Your blog is my favorite, I'm obsessed, no one does it like you when it comes to voxval 💕 Thank you for your service!
Can I ask your opinion, what do you think the day to day life is like between the Vees, how much are they really interacting in a day?
💕
Omg stahp it or my grandiosity will skyrocket asdfsga But honestly, thank you, it means the world to me that you like it.
Tumblr media
So, I think the Vees are besties, business partners, and kinda roommates. They're all big personalities, and I believe each of them needs their space, so they each own separate apartments in the tower but also share a big common space. They enjoy each other's company and often just vibe together when they have time because they're all extroverts, but they don't really like people outside of their mean girls' club. At least once a week, they have a mandatory meeting to exchange gossip and informal updates about each other's lives. Oh, they also love having sleepovers, either all three together or in pairs.
Valentino and Velvette do skincare together, paint their nails, design outfits, and talk about fashion, sex, art, and causing mayhem in society. Vox and Velvette discuss creating content, boosting engagement, business strategies, complain about Valentino, and plot to take down Carmilla. Vox and Valentino have kinky sex and fantasize about taking over the world and murdering people.
Tumblr media
They're not exactly a super wholesome, healthy found family, but they're doing their best? Being all egotistical maniacs, they find it hard to care in the traditional sense of the word. But they sometimes order food or coffee for each other, check on each other during rough times, and buy silly gifts.
Also, we know that Vox is kind of the leader of the group, and you probably know that I headcanon him as having strong bipolar tendencies. So, I believe that when he goes into a depressive episode, the rest seriously take care of him. Velvette looks after his business, covers for him during meetings, and takes control of his social media to fabricate some story about vacations, while Valentino tries to comfort him and sometimes offers appropriate pharmacotherapy.
Also I've just posted a bunch of silly Vees headcanons so you can check it because it includes some stuff I'd also put here.

quastion. if you had to give each of the nu carnival guys a present, what would you give to each one? oh and let's assume monies aren't a problem here
To answer your Quastion. If Monies are not an issue, and I can just the boys whatever the hell I want, then-
Eiden: I'm getting this boy every single craft supply I can think of. Fabrics, yarns, tule, buttons, clays, pen, pencils. I'm getting him everything. He's so friggin talented and just an artsy boy. He'd definitely have an etsy or two on the side of his actual job.
Aster: You didn't say the presents had to be objects. Plus Asters got SO MUCH MONEY. Boy could get anything he wanted at any time. Hell. He's the clan sugar daddy. If I was getting him a gift, it would definitely be something practical. And Honestly, I'd probably just get him more staff. He's got so many things he's running, I'm sure he'd really appreciate the help, and especially, that he's not the one paying for it.
Morvay: Similarly to Aster, I wouldn't really get Morvay an object. What I would get him though, is food. He's a bit of a greedy boy. He's always getting yelled at by aster for sneaking out and feeding, and constantly getting overworked. I think he deserves a place where he can relax and indulge in his favorite things. I'm sure there's some club out there that has membership option and would allow him to just go ham.
Yakumo: Cooking tools seems too easy. I'm sure he's already got everything he needs. You know what? I'm actually gonna get him some alone time with Eiden. I'm getting them a vacation together. I'm gonna send him and Eiden off somewhere real private. Do you know how happy he'd probably be? Boy is so possessive. He'd be OVER THE MOON about having Eiden all to himself for like a week. And I'm sure Eiden would be happy about spending time with him too. Gross honeymooning ass bitches.
Edmond: I'm getting him all the porn and sweets he wants. Just because I know he's gonna be a bitch about it. I would know. I'm the same. "No, I'm not allowed to get this. People will look at me weird if I get that" and Now look at me. I have a whole shelf full of those books. I'm getting him all of it AND, He didn't spend any of his money on it so he can't feel ashamed about it. It was gifts. Now go. Be free.
Olivine: I saw a post somewhere about Oli not having any of his own clothes and how they would take him on a shopping spree and honestly same. And I'd help him pick out the sluttiest, most rebellious clothes possible. I was raised catholic. I know. I know how hard it is. We're going to get you so many things with Religious undertones so it feels safe, AND like you're breaking the rules at the same time.
Quincy: Gosh. He's such a simple dude. All forest man and shit. He probably would not accept anything that would make his life easier. Any more modern versions of tools he already uses would probably be rejected with a "This one works fine/better anyway" Getting a bunch of treats for topper might make him happy though. Actually might just get him something SUPER dad coded. Like a Flask/Canteen. Probably would say he doesn't need it, but would secretly use it anyway.
Kuya: We're getting him all the dumb weird shit. Mans has a collection of dumb weird shit. He's like Blade. Anything he finds intriguing he just keeps. I'm getting this man an old beat up Bakugan. "Check it out. It's opens when you place it on this card but ONLY on this card!" Do you know how psyched he would be??? He's so fucking simple. I'm getting him those boxes that show one character in one window, and another character on the other window.
Garu: I don't think he can have too many toys. I'm getting him so many more toys than what Eiden has already gotten him. Lots of meat too. Oh! And I'm getting him art supplies as well! His art fills me with joy. I love him.
Karu: ALRIGHT. I'm giving him play time. I'm buying/building him a whole play set. He wants to be ruler of everything and I am going to give him that. I am going to spoil the shit outta this puppy. I will get him his own little throne room. He's getting his own little kingdom where he is king, and EVERYONE BOWS TO HIM! He's also getting so much meat too. All Hail the Mighty Karu!!
Blade: I'm also getting him art supplies. Art supplies and Books! If we can find some that he hasn't read yet. Honestly the library is massive. Oooooh but if we go to a book store, there's bound to be new releases of something, and he'll read anything just to have read it, I'm sure he'd really appreciate that!
Dante: A vacation mother fucker. Shut up. Listen Child. I Don't want to hear it. Spa now. Break. Rest. Relaxation. Think of NOTHING. You know what? I'mma throw Eiden in there too. He'd probably help you a lot. Just like how Eiden would be a good part of the gift, for Yakumo, I feel the same goes for him as well. And also, Lots of gifts for Sooley.
Rei: Therapy. Notebooks. Lot's of notebooks. Replacement's for any Equipment he's broken. Some art supplies. Mostly charcoals for his sketches. All practical stuff too. I'd offer to fix some of his personal items, but...I think he prefers them dinged up and broken. Has a bit of a comfort in that. So the supplies would probably be most appreciated by him.

episodic - part 3
< back | next >
---------------------
Summary: It's business as usual. At least it looks like it, and that has to count for something. The boys do a bit of arts and crafts. Krupp takes a step back.
A/N: literally the worst part of writing fic for CU is trying to think of pranks. they’re up there with choreographing fight scenes. also these next chapters were brought to you by: me referencing the movie’s art book i got as a gift. Locations And Fascinating Objects section my beloved…
this chapter's scene went through a lot of shuffling-- melvin was supposed to be in this one. but alas, once this was finalized he was pushed back into the next chapter. ideally. at the earliest. its been almost 4 years, i swear he actually has a part to play in this AU, he's technically part of the core secondary cast--
---------------------
Back in the present day, the boys snuck into the art room. Even now, there wasn’t a proper class for it in Jerome Horwitz, despite The Prank For Good. But because of it, Krupp never had the thought to put it under lock and key again. The doors still remained unlocked for any kid that needed it. And George and Harold had a big need. In fact, they had been caching away supplies when no one was looking.
Captain Underpants trailed behind them; he looked at the room and gave a small nod, murmuring something about being “back at the start”.
“What will we be doing this time, sidekicks?” He clapped his hands together. “Oh! I could try and ask for a carnival again–”
“NO!” both of them shouted. The hero jumped up in surprise and stayed in a low hover.
George was the quicker of the two to regain composure. “No, no– we’re doing something different.”
“Oh.”
Harold unpacked the contents of his bag. There was a ridiculous amount of flour and bottles around them, along with other plastic pails and shovels.
“Ooh, are we making a cake? Can I decorate it?” Captain asked.
George sighed. “It’s not for a cake.”
“Well, what is it for?”
Harold dumped a bunch of flour and oil into the largest bucket with the glee reserved for children about to make a huge mixture of stuff. “Sand!”
When the hero continued to look baffled, George cut in. “With Krupp instating the grade-wide assignment gauntlet, we have to retaliate with the exact opposite of that.”
“…Recess?”
“Close!” Harold began to mix the concoction with a plastic shovel. “Summer vacation!”
“And we need to make a lot to really sell the beach vibe.”
“Oh…” Captain nodded with the confidence of someone who had no idea what that meant. He knelt down and gave a curious sniff at the flour sand, catching the faint whiff of some sort of cooking oil.  mix his own bucket the other boy handed to him.
To make a long story short, they managed to create enough of it to create a sizable layer in at least two classrooms. They hauled the first half of it to Guided’s classroom–or rather, Captain flew it over in record time. He began to push all the desks back and started to stack them high up against the edges of the wall. It reminded Harold of that one time he showed George a boardwalk on a faded postcard, tall buildings looming over sandy beaches.
