Someone please make a Black brothers edit to the House of the Rising Sun.
“Oh mother, tell your children. Not to do what I have done. Spend your lives in sin and misery. In the house of The Rising Sun”
I mean come on….

succession is simultaneously a:
shakespearean tragedy
postmodern tragicomedy
drama about dysfunctional families and cycles of abuse/trauma
comedy about the absurdity of the ultra wealthy
surreal circus of repressed queerness
political critique of the toxicity of late-stage capitalism
trying to pinpoint exactly what kind of show it is feels impossible, and that's what makes it good – you can rewatch it and experience it from a different lens each and every time and i love it for that

There’s nothing quite like that feeling of listening to an album for the first time and knowing immediately that it will become embedded into your very being. Not yet fully seeing how it will be the soundtrack for your mornings and afternoons and evenings, but anticipating the inevitable and familiar ways it will envelop and intertwine with your quotidian life, like all of your favorites have. The way you understand, because it’s happened before, that soon you will know every word, every note, every breath, every inflection, as if it’s always been a part of you. That first time it’s fresh and vibrant and new, but you already know that soon it will be familiar and comforting — even, eventually, nostalgic. You already know that you’ll be singing along on some random Tuesday while doing the dishes, or dancing around to its familiar rhythms in your living room six months from now. Even from the very first time you press play and sit in grinning, wide-eyed thrill, or listen quietly, letting the lyrics wash over you, you know that this album, this art, this declaration from one soul, seemingly meant specifically for yours, is already carving out its place in your heart, as if it’s always had a place there.
