I remembered how funny and cute children are and that Roran now has kids, so have toddler Roran babies and what they would call the dragons!
Saphira: blu-burry when littlest due to bad mispronunciation. Because she a sassy gal she wouldn’t be particularly fond of it, but she would find it cute. However, she does prefer the new “blueberry”, as it’s at least an actual word.
Thorn: thorn on the other hand, ADORES his baby slurred nickname of “raps-burr-bie” and is quite depressed when the kids begin calling him “raspberry”. He refuses to respond to anything other than his nickname when visiting. My boy canonically really wants to be a dragon uncle so he lives vicariously through Roran’s kids until Murtaugh makes his own.
Fírnen: he’s called Fernie when he comes by. Due to it being the most normal, it remains the same when the kids get older. Even Arya uses it from time to time.

Something interesting I just thought of, eventually Murtagh is going to get into an argument with Eragon and yell that everyone chose Eragon. Their mother, fate, the Eldunarya, the races who backed him as their hero.
Then someone, maybe Eragon points out that there were others who chose Murtagh.
Selena and Tornac chose Murtagh, wanting to give him a chance for a better life than the one he was stuck in. Nasuada and Thorn chose him as a equal, someone they wanted as a friend and close part of their hearts. Eragon, despite the betrayal, and after he calmed down from their battle on the Burning Plains, still wanted Murtagh as a friend. Eragon fought for Murtagh, he looked for ways to free him. He believed in him that once people gave him a chance, both sides would be rewarded. Murtagh for having a community, others for having a noble, fierce, protective ally.
I think this is something Murtagh is going to have a hard time accepting. He sees the preemptive stain on his reputation of being Morgan's son. He sees the blood on his hands trying to win favor in the court, and then the blood on his hands from his time as an enslaved rider. He sees the young man, weak, consistently overpowered and unable to protect those he loves the most and he hates not having control over who stays in his life, and who stays safe from harm.
I'm interested in how he comes to a place of self acceptance. Yes he has done bloody deeds, and that is something he will have to live with. But he is also loyal and protective. He wants to use his skills and knowledge to bring a brighter happier safer future for his loved ones and the children of the land.

And the funny thing is the things that just keep HAPPENING are things that Murtagh morally/ in good conscience CAN’T turn his back on.
Rumors of a growing threat in the northern reaches of Alagaesia- this is work for a dragon and a rider of old, and since we are the current generation of said establishment, it’s our responsibility to look into this.
Hears of Silna’s plight- damn it I hate this cat for baiting me like this, but I’ve been in that child’s place twice, and it is not pleasant… plus she’s a child and I’m all about protecting child innocence however I can. Also, I hate this cat for telling me that the best way to save said child is to commit the sin of grave robbery of a dragon that breaks my heart to know is dead.
Also amusing is the first obstacle on his mission to find information on Bachel is to find somebody who would know about the dreamers and the bird skull amulet. Best option, Gil’ead to see a woman who tried to pursue him at Galbatorix’s court. Murtagh’s immediate response is “Not her, not there, anything but that!!!!” The man is digging in his heels, trying desperately to find another way knowing that there is none, and needs his dragon to subtly call him out on his reluctance. 😆
This man! 😂
Murtagh is so upset about being upgraded from secondary antagonist to main character
#murtagh#thorn inheritance cycle#how can such a traumatized and emotionally burdened character be so amusing to read?

Thorn!
(Both in color and in gray. -aka my shadow placement plans)
Keep in mind, all my drawing’s are kinda a sketchy style (I can’t do lineart digitally and backgrounds are hell.)
Design choices:
I decided to give him a little tattering on his wings, to stand out from the other dragon designs I plan to do. As he was more of a fighter then the other’s due to being under Galby’s control with murtaugh.
I also chose to give him a slight head crest, kind of like a triceratops and to give him more of an interesting head silhouette.
Next up: Firnen! I for the life of me can’t remember his description, so that will be a little bit ♥️

Inheritance Cycle readers… I am in need of discussion.
What are some of your predictions for the next installments?
Events that will happen in character arcs?
How will some relationships develop? Romantic and platonic. (what character drama are you eagerly awaiting with a bucket of popcorn on your lap?)
Events and adventures that you want to see in the plot?

“His thoughts felt darker, more contorted… but there was a strength and nobility to him”
It’s interesting because you could use this same description for Murtagh as well.
Thorn definitely chose well. 🥰

He’s right tho 😌
#they have every right to be proud#especially because they’re the half of the duo that has a brain#i keep saying him and saphira would get along like a house on fire#okay but actually#i do think that this vanity(?) stems from the fact that during their upbringing there weren’t other dragons#like older dragons to keep the humble and in check and stuff#since glaedr never said anything like this#thorn inheritance cycle#murtagh book#inheritance cycle#concha reads

Saphira and Thorn together in one post! So you no longer have to reblog them separately! (They're also on my RB store) I'm reading Murtagh right now and enjoying it--I always did think Thorn and him were pretty cool. And I also have a dragon art sideblog @stardust-cove <3

I have a feeling that while Eragon’s reaction upon hearing this was horror, Murtagh and Thorn are going to have a response of respect and impressed.
Thorn is going to growl with approval at her ruthlessness and is going to wish that he could’ve had a chance to meet her. He might make the remark that she would’ve made a fine dragon.
"She healed them of their fear and their hate and all the things that drive a man to kill. And then while they all stood grinning at each other like idiot sheep, she went up to the men and cut their throats."
... Goddamn, Selena was terrifying. I love it. Oh I hope we get to find out more about what she was like when Murtagh comes out...

I honestly cannot wait for Saphira and Thorn to swap stories with each other! These two brothers are stubborn and so similar you can turn story exchanging into a drinking game!
Saphira and Thorn decided to hatch for two long-lost half-brothers whose fathers were sworn enemies, hatch for two of the most stubborn people in the whole of Alagaësia who always manage to get themselves into trouble
#saphira and thorn have been waiting for a hundred years just to hatch for them#they’re idiots but they’re our idiots#well meaning good and noble#saphira#thorn dragon#thorn inheritance cycle

Inheritance cycle characters and their favorite Disney movies
(Good Morzan AU and dragons included)
Eragon: sword in the stone. Kid gets a cool sword by the end and there’s a grouchy owl, how can you not love it?
Brom: sleeping beauty. He just wishes it was him.
Morzan: the little mermaid but was mortified to find him agreeing with triton the first time he watched it with Murtaugh.
Murtaugh: Bambi 2. You couldn’t pay him to watch the first one. 2 just has a good soundtrack and a cute plot line when you ignore the first.
Roran: his favorite movie is Fox and the hound, but he’s been stuck watching Frozen since his kids were first born and he needs someone to save him. He also can’t watch lion king without sobbing about Simba being left alone anymore.
Orik: beauty and the beast. He’s a hopeless romantic and loves the song ‘beauty and the beast’. And will hum the cut song ‘human again’ randomly throughout the film.
Thorn: Pete’s dragon. It reminds him of Murtaugh and him in a more goofy way.
Saphira: she loves Mulan, and the grandma is her favorite character. But she’ll tell you it’s Mulan who’s the favorite.
Arya: also loves Mulan. Same as Saphira but her favorites are the three soldiers that befriend Mulan because it reminds her of Roran, Murtaugh and Eragon. You can decide who is who.
nasuda: Cinderella, and princess and the frog. It’s a tie between the two because she admires Tiana’s work ethic alongside of getting her dreams of marriage and restaurant. But she also just wants Cinder’s dress, doesn’t matter if it’s live action or animated, she wants it.
