Oneshot: Good day lieutanant Vanto
AU for "Good day lieutenant Vanto." but Thrawn is just started crying
Pairing: Thrawn/Eli Vanto
Rating: General
Text:
As soon as Thrawn recognized the Steadfast, he knew his meeting with Eli was inevitable. Ar'alani trusted his judgment and Eli was unskilled with numbers, so it was logical to assume the human was among the crew. And yet he tried to convince himself that it was okay, that he was ready.
Well, reality loved to show him how wrong he was.
When his gaze met Eli's, who stood out like a painted Loath-cat among all the Chiss of the Steadfast, the world around Thrawn seemed to stand still for an eternity. He took the time to look at him as if he were seeing him for the first time. A year had passed and yet Thrawn remembered every detail about Eli. His warm voice accented by the wild space that set him apart from all the other Imperial soldiers. The wild hair, which Thrawn knew took the human hours to get right, so he preferred to leave it alone. The warm chestnut brown eyes that Thrawn had lost himself in after their first meeting. The freckles he complained about after every shore leave mission, because the sun had made them more visible again and he was ashamed of them. Right down to the broad smile that made the Grand Admiral's heart leap every time he saw it. There was something about Eli that had fascinated Thrawn from their first meeting and still did today.
So no, Thrawn was anything but ready for this meeting.
For Thrawn, the Ascendancy always came first, then family, friends and lastly himself, that's how every Chiss was taught from childhood and that's how it should be. Nevertheless, there were many who looked at him askance when they found out that he had practically no private life. The military was all Thrawn had, all he had ever known, he was never given the chance to be anything other than a soldier. And until now, there had been no reason to want to be anything else.
Then he met Eli and his world was turned upside down.
He was the first person in Thrawn's life who had made him consider, if only for a moment, the possibility of dropping everything, just leaving and building a life with the man he'd fallen in love with. All he had to do was tell him, Thrawn knew Eli felt the same way. Three simple words. A year ago, shortly after his appointment as Grand Admiral, would have been the perfect moment.
But then he realized what that meant.
If he made a life with Eli, his deal with the Emperor would be null and void, and in the process, the Grysk would destroy both of their galaxies. It was a risk Thrawn could not take.
For the greater good.
Thrawn's feelings didn't matter, not as long as the Grysk posed a threat. No matter how much he wished it, no matter how much he missed Eli. So he had no choice but to do what he always did: act the perfect soldier. "Good day, Lieutenant Vanto." And to hope that the pain would one day become more bearable. Even if he knew that would only remain wishful thinking. The pain would never go away. It was now a part of him.
Thrawn watched wordlessly as the smile disappeared from Eli's face, leaving behind an expression of utter irritation.
But then even that expression faded, giving way to something Thrawn hadn't expected.
Worry.
"Sir.....is everything all right?"
Irritated, the Chiss hesitated for a moment, "Of course Lieutenant, why do you ask?"
"Because you cry." There was no judgment in Eli's words. Eli felt his smile suddenly disappear from his face. But not because of the cold greeting, rather because of the tears that made their way along the Chiss' features without warning.
As the first tears fell, Eli's first instinct was to wash them away. He wanted to wrap his arms around Thrawn, to tell him that no matter what the cause, he would be with him. That they could get through it together, just as they always had. But then reality hit him.
He watched as Thrawn, uncharacteristically, literally stormed off, leaving him without another word. Eli knew that any attempt to stop him or confront him would be futile, and yet he couldn't help but wonder. They had always been so close, so why the cold greeting? Weren't they friends?
Friends.....
The truth was that Eli felt more for Thrawn than friendship. In the years they had worked together, his initial resentment towards the Chiss had turned into something that had scared Eli at first. Without realizing it, he had fallen in love with Thrawn, and in the year they had been apart, his feelings hadn't wavered an inch.
Thrawn was opaque, hard and cold as a rock. But if you managed to get a little closer to him, despite all his rough edges, then you realized that Thrawn was not cold or emotionless. Quite the opposite. He was not Pryce, Thrawn took no pleasure in sacrificing lives, be it rebels or his own people. He just thought differently. And this difference in the Grand Admiral was something that fascinated Eli so much, despite all the trouble it had caused them in the past.
Yes, Eli had fallen in love with Thrawn. Those bright red eyes that reminded him so much of the red gems that could only be found on Lysatra. The playful tone in his voice when Thrawn made others follow his plans. The slight grin when one of his plans came to fruition, which they almost always did. All this and all the strange idiosyncrasies that characterized him. No matter how much they drove Eli mad. His strange obsession with art, his unemotional nature, his inability to stick to rules, or his habit of immersing himself in a project and not being able to let it rest until it was finished.
Eli had actually assumed that the feelings were mutual. There had been so many moments between them that had made him hope that it was. Moments when he had thought that Thrawn would finally say it. But the Grand Admiral had just made it abundantly clear that everything going on between them was purely business.
"May I give you some advice, Lieutenant Vanto?"
Eli was startled, he hadn't heard the Ar'alani coming and in the same breath cursed himself for his inattention "Of course Admiral."
"If you really love him, you can't wait for him to make the first move."
"I don't understand."
"Thrawn believes he is the only one who can protect our people from the Grysk, and he would give anything to ensure that safety. Even if that means neglecting his own needs and desires. I've seen Thrawn let his chance at happiness slip away because he thought it was the right thing to do."
"For the greater good."
"The path he has chosen for himself is a lonely, a self-destructive one." She grabbed his shoulder as she passed him. "Don't let him go, Eli." There was something so sad in the Admiral's words, almost as if she were speaking from experience. No matter what had happened between them, he sensed the deep concern Ar'alani felt for Thrawn.
Eli made a decision, he would not let Thrawn go just like that, at least not without telling him how he felt about him. Even if he pushed him away.
Thrawn, on the other hand, was glad that he hadn't bumped into anyone on the way to his office. He locked the door and turned his attention to his art collection. But his thoughts were everywhere but on the paintings and sculptures in front of him. Why was he crying? He hadn't cried since... since the night he had found out that the Mitth family wanted to adopt him. So why now?
His thoughts were interrupted when the door behind him suddenly opened and at the voice that answered he didn't dare turn around. Not when his face was still streaked with tears, "Thrawn, can we talk?"
The Grand Admiral didn't turn around, he just straightened up and crossed his arms behind his back in his usual professional manner. "What do you want here?"
"You gave me the override code in case of an emergency, remember?"
"This is hardly an emergency." He replied. Even though Thrawn tried, his command lacked the usual conviction. He didn't want Eli to go, and Eli wasn't ready to leave.
