I’ve just been imagining this blurb all day and now i see your doing a blurb night i just had to send it in! Maybe Lorenzo and his gf (I’m really sorry i can’t remember her name😅) trying to convince charles that you and him need a baby after babysitting Celine ( i think i spelt her name wrong) and then Pascale keeps giving charles the look and giving him little comments on how she needs another grandchild at every family event

"She was the loveliest little one, barely cried and didn't fuss too much, she's so sweet", you cooed in reply to Pascale's question about how the week where you looked after Céline, Charlotte's and Lorenzo's daughter.

"We thought it would be trickier to juggle, but it was fine really, she ended up sleeping in our bed in one of the nights because she wanted to cuddle Y/N, her little fist was bunching up her sleeping shirt", Charles nodded to you before he brought food to his mouth.

"Yes, I was just there, back against the headboard for the whole night while she cuddled up to me", you blushed, not wanting to truly admit how that might have been the moment a switch turned in you and made you start thinking about building your own family more seriously. If the way Charles cared for her and for you was a tell take of what was to come when the right time came, you knew you would be fine.

"Well, what's stopping you from having that every night?", your mother in-law winked at you.

"I saw these little sets on the shop and I had to get them", Pascale said as she took a crochet cardigan from a paper bag, "the lady that worked there said it would be cheaper of I had gotten two sets instead of just one, but then I had to tell her I only have one grandchild", she looked at Charles as he felt the soft fabric before carefully helping Lorenzo put it on his daughter, ignoring his mother's intense look.

When you were having lunch, Céline seemed to be bothered at the table, wanting to capture your attention since she had eaten a while ago, "I'll go with her, I'm done with my food", you excused yourself from the table to go and play with her.

"Do you know how this wouldn't happen? If Céline had a little cousin to play with", Pascale looked over to Charles, "then she would be fine at the table and they would both play here", she stated.

"Mama!", Charles chuckled at her bluntness.

"I am not telling any lies, am I?", she turned to Arthur who agreed with her, "it's not a bad thing to want another little one to be brought to our family, we gave plenty of love to give them!".

You could feel a strong sneeze coming up but you didn't want to scare him away so you ended up having to hold your breath so you wouldnt sneeze

You held it in for such a long time that even Selina wondered how you were still alive

But you couldn't hold it in for too long so you ended up sneezing anyways lmao

Okay so I don't have much knowledge on 616 gwen Stacy and I've only read a few issues of the spider gwen run... but I can speak on the itsv/astv gwen Stacy.

And even though I'm kinda neutral on her character (it takes a lot to get me interested into a yt woman character nowadays)

I do like how the atsv writers are avoiding making the whole "death of gwen stacy" thing a huge plot point.

Like I'm aware that there are like references to that infamous moment in the films. There's her falling dramatically in the first film at the collider fight and in the 2nd film when they're in mumbahattan. There's the line she tells miles about how "spiderman and gwen stacy don't end well in other universes". In the 2nd film there's a small scene where a bunch of au peter parkers say "hi" to her and she says "hi" back.

But other than that it's not really mentioned and brought up as much and gwen is allowed to feel like her own character outside of that moment. And I like that bc if they did make it a major plot point it would feel awkward and remind the audience of the fridging and take away what makes her so interesting.

Bc I remember seeing a comic panel and it was spider-gwen and 616 peter parker and she was like "I wasn't able to save peter" and peter was like "I wasn't able to save my gwen" and then they agreed to like protect each other from now own.

And I know that it's supposed to sound sweet and whatever but it just reads as awkward to me bc if I remember correctly spider gwen in the comics is like 19 and peter is like late 20s/early 30s. And on one hand I do get that grief is a powerful thing and he did love his gwen stacy but like... he should have moved on at this point. And it doesn't help that like spider gwen is the same age as 616 gwen when she died (I think?).

Like idk its so weird. And I remember when itsv came out and the scene of peter b seeing rip Peter's mj at the party and him just blabbing on and gwen is like "I've been there buddy you gotta move on" about her seeing another peter after hers died.

And ppl online were saying "oh well why doesn't peter mention the fact that he's seeing an au version of his gwen that died?"

And it annoyed me and reminded me of that comic panel again except this time it's worse bc itsv peter is like 40 and itsv gwen is like 15.... like y'all don't think it would be weird for a grown ass man to tell a teenage girl that she reminds him of his dead gf??

Anyways this just turned into me rambling and sorry if it doesn't make any sense but yeah tldr: atsv bringing up the death of gwen stacy is a good thing and would be weird and I wish the fanboys would stop wanting it to be talked about every 10 seconds.

i feel like camila and lilith's Dynamic(tm) would only serve to make things worse were cam to introduce lilith to her mom tbh. like YES ur kid is no longer a nun. YES she blew up the vatican. YES she's gay. YES the person she's dating has a bunch of tattoos. YES they are partially demon. YES tattooed demon (also) ex-nun is really tall and honestly quite scary. YES ur tiny daughter who u raised catholic (which has certain implications abt the expectations for future relationships, or at least did for me) is almost 100% in charge. also i think lilith is probably at least ok at etiquette shit when she's not being horrifically rude (i think u already understand my basis for this one) and also that she'd probably want to make at least an ok impression on cam's mum so. Isobel prides herself on being an understanding woman. She really is. But this.

Well it’s a lot to take in at once.

Firstly of all, Camila, her dear sweet Camila, is back. This one is unsurprising, Camila hadn’t been back since the day she left. But Isobel knew she’d always come home eventually, even after she started on in that secret convent that none of them were supposed to know about. (The events at the Vatican, while unbelievable were pretty hard to hide. Nobody else could spot Camila directly, but once Isobel had seen the footage she knew, she just knew, that it was her little girl shooting from afar and, once, right at the smug bastard’s head. Always her fathers daughter, that one.)

The second thing is a bit more surprising. Camila has brought someone back with her. The other woman (not a nun) is nearly too tall to fit through the door of Isobel’s tiny apartment. Lilith is, despite her somewhat frightening appearance, ridiculously polite. Her manners are something straight out of an etiquette manual, and not at all something that matches with the woman’s scarred face or tattooed arms, but appearances can be deceiving. Isobel watches as she pulls out Camila’s chair for her and intertwines their fingers together when they think she’s not watching. The shock of Camila having broken her vows makes slightly more sense now.

That third thing (between Camila and Lilith) is fairly surprising at first but the longer the night goes and the more Isobel sees, the less surprising it gets. There’s the little things, the chair being pulled out, the polite deference, but then Camila’s tugging the other woman around the apartment by her wrist, showing off family photos, and Lilith isn’t complaining in the slightest. She’s smiling slightly, just a little thing, but it lights up her whole face.

