im sort of reworking evoluia a bit since im finally working on a third game- I sorta wanna solidify characters throughout the ages! starting with Convict because hes always my starter material. Notes on his changes below cut.
OG Convict - the original! the one with the most 'iconic' design! - He looks the most buff but this is the least healthy version. His genetics make it so he's has a good layer of fat, this version of Convict overworks his body training. I intentionally want him to look gangly and weird but im not sure if I capture that correctly. - Most of his clones are based off this look, with thirdvicts body. Thirdvict - third game convict. the third games are supposed to be the final character arcs for all the characters. So they're the last 'main' games, anything else after is just Prisma and Creatures adventures (of course convict isnt going to stop fighting but hes done world saving). - At this point hes a lot happier- he still struggles, of course, but this version of convict is a lot more 'chill', more healthy. He's not thriving. But he's not as bad as before. So he starts gaining weight like he should have. - His hair grows out, I wanted to make it look like a lions mane because its a nice way to highlight his masculinity. Its also an inbetween point with Dadvict. Dadvict - this one isn't in any games. Really just kinda exists for flavour, maybe flashbacks if his children get their own games. But for the most part, Primevict is seen for those. - he hasn't quite learned how to get rid of his resting bitch face yet, but Convict is much happier, and focuses more on his family in these years. - He still likes to wrassle but he's not going to do anything that would risk removing him from his childrens lives. - More weightgain as he gets older as a sign of growing health, and age. - Hair grows more because I find it an easy way to showcase age, tbh. Primevict - also known as 'grandpa' convict. But don't be fooled he's still pretty young here, that's why his hair hasn't started to darken yet, unlike his baby parents. (idiot who doesnt know his animal DNA gave him a lifespan of like, 400 years). - Primevict has a lot more body hair. Years and years of testosterone, mixed with old age allowed him to get to this point. - He replaced a lot of his body with prosthetics, finally comfortable with the idea of doing so. Shapeshifting into shadow animals is cool, but he's never been comfortable in his own flesh with 'phantom limbs'. Actual, physical mass feels a lot better to have than just turning into a shadow, you know? - He's fucking thriving in this era, he's surrounded by love and a very different person he was when he was younger. - He has half a prosthetic face because I was originally wanting to make a dadvict design with a missing eye, and he'd 'replace' it. It's supposed to look like a face half covered in shadow, which is still fitting even if he never lost an eye. - prosthetics are themed after different animals, the spots being 'dots' but also resembling scales, and the golden parts of his arms looking like insect chitin. - Old people in Evoluia are generally supposed to look cooler as they're more experienced with life. So I made Primevict look pretty cool. Deadvict - called deadvict because by the time this version is seen he's already dead. - this is only relevant to Copys story where you get a glimpse of this version. Convict died somewhere in his 200's mysteriously, after years of wallowing in loneliness. Copy was his final, greatest creation. - Deadvict essentially saw everyone he loved pass on, including his own children and grandchildren. He watched his family grow to a point where he couldn't keep track of them, and no longer was even able to tell he was related to them. With ARK in a 60 or so year upgrade, he was by himself with only ghosts of his grand life before. - his hair grows black with age. - I also made his hair look wispy and ghostly, because, well, at this point that's pretty much what he is. A trace of the past. - His ending is very bittersweet. **all convicts are still muscular, they just gain layers of fat over it

My other oc group did not get too much attention, but that okay, my ocs are made for me, anyways it’s gotten me in the mood to talk about my other incredibly self indulgent ocs, this time my group of superheroes
Now, the set up is v specifically the future (and a ton of it a homage or whatever to DC characters and stuff because this is my self indulgent stuff), like decades after the first superhero group was formed and now their group is composed of mainly the grandchildren from that first group
Which “grandchildren” doesn’t sound like that much time has passed, but with the main group’s powers including some kind of “slow aging” power, which their children inherited, and the grandparents and parents both had their kids way later in life, it’s actually been a significant amount of time since the first group was first formed
That first group is something like a legend to people, not only was it unheard of for superheroes to even exist before them, but they had done a ton of good fighting for the rights of everyone, like mutants and stuff, leaving everyone with this hugely idealized version of what they must have been like as well as leaving behind huge shoes for their grandchildren and other young heroes to fill
The reason why their parents didn’t have those shoes to fill is because the original group was still around when they were fighting, so no one was expecting them to take over, but eventually by the time the grandkids grew into crime fighting age there was only one of the original heroes left (I’ll talk about them in a bit)
There’s actually been a ton of older heroes disappearing, everyone has been chalking it up to either their age or they just “weren’t as good as the originals,” and it’s been happening slowly enough over time that it hasn’t raised any alarm bells, so now for the core group there’s only young heroes that are still technically minors (so like a young Justice League) and that one original hero who is still left behind
I’m not gonna get into every member because that would take. forever. so I’m just gonna talk about a few of them, starting with:
The Main Hero’s son (yeah I still haven’t named some of my favorite and longest lasting ocs, sue me.), essentially the Main Hero is like Superman except if he were a huge fucking dick, not evil, just a dick. He was seen as the leader and founder of the group, and it’s his legacy that everyone tries to live up to (he was actually a bully and all the heroes he worked with hated him, but he did do crime fighting well)
Anyways this is about his son, yeah a majority of the other characters are grandkids, but Main Hero had a way better slow aging power and only had his young son left. So his son is almost a perfect carbon copy of him, same powers, same looks, but even though his son tries to do everything to live up to his dad’s expectations, the truth is, he’s not actually sure he wants to be what his dad wants, which is for his son to become the new leader of the group
Unlike everyone else in the group, this kid was never actually given a choice on whether or not he even wanted to be a hero, much less what kind of hero he wanted to be, most of his struggles are of trying to be a leader to the group when he’s not only bad at it but he hates it, trying to figure out happened to his dad (disappeared recently, his disappearance is what starts to make people think something is up), and who his mom is (hidden parentage, as far as anyone knows, Main Hero didn’t have a wife)
Next is BB (nickname to make it easier to tell everyone apart through text), I call her that because when I think about her, I just straight up think about Bumblebee (she was one of my favorites in the og teen titans cartoon), she is actually a mutant and a granddaughter of one of the first mutants who became a hero (her family actually has normal human life spans so those grandparents became heroes some time after the group first formed), she has formed a lot of her hero identity around the Main Hero, because again everyone looks up to that guy and his legacy, and he was known as being such a great hero
She’s actually a natural leader and a much better choice than the previous kid, most of her struggles come from everyone (civilians, not those in the group) wanting Main Hero’s son to take over, but she doesn’t want to just step aside and let him have the title when not only is he not a good fit, but she wants to show how far mutants have come along that the core hero group has a mutant leader now, she’s also struggling with finding out that the hero she’s spent her entire childhood looking up to was actually a huge fucking douche who built his platform on seeming like he cared about vulnerable people when he actually didn’t
Next is a character sort of based off of M’gann (Miss Martian from Young Justice League) in that she’s an alien with mind reading and flying powers with a sweet and shy personality, but that’s where the similarities end, I picture her more as with blue skin, not those other powers, except slow aging by human’s standards, and instead of having an uncle who was part of the main league, she has a grandpa who was part of the main core group, but he wasn’t one of the original members, he joined later on, and he went missing when she was just an infant
Due to alien reasons, her family has no hope in her accomplishing much as a hero*, and she wants so badly to live up to her grandpa’s heroic name and be someone he would be proud of
(*I know it’s not the same, but explaining the alien stuff of my made up universe would turn this from a long post to a way too long post, so the best way to explain, continuing with the M’gann way of looking at her, it would be like if everyone in the family had been a green Martian and she was born a white Martian (I know that’s not how it works in that universe but bear with me), except hating her for being a “white Martian” is just a personal family thing instead of a cultural planet thing)
What she doesn’t actually know is that her grandpa, before his disappearance, loved her unconditionally and actually favored her over every other family member, he saw her birth as a sign that he did something right, due to alien cultural reasons, he considered her good luck
She’s also exactly like him in personality when he first started off as a hero
The only person who knows this is the last remaining hero of the “golden age” who was best friends with that man, and it kills them inside that his granddaughter is exactly like him, and they just miss their best friend so much
I know I said I was gonna talk about that hero, but (even tho I call the other hero Main Hero) this one actually is like,, the protagonist to me, and I have way too much I wanna talk about them with, so I’m just gonna schedule this post and maybe continue it with more info on that character another day!
