itâs tiiiiimeee
i havenât watched this show in full in five years đ”âđ«but itâs october and i was gonna watch thee byeler episode aka 2x02 on halloween anyway so i thought i might as well rewatch the entire show and make it everyoneâs problem
forgot about the jumpscare being right at the beginning
baby will <3
they were all BABIES and now theyâre all grown and the damn final season still hasnât premiered lmao
dustin was so adorable
âit was a seven.â âhuh?â âthe roll, it was a seven. the demogorgon, it got me.â the way will was incapable of lying to mike, GOD, i feel sick
fun fact: willâs adorable little âsee you tomorrow!â is immediately what made him my favorite
âkiss your mom ânight for me!â lmfao
forgot how damn good the jumpscares are
gonna need mike to see will with a gun at least once before this show is over
âdamn, you look like hell, chief!â âoh, yeah? well, i looked better than your wife when i left her this morning.â HELP
âlonnie used to call him queer.â âis he?â FUCKING HELL, HOPPER đ i completely forgot about that scene lmfao
EL, MY BABY
benny was such a good man :( he didnât deserve to die
that poor dog was so hated irl đ
âyou think we got a problem here?â my brother in christ, a boy is missing
âiâm the only one that cares about will!â mike loves will so much, iâm gonna cry
i completely forgot about hopâs daughter
mike sneaking out while steveâs sneaking in đ this show is also a comedy
winona ryder the actress that you are
chapter 2
maybe iâm going to find out in this ep i canât remember if they ever investigate bennyâs death or link it to everything else that was going on
âstop it, youâre freaking her out!â âsheâs freaking ME out!â lucas was the only real one in the beginning
poor baby. el didnât even know what privacy was before this moment.
âoh, you can speak!â she gets that a lot đ
mike and el had so much potential as friends, FUCK the duffers for ruining them by making it romantic. now they donât even seem like they like each other
i hope s5 focuses on more on will and lucasïżŒâ friendship
jonathan was such a good brother
brenner. always at the scene of the fucking crime.
mike naming his dino âroryâ because he roars đ„č
FUCK BRENNER ALL MY HOMIES HATE BRENNER
karen was such a good mom in the beginning
i hate lonnie with a passion, heâs an abusive piece of shit who shouldâve been killed off
i donât blame lucas at all for the way he was acting with el at first
âone kid goes missing, the other one runs wild? some real fine parenting right there.â
they kept pointing out so many similarities between will and el, i canât believe they didnât go anywhere with it
âcanât ask a corpse a question.â die. just die.
nancy: *losing her virginity*
barb: *losing her life*
chapter 3
âno one breaks in here.â yeah, they just break out
love jonathan but steve wasnât exactly wrong about the pictures
joyce byers the mother that you are
mike wanted nothing to do with el once they found willâs âbodyâ but weâre supposed to believe that he loved her the second he saw her in the woods.
chapter 4
i canât believe they showed that mike has all of the drawings will has created and expected us to be normal about it
âscrew his funeral!â âwhat?!â TEARS
jonathan loves joyce and will so much đ„ș
steve was such an unbearable asshole
can we PLEASE talk about charlie being able to hold his own with winona in that scene about willâs body? we already know winonaâs gonna blow it out of the water but he did just as well
completely forgot about mike doing elâs makeup this episode dkfkgjd
âwhere are you from, exactly?â âbad place.â đ
that troy scene still sends
âthe kid is dead. end of story.â
they put too much pressure on el. i hope when all this shit is over sheâs able to just be a normal kid.
this show used to be so fucking good
i love how hop tries lying to the state trooper and when that doesnât work he just knocks him the fuck out đ
I FUCKING HATE LONNIE
iâm so glad they had jonathan realize that joyce was telling the truth about everything that was going on instead of just dragging it all out.
chapter 5
hate lonnie for taking advantage of joyce when sheâs clearly in a vulnerable position
âwait until we tell will that jennifer hayes was crying at his funeralâ lmao
all this season is showing me is how severely theyâve robbed us of joyce and will scenes in future episodes
âman, these arenât real nilla wafers.â mr. clark must think theyâre horrible friends, iâm crying. dustin is right, though, fake nilla wafers suck.