“Why only two?” Captain asked as he stacked some of the desks on the teacher’s desk. “Why not make the whole school a beach?”
The boys perked up from their efforts to place the sand evenly across the classroom floor.
“‘Cause the first big tests are in Ms. Guided and Ribble’s classrooms,” Harold said.
“We’d have loved to do something big," George explained as he scattered the beach toys. "Really put the last big prank that happened here to shame–”
“But we had to improvise. Go for lots of smaller ones for the first part of this plan, you know?”
“First part?” Captain echoed.
“Yeah!” Harold continued, ushering them all out of the room. Captain followed in a low hover, and George swept over the remaining footprints with a hand. Looking back at their work, it looked like no one was ever in the room.
“The first bit is to wear all the teachers and Krupp down. And then–”
“Bam.” he punched into his own open palm. “That’s where you come in!”
Captain tilted his head. “I thought this was where I came in?”
“What? No– I mean, we appreciate your help, but you have a bigger part to play here.”
“I do?” he asked.
“We figured you’d want to get back at Krupp, right?” George said.
Captain was silent, his expression dumbfounded.
“With enough pressure, he’ll back off from you and he’ll back off with all the sudden assignments!” Harold clarified. “It’ll be great.”
“We’re not sure how long he’s planning on making everyone miserable, but we’re planning for the long game.”
That seemed to make things more murky for him but the curiosity still remained. He tilted his head with furrowed brows, as if trying to figure out the connection between the two facts. “…How long, exactly?”
“As long as it takes.” Harold gave him a good natured punch to the side. “Now come on, let’s get the other classroom set up.”
The boys grabbed his hands and led him back to the art room, chatting about what else they could do.
---------------------
The school didn’t know what hit them.
Later that day, the fourth graders enjoyed the slices of beaches in the pair of classrooms. They made their sandcastles and moats as the teachers tried– and failed– to get their papers from their desks buried under their own students’ desks.
And on the day after that, there was the petting zoo in the math classrooms on the same day a calculator-less test on long division was meant to happen. It was no tiger, but the kids enjoyed petting the sheep. For extra salt in the wound, there were numbers drawn in bright colors on their wool.
Corralling the animals out was one thing. Finding out they were only Sheeps #1-6 and 8 was another, leaving all the teachers to scramble to find the last sheep of the set for the past few hours.
Apparently, the third time wasn’t the charm as George and Harold were called into the principal’s office. When they walked in, he had never bothered to close one of the desk drawers, clearly embroiled in whatever work principals do. Krupp was faced away from them, yelling into the phone.
“How many times do I have to explain it to you, there probably isn’t a Sheep #7– are you falling asleep counting them?” He turned to face them and grimaced. “I’ll get back to you.”
He hung up the phone, glaring at them as they took their respective seats.
“Care to explain the last few days?”
Harold shifted in his seat as he gave a glance to the other boy. “We have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“We were a bit too busy dealing with the sudden wave of assignments and tests to try anything,” George added with a shrug.
“Don’t play innocent with me. The gaps in my memory are extremely obvious.” He waggled an accusatory finger at them.
“Like we said, we were busy–”
“What– watching him get bit by sheep yesterday?!” He held up his other arm filled with band aids of various sizes.
George leaned over to the other boy and whispered, “Man, they can be really vicious, huh?”
Krupp slammed his fists onto his desk. He opened his hands. Closed them. Before pushing himself off his seat to look down at them. “Whether you’ll actually admit it, I’ll cut to the chase. Stop whatever you’re trying to do.”
“If it was us, why would we? You started it.”
“Oh, hah–” He let out an incredulous, breathless laugh at that. “I started it? You’re one to talk after all you’ve done to me. You should be grateful I don’t just hold you back right now for that comment!”
Harold was unmoved. “Man, you got so much worse– I didn’t think that was possible.”
“Oh, I can do so much worse after your little breaking and entering stunt,” he shot back. “Invading my privacy, looking into things you shouldn’t–”
“So you admit you were talking to him.”
“Now I never said anything about talking, have I?”
George and Harold leveled a glare at him, refusing to give him any confirmation or satisfaction that he was right. “So that is why you cracked down on the entire fourth grade, huh?”
“Or maybe it has to do with the fact that I’m losing sleep over mysterious injuries!” The boys wanted to speak up, but he refused to give them that. “And– and, seeing the school be nearly destroyed multiple times a week.”
“Not like you really cared about the school before,” George grumbled.
Krupp spluttered furiously, turning a new shade of red in the process. “Says the children who keep on endangering it and wasting its resources!"
“We’re saving the school!”
“From problems you made up.” He slowly made his way around his desk to them. “Is that why you made me your little stooge? Were you just tired and wanted to feel important in your little superhero fantasy? Or was getting rid of me the main motivation here?”
George stood up from his chair. “Oh, if we could have, we would have!”
As soon as the words left his mouth, it suddenly felt like the office had turned somewhat askew. Gone was the red in Krupp’s face and gone was the anger– if anything, he looked like he had been slapped in the face. His mouth opened. Closed. Nothing.
The boys were suddenly aware of the clock ticking, now that it was completely silent. George couldn’t help but be reminded of the time he said something that crossed some unseen line with his mom.
And just as quickly as the conversation was fishtailing out of what any of them were used to, the principal clambered for any sense of control.
“I’ll deal with the both of you later.” He put up a hand to rub his temples– and conveniently hid his eyes. “Get out.”
Harold blinked. “What–”
“NOW!” He whipped his arm to point at the door.
They stumbled out of their seats and ran without a second thought.
---------------------
For the rest of the last class of the school day, Harold was sitting on pins and needles as he looked at the clock. While most kids looked at it expectantly for the final bell to ring, right now he was dreading it.  He figured George was doing the same.
Krupp getting the jump on them was a matter of when today , not if, especially when he was as mad as he was earlier.
Five minutes. He glanced to the front of the class. Even Rected was struggling with the new mandate to increase kids’ work. Which, he guessed, made sense– more work for them meant more stuff the teachers had to look at.
Two minutes.
Speaking of work, he was quickly scribbling out some ideas for the next issues. Though he couldn’t help but let his mind wander off to the other prank plans they had– he figured by the way Rected was pulling at his hair, they can bring Captain in for the cherry on top by the end of next week–
The speakers screeched to life. There was a beat of silence long enough for someone to ask if Krupp called an announcement on accident, until–
“Pop science fair, end of this week,” he said tersely. “Hope you can wow the teachers, since this is now a good chunk of your mark. How much? That’s the ‘pop’ part of that.”
The kids began to groan and slam their heads on their desks. Even more heads fell on their desks as another screech echoed through the school.
“You have George Beard and Harold Hutchins to thank for that. That will be all.”
The bell rang. One by one, everyone turned his direction, some shocked, others confused, many furious. Even Mr. Rected gave a baffled look.
After dodging the onslaught of kids ready to hound him or worse due to the announcement, he found George running down the hallway for similar reasons. At some point along the way, the other boy got their skateboards and helmets. With a frantic throw, they skateboarded out of the front yard and down the quickest route to their house.
“George?” Harold said, once they turned to their street. He had been eerily silent the whole time.
The other boy jumped off his own board and pulled his helmet off. He could see how much sweat was on his forehead now.
“Change of plans–” He stomped the end of the skateboard to make it stand before quickly grabbing it. “We’re taking stock of everything tonight.”
Harold stared at him. He knew why– he could still feel a flare of indignation from that announcement.
It was like George read his mind. “What Krupp said– those were fighting words. We’re going to move the Captain Plan up next.”
He gave a curt nod.

Whumptober Day 11: Loneliness
Packing Up
Akira: Almost ready?
Yusuke was done packing an hour ago. He didn’t have much to bring to the dorm, and he doesn’t have much to take when he leaves it.
Yusuke: A couple more minutes
Akira: U sure u don’t need help?
Yusuke: Yes, I just need a moment.
A large duffle bag and a few boxes are all he needs before heading to the train station to his new dorms at Osaka University.
The others are going to drive him down to the train station and see him off, and childishly, Yusuke wants to hide in the closet so he doesn’t have to say goodbye. That’s what he did when Nakonahara left.
But he’s the one leaving now, after spending his senior year with half his friends outside of Tokyo.
Osaka University gave him a good scholarship. Room, board, a meal plan, and a stipend for the school store. It’s the most generous offer he’s received of any of the school’s he’s applied to, and his friends were so happy for him.
Now instead of seeing half his friends occasionally he’ll be all alone on the other side of the country.
Maybe he doesn’t have to go, maybe he can stay in Tokyo, work part-time jobs and make his art on the side. Get his own apartment and visit with his friends and not have to face truly living alone for the first time.
But, that wouldn’t make him happy, would it? He wants to make a name for himself, to finally overcome Madarame’s name being attached to him, and to prove his former Sensei hasn’t ruined the careers of everyone in his care.