#no fandom#superheroes and supervillains in general#superheroes#not really super villains in this one sorry#one of my incredibly self indulgent worlds#god I really gotta start naming my ocs at some point#anyways thoughts of these heroes have been infecting my mind for years so I hope they infect yours#any questions are more than welcome these are my babies I love talking about them

Rats are the product of anyone incapable of having children of their own (physically). So for people who want kids, a rat will slowly form from discarded items or hair, eyelashes, ect and give them a child. That child become genetically related to them through magical fuckery.
You know what? Fuck Remy, I don't need him. I don't need him in my life to be happy, I have shrooms for that. And beer. I can be just fine on my own. Remy if you're seeing this fuck you, I hope you have fun with your silly little restaurant knowing I'm doing just fine with out you.
#fun fact the first rat was a gift from garfield to a childless god#she wished so much for a child so he made a being just for her#since then it is common place for anyone who cannot bear children but desires so to have a rat form#by the way this doesn't stop rats from reproducing with each other to make other rats#those would be the grandchildren of the og parent

So I thought of an au where the madrigal grandchildren got temporary look-alikes to protect them from Alma and the village.
These look-alikes are the "done with the bs" version of the madrigal grandchildren and children. I can't decide the timeline, the look-alikes either came out post-movie or after Casita fell.
Mirabel's "twin" is named Bel
Dolores's "twin" is named Lolo
Isabela's "twin" is named Bela
Luisa's "twin" is named Lulu
Camilo's "twin" is named Milo(or Carlos, I haven't decided)
Bruno's "twin brothers" are named Hernando and Jorge
Pepa's "twin" is named Pepi or Pep
Julieta's "twin" is named Julie
Antonio's "twin" is named tonito
The husbands don't know what to do at this point in life.
The only way you can tell them apart is by their constant scowls/glares, darker colors, and messier/ripped-up clothes. They kind of look like the "evil" version of Bruno but still themselves.
Bel for example:
Normal side
Scary version
They got fangs, slightly pale skin, a 7-foot frame, and claws. They only show their claws, and fangs, and enhance their height when they're extremely angry(which is often)
When they aren't cussing villagers(or alma) out they usually just hang around their OG counterparts and are shockingly calmer and nicer. They don't force their OG counterparts to relax but they don't let them work either.
Pepi encourages Pepa's storms
"stop hiding your emotions, let them be big, let them be PROUD"
Milo doesn't let Camilo transform or babysit unless he truly wants to.
"just be yourself hermano, if they don't like it, f*ck em"
Lolo doesn't allow Dolores to listen in on gossip anymore and they both will spend their day reading or gushing about Mariano.
"stop invading other people's privacy it's rude and disrespectful...let's go see Mariano instead"
*lolo yanks Dolores to Mariano's house*
Bela let Isabela be wild, no more senorita perfecta
"YES, Mora cactuses, more carnivorous flowers, more colors, NO MORE SENORITA PERFECTA". Oh yeah, Bela called off the proposal
Lulu doesn't let Luisa lift anything that's even remotely heavy
"Sit here" Lulu points down at the peaceful grassy meadow
"ok" Luisa sits down
"I don't want you lifting anything for the rest of the day...now relax"
Julie doesn't let Julieta cook for the village anymore
"those people have never done anything for you except eat your food, NO MORE"
Bel constantly reminds Mirabel of her worth,
"you are more special without a gift Hermana and you need to see that, all you did was try, but did alma see it? no. Did anyone else besides your parents see it? no. You are strong Mirabel, don't you ever forget it"
Tonito isn't really angry but if Alma or anyone tries to make Antonio do any work he'll snap at them, otherwise he's just as sweet as Antonio.
"I don't want you around him, you're a meanie, DON'T make me repeat myself" *death stare*
With Hernando and Jorge...you better not even look at Brno wrong let alone say something wrong
"is that guy staring at you?" Jorge asks Bruno while looking at whoever's looking at them straight in the eye
"oh no guys please don't do this" Bruno already knows what's about to happen
"Do they have a problem?" Hernando starts to puff out his chest and gives the person the death stare
"I think he has a problem" Jorge replies
"let's give him a problem then" Hernando adds while marching up to the person, fully showing himself.
The look-alikes can be invisible when they please but it's kind of a rare occasion, they only are invisible when they don't feel like interacting with people.
Like I said before, when they aren't threatening people they are usually just protective and angry older siblings.
The madrigal husbands, Alma, and the village during these events
I call it the protectors au
Me. I wouldn’t need one cause I personally wouldn’t let nobody talk to me any kind of way. But regardless, this is still cool‼️‼️ Ngl, if I saw any of them mfs I would. Not interact with them tbh. Call me a coward but I’d be scared out of my mind 💀
Mfs are always scowling. Husbands are confused asfffffff 😭

Enhypen Little Angels Series: When they find out their s/o is pregnant
warnings: cursing, mentions of miscarriage and hospitals, collapsing, vomiting and couvade syndrome (for Sunghoon and Sunoo)
this happens before the og enha little angels
taglist: @skyaura-koo @serendipityclick @en-sun @envirae @exulansis-eun @gamezzzz
Pls tell me if I forgot anyone from the taglist and I'll fix it immediately.