âit might even swallow us whole.â and thatâs exactly whatâs happening by the end of s4
âheâs wanted to go to nyu since he was six. years. old!â she shouldâve killed lonnie right then & there
canât prove it but jonathan fell in love with nancy the second she shot that can on her first try
jonathan clocked nancyâs ass BAD in the woods
forgot just how much lucas hated el this season
byeler and jancy have paralleled each other too many times for it to just mean nothing in the end.
chapter 6
the jumpscares in this show are top tier
what i love about this show is how it still has me holding my breath even though i already know whatâs going to happen
âi donât wanna be alone. do you?â âno.â i was gonna say he wouldnât be alone cause joyce is there but i remembered he doesnât wanna tell her til itâs all over
early jancy were so awkward, i love them <3
âi could have been killed!â âwhich is exactly why we need her. sheâs a weapon!â but mike loves her at this point, right?
lucas loves will so much, itâs a shame we havenât seen much more of their friendship
âyouâre my best friend, too.â âokay :Dâ dustin looked so happy đ
âwhatâs the weirdest part? me or the bear trap?â âyou, definitely you.â pls
jonathan beating the shit out of steve was so satisfying
âonly love makes you that crazy, sweetheart.â iâm not even gonna say anything. you all know.
we donât give mike enough appreciation for being such a selfless person. he did everything he could to find will, he almost killed himself to protect dustin, he let el live in his basement without even knowing her, etc.
âsheâs our friend and sheâs crazy!â i love dustin with my whole heart
BABIES đ«¶đŒ
chapter 7
âif anyone asks where i am, iâve left the country.â this season is really reminding me why mike was my favorite in the beginning
i wanna hug el so bad
âour son with a girl?â ted, to mike:
âa psychotic child broke his arm!â âa little girl, chief. a little one.â âthat tone! do you hear that tone?â âhonestly, iâm just trying to state a fact. it was a little girl.â this entire exchange is sending me so bad
âyou couldnât take jonathan byers.â get his ass!
it was such a great choice to have joyce be the first one to ever give el comfort because sheâs such a soft, comforting person and i canât think of anyone better
chapter 8
made it to the finale! gonna be honest, i didnât think iâd get here in only two days but this show sucked me in the exact way it did the first time
âgo to hell.â joyce is everything
waiting til this episode to give flashbacks on hopâs daughter was an excellent choice
steve just wanted to apologize to jonathan and now heâs an exasperated mother of seven. life comes at ya quick!!
choosing not to acknowledge that scene beyond this for the sake of my mental health
el is a badass but she shouldnât have to be
brenner shouldâve never made it to season 4
these kids acted their ASSES off in this show
GOD THIS JOYCE, HOPPER AND WILL SCENE
youâd think everything that went down would make nancy and karen care more about mike and pay attention to him but it doesnât. mike deserves so much better.
will is in a hospital bed worrying about jonathanâs hand. I LOVE THIS KID.
byeler hug <3
they all really wanted to tell will about jennifer hayes crying đ
âher nameâs eleven.â âlike the number?â he sounded baffled lmaooo
getting will back mustâve been so bittersweet for nancy
hop keeps throwing away lit cigarettes and all i keep thinking is that heâs gonna start a wildfire eventually
mikeâs soft âsee you, willâ đ„č
the camera!!
âyour wife doesnât have time to cook for me.â pls
the byers family đ«¶đŒ
my love for this show has officially been revived. rewatching this reminded me why i loved this show so much in the first place. the acting is amazing, especially from the kids, the writing was great, and the fucking jumpscares were incredible. iâm so excited to start season 2!!

thinking ab your characters and their hypothetical interests lol
in my head donnie has a baseball card collection worth thousands and is super into old video games
i feel like arthur is super thrifty and takes cool pictures on old cameras
adrian is a star wars fan
leander is really into some random rich people sport
and theo is thee biggest film snob
Oh I LOVE this! Youâre so dead on, this is exactly what I would have said. If I can add a few, this is what I think the guys would collect/be into in their everyday lives:
Donnie: baseball cards, the Atari, VHS tapes (think Alien, The Fly, Jurassic Park but also Johnny Dangerously, Flash Gordon, The Last Dragon), Converse in too many different colors, those bobbleheads they give out at baseball games, every drawing and art project his nieces have ever given him, and Motown music (especially Gladys Knightâhe canât hit the high notes in Midnight Train to Georgia, but damn it if he doesnât try)
Arthur: old sweaters, wool socks, film photography, leatherbound journals (he doesnât really write in them, he just likes to have them lying around), used books that smell like cigarettes, really shitty coffee, Nick Drake, Mazzy Star, and certain Rolling Stones albums. He has a vintage turntable and displays whatever album heâs listening to on two thumbtacks heâs wrestled into the wall.
