#this was the highlight of the entire episode!!!

Note
I can chime in on this one, I am going to be thorough but let me caveat: While I think the stuff I will be highlighting is at times *unfortunate*, I don't think it is often/prevalent enough to stop a child from watching the show. I doubt most young kids will catch it. It's more like some awkward/creepy middle-aged guy in-joke stuff.
So, ML has moments of sexualization lf the (female mostly) characters. Most of it comes down to how much ... Attention to detail... Is given certain parts of Ladybug's character model, coupled with some shot-framing that seems to emphasize this.
There is also awkward positioning of LB/CN now and then, usually for awkward romance humor but it's there.
There was the one-off incident as well where the animators added 'jiggle physics' to LB's bust. To ZAG's credit that was the last episode that studio worked on for ML, but you generally don't get that without some background air of exploitative framing being a part of the production.
The thing is- ML isn't unique to this sort of thing, but several factors combine to make it more awkward. Let's use Totally Spies as an example (Thomas Astruc also worked on that show, so there may be habits picked up)
Totally Spies is pretty rampant with sexual/fetish humor, and always has been. However it hits differently there.
Firstly I just looked it up and apparently the female leads grew from 14-19 in that show, but that was never very clear when I caught it before. It always felt like they inhabited that vague Highschool/young adult but still im school area so many shows use. Conversely ML is very explicit that the heroes are *young* teens the entire time. Putting your almost-18(so they can still be in school) character in 'situations' just carries a different vibe than doing it with your barely-teen character.
Second is the tone. Totally Spies is silly silly silly. The adult jokes and situations come a mile a minute with other jokes and nothing is to be taken seriously. You're supposed to be laughing at the heroine's antics, not identifying with them. Conversely Marinette is supposed to be taken seriously most of the time, with the jokes being less frequent(still there though!) and the audience is definitely supposed to identify with her. So, having a young audience identify with a young character who is then exploited... can be concerning.
So in summary- the charge is not completely baseless, but as things often are in this fandom's wars, I think it's overblown. Do I wish there were some shots tweaked or removed? Yeah. Do I think it is egregious enough to be a reason to not let a kids watch ML? No.
I have completely different reasons for not letting my daughter watch past season 3.
Is it true that Miraculous often sexualizes its characters? Because I see other people say this and want to know if it’s correct
I have not picked up on anything like that in Miraculous, but I'm ace, so sexualization has to be pretty overt for me to notice it on my own. It's entirely possible that there's something subtle that I'm missing. Until someone gives me specific examples, my stance is that this is incorrect. It's not an element that even crosses my mind when it comes to the reasons why I would discourage adults from introducing this show to kids. I am concerned about the quality of the romance between the leads, but that concern comes from a psychological standpoint about modeling what healthy relationships should look like. The love square is way too teen drama for a family show! However, from a purely physical standpoint, it's appropriate for all ages.