I'll try to fix any grammar mistakes. Sorry for the delay
word count: 1,523 words
Lee Heeseung:
“Heeseung... What if i'm really pregnant?” Mina said bouncing on her feet.
Being nervous wasn't the words that she would use to describe how she feeling at the moment.
“If you are pregnant, then that means that our child will have the most amazing mother and the most amazing father.” He set his hands around Mina's waist, then accommodated his head on her shoulder.
“I'm not talking about that.” She sighed, looking at the ring on her finger.
“You mean... the loss?” Mina nodded, her gaze was sad and her eyes were glossy.
“It wasn't your fault jagi, and I know that you fear that the same thing will happen again, but I promise you that everything will turn out for good.” Heeseung placed a soft kiss on his wife's lips, then unified his forehead with hers.
“I think... I'll go check the test.” Mina said before placing a kiss in Heeseung's cheek and going to the bathroom to see the results.
He waited a few seconds and then...
“Heeseung, I'm actually pregnant!”
Park Jongseong
“How many times do I have to tell you that I'm fine?” Bella said looking at IV hooked on her hand.
Jay kept walking around the hospital room, he was a little bit mad, he thought that Bella hadn't taken care of herself as he told her to.
“As many times as you want, because it's not gonna work for me, or make me feel better.” He kept pacing around back and forth, trying to keep himself calm.
“If you keep rambling nothing will be solved.” Jay huffed, as he pinched the skin of his left arm.
“And if you keep dismissing your health nothing will get solved!”
Bella groaned, sometimes Jay could be way to stubborn.
“How many times do I have to tell you that I've been taking care of myself.” She pouted.
“It doesn't seem like that to me.”
Just in time the doctor appeared on the room.
“What is it doctor? Is she healthy?” She smiled at Jay and then at Bella.
“Well, there isn't any problem... Except that you have high levels of HCG.”
They both looked at the doctor completely confused.
“This high level of HCG only appears on pregnancy. Congratulations, you are pregnant.”
If they were confused before then, I don't know how to describe how they felt by the moment.
“Huh?!”
Shim Jaeyun
“Do you think is something bad?”
Jake shook his head, while looking around the doctor's office. He was way more anxious than what he showed, but he tried his best to stay calm for Teagan.
It had been days since Teagan started vomiting and having nausea, to the point that she spent most days locked in the bathroom and nearly fell down the stairs because of how dizzy she felt.
“I'm done! I'm taking you to the doctors!”
Teagan looked at him dumbfounded. Why did he wanted to take her to the doctors so suddenly.
“But I feel fine.”
“Being fine is not nearly falling down the stairs because of dizziness.”
Teagan hated hospitals with all her might, and always tried everything to avoid them, but guess who still drag her to the hospital? Jake!
The doctor finally entered the office, making the couple turn their gaze to him.
He gave them a small smile, before saying:
“I already have your lab results...”
Jake grabbed his wife's hand, trying to calm himself down a little and also reassuring her that everything will be okay.
In the best case he thought you had a stomach bug. In the worst case you could some kind of terminal illness.
... But gladly those weren't the cases.
“It seems like you have high levels of human chorionic gonadotropin.” Teagan looked at the doctor with a dumbfounded gaze.
“What those that mean?” Teagan looked at the doctor and then looked at Jake who was in shock, but then spoke.
“It means... that you are pregnant.”
Park Sunghoon
... It started when Sunghoon started having symptoms. Hyeyoung noticed how tired Sunghoon was does days and how he started having cravings... A lot of cravings.
“And can you please add an extra order of fries please?” “Thank you.”
He hanged up on the call while Hyeyoung looked at him weirded out.
“You sure you are okay?” She walked up to him, seating beside him on the sofa.
“Yeah, why wouldn't I be?”
“Well... because you are acting like a pregnant woman.”
Sunghoon giggled a little, before he realised that...
“Hyeyoung? When was the last time that you had your period?” The girl looked down for moment, and then she finally realised what was going on.
Now they were both looking at the positive pregnancy on their hands.
“Oh shit!”
“OH HOLY SHIT!”
Kim Sunoo
Another case of couvade syndrome...
“Ah! Noona! Sunoo-Hyung just fainted!” Aera ran to the studio and saw the boys fanning Sunoo to make him feel better.
Sunno saw Aera's worried expression and then smiled at her to ease her up.
“I'm fine jagiya. I'm just tired.” He stood up with the help of his oldest members.
He walked up to Aera, who changed her expression suddenly, she started feeling way to dizzy and all off the sudden she lost her balance and collapse on Sunoo's.
The rest of the members started shouting worriedly and asked the staff to call medical help.
“I guess we have the same condition or something.” Sunoo spoke when they where both in the doctors office waiting for both of their results.
“It's probably the flu, or a cold is kicking our butts.” Aera chucked and Sunoo giggled a little.
The doctor entered the room, with the results on his hands.
“Well it seems like Sunoo is pretty healthy and there is no reason for your collapse, except that you have couvade syndrome.” He frowned at the doctors words wanting a clear explanation.
“It's when a partner presents the same symptoms as their pregnant partner.” Aera was the one frowning at that moment. Was the doctor saying what she thought he was saying?
“I'm sorry, but my wife is not...”
“The fuck?! She's pregnant?!”
Yang Jungwon
This boy rushed to the hospital the moment that he got a call from her mom, saying that Mirae had fallen down the stairs.
He freaked out, but when he got there Mirae explained him that she had blacked out and that made her fall down three steps of stairs.
“Are you sure you don't feel pain or anything?” Jungwon played with her hair, while he sat on her hospital bed.
“Wonie, I'm fine, it's just a small bruise”
“And a concussion.” Mirae's mother blurted that out of nowhere. Which made the girl murmured a "Mom" angrily.
“Ah! I guess I'll stay up with you all night.” He said rubbing her shoulders.
“I also have something else to tell you...” She grabbed a strand of hair and started playing with it.
“Hmm?” Jungwon payed all his attention ontu her.
“The doctor did a few tests... Everything's okay, but...” She passed and stayed quiet for while.
“What's wrong Rae, you can tell me anything, remember?” Jungwon smiled showing his cute dimples.
Mirae sighed, inhaled... Then exhaled.
“I'm pregnant.”
Jungwon seemed in shock by what she had just blurted out, but then started laughing immediately.
He was happy, obviously he was... But then he paused.
“When did I made you a baby?”
Nishimura Riki
They where both visiting Niki's parents in Japan, they where on vacations so they used that to pay a visit to them.
Mei Lin wasn't feeling that good throughout the whole way to her in laws house, she felt like throwing up the ride in the plane, but she thought it was just motion sickness.
“You sure you are okay? If you don't feel well enough, we can stay at the hotel and go tomorrow.” Niki wasn't that sure of what to do at the moment, but he thought it would pass in a few hours.
