Do you have any favorite pictures of Rommel?

I do! Actually too many to decide which ones I like best, I think😅 But these are some of my favourites, I tried to kind of sort them into different categories (beware this is gonna be a long post):

Please note that the positive descriptions or "gushing" that may occur in this post refer strictly to his appearance, not his views or actions! I guess that makes sense since we're talking about pictures here, but just wanted to clarify it.

These are some of my favourite portraits of him, especially the first two are some I really like. This is probably just me talking in my own biased opinion, but I genuinely do think that he had a very beautiful face. Like, he looks so soft but still masculine at the same time? And his facial features just compliment each other very well. Somehow I also really like looking at his eyes (which is funny because I'm horrendously bad at that in real life😂), especially the first 3 pictures just have something very tender about them.

Next up, fully body photos! The second one is probably one of my favourite pictures of him ever, I don't know exactly what he's doing but he looks very funny xD But also these pictures always make me think that I can't help myself but find his body shape genuinely aesthetically appealing, and I've been trying to identify why that is. I think I just really like that he doesn't look like the "ideal" of a stereotypically masculine man, while appearing in no way less masculine because of that. Like, he wasn't built very tall or broad (I've read that he was about 1,68m, of course people were just shorter on average back then, but on photos together with others he often still looks rather small), he had a small torso and more slanted shoulders, overall just a more soft and (in my opinion) almost dainty body shape. I feel like the uniforms he typically wore just added to that, for example in the way they accented his hips quite a bit in some photos. Personally, I find this type of man with softer features like him just much more aesthetically attractive than a stereotypical dudebro/"alpha male" (I hate that word so much bruh💀) kind of guy. Plus, it also gives me an odd kind of reassurance in regard to my own gender expression. I could go on about this but I think I'll rather save that for a later post because this already got quite long.

Next a category that is very special to me🫶 Photos together with his chief of staff and best friend Fritz Bayerlein! I'd honestly love to add more of these, but they are sometimes a bit harder to find online. There are quite a few photos of them together in Bayerlein's biography, but I haven't scanned or taken pictures of most of them yet. I hope to post some of them in the future though, maybe also with some background information. I love all of these, but I especially adore how genuine and effortless Erwin's smile look in the second one. From all the things I've read about them, I like to think that he and Fritz really had a deep and trustful bond and cared a lot about each other.

I don't know how many pictures I can still fit into this post, so I'll finish it off with a few more that don't belong to a specific category:

Young Rommel! I got to be honest, I enjoy pictures of him as a young man and I don't think he looked bad in the slightest, but I still think he's the type of person who gradually just started looking better and better as he got older. I wonder how he'd have turned out though if he got to live longer.

I just think he looks a bit funny with a Stahlhelm on😂 Not quite the way how you're used to seeing him.

I first came across this photo when I was maybe 13 or 14, and ever since I've wondered if it just had to do with the image quality and age, or if Rommel actually shaved his legs😂 Like, they look so smooth. I don't know about you, but if I was leading an army then shaving a legs would pretty much be the last thing I'd think of doing. Maybe he also simply had just very little or very light body hair though, I think it would fit in with the rest of his appearance.

I could go on for longer but I think this post is already long enough so I'll stop for now. At first I thought about making an extra category for family photos as well as for WW1 pictures of him, however I don't have a lot of them saved and was mostly using pictures here that I already had and didn't have to look up first. This was very fun though, I just love looking at all kinds of photos of him. Thanks for the ask <3

So about a year ago I did a little math and some rambling at a friend on how long before the events of PLA Prof. Laventon arrives in Hisui and I thought it’d be pretty funny to share it w some revisions here 🎉

The tree in Laventon’s lab is about like 6 rowlet tall minus roots

Rowlet is about 1 foot tall, making his tree around 6 feet tall.

Now take note of the size of the doors to Laventon’s lab in comparison to the tree

No way he brought that thing in recently. It’s waaayy too big to fit thru those doors. As the doors are around 6’8 because they are able to fit Volo (who is canonically 190 cm ((6’3)))thru those doors without him hitting his head. (and 6’8 is like the size of a standard door)

Now assuming this tree is growing at a moderate pace (19 inches per year) it would be about 4’5 a year before PLA. And the average man in the 1920s (will make a separate post for why I believe the game takes place then) is 5’6. So the tree might be slightly too big to carry thru a door so give it like 3 more months (4.75 less inches) when it’ll be roughly 4 feet and half an inch and then you can carry it thru that door pretty comfortably.

ok yall I just saw the Cabaret revival. I think the American critics are stupid because holy shit that was amazing!!!

the overall experience of going into the club was mind blowing. I felt like I was in some Indiana Jones movie. the prologue performers were incredible and the atmosphere was unmatched.

the show was very cool. how they redid the stage was actually insane.

my only problem was with the show itself. i’ve never seen it before and had no idea what it was abt prior. i thought it was an interesting concept and idea, but the story had no real grit and i didn’t feel like i cared enough about the characters. that doesn’t really matter with the revival tho.

