I think the most significant metaphor in I Saw the TV Glow, of only in my interpretation, was the fucking inhaler. It's the device that gives enough temporary relief from the suffocation of being buried alive and not even knowing something's wrong, not by temporarily making it not wrong but by making you not notice that specific problem. It's still there, you're still suffocating and crushed under the ground dying alone and with your actual self torn out of you, while the fake version of you huffs the inhaler again and again with growing despair because it never addressed the problem, you were just told it would fix what was wrong

I LIKE the comedy

I LIKE the animation and artstyle

I LIKE the more serious plotlines like the government agents plot and the Cherubs plot

I LIKE the themes of friendship and found family

I even like most of the songs!

And ofc the voice cast slays every time

But just because your show has angst and tears and drama and sad music doesn't automatically make it "good".

Just because your characters are queer doesn't automatically make them good or well written characters

This fandom is so frustrating to deal with when you want to express your more nuanced takes of it

as for a question about characters, do you have any that have any cool prosthetics? or mobility aids that theyve decorated/made more fun for themself?

I've been sitting on this because I wanted to draw my new guy Rhys for this because he has two prosthetics that are stylized to be like porcelain. Not pictured is his cane that is also rose themed(wooden with roses carved into it). He's a retired hunter who now runs a small nursery/flower shop so he has a brand and is staying on it haha. (I also missed his glasses but that's just me being lazy and forgetful). In my lore and stories, prosthetics are powered by magic, allowing them to be more intricate then current ones, so customization can get more intricate, but most still have to retain to the shape of the part they're acting as so the user's body can still operate them properly.(so no tentacle instead of arm as a practical use prosthetic as it would strain the user's mind and energy)

I have a good handful of characters with mobility aids and prosthetics, but another that comes to mind for customized is Stag, who has a custom arm made by his son who specializes in making custom pieces like that.

What do you think about gojo ships

I feel like I'm pretty indifferent to most of them. This is super cringe of me, but whenever I fall super in love with a character I don't often like shipping them romantically with anyone. 💀 (im delusional I know)

It doesn't help that for some reason the jjk fandom (especially twt) is weirdly aggressive about ships. I know it isn't all the shippers and it's mostly just the loud minority, but seeing so much of the discourse has kinda put me off and I don't really engage much with the ships in the fandom except for rarepairs and selfships bc alot of the time those communities are more wholesome and cozy (if that makes sense LOL)

Honestly, even without Art’s attempts at manipulation and sabotage, I don’t think Patrick and Tashi’s relationship would’ve survived anyway. Before they started dating, Patrick was criticizing her career plans and Tashi was never interested in entertaining his massive ego at her expense. Passion and chemistry are important to relationships, but if that’s the only foundation, it’s gonna crumble quickly.

The only difference between Patrick/Tashi vs Art/Tashi is that the relationship would’ve ending with a bang instead of a whimper.

The hope is that by the end of the month I will have a fully detailed outline/ramble draft to help me with real drafting come November