Eli sighed, "Maybe, but there's something I should have told you a long time ago. I've just been too cowardly to do it."
"I want to be alone."
"Thrawn, please." There was something pleading in the human's voice, but no matter how much Thrawn wanted to listen to him, he knew it wasn't possible.
"Go now." Thrawn replied firmly. He didn't want to hear it.
"Not until you listen to me." A short pause followed. A pause that seemed to Thrawn to be empty. "I care about you, more than I ever hoped to believe, and I'm tired of pretending otherwise. I love-"
"Don't say it. You don't know what you're doing."
"What are you afraid of?"
Of the fact that once Eli said those words, there was no turning back. But these words never left the Chiss's lips: "I'm not afraid."
For a while, only the whirring of the hologram broke the silence between them. Thrawn heard Eli start to move, the footsteps coming closer and closer, finally stopping right behind him and placing a hand gently on his shoulder.
"Please, look at me." The words were no more than a whisper, and yet they managed to send a shiver down Thrawn's body. He hesitated for a moment or two, but in the end he complied with the request. For the first time, Thrawn let go of his mask and revealed to Eli all that had been pent up beneath it for so long, the tears that had not dried up and the fatigue that had been haunting him for years.
"I love you, Thrawn. I want to spend my life with you. As long as you want me too." Eli took Thrawn's face in his hands, brushed away a tear with his thumb, and smiled as he realized how Thrawn nestled into the gesture with the same desperation as a man who had wandered the desert for days without water and was now presented with a glass of water.
"I love you too." He had said it. He had finally said it. Even if for different reasons, they both felt a great weight lift from them. "I'm so tired, Eli. So incredibly tired. I want to go home. Home to you."
Eli smiled, "When this is all over, I'll take you home." He leaned forward to touch the Chiss's lips. It was a promise Eli was only too happy to fulfill.
Reality loved to show him how wrong he was, but in most cases, everything would turn out in Thrawn's favor.

Hello! I really enjoy your writings, the way you write Thrawn in some settings can be so wholesome and sweet and I really love seeing the character in that kind of light. Especially the aroace one and when he’s with the different families you gave him, regardless of how old the kids are or what their dynamic is.
For your requests, do you think you could write Thrawn holding his firstborn child for the first time? I think it’d be interesting and sweet to see him get kinda nervous about the prospect of finally meeting them before his heart fills with so much love upon seeing his baby and being so happy for the finally he now has.
Hope you’re having a wonderful day and that you have fun with all your requests coming in ❤️

Thrawn caresses your temple with his knuckles, silently looking at you taking a nap. It has been long and torturous but you did it! Against all odds and predictions, you actually did it. It was difficult, dangerous for you and the baby, and they came out premature, but you did it!
Oh brave you.
Oh warrior you.
He feels so grateful for you giving birth to your baby. He held your hand during the entire process, hugging your shoulders as you pushed hard, losing your blood and your sanity in the pain. But you persevered and delivered your newborn despite all the complications due to you two being different species.
Right now your baby is between the hands of the medics, leaving you two to breathe and trying to relax. You didn't even have time to take your newborn in your arms, the medics immediately took them.
You both knew the risks of having a hybrid baby, but you both hoped to have at least the time to take a look at them before they got taken away. But their health signals ordered the medics to put them in urgent care immediately.
So Thrawn spent the last three hours with you, trying to ease your worries and looking over you napping. Your labor was so intense and painful tiredness took precedence over your fear and you ended up sleeping, too exhausted after such a trial.
He looks at you, full of love and admiration. Since Bridger captured the Chimaera to bring her to Peridea, morphine stocks are rare and sparse. He wished he could have given you some but you refused when the droid proposed it. You refused to have the comfort of painkillers when they could be used to mend the wounds of your troops on the battlefield. He tried to convince you that you had the right, days before labor started but you were adamant! You wanted to set an example as his wife and Commander.
You chose the way of pain to give life to the most perfect being in the Universe, the love of his life, the light of his days. And for that his gratitude is infinite.
“Grand Admiral?” The careful voice of his head doctor raises in his back, snatching him off his contemplation of your sleeping form, “We just finished. Do you wish to see them?”
Thrawns contemplates them up and down in silence before leaning forward, gently kissing your forehead. He pulls the cover over you and straightens his back before turning towards his medic.
“Lead the way.” He placidly responds.
After three long hours of uncertainty, the doctor appears a bit unsure but nothing in their demeanor indicates any high-stress level, Thrawn concludes that whatever medical procedures your baby needed, they have been able to deliver.
As they silently walk Thrawn’s mind starts asking…weird questions.
Was it painful for the baby ?
Did they feel scared ?
Did they cry for their mother, powerless as they were manipulated by strangers ?
Did they feel cold at any moment ?
Did they try to reach for any of you two with their little hands only to meet the void ?
“Here we are, Grand Admiral.”
Thrawn stops before the door… terrified. What if… the medics failed ? He doesn't read any bodily signs typical of tension in them but is he himself in the right mindset to read them after such a hard birth and pregnancy ?
“How are they ?” He demands, imperial, never letting any doubts or fear slip through in his demeanor as he knows so well.
He internally prays to have read them correctly. The head medic looks at him, their lips in a thin line, searching for their words.
“Authorization to speak freely ?”
Thrawn nods, his expression closed off and unreadable.
“It wasn't pretty. To be frank, your baby is a miracle survivor, we are not equipped properly for babies’ care and health monitoring, but I also notified you of the risks of giving birth to a hybrid.”
Thrawn ever so slightly squints, a subtle threat and call to order. The doctor decides to cut the story short.
“You are incredibly lucky Grand Admiral, truly. I don't know if we would be able to repeat this feat for a second baby, especially stranded on this wretched planet.” the doc extends his hand towards the open room  “They are sleeping.”
Thrawn considers the open door and wonders for a second if he has the strength to walk into the room before getting a grip.
Of course, none of his turmoil is visible, and his hesitation lasts less than a second. He walks into the little room, a former waiting area reconverted into a nursery.
It’s not perfect, no battleships ever saw a nursery before. They had to do with what they had to accommodate new life on Peridea. He advances towards the bassinet, perceiving the heat signals through the material.
He, oh so slowly, approaches the little form lying under a blanket. He feels like his heart is going to explode under the pressure.
They are blue !
Just like him.
But they have your hair color and your nose The cheekbones and forehead bumps are unmistakably his.
He leans forward to observe better.
He never witnessed such… perfection before. This is simply the most beautiful being to ever exist in the cosmos. The perfect mix of their father and mother.