“No, I think I still feel bad because of the flight, but it'll pass in a few minutes, I promise.” She said patting Niki's head before calling over a taxi.
They got home pretty fast and had dinner. They were both enjoying their time, but something about the food just made Mei feel nauseated. So she covered her mouth and nose with her left hand.
The family noticed pretty fast and Niki's sister was already looking for a pill to calm Mei's stomach down.
While Niki was rubbing her back, his mother commented.
“You know, this reminds me of the symptoms I had when I had a few weeks of pregnancy with Riki.” She laughed it off, but something about just made the rest of the family including Mei freeze.
“I think... I'll just go get a pregnancy test.”
Everybody's eyes widened and the thought of their daughter in law being pregnant was kinda shocking.
An hour later, a positive pregnacy test was on the couple's hands.
Niki and Mei were both in complete shock, they were happy of course... But still shocked.
“I wasn't expecting you guys to take me seriously when I said «I want grandchildren as soon as possible.»”

Character Recap! Gen 2
After a good break to sort my life out, I decided that it would be good to do an update on everybody (yup, this is one of those posts) Why, you ask? Because I enjoy driving myself crazy by creating unnecessary amounts of work for myself - but y’all knew that already 😂 Keeping in line with that theme, one night at 4am I decided that I wanted to revamp my character pages (which ended up being my whole Tumblr theme) which would require updated pictures of everybody. I don’t know what possessed me to dredge up my old coding knowledge - if you can even call it knowledge- but I’m still in the process of finishing the character pages for gen 3 because there’s so many of them. 😅
Even though we’re on gen 3 officially, these characters are still mentioned in some parts of the story, and I also find it hard to let go of these since they’re my OG 8, the first sims born in game that I’ve ‘raised’. I’ve only just had the time to sit down and calculate peoples ages, meaning that the first 2 couples should technically still be adults, but I’m not reversing the aging process - we’re too far in 😂
I’ve updated my character’s page for gen 2 (gen 3 is almost done, but this isn’t about them 😂) I decided to add the ‘labels’ for each couples (where they fall on the fundie scale) because then it would align with what I do for gen 3′s character pages and how I label them. I tried to summarize all the ‘yikes’ bits of the relationships with the bulletpoints to truly highlight the 🥴-iness of it all you know?
Allan & Casandra
Meet Allan (54) and Casandra Collins (51) - Here’s a quick recap of their relationship:
They met at Family Bible Camp at 22 and 18 respectively, and were married 5 months later - both had their first kiss at the altar.
They continued to live as quiverfull fundamentalists after their marriage, subscribing to conservative biblical modesty standards, meaning that Casandra (and their subsequent daughters) wear skirts and dresses. They pledged to allow the Lord to decide their family size which led to 15 children - 13 living and 2 miscarriages.
Allan works as the Head Pastor at Newcrest Baptist Church along with being on the Board of Directors for the Centre For Learning and Life, whilst Casandra homeschools their children still at home and ministers to the women of the church in her duties as the Pastor’s wife. When she’s not doing that she’s visiting her grandchildren that live in town, or traveling to see the children and grandchildren that live elsewhere.
Here they are with all their children:
Back L-R: Adalynn (32), Barrett (31), Macie (31), Zoe (29), Maggie (25), Reece (24), Beckett (23)
Front L-R: Amira (22), Priscilla (20), Annette (20), Allan (54), Casandra (51), Charles (18), Parker (17), Ashton (15)
Branden & Lea
Meet Branden (52) and Lea (50) Collins - A recap of their relationship
They met when Lea’s family visited Newcrest Baptist so her father could give the sermon as the visiting pastor when he was 17 and she was 16, and they were married a year later - they saved their first kiss for their wedding day.
They had trouble having children for the first year and a half of their marriage, eventually having their twin girls Abbey and Brittany (28), their son Tanner (25) joined the family 3 years later.
Branden is now a retired Christian novelist, whose books have been bestsellers and he travels from church to church to run writing seminars for authors who are hoping to make it in the business. Lea stays at home and tends to her garden now that all their children are grown. She started the garden in their time before children and that garden has grown to be a local hit - she’s been selling the honey made by their bees and runs workshops to teach young women how to start their gardens to promote healthy eating. She travels along with Branden when he's teaching somewhere, and if she doesn’t she’s visiting her grandchildren.
Here they are with their children:
Front L-R: Abbey (28), Brittany (28), and Tanner (25)
Claire & Ryan
Meet Claire (51) and Ryan Paulson (55) - Here’s their recap:
They met when Claire travelled with a music group to perform at Ryan’s home church when she was 20 and he was 24, they were engaged 3 months later and married 3 months after that - they too had their first kiss at the altar.
They too pledged to allow the Lord to decide their family size and ended up having 10 children, like their parents they subscribe to conservative biblical modesty standards, meaning that the girls in the family wear skirts and dresses only.
Ryan runs his own IT business whilst Claire is a renowned Christian musician. Despite her immense talent, Claire’s main focus was and still is homeschooling her children and being a keeper of the home. As Ryan is his own boss, he is able to travel with Claire whenever she travels to teach of perform, she’s taught their children (who’ve seemingly inherited her talent) and the family performs at various events.
Here they are with their children:
Back L-R: Carter (30), Valentina (28), Alan (27), Celeste (26), Kristyn (24), Sabrina (24)
Front L-R: Jarrod (20), Zachary (18), Conner (15), Jarrett (15)
Danielle & Sebastian
Meet Danielle (51) and Sebastian (53) Hunt - Here’s a recap of their lives:
They met when he moved to Newcrest for his Veterinary residency and started attending their church, where during their courtship they both realised they had a shared love of nature and animals. 6 months later they were married, at the ages of 28 and 30.
They struggled to have children, and when Danielle did get pregnant 3 years into the marriage they ended up losing that pregnancy in the 3rd trimester - Danielle was pregnant with a baby girl they named Sarah. The next year they got pregnant and had their son James (19), and 4 years later they had their daughter Gabriela (15).
Sebastian runs a Vet Clinic in Brindleton Bay and Danielle stays at home to homeschool Gabriela, she does work at the clinic when she has the time and is responsible for the bookkeeping.
Here’s their family:
Elaine & Taylor
Meet Elaine (48) and Taylor (49) Godwin - Here’s a recap of their lives so far:
They met when Taylor moved to Newcrest to be a commuter into the city for his job as an engineer, and started attending their church. They courted for a year before marrying at the ages of 24 and 25.
They had their daughter Kyra (23) a year into their marriage, followed by twins Rory and Ruby Rae (17) 6 years later, Ava Grace (15) was born 2 years after the twins, and the youngest Amelia (11) was born 4 years after Ava.
Taylor works as a mechanical engineer whilst Elaine uses her teaching degree to homeschool the children and teach at the local homeschool co-op. Elaine wanted her children to have the experience of being taught by more than one person, but wanted control of their curriculum, meaning that the co-op was the best thing for them.
