I’ve heard for years what a great game Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines is & VTM is the only TTRPG I’ve seriously played before, so I really want to play it. I read the community forums, I downloaded the most recent “unofficial patch”, and now I’ve fucked about in the game files as instructed, and all it’s done is fuck everything up worse. I have spent about 6 hours in the last 2 days attempting to play this game and the farthest I can make it is about 20min into the tutorial before I hit some kind of unsurmountable glitch or the game crashes so bad I have to force logout of my computer to get out of a black screen. I’m beginning to think the only way to play this game at all is if u have a degree in computer science bc how the fuck has the unofficial patch been getting updated for the last 20 years and it’s still totally unplayable :(

Not to think too deeply about writing Tumblr fiction, but I've noticed I've repeatedly been interested in the idea of "imagine a world like ours but with a difference: now post like someone from that world". I've done several posts like this, and I've seen similar premises reblogged around the place. Why not? It can be a fun idea to play with!

But the odd thing for me, is that this is basically the same idea as "THING dashboard simulator", you know? It's just a diffent format with the same basic idea, isn't it? Instead of one long post, you have multiple short posts (inside the real post) from different (fictional) authors, with the theme announced up front instead of in the story text itself.

And you might think why is that odd? Most basic story premises come in a few variations in how it works. So this one comes in two similar instances/memes. Seems normal enough.

Yeah but I personally like the former (a fictional post from a hypothetical different world), I dislike the latter (a "THING dashboard simulator").

And that's odd to me because I'm not really able to figure out why? They seem so similar!

Is it the premise announced upfront? Maybe I like the mini-puzzle of figuring out what the difference is in the story?

Is it that it's about a fictional difference rather than a real one? Like, the former is basically "how would people post in a world where we could all fly?" and the latter is "how would people post in ancient Rome?" and I just like the science-fictional element more?

No, it can't completely be that, because sometimes people do make posts in that style with science fictional premises rather than specific existing setting ones. I guess I could say that maybe it's more likely that? And it lowers the my enjoyment of it below some threshold?

The only other thing I can think of that really divides the two formats/premises is that one has a single fictional author and the other has multiple. I don't know if that really makes it less enjoyable for me, though. Maybe?

And possibly it's just all these options to some degree, and it just adds up to too much in my brain.

Newcomer : Simon Riley x reader pt 1

Ever since she was a kid she was learnt how to be obedient.

A good girl.

Always listening to her parents, doing whatever they told, listening, being the best student in the school, always with the best grades, sticking with the rules.

Some things changed when she entered the teenagerhood. The "rebel age". Questioning a lot of things, defying her parents, trying to find her own way. It didn;t exactly work well with her parents, who would much rather she was still a kid, that they could control in any way they saw fit. But since she stopped listening to words and taking them for granted, the methods of their behaviour upgraded as well.

Every time she did something her parents believed to be wrong (meaning: done in the way that was diffent from theirs) she was called names, yelled at and condemned to cold treatment until she apologises.

Whenever she tried fighting her way or proving her point or straight-forward call her parents on their bullshit she ended up on the floor, being choked or hit, screaming at the top of her lungs, scratching and wriggling in pain. Sporting the bruises and marks long after cause her father was not a man who took objection well and definitely not the one to pull his punches.

So she moved out.

But pretty much it didn;t change a lot in her mentality.

Yes, she became successfull and made a career.

Yes, she aced in the professional area.

But her personal life was a mess.

And while her "friends" were getting married and having kids she was alone, save for that one guy she was hanging around thinking he cared for her.

But it clearly was not enough.

Every family meeting was met with more and more intrusive questions and moralising that a woman her age should have a husband and a family and a proper life and not spending time solely on her work.

Constant comparision to the kids of her parents' friends was not good for her mental health, since obviously she was a failure in that juxtaposition.

No one ever ask how you doing anymore cause they know nothing good is happening in your life.

Truly there's nothing to say when my colleagues keep talking about their kids with nice family life.

I am just so tired of admiring other's kids without being able to show off my own grandkids!

As fucked up as all those comments from her parents were they were making her feel like a walking disaster. No one. A trash. It was like all her mother and father saw in her was an empty womb that seemed to be a disgrace for the family. Apparently, nothing else in her life was worth mentioning in this competition.

And it fucking hurt every time. Like a shot in the heart cause being alone was not something she choose.

But after months and months of hearing all those harsh words, she made a few mistakes....