His heart bleeds at the nodes of the different monitors over their body and the tubes through their little nose, but it must be down to unsure their survival.
“They are stable now, but they will need to remain for some time.” The medic explains, coming behind their Grand Admiral.
Thrawn tilts his head, his eyes never leaving the baby, looking at them moving in their sleep, eyes closed shut. Inadvertently, he feels his hands clasped behind his back starting to tremble. He isn’t even touching them but he fears to hurt them in any way.
They are just so small.
And him so big...
What if he causes pain to his baby by trying to hold them? What if he hurt them more than they are already wounded? He could never forgive himself. Maybe it is better if he abstains from any physical contact.
Yes.
That is for the best.
“What gender are they?” He asks without lifting his gaze from this absolute perfection.
“It is a brave little girl.” The medic explains, a small voice audible in their voice, “My congratulations, Grand Admiral.”
His heart skips a beat.
A little girl?
Just as he so dear hoped. He always desired a daughter. You were neutral on the question but he knew deep down that he was meant to father a little girl.
And there she is!
His little warrior...
“A daughter...” He repeats like he has difficulties realizing his chance.
The baby seems to react and agitate herself in the incubator.
“She recognizes your voice. You should try and hold her, she needs comfort after this... trial.” The medic explains.
Thrawn smiles, his expression hidden from the doctor. She recognizes his voice...
The voice of her father.
He spent so much time talking to your bump during those seven months of pregnancy, in hopes the baby would be able to recognize him and associate him with safety and comfort.
His heart clenches knowing he succeeded.
He tentatively enters the incubator with his large hand and very delicately caresses his daughter’s cheek with his knuckle.
She is so warm.
Like a Chiss.
She seems to yawn and tries to seize his large finger in her tiny fist, desperately longing for some warmth too. His hands travel to her tummy and gently brush it.
Warrior... She is so small compared to him, that he feels he could crush her in his fist. That thought distraught him so terribly that he stops his caress, much to his daughter’s dismay who lets out a whine escape her.
“Take her in your arms. The first hours are important for a baby’s general well-being.”
“Leave us alone, please.” Thrawn orders nonchalantly, hiding his worries from view.
Once the medic leaves, he carries a chair closer to the crib and gets rid of his white jacket and black tank shirt to very tenderly seize his daughter. He takes care of holding her fragile head correctly and supporting her body, not pulling off the nodes of the monitors, and sits down on the chair, pressing his baby girl against his warm Chiss skin, in a soothing skin-to-skin contact.
Maker she is so light and fragile... He suddenly feels so terribly clumsy with such a precious package in his hands.
She babbles in her sleep, agitating herself in his hands. She holds her tight to not risk dropping her, pressing her soft precious body against his beating heart.
It feels good.
It feels right.
He instantly feels a new connection forming between himself and his baby. She seems to try and get a grip on him, to hold him close, to keep the warmth source against her sensitive baby skin.
“Hello, little one.” He speaks softly with his deep melodious voice.
A sound that seems to please her immensely because she seems to try to smile despite all her tubes. He delicately cradles her.
“You scared us immensely, you know? But here you are, at last... My baby.”
Thrawn isn’t a man prone to sentimentalism, but in the intimacy of the hug, he can’t help himself. He needs to whisper sweet nothing to his baby, deepening the connection further.
“You are already so loved, little one. We dreamed for your arrival for years. Ch’eo k’eten, ch’eo euhn ch'etecerci.”
The baby presses her cheek against his peck, letting herself sooth by her father’s heartbeat. She appears so appeased right now, sleeping soundly in his arms. At her true place.
“My pride, my jewel...”
He gently lifts her higher for her little head to rest in the crook of his neck, inhaling her scent. It is pleasant and relaxing, almost familiar like a song he had known for years.
He sighs.
Soon his shift will resume. And he will have to leave you both behind in the med bay to ensure the Chimaera’s safety.
But for now, he will indulge as much as he can. He also hopes to be present for your first meeting with her, he longs to see your elated expression when he will bring your your firstborn.
“Welcome to the world, little Thashao. I vow to protect you from any harm, my sweet, my treasure...”

I have some semi-coherent thoughts now. I want to specifically analyze that final scene and why that in particular had me bursting into tears. (I still can’t watch it without tearing up.) I use the term “analyze” loosely and really mean stick around and listen to me emotionally ramble.
FIRST of all, they hit us with grown up Omega, which automatically hits you in the feels because this is the naive, bright-eyed child we’ve watched be amazed by dirt now getting ready to head off and fight in the Rebellion.
Then, they hit us with her exchange with old man Hunter. We got that bittersweet ending in the best way possible.
Tumblr media
This is the payoff. The Bad Batch has raised her well. She has grown up into the type of person who sees the injustices in the galaxy and wants to do something about it. It’s time for her to take up a cause and fight.
Hunter’s response. “And we want to keep you safe.”
Omega: “You have. But I’m not a kid anymore. You don’t have to worry about me.”
Hunter: “You’re our kid, Omega. You always will be.”
Admittedly, this exchange here hit me deep on a personal level as someone who’s going to be moving out very soon. It’s time to grow up and I want to do this to step into who I am meant to be. But I also know in my parent’s eyes, I’ll always be there little child. And that both warms and breaks my heart just as it does theirs.
My personal life aside, from a storyline perspective, it is adorable how Omega reassures Hunter that they have kept her safe. I mean, just look at her! Look at the bright young person you’ve managed to raise, Hunter. The father genes are strong in this one.
Omega tells him: “Hunter, you’ve all fought enough.”
Tumblr media
This in it of itself is heartbreaking. The clones have all fought enough for a Republic that ultimately failed and discarded them. Clone Force 99 was fortunate to end up fighting for something worthwhile. For them, they fought for family and they ultimately won. And now, it is Hunter’s turn to lay down his arms to let the next generation take up the fight. And that stings because while he managed to eventually raise Omega in peace, he cannot fully shield her from having to bear the burden of war.
Honestly, I often think of Thrawn’s lines when talking to Hera and I think it’s applicable to Omega as well. “War is in your blood… You were forged by it.”
Here is Omega telling Hunter that it’s her fight. As a clone, it’s in her blood, in her genes, to fight. As a child raised on the tail end of the Clone Wars, it is her fight because she inherited it. As a person, it is her fight because she’s not one to stand aside while others are oppressed. Once again, a sign of how well-raised she is.
Hunter acknowledges Omega’s readiness, “I know you are… but I’m not.”
