Unclear if this means there's a new, shorter average, or UR reruns will still be padding and not hells in their own right, since it was more or less the same time between Puppet Night and it. -> goddammit they did it again with Yesenia and w3.........

✓ Luming-Yexiao CNY original run was 16 days, the rerun lasted 10. Krysta original run was 12 days, rerun lasted 10. North Melody was 14 days, rerun lasted 12. Dawn Duel was 13 days, rerun lasted 12. Yesenia was 12, rerun lasted 10. It's important to note the decrease of run time for events when they rerun, since combined they can add up to maybe a couple weeks, and that's a couple weeks of saving which is nothing to scoff at. And that's only the URs; Single and Double SSR reruns have also had their rerun time shortened compared to the original time. This means that we get more events yearly overall, because they can squeeze in some more from those shortened runs.

↪️ Of course, for many of us some of these reruns are simply more free time to save because we've completed them, or getting some more pulls in with an event we'd already pulled for, but i.e. for server 3 this means they got 2 brand new UR events (Krysta and Luming CNY), so I felt it was worth to point out. With this schedule, "playing-since-release" players like me struggle, so I can only imagine new players can get very discouraged by the speed of things. New players know what they're getting into, of course, but comparing it to playing from the get-go, there are way less days of break between events (some oddities here or there, but for the most part events are back-to-back now) and a way more aggressive hell schedule. By comparison and not taking into account the sheer backlog of sets now in the game, it's a very intimidating timetable to try to keep up with (from the perspective of a f2p)

✓ An average of 17 days between each including Yesenia, and an average of 18 excluding her event.

✓ Already obvious we're getting more hells compared to last year

[Spoilers ahead for Silas Marner by George Eliot]

I believe books require a particular atmosphere and mood to read in. Today was a cold cloudy day. Usually cloudy days are hot and humid here, but today was an exception. My mind has been at ease due to the weather. I was glad that I am not sick, and do not have flu and cough. Moreover, I did not have my morning class. The sleep knowing that there is no schedule the next day is comforting. Therefore, I finished Silas Marner. Yesterday, I was in the part where Silas complains about his robbery. It was sad that he lost his meaning in life for the second time. When this novel was in my syllabus i roughly read the summary only and had found it to be terribly boring. But after reading the whole of it, I'll say it is full of good vibes, this book was perfect for a day like this.

I felt that the first half was bland. I could feel that the writer perhaps first thought about the latter part of the story, which is so well-written in terms of humor, speech, thoughts. The first parts see Silas Marner from a third person perspective, but no one will be able to guess what they are getting into, whether reading this book is going to be good or bad. I found most of the detailed explanation regarding how we should feel or how the characters feel about something to be exhaustive in that the language was not understandable. I assume the purpose was to make the emotions understood as a whole, but that purpose failed in my opinion. Perhaps this purpose served during its contemporary times. In this aspect, the parts from where Silas is consoled by his neighbors for the theft and especially from the part where the 'un (baby) arrives is well-written in that, almost every aspect is understood fully. But i will say a part I found to be witty yet exhaustive is where Silas comes to put forth the charge in Rainbow after getting fully soaked in rain and we see the conversation of the people of that area. Perhaps why this part is so long and boring is exactly to bring that effect in that the neighbors are engaging in useless talks and affairs that goes on and on.

Another witty character portrayal is that of Godfrey Cass, his emotions, thoughts, and motives were well portrayed. The writing starts to get better and enough keep you hooked after Marner discovers the 'un. Overall, you can definitely trust this book to be a good read full of good vibes that will leave your heart fuller towards the end, I can assure you of that.

Did you know that George Eliot is actually female? Her actual name is Mary Ann Evans. In that era, in the 19th century, women authors were still not free from prejudice about their writings, deemed to be "too emotional". She wanted her publishes to be judged solely based on their literary merit and not with biasness, which is why she took up the pen name.

September the 1st is also world letter day. I was thinking of writing letters to the few friends of mine. I pondered abt what to write, how to make the envelop and the letter exceptional and creative, what gifts should i give. I might attempt to gift handmade bookmarks. I'll share here if I do. It has been a long time since I did arts and crafts.

Holiday! Celebrate! When I woke up and saw the grey and the rain this morning I couldn’t wait to get the fuck out of this miserable city for five days. Although I was excited I hate travel days because I’m constantly worrying that I’ve forgotten something. I must have checked that the TV in my room was turned off and that the window was closed a couple of dozen times. I tried to stay in the house as long as I could because I hate leaving Lucy by herself but she’ll only be herself from 8-3 o’clock from now until Friday while Mam’s at work. When I get back I’ll try to start taking her out for a walk every day if it’s not raining from now on. I got to the town for half 11 even though my flight wasn’t scheduled to leave until 15:55. However when I saw that one of the trains had been delayed due to strikes I thought it would probably be best to get to the airport now rather than keep putting it off and risk the train I finally decided to get on being delayed. Even though I arrived at the airport with three hours to spare I still got myself checked in and through security since there’s more to do in the departures lounge. I mostly wandered around from cafe to cafe listening to a Chris Jericho podcast on my headphones and trying to come up with jokes from the paper I bought. I couldn’t quite comprehend that Dad and I had already been at this airport six months ago when we went to Los Angeles as that feels like a fucking lifetime ago now. But hopefully if this solo holiday goes well then I’ll be seeing a lot more of this airport. They started boarding us at 15:20 and thankfully the woman I got sat next to was an old boiler so I new I didn’t have to worry about body odor. If she’d been a really good looking woman then I’d have been worried about a little bit of piss getting on my boxers when I went to the toilet but since she was a munter I could relax. Speaking of good looking women My God flight attendants are fucking fit! 

