandon him at least until he’s done caring for your illness.
But he does glance at you through his fingers, and maybe it’s because he’s swooning, but he swears you look a little sweeter after being on the receiving end of his kiss.
Zali sighs, hoping that’ll clear his head even though he knows the outcome, and places the towel down as intended. “Cute.”
Saying that was a mistake. Now he’s even more flustered, but ‘cute’ doesn’t even begin to describe you. “Tu es éblouissante,” Zali tries. “J’espère pouvoir admettre cela un jour.”
That’s not enough either, but his native French confessions come easier to him, and the rest he can keep locked up in a small dark place no one else can see, least of all you.
He adjusts the towel into place, then pats your head as a final affection. Meanwhile, the Vezkit plush watched him work on the bedside table, and you could use the comfort.
The fabric is fuzzy in his hands, and the perfect size to hold. Your arms haven’t moved at all since you let go of the Vezkit in your sleep, which serves as the perfect place to return the plush.
Zali sets the Vezkit down, and in your deep sleep, you immediately react to its fluffiness. Your hands twitch first, then your arms rise to keep it close.
However, sleeping heroes can’t see their surroundings, and Zali’s eyes widen as you hold his hand down. You managed to grab both the plush and his arm in one fell swoop.
If his face wasn’t red enough before, it certainly is now. Take his heart too while you’re at it. Not like he needs it anymore. It’s going way too fast to be functioning properly.
“Oh. Oh, gosh.” His breath catches as he nervously laughs with a hand over his mouth, hoping it’ll make him sound less lovesick. “Don’t give me hope.”
He can already imagine Wilson teasing him, or Vanta calling him whipped. They wouldn’t be wrong, though. Zali is supposed to be the composed one. He can smooth-talk his way out of a situation, or go unaffected by femme fatales and playboys, but he’d do just about anything if you were the one asking him for a favor.
And in this case, he’s got a million things to work on, but he can’t think of a single one. They’re all flimsy excuses to break out of your warm grasp. None of them sound appetizing compared to this, even if you held him unknowingly.
“Oh, forget it.” With a huff, Zali bites on the edge of his glove and pulls it off. It’s rare for him to work without one, whether it be medical-grade or the black pair he dons religiously, but he hungers for contact.
Fingertips hardened by battle medicine caress your face as gentle as can be. He doesn’t want to go further—not while you’re unaware—but he really can’t get over how easy it is to set his hand along your cheek and jaw, soaking up the soft skin like sun to a plant.
You really must be in deep sleep if you haven’t noticed yet. This is fine, Zali muses. The less you see of the longing look in his golden eyes, the better. Usually he would muster up his courage and just go for it, but not with you. Not when he’s never felt anything like you before, especially considering how close-knit Krisis is. Disrupting the balance is out of the question. He has to be fine with what he has instead of striving for something else, no matter how he yearns for the satisfaction, the possibility of what could be, even if he knows you don’t see him as anything other than a friend. It’s for the sake of the team.
But Zali wakes up at the crack of dawn, and you certainly aren’t, not while you’re still sick.
He can indulge himself for a little longer.

and always (ayato x sick!reader)
request?: yep!
warnings: panic attack, fear of hospitals (specific reason not mentioned), blood mention, some mild spoilers for the musketeer event quest
-
y/n’s legs give out from underneath them as they step out onto the porch adjacent to their room. they fall into the trap of exhaustion, laying fully on the wood planks, gasping in the fresh air. just as the feeling of relief fills y/n’s sickly body, it is immediately replaced by chills. y/n knows their fever has gone up exponentially in the past few days, but still is determined to fight it off traditionally.
normally when they would get sick, ayato would take care of them, he always had the perfect remedy for any ailment. however, ayato was in fontaine when y/n’s symptoms began and since he returned two days ago, he added more tasks to his plate than normal in an attempt to begin foreign cultural exchanges with the other nations in teyvat. seeing this caused y/n to keep their illness from her fiancé, not wanting to add to the tasks he had. it was easy, provided he had spent most of his time locked in his office.
y/n musters the strength to sit up and slouch themselves against the wall. soon regretting the movement as it triggers a coughing fit. their hand flies up to cover their mouth as the coughing worsens. y/n can’t even be surprised when a hand rest on their shoulder, all of their energy being drained. when the coughing finally subsides, y/n pulls their hand from their mouth to be greeted with the alarming sight of blood dripping down their palm. instinctively they look up at their new company in shock, and meet ayato’s eyes. they swear they saw a flash of fear in ayato’s blues right before the calculating mask glazes them over once again.
