Awwww!!! Such a cutie!
First thought after reading his description: Varian’s new best friend and mentor.
Second thought: Uh, Varian would get annoyed with the incessant talking like he does with Xavier.
Third thought: Actually, so long as Prof. Nicodemus was talking about things relevant to Varian’s project (and didn’t distract him) he wouldn’t mind the talking. He’d probably delight in it especially if he had questions or theories of his own. Someone he can “nerd talk” (Eugene’s words) with.
Let’s be honest, they both forget to eat lunch when in the zone.
(Rapunzel loves doing astronomy with him.)
A Tangled OC I put up on twitter! Professor Nicodemus, castle archivist/astronomer/know-it-all, Professor Nicodemus! Heavily based on the inimitable Prof. Ludwig von Drake, he’s far too excitable, far too forgetful, insatiably hungry for knowledge and more stepstools in the archives. Don’t ask him questions or you’ll be there all day. And make the poor man miss lunch because he was too excited.
He’s a good soft boi.

@dia-viller @umunschaas just so you know, you two sent me down SUCH a rabbit‘s warren as I analyzed this scenario in my reblog. I ended up having to save it to drafts and start over. (but it did help streamline my thoughts.)
TL:DR version- placement of brain rattled Morzan on a scale of Canon Morzan to Tornac,
Closer to Canon Morzan, the easier Murtagh is going have planning or participating in Morzan’s death. He has NO problem killing this abusive negligent bastard.
More towards the middle, SO many complicated feelings but Murtagh’s sense of justice and pragmatism is going to win out. Guilt and mourning afterwards, but he’s going to use the worst of his father to stop himself from mourning too much. (He cries for what they lost once he gets some healing and Uvek assisted THERAPY)
More towards Tornac, Murtagh will really struggle with the idea of losing his father. Yes, he had a dark past and did terrible bloody deeds to all the races of Alagaesia, but he did what he could for Murtagh given the situation they were in. Murtagh is ashamed of his father, but thankful for what he tried to do to protect him.
Ways Murtagh would deliver death blow
1. Lets Morzan beat on Eragon before killing Morzan himself. Hissing into his ear “This isn’t to save him” as Morzan breathes his last
2. Arya engages with Morzan while Murtagh and Eragon deal with Galbatorix. If he escapes Arya, he’s Murtagh’s to kill
3. Eragon can’t or doesn’t bring Morzan into the protective bubble before Galbatorix nukes himself. Morzan dies with his master, by his master’s hand.
What if Morzan was alive and Murtagh should have been the one to kill him in the final battle
#he had to choose: kill morzan in order to save eragon or help morzan but eragon will die in the end#prev tags#murtagh#murtagh morzansson#morzan#galbatorix#inheritance cycle#inheritance series

That would’ve been a very interesting storyline for him to have. Handling the darkness underneath his chipper and upbeat persona. The sad thing is he has friends that will help him process his grief, but he never takes the opportunity. Maybe he thought the solutions that they would offer wouldn’t.jive with him, or he just flat out didn’t want to deal with it on top of his responsibility to the world to end the war.
Aang could't accept Katara's rage in Southern Raiders because it was a mirror to his own.
Aang is rather in a good mood for the entirety of the show for a kid that had just lost everyone they'd ever loved, and had his home and culture be destroyed by genocidal maniacs.
I don't believe for a second that he'd dealt with his grief in any sort of way (in fact, we even know that he'd just transferred all of his longing to Katara), and as such there must be a lot of grief and rage suppressed in him.
Along comes Zuko, and reminds Katara of her own well of feelings in that regard, and she - as opposed to Aang - does not suppress them.
Another genocide survivor who had a beloved parent figure taken away from them states their anger, and (between the lines) even desire for retribution - feelings that Aang was careful to not allow, so as to be positive, and chipper, and not drown in the despair of a lonely traumatized kid.
So he doesn't accept those feelings within himself, and neither does he accept them in Katara. ALL of it has to stay bottled up. All of it. Especially within Katara, lest his dam against grief breaks.

Telemachus is the name of Odysseus’ son in the Odyssey. Wikipedia lists him as only a literary character.
As for it being a name used outside of literature, an online search showed me one other time the name is used. In the legend of a 4th to 5th century monk named Telemachus, who tried to stop the gladiator games at the Colosseum. He kept saying “In the name of Christ stop!” until he was killed on the field. With his last breath, he said “In the name of Christ stop.” and slowly people left the Colosseum that day. I don’t know if this account is historically accurate or if it is fictional legend.
In short Telemachus is primarily a literary character, but there are cases where parents will name their children after their favorite literary characters. So it is possible there are Telemachus’outside the Odyssey in real life, but my online search didn’t show me any records of real men with the name.