She tries to give them privacy but her apartment is small, she can't help but catch the muttered conversation.

"You were such a cute kid." Lilith whispers.

"I bet you were too!" Camila enthusiastically replies. She reaches behind her and almost absentmindedly taps the other woman's cheek. "You can't tell me you've always had this jawline."

"Oh I uh," Lilith looks down, pressing a kiss into the crown of Camila's head when she thinks she's being sneaky, "I don't have many pictures of me as a kid, mother always said they were a waste of time. We have the family portraits but little else."

Isobel resolves to dig out her old camera, something that they can use to make a memory together.

Later, as they're leaving:

“You have a lovely home, ma’am.” Lilith says, kindly offering out her hand as they go to leave.

“Oh don’t ma’am me, I’m not that old.” Isobel goes to draw Lilith in for a hug and for a moment thinks that she’s made a grave mistake, Lilith is taut as a bowstring underneath her hands. But then she relaxes and returns the hug, albeit tentatively, and Isobel has to fight to keep the smile off her face.

“My apologies ma—Isobel.” Lilith says.

Camila takes her attention next, and into their hug Isobel mutters “She’s not too hard on the eyes, is she?”

Camila pulls back with a scandalized grin. “Ma!”

Isobel shrugs. “As long as you’re happy, you’ll find no judgment from me, child.”

“Happier than I’ve ever been.” Camila says softly, eyes darting to the taller woman trying desperately to seem like she’s not listening in.

And in the end, that’s all there is to understand, really.

Just curious to know why people believe that SC girl has admitted feelings to Colby but he rejected? Like I’m new this whole mlp and her being shady and other stuff and I have noticed them both not being as close as before but why have people assumed this or have they seen something? while i'm writing this out, i'm remembering things. so that's how many fucking layers there is to this whole thing lol

so as i've said before, her and colby would always get paired up together on trips. then on the europe trip, fans assumed that they were together. they even congratulated them on coming out as a couple when that didn't happen.

cut to them all coming home from europe, ms snapchat all of sudden was out of the picture. colby was telling ppl on xplrclub that he was gonna be third-wheeling in vegas, and previously on tiktok deleted comments shipping him and her together. colby and her hung out once more before he ended up moving. that night, ms snapchat allegedly shared to her paying insta fans that she was going on date. she tried to make it seem as if it was just her and him, when in reality it was her, him, brennen, his gf, and couple other ppl.

after this, that's when it became apparent that something happened between her and the group.

she was all of sudden out of the picture. it seemed that not only did colby ignore her after the last time they hung out, but kat also ignored her when she was brought up during a livestream. then ms snapchat told fans that she felt abandoned around the same time. once she started posting more publicly, she seemed to be talking about being rejected by someone she had feelings for. she posted a bunch of tiktoks about it and also made a poetry insta account where she talked about her and some other person being close like lovers but being too afraid to love one another.

also forgot to mention, colby was seen out on a date (but highkey i don't even think it actually was one) and she literally tweeted out that same night and then deleted about how "the ppl you think actually care shock you the most" and "it was never real and meant nothing to you" and "lies".

so clearly she was going thru something, and it just made logical sense that it would be about him since seemingly there is no other guy in her life like that. is it possible that it was some other guy? sure, but if it was, you would think she would have said something like "oh no it's not about colby. me and him are just besties." especially since so many ppl assumed it was about him.

i think whatever happened between them has been worked thru, at least somewhat, by this point. i think what happened is that she always had a crush on him, and eventually told him how she felt. he didn't feel the same, and she was upset about that (rightfully so).

my thing is, we obviously don't know the whole situation. we don't know what went on behind closed doors. maybe they did have something going on, and then when she wanted more, he said no. and i get how that would feel. her being upset isn't what bothered me personally. you're allowed to feel bad when someone rejects you, regardless of whether or not you guys have history. my problem is that she made it all very public. and it's hard to side with her when colby has said constantly for months (if not literal years) that he is single. i mean, one time he literally brought a girl with him to hang out with the core four and abbey. like… what about him doing that screams he's into you??? and if that isn't enough, he deleted shipping comments on a tiktok they did together. like… what's not clicking?

also, he's allowed to not want to be with you, even if he "strung you along". why would you want to be with someone that doesn't want you back????

nonetheless, i think whatever tension was there is gone for the most part. i think they both keep their distance from one another, but i still think she still has feelings for him. but i also think that fans see things that aren't really there, or assume that something she does is related to him just bc of past stuff. clearly they are friendly with one another again. but idk if they will ever be as close as they once were.

YESSSS, thank you so much!! im actually gonna use a readmore cuz this is gonna be LONG u can also talk to me abt any of my general headcanons or w/e, ive been a homestuck since like 2011 and lived through homestuck canon rp tumblr + the end of the series so i have Opinions^tm

my s/i for my GHB selfship is actually a troll that i lazily gave my own name (Auriel Soleil, since it fits in with the 6/6) but their title is the Producer! they're running a colony thats focused on stripping planets of their resources and registering trolls for those types of jobs, as well as training subjugs on how to successfully control and maintain order by assigning them managerial jobs over these trolls.

they originally started out as a Barzum/Baizli ancestor, but they only have Baizlis sign and part of their backstory is that prior to Ascension they were a very well trained laughassasin who had twin matesprits/kismesis that were psionic inventors, who were eventually culled due to some unknown circumstance(possibly a dispute over patent rights, they were not told)

the way they met GHB was post-ascension they had a prior mentor who was rather cocky about their abilities as they were chosen as one of the best out of their Ascension group, who brought them to a 'party' that he was also attending. at some point, someone spiked their drink with something that was a very intense stimulant, and apparently the carnage that ensued after made the Highblood so entertained that he basically told their mentor to fuck off and decided to have them work for him.

at some point they were 'gifted' the colony and attained their title, but the actual point where they became involved with him was over time they began talking more outside of mandatory reviews. they struggled very much with accepting any feelings for him, many pillows were bunny kicked in anger and frustration, but eventually he asked them to visit them and, as a mild germaphobe, spent the first day of that visit scrubbing him clean and giving him physical care.

as for my thoughts on GHB, he is a big scary man who enjoys terrorizing people, and is actually quite (morbidly) funny and likes being around people who are also like that. i DON'T think he likes the Empress or any seadwellers whatsoever, though he obviously understands that his place in the hierarchy offers him more benefit than it would if he turned against the empire.