Here’s their family:
Fletcher & Cara
Here’s Fletcher (45) and Cara Collins (44) - Here’s a recap of their lives:
They met at Cara’s university when Fletcher was 22 and Cara was 20 and married 3 years later at the ages of 24 and 23 respectively. They set their own standards and therefore kissed before marriage. 7 years into their marriage they had their only child, a son that names James Lee (14)
Whilst Fletcher was raised in a conservative, fundamentalist household, Cara was raised in a less strict conservative Christian home and they chose to realign with less strict rules for their lives.
Fletcher works as a Sergeant for the Newcrest Police Department and Cara works as a fundraising specialist for the local Conservative party in Newcrest.
Here’s their family:
Grayson and Keira
Meet Grayson (42) and Keira (40) Collins - Here’s a recap of their lives:
They met when Keira moved to Newcrest to work as a Nurse in the pediatrics ward at Newcrest General hospital, Grayson had begun his rotations and they were in the same orientation group. Keira also joined Newcrest Baptist, their relationship blossomed from there and married after dating for a year and a half at the ages of 26 and 24.
They were open to having as many children as the Lord saw fit to provide, and they had their son Matthew (14) 2 years into their marriage, followed by their son Archie (11) 3 years later. There were complications during Archie’s birth that lead to Keira having a partial hysterectomy to save her life, meaning that their family is complete with their 2 boys.
Grayson works as an Obstetrician/Gynaecologist at Newcrest General, and Keira worked as a Nurse until they had their children. They’ve chosen to homeschool their children until high school, after which they enroll them in a private Christian high school. Once Archie the youngest moves into high school, Keira plans to return back to work at the hospital.
Here’s their family:
Harley & Gabriel
Meet Harley (42) and Gabriel (45) Barnard - Here’s a recap of their relationship:
They met at a dinner party in San Myshuno, they became fast friends and started dating a year after they met. They dated for 2 years before getting married at the ages of 28 and 21.
Harley was the first of her female siblings to go to college, she has a 1st class degree in Fine Arts with a focus on Fashion. She’s also the first of her female siblings to work a full time job. After going to college, Harley realised she was more like her older brother Fletcher and his wife in terms of beliefs, so when she married Gabriel they both agreed that in terms of beliefs that they’d attend a conservative non-fundamentalist church in San Myshuno. They both chose not to have children, so they spend time with their nieces and nephews, as well as the children their nieces and nephews.
Gabriel works as the Head Chef of a 5 star restaurant in the city, and Harley is the Editor-in-Chief of the popular fashion magazine ‘Myshuno Madness’

The statute of anne the first copyright law was made to encourage creativity and it lasted 14 years then that was changes to 28 years with option to renew for another 28. 1976 saw it rise to 42 years and 1998 its now 95 years in the US. Who benefits? Disney mostly, they lobbied hard for that bill so the og mickey mouse from steamboat willie doesnt become public domain hence why its called the Mickey Mouse protection act of 1998. Curious to see what disney does in 2024 when he goes public domain.
Nothing good I'm sure.
Copyrights can hold 95-120 years after the creation of the work depending on a few variables. You think that sounds bad, that's only for works published before 1978.
Works published after 1978 hold their copyrights 70 years after the author's death.
For reference, if something went into public domain this year (2019) with today's laws, assuming the work was made when the creator was, say, 25, and using today's average life expectancy, that work would have been made in 1894, and only just coming into public domain this year.
If a work were popular enough, that means a creator's children (or whoever holds the copyright) could continue collecting their parent's royalties until they die (and then the creator's grandchildren could collect those royalties for decades after that). Like I understand the need to protect innovators and creators but that's overboard.
The fact is, most works aren't going to be very popular 125 years after its creation. Any fans of the work are likely to have died around the same time as the creator, perhaps give or take a few decades.
It's not entirely unlikely for a story to die with it's author, but these copyright laws all but guarantee it, and I weep for what Disney might do as they approach the day of the Mouse's emancipation.

I was falling asleep in my html class so i thought it would be fun to try and transcribe my professor
I’m glad i don’t get paid for this
it will og thoruhg an mak now i the ok and are sppost used once ans onw watoyu to hony hae one instance of tat i per pge bt lie is aid eb prbosers have this intelligence built into them so we'll just go ahead and suck dick asshole this according the book the book says you shoud really only hae on e id per page asicaly this is aying her id pair one id para one id=para one yeehaw we're gonnacenter ot and change it to red and it does tiat over there and another thing we can use and this is the one that they would reommend they wo yyou woud use multiple times is the .para1 the dot stands for calss so you have this class and so we would have to change id to class and when you run it nothing chanegs nothing should have changed thankfully we're calling it by class naem and i f you thin aobu tit if your class was books so you cald have like 12 different 2 div element with the class books as part of its bulild i [ bit isode eacj p tse dive elements id of boook 1 and so as boook 1 woul dhave certain attributes to it or you go for like genre and you go for action book you know colors that made it look ike action or colors thatmade it look like drama change the font and sizes and stuff thats just another way of thinking about it uh lets seeyou can also add ave a selctor that isnt an element oh its a class never mind how did i work this so lets do this here i wanna chagne something up real quck so we're gonna make antoehr class called red and so when we run that our paragraphs are set up as um center (do you need a regular olumn after center) yes that would help but theres nothing after regular class so now when we run it now we have a center class and we hav ea red class okay so center red self explanatory now if we wwanted to we could also go into the calss and ahdd red if we wante and run it there nothing that asy syhta you ant have ceretered red bold italizzied whateer you coud add multiple ones you sepearate them with a space you dont need to use commas lets do okay so the h1 header tag over theres what colors it gonna be and it comes down here to this rule for h1 and the last thing it reads for h1 is green and then it goes int the body for the text so order matters so order matters now you han hav h1 n msthnd rdry font familes set snad margins set anbd backgrounds set and down ere you just come here and change the color all the other declarations you made up here and will still mtake effect its just that it will change the things in that order so uhh whts a good background color for blue (black) well go with yellow i like yellow so the backgrounds still yellow but the colros not ble because down here we redfined the color to green i could hae 12 different declaratinons down ehre in one rule but its not gonna change the color because its overruled by this one so oh i donno if i mentioned but also your ruloes have also the uh the culry pointy brackets and the front and the end so lets do something os this type of code right ere is called embedded code becase your embedding your source sss styles insid the same document theres also inline coding we can also go style= and inside the style we can say "background" is red and so uh you can use the style attribut eto come down eher and change the backgorun dto chang ethe so it follow sht esame convention p here bu you dont use the angle curly brackets you just use the in html you just use the html qute sbut yu still gotta use the quotes space but margin of five margin colon 5px to set the margin