Fourth order up for the Sleepy Bean Fanfic Café by @tsspromptmonth and requested by @yourelost-itsokay! They wanted Logan calming Virgil and Thomas down after a bad dream. Please enjoy!

Summary: Thomas has a bad dream and he and Virgil need Logan to talk them through it.

“Please describe the dream for me again,” Logan asks calmly. He stands before Thomas’ bed, on top of which Thomas sits leaning against the headboard while Virgil paces on the other side. While Logan is giving most of his focus to Thomas, he makes sure to keep Virgil in his peripheral as well.

“I was driving,” Thomas begins, his forehead creased in thought. “I don’t know where to. It was cold and there was some snow. Not a lot, you know, Florida, but it did cover the ground somewhat. I went downhill and the car gained speed. I tried to hit the brakes, but they didn’t react. I pressed them harder but still nothing. Then another car turned into the intersection up ahead. I couldn’t stop and I—” He breaks off, his breaths having gotten heavier as he spoke. “I didn’t wake up from the crash. I got out of the car; to check on the other person. The sight of the blood startled me awake.”

“I understand. And now you are worried such an accident might actually occur?”

“I mean, kinda? I’m driving up to Vermont to visit Joan and Talyn soon, it’s colder up there.”

“And we don’t know the streets there,” Virgil adds, still pacing. “Accidents happen more frequently when you’re in an unknown place, right?”

“I do not know the statistics for that, Virgil, but I could look into it if you would like, though I do believe getting too careless because one knows the streets might lead to accidents just the same. That will not be a problem for Thomas, however, as you always keep him on alert while driving.”

Virgil nods along to his explanation and while he doesn’t stop his pacing, Logan notices his shoulders relaxing somewhat.

“But to get back to your issue, Thomas: we have already prepared for the trip to that degree, remember? We scheduled your car for an inspection in the week before the trip and we’re going to replace the tires with some that are better suited to changing weather conditions.”

“Right, I almost forgot about that,” Thomas sighs, relaxing against the headboard.

“But that doesn’t guarantee that the brakes won’t fail!” Virgil protests. “The inspection could be faulty, or they get loose somehow, or—” He waves his arm around, trying to find more possibilities to air his anxiety. “Animals! There’re animals who could chew through the cables or something, right?!”

“Yes, there are cases where animals such as martens have chewed through car cables, but those live neither in Florida nor Vermont. Still, if it would ease your mind, we can incorporate brake checks into our driving routine.”

“What would I have to do for that?” Thomas asks.

“You would drive a few feet in the parking lot or an empty street, build up a comfortable amount of speed and then hit the brakes with some force. If your brakes were damaged, you would be in a safe environment and slowly roll to a stop without harm coming to you or others. And the chances of your brakes failing afterwards, especially after a recent inspection are infinitesimal.”

“Sounds like a good plan to me. Verge?”

Thomas and Logan both look over to the anxious side who finally stops pacing.

“Yeah. I can work with that. But can we fact check the marten thing? That they don’t live in Vermont?”

“Of course,” Logan easily agrees. “And we can look up how to check the cables for ourselves if you would like to.”

“I would. Thanks, Lo.”

“No problem. Just doing my job.”

“No, really Logan. Thanks a bunch,” Thomas agrees. “I feel a lot better about going back to sleep.”

“I am glad to hear that, Thomas. You need the rest.”

“Yeah, I know. Goodnight, you two.”

“Goodnight, Thomas. You as well, Virgil.”

“Yeah, night. And thanks again, Logan.”

As they sink out, Thomas spots a small smile on Logan’s lips. Maybe this is a better night than he thought.

I've been kinda getting back into MHA and I'm a slut for crossovers ok. So I really want to write one for Sanders Sides, but I'm stuck on why the FUCK someone like c!Thomas would go to a hero highschool in Japan. And not having a hero or provisional license would prevent any of them from using whatever power I come up with. Which is like. The whole point of these kinds of crossovers. So tourist moment is also not on the table.

I also do not remember what the law status of quirk usage in the usa is (been a good 5 years since I've last caught up w the manga).

Also, how would it go with the sides not technically legally being people? Would Thomas get in trouble if Roman got caught vigilante-ing?

It's a lot harder than a Marvel or DC crossover. Although Marvel is easier than DC because of their superior power origin categorization.