i also think hes much like Kurloz, hes not a loud man unless hes angry or wanting to actually frighten someone and he is actually quite well composed and socially aware, able to read people very well through observation alone. he is very devoted to his religion, far more than his loyalty to the Empire, and is very strict about the rituals and rules that come with it when it comes to his self discipline.

my opinions on Kurloz as a separate entity is 'hot, terrifying, tore his tongue out for hurting his gf and drank respect women juice.' hes also how i got my girlfriend to be open to more clown stuff and now she f/os like a bunch of clowns, so thank u for ur service in making my gf sorta like clowns. you walked so i could wear facepaint without making her shit her pants.

majority of my headcanons when it comes to clown church is that the kids on Alternia fundamentally misunderstand the actual full scope of the religion itself- even those Ascending like Chahut and Marvus will not have experienced the real world of how the church works, much like how children don't understand the corruption of churches irl.

facepaint is sacred and unique. it must be applied a specific way, with specific tools, and to be seen without face paint is a major faux pas to say the least. only the troll themselves and their moirail/trusted quadrantmate should remove their face paint, in private and with a special cloth and removal materials.

culling is not something that you do on the daily, and its meant to be done in a way that either is funny, 'accidental' blind rage, or in a sacrificial manner during festivals or other such congregational meetings.

i do believe that the church, as an entity, is inherently abusive in this way even if its individual members are not. highbloods are given a lot more leniency, but this doesn't mean that the internal workings of the church itself aren't rife with judgement and personal misgivings about how someone behaves or appears.

having 'minor' deformities that wouldn't get you culled by the empire can be seen as bad, such as polydactyly which normally might not get you culled, but you will receive ridicule for it as 'its funny' which is a common thing to do similar to hazing where a newly recruited subjug will be scrutinized and have their nickname become their 'church name' and something they'll be called until they either leave that colony/congregation, or until they do something that makes them 'funnier' than having a rude nickname.

Granted, in fairness (eh... that's generous, nothing about this is fair @ this point), the conversation was mostly about having kids. Or at least is started that way. Sigh.

to answer your first question, the dog went to a nice lady called Val who runs a doggy daycare at her home but allows longterm stays and the dog is apparently very happy.

There's a whole bunch of stuff going on and basically his people a little sick lost some odd looking and strange that's a weird day I tell you it's kind of a strange day for me I'm just going on with the clones and the warlock War and all of a sudden they're talking about Tortuga and I understand it it's kind of closing but it has to be to a degree and will be but he's right about something you got to get the hell out of here. And we saw the rooster contest and it was awesome but APK kicked everyone's ass including us including Husqvarna and Hera designed it, and the motor shakes on purpose she says and certain RPM it stops and his stop shaking when he was flying by everybody but they both have the same bike but her husband had the new one and she helped redesign it it's one of the fastest bikes out there today we saw ATK rolled by it let's go standing still about 10 miles per hour on it the guy said we have someone doing it that he can tweak it more and they said no way he was going like 110 mph and we did a rooster contest usually do a little but no we had a big one ATK 1 1 by 10 ft long it was 85 ft 25 ft high my bike 75 ft long by about 24 ft high is very very close Honda was third I had to get there cuz you beat him the first time I couldn't believe it that thing was throwing dirt they looked at it too to see if we could use it for something not really but okay it was amazing just to put out a small fires people have been seeing doing it and no not once they started he said that it's kind of a past. but why would they spend 3 seasons winding up with mileven?

People REALLY need to pay attention to the shows the Duffers cited as huge inspirations to them. Cheers,dawsons creek, freak &geeks did exactly what the Duffers are doing (and the Duffers said these shows inspired them)

. Cheers for over 5 seasons built up the pairing of sam and Dianne- had them break up in the s5 finale and then in the last 2 eps of the 11th season have them get back together and once again break up explaining for the 100th time they were wrong for each other and brought out the worst in eachother . Cheers would build up multiple pairings (Frasier /Lilith (s4-11/broke up in s11) , sam/Dianne (s 1-11, broke up in s11 permanently) , rebecca /sam (s8-10) Rebecca/robin (s8-9) -these pairings lasted for multiple seasons and they all broke up! They built pairings up for multiple seasons but showed throughout the show why those pairing in cheers could never work out in the long term. The same Thing happened with almost every pairing in Dawson’s creek (they’d build up multiple pairings up -sometimes for multiple seasons- sprinkle in good but also dysfunctional aspects of those relationships- and then break them apart for good ).

Also in Dawson’s creek 2 characters (a rich girl and poor guy with daddy issues) date and breakup- but both of their gay brothers get together and are endgame instead of them (cough jancy vs byler). One of the gay guys (the rich one with the book smart sis) even dated the main girl (Joey) for a while before admitting he was gay and that he was in denial (while dating the main girl for more than a season ). In D.C even the main guy(Dawson) / girl (Joey) don’t end up being endgame (despite teasing it for all 5 seasons) . They did this with a lot of couples in the show. Honestly, the Duffers pretty much borrowed this idea of showing pairings with issues and breaking them up -but toned down how long they’d bait them . Like 11seasons of showing dysfunctional couples date -ick. And Dawson’s creek ... my god it had a literal love octogon/ love webs (so many love squares/pentagons/ and on and off relationships). The 1 adult couple broke up and I’m not exaggeration 4 times, and Dawson got back with 2 of his girlfriends like so many times. And ugh I’d say each (of the 4-5) main characters dated at least 4 people -and each of those relationships lasted for like 20+ eps each... and then after all that build up -break up ). That’s not even including the people the main 5 or so characters would date for like 5-6 eps . Thank god it was toned down compared to Dawson’s creek or cheers. i can’t imagine the frustration watching those shows during its airing 😂

Freaks & geeks (set in the 80s)was also inspo.14 y old Sam who is bullied and called “homo” “queer” etc throughout the whole series - he also obsesses over a cheerleader girl for the whole series and in the second to last ep of the series- they finally start dating  and he realizes they have nothing in common and says “it’s boring. all we ever do is makeout.She likes nothing i like. We can’t talk to eachother. We never have fun.” And he admits he only keeps dating her cause everyone would call him “crazy” to not date her. sam and her are also said to be “from different planets” and “different species”  just like mileven in s3 lol.  The gf of  sam also says before they dated she saw him ‘like a sister’ (like El asking mike if he’d be her brother in s1, before they date). And after this sibling comment various characters -encouraged the couple and said they would be good together (before they dated-like what we’ve seen in st with mileven and other ships ).Sam eventually decides to not cave to peer pressure- and breaks up with her. Meanwhile sam’s sis (is a straight A student, who is initially into a popular guy and starts hanging with the cool kids).  After getting over the first (popular) guy, she later dates another guy- a music-obsessed-stoner-guy  with a cruddy dad...and she breaks up with him (like jancy?). That couple was even called ‘romeo & juliet’ before they broke up-similar to mileven being called “romeo & juliet’ before their breakup. plus r&j were never in love... just like mileven.