Oof. His admittance is a double edged sword. He knows she’s ready, he helped train her himself after all. It’s obvious he is so proud of her, but he doesn’t feel ready to let her go. Listening to his perspective really makes me tear up because it really gives insight on how my parents are handling my move. They don’t necessarily want to say goodbye but they are willing because they know I can accomplish what I set out to do.
THE HUG.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, I’m drowning in a sea of tears. This is so wholesome!
Before Omega boards her ship, Hunter is sure to tell her, “If you ever need us,
Tumblr media
Omega need only say the word and you best believe her brothers are crossing the entire galaxy more than five times to be at her side.
And yeah, that makes me cry all the harder because I know my family will do the same.
And the goggles scene was such another bittersweet punch in the gut.
Tumblr media
She’s definitely older than Tech was when he died, but the life she got to live on Pabu and what she’s going to do in the future is exactly why he sacrificed himself. She can live and live well. She’s forever going to be carrying a piece of him with her and carry on his legacy by utilizing the knowledge that he bestowed upon her. I’m definitely sobbing even harder. Tech girlies, I think denial is no longer an option.
Omega takes off in her ship and her theme swells in the background and it a scene of pure art and emotion. Batcher whines as she departs and I am so sad that Omega didn’t get to take Batcher with her because it parallels how I have to leave my fur babies behind!
The Bad Batch has showed us how change greatly affected everyone’s lives and how they learned to adapt to such changes. Yet, there was the constant that no matter what happened, family is still family and you can find a way to carry on to a brighter future.
Hunter’s final lines really get me, “It’s all right, girl. She’ll be fine.”
To me, I can almost take it as a message for myself. As the Bad Batch draws to a close and Omega steps into a new chapter, so must I. It’s rather daunting, but you know what, I’m gonna be fine and I’m gonna make it.
Whatever you are going through, just know you’re going to be fine as well.

Okay I need every shred of serotonin I can get right now, so! Have a fic I wrote for @sarah3210 in honor on May the Fourth! Hope you guys enjoy it!
(Taglist for fun and profit: @day-to-day-thots @laughingphoenixleader @aosladies @heckin-music-dork @opalknight @cassie-fanfics)
It had been a long time since Ezra Bridger had flown a shuttle. But somehow, that’s not why his hands were shaking as he approached the hangar bay of the ship in front of him.
He shouldn’t have been nervous. But for the first time in almost ten years, he wasn’t on Peridea. He was home.
Or close enough, at least. The ship wasn’t Lothal. But when Ezra thought of home, Lothal wasn’t always the first thing that came to mind. It wasn’t a place at all. It was people.
They’re here. He was sure of it. Sabine had told him where to find Hera— or rather, Hera’s flagship, since she was a general now. He couldn’t really say he was surprised. Just proud, if you could be proud of the woman who’d basically been your mother for so many years of your life.
The two A-wings escorting him peeled off as he slipped through the energy shield and set the shuttle down. Not too rough of a landing— Hera or Sabine could have done better, but Ezra was a little rusty.
Through the viewport, he could see a handful of figures moving towards the shuttle. Okay. Here we go.
He realized, as the shuttle ramp was lowering, that he hadn’t taken off the armor he’d stolen on Thrawn’s ship. Huh. Well, this should be fun. Holding back a sudden burst of laughter, Ezra headed down the ramp slowly, his hands in the air.
There was a cluster of people coming to meet him— most of them wearing white and blue or black uniforms, all looking exceptionally wary. And in their lead was a green skinned Twi’lek woman wearing a flight jacket and carrying a small blaster that she leveled directly at Ezra.
It’s Hera. She looked a little different. Older and tired, but still determined, with the same calm that she wore when she was trying to mediate a fight between him and Zeb. Holy kark, it’s Hera, and is that— in a flash, he realized that Kallus and Zeb were a few steps behind her, bo-rifles at the ready as they eyed the potential threat warily.
The reality of it hit him like a brick in the chest because it meant he was back. It worked. Ten years and he was face to face with his family again, finally.
He was still reeling when he recognized the figure rolling towards him. Chopper looked exactly the same as the last time Ezra had seen him, when the droid had helped him save Lothal. He was bwomping something about who did Ezra think he was fooling as he approached, and Ezra almost automatically let a hand drop to the top of Chopper’s dome. “Hey, Chop,” he whispered, far too low for anyone else to hear it. The droid let out a satisfied noise— clearly, he’d realized who Ezra was immediately.
Hera still looked unsure, though. Which was fair. Ezra was, after all, still wearing trooper armor. Reaching up, he slowly pulled off his helmet.
The expression on Hera’s face changed in a snap, shock and confusion bright in her eyes. Ezra knew the feeling. He still couldn’t believe what he was looking at, either.
“Ezra?” she said, her voice shaking, holding a thread of hope that Ezra understood deeply.
“Hi, Hera,” he said, and found himself grinning like an idiot because it had been so long but he was back. Things were a mess but he was with his family again. He could fix it. “I’m home.”
He started towards her, but Hera was already moving. Her blaster clattering to the ground, she darted towards him and threw her arms around him in a fierce embrace that knocked the wind out of Ezra. “Ow,” he grunted, but hugged her back, feeling tears prickle his eyes.
“Hi?” she said, her voice shaking. “You’ve been gone for ten years and that’s how you start?”
“Uh—”
Another set of arms enveloped them, effectively crushing the last of the air out of Ezra’s lungs. “When I’m done hugging you,” Zeb growled, “I’m gonna kill you.”
“Missed you too,” Ezra gasped, wheezing for breath. “Kallus, you next? Is it gonna be a hug or a death threat?”
The man laughed, sounding more at ease than Ezra ever remembered him sounding. “Oh, I think Zeb and General Syndulla have the death threats more than covered.”
“That’s good,” Ezra said as both Zeb and Hera let go. Hera only stepped back a little, though, studying his face.
“You’ve grown up so much,” she whispered, gently touching his cheek. “And you’re— we thought you were—”
“You really thought Thrawn and a couple purrgil could take me out?” Ezra said, raising his eyebrows and grinning. “I’m pretty offended.
Zeb grinned even wider. “Oh, not everyone did.”
“Thanks, Zeb.”
Zeb’s grin, somehow, widened. And got a lot more smug. “Oh, I wasn’t talking about me.”
“Ouch. Wait, then who—”
A door hissed open, and a voice cut him off. A familiar voice. “Hera! You’re not going to believe this, but I sensed—”
Ezra’s heart stopped around the same time the voice did. Staring over Hera’s shoulder at him was… a ghost?