And it’d be nice, wouldn’t it? To go back to Tokyo a successful artist, purchase and renovate the atelier, and turn it back into a place filled with pupils, but one that actually cared about its students. That stood behind them and advocated for them, everything Yusuke wanted but never got.
He can’t get there working part-time and living in a small apartment.
A BFA means connections, more people seeing his work, more resources to help those future pupils, and learning how to teach from people who aren’t frauds.
All it means is leaving his friends behind, at least for a little bit. Being truly alone.
“Hey, there you are!” Ryuji wraps his arm around Yuskue’s shoulder and pulls him into a side hug. “You’re gonna miss your train!”
“Yusuke?” Ann says. “You’re crying.”
Yusuke turns to see Akira, Morgana, Ann, and Ryuji facing him.
“What’s wrong?” Morgana asks. “You’re not gonna miss this place, are you.”
“I’m going to miss you all,” Yusuke says, wiping his sleeve.
“Awwww, come on, it’s not like we’ll never see each other,” Ryuji says. “We’ll have vacations.”
“Plus we’ll probably text every day,” Akira says. “If Ann can keep a conversation going from Italy, she can certainly keep one going from here.”
“Not that you’ll need it!” Ann says quickly. “Becuase you’ll make a bunch of art friends in Osaka and talk about stuff like Pluralism or whatever?”
“Pluralism isn’t an art movement,” Yusuke says. “And I’ve never made friends before.”
“Hey, what are we?” Morgana asks.
“You barged into my house and tried to badger me for information on Madarame while he was in the house, and then I threatened to call the cops on you so you would leave,” Yusuke points out. “That’s not the same as making friends by simply meeting people.” And before them, he was completely alone.
“Ok well, definitely don’t call the cops on them,” Ann says. “And don’t ask them to model nude.”
“There’s probably a nude drawing class I can attend.”
“There, and after that class you go up to someone and ask if they want to get lunch!” Ryuji says. “Food’s like the fastest way to make friends.”
“Or tell someone their art sucks,” Ann says. “That’s what Shiho did.”
Yusuke frowns. “I would never do that, I want to encourage people’s art.”
“Of course,” Akira says. “You’ll figure it out. Don’t worry. And if you’re really lonely you can head to Kyoto and bother Zenkichi all day.”
That makes Yusuke crack a smile. “I suppose.”
Morgana hops off Akira’s shoulder and onto Yusuke’s. “You’ll be finneeee,” he says. “You’re gonna kick ass and in four years you’ll probably have your own art show in Tokyo that Ryuji can’t afford to attend.”
“Hey!”
“I’ll reserve tickets for you,” Yusuke says.
“Yeah, yeah,” Ryuji says. “But come on, let’s get you on that train first.”

Hiii!! Wondering if you can do some (separate) romantic fluff headcanons with jade and Floyd
꒰୨୧﹒Twisted Wonderland - Fluff Hcs for Floyd and Jade Leech
Ofc! I love the tweels so much.
Also, as an additional note for everyone. This will be the last request that I write until January 8th, as I will be going on vacation starting tomorrow. Sorry for the long wait! I will leave my requests open, though, but it may take some time for me to get to them.
Warnings: None
Tumblr media
Floyd Leech
• He is a pro at gift-giving. He keeps mental notes of all of your likes and dislikes and uses that information to get you the perfect gifts for special occasions (or whenever he feels like it)
• Lots of gentle but firm squeezes. It doesn't matter where you are, he'll just slither behind you and start snaking his arms around your waste. It's kind of a sensory thing for him. It makes both him, and possibly you, feel secure. He won't do it if it makes you uncomfortable, though
• Very much on the protective side. If anyone even looks at you with a hint of intention to harm you he's instantly behind you, a shark-tooth grin plastered on his face as he throws a menacing look to whoever is bothering you. It's kinda like having your own bodyguard
• He likes taking showers/bathes with you. It's more fun than taking them by himself. He'll even offer to wash your hair if you wash his in return
• I hc that Floyd enjoys playing in the rain because it reminds him of home. He’ll drag you outside to jump around in the puddles, dance in the rain, or have "mud fights" with him
• Adores arts and crafts. He has a specialty in making jewelry out of seashells. No one knows how he has such a knack for it, but everything he makes looks so lavish and professional. He loves showing them off to you (and even lets you keep some)
• One of his favorite things to do during his free time teaches you how to dance. Partner dances are his favorite, both because he gets to dance with you, and because he’s never really had the chance to try out any partner dances
• He doesn’t always know how to comfort you when you’re upset, so most of the time, he’ll opt to sit next to you or hold you (whatever you’re comfortable with) to remind you that you aren’t alone
• He is TALL. He's going to tease you if you're shorter than him (which let's be honest, considering his height, you most likely are /lh), probably by holding your possessions above your head or just generally messing with you. He'll stop if you tell him he's taking it too far. His height comes with it's advantages as well, for example, warmer hugs!
• If you're a sucker for horror like Floyd, than scary movie nights are a must! He brings a bunch of snacks and the two of you get under the covers of his bed and binge all night. He likes it when you get scared and cling onto him lol
• Floyd has a better singing than most would expect him to. He likes to hum to you, especially when you're both about to go to sleep
• More than happy to go clothes shopping with you. He's picked up quite the fashion sense since he's ventured onto land. He'll help you pick out cute outfits that you enjoy and make you feel comfortable. In turn, he also lets you help pick out clothes for him. You and Floyd will probably end up with at least one matching pair of clothes after a shopping trip
• Super distracting during class. He's always passing you notes, sneaking his hand into yours, and just overall trying to get your attention to focus on him. He can't help it! The guys a bit of a hopeless romantic. If you call him out after class, he'll pretend to have no idea what you're talking about
Tumblr media
Jade Leech
• A gentlemen with you. He’s does little things like take off your coat or pull out your seat. You may assume he does this out of habit (and ngl maybe that’s partially true), but it’s also because he loves you and he wants to treat you nicely
• He makes extra sure that you’re taking care of yourself, making sure you’ve catered to your every needs. He’s observant, and can easily tell when you’ve upset or over-working yourself. Don’t even try to be stubborn because he’ll find a way to drag you to the bed or couch so he can pamper you
• The best caretaker when you’re sick! He has everything ready for you before you have the chance to ask. Need a temperature check? The thermomotor is ready. Thirsty for some water, juice, tea, or any beverage of choice? He’s got it covered. Feeling too hot or too cold? He’s got blankets and a rag with a cold bowl of water. All of his attention is going to be on you and making sure you feel better in no time
• He loves taking you with him to go mushroom collecting. Not only is it more efficient to have two people doing the collecting, but he also gets to spend quality time with you and involve you in one of his biggest hobbies (Azul and Floyd didn’t really get it). Afterward, he buys a giant glass ball and you work together to create a special terrarium
• He’s grateful if you let him rant about mushrooms, especially if you start to show genuine interest in his rambles. In turn, he’ll always be happy to hear you rant about your own interests
• Picnic dates! Jade loves the outdoors. He knows all the best picnic spots that are nice and secluded
• Plans out “spa days.” They take place at home, and he gets a bunch of recommendations for self-care products from Vil. Not only do these days help you to relax, but it also reminds him that he needs to relax every now and then too
• You like to cook together. He enjoys trying out new recipes with you, even if you claim that you can’t cook. He just likes spending time with you
• He almost always wakes up before you. He’ll usually get out of bed and start his day, but sometimes he’ll just lay there and gaze at your sleeping form (how do I make this NOT sound creepy). He doesn’t know how to describe it, but something about watching you in such a peaceful state makes him feel at ease
• Jade loves telling you stories about his childhood, typically ones that involve Azul and Floyd. They’ve been close for years, so he has a lot of entertaining stories to look back on. It also helps to bring you two closer together
• Similar to Floyd, he’s protective of you (with a hint of possessiveness), though he’s much more discreet about it. He’ll watch over you from afar (not in a creepy way, he just gets worried from time to time). If you try to call him out on it, he’ll deny it
• I think Jade would also have a secret talent for creating jewelry out of seashells and other beach items. They’re not as extravagant as Floyd’s ones, but he puts a lot of love and care into making them. He’ll be more than happy to take the time to teach you how to make them
• Typically compliments aren’t enough to “fluster” him, but when they’re coming from you, he can’t help but feel a bit bashful (a surprise coming from someone as calculating as Jade). He clears his throat and tries to shrug it off but part of him get’s a bit giddy when you compliment him. He’ll never admit it, but he wouldn’t mind if you complimented him more often

uhhhhmuhgawhhhh
ok this has been a long fucking month.
i am back in buffalo. i am in my house. i had to find my pillow, which had gotten misfiled. but i have had a slep, i have gotten catsnuggles, i have gotten *cough* we'll call them dudesnuggles. i have awoken. i have made my coffee the way i like it. i am on a couch on my computer and don't have to do anything for at least an hour.