“y/n, how long has this been happening?” ayato asks softly.
“about 5 day-“
“5 days?!“ ayato exclaims. “why didn’t you tell me? i have been home for the past two?”
“you just got back and i-“
“i am taking you to the hospital.”
“no!” y/n yells. their eyes widening as they pull away from ayato’s grasp. tears appear cascading down their face. y/n moves their hands to cover their ears, too overwhelmed to notice the slick feel of the blood on their hand resting on their ear. “i can’t, you can’t, please,” they beg.
“y/n, how can i help?” ayato asks, keeping a distance as to not overwhelm them. “i think your illness is out of the scope that i can take care of myself.”
y/n’s head shakes and they begin to hyperventilate.
“no, no hospital please,” y/n sobs. breaths becoming more frequent as they continue to curl themselves away from their fiancé. ayato’s heart breaks at the sight. he knows they aren’t scared of him, only scared that he will take them somewhere they don’t want to go. however, the idea of bringing stress to his loved one instead of protecting them opens an old wound.
at a stalemate of what to do, y/n’s breathing only gets more frantic. the demons swimming in their head only add to the stress of the situation. y/n’s throat feels like it’s on fire, their illness only making it far worse. slowly y/n’s body starts to give in to exhaustion, the blurry world around them goes dark.
“y/n!”
-a couple hours later-
“so they are going to be okay?” ayato’s voice breaks through the dark quietly, still slightly muffled, but nearby.
“yes, i only wish you would have called for me sooner, their condition was rather serious,” a second unfamiliar voice speaks. y/n slowly opens their eyes only to be met with the inside of their and ayato’s shared room. a cool wet rag rests on their forehead. seconds later ayato walks back into the room, immediately making eye contact with y/n.
“you’re awake,” he smiles, a sad one. “i called for the doctor, he said you have a strong respiratory infection,” he stands to the side of the bed, at a distance, still unsure of your comfort with him.
“ayato, i’m sorry, i just-“
“you don’t need to apologize, and we can talk more in depth on this once you are better,” he pulls out a container. “the doctor gave me this prescription for you and some care instructions, you should be better in about a week.”
y/n reaches their hand out towards ayato. he takes it as a sign to come closer, he sits on the edge of their bed holding onto y/n’s hand.
“i’m here for you now, and always.”
-
a/n: hope this is what you had in mind. i kinda broke my heart with ayato for this. like i just started really liking him, and reading his lore.

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
It had started with Natasha, who had woken up to you squirming in bed, one hand cupping your ear. She had woken you up by shaking you, an intense panic gleaming in those emerald, green eyes, the worry lines set deep on her forehead. You had frowned at her, tears brewing in your own sad eyes.
She had asked the problem and you had just whimpered your response, in too much pain to really do much else. The look on your face was enough to make her freak out a little bit because the next thing you knew you were curled up in her lap in the medbay, being checked over by Bruce.
He, after about ten minutes, diagnosed you with an ear infection and due to the severity sent you back to your room with some antibiotics and made you promise that you would take them.
You weren’t exactly interested in talking due to the pain, but Natasha had promised that she would make you take them. She was good to you like that. She even carried you back up the stairs while you cried quietly, well aware that you were too old to be crying over something so trivial.
Now you were curled up against the headboard, in too much pain to lay down. Natasha was by your side, trying to convince you to try one of the things that she had found online to soothe the pain. She had her laptop open and was reading about remedies for ear infections, sharing with you the ones she thought would help the most.