Adrian: Star Wars (especially the lost Christmas special, which he inexplicably has a copy of), Arnold Palmers, those boat parades that cross the Puget Sound, soft vintage leather, certain knitwear, Pulp, Seattle sourdough (heâs never tried the San Francisco stuff), disco balls, and rooftop patios. Heâs a tricky one to pin down.
Leander: the boy is so into lacrosse. Heâs got a friend on a recreational womenâs team, and heâs dragged you to probably a hundred of her games. He also loves pontoon boats, though those are reserved for special occasions. See also: aftershave, aran sweaters, David Sedaris (eventually), jazz clubs, walks in the park, long coats, late-night diners, and, oddly enough, Violent Femmes.
Theo: âSpielberg is a geniusâ and itâs just that scene from ET where the camera pans over a cliff (heâs right and you know it), psychoanalyzing Cronenberg characters, Ralph Lauren, runnerâs high, little treats after work, classic romantic literature (E.M. Forster), Dungeons and Dragons, college radio. He also buys every season of The X-Files on VHS as it comes out. He says he likes the psychology of the characters, but you know heâs got such a thing for Agent Scully.
Clark: REM, dancing in the kitchen (not even in a romantic wayâlike, headbanging to Pixies while he makes pasta), immediately throwing his necktie on the floor when he gets home, noise machines, going to Guitar Center just to âtry everything outâ (he doesnât know how to play), that little corner in the record store where you can put on headphones and sample an album. Also Seattle public transportation, even when it sucks.
Also, sweet anon, I did see your other ask! Working on something extra special for ya, hang tight â„ïž I love this kind of prompt, itâs so fun for characterization and I love the opportunity to challenge myself by thinking about what makes these characters different from each other. Thank you so much love!
#toady talkin#anon ask#had the longest day and i was just gonna come home and watch shitty reality tv until i fell asleep but this put me in such a better mood#now i have lots of ideas for your other ask so stay tuned! love ya!

Alright Season 3 lets give it up for season 3 everyone.
Cannot believe this show left me on "How do you know what you brought back it 100% pure Sam?" and I just said to myself
GODDAMN
and then just didn't watch S3E1 for three days
Anyway. Liveblogging spn while I work tonight. We're bringing back the old days where I did this with x files if any of you remember that LMAO
Kicking things off with a bang (and me trying to not post too many rambles about a stupid tv show, so I'm conglomerating my thoughts into big posts instead)
we have S3E1 - The Magnificent Seven
Love this show's deep appreciation for full black contact lenses MWAH
cheffs kiss
Sorry I know I should be focusing on the evil demon smoke going to infect whatever city this is but like. Do you guys actually genuinely have flags out the front of your houses like this for real
Like really. Do your houses really have flags like that.
OH YEAH BABEY SEASON 3 GOT AN INTRO STING GRAPHICAL UPDATE!!!!!!!!!! NICE
He is SO concerned
No one is giving me practical effects like this show is and I'm living for this
I WISH there was more of a scene in australia cause god I'd work as a prop maker for a living if it was a viable career to do more horror aligned stuff here.
They've spiced up the camera work this season and it is FUN!!!!
These two are great I hope they're gonna be regular supporting characters PLEASE
Highly entertaining seeing Dean's superpower of "Flirt with woman successfully" actually used as a utility (bonus points because it's making him uncomfortable)
RARE HAT-LESS BOBBY SPOTTED
Oh.
Absolutely visceral death, but a real damn shame because these two were cool :(
This show has no right just putting jokes like this right after a scene like THAT.
These dickheads are far too fun to be a one off PLEASE
Australian chanting
FOIGHT FOIGHT FOIGHT FOIGHT FOIGHT!!!!!!!!
Alright that was a fun way to start a season. Nice recap. I get it. It'dved been a while since it last aired. I like shitty pissed off Sam a LOT.
Are you tired of being nice Sam? Don't you just want to go apeshit?