All 3 shows had the main guy/girl date but not end up with eachother in the end . And both shows -would build up several pairings that looked like endgame but would show faults in those relationships and would have them breakup (because those pairings were never that healthy together). Which I believe is what they’re doing with jancy, jopper, mileven and lumax (explained in my analysis here all the evidence for why I don’t think they don’t end up together). I mean there’s many reasons I listed in the analysis but you think it’s a coincidence - jancy, lumax, mileven , and Steve/rando girl who rejected him in s3-all incorportated spying on their love interest ? you think the duffers think that’s good to have all these romantic pairings spy on eachother? When in the show they canonically have the us gov (villains) spy via phone taps, and hidden recorders, and cameras? Brenner used El as a spy for his own gain ? they even call the mf a ‘spy’ (which the characters perceive as the  main villain)... i don’t think the mf is  actually villainous but that’s off topic).The point is narratively equating spying as something ‘wrong’ by characters our main cast of heroes is against. But having that same cast of heroes partaking in spying themselves … specifically on to their romantic partners- and not also showing it as a negative. But romanticizing it? Would be quite hypocritical. And a HUGE narrative oversight.

Also build up?

S1- mileven kiss right after el asks if he’ll be her “friend” or “brother”. Has others compare el to mike’s sibling /cousin. Hint Will is gay . Have hints mike is queer too/ and cares deeply about Will. Constantly mention how el physically resembles Will/a boy. Parallel mileven to ted/Karen who were “never in love”. Have Nancy and mike verbally compare the jancy/stancy love triangle to mileven/byler . And at the end of the season mike writes a story for Will that likens the 2 to han/leia. Flo says about jancy/Jon “ only love makes you that crazy and that damn stupid”. (Which flo wasn’t entirely right about since jon punched Steve for insulting his family- for Jon it was familial love -not romantic love. But put a pin in that phrase)

S2- was pretty much byler season (and mileven barely interact that season). Byler say they’d go “crazy together”. But el’s new catchphrase is she’s “not stupid.” They Compare mileven to luke/leia (siblings that kissed) . Ref ghostbusters and parallel byler to the romantic pairing of Dana /venkman (but have el just be a ghost and mike a ghost buster which isn’t romantic but the opposite) .parallel mileven to hopper/el. Have el spy on mike, el hurt a stranger cause of unhealthy jealousy, have mileven dance to a song about a possessive spying/Stalking ex gf . Throw in mileven burns like “they’re not in love they’re not even from the same planet.” (El being et ref) . Have mike say annoyed “a bond ?! (Scoff) cause you shared nougat?! “ (egos like s1 ) “. Mike saying after knowing max for a week “hate you? I don’t even know you?” (He knew el for a week too so no way he loves her -cause he doesn’t know el , just like max ) . mike even criticizes his friends’ instant attraction to max saying “you haven’t even spoken a word to her.”Dustin saying “ I don’t have to . I mean -look at her.” Which makes it even more suspicious that mike was into a girl who multiple characters said looked like a boy (specifically Will) in s1. Have El watch a soap opera (all my children) and mimic the scene of  erica kane and her love interest michael. Which in the soap opera-isn’t endgame, and ended with some stalking after their breakup.

S3- mileven is finally dating : multiple characters (lucas, Will, Hopper, dustin,Max, etc) in the show dislike and verbally complain about them together . In cheers all of sam’s friends hated him dating Dianne and would vocally complain about it (similar to joyce they even clapped/cheered after 1 of their many breakups) . Mike is horrified by the spying(that mileven fans romanticized in s2) , el is happier single and neither is heartbroken over the breakup. They date for 2 eps and then breakup . Mileven being together inhibits El’s character arc from s2 (aka she went from wanting to explore the world and leave the cabin in s2 to see her friends, to ignoring her friends and cutting herself off from the world in order to stay in the cabin all day to make out with mike for 6 months - she would literally lie to her friends about curfew to return to the cabin and kiss mike -going against her ‘friends don’t lie’ mantra from the past 2 seasons too ). Mike canonically doesn’t trust her / doesn’t believe in her ability to make decisions and lies to her and never apologizes for lying. And el doesn’t apologize for spying . They throw in more gay hints of mike & Will. Mileven is called “bullshit” like s2 stancy . And Both pairings in the show kissed a bunch and said “I love you” (but they weren’t endgame). They also contrast s3 mileven scenes to s2 byler scenes and have byler win out. And once again parallel mileven to hopper/el and Karen/ted. As well as paralleling and likening Mileven to stancy in numerous other ways (besides the “bullshit “ line) . They also parallel mileven to stobin (both are straight baits) .They parallel the stobin confession to the mileven one -both confessions have them sitting on the floor, both girls have bandages on their legs, and both confessions are interrupted by dustin. Also both Steve/mike use the terms “crazy & stupid ” to confess to robin/el. But unlike Will who agrees to be “crazy “ with mike .El confused , asks “ what makes you crazy?” And robin says she didn’t have a crush on his “stupid hair”. el even says in reference to mike “there’s more to life than stupid boys.” Showing how el/robin don’t have romantic feelings for the boys-like the flo phrase of s1. Unlike Will who after fighting with mike calls himself “stupid” over and over and rips up the photo of him and mike where they promised to go “crazy together.” Even Steve says in s2 stancy should should “pretend to be stupid teenagers” in love. Emphasis on “pretend”. And when el says she loves mike “the first I love you” plays -the only other time that song plays in s3 is when robin rejects Steve (cause she’s gay.) cough cause mike is gay too.

There’s a lot more in each season (that illustrates mileven was built up -but not as a positive couple but a problematic one that was never was in love to begin with ). But I’m trying to keep this short . You can read this post here where I go in more depth about all of this .