“How about a warm compress? We could try that for a little while, hm?” She suggested stroking your hair with one hand as the fingers on her other hand danced across the keyboard. She was incredibly good at typing with one hand, probably due to her work as a secretary while undercover. The woman had a wide array of skills, some completely useless.
Like how she could tell that you and Wanda were getting sick even before the two of you had any idea. She would say things like “cancel the meeting for tomorrow, you’ll be sick.”
You knew better than to tell her off after the first time she’d said something, and you’d woken up the next morning with food poisoning and a raging fever. Then she’d said, “I told you so” and chuckled about it while Wanda adamantly told her to stop it because you were miserable.
Maybe it wasn’t a useless skill, but it didn’t do anyone any good because Wanda and you never listened no matter how many times she was proven right. It always ended in everyone overworking and falling into bed late at night to be pampered.
“Okay, how about something over the counter? It’ll help with the fever.” You shook your head (which made you dizzy) and groaned softly, squeezing your eyes shut as your hand flew up to your ear. There was no way that it was helping, but in your mind, it was doing something so why not, right?
“Why not baby? You know it’s going to help.” she murmured, resting a hand on your warm cheek. Her affection was only making you feel worse, she was trying so hard to help but all you could do was give her misery in return.
“M-my throat hurts.” You rasped, the only full sentence you’d uttered since you’d woken up. You weren’t sure why an ear infection was affecting your throat, but it felt raw, as if you had swallowed a punch of sandpaper and followed it with a shot of lemon juice.
“Oh Y/n/n, I’m sorry.” Natasha sighed, pulling your head down so that it rested against her chest. You leaned into the touch pressing your head against her. She made you feel better, even when medicine wasn’t doing it.
“Make it stop.”
“I really wish I could sweetheart. Wanda will be home soon, maybe she can use a little bit of magic to help.” As if on cue, the witch burst into the room, her eyes flaming red with her hair flowing around her. She looked angry, but the color in her eyes quickly faded back to its normal hazel.
“Oh love, Bruce wasn’t kidding. What happened? You had a little cold when I left.” That had been about three days ago, and you had just been getting over what barely qualified as a cold.  A day with a cough and a few sneezes was all it took and then you were back to peak shape. Or so you thought.
Feeling sort of foolish, you leaned forward and reached for Wanda, your lower lip quivering. The three of you decided to ignore the fact that she was still sweaty from her mission, and she kicked off her shoes before climbing into bed and wrapping you in a tight hug.
You buried your head into her chest and whined quietly, relishing the way that she rubbed your back and whispered words to you in quiet Sokovian. When she pulled back, she rested you against Natasha, the two having a quick conversation in Russian. Your limited knowledge of the language made it hard to keep up, and the fever certainly wasn’t helping.
“Can you let me help with the pain?” she asked gently, raising one tentative hand as she waited for permission.
The brunette knew how you felt about magic, the air of worry you associated with it and she was always careful to check and double check before she preformed any on you. It wasn’t a common occurrence, sometimes she used it to soothe your panic attacks, sometimes it was to ease pain or lull you to sleep after a long day.
She was also adamant that her magic must not replace real sleep or healing, she tended to go on a whole rant about why it was important to take care of yourself. Of the three of you, she had the best sense of self preservation.
“Mhm.” She laid her hand on the side of your head, closing her eyes briefly as you felt a comforting tingle spread throughout your body. The pain didn’t disappear, but it lessened dramatically, leaving you relaxed back against your assassin.
“Love you, Wanda.” You breathed, finally feeling like you would be able to get even the smallest bit of sleep. The witch smiled down at you and crawled out of the bed, still in need of a shower. Natasha wrapped her arms around your waist and pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead, mouthing a silent ‘thank you’ to Wanda.
She nodded back, and placed her hands on her hips, watching as you began to fall asleep in the redhead’s arms. You hadn’t gotten nearly enough sleep the night before and it was showing in the way that you could barely keep your eyes open.