Round 2 Electric Boogaloo with S3E2 - The Kids are Alright
Starting strong once again with a callback to Victorian worksafe ads!!
(Victorians know.)
Love that Sam inherited NONE of the lying genes in the family
I'm sorry you cant make the comment "as many as I can squeeze out" (EUPHAMISM) and then immediately smack me in the face with a fucking GUMBY REFERENCE?????!!!!!!!!!
Fuck off I hate this show. Fuck you dean you stupid piece of shit
A FUCKING
GUMBY REFERENCE (how many of you know what that is LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO)
Look I get it, I do, but c'mon he looks so fucking awkward getting cake while these two women are talking about the explicit details of his prior intimate experience with Lisa from 8 years ago
Like what the fuck did they DO to illicit a reaction as intense as these two women are giving
No I will not suspend my disbelief for the running gag No I'm not taking this too literally NO i don't have a problem with interpreting jokes
The closeup of Dean's face as his brain was doing the dialup tone killed me, then immediately PANIC but don't drop the cake (SAME)
Anyway. Lisa I love you. You're amazing. Please be done justice by this show. Please.
Need you all to know I go through hell (HAR HAR) to watch this show
And I thought my conversations in cafes sounded unhinged to bystanders (LITERALLY had some old dude tell me and a friend we were weirdos as we minded our own business drawing horror art in a cafe hgakjrhgkagh)
HATE that my brain just went "NOT THE SARAN WRAP SKIN" (we don't call it that. Next I'll start pronouncing things more wrong than I already do)
Not the white DS Lite!!!!!!!!
Remember this kid you bullied in highschool? This is them now
Oh this show doesn't pull punches and it has some NICE shots
Anyway bye Lisa I love you I hope you come back soon :(
the running gag of bizarre interior décor hotel room never ceases to entertain me, I'm like a small child
Anyway
ran out of room for more images on this post so. Who knows maybe I'll fuck off or I'll do a part 2 tonight we'll see

for the wip title ask game:
'the droning engine'
oh boy, this is my super self-indulgent fic, lmao. I've been super into IndyCar my whole life, as is the rest of my family, so it's my IndyCar AU for the Terror (with a focus on fitzier as the narrative drive behind it).
It's kind of unwieldy and a bigger project than I thought it would be, so it's still very much in the works/in the planning stages while i draft prose as it comes to me, but I've been poking at it in my free time. The basic premise is Crozier is an older driver, signed to team Terror, a smaller team, but one that generally is in good standing. He's got a really odd rivalry with Fitzjames, and this comes to a head at the start of the work, when the Terror management signs James on as a driver. Basically, the plot is going to stretch over the entirety of an IndyCar season, and I'm going to try to hit major plot beats from the show in this story as the characters all vie for the championship for the season. Some stuff gets changed around, just to make things work, but that's the general premise.
I have it planned for the final driver lineup for team Terror to be Crozier, Fitzjames, Silna, and I think Little, but that's still in flux. Hickey was on the team, but gets let go after publicly starting a fight with Silna and suffering the consequences, lol. He continues to scheme in the background as the season continues to unfold, because a different team snaps him up pretty quickly. Is it conventional for how drivers are passed around and contracts are signed? no, probably not, but I do what I want, lol.
I have plans for general plot beats, how I want to draw narrative similarities for things like the no good, very bad wardroom dinner from the first episode, carnivale, and character deaths in the show without...... actually killing anybody, because I can't really have that.
I want the vibes for the fitzier part of the story to be the kind of "they would absolutely fuck several times before actually talking about their feelings" kind of dynamic, so I think that's the route I'm going to take and have their relationship really blossom towards the end of the season, but i'm also still planning out the specifics of that one. I really like the added tension of a secret relationship, given that they're on the same team and that motorsports doesn't necessarily have the most.... open-minded audience (it's very fun being an unpatriotic queer person at these events. i am....... very much in the minority there), so I want to play with that a bit, too. I thought I had a neat and tidy plan, but it rather started crumbling in my hands when i sat down to actually try to write it, so I think I'm going to be wrangling this one for a bit.
but i'm very excited to actually get to it someday! i know this write-up is very rambly and a bit unhinged, but i truly have so many thoughts about it that it's hard to organize into a coherent, short summary, lol. I have a lot of personal history tied up in this, too, so it's hard not to just go on cool tangents about the sport. this project has taken a back seat as my master's work ramps up, since it's just.... so much bigger than i thought it would be. but i really want to work on it over this winter break, creative juices willing.