Because Kanan Jarrus had died on Lothal, saving him and Sabine and Hera.
He couldn’t be here, his hair and beard grown back with streaks of gray. And he DEFINITELY couldn’t have two kids with him— one who looked like a small version of Hera but with freckles, and patches of orange in her skin. She eyed him warily as she clung to Kanan’s hand. The other was a human boy with green hair, and was gaping at Ezra with delight. “I told you,” he whispered.
“—Ezra,” the man finished, meeting Ezra’s gaze with clear, seeing eyes. The scar was still there, but… His eyesight came back. Right before he… he died. Didn’t he?
He could barely speak as Hera silently stepped out of the way, a smile on her face. Clearing his throat, Ezra managed a breath. “K-Kanan?”
A smile spread across his face. “Hey, kid. I bet you have some—”
Ezra cut him off by sprinting across the space between them and tackling him in a hug that nearly sent them both flying backwards. He was definitely going to cry, but all he could do right now was cling to his master and pray that he didn’t somehow disappear. “You’re here,” he choked out, holding back a sob.
Strong arms wrapped around him, holding him close. For a moment, he felt just like a padawan again. “I’m here,” Kanan murmured. “And so are you. Force, Ezra, we missed you so much.”
Ezra let out a shaky laugh. “Uh, you missed me? I thought you were dead.”
“I almost was.”
“Thank you for not being dead.”
He felt Kanan laugh. “Any time, kid. Thank you for coming home safely.” He paused, and Ezra could sense his confusion through their bond. Their bond, which had come flowing back so naturally that it felt like it had never left.
“Shouldn’t Sabine be with you?”
Whoops. “Uh, yeah, about that,” Ezra said sheepishly. “Um… she and Ahsoka are kinda left behind? And Thrawn is also here? And he has a team of witches and a creepy friend named Enoch?”
“Maul isn’t resurrected from the dead, too, is he?” Kanan said wryly, and Ezra laughed.
“Nope. He’s still dead.”
“Okay, then. We’ll handle it.”
We. Somehow, Ezra thought, the prospect of facing this with his family at his side made the whole situation a lot easier. It always did.

For the Fanfic Roulette, any chance you can do 30, 24, and Ezra Bridger? Thanks so much! (btw can you tag me in the post so I see when it’s up???)
Oh @skyofnostars *shake my head* what am I to do with you. How is it that you gave me the best request ever!!! *Squeezing you in a bear hug* Do you know you actually had me stumped for a day and a half. I had to go back and watch all critical Ezra Bridger episodes both in Rebels and Ahsoka, to get my mind wrapped around exactly what I wanted to write.
I don't know if this is what you were looking for, however I do hope that you enjoy it, because it actually turned out quite adorable if I do say so myself.
Thank you for such an awesome request.
Love oo,
The Return
Warnings: Longing, lost love, emotions, tears, kissing, disappearance, I think that's it. If I miss any please let me know.

Ezra couldn’t help smiling as his eyes focused on your face after he got off the Imperial shuttle. He wanted to run over to you right away, but between someone shouting, “Someone get the medic. Get the medic!”Which simply made him laugh, and then Hera ran over and grabbed him, squeezing him like there was no tomorrow, making him remember what family was and how much he missed you all; he needed to wait to see you.
Once he finally had a chance to actually breathe, he didn’t stop searching for you among the crowd that were still looking at him as though he had come back from the dead. He searched and searched until he found your face once again again. And even though everyone else looked at him like he was an anomaly, a freak.
Your eyes … well, your eyes only held one thought, ‘he was back.’
His breath caught in his throat, as he locked eyes with you. He’d forgotten how amazing those eyes of yours were. You had always made comments about his piercing blue eyes, however, to him they were nothing in comparison with yours.
Your eyes held the world for him. They were always full of admiration, devotion and longing, and if your eyes weren’t enough, your lips always held that smile that was specially reserved for him. The same smile you currently were wearing on your lips. All in all, regardless of the distance and the years apart, you were still the most beautiful person he’d ever known.
The moment he said bye to you on Lothal, hearing you begging and pleading with him to get off of Thrawn’s ship, telling him how you loved him to the end of time and back, how you’d always loved him. All he wanted was to run off Thrawn’s ship and into your waiting arms, but he couldn’t. Kannan taught him that he needed to make this one sacrifice for the greater good. Kannan’s last lesson, he said. Oh god, how he wanted to kiss you one last time, hold you in his arms one more time, holding you so tight you’d never forget what his arms felt like, at that moment, he understood how Kannan must’ve felt, when he made the ultimate sacrifice. It had been the hardest goodbye he’d ever have to give.
After all, you’d been by his side since you were kids, growing up together, staying close even after his parents were taken. You never left his side when you both had to live on the street after your own parents were killed by the Empire. You were even there when he joined the rebels. You’d always been there, just like his shadow.
He can still remember how idiotic he’d been … no. How confused he was when he first met Sabine, he’d never met someone like her, and of course his world turned on its head when he met her. But somewhere between losing Kannan and seeing Sabine with her family, somehow he realized, you had been more than a shadow. More than a friend. More than anything he ever thought possible. You were his heart, and that’s when he realized it had always been you.
Yet, your time together was cut short when he had to make the ultimate decision to sacrifice himself, to save you. To save Lothal. He tried to tell you in his own subtle way he’d be back. How he’d never stop loving you. How you were more to him than anything else the galaxy had to offer, and as smooth as he hoped his subtlety was, it didn’t work the way he’d hoped.
Instead, he felt your heart break when he said goodbye. He had felt your despair, your soul crushing.
He never meant to be gone for so long. He had always meant to come back to you. However, returning to you was out of his hands. There was nothing he could do while he waited on Peridea.
So when his eyes locked on you, his emotions took over. This time he wasn’t going to let anything stop him, he ran over to you, wrapping his arms around you, and burying his face into your neck. He couldn’t help smiling when he felt your arms wrap around him, holding him tight.
“You’re back…” it was all you were able to manage before the tears started coming hard and fast. You could feel your broken heart healing. Your soul repairing simply because you held him in your arms. You smelled his scent. You felt his heart beating against your chest.
Ezra pulled back enough just to wipe your tears, as he looked at you. Somehow you were even more beautiful than you were five minutes ago. On the one hand, he did feel bad for leaving Sabine and Ahsoka back on Peridea, on the other hand he was finally able to hold you in his arms after ten long years.
Ten years of waiting.
Ten years of longing.
As he looked into your eyes, his eyes glanced down to your lips. The desire to kiss you had never been stronger, he was hesitant at first, but he had ten years to think about it and didn’t want to hold back any longer.