nowup here we set the ackgroud to the h1 o yellow so the question is now that we have this inlinecss code is this inline coe gonna change it to red or is to gonna stay yellow say that with authority yes it will chagne it because you read the scirp yyo read the css script in the head but it comes down to load thte page so down here we gonna cange it and so lets chang ethat to 25 so you can se whereas you ca have multple so you can have 25 250 different attributes that owuld be horrendous as an inline code if you ahve more than 2 or 3 you might want to have a linked file for your htm code if your doing we;ll well get int that in a bit later so yes you can hav emultiple on inline and since whitespae doesnt matter if you wanted to you could come over her eand clean it up and make it a litle bit nicer but oyu dont have to it can all go one line uh mkay so here we;re saying the sma ething we're taking a pragrah and adding class syle center with it wheras this h1 tag down it is class center as you can see it ddnt get affected its setill the default text what w'er syeing here is anyparagraphy that as the class center will cange the text so yo ca n build you can have a paragraph dot center dob old dotitalicised and as long as you have a class thats class dot center dot bold dodt italicized so whats this allowying you to do si drill own deeper to pick spceific amounts of your code to maek ajdustments deeper so we talked abot the dot calss talked about th ahshtag id theres uh the astersk the star which means select allso if you sue th asterisk that will effect everything on the page and i would recocomendd if yu werer using that ot use it at the very top cause if you go through and write twelvehundred lines and put a star at the end well its just gonna do that to everything on the pageyou can pick a specific element like we were usig the h1 tag and a you can do the element comma element and what that means is it selects all the div statements and all the paragraph statements so any div and any paragraph it;ll select oh o fthos element space element and this example div space pargarph itll select all paragrapsh taht are inside a div so wehreas the one example i shwoed yall it only faffected the one paragraph inside the div itum you have div greater than p which seelcst all pargrpah element where the parent is the div element so uh what the diferent between div p and div greater than p if its slelcting all the p ewthin the div element and the div element is the parent wuld it not do every sing le p thats inside the div uhh i wouldnt you can but i wouldnt but no what if i had a div element that had a pragraph and you can put a div inside a div aso you ahve a div that insie a div and inside that div i have a header or correct close yes yes um we have so so asicall the key word is the parent your div container is the parent and everything you have insie is a child if its a 1 layered element would be achild all thos childs inside the div are siblings but if you have oe child that has other elements in side it then those elements are now considreed child elements of the child so think of ti his way you got the parent the child and grandchildren in this case you got div space p id doesnt matter you're a p element you're gettin gchagned bu in the greater than p element its only selecting ones wehre the div is the parent the hild paragraphs isid ethe div will get affected ub tnoene fo the grandchild paragraphs will be affected uh element +elelents slect all eleletns palced mmediately after the div element so this isnt ehs ame as these two the plus mean you ahve an opening n ending and right underneat that you hve a pargarpah if thers anythin gin between likek a header that doesnt coun dany paragraph taht precedes succces is that right come after the div thg then you can select that so yu can hve a div box and then thsi first paragraph you wanna do somethin glikke that so say you the div container loosk like a bo then the pragraph looks like citation or captions you put beneath it uhm so and and a lto fo the stuff in ehre gets really detailed about how to drill dwon to very specific tpyes we;re not really goingtb be testing on an y of this here bt its good to know what it can do lie one the attribut ehere we;re gonna so what wer edoig ehre iwers for all anchor tags that have aterget the target is um you know nerscore blakn or nderscore what sthe other one self umt that if it has a trget set to it then were gonna do smethign t it as you can seee over here disney and wkiikpedai are highlighted and that sbecause ver hiere in the cod ethis acnchor has a target and this anchor ha s target but this anchor doesnt so you can spefici y you know if thinks ga hve targe with the suqare brackets then you can change che oding format for thiseo eleents so that gives you a lo t ofstuff to play with thers also the he pseudo codd of the colon active the colon check the colon uhhh visited the colon visited uhh we'll get into sudo code thirsay so sudo code is basicall eyour hyperlinks when yht ehyperklins are blue with hyper ink when you go back its purple when itis blue its the its non visited so that sone set of sudo code if you put the mouse over the top f thinlink sthat s ahuver sudo code make chagnes so if youre hovering oeer the top of ti you can have it so that if yo click and hod its now the ctive item on the webpage so thers a active which you knselects that linik and makes certain chagnes ot it so if i oe over ehre and lcik you can see how it chagnes the background help you indivate which one yo clicked on uhm change that ot hover so now eny etime i hoever it chagnes um this visited os if i go to tw3chools and go back run it again you can see how it does the default you know gives it the dafault text and underlines it so sudo code has the colon and the action uh behind it so you know theres all this thing sike first type of the first tpye of p thie feirst paragraph itll do something to it first line the first line in any pragraph you can have that fisr line set p any tipe of whay uh heres also in rage that gets more whn you get into forms you can say tou can specifiy a nubmer btwentenn one an dten yhe box trn red o whatever and so i would reccomend you go hrough and you paly with sme of thse get more to see what spout the ther enth type so on the nth tpye we have the it comes in there nth type of 2 so thsi is the second type of that instantce of that pargraph type and the other cool gint you can do is n pls one and so then it willl do the second one of each one and um thers also a more thers uh theers a formula way thers a wordw way you can do even you can do odd so for like if your doing om list items you got an undrorderd list or whatever you want ever yoher one the bkagornd to be a different oclor if youre dongtables you can make each instance a different table color or you bn do columns or whatever lets see umm t t t t tum css is=f you ytpe in css elector sin google you;l get that one if you tpye in css cssrule for the other one but for what i can do is wheres my other book mkay so you shoudl aslo thaev the links to those now and so that shta tso we talked about the inline codning and you use inline normally ou use it wht a style if you wnat to slaso wit inline coding ayou can use the elment the way i did it is i made it part of the leemtn itself where i used like the the elementp tag and then i ype din styles = brakets you can do ti that way you can do it thtis way here whe its insid ethe element brackets itsel the lemetn tag itself you can slo do the a no i was gon say you coan ould t a style its not a style span you can use span equals or span style= dot dot whatever it is and then close the spanyou can use a span as a separate elemtn all together and you can span a whole block of code but if you onel y wan to affect iand im just aying if oyu had multiple raows and you wanted ot snteadof oputtging ths pan say these erw diferent elemtn tpyes instead of putting them linine the way it was orgiinally you use a span and span the whole section so you can use a span to affect awhole block of code yo could have the code inside the tag itself al that scisondiered inline code casue its in the code of the body ihembeded code is wehre inseid the header we embedded all or css scrip insdie the header an separate file o yur css code i beleve were gonna star cearting next week you