Blake laughed, shook his head and revved his engine in return, "I never let anyone win, ya gotta earn that shit." He called out over the motor as he lined up next to Vik then leaned down over the handlebars.

Kit kept bouncing on the balls of her feet eager to see how Vik's bike would stand up against Blake. Slim moved just in front of the two racers, lifted a hand, looked to the finish line and gave Swirv a nod then counted them down. As soon as his arm dropped the two were off in a cloud of dust.

"Oh fuck--" Clutch waved the dirt away from his face but didn't look away. It was a short race and the two were neck and neck the whole way but from their end they couldn't see who crossed the line first. In a rush, all three bikers hopped on their bikes and rode down to the gas station to meet up with Swirv and review the playback.

"That was so damn tight!" Clutch called out with a laugh as he parked his bike and jumped off quickly towering over Swirv's shoulder. Blake and Vik watched intently, Blake brushed a hand through his white blond hair.

"Shit that was close..." Blake mumbled and nudged Vik with his helmet at his side, the smallest smirk on his lips. "You're fuckin' good," he mumbled.

"Did she beat you?" Kit asked pushing her way in with Slim next to her. "It's like a hair but she totally fucking beat you! Oh my god!" Kit laughed and reached out to tap Vik's arm. "No fuckin' way!"

"You can't see that," Blake countered and shoved Kit teasingly, his lips still quirked up in the smallest of smirks. "It's a tie at best." He turned to Swirv, "Right?"

“Come on Fwoofy! You can do it!”

“Blake, it’s been almost an hour,” Hop sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as he watched his friend repeat words of encouragement to their Cosmog over and over. Beside him, Reshiram stood, eyes following his trainer with a dumbfounded expression plastered on his face. “You realize they can’t understand a word you say, right?”

“Yes they can!” Blake insisted with a pout, shooting him an annoyed glare over their shoulder.. “They’re still just… figuring it out! We’ll get it eventually.”

The Cosmog in question, however, was currently occupied with exploring in the tall grass, happily chittering to itself as it floated about and very much not trying to do whatever it was Blake wanted them to do.

“Uh huh,” Hop nodded, voice dropping with sarcasm. “Real hard worker over there.”

With a defeated groan, Blake ran a hand over their face as they rose to their feet. “Okay, yeah, this isn’t working.” Scooping Fwoofy back into their arms, they turned to face Hop. “Let’s try something else! There’s gotta be a way we can-”

A strange snort from Reshiram made everyone draw their attention towards the legendary dragon, and they all looked up to see him awkwardly scrunching his nose at nothing in particular. Raising a brow, Blake reached a hand out towards their Pokémon in concern as he squeezed his eyes shut and reared his head back. “Woah, buddy, you okay-?”

ACHOO!

The sudden, booming sneeze from the feathery creature made everyone nearly jump out of their skin, and made Fwoofy quite literally go flying straight out of Blake’s arms. With a frightened squeal, the little sentient ball of clouds spun about in the air like a stray leaf, a blue glow encasing its tiny body.

“Woah, Fwoofy-!” Blake exclaimed, both them and Hop simultaneously moving to run after the Cosmog. Before they could even take two steps forward, though, a dazzling explosion burst forth from Fwoofy and swallowed their fields of vision.

Blake had hardly realized they’d been sent tumbling backwards by the blow, until they opened their eyes to find themself collapsed on the grass. With a groan, they placed a hand over their head as they sat up and looked around. Sparkling residue still lingered in the air from the blast, but by the looks of it no one seemed to have been hurt.

After stumbling back onto their feet, Blake moved to help pull Hop from the ground and pick Fwoofy back up. “Okay, that was weird,” Blake remarked, giving Fwoofy a look of worry when they noticed how exhausted it suddenly seemed. The Cosmog let out a weak little trill, deflating in its trainer’s arms like a balloon. “I’ve never seen them do THAT before…”

“Maybe Fwoofy just learned a new attack?” Hop suggested with a shrug, momentarily glancing over at Reshiram, who still seemed a bit disoriented himself.

“I-” Blake opened their mouth to reply, but stopped when they suddenly noticed Reshiram’s head jolting up from the corner of their eye. “Reshi? What’s up?” They asked, turning to see what had gotten the Legendary’s attention.