S1-2 builds up the problematic ships (but showed good and bad aspects of their dynamic) . like the spying of jancy, lumax, and mileven or the jealousy. of Hopper in s2. In the s2 finalie they have them kiss or hug/exchange romantic glances. And in S3 we see the after math of this with all the couples officially dating - and they show all the couples issues at the forefront . I already talked about mileven. But, Lumax broke up 6 times (they dated for 6 months- and every month they dated max dumped him ). Jancy fight in the opening of ep 1 and don’t understand each others issues (sexism/poverty-and Jon’s issues with his dad) . And neither supports the other in their passions of journalism & photography.Nancy is also called “nancy drew” who in 1986 (year of s4) before going to college dumps her long term highschool bf (who helped her in many of her past mysteries/novels ). Their relationship was also shown as complex and somewhat dysfunctional because of both parties -before nancy drew dumps him. And (even if not dating like the other pairings) jopper almost go on a date in s3. Joyce was trying to hide the fact she was moving, Hopper was horribly jealous, and all they did was yell and argue.Murray says to joyce regarding hopper “he’s a brute... probably reminds you of a bad relationship” (aka lonnie/Joyce) . They even have Joyce watch a cheers ep- which directly compares jopper to (dianne/Frasier) who weren’t endgame in cheers but a rebound .  Hopper /fraiser both drink chianti . Fraiser asks dianne to marry him/Hopper asks Joyce on a date-both women stand them up. Or when Joyce asks Hopper out she calls her self ‘detective byers ‘and Hopper name drops miami vice. Which had an on and off again relationship for several seasons- of the male /female detectives.The relationship faded out as Gina realized they mainly got together when one or both needed someone. Crockett was very protective of Gina, and had some jealousy when Gina was involved in relationships , but was the first one to be there for her when things went wrong. And they realized it was better to not be together romantically. Heck seems like all these couples have negative film/tv parallels... lucas in s2 mentions not liking winston in ghost busters cause he came ‘super late’ (like Max). in s1 disses michael myers (which Max dressed as). And at the end of s3- lumax dress identically to eric/donna from a ep of that 70s shows (in the ep  eric/donna were broken up).

 (s3 was marketed as the “summer of love” and “summer love” is a euphemism for flings that don’t last.) s4-5 Will probably show good healthy ships/break up the problematic ones from past seasons .

So first 2 seasons focus on the unhealthy ships / and the last 2 seasons focus on healthy ships. S3 the middle season would be considered the turning point -and why none of the popular ships (assumed to be endgame) came off looking that great (compared to how they were presented in s1-2) .

You sat at the cool metal table from where you and the rest of the girls were being quarantined under. 

There were two men sitting in front of you. They said they were your friends, but after you’ve been through on the island. All of the conspiracies you went through...there’s no way that they’re actually FBI agents.

“So you and Leah Rilke are dating?” Agent Faber asks and you just nod, “How did you two meet?” he asks again.

You took a bite of the sushi that they brought you after you requested it, “I was in the foster care system for a long time in Minnesota. I went around lot, but somehow someway I was in California. That’s where I met my adoptive parents and Leah.” 

“Your adoptive parents were originally only supposed to foster you right?” they ask and you nod, “Seems like you made quite the impression.”

“I guess you could say that.” 

“Kids this is Y/N, your new foster sibling.” Mrs. Baylee says, introducing me to the rest of their kids, “This is Atticus, Lincoln, and Elizabeth.”

I just wave at the three kids. Atticus seemed around my age, Lincoln was slightly younger, and Elizabeth looked like she could be in third grade or something of the sort. 

“You’ll be staying in Elizabeth’s room and going to school with them tomorrow. Atticus here is in the same grade as you so he’ll help you manage.” Mr. Baylee explains and you nod softly. 

He laughs to himself, “Don’t talk much, do ya?”

You look at the two men, “And you met Leah at school that day?” 

Again just one nod. 

“Alright well this is where your homeroom is. I don’t know if you need anything, but I’m here. Just give me a shout.” Atticus says and I nod, “I’ll see you around.” 

He walks away down the hall towards the rest of his friends. You enter your classroom and see a bunch of hipster girls wearing cool clothes. And here you were wearing a t-shirt and ripped jeans.

“Crazy, right?” a voice says to you and you turn your head to find the sound, “It’s like required that the girls here have to be hipster posting on their Instagram 24/7.” 

You were met with a beautiful brunette with bright blue eyes, “It makes me feel boring.” 

“But the best girls out there are boring and beautiful.” she smiles at you coyly, “I’m Leah,” she says, extending her hand out to you.

“Y/N.” 

“But there was more to your story than what meets the eye. You had an older sister, that you were separated from in the foster system.” Agent Faber says and you nod. 

“How did the two of you meet again?” Agent Young asks.

You scratch the back of your head, “My foster parents said that we had to get a signature from my birth mom to officially adopt me. They asked a lady to help us, I think her name was Gretchen, to find my birth mom. Gretchen said that she was in Minnesota and that I have an older sister.” 

“But you already knew that you had an older sister?” Agent Young questions and you nod.

“I was 7 when we were separated, I couldn’t forget the girl who always protected me.” 

You sat at the cafeteria table in the rehab center your mom was in with your foster parents. Twiddling your fingers that was in your lap. Another girl with brunette hair came in with what looked like to be her mom. And then another middle aged lady came in. 

All of us sitting at the table. No one willing to speak to each other. 

The middle aged lady spoke up, “Hi girls.” 

Me and the other girl who looked a little older than me stared at each other, “Toni?” was all you could whisper.

“You remember?” she asks and you nod.

“How could I forget my big sister?” you reply. 

The both of you stand up crashing into each other’s arms in a hug. She put her hair in my hand and tighten my arms around her. 

“I’ve missed you kiddo.” Toni whispers.

“I’ve missed you too.”

You don’t know why they were asking you all these questions. They would be more focused on the island than what happened before. So you decided to tell them the truth, but once it comes to the island...you’re gonna hide as much as you possibly can.

“Were you dating Leah before or after this?” he asks.

“Shortly after.” you reply simply.

The two of you were laying on the rough floor at the campsite you and your friends decided to go to. 

Your foster parents let you go. After months of being with them they’ve grown quite fond of you. They really brought you into their home with open arms and even Hudson loosened you up and got you talking to them more. And the kids they’ve been nothing but sweet to you, but no one can replace your actual sister.

You turned your head to look at the beautiful brunette next to you. To find that she was already staring at you. 

“Whatcha looking at?” you ask her softly.

“You.” she replies, “You’re so beautiful.” 

Leah’s hand reaches out towards you. She cups your cheek softly and you lean into the soft touch of her hand. Her beautiful blue eyes staring at you in awe as they slowly drift down to look at your lips. 

She does it once more, asking permission to kiss you. You nod subtly and the two of you slowly start to lean in, like two magnets being completely drawn to one another. 

The two of you finally connect your lips moving in perfect harmony. And it felt like coming home. Kissing her felt like coming home after a long trip, finally getting to sleep in your own bed for the first time. In your whole life full of uncertainty, you finally felt at home. With Leah.