He leaned forward, tilting his head ever so gently, a smile on his lips, tears sliding down his cheek as he closed the distance between you, placing his lips on your soft ones. As soon as your lips felt his, neither of you held back.
Maybe you should’ve cared that he still hadn’t been debriefed, maybe you should’ve cared that he was in a stormtrooper’s uniform, or maybe you should’ve cared about the imperial shuttle that was sitting there.
However, neither of you cared.
You didn’t care that you were in the middle of the hangar bay.
You didn’t care that others were watching.
The only thing that mattered at that moment was realizing you both finally felt like you were home. As though the pieces of your heart that had been missing for the past ten years, were suddenly healing, and once again you both were whole.
You pulled away and kissed his cheek, his neck, his shoulder, as you pulled him in for a hug, and held him tight. He was home. He was alive. He wasn’t hurt, and frankly that’s all that mattered. He was there with you.
“I missed you so much.” You whispered into his ear, as you breathed in his scent. Needing to remind yourself over and over again, this wasn’t a dream.
“I missed you, too.” He whispered back, his face buried in your hair, “There wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t think of you.”
“How did you get back?”
“It’s a long story.”
Both of your voices were low, everyone had started to scatter thanks to Hera’s intervention. She knew how much his disappearance weighed on you, kept you isolated, kept you hardened. As Hera watched you heal, she wiped a tear, happy that a part of her family had returned.
“I love you. I’ve never stopped loving you.” Ezra vowed as he whispered in your ear, these words were for you and you alone.
“I always knew you’d come home. I never stopped loving. I’ll love you until the stars turn cold.” Regardless of anything else, as of right now you were grateful he was home and in your arms.

Summery: you tried to surprise him but instead he surprises you
Warnings :non just burning a Crêpe
Note: okay so I was so happy when I got this request, it isn’t as long as I’d like it to be but sometimes it’s okay
Tumblr media
He would be here any moment, and the Crêpes weren’t even half way through.
You wanted to surprise Thrawn, after the proposal he made to you last week p, and give him something back.
At the thought of Thrawn you looked at the engagement ring resting on your left ring finger, it was a beautiful ring. A silver band with a beautiful blue sapphire, which reminded you of him.
Lost in thoughts you almost forgot about the task at hand, then you smelled something burning.
Being ripped out of your thoughts and quickly taking the burned Crêpe from the pan, you didn’t notice your finance coming home.
“Dear, do you need help.” You jumped and turned around and there he stood. His voice was calm and you could hear a bit of amusement in it, on his face was a beautiful small smile.
“I wanted to surprise you and spoil you today. Seems like it didn’t work.” The dissatisfaction was evident in your voice as you spoke. Thrawn came to you and hugged you. He kissed your hair and stoked your back.
“Ch’eo visot I’m am always spoiled by you, a d you did surprise me cause there is nothing more beautiful than coming home to you and seeing you make it an effort for me.” He pulled back a bit and rested his hand on your cheek, you leaned into his touch and enjoyed the feeling a bit, before closing the distance and placing a quick but sweet kiss onto his lips.
“How about we finish these together, and enjoy them while watching a holomovie.” You smiled warmly at his suggestion and nodded, he moved to grab himself an apron, he took his place beside you and did as you told him to.
You two moved together like a dance, only that this wasn’t a dance but cooking together.
As you placed the final Crêpe onto the plate he watched you, Thrawn was mesmerized by you. He was since the moment he met you, and since last week he was the happiest he’s been. And now you are his bride to be, his mate for life.
He couldn’t wait for you two to get married and starting your own family, he did his research on that topic so he knows that there will be no problems.
As he took off the apron, and cleaned up the kitchen a bit you got everything else ready. You placed the coffee table a bit nearer to the couch, and placed the plate with the Crêpes down behindert the two plates for you and Thrawn.
The only things least were glasses, something to drink and the toppings.
As you made your way to get these things Thrawn was heading towards the couch with two glasses and drinks. You thanked him, and went to get the other things, he was already settled on the couch when you got back. After placing everything down on the table you, settled beside your soon to be husband.
The two of you settle for holomovie, and let the night comfortable fade away while enjoying the Crêpes and the company of each other.

Home isn’t a place, it‘s a feeling.
pairing: Fem!Reader x Ezra Bridger
warnings: none, there’s fluff at the end
word count: 2,7k
summary: Home. Such a simple word and it still was so hard to describe. Since Ezra disappeared from your lives, you didn’t really acknowledge the building you lived in as your home. It all changed though when an unauthorized imperial shuttle caught your attention.
authors note: Finally! I started writing this one last week 😭
however, we were ROBBED of Heras and Ezras hug, literally robbed. anyway, here’s another ff dedicated to our underrated spaceboy c:
enjoy <3
Tumblr media
Home.
Such a simple word.
And it still was so hard to describe.
Most people would say that it’s the place where you grew up.
Your house, your room or your Planet.
It’s meaning being completely forgotten.
To you it was more of an emotion then a place.
Memories and people that defined who you are today.
People that grew very important to you.
People that managed to work together, as a family.
People that made you feel safe.
How long has it been now?
10 years?
10 years since you last saw him?
10 years since you kept your hopes up for the best?
10 unimaginable long years that seemed to never have a happy ending for you?
10 years of living with the fear of not knowing if he survived or not?
If you knew better back then you wouldn’t have let Ezra go this easy as you did.
He told you that he’d be alright, that he’d be careful.
But when the purrgils took off with the Chimarea, jumping into hyperspace, somewhere into the unknown, you couldn’t help but feel helpless.
Helpless because you weren’t able to stop him.
Because you couldn’t do anything more then to watch him go.
That the last ‚I love you‘ he ever heard from you was from your filtered voice trough his comm link.
He was gone and nobody believed in his return, at least not the ones who’d have the resources to bring him back.
Only Hera, Sabine, Ahsoka and you were determined to find him.
When Ahsoka found a map, leading to a unknown galaxy, your hopes of finding him again went up. A feeling of excitement made it’s way back to you, a feeling you didn’t feel for a long time now.
There was still hope.
And when Hera told you that Ahsoka and Sabine made their way to possibly find Ezra, you couldn’t help but feel the most excited you ever felt during the last decade.
Little did you know that today was the day.
-
„I have a strange feeling about something..“
You, Chopper and Jacen were sitting on the ghosts couch, talking about different things.
Jacen often wanted to hear you tell him stories about the rebellion, about your missions, his father, his mother and ‚that guy‘ named Ezra.