and as thanks for reading........... all of this rambling, lol, here's a snippet from my draft of the "birdshit island"-cum-team-dinner scene:
Francis is at the end of his patience with the man, at this point in the day, and snaps. âWhy donât you tell us all about that crash in Monterey, James? That one was rather spectacular, if I remember right.â Fitzjames sours immediately, frowning and gritting his teeth. Francis has exactly a half a second of deep satisfaction at the expression before Blanky viciously kicks him in the shins under the table. Francis winces and glares at him, leaning down to rub at the spot. It had hurt, damn it. That prosthetic leg wasnât soft by any stretch of the imagination.
#thank you!!#i'm very happy with the title too. it's from one of my favorite duran duran songs: the chauffeur#'and the droning engine throbs in time with your beating heart' i couldn't use it for anything else tbh.#i have. entire pages of my small notebooks filled with drivers and their assorted teams. their spotters. strategists. pit crew members.#lead mechanics.#which teams which crew members would be on and why.#i have a plan for irving and james to get into a crash right towards the end and james very much does almost die#but he doesn't. he's fine. nobody will die in this one.#but i'm so. so excited to actually write that one out. it and the angry gasoline alley makeout that starts the relationship are like the tw#scenes that inspired this whole monstrosity.#sophy is running the team since franklin retired the year before.#jcr is a retired driver who works as a tv broadcaster (james hinchcliffe did this in real life and i absolutely drew off of that)#blanky is crozier's strategist. he's also a retired driver after he lost a leg the year before in a crash. yes it means i have to rework th#reason crozier gets sober in episode 5 but i couldn't NOT have them be on a driver's team together. jopson is his spotter.#i am having so much fun with it. it's a fucking monster lmao#i have 19.4k words drafted already and i think it's like. maybe half of what needs to be there. why am i like this#the terror#fitzier#kind of. in rough form rn.#but yeah this is super super self-indulgent but i've been going to the indy 500 for..... 20 years now. i've seen it 18 times in person.#i simply must. by my hyperfixations combined i can make a fic that appeals to like 3 whole people lmao

Why Samurai Jack is a Fan-Frickinâ-Tastic Character
Salutations, random people on the internet who certainly wonât read this! I am an Ordinary Schmuck. I write stories and reviews and draw comics and cartoons.
And today, Iâd like to introduce you to somebody:
This is Samurai Jack, from the popular Cartoon Network series Samurai Jack. Jack is a rare case. Where most shows would have a cast of main, secondary, and recurring characters of varying sizes, Samurai Jack is a series that mostly follows its titular character on his own. Sure, occasionally, you'll see the Scottsman or Aku making an appearance once in a while. But for ninety-five percent of the series, it's entirely focused on Jack and whatever oddball bounty hunter he's forced to deal with for the next twenty-two minutes. This type of decision can be risky because without quality writing, strictly following the same character week after week could get boring real quick. Thankfully, Samurai Jack is a series that's packed to the brim with incredible writing and direction, making Jack himself a fan-frickin'-tastic character.
How is that possible? Well, let me count the ways.
1. Heâs the right type of overpowered
Jack knows almost every fighting style in the world and uses that knowledge to survive every bounty hunter, demon, and/or robot he faces every episode. On paper, this type of character could seem unbelievable given that he's just a mortal man, and even monotonous to know he always wins. But that's the thing: Even though Jack manages to almost always win every fight he's in, it's quickly explained why in the very first episode. Through a montage, we see Jack learning every fighting style from several teachers, each of them helping him prepare for the ultimate battle against Aku, an unspeakable evil. Through the simple act of showing us a few scenes of Jack learning a new skill, it's easy to understand why he's a difficult opponent to beat and easy to believe when he introduces another fighting style we haven't seen him use yet. Plus, while Jack's fighting is formidable, that doesn't make him--
WRONG SHOW! But it's true.
Despite winning every episode, it is never an easy feat. Nearly every battle results in Jack getting beat up and torn apart (Or, his clothes do, anyway). When this happens, it makes the victory feel earned rather than easily given. Take his fight against the beetles in episode three, for example. All of his traps go off without a hitch, and he makes it out while standing upon a pile of his vanquished foes. However, during the fight, his armor got stripped away entirely, and he's now scratched up and covered in robot oil:
That image alone proves that even though heâs winning, it doesnât come easy for him. That remains a staple throughout most of the series, throwing in a few instances when he temporarily loses only to make his eventual victory all the sweeter. He may be overpowered, but at least it's still entertaining to watch regardless.