There IS the exchange student route, do a little bit of Pony copy moment. But it would still be a bit of "why is c!Thomas in a hero school in the usa?" although we did have that backstory little gem in "Moving on" where they talk about wanting to help the planet, hence the unused college degree.

I just also think that Virgil wouldn't be able to let Thomas do something so dangerous. Although it WOULD be a Thomas that at this point in history kinda mostly listens to his Morality, even though Virgil is scawy. We know that Virgil scared him in the moment, but that Thomas didn't used to let him in the driver's seat for long term decision making.

Ugh I'm here all "this has to make sense. LOGISTICALLY" about a guy who splits into 6 himselves and the anime where the answer to the question s"what kind of superpowers can people have?" is "yes"

OKAY BEFORE I DO ANYTHING, this is not me hating because i love all of my beloved mutuals, this is me sharing my perspective and my opinion and my CONFUSION. okay, now PLEASE REMEMBER THAT I AM NEW(ish, been almost a year) to hockey fandom, i have NEVER been an active twitter user (signed up shorty after musk made you need an account to view tweets, and I am a youtube drama) AND i have been an RPFer for the majority of my life. I am 22 I started watching dan and phil shortly before my 11th birthday and dove head first into the shipping culture of the 2013-2014 phandom. AND ALSO REMEMBER.... that dan and phil are FREAKS who openly engage with shipping content of them, make jokes about it so on and so forth. AND ALSO, that when i started using tumblr at like 12 everyone and their fucking dog had tumblr, dan and phil, tyler oakley, markiplier, taylor swift, troye sivan, john green, lorde, zoella, grace helbig, thomas sanders. EVERYONE HAD TUMBLR, and a lot of famous people still do (publicly and private)... what i am getting at is that to my eyes there is no "fandom space" that is free from celebrities. maybe MAYBE you could make that case for ao3 because to my knowledge there is only one content creator/celebrity on ao3 and he's a piece of shit and we hate him now (wilbur soot, he used ao3 to dump an unused stream outline for the dsmp) I also don't use tiktok. The only social media I use daily is tumblr, reddit, instgram, I open threads once evry few days to see what bookstagram drama is happening and see book recomendations, and I also am trying to use bluesky but... i'm not sure how much i like it, and there isn't that many people on there who i find interesting enoygh to follow. so, the only social media i like USE USE is Tumblr, reddit and instgaram.

Okay now... I don't really give a shit if people openly RPF ship on twitter, because imho it's the people in question not to go finding it. I DO give a shit if they tag the person, tag that persons family, friends, coworkers, media personnel etc. And because of what I just said about how I don't think there are any true "celebrity free" social media platforms... I don't really understand what makes shipping on twitter so egregiously worse than shipping on tumblr?

I do know the vague abstracts of the booktoc/ smuttok/ sportsromancetok, THING that happened back in 2023 with my only knowledge on the matter being THIS video from swell entertainment that came out august 3rd 2023, I watched it probably the day it dropped or the day after (I love swell, amanda makes amazing videos go watch her she's awesome) and haven't seen since and to my best recollection the issue wasn't shipping it was the harassment of Alex's wife, making and tagging them in increasingly sexual fancams and edits, and the kraken socials team playing into and feeding the flames. And because of that, I don't think its really a good comparison.

okay SO to recap i think there is no true 'fandom' space on the modern internet, i think that shipping on twitter (and in extension anywhere else) isn't really a problem so long as you don't tag people involved or in the greater sphere. AND It confuses me when y'all do think it's bad. like, I'm not hating I am confused. And I don't think that the Wennberg booktok thing is a good analogue to just shipping on twitter.

anyways, again I am not hating, this is clearly just me having a very different fandom background (youtubers, mcyt, bandom) from yall, and thus having a different perspective. (like I haven't done a poll but to my eye yallses most recent last fandoms were all media, not like humans...) feel free to give you perspectives, fill me in on shit that i don't know from being new etc etc.

anyways, I gotta go wash the dishes. then later i get to juggle watching the charge AND the sens AND the sharks and my poor little brain is so small. so i'm gonna get so confused.

EDIT: i just realized that i didn't mention it, i fucking hate gossip mongers, i hate gossip blogs, gossip twitter accouts, i would kill deuxmoi on sight and gaylors make me want to rip my hair out. people who tinhat get on my nerves, and i think anyone who doesn't make it clear that they're doing speculation, or chatting fiction, or who passes around gossip (or makes it up) is a no lifer waste of space.