now i can tell to you the Saga of All Of It.
so like ok August was a really rough month. It was just-- busy, and I had been tentatively on a three-weeks-on, one-week-off schedule at the farm, and had thus managed to visit Buffalo like, well once this summer but you know. Anyway the last time I was home I'd spent the entire time helping Dude's mom clear out his aunt's house, so it hadn't exactly been relaxing or let me do any of my own projects, but it had been something. But I got back to the farm and it was go-go-go-go, and then BIL and Farmsister and Farmkid and my mom went on vacation together for a week so I had to watch the house and fill in some farm duties especially dealing with the farmer's market and such, and then they got back and it was a frantic game of catch-up, and then the Livestock Manager got married so he had a week off before and a week after, prearranged but the amount of work was still the same. And it meant that BIL especially was very overworked and was horribly cranky about it and, I'm not gonna tiptoe around it, was real fuckin mean to specifically me for a bunch of it, so that sucked out loud. And in the midst of all of this there were a couple of events where everybody else was invited to a thing and I had to stay home and cover for the absences. And it all kinda piled up and like, I'm a grown ass woman and can handle not being invited to things but it was a lot of things. And I tried, in the middle there, to celebrate my birthday a little bit? but there wasn't a ton of time, I found out Friday afternoon that I'd be able to have Saturday off, so I did scrape together an expedition for myself to a nearby art museum at least but that was the sum total of it, a flying visit from a friend for which I had like four free hours and then had to return to work, and dude visited for the weekend and I got to spend a couple hours looking at art. That was it.
So I was really tired and really done, and this final week BIL was just like outright shitty to me, yelling at me about things that either 1) went against a policy he'd made up earlier, like using a particular method of cleaning on a particular floor drain which he had specifically told me not to do, clearly changed his mind about, and then was furious i hadn't done, but see I wasn't notified of the mind change there so I didn't know? anyway, or 2) were things that I'm not in charge of and I just happened to be the person closest to him when he noticed that something hadn't been done the way he thought it should have specifically been done today even though there would have been reasons at other times to not do it like that, and in fact in this case later it became useful that it had been done as it was, and-- just anyway. It was stuff normally I'd not be so upset about but at the culmination of this extremely thankless-grinding month I was just distraught.
So I got my work done early enough to leave at midday on Friday. And I did, after lunch I did a tiny bit more work but left the farm before 2pm, absolutely giddy at the thought of getting home to Buffalo in time for dinner.
And traffic was annoyingly heavy on 787, but all was fine and doable and not a problem until some jackass decided to cut into the entrance ramp for the 90 at the last possible second and some even bigger jackass decided that the only way to react to this was by theatrically overreacting by coming to a complete fucking stop and so
well i hit the person in front of me, and the person behind me hit me, and the person behind her hit her, and we all pulled off on the side of the road and had to wait for the cops. My hood was crunched shut, and my exhaust system, already having become noisy from part of a pipe rusting through, snapped clean in half.
But nothing was leaking. And nobody was hurt. The lady in the car behind gave me her number and left, because she had dogs in the car who were likely to overheat in the 90F high humidity, and also recently a woman had been killed on the side of this very road in this very situation and she was too afraid to wait. But the ladies in the car ahead were nice and offered me a drink from their cooler and just seemed tired but not mad, and had already called the cops which was great because I had forgotten how to operate my phone in all the kerfuffle.
So we waited for a state trooper to show up-- and notably, he was actually really nice, very reassuring, understanding of how I was also on the phone with my insurance company (also very nice, and I had to have her on the car speaker because the traffic noise was so much i couldn't hear my phone microphone at all, and I was so distracted I kept being like "you want me to what" and then not hearing the answer-- telling her my license plate number was like the most difficult thing for some reason), and he got us to move our cars to a different off-ramp where there was less traffic, and we filled out all the paperwork and stuff and he gave me directions for how to get back to the westbound interstate. He called the lady from the car behind me, for me, and the two of them explained to me that since there was negligible damage I didn't actually have to report that accident if I didn't want to, and so I was like okay fine let's not even bother, since it has to be a whole separate accident report and none of the damage to my car is from that accident. (Not visibly anyway, though I expect it's probably why the exhaust system did what it did-- still though, not likely to be relevant. Even though surely the accident I did report is going to be determined to be my fault, but this second one wouldn't be-- it wouldn't help anything.)
I took off and immediately realized I wasn't going to be able to drive the car as it was, and helpfully a man pulled up next to me at that light and said "your exhaust system is definitely dragging, do you know about it?" and I said wearily "I was just in an accident so thank you for helping me identify what the problem actually is", and went past the on-ramp into the parking lot of a fire hall right there that happened to also be a pokemon gym in my color. I sat for a moment, put a defender in the gym (thanks, random team instinct person, for having taken that gym half an hour previous, that cheered me up a bunch), and then got out of my car, found a work glove I knew I'd thrown in there, crawled under the car a bit, and tucked the muffler pipe up to sit on top of the catalytic converter so it wouldn't drag on the ground. (I don't know that the glove was necessary but I do know exhaust systems get real fuckin hot so i do recommend gloves if handling any of those parts on a car that's been running lately.)
It worked, it held, and I was like well. Car runs. Hood's all cattywumpus but it's definitely not going to fly open because it's literally crimped shut. Already had some front-end damage on this thing from an accident we mutually decided not to report a couple years back-- very minor but the plastic is cracked and the foglight mount damaged. Well now it's proper fucked, so that's fine. I was going to have to find a mechanic to repair the muffler assemblage anyway, it was already loud as fuck, so now it's just done with the polite fiction of being an exhaust system.
So I walked around the car, open and shut all the doors to make sure they still did, and then got in and got onto the Thruway. Fuck this shit, I was not going to drive back to the farm and then have to rely on a bunch of people of whom I'm slightly tired and who are clearly also slightly tired of me to have to ferry my ass around, and miss my extremely extremely necessary week off of work (because you know if I'm there I'm going to fucking do work on the farm, that's how it works, I have no boundaries).
All I wanted was to see a person (and cat) who actually enjoy my company and want to see me.
So I put in earplugs because the noise was not great, and drove 300 miles, and arrived just before dark, and pulled into the driveway and Chita was so surprised to see me that she came right out to me even though i was still sitting in my car. She doesn't like cars, hates them when they're moving and really doesn't like being in them, but she does like to sit under them when they're off.
Tumblr media
[image description: a small gray cat with her paws up on the running board of a blue car, peering in the open driver's side door with motion-blurred interest; the foreground is my bare leg and the hem of my dress and my filthy car floor]
So I'm home, and I have already done all the awkward phone calls, and I was expecting I'd need to call the garage my insurance company has set up to do the assessing (that's how my insurance company does it) but the text of it says they'll call me. i still might call them midmorning today to see if they're open. IDK I don't even care what happens now, I'm home and I've had my own coffee and my cat missed me and my dude missed me and i'll just figure the rest out later.

Prepare those calzones rojos and don't choke til you swallow that twelfth grape.
Any "best of '23" lists you wanna expose to this here tumblr audience?
I've waited until the very end to answer this, since my yearly vacation lines up with the last week of December, allowing maximum time to devote to "gaming like a monster". I still didn't play shit for new games this year, but I am confident that every title on this list makes Baldur's Gate 3 and Tears of the Kingdom look like a bunch of muddy, wet shit:
Tumblr media
Heart of the Killer
The 8th and penultimate episode in thecatamites' Anthology of the Killer series, which in aggregate is the most compelling project to come out of the medium in recent memory. Follow zinester and aspiring murder victim BB as she navigates a strange world of maniac killers and maniac killer paraphernalia. Combines the warm trappings of pulp horror and associated genre schlock with the profound literary sense and humor of the author. Boasts the rare perfect art design.
This one features 'liminal spaces' and is about the regulation and dictation of desire. Oh shit!
Tumblr media
Varney Lake
Another 'pixel-pulp' title by the Argentine LCB Studio, this time a King or Bradbury-esque portrait of mournful childhood nostalgia set in the summer of 1954. Three friends find a dracula in the woods and he turns out to be basically just a stand-up kind of guy. Sincere, intelligent writing and gorgeous CGA-inspired art that transcends mere imitation of that style.
Pseudo-sequel to the fantastic Mothmen 1966 and best enjoyed in sequence with that game.
Tumblr media
Stomp Plonk
It's just good old-fashioned fun to stomp and plonk around in Marek Kapolka's wordless fantasy world. The character designs and animation here bring me a lot of joy. Sometimes a game just needs to be a collection of little cretins.
Tumblr media
Pseudoregalia
Sharply designed 3D metroidvania based on an earlier game jam project. Strangely melancholic tone and a nice, expressive moveset. One of the more engaging translations of the genre to 3D.
You can tell the developer didn't expect so many eyes on this because the protagonist has her big goat ass hanging all the way out and they had to include a toggle for pants in the options menu.