2. He adapts quickly
A bit of background information to those who haven't the show (probably should have done this in the beginning, but live and learn, I guess): Jack is an ancient samurai that gets magically teleported to a future where his mortal nemesis rules the world. Now, Jack is forced into an environment vastly different from his own, and in turn, he's forced to deal with a lot of stuff he doesn't know. Most writers would take advantage of this type of predicament to make a ton of fish-out-of-water jokes as a way to poke fun at the idea of a samurai being in a futuristic "utopia" (Or, at least, in Aku's eyes, it's a utopia). Thankfully, the writers avoid that cliche. In fact, if my memory serves me right, there's only one fish-out-of-water joke in the entire series. Which I'm more than grateful for because having a character getting thrown off and confused by the world around him would have gotten old fast. But it's not just being in a future world that Jack quickly gets used to. It's also being in situations he's unfamiliar with. Whether it's learning to fit in with dance-crazed zombies or being turned into a chicken (yes, that happens), it doesn't take too long for Jack to figure out a way to get through his current crisis. It proves that even though Jack is a strong warrior in battle, he's also a strategic one who can't be so easily outsmarted.
3. He plays off of everyone he encounters
Jack, in almost every sense of the word, is a straight man. Most of his humor comes from interacting with the bombastic temperaments of others due to his own behavior being so stoic and calm. The series accomplishes this feat by having the future world filled with colorful personalities, making almost every character the best comedic partner for Jack. Primarily through Aku and the Scottsman, who, as I mentioned before, are the only characters that make regular appearances. These are characters with personalities that clash with Jack's, what with Aku being bombastic and chaotic and the Scottsman being loud and crash. Every time Jack interacts with either of them, comedy almost always follows. A good thing too because while Jack can have his own humorous moments, it's better to pair a straight man with someone insane if you want the laughs to come frequently.
4. Heâs still a ton of fun himself!
That being said, Jack is still a riot when he gets to be. By and large, I'd say he has a dry sense of humor, often shining through when he interacts with someone carrying the chaos for the both of them. But, occasionally, there are moments when Jack lets his goofy side out, and it's always funny. They're rare, but that in itself is why they work. Because since Jack always acts so serious in this series, seeing him suddenly break that character results in a laugh because it's something we wouldn't expect from him. If he always acted like this, it wouldn't hit as hard as it would only just be his usual sense of humor. So seeing him smile like an idiot as he's waiting "for the magic to begin" causes me to bust a gut laughing each time.
5. He lives despite tragedy
But not everything is all fun and games for our protagonist.
Jack has one goal in this series: Get back to the past and stop the future of Aku from happening. Several episodes make it clear how strenuous a task this could be, showing Jack briefly losing hope that he'll even complete it. Hell, a good chunk of the final season is him practically given up. He still fights to stop Aku's minions from wreaking havoc, but you can see that the light has left his eyes, and he is more than willing for it to end. But, despite how hard things get and how tragic his life can be, there is always a spark of hope that reminds him what he's fighting for and gives him a second wind to finish it. Even when he's at his lowest point, when everything is seemingly hopeless, Jack will always get back up to defeat Aku, no matter what timeline they're in. It is truly noble and shows just how much of a hero Jack is. In fact--
6. Heâs the definition of what a hero should be
At least, to me, he is.
What do I mean? Well, I always believe that a hero is a person who would do everything they can to do the right thing, refusing to let innocent people suffer no matter what the cost. Jack proves it in every episode, frequently the ones where he's inevitably screwed over by his own selflessness. He could easily finish his quest and finally get back to the past, but because it could mean that someone innocent would be badly affected by it, Jack always doubles back to save them. The best example is in the second episode of season two. Jack gets ahold of a fairy that he heard can grant him any wish that he wants, but it's trapped in this ball of energy and will never get out. Jack can just wish to go back to the past and stop Aku once and for all. He only needs to make one simple wish. And what does he wish for? The fairy's freedom.