(Note on Toxic or Not that I didn't want to put in the tags and didn't fit in main post.)
Eragon and Arya, not toxic. Eragon still has feelings for Arya but from my understanding and what I remember, he doesn't push for romance after Eldest. A part of him may hope for it, the desire may eke out in his interactions with her, but overall he's more professional with her. Arya set her boundaries, Eragon respects them.
Murtagh and Nasuada, not toxic just problematic. He brought her into a position where she was tortured. Yes he did it to keep her alive and spare her from Galbatorix's assassins, and did what he could to help her stay sane... Still...ehhhhh sorry guys, not a good foundation for personal shipping tastes.
Also, is Nasuada truly ready or prepared for the political tension that will come with Murtagh as her romantic partner? Even if Murtagh redeems himself, will there still be underlying tension in interactions with the leaders and their courts? She trusts him, but is he the right choice for solidifying her rule and building a dynasty if she looks farther down the line?
On Murtagh's side, is building a life with Nasuada going to be good for him? How is he going to handle the demands being Queen will put on her and his lives? Is the New Royal Court a place he wants to raise a family? How does him being a Dragon Rider affect his ability to be the father he wants to be to his children? Even with redemption, does he feel his past will still cast an uncomfortable shadow over his children?
She wants safety and certainty that she will have a trusted ally. Murtagh also wants that but is worried about the effect his past and his father's past will have on his children. Things those two really need to think about and be realistic about.)
So I know the Disney+ Eragon series is very much in beginning stages (Chris et al are in negotiating if I remember correctly), but one of the things I have thought about since last year is what if Cinema Therapy did videos on the Eragon series?
Psychology of a Hero: Eragon and Saphira
Psychology of a Hero: Nasuada and Roran on Leadership
Villain Psychology: Murtagh, Galbatorix
Psychology of a Hero: Murtagh Specific topics could be Dealing with Guilt/Regret and Consequences of your Actions OR Dealing with Grief. Self-talk and Self Perception/Self Actualization(?).
(Villain Psy during "Eragon". Psy of a Hero if "Murtagh" plus his sequel adventure gets greenlit for a couple seasons.)
Family Therapy: Eragon and Murtagh's relationship
Therapist Reacts: Dealing with Trauma for Thorn and Murtagh
Therapist Reacts: Relationship Advice for Murtagh and Thorn, Eragon and Arya, Murtagh and Nasuada
Toxic or Not: Eragon and Arya, Murtagh and Nasuada

Jesus did not shame or gatekeep the repentant. He welcomed them.
The more I interact with Christians online, the more I hear about them, the more I am convinced that we need to be better about practicing radical love and kindness and grace.
I'm listening to Michael Knowles interview Nala Ray, the OnlyFans porn star who converted to Christianity and she talks about her experience with Christians who are trying to catch her out on theological mishaps or being upset that someone who was so promiscuous could become a faithful Christian. I see Christians on this site be unnecessarily rude and combative and unwilling to be civil to people who disagree with them.
Please, Christians. We are called to follow the example of Jesus. Welcome those who come home. Be kind to those who are lost. Be firm in the truth but do not use it to insult or drive away those who need it.

I want to see Saphira under Thorn‘s wing as they swap stories of their riders!

I've been talking a lot about how much I want to read about the interaction between Murtagh and Eragon or about Murtagh and Roran, but what I really need is Thorn and Saphira's moments together
#they would be a great team#thorn deserves to have a dragon friend#(<- prev tags)#completely agree!#gah why do we have to wait so long!!!!

When Eragon encounters Arya in Brisingr. Now I remember this scene, and why he’s angry.
You did a good job on this piece.
Ignoring my own lack of revealed context, this image is lazy but it was a practice on experimenting with poses, new and unique faces and scenarios, and textiles. I do not hate the result, but I do not love it either. Will keep practicing! This scene takes place in Brisingr, when Eragon encounters Arya.

YES!!! This man needs hugs and a safe place!
Might write a fic about this at some point, but just thinking about befriending Murtagh, getting to a point where he really trusts you (and is maybe starting to fall for you), then hugging him really tight for the first time. Maybe you were both separated in a dangerous situation and you’re so relieved he’s ok, you just jump on him. For a minute, he isn’t sure what to do - it’s been decades since someone hugged him. But eventually, he slowly wraps his arms around you and then just sinks into you as he realizes how nice this feels and doesn’t wanna let go, then makes a habit of hugging you every time he sees you and holding on extra long every time and I just ashdhsjlsksjdjsjsksjdhdh

You know. While I do appreciate the headcannon that Odysseus and Penelope had absolutely sick nasty sex as soon as he got home, my opinion is actually that they went straight to bed and slept through the night and well into the next day, getting the best sleep either of them has gotten in 20 years.
Because like. We know why Odysseus would need to rest finally after being in the Trojan war and then being hunted by gods and monsters for the next ten years.
But Penelope.
Penelope was home. Waiting, and then she was told the Trojan war is over and Odysseus should be home any day. And then months passed and then that turned to years. And now suitors are claiming her husband is dead and she needs to choose someone else. And at first they’re polite about it but then they grow increasingly…not so polite about it.
Odysseus was battling monsters, yes. But Penelope lived with them. I imagine she spent every night sleeping lightly, knife in hand and facing her bedroom door—maybe not sleeping at all. She wouldn’t be able to stop all of them but she wouldn’t go down without a fight.
And nearly ten years passes like that.
And then Odysseus finally makes it back and all the suitors are dead. Yeah, fucking him is nice but holy shit she needs to fucking sleep.