Honorable Mentions:
Shards of God: point-and-click agatha christie murder mystery set on a dune-esque desert planet. good
Orbo's Odyssey: kinetic 3d platformer. movement funny... but good?? slay 4 golden draculas
Kowloon's Curse: Lost Report: any game with an explorable desktop w/ fake sites and shit is good
Tommy Gun Witches: if you haven't seen the main promo screen for this game, there's still time for you to correct that
DOCTRINESPACE: cool twine game about a future where crypto bullshit is king, and the doctrines are hotter than ever
Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days: mostly about killing chinese police officers and any civilians foolish enough to enter your line of sight. kane and lynch are craaaaazy!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2023 games that I would like to have played but couldn't squeeze in: Blasphemous 2, Crypt Underworld, Bahnsen Knights, Knuckle Sandwich, 24 Killers etc.

I was sleepy. And i had done very little since the morning so i decided to get up and make myself a cup of coffee, as i walked into the kitchen and put my milk on the stove adding generous amounts of instant coffee in it and not enough sugar, i realise I don't have any cups left. Susheela bai has decided that my exams were the perfect time to take an extended vacation. Alone. She could've asked me too, we've only known each other a few months but I'd have liked an escape too. I dream about spending a vacation in shimla, or probably some pilgrimage spot with susheela bai and her family as i wash a mug. The coffee is ready and too hot for me to drink. So i take it to the balcony, come coffee-in-a-freshly-washed-mug™, see the sky with me. Because it's lonely to stare at the sky alone. I stir the coffee in futile attempts to cool it down. Its hot and in no mood to cool down. I give up and let entropy be. Sky is blue. Clouds present. It is pretty. Poetic nonsense and other shit. The coffee is finished and the coffee mug is dirty again. And, now a few hours later as i try to understand the totally unbelievable nonsense that is this subject I am also filled with some kind of feeling, can't name it yet, but I want to know how many hours of research went into this? Because,
A.) i feel it's not nearly enough B.) As a human i am deeply concerned for the researchers C.) I want to know what was in their coffee?
I feel this in every topic of science i have ever studied, that it somehow borders on art. Science is just forced art. And i don't think you can force art. It's not like your morning shit. Coffee can't fix this. But we can try. But i think that's how it's always been. Like in that famous movie, everybody wants an English teacher who teaches their children to read and write and speak English and know all the good and famous poems. But nobody wants an English teacher who teaches their children to become poets and writers and dreamers and seekers. Seize the day? I have already wasted it and am waiting eagerly to seize and waste the next day. What a load of bullshit. I had good English teachers. They were nothing special but they were nice. Art is never forced. Art can never be forced. But if we are not forced to make art, we will never make art. I type this as a bunch of dried paint and brushes sit in the corner of my desk with an empty canvas on which i can almost imagine what i am going to paint, "I want to paint something for my sister!! And mumma!!! And Sanya!! And ayanti!!! And zeuge!! And sonchiraiya!!", I remember screaming excitedly to my girlfriend, i miss her so much. I can not tell you in words how much but i am going to put 20 exclamation marks just so you know it's real imissher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , I didn't count but i hope that's twenty. I think i went on a tangent over here. You don't even know how many times that happens, like i said, everybody only seems to want to read short stories now, did i say that? I am sure I've said that sometime in my life. Another tangent. At this point i am tired of deleting all the times i go on a tangent, part of the problem why I can't write long stories, the longer they go the more tangents i go in and by the end its incomprehensible to even begin. But its nice since, everybody only seems to want to read short stories now. Anyways the point is, life is an impressionist painting of roses in a crystal vase by Renoir. The background may seem blue and lonely, with clouds present. But it's the red of love and excitement and yearning and belonging that makes it beautiful. I love amd miss my girlfriend very much and i love science and i love art.
Now go, waste another day my friend.

SDCC 2024: Mikey Way Rings in Holidays All Year Long with Christmas 365 (Interview)
By Justin Epps - Published Sep 7, 2024
Tumblr media
Dark Horse Comics
☰ SUMMARY
• Christmas 365 from Dark Horse Comics releases this year, a festive series about a family celebrating Christmas all year round.  • Co-writer Mikey Way talks about the nostalgia and magic of Christmas, and the importance of family in his work.  • Way collaborates with Jonathan Rivera and Piotr Kowalski to craft a dream project embracing the 80s/90s Christmas movie feel.
Full interview under the cut:
Christmas has come early for Dark Horse Comics readers. During this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the publisher revealed it would be releasing Christmas 365 later this year. This festive new series comes from the creative team of Mikey Way, Jonathan Rivera, Piotr Kowalski, Brad Simpson, and Joshua Reed.
Christmas 365 tells the story of a family who has gone through a particularly challenging year and their attempts to come back together through a Christmas season that lasts the whole year round. Screen Rant caught up with Christmas 365 co-writer Mikey Way and dug into his thoughts behind this unique holiday story.
Tumblr media
Screen Rant: From the premise I'm guessing you're a big fan of Christmas. But why Christmas 365?
Mikey Way: As a child of the 80s, a lot of my favorite movies were Christmas movies. I think the holiday stuck with me, the the mythology of it, the imagery really resonated with me. I know I'm not alone on this, the world is obsessed with Christmas. You go in stores and the Christmas stuffs out in August. It was after 9/11 I noticed Christmas started earlier at the store. I remember taking a mental note of that. People needed it at that time. I feel like with social media people have been able to express their love of Christmas and find like-minded people that are like-minded. There's Christmas podcasts, there's Christmas basements.
Mikey Way: Anyway, child of the 80s. Christmas Story, Scrooged, Christmas Vacation, Gremlins, Die Hard, Santa Claus: The Movie, all those great Jim Henson movies. These were important stories to me. And so I've always had that itch in me to tell a Christmas story. And I think it was around 2013 I watched a bunch of Christmas movies in a row and it wasn't Christmas time, it was summertime, I think. I remember watching Home Alone and Christmas Vacation and being like "What stories are left to tell?". Then it hit me like a bolt. "What about a family that're kind of disconnected and one of them gets the the wild idea to celebrate it all year long?". Like that's gonna fix everything.
With Christmas, there's this effort to see the world through the eyes of a child and recapture that feeling of wonderment. Is that what you wanted from your story?
Mikey Way: It's the one month out of the year where you can forget about life's pressures a little bit. And there's wonder and magic and hope and promise. Especially when you have children. It's the Super Bowl. For a child things revolve around "Christmas is coming!". So getting to see it through my two girls' eyes...that's what it's all about. There's so many layers to it. It's a layered holiday. But it's just something that's so great. In a world full of gloom and doom, it's something that's just awesome and great. Like there's a velvet cloud around you in December. Even November.
Mikey Way: There's there's a lot of bad stuff that happens in the world. People get busy, people get stressed, people have responsibilities. And it's the time where you can celebrate being a family, celebrate the people you love, and you could show them how much you love them.
You're co writing this with Jonathan Rivera. Both of you guys did books for DC Young Animal which was definitely a more experimental line, but you guys are trying to tell a more grounded story here, correct?
Mikey Way: We're very like-minded. He went to art school with my brother. We all like the same stuff. Trainspotting, Britpop, Stone Temple Pilots, The Crow, action figures, X-Men, anime. Jon was a kindred spirit. He's one of my best friends in the world. He's someone I wanted to write a story with. This was the perfect opportunity because he feels the same way about this 80s/90s Christmas story. He's got the same itch to scratch.
Tumblr media
Your previous book, Collapser, had a real strong family theme to it, which seems carry on in Christmas 365. What is it about family that speaks to you so strongly in your work?
Mikey Way: Family's everything. As you get older you start to realize that. And it plays into the holiday of Christmas. When it comes down to the family's all you got. You can have an important job. You can have all the material possessions in the world. You could have fancy this and that. But when it comes down to it, who's sitting at the dinner table with you? Those are who's important and the people that pick you up when you're needing it. They're there for you, you're there for them. So the family unit has always been something extremely important to me. Especially as I get older and have children and extended family. That's really all you got in this world and it's the most beautiful thing there is.
In addition to Rivera, you're also working with Piotr Kowalski. How was it crafting this dream project with him and his art?
Mikey Way: What's interesting about him is he's mostly a horror guy, really. When we got his artwork, most of the demonstration pages and pieces were horror and then I went on his Instagram recently and it's all horror and I'm like "It kind of works, because this is supposed to be an 80s/90s Christmas movie.". If you watch these movies, they're all dark and they always tried to sneak a horror element into it. In Home Alone there was the scary boiler.
Tumblr media
For me, it was A Christmas Story when Ralphie goes on the slide and the Santa just boots him down.
Mikey Way: There's always a moment of playful scariness in those movies. So I think it fit the tone, because you want it to look a little VHS. I feel like he was able to tell it exactly. Like if we closed our eyes and we were envisioning Christmas 365 as a movie, that's what it would look like. Me and Jon saw his art and were like "This is the guy.".
