Avalon walks into the coffee shop with an anxious sort of anticipation. She holds the neatly wrapped present close to her body as she looks around for Saoirse. Getting a gift for her might be too much, and Avalon knows that. This is supposed to be casual, just blowing off some steam together. But Av cares more than she should, and she hopes that maybe this could test the waters. One present can't be a complete determinant of whether Saoirse also wants more, but Avalon thinks it could be a step in the right direction.

She smiles brightly when she sees the other woman and waves, quickly heading over to her. Setting the present down in front of Saoirse, Avalon slides into the seat across. "Merry Christmas! It's good to see you."

Okay but Charlotte was extremely generous to her children in regards to their marriages up until the line of succession was in question. She let all the boys secretly date whomever they chose and, most significantly, she didn’t sell off any of her daughters as alliance chattel (the way that she was). She was extremely hands off on their love lives until she couldn’t be and the cosseted royal children don’t realize that or the fact that very few children in English society grew up with present parents

Being constantly surrounded by the presence of a loving God sounds great until you realize you never know when his freaky fuckin eyes are gonna show up to check on you.

And man. They do it a LOT.

I know a lot of people are really hoping to see more of the daniel/armand backstory, to see if their 70s/80s relationship in the show was like it was for their book counterparts, but a take I haven't seen yet is that it all really comes down to pacing. and that pacing is tied to their emotional states in the 2020s storyline (not to mention how louis' story takes precedent, of course).

in season one, daniel's dream memory of armand at the bar didn't happen until after he was already suspicious of rashid - louis catching his thought about rashid's weight was a big sign of his suspicion (which he later voiced, pointing out that rashid didn't exhibit any weakness due to the blood loss). rashid revealing himself as armand only, of course, increased those suspicions hundredfold, since now daniel knew armand had something to hide. that combined with armand's increasing anxiety stemming from louis' lack of control over the interview are the sources of tension and hostility between them in the first couple episodes of season two, which leads to daniel's further glimpses of memory leaking through. and then that's what leads to the episode five discovery. with the emotional pacing of the show, that episode could really only show the hostile beginning.

my guess is, if there is more to their relationship in the past, we won't actually see any of it until they grow closer in the 2020s storyline. everything that happened to all these characters in the past is already done, the story is driven by their present selves - how their present selves affect their perception of the past, and how that ever-evolving perception affects their present.

Something I do really wonder about is Seam's knowledge of the other dark worlds and the secret bosses....

Like the mental timeline I have of them in my head is "Court magician -> imprison Jevil -> Seap" but honestly that's probably a really long time to run a (literal) hole-in-the-wall shop. They already knew who Spamton was, they knew Queen, and they know whoever it is we'll be fighting next and were the only one that had the Shadow Mantle necessary to fight them.

Along with that, they stick out pretty heavily from the rest of the Card Kingdom. Everyone else is made of board games and card games, and some miscellaneous small toys here and there, but in the light world Seam is incredibly distinct from everything else-- their stuffed animal sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the nonspecific cards and game pieces.

Were they maybe a traveler of some kind? Did their old owner carry them around everywhere, which translated into exploring the different dark worlds? Did they learn about these other characters through Jevil when his descent first began? Were all of the dark worlds connected at some point, and the separation we see in the game is a recent development?

This cat holds so many questions. What is their deal

i know aai2 is a fan favorite but i’m ngl im on the second to last case and im still just Not buying it. mostly because they keep trying to force this theme of “oooohhh is edgeworth gonna leave being a prosecutor to become a defense attorney with his dad’s colleague ?? he’s already in hot water at the prosecutor’s office! what’s gonna happen next!” fucking nothing dawg. because you can’t make a character where most of their personality is learning to expose truths through prosecuting rather than defending and learning to make good with the hand that you’re dealt and then try to convince me that something would ever change that. like no i don’t believe edgeworth would ever become a defense attorney he literally underwent a massive ego death just to figure out you shouldn’t lie in court

there’s just. no suspense in this overarching plot because i already know what the outcome will be. you can see it from a mile away just based on how the character is structured. so like why should i CARE