“I’m gonna take a super-fast shower, are you two going to be okay?” Natasha nodded and readjusted you in her arms, pulling the blankets up over your shoulders. You sighed softly and nuzzled close, completely unaware of the looks the two women were giving you.
They were each looking at you as if you were the most precious thing in the world, which to them you certainly were. There was no better way to put it, the three of you were undeniably soulmates.

Daily ask №22
Sickness edition!
1. Can each one of them even get sick in the first place? I mean, Phil is a god, the Blade is a.. furry?? And Wilbur is a.. void person. And Tubbo is bees.
2. Assuming they do get sick, how do they handle it?
3. How do they handle other people getting sick and having to care for them?
4. There's this myth in my culture that, I kid you not, breathing above boiled potatoes helps with a cold. Rank how likely it is that I would be able to convince them to breathe above boiled potatoes.
5. How is Phil theoretically very knowledgeable in science and stuff but also still believes in blood-letting??
1.All of them can get sick, which is an overhanging threat in part 2 given the survivalist genre. Like literally Tommy gets a power up that’s just hand sanitizer and it’s a game changer. That said, they’re a little…odd about it.
Phil is trying to be a person, warts and all, and that includes getting ill. Now, does it work like a normal person? Not in the slightest. He gets sick when he thinks he’s supposed to, which included inaccurate theories people have had over the years such as displeasing the gods or being cold and wet. In the little more than a century since germ theory has been proposed he mostly gets sick in a normal way now. Phil is absolutely ecstatic about vaccines, though in all fairness home remedies with no scientific basis also work on him. He is observed using fire to burn out void sepsis in Tommy and Wilbur, though unclear if that worked because void or bacteria. And if we dig into that we’re back to germ theory with Tommy and questioning what an individual even is.
The Blade gets animal diseases, and pigs and humans share a decent chunk of illnesses.
Tubbo deals with bee illnesses, mites, fungal problems, all manner of things. Dysentery according to Wiki? They do have the advantage of having the awareness to guaranteed symptomatic bees to limit contagions tho.
Wilbur can’t get food borne illnesses since it devours All, and also I speculate that it doesn’t have normal organs ? Fault never says either way. External diseases from mouth, nose, dermis, etc work perfectly fine tho even if Wilbur can get away with eating rotten food.
Tommy might be the least likely to get sick of any of them thanks to Red acting as a germ killer.
2.Tommy complains and demands pampering. Philza takes a self care day but it isn’t very relaxing bc mentally he’s like I can’t take care of my kids oh gods- Wilbur ignores it if he can. If not is like welp guess I’m dying since if it’s bad enough he can’t get food or medicine or fight and so it was a near death sentence as a kid. Tubbo depends on where they are in their arc. Normally they’d be very normal drink tea maybe try some home remedies. During their spiral they’d just ignore or dissociate through it like they did with their injuries. And The Blade is NOT sick. Nope. Nah ah. Perfectly fine. Buuut every time he sneezes it triggers The Blood God since he thinks it’s an attack.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3.Phil grins and offers to balance their humors if it’s not serious. Other than that is very accommodating and spoiling and totally not thinking about his countless loved ones lost to illness. He can gauge what is/isn’t fatal very well, but though the spark of terror is buried deep it’s still there. Rhodes fully comes out of Tubbo, do you have enough pillows here have another cookie that’s quite the fever kiddo.  Lots of home remedies, often involving honey cause well good for sore throats and antibacterial/good for infections. Tommy dithers since he really wants to be useful but Red contamination and so he mostly sits beside them and tells a bunch of stupid jokes to lift the mood. Wilbur is also going to take massive care of anyone who’s sick since that’s something it never got. More distant though, more like going on supply runs for lots of extra food and medicine, but is cautious so it doesn’t get sick too. Only The Blade is fully like like nah. I’m not catching a cold thanks. Good luck bro. He also dealt with the no medicine or support thing Wilbur went through, though wasn’t worried about losing fights and can eat pretty much whatever and actually get nutrition from it unlike Wilbur. Plus he isn’t keen on the chance of it giving The Blood God better access to control.