You previously spoke about the influence of suburban genre movies like The Burbs and Better Off Dead. How did these movies inform your Christmas story?
Mikey Way: So the story goes me and my brother watched Better Off Dead probably a couple of times a week for years. That and One Crazy Summer, those those two movies for me and my brother were very important. There was this Gonzo stuff in it. It was a slightly grounded, suburban comedy that had all these kind of wacky, fantastical ideas in it. All those movies had a sport. Better Off Dead was skiing.
Tumblr media
Oh, like Heathers and croquet?
Mikey Way: Team Wolf had basketball. They all had a sport. Also there's a weird claymation dream sequence, remember? There was all this weird stuff, but there's something about that movie that struck a chord with me and my brother and we watched it literally once or twice a week for decades. But yes, Savage Steve Holland was a big influence on me and Jon Rivera.
Christmas 365 #1 is available on December 4th from Dark Horse Comics.

hi! popping in quickly.
I absolutely adore your artstyle and your ocs. their personalities and stories are always so interesting, and I look forward to seeing any type of art you post.
If you take a break from drawing asurei, that's completely okay!! doing things with joy is more important than just doing them. I will enjoy whatever you draw regardless— in fact, I regularly go back to that drawing of the unnamed pink haired girlfailure OC and her "friend" daily. i am mayhaps their number one fan.
please continue sharing your stories and ideas!! I adore your characters and designs so much. I am very excited for your toxic yuri freeloader/assassin story.. they are very interesting!!
also saw you did some dialogue in japanese.. do you speak it ? im quite interested in any language so.. apologies if this is off topic ><!
In any case, thank you for continuing to create. I love your art and hope you continue to draw what makes you happy and what you feel motivated to do. I love all your art regardless of subject matter!! in fact it convinced me to to start watching madoka magica :}
best wishes !! hope you're well!!
wahhh isopod !! u always send me the nicest asks when i need them most!! i hope ur doing well ~ although my last post sounded pretty depressing im actually doing pretty well too! im going to the aquarium next week w some friends so im looking forward to that more than anything >:D
I've been reading a lot of short yuri stories by Toyo Totan & Iwami Kiyoko lately and I'm excited to use that inspiration to improve some of my own OC stuff too! (I recommend 'Last Summer Vacation' !)
And yes I'm fluent in Japanese !! I'm actually an officer in my college's JP language community & I used to translate manga on the side !! I'm completely self-taught through videos though, so while my listening and speaking are fluent I actually suck at reading LOL I'm so bad that when I translated manga I'd use my camera's text to speech to do everything...
I'm a huge language nerd too! I watch a bunch of scientific videos/TED-Talks on how our brain learns languages and tips to learn things more efficiently! For example, apparently when you first start learning a language you should never try to speak it right off! If you try speaking before listening for a very long time, your brain just kinda solidifies your verbal pronunciation and it can have long-term effects on not only how you sound, but also how you HEAR sounds! This is also why some think that children learn languages better, because they spend a long time exposed to it while being non-verbal. I love this fact bc I kinda experienced it myself!
I spent about 2 years just watching JP translated videos of people speaking naturally (not videos aimed at foreigners, nor shows that have acting, more like vlog-type stuff!) and only started speaking when exposed to others who could speak it too ! Especially during COVID, I think I was pretty much spending ~80% of my day listening and thinking in Japanese so I was very immersed! And because of that, I'm a little famous in my community for having the best pronunciation 😤 Going to on a trip to Japan & translating for the people who went with me also boosted my confidence a lot! I'll never forget this guy at an izakaya who asked how many years I've been living in Osaka LOL ("three days actually!")
I think the biggest downside though is that once u learn another language, ur first language skills get bad.. i often think up half-sentences and sayings/metaphors in Jap that just sound wrong when you try to translate it back into Eng ;;; i sometimes trail off when i speaking because i forget the english word for certain things, but my friends are now just used to my weird metaphors so!
I went on such a long tangent!! But anyways!! Thank u for always sending me the sweetest asks, I always save them to my phone and I'm pretty sure all my friends know abt u bc I always show them the nice things u say 😭!! And yes!!! Madoka is so good, especially the movie so im excited ur gonna watch it!! I hope u like it!
and finally for their #1 fan <3 :

Ok ok, let's get back on track. Work was draining these past weeks, but I'm on vacation now, so time to catch up! June was the month of the library books. I put a bunch on hold in April and May and they all came in at the same time. And after up to 10 weeks of waiting I was not about to push a single one back further, so I had to work a bit there. 8D Also, according to my list I've read 51 books in the first 6 months of the year. I seem to remember wanting to read less this year? Yeah. Not going well.
Gwen & Art are Not in Love (Lex Croucher): I read it in the very first days of June, which was basically an eternity ago, so my memory is a bit wonky. I do remember I had lots of fun! It was funny and sweet with a solid story and serious times when needed, nice characters, good adventure. The female lead did not get on my nerves! There was a cat! And a girl with a (legendary) sword! I think, though, it's a bit unfair that both boys ended up with permanent bodily harm while the girls got away scratchfree … Go read it!!
Thief in the Night (KJ Charles): I didn't know anything about this other than the summary when I put it on my waitlist in the library. After 10 weeks it finally came in and my first thought was "Is it broken?!" because it's only about 100 pages! It is a full story, mind you, I was just so suprised by it (and because I waited for so long!). It's a companion story to The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting, featuring the brother of the protagonists of that one. It's pretty cute. Super short, but just the right length for a simple story. We can have a simple story once in a while. I had a good time reading this.
The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting (KJ Charles): I borrowed this right after Thief in the Night. This is a full-length novel, so it has a lot more time to dive into characters and intricacies. It's nice. Like not groundbreaking, but very enjoyable. There's this thing about (pseudo-historic) British aristocracy that just calls for mocking them. I liked a lot how the climax and ending played out!
Flowerheart (Catherine Bakewell): Now this was another difficult book for me. I thought with time I'd get a little more chill with YA fantasy heroines. Seems I'm not there yet. The heroine here has these whiny self-pitying phases that really annoyed me. She's like "Oh maybe he never liked me in the first place" just because the guy didn't want her help at one thing. But: 1) He was her very close childhood friend, that was not a lie. 2) She has like one day of training in and can't control her magic, so her help would be … probably no help at all. And 3) when he told her before that he needs her on the weekends she said no, she can't … So why is she getting upset?! I hate characters like this. /D But thankfully, this is only half of the time, the other half she's pretty ok (the guy as well) and I actually found myself liking the book. The romance is acceptable and it does have some nice imagery going on with all the flower magic and stuff.
Sounds Fake But Okay (Sarah Costello & Kayla Kaszyca): My one non-fiction book of the year. :D It's about seeing the world from the perspectives of a_spec people. Like taking apart all that amatonormativity and all these ideas about romance and family and stuff that most of our world sees as right and normal. So it's not just a "let me tell you what aromanticism and asexuality are"-book but dives a bit deeper. I found it insightful. I think, both a_spec and allo people can take something away from reading this. Challenging our social constructs in thought at least can't hurt after all. Regarding the ebook library edition I read I didn't quite like the layout as the incorporated community quotes where not well marked and I stumbled over them a few times before realising it's another quote. That's probably no issue in the paper version though. I also struggled to tell the authors Sarah and Kayla apart. They introduce themselves and their stories in the beginning but I immediately jumbled them up ...
Captive Prince Trilogy (C.S. Pacat): I borrowed the English edition from the library … and didn't want to return it! Which is stupid because I own the German version in paper. But that kinda sums up how I feel about these books. Captive Prince was not the very first gay fantasy book I read almost two years ago but the first one I liked. (The actual first was Rowan & Ash by Christian Händel which had a terribly selfish love interest and shied away from all the important conflict. (And yeah, long before that I did read The Raven Cycle but I picked that one up for the Ley lines and the no-kiss-promise. The gay was just a pleasant surprise, so I don't count it.)) Which is funny, because especially the beginning is so filthy! I remember being quite put off by this the first time around, but apparently it was intriguing enough to continue reading. I like the incredible slow-burn of Damen's and Laurent's relationship. The slow building of trust in a surrounding where trust is so rare. How shit happens between them and they have to sort it out on page before progressing. How you only catch glimpes of Laurent's true self for a long time. I like it when authors feel smart through their writing and writing Laurent's and the Regent's intrigues and all the different settings with war strategies etc. sure does feel smart to me. I like the slow-burn in stories as well when things start at some point and only get important much later and all weaves together beautifully. It's so rewarding. Look, where we started - look, how far we've come! Hah. u3u
Riley Weaver Needs a Date for the Gaybutante Society (Jason June): For the end of the month I went for something light and funny. Of all the authors I read last year F.T. Lukens and Jason June stuck with me the most. Lukens for the cozy charming fantasy and June for the slightly silly noisy onea. Riley Weaver is no exception to that. It does have a serious undertone and message, though, but due to the framework of the story it manages to never feel dull or preachy.