“Be my girlfriend?” you blurt out after the two of you pull apart.

Leah chuckles softly, brushing a strand of hair away from your face, “Take me on a date first and we’ll go from there. Deal?”

“Deal.” you say with a wide smile on your face before leaning back in to kiss her again.

Agent Young starts reading your file as you take yet another bite of the sushi they sent you. You twiddle your hands in your lap looking around the small interrogation room.

“So how did you two find out about the trip?” Agent Fader asks, crossing his arms and leaning back in his chair.

“My parents thought it would be cool if me and Toni went on a trip together. Since we’ve been separated for so long. Toni told them about Martha’s trip that her mom signed her up for.” you explain.

Agent Fader cuts you off, before you could continue, “Where was Toni staying at the time?” he asks.

“Martha’s parents were fostering her. She was the lady who came with her when we went to visit our birth mom,” you answer, “Anyway, Martha’s mom told my parents all about the trip. She signed Toni up,  they signed me up, and eventually Leah convinced her parents to sign her up so we could spend the summer together.” 

“But it didn’t go as planned.” Agent Young chimes in.

You nod with a tight-lipped smile, “Yeah it didn't.” 

The two of you were in the backseat of your parents minivan. Your siblings were up in the middle seat, while you and Leah squished in the back. 

“Why am I nervous? Should I be nervous?” Leah rambles.

You told Toni all about Leah and being the protective sister she is, she did not react well.

 Saying things like: “If I see her be rude to you in anyway, I will not hesitate to throw my piss at her.” 

You grab Leah’s hand intertwining your fingers together, before kissing her hand softly, “Lee, baby, breathe.” you say softly, “She’s gonna realize how happy you make me and everything will be okay.” 

She lets out a deep breath, closing her eyes a little, “Thank you.” she whispers and you nod in response, kissing her cheek softly. 

The two of you reach the airport. Your parents helping you guys get your luggage out of the trunk. They hug you tightly, kissing the top of your head.

“Be safe please.” your mom says to you, squeezing you a little tighter.

You nod, “I will, I promise.”

“Leah, look after this one. She’s a handful. If she ever gets too much just feed her to the sharks.” your dad jokes, giving her a hug.

“Oh I will not hesitate to do so Mr. Baylee.” she replies, returning his hug.

You stare at the two of them with an incredulous look on your face. Both of them laugh at your face before giving each other a high five. Your dad walks up to you and wraps his arms around you, ruffling your hair in the process.

“I’ll see you in a month, don’t be too much trouble.” he says and you tighten the hug.

“I’ll see you later.” 

You give each of your siblings a hug, ruffling the boys hair which causes them to let out a groan in response. 

You and Leah make your way to the gate of the private jet. Where Toni was already sitting in her basketball tank top. 

“Oh God.” Leah mumbles. 

“You got this!” you say to her, kissing her cheek to ease the tension.

You catch Toni’s eyes, running up to her to give her a big hug. When the two of you pull away she looks at Leah, extending her hand out to her.

“Toni.” she says simply. 

Leah shakes her hand and I could see her swallow back her nervousness, “Leah.” 

“And you must be Martha!” you exclaim at the girl who was sat next to Toni’s seat.

She stands up to give you a small hug, “Hi Y/N! It’s nice to meet you!” 

You and Leah take a seat across from your sister and her best friend. Waiting for the chance to be able to board the plane. 

“She scares me.” Leah murmurs under her breath, low enough for only you to hear.

“So the plane crashes, then what happened?” Agent Fader asks.

“I almost died.” 

“Y/N!” Leah screams as she starts swimming back to shore, “Y/N!!” she yells out again.

Searching frantically for where you were. The last thing Leah remembers is holding onto you for dear life before passing out. The rest of it is a big blur. 

“Leah!” Toni yells, running towards her, limping slightly.

“Have you seen Y/N?!” the two girls yell at the same time.

“Shit.” Leah says.

“Fuck.” Toni says at the exact same time. 

The two run along the shore desperate to find your body. Until they see Dot doing CPR on a girl, the two instantly make their way towards her. Only to see Jeanette passed out and not you.

“Have you seen Y/N?” Leah asks, out of breath.

Dot shakes her head, “No sorry.” 

“Help! We need help over here!” Rachel yells. 

She was carrying a limp body in her arms running towards the rest of the group. Leah and Toni take one look at each other before taking off towards Rachel, meeting her halfway. Only to see you lying in her arms passed out.

Rachel lays you down on the floor, “She was drowning. I went in and I pulled her out.” 

Toni immediately starts doing CPR, a little too fast. But she tries to get her posture under her control to save you. 

“C’mon baby. Wake up please.” Leah pleads, tears filling her eyes.

Toni starts murmuring under her breath something incoherent. But she keeps mumbling it over and over again. Leah notices drops falling onto your lifeless face, she leans down a little more to see Toni crying.

“Toni let me take over.” the blue eyed girl says.

Toni just shakes her head, “No I’m fine!” she yells.

But she just goes back to murmuring under her breath. Martha and Shelby come up and everyone’s staring at the sight in front of them.

“Y/N I just got you back!” Toni finally screams, “You can’t die on me!” 

“Please. You’re my home Y/N. I need you.” Leah whispers.

After endless amounts of CPR from Toni. The rest of the girls take turns when exhaustion starts to take over all of them. It’s weird that everyone here knows CPR. 

Dot was about to give up when you start coughing up water. Leah immediately cups your cheek in her hand as you continue coughing. 

“Oh thank God!” Shelby exclaims.

Toni looks at you with a worried look on her face. The ocean water making your hair wet as it plasters onto your face, “Are you okay?” 

“I’m okay.” you say with a nod.

She lets out a relieved breath before hitting your arm hard, “Ow what the fuck?!” you yell at your sister.

“You can’t scare me like that.” she whispers, tears filling into her eyes.

She takes you into a hug, rubbing her back softly. You turn to look at your girlfriend who still had tears dripping down her face. You take her face in your hands, wiping away the tears.

“When I told your dad I’d get rid of you I was just kidding.” she says with a small chuckle.

You match her laugh, smiling at her softly. You kiss her forehead softly, “You can’t get rid of me that easily, Rilke.” 

