I’ve had a lot of stuff going on lately but I received the urge to draw Tommy… he’s so precious to me. Best gunslinger lmao.
He is technically a canon character, he gets mentioned exactly the once in the gunslinger and then a character CALLED Thomas Whitman exists in the comics, though I admit I stopped reading them before we meet that version so I can’t say how similar they are. All I really noticed or knew about Thomas from the glimpses I got were: 1 close to Jamie and 2 Big Hat. I ended up deciding to characterize him as “Leonard of Quirm accidentally born into the wrong epic fantasy book series” and then ultimately wrote approximately a bajillion words of fanfic about him lmao.
And I never draw him with his hat. Cry pardon. I don’t like drawing hats.

Out of the Closet: A Collection of Early LGBTQ+ Fiction
A collection of 22 LGBTQ+ stories published between 1841-1923, read by Librivox volunteers.
Listen/Download
This is a collection of 22 LGBTQ+ stories published between 1841-1923, covering a wide span of authors, genres, and literary traditions. Some stories are coded and euphemistic, often framing their central relationships as friendships or familial bonds. Others are surprisingly brazen and bold for their time, courting controversy for their refusal to obscure the sexuality of their characters. Some tales come from canonical, widely known authors (Whitman, Chopin, Wilde, Cather), while others emerge from obscurer and less recognized writers (Thanet, Cooke, Bunner). Some are tragic and self- critical, clearly the byproducts of when they were written. Others are lightly comedic or triumphant, bucking the conventions of the time. Throughout each story, however, persists a desire to represent the seemingly unrepresentable, finding expression for the “love that dare not speak its name.” — Summary by ChuckW
Read by Librivox volunteers. Total running time: 18:15:34

The original art for a Whitman puzzle of The Secrets of Isis from 1977, based on the Filmation television show.
Several sources have identified Neal Adams as the artist of this piece. While I could be wrong, I believe the artist is actually frequent Adams collaborator Dick Giordano. The faces of the figures, especially the little boys, are pure Giordano.
And while some may suggest that this is Giordano inking over Adams' pencils (which he frequently did), figures in Giordano's work were usually stiffer (like Isis above), and not as loose and flowing like Adams.
Either way, it's a great piece of work. Makes me wish DC would do more with their version of the Isis character.

I am sending the original ka-tet to New York City instead of making them deal with the fall of gilead! They have suffered enough! I think they should get to be friends with the NINJA TURTLES
Some notes:
I haven’t decided if Susan lived/came with. On the one hand Susan dying is a key aspect of Roland’s (and Bert’s and Alain’s) fucked up backstory. On the other hand I feel like Susan would be fucking hilarious around April and Casey. Actually Fuckin. Aileen Ritter and Alain’s sister Claire should also get to come, 1 because Tommy needs his lesbian girlfriends 2 the Susan/Aileen/Claire/April/Sunita/Casey Girls Night would leave no survivors
I feel like Bert and Alain would adapt the easiest to this situation, then Jamie and Tommy, and then trailing a distant last place is Roland… however Tommy would like immediately adapt to technology and hidden city mystic stuff it’s just that he can’t order anything at McDonald’s bc it’s too much pressure
I’ve covered this before in a tdt/tma fic but the only reason anybody can understand spoken or written English is because of Roland’s presence extending Protagonist Plot Comprehension to his party so I’m considering whether a post-Mejis Roland who did NOT receive his quest for the tower (if Susan is alive) also has Main Character Powers and if not gosh I do love “a bunch of people having to live together in close quarters and don’t understand one another until someone makes a breakthrough”
I think objectively the funniest time for them to get drawn out of castle gilead and into New York is literally the first episode but anytime Leo fucks up a portal would be good too tbh
Congratulations splinter you have fucking tripled the number of horrible goblin children you’re responsible for
Every gunslinger autistic as hell… and so is every turtle….

Poems on poets: A.M. Juster, 'Houseguests'
There’s shouting by the stove (it’s Plath & Hughes) as Wystan wanders off without his shoes and Whitman picks the Cheetos off his beard. The Larkin-Ginsberg chat is getting weird, for after countless hours they have found bizarre pornography is common ground. Old Emily is not As prim as billed— When Dylan finds her bra-hooks— She is thrilled. Poe strokes his bird; Pound yawps that it’s a pity…