He never met him, how could he?
Hearing you all talk about him most of the time confused Jacen, so he decided to take the things into his own hands and try to understand why everyone was so fond of him by hearing your stories about Ezra.
„About what?“
You asked the younger boy while you tried to pick the next story you wanted to tell him.
He just shrugged, looking around and then returning his gaze to you.
„I don’t know.. something just felt off earlier“
Just before you could answer anything to him you heard Heras voice calling out for you.
„y/n! I need you on the main hangar now, an unauthorized shuttle requested to land here“
She said, somehow stressed? But why? That wasn’t something new after all.
„Isn’t this something.. I don’t know… common?“
It was a small shuttle after all?
„It belongs to the empire“
Her voice was stern now, hiding something more important.
The empire? This whole thing just got more interesting.
„… and?“
„The shuttles ID is kinda old..“
This caught your full interest now.
„How old exactly?“
„…“
„Hera?“
„I don’t know how but..“
There was a short break before she continued to speak.
Trying to understand what was happening herself.
„The ID… is registered under Thrawns flagship..“
You expected everything, everything but this.
Your eyes widened at the news, you felt your heart starting to beat faster.
„The Chimaera…?“
„Yes.. this shuttle… somehow managed to return“
Jacen noticed the shift in your behavior, you seemed to be lost in your thoughts.
"Are you still there?"
He heard his mother ask you.
"y/n?"
Knowing that it was some star destroyer that 'took' Ezra away from you, he came to a conclusion of his own.
"That ship.."
He finally catched your Attention, you turned around, looking at him while he tried to find the right words.
"The Chimarea.. was this the ship that... uhmm.."
"Yes"
There was a silent moment between the three of you until Hera decided to speak up again.
„We don’t know who’s flying the shuttle right now but… You may want to find this out so I guess that you should start and make your way to the hangar“
„Okay“
„Take your blasters with you, just in case“
-
You made your way to the hangar. A lot of people were here, everyone holding his blasters tight, waiting for the shuttle to finally land.
Hera stood next to, both of you having your eyes trained on the unexpected visitor.
„Don’t shoot unless they try something stupid and Jacen, you stay behind“
Commanded Hera.
The shuttle now finally touched the hangars floor. The sound of the ramp opening now echoing freely around this place.
It took some seconds for the person to walk out but you soon recognized the stormtroopers armor. It was pretty worn, had a lot of scratches, even some fabric strips holding some parts together. Compared to the other imps, this was the dirtiest armor you’ve ever seen.
The person stepped put of the shuttle, his hands up, signaling that he didn’t want to start a fight.
Everyone including you and Hera raised his blasters, the trooper on gunpoint.
However, something about all of this felt off. Something was familiar to you but you didn’t know what exactly.
Whenever you looked at the armored person in front of you, you couldn’t help but think that it’s presence was familiar.
Not only that, but you felt the person staring at you trough his or hers visor.
Despite not being force sensitive at all, it almost felt like as if the force was trying to tell you something.
The way how the person was walking seemed familiar, even the way how they raised their hands.
Chopper seemed to recognize something though, not much time after the person left the shuttle, he started to roll towards him, you assumed that it was a man.
„Chopper!“
Hera was just as confused as everyone. The droid didn’t hesitate to roll up to this stranger, letting him even pat his head while he gave happy beeps from him for everyone to hear.
Was this really a stranger? Chopper recognized Someone so dear to him to even let him pat his stubborn head.
The first started to murmur, not knowing what to do. You at the other hand tried to solve this mystery.
The shuttle belonged to the Chimaera, the trooper seemed familiar to you and Chopper didn’t waste a second after realizing something you now tried to realize too.
Chimaera.. Chopper…. Stormtrooper.
Wait, this was a Stormtrooper… a Stormtroopers armor.
„Oh my..“
You gasped at the realization, your eyes wide as you let your blasters fall down.
„y/n..?“
Hera was even more confused by now. First her war criminal of a droid starts to warm up to some random stormtrooper who was supposed to be dead and now you seem to see something that she still can’t muster.
„This can’t be..“
You continued.
„I can’t believe this..“
Tears started to form at your eyes, threatening to spill over as you started to walk towards the said ‚trooper‘.
He never really moved his gaze away from you and as you started to walk towards him, he gave Chopper a last head pat before starting to make his way to you too.
„y/n..! What in the force are you doing?“
Hera wanted to go after you but she was stopped by her son.
„Stay back.. and watch“
He said, seeming to also know who the person behind that mask was.
„Tell me.. who is this?“
„You’ll soon find out“
You now just stood inches away from him.
He lowered his hands, standing still, seeming to be overwhelmed by something.
And you knew what that something was, depending if your guess of him was right.
„I can’t believe this..“
You started, looking up to him to where you assumed where his eyes.
„After 10 years…“
You trailed off, moving your hands up to his face, placing them on the helmet as you tears started to spill over.
„You came back…“
There was a shiver in your voice when you managed to break the lock, slowly taking of his helmet.
„Please.. please let it be you“
You removed the helmet as gently as you could, holding it while you found yourself mesmerized once again.
Vibrant blue eyes were looking straight to your eyes. The same loving look you used to see on a daily basis a decade ago.
His hair had grown since the last time you saw him, his curls pressed because of the helmet. He even had a beard.
You were at a loss of words, it was him. Ezra.
Your Ezra.
„Hey y/n… it’s me.. it’s really me..“
He said, his eyes never leaving yours as you let the helmet fall.
As if you were acting by some hidden instinct, you threw your arms around him, taking him into the most heartfelt embrace you’ve ever given to anyone in your whole life.
Your tears had no barriers now as you let them stream down freely.
„Don’t you ever dare to do this again..!“
Was all you managed to say between your sobs.
Ezra didn’t waste any second, wrapping you tight in his arms while you two fell down to your knees, holding each other close.
„Ezra..“
Hera was shocked, speechless, not knowing what the hell was happening right now. Jacen at the other hand smiled, sensing the relief in her. Something he didn’t sense in her for a long time now.
„Given them a moment.. I have a feeling that they need it“
He then said, looking back to the reunited couple.
„I missed you so much“
You heard him say, the shakiest you’ve ever heard his voice.
„The thought of you was the only thing that kept me sane..“
He said while you nuzzled your head in his neck, not wanting to ever let go of him again.
„Knowing that this day would come“
You felt something wet drip on your cheek, you raised your head from where it was resting on his shoulder to look at him.
His eyes were filled with tears. He seemed to be happy, relieved… at peace.
Nobody except him knew what he had to face until he was finally back.