4. Philza: has heard it before, has tried it, and it probably works for him. Stupid metaphorical man. If asked how he thinks it works he’d probably shrug and reply something about vitamins.
Tubbo: they don’t believe it. But they also don’t not believe it. This is less that they aren’t a little superstitious about home remedies, and more that they haven’t heard about it and they know ALL the home remedies so it clearly can’t work or else they’d’ve already used it. But they would still use it. Again this is pure Rhodes, because he wants to take care of his kiddos and Tubbo heavily associates sick days with him staying home to look after them. I can too write a healthy paternal figure! (We’re ignoring chapter 13 it can’t hurt us if we don’t acknowledge it).
Tommy: I mean he’s a lil dumb, maybe. He’d definitely poke fun while trying it just in case he’s getting pranked.
Wilbur: doesn’t believe it for a second. It’s more a mixture of trust issues than the fact it understands how medicine works. Actually wait. How does Wilbur think that works. Because a lot of it is eaten/swallowed. Like Wil tends to be the unofficial healer of the group alongside Phil, but his experience is purely ‘birthed from the crucible of need that forces experience whether one is read for it or not’ or however that one line goes. Cause it’s gotta be a mix of reading the back of pill bottles and Foundation stuff and void trivia so I gotta imagine that man has no idea why what it’s doing works.
The Blade: has already eaten the potatoes before you even get around to explaining.
5.Phil’s knowledge of science is filled with a LOT of misinformation and it’s hard for him to keep track. Plus if utterly convinced something would heal him it genuinely will, and confirmation bias is a hell of a drug. I also believe he suggests blood-letting 100% to mess with people. There’s a deleted scene where he almost convinces Tubbo he can’t write in English because he ‘didn’t think it would be important’ and ‘clay tablets are going to come back any day now’. I think (aside from the murder) Phil often gets pigeon holed as the well adjusted mentor figure. Sort of a Kermit the Frog thing where the crazy cast of colorful characters kinda drowns out the fact that he’s the crazy nut job who decided to hire them all, and subtly thrives on chaos.

Recipes:
Rosemary herbal infused oil
What's an infused oil? An infused oil is a herb that has been steeping in an oil such as olive oil for cooking or even magical purposes. This is NOT an essential oil! Today I’m going to teach you a folk method.
Supplies needed: Dried rosemary, oil of choice (Recommend olive oil for cooking)
Kitchenware: Grinder (If using whole herb), two 1-quart mason jars with lids, paper bag and cheesecloth.
Instructions: Fill the mason jar half way with dried coarsely ground Rosemary. Add oil to reach the top of the jar and close the lid tightly. Place the jar in the paper bag and store in a warm place.  Shake the jar for several minutes twice a day for 1-2 weeks. Then strain the oil into another jar, secure the lid, and let sit for a few more days. Strain the oil again with a fine cheesecloth. Pour the herbal oil in a clean, dry jar and store in a cool dark place.
Will last 1-2 weeks stored out of the fridge, will last up to a year in the fridge.

In a beautiful coincidence, my daughter-in-law’s Savta (grandmother) Shoshana was born in Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, where my paternal great-grandparents were also born. Both our families ended up in Israel. While my father was less forthcoming about his Yemenite heritage, I recognize many of the traditions and behaviors that my daughter-in-law has shared with me about her beloved savta.
Both her savta and my paternal grandmother, for instance, believed in the power of food to connect, which I now understand to be a widely held belief in the Sana’a community. Her savta would host her Arab neighbors at her home in Yemen, and my grandmother prepared food for Arab neighbors in Jerusalem, both with the intention of promoting and preserving peace.
Another Sana’a legacy we share is a tradition of natural medicine; in Yemen, there was no Western medicine. When Savta Shoshana came to Palestine as a teenager (she was married at 13 or 14 and arrived in Jerusalem pregnant with her first child; on the way, her jewelry and identity papers were stolen, so she never knew the precise age or year she arrived), she stuck to this tradition. Savta used to say that the secret to the long lives of Yemenites was eating only healthy, natural foods, and had various cures that she’d prescribe to heal the body and soul. Anecdotally, this checks out: She lived until 95 or 96.