“All of the girls knew CPR. If just one of them didn’t, I don’t think I’d be here right now.” you state bluntly.

so me n haru have a bunch of informal dates first <.< cuz we met at a cafe near my campus and we kept running into each other there, and i kept trying to talk to him but he kept ignoring me. eventually he finally started giving in n sometimes he would sit n have coffee with me before going back to work with mikey’s pastries. our first ‘official’ date (altho we weren’t technically bf/gf yet) he brought me out to dinner at a high end restaurant n it was really nice until the haitanis crashed it skdjskdjskjds haruchiyo was so mad LMAO

n for rindou — actually this could technically be in the same universe cuz for my selfship w both of them, i still met haruchiyo first and i met rindou through haruchiyo carinzu ftw — anyway so we met through haruchiyo, so say at the first date dinner with haru when he and ran crashed it LMAO but rindou was like ?? there ain’t no way that haruchiyo gets a stable relationship before me or ran, and he gets interested in me and starts hanging around more often. and we actually end up getting along really well cuz he’ll hang around and relax with me when i wanna play video games or write, and haruchiyo is usually busier than him anyway. what i consider my first ‘date’ with him, altho we didn’t label it as a date at the time, i dragged him to go see a horror movie with me much to his displeasure (he doesn’t like movies with like ghosts/supernatural, he prefers slashers SOBS he’s lucky i like both)

It’s been awhile since you’ve been able to hang out with Sicheng without your many responsibilities pulling you both in different directions. Therefore, you leapt at the invitation to visit him at the dorm while you both had a window of free time. Getting these kinds of opportunities was not frequent between your college tasks and his work, and you both always tried to plan things well in advance if it was possible.

However, in the few days before you’re supposed to go over to the dorm, a strange itch begins in your throat, and your head feels fuzzy and warm in a bad way. Thinking the worst, you try to get ahead of it by taking medicine and getting more rest, but it’s just a little too late; you’re sick with a cold. You’re naturally upset about it, but you’re even more disappointed because it means you can’t visit Sicheng anymore—not unless you want to get him and everyone else sick.

Either way, you don’t think you could drive to his dorm even if you wanted to attempt it, considering you’ve only been able to get up to use the bathroom and eat whatever snacks or medicine you have around. Every part of your body feels weaker, although this might also be because you haven’t had energy to cook an actual meal.

You don’t want to break the news to him, but the date is creeping closer and it’s better to tell him now than have him be unpleasantly surprised when the day comes and you never show up. So, you sit up in bed as comfortably as you can and call his number, tugging the sheets around you and staring into space unhappily as the phone rings.

“Sicheng…”

“Hi Y/N,” one of the other boys says from the background, and you think it might be Yangyang.

“Hi Yang,” you respond, but your voice comes out a bit broken as you cough at the end.

“What’s wrong?” Sicheng asks, and it sounds like he’s walking away—maybe going into another room to talk to you privately.

“I’m really sorry Sicheng, but I can’t come over this week...I’m sick and I feel like pure shit.”

“You’re sick?” Sicheng asks, and he sounds both annoyed and concerned. “Like, you’re really sick?”

“Uh, yeah, why wouldn’t I be?” you ask, irritated by the seemingly silly question.

“Y/N, I was just making sure—it’s not like this is the first time you’ve canceled our plans over one reason or another.”

You roll your eyes and sigh, though it comes out a bit ragged. “Excuse me for getting sick, then. It’s not like I could help it, and every time I canceled I had a valid reason. It’s not like I don’t want to see you.”

“I get it, I get it. I didn’t even suggest that Y/N.”

“But you always sound like you’re upset with me every time it happens.”

“Well, yeah. Do you expect me to be happy about not being able to see my girlfriend?” Now he sounds as irritated as you are.

“That’s not even what I’m talking about and you know it.” You want to say more, but you are already tired and the last thing you want to spend your energy on is arguing.

“Look, I don’t know why—”

“Sicheng, I’m really tired. We can just talk about this later, okay? I’m sorry I can’t come. Goodbye.” You don’t wait for a response before ending the call, and you feel a little bad about it, but you don’t feel like dwelling on any of this at the moment.

You sink further down into the nest of pillows you’ve propped up against your headboard and resign yourself to another long and arduous night of trying to fight your sickness. A few tears drop from your eyes, though you try not to cry too much; that would only make your nose even more stuffed up. Eventually, you fall into a restless and light sleep before you even realize it.

However, you’re frightened awake a half hour later—or maybe it’s an hour later, you’re not totally sure—when your phone rings from underneath one of your many pillows.

It’s Sicheng again. Your stomach drops a bit. Maybe he’s more pissed about you hanging up than you thought he’d be, and he’s calling again to say he’s finally had enough of you flaking on him. Which might be a ridiculous conclusion to jump to in any other relationship, but… “Hello?” you ask, your voice now doubly rough from sleep.

“I hate to ask this of you, but can you let me in? I don’t have a key or anything so…”

You pause for a long moment, then sit up in bed, though it takes an effort. Your head is still hot, and you think you might be having a fever dream or haven’t heard him right. “Let you in?”

“I’m outside,” he confirms.

“Outside…” you repeat. Maybe you shouldn’t be this surprised about your boyfriend coming over to your place, but he gave no indication he was coming over. Or that he was even thrilled about dealing with you in these past few months. Plus, it’s snowing pretty steadily outside and will likely get heavier in the next few hours; not many people would want to travel in that weather.

You get up from the bed and go to the front door. As he said, Sicheng is standing there with two bags on each arm. You shuffle to the side to let him in the door, still feeling surprised but mostly dizzy and feverish. “I didn't know you were coming,” you say absentmindedly.

“You hung up before I could say so,” he says. His tone is light, as though he doesn’t want to make a big deal of it, but you can tell he isn’t super pleased about it.

You shift on your feet a bit awkwardly. “Ah yeah….sorry about that…” You follow Sicheng into your kitchen to watch him set the bags on the kitchen counters, and you’re about to sit in one of the chairs until he hurries over to you and gently grasps your arm.

“You should get back in bed. Don’t worry about this stuff in here, I’ll take care of it and bring you your food.”

You raise your eyebrows, but even that facial movement is enough to make your head throb. “You brought food?”

“Well, I wasn’t going to attempt to cook…” He laughs softly as he guides you back to your bedroom and into your bed, and you’re momentarily embarrassed by how messy everything is. You haven’t had the strength or motivation to tidy anything up, and there are tissues all over the place still.

If he notices the mess, which you know he must, he doesn’t say anything about it. He only helps you back underneath the covers and even takes the initiative to throw the messy tissues in your wastebin. Again, you’re embarrassed by him touching everything like it’s not gross, and you pull the blanket up as if to hide beneath it.

“You don’t have to do all that, I can toss them out later,” you insist.

“It’s fine. You’re the patient, remember? Just let me handle it.” He smiles, and you just nod in response.

