Bellatrix noticed her the second she walked onto Malfoy property. She had her little spies working around the party, repoerting back to her. It was all about timing with the witch. To be able to produce the best impact, relied heavily on when. That is why she allowed the traitor to continue to feel her presence was going unnoticed.

It was closer to the end of the night, when she was about ready to leave work Rhysand, that she found her way over to where the blood traitor found refuge.

"I find it intriguing you continue to embed yourself in a place you no longer belong." Bellatrix comes up behind Andromeda. "There is consequences to your actions." A warning, a plan already in place.

Bella was simply passing by the café, heading to Borgin and Burke's to collect an item that had been collected and put aside for her. The letter that arrived by owl tucked in her robes. Hues almost missed them, stopping hastily, glancing inside where she had to blink, not quite sure why Narcissa would be conversing with their traitorous sister, the fury building inside of the brunette.

Without a second thought, calm as a storm, she entered the shop, a sickly sweet smile on her lips. Noticing that the table only held two chairs, she plucked one from the table beside them, placing it between them.

Her attention falls on Narcissa first. "Dear sister, I did not know we were having a sister reunion, my invitation must have been lost by owl." A coldness in her tone, next, glancing over at the sister that decided they meant nothing to them. Cast them aside for some mudblood. "Don't you have some happily ever after to be living with your husband." A beat. "I would hate for us to keep you from him." A warning to tread carefully.

Andromeda had been the first of the Black cousins to leave the family and it had shaken Narcissa to her core. She had never imagined that her sister would actually leave their family behind for a boy. When Sirius had followed Andromeda's lead, she hadn't been all that surprised, and to be frank she hadn't felt like the family was missing out on much. He had always been a rebel. And then Regulus had gone too and she shattered. If Andromeda hadn't been the first would the boys have followed?

That was a question that kept her up at night sometimes. Why hadn't she been good enough for her family to stay around?

"Ah, that's where you've been gone too long Andromeda. Since when has it mattered what I wanted?" she clucked her tongue. "You should know better than that." What was it about running into her sister that brought out this side of her? She didn't like it. That was for certain. "Mother and Lucius wouldn't like me speaking to you."

I made a thread a bit ago on andromeda's reaction to regulus dying so... what about andromeda's reaction to sirius dying?

Andromeda adored both of her baby cousins when she was still at home, treating them with such kindness which wasn't something they were used to. After she left home, when he had heard that Sirius had been sorted into gryffindor she was estatic. Over the moon with joy and happiness that someone in her family hadn't fallen under the spell of slytherin (she still loves her house but just understand how that must feel). So of course she sends him letters and they become even closer because she's the only person in the family that's displayed any love for him. And as they get older he becomes so much more important in her life. He would babysit Tonks on his holidays and she would meet all of his friends when he visited, and when he finished Hogwarts they'd meet up for dinner at each others homes often because they were all each other had.

When he went to azkaban she was devastated, crushed and so confused and so lonely again because she didn't want to believe that her little cousin would ever side with Voldemort, not after seeing him grow up. She refused to believe anything that the news had published but that doesn't mean it was mental torture to hear of it constantly for years (and having to hear of Bellatrix's imprisonment at the same time). But then he escaped. and she read the news, and no one could find him. She even considered going to look for him herself because she had a million things to say to him. but she decided against messing with ministry matters, well until her daughter joined the Order and told her of Sirius' existence, confirming that she had been correct and how he could never side with Voldemort ever. She would send letters to him through Tonks and get updates of how he was doing from everything her daughter could tell her, and it calmed her. She was at slightly more peace with the fact that her cousin was at least somewhat safe from harm. She knew that he would'nt get hurt now but she was so wrong.

What was supposed to be a lovely evening at the start of summer was the opposite of that, she was rushed to St Mungos hospital with Ted by some order members that her daughter was badly injured. Only to find her daughter barely awake, sobbing, with newspapers of Voldemorts return. All she could understand through her daughters cries was the broken sentences of "she had killed him". So many death eaters had been apprehended by the ministry and so many Order members were injured, conveniently there was one name missing from the list of death eaters captured Andromeda knew that Sirius was dead, and she knew that he had been killed by Bellatrix. How her heart broke knowing that the her own sister had become the murderer of their cousin. Knowing that someone who was supposed to protect her had directly caused her too much pain. Not comfortable with people seeing her cry, Andromeda locked herself in the hospital bathroom and let everything out. She was terrified for her life and for her daughters life and for her husbands life, what would she do if her sister hurt any of them?

They’d made up - twice. Ted had known they would. He wasn’t worried for it. They fell in and out of arguments as easily as falling in love had been (though, that, at least they’d never fallen out of). Now, in their bed much too late at night with Andromeda’s hair tickling his arm - their daughter long asleep a few rooms down - Ted grew weary. He’d been up for over twenty-four hours straight (stretching himself too thin) and he struggled keeping his eyes open as he looked at her with his head on the pillow.