I completely understand why airlines hire supermodel level women to do this job because customers will be more willing to fly with their airline again. But this brings into question why I was hired for my current job in the factory since I’m not required to interact with members of the public. It’s almost as if my amazing looks played no part in my getting the job at all but that can’t be right. Although all the other people who work at the factory are munters so I suppose I was probably hired so that they could have something nice to looks at…yeah that must be it. One of these goddesses asked me if I would like a drink. I asked for a can of coke and she said that would be £2.50. This is an outrageous amount of money to pay for a can of fucking Coke but something positive did come out of this. A little while later in the flight I thought that I good thing to have said when she’d told me the price of the Coke would have been “That’s more than this holiday cost!”. Normally I think of the perfect thing to say to a pretty girl when it’s a week too late but  I thought of this only two hours after it was too late so I’m definitely getting better thanks to this Jerry Seinfeld “Don’t Break The Chain” challenge. Hopefully If I keep at it I’ll get to the point where I start thinking of the perfect thing to say a couple of minutes after it’s too late. The pilot got us to Gran Canaria twenty minutes ahead of schedule and just like that I was in a foreign country by myself for the first time in my life. Because I didn’t bring a suitcase with me I just strolled past baggage claim into passport checks and out the front doors onto the coach waiting to take me to my hotel. It was easily the most pain / stress / boredom free journey I’ve ever been on. To my surprise the other cunts got their suitcases and were on the bus with me surprisingly quickly. Someone must have told them where I worked and that I desperately needed a nice, hassle free holiday and they decided to comply and get their shit together quickly. We got to the hotel after 45 minutes and although I wanted to take a look around I was knackered by this point so I got to my room and unpacked and went straight to bed. I’m so happy that the journey here turned out to be so straightforward and worry free as now I can relax and enjoy the next four (and a half) days by listening to music and reading my book in peace. Hopefully while I’m here there will be another outbreak of covid in the UK and I will be forced to stay in Gran Canaria for the foreseeable future.

[SEPTEMBER ‘21] - THE LIFE/WRITING UPDATE NO ONE ASKED FOR (AND SOME QUICK LINKS)

well, hello hello, welcome, it is september first and hogwarts is back in session, haha! where’s your letter, did you get it? i hope so!

in true gryffindor fashion, i’m a summer person. i like parties, the beach and hot weather, so i’m currently working hard, trying to delay the inevitable return of autumn and the dreaded back-to-school mood by staying in sunny southern france for a few more days. i’ll be back in dublin on saturday where, as per usual, rain has been scheduled to occur upon my return lol.

what i’m reading:

i’m actually quite happy with my book reading this month. i read a friend’s short-ish (27k) story, as well as two full books, and started a third. i wanted my holidays to be a time of catching up with missed reading opportunities, and it definitely was.

first, i read three rooms by jo hamya. i picked this one up because it was recommended by my bookshop, was written by a BAME author, marketed as a ‘millenial’ literary fiction novel which i’m always a sucker for, and the cover looked intriguing. the story is that of an unnamed narrator in her early/mid-twenties, navigating the end of her masters degree and her first job in london. to be honest, as i previously said in another post, i don’t particularly fancy myself as a book critic so i don’t really like to say negative things about the books i read. as an author, i know how hard things can hurt when people are talking about your writing sort-of behind your back and i’m always paranoid that the author might one day see what i’ve written, lol. this being said, what i will say about this book is that while not bad, it wasn’t really a fit for me. the writing is very good, crisp and quick just the way i like it (though if you get irritated by the current trend of not using quotation marks for dialogue, you might get irritated by this), but i just found it hard to relate to the characters. i think you will like this if you like books that are more about their setting and their world rather than plot or character. the author is really good at describing current britain, life in london, the book is brilliant at describing the millennial ‘world’ of social media, politics, etc. but its main character seems to just aimlessly float through her life without any sense of self or purpose, which i personally found very frustrating. the book addresses issues of class, poverty, temp contracts, housing prices, discrimination but it feels very much like a matter-of-fact statement rather than an actual argument to change things. the other characters are mildly more purposeful but very single-purpose and while the novel is interesting but it didn’t really make me feel anything beyond an intense desire to grab the narrator by the shoulders and scream: do something! three stars.