Dune: Prophecy episode 2 thoughts:
[SPOILERS]
NOW WE ARE COOKING WITH GAS
Everyone continues to speak in Exposition Dump; I have accepted that the dialogue will just be Like This and have made my peace with it
I knew that Lila was gonna turn out to be Raquella's descendent!
TULA MOTHERFUCKING HARKONNEN your sister is underestimating you. Tula was kind of a nothingburger in episode 1 but goddamn, that conversation she has with Lila where she convinces her to undertake the Agony was so manipulative and creepy. And you just know at least some of what she is saying is lies even if you don't know quite which parts yet.
Everything with Lila was completely harrowing. She looks so small and young in the white robe in the lab. The fact that everyone at the school is watching from the gallery, fucking yikes. Chloe Lea who plays Lila did a fantastic job. Olivia Williams is terrifying. That whole sequence was by far the most riveting part of the episode.
Love how much they're doing with the Other Memory, which the films don't really have time to get into. Love that they're highlighting the idea that the ancestors aren't just passive conduits of information; they have agendas and can influence you. You can see the call-forward to Alia's storyline in Children of Dune.
The ancestral plane or whatever you wanna call it looked creepy as fuck, good job. Also love how the shrouded gray figures look a little bit like the silver-plate icon of Raquella that's perpetually looming over all of them.
LILA KNOWS THAT VALYA KILLED DOROTEA. Oh that's great. Especially since I am pretty sure that Lila is only mostly dead. That Chekov's gun is gonna go off at some point.
Dorotea says Lila's mother is "not here." I sort of thought the Other Memory included all your ancestors whether they were alive or dead but maybe not? In any case I assume the implication is that Lila's mother is alive.
Actually love that Tula got genuinely upset at the thought that she might have killed Lila. Love a fucked-up surrogate mother-daughter relationship.
Unsurprisingly I am becoming a bit of a Jen stan. You question that propaganda girl!
Continually getting jumpscared by the GoT rejected plotline/early 2000s Syfy miniseries/CW show based on a popular YA franchise vibes of the younger Corrino generation. Could've done without the sexposition. Ynez and Squareface Atreides continue to be so so so boring.
Squareface Atreides talking about the "rebellion" of what seems like Houses Minor/less powerful elements of the Landsraad as if it's some kind of popular revolt was great actually. I don't know how much this was intended, but classic Atreides bullshit of always thinking they're the Good Guys.
Desmond in floaty jail. Sorry I just could not take it seriously. I laughed every time they floated him around.
The fact that Desmond can resist the Voice makes me think he is not fully human, or not human at all. I was originally thinking he's just got a fucked up Tleilaxu robot eye that can fry people, but now I wonder if he's something else entirely.
Oh I am fully on board now and ready for more!

Eerie Indiana: The Other Dimension: Last Laugh (S1E7)
Maybe I should have been happy for Stanley but when I looked into his eyes I saw something new. Something mean, and hungry. And it was growing.

also roy & isaac ... my beloveds. fully i think they are such a wonderful example of how you can craft an incredible side arc and compelling dynamic between characters in just a few scenes. They get like one scene together a season but each time it is one of the best scenes of the show, like that's magic!!!

hmmmmmmmmm.
the Job thing -> Aziraphale coming up against a decree by Heaven that he cannot force himself to be okay with, subsequently plunging himself into an existential crisis by falling prey to doubt and questioning and going as far as lying to an archangel, thus irrevocably corrupting his soul and no longer feeling 'holy' anymore
the Elspeth & Morag thing -> Aziraphale having a morality crisis over the intricacies of the human life and the net good of objective wrongdoings, attempting to paint things in overwhelmingly simplistic strokes that would fit things into the neat binary of 'good-bad', uncritically upholding the unhelpful sentiment of 'the blessings of poverty' but eventually being led to direct and powerful transformative action, and not the type that would truly take anything away from him, the entire conflict hinging on the fact that he had to overcome his internal misconceptions in a way that deserves to be written down, reflected upon, brought up again later in life
the??? finale for some reason??????????? -> "We're the good guys". "We're the good guys". "We're the good guys". "We're the good guys". "We're the good guys". "We're the good guys". "We're the good guys". "We're the good guys". "We're the good guys". "We're the good guys". "We're the good guys". "We're the good guys". "We're the good guys". "We're the good guys". "We're the good guys". "We're the good guys".

the thing about Nueng and Palm is that between the two of them they don't make a single socially adept human child and I think that's beautiful, love this for them, hope they never have a successful social interaction ever

Guhhh I don't have the spoons to work on my newest aquarium review but I do want to say...
A lot goes on behind the aquariums we know and love, and I have a newfound respect for them.
Character development: I should probably also not be as harsh when it comes to minor information mistakes (incorrect species name) and jellyfish variety (unusual jellies can be expensive and hard to find). They also consider what species would be suitable to show in public (many- like hydrozoans- are too small to be properly seen ;w;)
Additionally, breeding efforts for certain species can be difficult. After getting their hands on one species, it's possible that they simply... die, without being replaced. Displayed jellyfish species at an aquarium can be almost as seasonal as the plants that grow around your local area.
// Fun fact: The aquarium of the pacific is the first aquarium I've found to feed medusivoric jellyfish... other jellyfish
Also fun fact the Aquarium of the Pacific has the most detailed descriptions of jellyfish ever. I've came across them before but now I feel a bit silly for not doing more research there (like, they're more in depth than the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Monterey Bay is GOOD)