ahave a link and the link goes insie your header and the rel equals sylesheet youre telling the html processor that oyur bringing in a stylesheet versus a pdf or worddoc so youre letting it know your bringing in a stlye hset and this is the licoation subfodler director yfilename and that will bring in all yur css dcode first eause youl;; have this link oin your header so it gets read vefore the do cactually displayso nthe screen um talked about soe of the different slector yles you ve got eh asterisxk which means select everyhin inf you ave tha at the bottom then uh if its the ast rule then its all the stuff its not gonna work so dont put att at te op use it as a universal universe default set all margins to zero set all atrtributes sna values ot whatever you want it to be um you ahve um nalement which is just a gtag h h1 paragraph slector groups differnet tpyes of gorups commat gag space gtag grater than tag you got um gthe different calsles a class us ea a dot so its dot whtever the calssname is the id you have uh the hastag so tis hadshat whatever the name you want to call it so thers the the three differet ways you can embed attach css coding to your html and so there s benefits and ownside ts to each tpye and gerneally when you are wiritng your cod eor when yo''l decid to use one tpye its best f your gonnad o all you code to do tit one wy or another like i said everything has that order so if it comes to a rule an i says h2 is this thsi thsi an dthis an dthats in a linekd file a nd then it goes into youhr html and you se t h1 to thsit sthist that overruels what your file is and if you get all the way down theo the code tin thea itsel fin thtml oe and you ahve your css cscript cahged and thats why metellen iwhyn you turn on yiou porjects do it as clsoe to tej instrctions as possible and while i do encourage you and enthus that youre adding l hsiexra stutff and taking intiatnive and stuff it can utnr yoarund an byire youh in the end casue when swe start adding your css scrips and youre gonna chagn eall this suff in the filae and you view it in teh broweser and its no tchanging oh its not chagnign becasue youre embedde dthis html code inline that overreide seerything else you se tbefore so soe of thse befeits of embedding css so puttin it in the header if if your e wiritn a file an your in the developnent mode of somethign dand youwanting ot have a di velement ot add s certain way so your not afefcin the whole entire wepage you jsut wannta gagke thsi div iece and put t so you can take amake ceratin chagnes and yoll yu pre aming o quock nchagnes how many pixels do i need ot mov ie ti in throguh ahow big of a mragin do i need or wahtever emebedding is quikc way to pit all your code atht ehtop and akigy your chagnes so when youre looing aouyr browser iew and your efersh loh that what it does the downside tit akes a litt le mroe tume so each time you make ahcange oyu gotta og in tehre andreolatod it um and it only works on tat document so fi you onleny embed sio head fo one document so and 215 mage website and oyu want oyour website ot alll liook the smae have thes ame h2 tag shave te asmpepa tags 1 same dive tags set it up in acertian way emebedded coding and then if i dnt lie that colro hagne it ynow you gotta go to each otf those files and change the color in eacho neo fhte gags so its good for quick testing bu tnot so good for it only works on taht one page uh inline coding antoerheqick way of tetinga dn wehre here at the school we have aporgram for the schools website so wen you go tall that sdone hrouhg a cms called farcry which is baically a big huge datbase wehre i can put all iny my text and click thehtml code ansd go in make edits to the html code by going the html cod ei can do html inline beacaseu the only opetions i have in theeditor is choosea text xtyle whic is h 1 ht2 hthre etitle normal preand sme iother option so there seign header fillls o set te highg and the an dth boldness an thing like that to the text heich ibery bad css programming adnyou rlimited to what you can do you can tput in div tags or tabels or float anythin but i can pit in inline snippets and change the webpage to how i want it bt its difficult ot change and its indie the tag the nsomething you gottta change lines and lines nd find thestyle to make chages um now in s a separate file its thereseveral benefits you ts want its one ychange anto the header you cannge the h1 sicze from 35 p to e7 px well thatw illl go through and that affets every linedkd file linekd with taht one fil e if youve makede a change makng a change with just one changeum also allwoes you to maek an easy considatant webste look so the lookl and feel to eac page hwny u cgo from each page iit al looks like your in the smae wepabe and oyu'ev ot yur different talbbles link lists on the side a certain way so whe you go from tpage to page to page it all looks the sme and oyu can link tit to different websites f you'r eon a ebsite an doyue lie yman theve gos ome cool styles you ccan look at the tml and see if they've ot the style linked yo can take their link an dput it into yours now you can t see their file mybbe you can mayeb you ant bc if you mosmetimes thaty dont maek it where you can use tib gut not see it fi you can se it you can actually readd their code if oyu do that like you can sue vertai id names or ceratin clssnames then youd also have to change all your calsss id tags and values to match those so yoit youwld ahve ts ame look the downside si um its a luearning curve its um you ahve one big huge file adn you can go through and after showing alyou all the differentway soyu can add um youk nwo all ptags that are insdi e a di v all petags that are in the parent di so theres that learning curve on the pcompelxity oyu ca n put in it and thers a lotof of extra work done in the begining then theres more owork in the begoinign setting up a whiole file itself so yeah thersum when when you're in a borwser you can do to tools and thers eevelopert too sand in the eev eloper tools it comes over ehre and whos you fhe code for the page and whos you the paramets over ehr ewher its ecratche dout it shwere those have been overwritten thes upm aslo therse sometimes itll tell you f therse liekerrors on the pag enad stuf fhtis is agood tool to go tlook through your page see fiy all yoru tags ar ein the erite spot if ihad a pa ragraph wrigthg iudner hsi but had my h1 tag afte rthe inital paragrpah tag so i had angle bracket p angle bracket here it would show me an error here but iwould show you in the ool over there that your h1 tag is in the incorrect spot so there yesh um oky so thats covers that lets getrid of some of this lets go ahead and weve go t afew mintes for the la well go voer the lab real quick lets go over the lab a s aclass excericise if i can get it to open it it it gets whats that oh did you not get an email though wel thats no good if im sending all these announcements there now you should see em cause if i send oyu a message it ll pu ta messag ena ditll send oyu an email okay good to know uh was it lab number five so well go ahead and eerone open up notepad real quick well go through these as a class discussion an dthen submit it afterwards so i know whos here and who should get the five points

Deut 4-5; Luke 6
Discuss in the comments section.
The following text is from the New International Version. Occasionally we will rotate the translations just to have some variety.
Obedience Commanded
4 Now, Israel, hear the decrees and laws I am about to teach you. Follow them so that you may live and may go in and take possession of the land the Lord, the God of your ancestors, is giving you. 2 Do not addto what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.
3 You saw with your own eyes what the Lord did at Baal Peor. The Lord your God destroyed from among you everyone who followed the Baal of Peor, 4 but all of you who held fast to the Lord your God are still alive today.
5 See, I have taught you decrees and laws as the Lord my God commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land you are entering to take possession of it. 6 Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.” 7 What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to him? 8 And what other nation is so great as to have such righteous decrees and laws as this body of laws I am setting before you today?