“Patient, though...you make me sound so sickly.” You want to laugh but your head hurts too much to do so, and you merely make a wounded sound instead.

“You are the patient. My patient,” Sicheng says, and comes over to lay a hand across your forehead. He makes a sad noise at how hot your skin is under his hand. You want to ask him a bunch of questions about why he came and why he’s being so concerned despite your earlier conversation, though they seem kind of ridiculous to you. He’s your boyfriend, and he’s supposed to be concerned, but for the past few months it seems like a wedge has been growing between you. And now, he’s not even as upset about you not being able to come over as he’d normally be.

Sicheng leaves your bedroom to go take care of the stuff in the kitchen. He comes back a few minutes later with soup and medicine and water, and you watch from where you’re propped up on the pillows as he arranges the things on your nightstand.

“Thank you,” you say as he hands you the medicine and water to take. Sicheng watches as you as you do, and you feel strangely bashful under his gaze.

When you grab the soup, your hands are still a bit shaky, so he offers to take it for you instead. “Are you sure? I feel like I’m a baby or something.” You smirk to yourself and shake your head.

“If I don’t you’ll spill it on yourself, and I don’t think you want that.” Sicheng gives you a small smile, and your cheeks warm a little—more than they already are, anyway—when your hands brush each other’s as he takes the bowl. The feeling is almost foreign; you haven’t experienced that sensation so acutely since you did when you first started dating and everything was still new and electric.

It’s quiet for a while as he feeds you, but you’re increasingly curious about the whole situation, so you finally decide to speak.

“Do the others know you’re gone?” you ask between bites of food. “Like, I mean...I’m sure they do, but…” You’re not sure what exactly you’re trying to ask him, and your words falter for a moment.

“Yes, but I’m not really supposed to be gone right now.” He feeds you another bite, and you chew it somewhat sadly.

“Then why did you come? You could get in trouble.”

“Do you not want me here?” His smile is joking, though it doesn’t quite reach his eyes. That makes you feel guilty. “It doesn’t really matter...it won’t be the first or last time I get into trouble over something that really isn’t that serious.”

“No, I...want you here. I’m surprised you came, though.”

“Why?” he asks, though he looks like he already knows the answer.

“We both know things have been kind of shitty lately. Between us.” You’re wary of expanding any further and dragging up all those unpleasant memories—and ruining the small, relatively peaceful moment you’ve both created—so you let him give you another spoonful of soup to fill the silence.

Sicheng’s smile fades a bit and is replaced with a more solemn look. “You’re not wrong about that. I just...I’m sorry for making you feel like I’ve ignored your feelings. And for being too impatient with you. I want to be next to you all the time, but it’s hard to not be able to do that.”

“It’s not entirely your fault...I haven’t done a great job of keeping to our plans.” You hang your head. “College takes up so much of my time with exams and study groups and whatever, and then this happens…”

Sicheng sets the spoon down in the bowl. “But...I think that’s life. I shouldn’t get mad with you about it. Some things are just out of our control. Seriously, though, I’m really glad that you always focus on your studies. You should. Don’t let me or anything else stop you from making a life for yourself.”

Sighing quietly, you place your hand on Sicheng’s knee, wanting to hold his hand although he’s currently occupied with holding your soup. You settle for tracing your fingertip across the bone of his knee, feeling the solidity of it. It somehow makes you feel grounded. “I’ve missed you.”

“I’ve missed you too, Y/N.” He gives you a bittersweet look and carefully shifts the bowl to his right hand so he can rest his other hand on top of yours. That single gesture makes you want to never let go.

As the night wears on, you assume Sicheng will be readying himself to go back to the dorm soon. The idea of that makes you sad, but you don’t express that aloud; you don’t want to keep him any longer than he should stay. The time on your phone shows it’s almost 1 a.m., and the members will start wondering when he’ll get back if they aren’t already.

However, Sicheng already has different plans of his own.

From where he lies on the bed beside you, he watches you as you recline against the pillows, your eyes dropping a little while you both watch TV. He moves a curly strand of hair out of your face, and you startle a little at the tickle of his fingers on your skin. “Y/N. Do you want me to stay? I mean, I was already planning to...but only if you’re okay with it.”

“Is that a good idea? You could get sick. Actually, you’ve probably already caught all my germs from being here for so long...”

Sicheng shakes his head. “You’re sick. I won’t leave you alone here.”

“But you have schedules and all that, you can’t do those if you catch my cold—”

Sicheng cups your cheek. “Y/N. You can make 100 reasons why I shouldn’t be here, but that doesn’t mean I’ll leave you by yourself like this.”

You sigh and turn to face him. You press your forehead to his, think better of it for a moment, and then do it again anyway. “Okay. Please stay.” Sicheng lifts his head from yours to kiss your forehead, and the soft press of his lips makes you momentarily forget about all of your pains.

You go through your bedtime routine with Sicheng’s help, which feels incredibly nice to do after the last couple days have been spent just falling into bed and feeling super crusty about it. He puts your moisturizer on your face and ties your hair up for you in the mirror, which makes you smile at your reflection.

“Can you get me my bonnet?” you say after he finishes with your hair.

“Bonnet…?”

It’s right then when you realize he hasn’t seen you in a bonnet before. The times you’ve been to his dorm or he’s been at your place, neither of you could spend the night.

You try not to laugh at the confusion on his face. “It’s on the dresser,” you say. “It’s pink. You should recognize it as soon as you see it.”

Sicheng wanders back into your bedroom to find it, though you can almost see the question mark floating above his head. Luckily, he’s successful in his quest and comes back with the pink bonnet after a few moments. “You wear this? What does it do?”

“It protects my hair from breaking,” you tell him. “Cotton pillows are not good for my hair.”

Sicheng nods and fixes your bonnet on your head, his fingers brushing against your hot cheek as he brings his arms back down. “Protects your hair? Hm...should I be wearing one of these too? We could match.”

You burst out in laughter, for real this time, and it makes you cough right after. Sicheng rubs your chest for comfort. “I think you’ll be fine without one, Sicheng.”

Soon enough, you’re both tucked into bed, your room dark and quiet and warm. The snow is still coming down outside, and it’ll probably be high enough to build a snowman with by the time morning comes. You’ll save all that for when you get better, though.

Sicheng wraps his arm around your waist, pulling you closer into his body and tucking you against him as if sheer proximity could cure you of your cold. You smile softly at his actions and tuck your face into his chest, drifting into a sleep that’s more peaceful than any you’ve had in days.

Maybe it won’t cure your sickness, but it is definitely mending the sadness you’d been feeling for so long.