THE PERFORMANCES OMFG. eddie redmayne was absolutely insane wtf😭like i still hope that groff gets the tony but holy shit eddie redmayne. (he also said les miserables when introducing a french dancer which made my les miz heart happy hehe) gayle rankin was incredible!!!!!!! she absolutely nailed the big songs like Maybe This Time and the final one i forgot what it’s called💀she really embodied Sally and made her my favorite character. I hope she wins the Tonyyy.

overall, if u can, i’d recommend going. not even just for the show, mainly for the whole experience and atmosphere which are honestly once in a lifetime.

How would you feel if Wenclair will actually become canon?

If romantic Wenclair became canon, I would feel like Millar & Gough caved and capitulated, allowing their vision for the non-romantic sister/friendship of Wenclair to be influenced by fans, and that artists/creatives are no longer allowed to create something without being severely pressured by a whacky minority of fans.

Because while romantic Wenclair makes up a big chunk of online fandom, it's not the majority of viewers, which are who the very straight M&G are writing for. These are the creators (AND some crew!) of fucking Smallville, FFS. These guys aren't looking to tell our stories (which is another thing that irritates me...why are we even looking to straight cismales like M&G and Burton to tell any of our stories?) and the people in charge are still awkward as fuck around the issues that surround 🏳️‍🌈 and 🏳️‍⚧️ issues.

Creatively, I'd probably ignore it. I'm already going to ignore Wednesday 2's storyline because Afterburn has a specific story written over several years in the future and includes the character of Xavier Thorpe. Wednesday 1 canon is the only thing I'll be using.

But honestly, all them bitches will become a million times even more insufferable, like spoiled kids who keep screaming until they get what they want. It shouldn't work that way, because when you force people to go off their scripts (especially awkward cismale writers like them 💀 and the women who help write their cisstories), that force will show. It will be obvious, especially to the unsuspecting masses who aren't looking for that in an unserious tweenie teen show like this one.

I have a couple of people expecting me to have Xavier get together with Wednesday if she fucks Donovan to death Donovan keels over on her, but that's not in the AB Bible either (a very strong Wenclairish sisterhood is, however) and I'm not seeing a path towards it given what ABW's life trajectory is. I'm different though, I'm fan fiction, and I can literally do anything, I can wish fulfill if I wanted to...but I don't want to. I want to tell the story/my story/the story of Wednesday and Donovan, and I'm gathering from everything that Millar and Gough have said about it even in the face of romantic Wenclair, they want to tell their story of Wednesday and Enid's friendship.

Maybe yanno...just let the creatives do what they're gonna do? Netflix's Wednesday was not meant to focus on or even hint at queer representation. Wednesday Addams's queer rep is allegorical, not literal.

ETA: Politically it would be a disaster and make things worse for us as well, because the right wing will be able to use it as an example of how the "gays are pushing their agenda" on kids/entertainment/etc. Fact: There never has been a gay agenda that's been pushed anywhere on anyone. That's been a fabrication of the right wing for decades. But this? This would be [yet another, the first one being the Wenclair response to the novelization] a gift to the right wing because it'd be true: By successfully pressuring a media entity to make a primary IP character who's been straight up until then to be gay, the 🏳️‍🌈 will have successfully pushed the writers into changing their story. I really wish the fucking left would stop giving the right gifts to trample us with. We made so much goddamn progress but then started getting ripped backwards. SHE DOESN'T NEED TO RUN, in reality she could just follow, but there's something thrilling about following alongside selina on foot. she can almost feel the blood in her veins, the thrill that comes with adrenaline, spreading throughout her entire body. selina's hand is in hers suddenly, and it's a non-violent form of human contact she is surely not at all used to. her eyes flicker from their hands up to selina's face, and the other is not focusing on anything but the direction they're set to run in, but rio's sort of forgotten that already.

"why do we have to run?" she questions. she can still feel the pulse of souls. and god, it's hard to capture the attention of one who has been around since the dawn of time. unfortunately for selina, once you do have that attention, shaking it off is almost more difficult than getting it. she wants to know more, wants to always be mere inches behind, understanding this one specific human, until she knows her as well as she knows the dead.

she pushes her then, using the hand to pull her in closer, feet not yet running. all selina has to do is jerk her hand from death's grasp then she ran run off, escaping those chasing them, crawling away until they forget she exists. but a challenge stands in death's eyes, and the grin on her lips is wicked. "come on, baby, don't you just wanna let go? lose your mind a little bit?" her eyes widen slightly on lose your mind, and she'd be more expressive if her hand wasn't busy. there's a stillness to her eyes, a darkness that makes it easy to remember she's not exactly a good influence.