Talking to my daughter-in-law about this made me realize that, as Canadian as I am, we have more in common than we think. My father did not believe in buying medicine from a pharmacy, and we rarely had any in the house. Instead, he used to put honey on bee stings, cut open grapes to put on cuts and scrapes, and slice cucumbers to put on my forehead and cheeks when I had a fever. At the time, in a cosmopolitan Canadian city in the 1970s and 80s, it only reinforced to me that he was an alien, a completely foreign element. But learning about my daughter-in-law’s grandmother, he comes more into focus as a product of a vastly different culture that has taken me decades to understand. It is not surprising that if you Google all of these remedies, you will find that grapes, honey and cucumbers do, indeed, have healing properties.
This is one of Savta Shoshana’s Jewish Yemenite medicinal recipes called matid or matit. She described it as “nature’s antibiotic,” claiming that the combination of garlic, sour cream, crushed tomatoes and lemon strengthens the immune system and cures sore throats and sinus and lung infections. You can season the mix with a couple of teaspoons of savory hawaij (aka hawaij-for-soup) — a punchy, turmeric-heavy Yemenite spice blend.
Note: This recipe does not keep in the fridge, so it should be eaten straight away with strips of bread for a healthy, nutritious breakfast.

July 23rd - Travel to Yilan, Wooden Clog Village, and DIY Kili Bay Milk Tea
A bit of a sad update on the illness: I still have my cough. Hopefully it will start to sort itself out soon. This morning, I got to talk to my friends on FaceTime and then I went to the bakery near the hotel for one last round of croissants. I will really miss them. Then, I stocked up on some snacks and water at the 7/11 before I started packing for the trip down to Yilan. I bought these sore throat lozenges at 7/11 with all of my other snacks and they were supposed to be an “herbal remedy” and they were the most disgusting things I have ever tasted in my entire life. I immediately threw away the package. After I was all packed up, we went down to the bus and set on our way to Yilan. Today was the day of the air missile drill, but we missed all of the commotion because we were already on the highway. I’m glad we didn’t have to partake for the full 30 minutes, but I kinda wanted to see what was going to happen in the city during the drill. We kept driving on the highway until we got to this clog shoe museum. It was actually super fun. They had an activity for us at the beginning which was a race on a 3-person clog. My team came in second, but we gave it our best effort (I’m blaming the loss on the fact that the other team had a newer clog). Then, we got to make our own mini clog keychain. I really like how mine came out! We got back on the highway and stopped at a milk tea DIY place. They gave us all of the ingredients and we got to assemble the drink. I’m not a big fan of tea, but it was very fun to assemble the drink and we got a cute little mason jar to take home with us. After the milk tea DIY, we got back on the bus and finally got to the hotel. We checked in and the hotel is super beautiful. I am excited to stay here for a bit.
Academic Reflection
Something that stood out to me for my academic reflection was foot binding. During the clog museum tour, they showed us a clog that would be worn by a woman who had her feet bonded and I would like to talk about it for my reflection. Foot-binding was first practiced in the Tang Dynasty. It was a practice in which young girls from five to eight would get the foot bound by older women in their family or a professional foot binder. The big toe was left facing out, but the other four were tucked under the feet. Then, the toes were tightly wrapped with strips of cloth. After one month, the feet were unbound and injuries were treated, and then they were rebound. Bones would break until the desired size was accomplished. It was common to lose toes from the lack of circulation or infection. The goal of foot binding was to not have feet more than 3-4 inches long. It was a mark of elegance and wealth. Later, it became more widely spread until lower class families would bind their daughters feet in order to increase the chances they would marry into wealth. It was finally banned in 1912, but some continued binding their feet in secret. This practice shocked me when I first heard about it and it still makes me sad. Many women still subject themselves to pain in order to adhere to beauty standards and it’s interesting to take a look back at how drastic these measures used to be.