Reshiram let out a roar towards the sky, a particular sound Blake had come to recognize whenever he was calling for his counterpart. Thinking N had come to see what they were up to, Blake followed the dragon’s gaze, expecting to see the black silhouette of Zekrom approaching on the horizon- but instead they spotted… another Reshiram?

"Damn, boy, you make a fishing pole look good," she called out before hopping down from her perch to greet him. "I haven't seen any fish jumping out here at all, but even if we get skunked for a few hours, it'll still be a good time. And I brought snacks, so, really, what else could we ask for?"

This was a girls night to do nothing but relax and binge all the movies, food and alcohol they wanted. "How've you been, by the way? How is work and life going?" Romina casually asked while she closed the door and made her way to the kitchen to pour them both a glass of wine.

Atticus's arms are thrown triumphantly above his head, coming to a stop outside of their bet upon destination: the smoothie shop. The few patrons lingering outside cast him an odd look at the outburst, but he pays them no mind, too busy cupping his hands around his mouth to imitate the sound of a crowd roaring.

"And at the last second, Atti Cortes takes the lead, successfully snaking Blake Michaels's chance for a free smoothie. Will she ever recover, folks?"

With his fist acting as a microphone, he holds it out towards Blake for comment, his other hand braced on his knee as he hunched over to try and catch his breath.

(She'd certainly given him a run for his money. Did he feel guilty about that last trick he'd pulled to sabotage her chances of winning their silly bet? Maybe a little...but pretending to pull something so she'd slow down and check on him had to be one of the oldest tricks in the book. The victory was still sweet, as was the smoothie he was about to be rewarded with.)

new hazbin hotel VA analysis and thoughts

okay so, for anyone who didn't already know, Prime Video released this video earlier today (Dec 15), announcing the official new cast list for the Hazbin Hotel voice actors

i, in all of my neurodivergent hyperfixation glory (or whatever), have some THOUGHTS on this, so i’m making a series of posts analysing/talking through all of my thoughts and emotions about the new VAs! gonna try and keep everything either positive or neutral, i’m not gonna be, like, an outright dick to any of the casting choices because honestly i think they’re all very good in their own right!

anyway, yeah, this one is the first one! going below a cut because even though most of them aren’t that long on their own, it’s gonna get REALLY long once all of them are added in the reblogs (going to add characters to the tags on this OP of the post as they're posted cause reblog tags don't do shit, wordcounts after this one will be in the respective reblogs' tags so they're visible and comprehensible)

the characters i’m planning on doing, ones that are posted already will be linked from the word!:

Charlie (this one!), Vaggie, Angel Dust, Alastor, Sir Pentious, Husk, Niffty, Vox, and Valentino (if/when it's released, i'd also like to do one of these for Cherri Bomb! i haven't seen any talk of her VA so far though gdfjhk)

so! the first of many! to start with, Charlie’s new VA is Erika Henningsen! we got to hear quite a lot of her singing voice in the announcement video, as it was, well, a music video, but what about her speaking voice? linked here is a video of her speaking, to use as reference next to the announcement video itself! of course, she may speak differently for the actual role, many VAs do that (many also don’t!), so she may sound slightly different in the show!

main thoughts: i really like this choice for Charlie. i thought her original VAs (singing and speaking) from the pilot were brilliant, but both the “OGs” and Erika fit the character really well. i think she sort of sounds hopeful in a disney princess way, which i’ve seen a lot of people saying in a negative manner but i think in this context it’s a good thing! it adds a sort of upbeat element that makes her stand out from the other characters we’ve seen, which i think ties in really nicely with her character and personality

i will say, in the pilot, i was never particularly attached to Charlie as a character. i of course do love her, i love almost all the characters, but she was never one that stood out to me nearly as much as, say, Alastor. that being said, i never formed a notably strong importance to her voice in my brain, compared to some of the others from the show, so while her voice is noticeably different, for me personally i don’t expect it to be nearly as jarring as it will probably be for some of the others

i’m really excited to see where Erika takes this role, though, she seems like she has the ability to voice Charlie really well, and especially as the main character (or, one of them), i think her voice is gonna be able to be a strong foundation to go off of with taking the character even further