I also tried to read Dragonfall by L.R. Lam, but gave up after just 50 pages. I can't even say if it's good or bad, because I don't know. I couldn't stand the viewpoints. Like, there's three people. The first one is a 1st person narrator, who refers to the second person as You, but in the narration, not dialogue! That put me off so much. It was so … icky! The second person narrates 1st person as well. If there's another "you" I don't know because I didn't make it to the point where they meet for real. And then the third person comes along and … it's 3rd person?! And I screamed! God, I hate that. I mean, it can work and I have read books that I like with inconsistent viewpoints but there was nothing here for which I was willing to endure. To be fair, I don't like dragons in the first place, so maybe we never were a good match from the start. :'D
That's it for June!

Meet Me In Amsterdam | h.hj
...pairing...hyunjin x reader
...w.c...1.9k
...genre...fluff, romance
...warnings...none
...characters...Y/N, Hyunjin, mention of Felix, OC(roommate)
...synopsis...studying abroad has pulled so many people in and out of your life, but there’s one that you want to never leave.
...a/n...Okay, so I think this is going to become a series...might name it The Playlist(?) but idk, we shall see. BUT, this song is very Hyunjin vibes with the hopeless romantic/last love he's spoken about before (me too, bro). But I really hope I can get this one to mirror what's in my brain lol.
As someone with a personality that suited everything from traveling, art, fashion, the simple things in life-you were determined to do all of the above. And boy did you.
You met Hyunjin two and a half years ago while you were studying abroad in Amsterdam. The chance meeting was definitely an awkward one, that's for sure. Your flatmate had a project for one of her classes due the next day and she hadn't even started it. She needed to paint "simple beauty" and chose you as her subject. Your body was stiff and aching from sitting on the bench you were propped on and you were getting a headache from the sun that was finally making a proper appearance. There weren't too many people around, but the ones who passed certainly were staring, and at this point you were uncomfortable. You weren't sure how many times your expensive ass camera nearly slipped off your shoulder.
Threats were occasionally making their way out of your mouth, making it known that if anything happened to the camera you spent years saving up for, your roommate was going to replace it. And she vowed to do so. The sun soon cast golden rays across the scenery in from of you, the river below you glistening almost like a wheat field during the lunch hour.
I think this has been the only enjoyable part of this whole ordeal. You thought to yourself. Your thoughts were interrupted by a man close to your age pointing to the seat next to you, "I'm sorry, is this seat taken?"
He was certainly beautiful, there was no way you were denying that. But, instead of replying you smiled and shook your head. A little too shy around the stranger. He sat and braced his slender arms on the front edge of the bench, "Sorry, but the other benches seemed occupied."
You glanced to the nearest ones and he was not wrong...to a certain extent. The two benches to your right had an elderly couple on one and what seemed to be someone either too drunk to function or someone sleeping on the other. Every bench to the left of you two was overcrowded with birds and frankly, a bunch of bird poop. There was no way you were going to condemn him to any of the options above. The two of you made conversation and you learned he was here on vacation with his best friend, who was still asleep and he was kind enough to try to find the nearest cafe for their breakfast. You had agreed that once your roommate was finished, you would take him to your favorite place. Which, should be soon.
_Present Date_
"Jinnie, if you don't hurry we will be late for the flight." You voiced to your boyfriend. He made all the plans for your birthday weekend and you were only allowed to know two things: what to pack, and the date and time your flight took off.
Everything else was all him.
He all but stumbles out of the bedroom, his ballcap disheveled and he was hopping around trying to put his socks on while he made his way to the living room. You warmly smiled at his flustered state, "You know, for a guy you take longer than me to get ready..."
He settles on the small bench the two of you put by the front door to slip his shoes on and he scrunched his nose and put on a boxy smile, trying to hide his stress of nearly being late.
*cough, cough* (he is always early to events)
"Lovely, you didn't even put makeup on and you woke up earlier than I did, so I have an excuse or two." he chuckles at his 'mastermind' explanation and grabs both suitcases you both had packed and ready by the front door.
In the hallway now surrounding the two of you, you quietly said, "Yes, but I didn't get out of bed until after you did, Baby."
You checked to make sure your apartment door was closed and locked securely before the pair of you made your way to the elevator. Only, you were stopped by bright yellow caution tape and an 'out of order' sign. Sharing a look of sass and slight irritation from the inconvenience, you followed him to the edge of the staircase. You took your suitcase from his hands and you made your way down the steps....eight floors to go...
---------
Luckily enough, Hyunjin told you the wrong time and you arrived fifteen minutes earlier. Boarding the plane was no issue, still not having any idea where you were headed-thanks to Hyunjin putting earbuds in your ears and you swore to him that you were not going to look at the destination. The amount of trust you two put into one another was on another level. You trusted him to take you on a romantic getaway and not murder you. And the trust he put in you to...not look at the signs. Yeah, those levels of trust were right up there next to one another.
You fell asleep not long after take-off and didn't wake until you felt Hyunjin shaking you, letting you know that people were getting ready to get off.
Your eyes followed the slow, but sure, line that was making its way off the plane, you and Hyunjin following once it was your turn. Going through the usual process of finding your luggage- you soon realized where you were. Why the airport looked a tad bit familiar.
Amsterdam.
He took you back to Amsterdam...the city where you two first met. You looked up at his slender figure, slightly tearing up. He knew how much you longed to go back. Your roommate decided it was a city she just couldn't get enough of the area and moved in with a permanent residence. The two of you kept in frequent touch, but with the time difference between Seoul and Amsterdam...it could prove to be difficult.
He didn't stop walking until you grasped his wrist to turn and embrace him. His large hands found their places on the back of your head and your waist, pulling you as close as possible, "Happy Birthday Weekend, Y/N, I hope I can give you what you deserve."
"Jinnie, you've already done enough, any more and it might be a little too much." You laugh lightly, causing a small side smile to appear on his gorgeous face.
--------
He had the idea of stopping by the hotel and washing up before doing any other activities he planned. Obviously, you needed to freshen up and apply just a little bit of makeup. After about an hour, you were back in the streets you spent almost three years in.
He brought you up the an extremely familiar corner cafe and the two of you sat and just talked. You spoke about the many memories you had in the year you two dated long-distance before moving back to Seoul once you graduated. You came to the conclusion that if the two of you could conquer a year with the time difference you two had, you could conquer practically anything as long as you had one another.
'You're my first and last' he once said and you simply echoed that phrase back to him. And you meant it. You never wanted anyone other than him, you lived and breathed him. You were never one to be sappy or much of a romantic, but he unlocked that entire side of you. Yes, you wanted to experience the art, love, romance, and all the little things in the world...but you didn't need it, you didn't crave it the way you do now. You wanted him in the most innocent way possible, and he was more than willing to give you that part of him, and more of course. He was going to be your last and you truly hoped he knew and comprehended that.
Once the two of you left the cafe, you followed the path to the river and right to the bench where you met. Your lips lifted in a nostalgic smile, missing the day you two met- but so proud and happy where you were now. He pulled you down to sit, but his hips never met the bench. Instead, his knee touched the ground as he still held your hand. Soon, he began speaking before you knew what exactly was happening.
Your heart began accelerating in understanding as to what was happening right now and you clasped your hand over your mouth," Y/N, I have never met someone so perfect for me until I met you right here. Although the circumstances at the time were anything but traditional or romantic, I think the last two years have proven to be everything that one day should've been. There is no other person I could ever spend the rest of my life with. No one I could ever ask to be my last unless it was you. You are everything I could ever hope or pray for and I hope you will have me. Y/N will you do me the very special honor of having your hand in marriage?"
Of course, you had to let him finish his speech before replying with a watery, "Yes. You are my last."
He let a small sigh of relief slip before embracing you in a kiss so tender and so sweet it took the breath out of your lungs. Pulling away only once you heard cheering not too far to the right of you and you see your ex-roommate holding a camera and a large gift bag. You gasped and ran to her, pulling her into a hug. "It's been so long! How did you know we were here? I didn't even know!"
She pulled away with a sure smirk and looked just over your shoulder and to your now fiance," He found me on Instagram and set it all up, he's been planning this for a few months now."
You blush slightly at the statement as she lightly shoves the gift bag to you, "As an early engagement gift, the first of many because this ship is gonna forever sail."
You open it slowly and pull out a large canvas to see what she had once worked so hard on. On the canvas was painted the scenery around you and you and Hyunjin sitting close enough to where your shoulders touch. She added him into the painting...the painting she was assigned well over a year ago and she still had it. Tears gloss over your eyes, but you refuse to let them fall as you whisper her name, "I can't accept this. You worked so hard on it, hell I don't even know what grade you got on it. Did you ever turn it in?!"