But he couldn’t sleep yet. There was too much to say and, for a man who thought words held weight and usually kept them close to the chest for that reason, that meant something. 

Still, he told Andromeda most things and she did the same in return. And the conversation he’d overheard much too early this morning and then the later discussion it spurred with their mutual friend was too much to hold onto, even for one more day. “The infirmary was... interesting,” he began, his voice low with weariness. He ran his fingers through her hair. He hadn’t said he was sorry, but he hadn’t needed to because he’d shown her. Which meant the topic of their argument - said infirmary - would’ve now been considered a safe one to breach.

"Good." Voldemort nodded, his voice going soft as he acknowledged the emotion in his daughter's voice. "You see reason, that is very good." It was easier, he thought, to get the girl back in line that her mother. But would he want Bella any other way? Likely not. Well - ah. It was what it was.

"There is hope for you yet, Delphini. And I believe you. I know where your loyalty lies." He felt the last of his anger at the girl ebb all too quickly. He was too lenient with the girl, too forgiving. But she was young. His own blood. It was only natural to be accommodating to ones own child, no? It ensured survival.

"Do? What you need to do, Delphini, is to follow my advice from here on out. And of course - your continued loyalty." He took a step forward and cupped the girl's chin in his hand, tilting her head to look at her. "You are a clever girl, Delphini. But you are rash and defiant, like your mother. Be aware of this."

He let go of her, nodded, and was gone.

Hearing his words of affirmation left Delphini glowing. He hadn't questioned her loyalty, just her judgement. He was right to do so, after all. She had deliberately defied him, even if going against his word was not her intention behind the conversation with her Mother.

Delphini welcomed his hand against her face, always thrilled for any amount of affection he was able to share with her, nodding gently with his words.

"Of course, Father." She agree, nearly to adamantly. "You will never not have my loyalty. That is unthinkable." She can acknowledge that this was her error - she had broken his trust, she made a mistake. But Mother.. Mum had still lied to her, and for the life of Delphini, she still couldn't figure out why. At this point, perhaps it was best to drop the topic. Mum had clearly been upset. She didn't want to upset her, she just wanted to understand.

She bowed to him gently on his way out, considering his parting statement briefly. Rash? Defiant? All traits inherited from her Mother, no doubt. Hm..

..Perhaps it would be best to try and keep that in mind for her next conversation with Mum.

𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞.   22nd september.   ／   𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.   diagon alley.

         ──     it’s one of the rare moments that molly has been left without her flock.  she loves her children, a fact she reminds herself every morning around the hours of four and six, when the twins wake the house with their ruckus. she adores the boys, a fact she states anytime someone asks her just how she does it in that tone that’s always some combination of pity and awe. she can’t imagine life another way, a fact she doesn’t have to repeat to know the truth of it at any given moment. they are her world, and she would give her own ten times over for each of them. so forgive the woman for thinking it, but in moments like these when arthur has steered them off in some other direction, their absence feels very much like a breeze of fresh air.

then again, it could just be the wind. the witch wraps her coat tighter around her, smoothing down her hair and shaking the slight chill out of her bones. head on a swivel, molly’s eyes land on the doors of the leaky cauldron, the promise of spiced cider inviting enough. even more so, she realizes as she enters, is the form of a friend. a smile pulls at her lips as eyes land on andromeda tonks, sans husband and child like herself.   “   fancied yourself a bit of an escape?   ”   she settles into the barstool without questioning whether or not it is taken, chin promptly going to rest in palm as molly casts the other witch a knowing glance.   “   we’ve been here no more than thirty minutes and george has already started asking if it’s possible to turn fred’s head into a pumpkin.   ”

For The First Time, Part 1

Or: Ted Tonks has never liked his potions partner particularly well. She’s always seemed a bit, well, cruel and emotionless. But sometimes people can surprise you.

Ted is on his way to dinner when he hears muffled sniffling coming from a side corridor...

Ted: ‘Dromeda.

Ted: Not until you tell me why you’re sitting on a dirty floor, crying.

Ted: Again, ouch. And haven’t we talked about not saying that word?

Andromeda looks away, heaving a sigh.

Andromeda stares at Ted as he sits down, expression unreadable.

And no one says anything and he wonders if maybe this is one of those times he shouldn’t have followed his instincts.

Their only conversations literally involve Ted trying to convince her that he has a right to be at Hogwarts. That and, “Pass me that vial - no, the other one.”

They’re not friends - not even close. By all standards, he should hate Andromeda Black.

But she looks so sad.

Ted: No?

Andromeda: It made sense for us to be together. But there was never any passion. It never felt right. “Meant to be,” or whatever that bullshit is.
