So castiel is actually based on a real angel cassiel. In the original text, cassiel was an archangel who watched over humanity with little to no interference.

He's also the angel of tears and temperance and is also the angel of saturn/Saturday, not Thursday (Chuck can't get his damn kids' birthdays right), but he's also associated with the moon which makes the fact that castiels first appearance was at night so much more interesting.

But when people used to pray to him, it would be during times of stress, asking him for guidance or to "turn their tears of stress into tears of joy," which is what Dean prays for most of the time during the show.

He's also a prince?? He's the prince of the 7th heaven and the prince of the orders of powers.

Idk. I just wish they would have stuck to cassiel more because I would love to see castiel as a prince. (I need fanart right neow)