She stops you before you have a chance to take a breath and continue, "Y/N I knew the moment this dork sat down that you two were going to get married eventually just asked for the piece once she was done with the grading. She actually told me my piece was one of the only ones to follow the instructions properly and the only one to get an 'A'. It's a gift for you two, it would be more insulting for you to give it back."
She hugs you once more and kisses your temple before letting the two of you go with a 'congrats, newly engaged couple.'
Maybe meeting him in Amsterdam was one of the best things to ever happen to you. But one thing's for sure...
He would always be by your side and you would always be by his.

Soooo uhhhh, I'm about to go on vacation in two days. Don't worry, I'll still be doing the room analysis posts, and I will still probably post an AF attack or two, I'm mostly just bringing it up cus.... nostalgia. (Yes, I'm about to reminisce on my times in the RW community - I've been trying to keep these kinds of rambly posts to a minimum, but this felt like a pretty good time to go off about this)
Because the first time I discovered Rain World was two years ago, when I was also about to go on vacation very soon, and Htwo's video about the AI of the game caught my eye.
I was like "Wait, really? This looks like one of those old retro games, how the hell can it have a more complex AI, than some of the newer big games that are doing real fancy things with them?", so I just had to investigate, and something about the visuals, and the creatures, and the things described in the video.... it really mesmerized me, and I just had to learn more.
Which I did during vacation, checking out some spoiler free reviews and recommendation videos (as well as official stuff, including the DP scug previews, which sounded real interesting, even from a newcomer's perspective), as well as tons of fanart.
Of course, I did spoil myself a bunch in the process, but it all completely lacked context, so it didn't really mean much. I especially liked a guy called something along the lines of 'FlameFlower' (I'm sort of blanking on it, sry), as they had a real neat art style, and a lot of their comic pages were made traditionally, which impressed me a lot. It was nice and sweet and cute, and I liked the humanoid robot villain who I assumed to be the artist's personal interpretation of what the higher intelligence in this world might be like (yeah, I assumed the concept of an iterator was exclusive to that comic which is real silly, but still xd).
Anyways, I was eager to try out this difficult game filled with weird creatures, where you'll need to be patient and clever, but also skilled and quick witted, which I immediately did, after I traveled home.
I also quickly joined the Discord server, mostly just to view more art, but to my delight, there were a bunch of channels specifically for newbies on their first playthroughs, where I hung out a bunch.
Afterwards, I've mostly just been playing for the next couple months, having a blast while also struggling a little here and there, especially when I got to try Hunter.
I wasn't really doing anything with the community, outside of maybe chiming into a discussion or two. I had ideas, but I sorta lacked motivation. Sharing stuff in Discord gallery chats is not overly fun, as there's rarely any interaction (outside of a few random reacts - a lot of which comes from people that press reacts on literally everything), and the way Discord works makes it very difficult not to start comparing yourself to the other stuff you see, and it really demotivated me, especially cus my skills were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse back then (which is fair, I barely did art before my RW days, but still, good lord do I hate my older stuff xd).
I also just didn't particularly enjoy the vibes of the server too much. Lurking around the chats and looking at the things other people were doing was fun, but I never felt like it would be worth it to try and be a part of that.
Then you know, the new year rolled around, Downpour came out, the game got traction, and everything was getting crazy.
I was still mostly inactive, until my very first art month came up, and I had some fun with it (my skills still being absolutely horrendous, but at least I still had fun :3).
But then something caught my eye - a certain artist doing 'bombs', drawings where the Slugcat designs of many different artists were present. Yeap - I'm talkin' about Pansear!
I was digging around, and I found out that you can get featured by sending a DM, so I gathered the courage to send over a Saint, which was honestly extremely nerve-wracking. Yet the conversation was really pleasant. She actually complimented my design, which felt incredible, and was extremely appreciative of me congratulating her for getting featured in Akupara's Virtual Art Month Museum.
I know that this might sound like a basic everyday thing for most, but for a person with my levels of social anxiety? This was an enormous leap, one that I'm very grateful to have made.
Afterwards, things have finally started happening. I noticed that Pan and her buddies made a new server where they started hosting voice acting sessions for all the comics in their Shipping Container server. So I leaped on the chance to join in, the moment the invites were reopened again, since I always enjoyed imitating the voices of characters, and the idea of me doing the characters myself sounded incredible, especially when they're from a game I love so much.
And from that point onward, I stopped chatting in, or even looking at the overpopulated 'Main World' server entirely, and all my interactions with the community came from that small new server.
Then last year's vacation arrived, where.... nothing really happened, tbh. I was forced to miss out on the Helm fandub, but I had some fun doing colorless Artificer and Rivulet (aka, the first art pieces I ever posted onto Tumblr) on the beach.
But a few days after I returned, I noticed that North was actually starting a new video series, where she would animate Inv's dating sim, and she was looking for VAs on Tumblr, so I grabbed the opportunity, and made an account, so I could upload my auditions.
Yup, the Thanks Andrew dating sim is the reason why this account exists.
Neat, ain't it?
And initially, I didn't really know what to do with this thing, so I was just reblogging, and uploading art, as well as voiceovers, until...
The shipping polls arrived. And thus, my series of daily poll ramblings have begun. Ramblings that have been happening for almost a year now.
And then... I just sort of, kept doing the things I was doing, y'know. I finally got my wish, to be a part of a community I adore, even if just a minor one.
The vacations weirdly represent huge moments for me, as I found out and fell in love with the game during one, while my Tumblr was created immediately after the one that followed.
It's weird to look back on these last two years, and just how much has changed. Despite the downers that the community has had as of late, this was still a really pleasant journey, getting to have fun with others, and make them happy, while they also make me happy in return.
And I suppose this year's vacation can sort of represent my Artfight being created? That was also a pretty enjoyable experience, though it doesn't quite carry the same weight.
I dunno, not every year needs to be a special one. Though the last two have undoubtedly been that way! :D

random OC ask: if your OC inexplicably had access to real-world media, what character would be their favorite? what character would they unreasoningly despise? why?
Alright, I'm gonna speed round their favorites, then I'll come back in another post with the ones they loathe.
Also hello, sorry I took forever to respond, I have been on vacation and also got a pretty ring from my new fiancee (I have been saying that word too much lol)
My OCs Favorite Fictional Characters!
Wyndolyn
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wyn would adore Zarya from Overwatch. She would see the badass buff babe who talks about hugging like Siberian bear and want to be just like her. (This is absolutely not based on real life experience.)
Helena
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mizu from Blue Eye Samurai. Helena would think that she's sooo cool and complex, finding comfort in someone who isolates themselves still managing to find connections in the world. She would also buy a sword and cosplay as her.
Dahlia
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aang from ATLA. She'd love Aang's goofy, playful nature and his whole character arc, from a kid running from his duties to a powerful bender that finds a way to maintain his beliefs, no matter the obstacle.
Dahlia would love the Avatar series, and since she grew up so sheltered, she'd have no idea that it's actually a super popular show that there's a huge community for. She'd definitely bring it up in conversation thinking that she's introducing something cool and new to people, then quickly learn how many people have loved the show for years and be pleasantly surprised that she can just gush with people.
Vero
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vero would be a big fan of musicals and classic films. She strikes me as someone that would resonate and admire Veronica from Heathers a lot, and when she learns about the musical version of Heathers? Forget about it. She's learning all of Veronica's parts in a day.
Sahed
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sahed is definitely a DnD and LotR nerd that has the lore memorized from both franchises. He has all the books and a bunch of art, posters, and figurines of his favorite character Smaug that would clutter up his room. Smaug would also inspire him to become a scaley, just sayin.
Sahed would also love the Fire Emblem series, and his favorite character would probably be someone like Tharja (practices curses on her own daughter) or Arvis (the main antagonist in FE4 who wipes out a whole army with one meteor shower).
Velora
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Velora is a cozy gamer for sure. She'd love building her island to perfection in Animal Crossing and marrying every townie in Stardew Valley. Though she'd optimize her gameplay and romance everyone in town, her favorite character in Stardew that she would always come back to would be Shane. She likes being able to help him and earning his affection, since it always seems really genuine during his supports.
Gardon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gardon would love a conflicted father archetype like Joel from The Last of Us. He would gravitate towards flawed characters who find some redemption in the world, and Joel is the epitome of that.
Lin'rai
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lin would love Marceline from Adventure Time and ship Bubbline so hard. Her dream girl is very similar to PB, and she sees a lot of herself in Marcy. She'd also be a Steven Universe fan who relates a lot to Pearl and simps over Rose Quartz, even though she knows how problematic Rose is. Mystery Girl from the episode "Last One Out of Beach City" would also be high on her crush list.
---
Okay, this took way more thought than I anticipated, but this all tracks pretty well.
My partner saw Vero being into Heathers and went, "really??" He didn't think Vero would be a Veronica/Heathers person, but when I asked what he thought she'd like, he was like, "I don't know, I just didn't get Veronica vibes."
Useless. I can't wait to marry this dingus.