What horrors he had to endure while he was stranded somewhere alone.
Something in his eyes told you that he didn’t care about anything that had happened in the past 10 years, instead they seemed to tell you something else.
Something that the both of you knew.
Everything that mattered right now was that he was back, back by your side.. back to the people that cared for him.
„You’re an idiot.. do you know that?“
You somehow managed to chuckle while you looked at his loving eyes.
And there it was, there was the smirk he used to give you whenever he tried to be romantic.
„I‘m your idiot“
„That’s correct“
The last time you heard his voice was when he used the force to talk to you all for one last time before he disappeared.
It also reminded you that the last time he heard your voice was through the filtered comm link.
„I love you“
You moved your hand to cup his cheek, the once which still held his prominent scars.
And he did it too, he placed his hand on the lower side of your face, his other still wrapped tightly around your body.
„I love you too“
Your faces moved closer and when they were close enough, you connected your lips, sharing a long kiss.
It somehow replaced everything you both could’ve said to each other.
You both didn’t say a word, deepening the kiss while you didn’t let go of each other.
As of you were both scared that the other would vanish the second you’d loose the grip on the other.
Chopper started to beep in a teasing way, catching you both off guard as he managed to get a chuckle from Ezra.
You pulled apart and, while you both still held each other close, you also felt a warm feeling inside you. Safety.
A few seconds passed and the sound of boots walking closer to you got louder.
Ezra looked over your shoulder and his eyes widened again.
„Welcome home.. Ezra“
Hera stood in front of them, fighting against her own tears as she looked at her, technically, ‚adopted son‘.
She knelt down to be on the same level as you two.
„Can I..?“
She asked and you two instantly pulled her closer into your hug.
Let’s just say that it was a very heartwarming reunion.
-
A week passed now since Ezra’s arrival.
You invited him to live with you in your apartment, even offering him the other side of your bed.
Which indeed was an act of true love for you since your most treasured furniture was your bed.
Your sleep being the only thing that you enjoyed.
Considering this, letting him have the other half was indeed something very important to you.
However, there was something different now.
For 10 years you somehow developed a feeling that didn’t seem right.
This was the place where you lived, the place where you spent day and night.
But you never felt complete here.
No matter how much you‘d add there, be it any kind of furniture or decoration, there was something missing.
Something or better.. someone.
With Ezra being back, the building that most of the people would call home, was finally complete.
It’s crazy that you lived here for many years now but you never felt that it was your home. Not until he was again right by your side.
You were cuddled up against him, resting your head on his chest.
It was early in the morning and he was still sleeping.
You at the other hand were already awake, nuzzling your face against him.
The effect he had on you was crazy.
And he made you realize something.
No matter where you were, where you lived or where you stayed.
No matter the conditions.
Wherever you were.. wherever he was with you..
That’d be the place you’d call your home.
Because even if you lived here for many years, you never really felt at home.
But since the moment he returned, this warm feeling of knowing that you had somewhere to go.. the word ‚home‘ instantly regained its meaning for you.
He made you feel safe, loved and cared for.
He was your safe space.
Your everything.
Deep in your heart you knew the answer to the question you used to ask yourself in the past years.
He was your home.
And you were his.
He didn’t tell this to you but when he was back in Perridea, he of corse didn’t feel at home at all.
Not only because he was trapped in another galaxy. No.
He even had his own ‚home‘ when he travelled with his new friends.
He spent 10 years of his life there and not one of those years, not even for a second, he was able to somehow feel as if he had a home there.
Because you weren’t there.
And when he came back, when he walked off that Shuttle.
When he finally looked into your eyes.
He instantly felt something that literal buildings didn’t manage to do.
He felt at home.
In his case, his home wasn’t just a lifeless building… instead it was something bigger… a Person.
The Person he wanted to spend his entire life with.
You.

RIIIGHT! How could I forget, Thrawn the 'I can and will name every insect and flower we pass cause that is just the type of autism I have' guy (the flower one here in honour of that moment with Anakin at the beginning of Alliances when Thrawn starts monologuing about the grass and Anakin just goes like 'thought you were with the military but you go, flower boy' and Thrawn just clarifies that he downloaded the whole flora/fauna data of the planet before leaving his ship xd) [also I stand with autistic Thrawn the coding is just so...THERE]
So real for Aralani assigning staff for the animals Thrawn and Ezra bring in there because Thrawn would totally forget about the basic needs of every living creature ("what do you mean, I cannot pet it 24/7?>:(") And the general idea of the whole fleet kind of getting used to it because it actually calms the Skywalkers is so cute. TwT Especially since most of them are still quite young, children actually who have to help with military operations and the thought of every child having an emotional support animal that may even stay by their side is actually so adorable.
And they would totally take turns teaching Thrawn! Not only because one can only fanthom a certain amount of his bullshit ("NOOO, you may not do as you think just because the reasoning of the politicians seems irrational to you!" *sprays Thrawn with water*) but also because this man just asks so. many. questions. Like he's the guy in the back of the class you always hoped was sick on the day you had to hold a presentation cause his questions sucked more than yhe one your teacher would ask you. XD love him for that though but he drives Eli, Ezra and Aralani crazy with coming up with the most absurd problem one could possibly imagine.
And I also hope that we'll see something like that in the Ahsoka show!
You are so right. XD Ezra loves to tease both of them with it though. He cannot wrap his head around Eli's doubts whether Thrawn actually likes him because to Ezra it is so obvious that Eli is very important to Thrawn but he also won't miss out on any opportunity to mock Yhrawn for not being able to actually TALK about his emotions for once. His favourite activity becomes putting Thrawn and Eli into situations in which any normal being would totally lose it just to test how much it takes to get Thrawn to talk about his feelings. Eventually he realizes that's not how it works but the whole Chiss Ascendancy GASPED when Thrawn walked up to Ezra one day and asked him "what the actual fuck he was up to" in the thickest Wild Space accent ever (let's not forget ELI was the one who taught him basic. And let's not forget that Thrawn taught Anakin local swear words on Mokivj. Let's especially not forget about the last part because I feel like no one heard Thrawn ever swear in his life).
Also take this as an official request to make "the giggle gang" the official name for Ezra and Eli.
And I need to catch up on a few Legends books as well! I can totally recommend starting off with the 'Heir to the Empire' trilogy given the fact that it's probably not only the most popular one but also the literal quote about Thrawn from the trailer. ^=^
After reading Treason again I just wanna say that I'm convinced Thrawn was buzzing with joy when Ezra decided to yeet both of them into the Unknown Regions.