then, i read incendiary by chris cleave. full review here. this book is just unreal and the best fiction i’ve read in close to a year. if i could give ten stars i would.

i’ve now started an american marriage by tayari jones. unless you’ve been living under a rock, this has probably been recommended to you a billion times already, but what can i say, i’m always late lol. i’m only about 100 pages in but seems promising.

in terms of fanfic, i honestly haven’t read much bar this one fantastic spooks au of which i really wish there was more of. i have trolled all of livejournal and dreamwidth to find the rest and came up empty. tragic.

what i’m writing:

funny how the girl on a writing break still managed to put out circ. 9,000 words in a month, lol. granted, pick me choose me love me was written in july, but still.

this being said, i do feel like i took time off and i do feel way better than i did back in july. looking back, i was exhausted and burnt out and felt like i was mostly writing to fulfill people’s expectations, rather than to make me happy. i’m now feeling much more confident with my words. the story that i did write this month was a self-indulgent bit of fun because it was written for a fandom no one cares about, and rather liberating, if i’m honest. i think i needed to write something for me and my audience of three again, and it was great. i genuinely love that story. i do think that if you want to give it a try, it might be one of those that can be read without having watched the show in question because it’s about a side character so a lot of what’s in there is original rather than show-related. if you do want to read it, it’s here: listening to that angel choir.

in terms of upcoming projects, i’m happy to announce that i’m actually excited to get back to castles, which is exactly what i wanted this break to achieve. i’m waiting until i get back to dublin to get back to work but i’m ready to dive back in and honestly can’t wait. as i said above the cut, i would love to put it on the 19th September but i’m not sure that i’ll manage to whip out next chapter this quickly. it’s not unheard of, so we shall see. also, castles is turning a year old on 16 sep, which is absolutely fucking insane. i certainly did not think it would be this massive of a project when i undertook it, lol. the numbers on it both in terms of wordcount and appreciation/hits give me vertigo so i try not to look at them but honestly, i can’t thank you all enough. i know i always say this but i come from very small audiences and fandoms and the amount of love i’ve been getting this past year thanks to all of you has meant the world. thank you.

in terms of one shots, i’ll be mostly focusing on castles this month, so i probably won’t write anything else. this being said, for those of your on tumblr, just be aware that you might see me repost some of the tumblr ficlets that i posted on tumblr these past few months on ao3 soon-ish. i initially decided to keep them on tumblr alone because they were too short but i’ve been having anxiety about tumblr collapsing and these things disappearing into the ether. so, don’t be alarmed, they should be the same, just reposted.

what i’m doing:

honestly, this month has been amazing, especially the past three weeks. i’ve been able to relax, see family & friends, went hiking, had my birthday, hired a boat - it’s been fab. as alluded to before, i’ve also been having fun rewatching spooks, which is definitely a series worth watching, even ten years after it ended. i find it even more fascinating in light of what is going on in afghanistan at the moment, and of course the presence in the show of rupert penry-jones whom i think every straight woman with a pulse fancies, is an added bonus.

anyway, i hope you’re all doing well. see you next month for pumpkin spice lattes (yeah, look, i’m a basic white girl) and the beginning of my seasonal depression.

Cobra Kai Timeline

A lot of people (including myself, I’m gonna be honest here) are confused about the Cobra Kai timeline. And I think the problem is that the timeline is actually flawed in probably more than one way. Let’s try to break this down with Miguel’s timeline: - Miguel (16 years old) meets Johnny in Summer 2018 (01x01) - 1st day of school, 1st Sep 2018 (01x02) - Halloween, 31st Oct 2018 (01x03) - 50th All Valley Tournament, Dec 2018? (01x10)

Problem: The AVT in ‘84 was in December, so it would line up with the one in 2018. But why exactly would the next one be in May then? They never said they’re delaying it after they cancelled it and then brought it back.  And if the AVT of S1 actually took place in May, it would have not been 2018 anymore, but already 2019. - S2 basically takes place in summer - Valley Fest, around 4th July 2019 (02x03) - 1st day of school & Miguel’s accident, 1st Sep 2019 (02x10) - S3 is either fundamentally flawed or something doesn’t add up on my end - Miguel wakes up from his coma, 15th Sep 2019 (03x01) - Carmen tells Johnny Miguel is 17 years old (03x05) - Miguel is recovered and back at karate (03x07) - S3 finale, 19th Dec 2019? (03x10) Problem: Does the show want us to believe Miguel’s entire recovery from a serious spine injury and getting back into karate only took TWO MONTHS?! Because that makes no sense at all.  - 51st AVT is scheduled for May 2020? (S4)

Problem: It’s an under 18 tournament and some of the teens who were introduced as 16 years old in S1 are too old to participate, lol (Robby turns 18 on 4th Feb 2020). Also no year was skipped, so the next AVT should be in 2019 which can’t be true due to everything I listed above.