9 Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.10 Remember the day you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb, when he said to me, “Assemble the people before me to hear my words so that they may learn to revere me as long as they live in the land and may teach them to their children.” 11 You came near and stood at the foot of the mountain while it blazed with fire to the very heavens, with black clouds and deep darkness. 12 Then the Lord spoke to you out of the fire. You heard the sound of words but saw no form; there was only a voice. 13 He declared to you his covenant, the Ten Commandments, which he commanded you to follow and then wrote them on two stone tablets. 14 And the Lord directed me at that time to teach you the decrees and laws you are to follow in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.
Idolatry Forbidden
15 You saw no form of any kind the day the Lord spoke to you at Horebout of the fire. Therefore watch yourselves very carefully, 16 so that you do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol, an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman, 17 or like any animal on earth or any bird that flies in the air, 18 or like any creature that moves along the ground or any fish in the waters below. 19 And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars—all the heavenly array—do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshipingthings the Lord your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven. 20 But as for you, the Lord took you and brought you out of the iron-smelting furnace, out of Egypt, to be the people of his inheritance,as you now are.
21 The Lord was angry with me because of you, and he solemnly swore that I would not cross the Jordan and enter the good land the Lord your God is giving you as your inheritance. 22 I will die in this land; I will not cross the Jordan; but you are about to cross over and take possession of that good land. 23 Be careful not to forget the covenant of the Lord your God that he made with you; do not make for yourselves an idol in the form of anything the Lord your God has forbidden. 24 For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
25 After you have had children and grandchildren and have lived in the land a long time—if you then become corrupt and make any kind of idol, doing evil in the eyes of the Lord your God and arousing his anger, 26 I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you this day that you will quickly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess. You will not live there long but will certainly be destroyed.27 The Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and only a few of you will survive among the nations to which the Lord will drive you. 28 There you will worship man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell. 29 But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. 30 When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the Lord your God and obey him. 31 For the Lord your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your ancestors, which he confirmed to them by oath.
The Lord Is God
32 Ask now about the former days, long before your time, from the day God created human beings on the earth; ask from one end of the heavens to the other. Has anything so great as this ever happened, or has anything like it ever been heard of? 33 Has any other people heard the voice of God[a] speaking out of fire, as you have, and lived? 34 Has any god ever tried to take for himself one nation out of another nation,by testings, by signs and wonders, by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, or by great and awesome deeds, like all the things the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your very eyes?
35 You were shown these things so that you might know that the Lord is God; besides him there is no other. 36 From heaven he made you hear his voice to discipline you. On earth he showed you his great fire, and you heard his words from out of the fire. 37 Because he loved your ancestors and chose their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his Presence and his great strength, 38 to drive out before you nations greater and stronger than you and to bring you into their land to give it to you for your inheritance, as it is today.
39 Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other. 40 Keep his decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the Lord your God gives you for all time.
Cities of Refuge
41 Then Moses set aside three cities east of the Jordan, 42 to which anyone who had killed a person could flee if they had unintentionallykilled a neighbor without malice aforethought. They could flee into one of these cities and save their life. 43 The cities were these: Bezer in the wilderness plateau, for the Reubenites; Ramoth in Gilead, for the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, for the Manassites.
Introduction to the Law
44 This is the law Moses set before the Israelites. 45 These are the stipulations, decrees and laws Moses gave them when they came out of Egypt 46 and were in the valley near Beth Peor east of the Jordan, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon and was defeated by Moses and the Israelites as they came out of Egypt. 47 They took possession of his land and the land of Og king of Bashan, the two Amorite kings east of the Jordan. 48 This land extended from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge to Mount Sirion[b] (that is, Hermon), 49 and included all the Arabah east of the Jordan, as far as the Dead Sea,[c]below the slopes of Pisgah.
The Ten Commandments
5 Moses summoned all Israel and said:
Hear, Israel, the decrees and laws I declare in your hearing today. Learn them and be sure to follow them. 2 The Lord our God made a covenantwith us at Horeb. 3 It was not with our ancestors[d] that the Lord made this covenant, but with us, with all of us who are alive here today. 4 The Lord spoke to you face to face out of the fire on the mountain. 5 (At that time I stood between the Lord and you to declare to you the word of the Lord, because you were afraid of the fire and did not go up the mountain.) And he said:
6 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
7 “You shall have no other gods before[e] me.
8 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.9 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 10 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
11 “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
12 “Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. 13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 14 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns, so that your male and female servants may rest, as you do. 15 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the Lord your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.
16 “Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
17 “You shall not murder.
18 “You shall not commit adultery.
19 “You shall not steal.
20 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
21 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor’s house or land, his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
22 These are the commandments the Lord proclaimed in a loud voice to your whole assembly there on the mountain from out of the fire, the cloud and the deep darkness; and he added nothing more. Then he wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me.
23 When you heard the voice out of the darkness, while the mountain was ablaze with fire, all the leaders of your tribes and your elders came to me. 24 And you said, “The Lord our God has shown us his glory and his majesty, and we have heard his voice from the fire. Today we have seen that a person can live even if God speaks with them. 25 But now, why should we die? This great fire will consume us, and we will die if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any longer. 26 For what mortal has ever heard the voice of the living God speaking out of fire, as we have, and survived? 27 Go near and listen to all that the Lord our God says. Then tell us whatever the Lord our God tells you. We will listen and obey.”
28 The Lord heard you when you spoke to me, and the Lord said to me, “I have heard what this people said to you. Everything they said was good. 29 Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!
30 “Go, tell them to return to their tents. 31 But you stay here with me so that I may give you all the commands, decrees and laws you are to teach them to follow in the land I am giving them to possess.”
32 So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. 33 Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.
Luke 6
Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath
6 One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and his disciples began to pick some heads of grain, rub them in their hands and eat the kernels. 2 Some of the Pharisees asked, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”
3 Jesus answered them, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? 4 He entered the house of God, and taking the consecrated bread, he ate what is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.” 5 Then Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
6 On another Sabbath he went into the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was shriveled. 7 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal on the Sabbath. 8 But Jesus knew what they were thinking and said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Get up and stand in front of everyone.” So he got up and stood there.
9 Then Jesus said to them, “I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?”
10 He looked around at them all, and then said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He did so, and his hand was completely restored. 11 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were furious and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus.
The Twelve Apostles
12 One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. 13 When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles: 14 Simon (whom he named Peter), his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, 15 Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot, 16 Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
Blessings and Woes
17 He went down with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples was there and a great number of people from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the coastal region around Tyre and Sidon, 18 who had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. Those troubled by impure spirits were cured, 19 and the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all.
20 Looking at his disciples, he said:
“Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. 21 Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. 22 Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.
23 “Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets.
24 “But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. 25 Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep. 26 Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.
Love for Enemies
27 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.
32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full.35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
Judging Others
37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
39 He also told them this parable: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40 The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.
41 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
A Tree and Its Fruit
43 “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.44 Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. 45 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
The Wise and Foolish Builders
46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”