Long story short, one night with her so-called-boyfiend ended up with her being pregnant.

And said boyfirend laughing in her face, while calling her a whore, profoundly explaining why the bastard was not his problem at all and leaving her alone, disappearing from her life.

Yes, she could have terminated, but it was not something she could live with in the long term.

So she was keeping the baby.

It was terrible on so many levels. Not only because they kicked her out, but also because they still wanted the girl who would follow their every order, not realising she was a grown up woman.

So obviously she left. Trying to wrap her head around what happened and figure how to deal with everything alone.

Wilhelmina Cutter Ruel Gauthier was born January 14, 2001 and was the first born out of her three siblings. Being the eldest sibling she has always been the favorite to her three siblings, something she does not understand.

Cutter since she was young has always hated her first name Wilhelmina and would grumble unhappily everytime someone called her that making Cutter become her nickname and the name she introduces herself as.

Cutter has always been grumpy and has been told many times she has a really bad resting face and tends to seem more annoyed than she truthfully is.

Playing hockey was always what Cutter has wanted to do since she was young, watching her dad play growing up made her love the sport.

Cutter met her best friend Rutger when she was thirteen as they joined the same hockey team, Rutger and Cutter are complete opposites and surprised everyone when they become such good friends.

Cutter has always had a temper on and off the ice and is known to get into fights on the ice, she’s very stubborn and doesn’t hesitate to fight for what she believes in and that tends for her to but heads with others.

She has always been use to never really fitting in anywhere, she never fit in with most girls as Cutter was always focused on hockey and could care less about dressing up and boys and she never fit in fully with the boys as many treated her like she was alien because she played hockey with the boys.

Cutter did finally feel like she fit in somewhere, specially when she joined U.S.A. hockey and none of the boys ever treated her any diffent and she formed bonds that were gonna last a lifetime and she found friendships with many of the girlfriend of her teammates and found she didn’t mind talking about boys or going shopping with them sometimes.

Rutger and Cutter are complete opposites but the few similarities they do share really draw them together and they work extremely well together, it may take Rutger quite a while to finally get his girl but he does her one day.

Damn! 2 chapter completed for my new Fire Emblem fic. I think I honestly just needed something new and refreshing for my brain to work on. I haven't abandoned any stories. And im still working on other wips.

But honestly it feels so nice to stretch my brain writing about different characters for a diffent story. This Sethrika fic wont be very long. Aiming for ten chapters or less. But it feels nice to write anout these characters ive adored for 17+ years.

Im not posting the story until its nearly complete just because I know its not gonna get any traction or readers and i dont want to accidentally discourage myself. FE8 is 20 years old, and I cannot imagine it has much of fandom anymore.

Ahh I'm usually working on multiple projects at once in diffent stages.

We have this bind, a hardback - almost done, just need to finish weeding the htv cover. Started reading it and halfway through decided to bind it lol

An almost complete paperback. I say almost as I completed it a week ago and then realized after it was done I fucked up. I purposely printed out two copies , and in the day between printing and assembling i forgot it was two and glued it all together. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

I did realize something was wrong after gluing it, but thought it was only half of it that double printed so ripped out 80 pages and finished it only to realize it was sandwiched in between. So now i need to rip of the cover, the last duplicate 80 pages and then re-glue lol

Which is such shame, as technical execution-wise, she was beautiful.

The parallels between Chayanne, Pomme and Empanada!!

They are all so diffent eggs. But one of their main objectives is the protection of the other eggs.

Chayanne is kinda the og protector of the eggs. It's been his goal for so long and for even more failures. He saw his siblings dying and promised protection for them again and again like it is a calling for him. And over and over wasn't he able to protect them.

Pomme was just born into the role. At first she was overwhelmed by the target on her back through the two lives. But with Etoiles as her father she managed to grow right into it. It's an assignment to her, which she has to complete. So the reset of the egg lives left her a bit disoriented (the brick to her head with the memory loss didn't help).

And Empanada had no choice but to learn how to protect herself and her two little siblings to survive. The first weeks she was only the sweet little egg, but with more equipment it became apparent that she knew how to fight. And at the first sight of danger she fell right back in the role of the protector, having done so for so long it's just natural for her.

A calling, an assignment, survival instinct. Their urge to protect comes just from so fundamental different angles and motivations.

I've had a few people say that it's morse code. And I'd like to point out a small flaw about it. Which morse code is it?
