Also can I just mention how excited I was that this mans has cortosis armor??? I let out an audible "OH SHIT" every single time a lightsaber got shorted out. Leslye Headland wasn't kidding about some of those Legends pulls and I love it.

"Filoni ignored the thrawn books!"
Thrawn's first appearance was in Rebels season 3 episode 1, released in September 2016, the first thrawn novel was released in April of 2017, the sequel in prequel novels were then released in 2018-2022, after Rebels ended
Shockingly, filoni ain't at fault here, I'm afraid any inconsistency in characterization of thrawn between the novels and shows is on Timothy Zahn
"But ahsoka-"
Is building off from thrawn's characterization at the end of Rebels (which i will remind you, is when his calm, aloof, and reasonable facade is cracking and he's going into a full blown breakdown) his then most recent chronological appearance
Which brings up another thing
I think the very obvious implication of differences in characterization in works set decades apart is that the character has changed over time

Thrawn Alliances
Thrawn, my man, you already know Anakin was Ahsoka's master. Padm茅 told you in Thrawn Alliances. You're not the kind of guy who forgets these things, especially since you've used her Marg Sabl maneuver many times.

Star Wars commentators: Ooo! Darth Teef's helmet is made of a material called "cor-to-sis." Yes! It's in Legends and can stop lightsabers! You probably haven't heard of it. Let me fill you in!

The Mandalorian S3E5
The management vs employee dilemma we see everywhere in real life.
The Captain not only wants to help the planet because it鈥檚 the right thing to do but because he knows the pirate attack is not an isolated incident, and something bigger is at play which will affect them all in the long run.
The Colonel knows that manpower and resources require time and money to assemble. They鈥檙e already stretched thin across the galaxy with more planets joining the New Republic for them to protect which takes precedence.
Both of the Captain and Colonel are right. Nothing is as simple as we think it is.
I remember reading the Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn where Leia struggles with the politics of the New Republic that even Han Solo is frustrated that he feels the old times of the Rebel Alliance was so much simpler.

Big fan of the way Tim Zahn was likely forced to include Batuu in Thrawn: Alliances and he made it sound like an absolute shithole.