Because that's who Jack is. He's not the guy who would bargain for the life of another, even if his quest is more important. You can argue all you want that if saving something as inconsequential as the fairy's life is pointless due to tragedies like it being preventable if Jack successfully goes back in time. But that doesn't matter to him. A life is a life, and Jack is not the person to trade it. He's a hero and a damn good one at that.
There are many reasons why Samurai Jack is a fantastic character, but the one above, and the others I've just listed, prove how he is a fan-frickin'-tastic character.
(Sidenote: Does it bother anyone else that, despite five full seasons, we've never known what his real name is? No? Just me? Ok.)

Richard E. Grant Reveals Whether Classic Loki Is Gone for Good: 'How Do You Top That?' (Exclusive)
[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Loki Season 1, Episode 5, âJourney Into Mystery.â]
Richard E. Grant seems the ideal candidate to be conscripted into Marvel's cinematic universe: He's an Oscar nominee (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) who doesn't take himself too seriously (he's been in two Hitman's Bodyguard movies) and he's already on the Disney payroll (having joined the Star Wars franchise for The Rise of Skywalker). Yet, the actor says he and Marvel had never discussed his entrée into the MCU until Loki.
"I'd been in Logan, but that's completely separate," he told me over Zoom. "I'd joked on and off down the years with Tom Hiddleston, because of some vague similarity in the way that we look -- me, a much older version of course -- about working together as father and son in something. I assumed because I was asked to play Old Loki, I thought, 'Oh, this is the call finally,' because of the physical similarity. So, that's as much as I knew."
Grant made his Loki debut in the post-credits scene of episode 4 as "Classic" Loki, a Variant of our Hiddleston's God of Mischief who dons Loki's comics-accurate green and gold getup and ultimately goes out in a blaze of magical glory in the penultimate episode. Ahead of the Loki finale, Grant chatted with ET about answering Marvel's call, his one major complaint with his costume and whether Classic Loki is gone for good.
ET: Beyond you looking Hiddleston-y or him looking Richard E. Grant-y, what was it about this character in this story that you knew, "Yes, this is my part in the MCU"?
Richard E. Grant: Well, the key is in Old Loki, because being 64, I was older than anybody on the entire crew or cast. So, that was the clue in, I thought, "Old Loki, that's it -- I'm in the old age roles now."
What else were you told about him in that initial pitch? And was the costume part of it? Because it seems so much part of the character.
Yeah. And when the costume designer showed me my face on this costume that she designed and I saw the Jack Kirby drawings from the '60s, I thought, "Oh, great! As I have no muscles" -- as you can see -- "I'm finally going to be in a muscle suit. I'm going to have muscles like Tom has got!" And of course, I got there and I said, "Well, where's the muscle suit?" They said, "You don't have a muscle suit. This is what you're wearing." I said, "But this is like Kermit the Frog. There's no muscles. There's nothing here! How can I fight in Asgard?" [Laughs] "No, no, it's your magic that counts!" And I said, "Help me. Just give me the muscle suit," but they refused. So, I'm still sore headed that I was never given a muscle suit to fight Asgard as in all the drawings. I still don't really why they didn't do that, but maybe they wanted withered Loki. Who knows?
So, what was your reaction the first time you got all the garb on and saw yourself in the mirror?
Horrified, because I had no muscles! I was standing there like sort of a geek with these Y-fronts. I remember when I was a kid in the back of all the comics, they used to have these little drawing adverts with a skinny kid having sand kicked in his face. And they used to have these chest expanders, they said, "Send off for one of these chest expanders and you too could look like Thor!" Well, I never did, and I thought, well, finally, when I'm cast as Old Loki, this is going to be my chance. And damn, they took it away from me in that too. So I'm pissed at them for that.
How did Hiddleston react when he first saw you in it?
He said, "You have no idea what kind of response this is going to elicit when it comes out." I said, "That doesn't sound too positive or hopeful to me without the muscles, Tom." And he said, "No, no, believe me, I've been playing this part and there's a universe of people who are so obsessed and so ready to see Classic Loki. Be prepared for it." I didn't really take him seriously. I thought, "Well it's a TV series. How many people will watch this on a new channel?" Yada, yada. And how right he was looking into the crystal ball and how wrong I was, because since it came out last Wednesday, I have been absolutely flabbergasted by the response. My Twitter feed and Instagram have increased in vast numbers, and the response has been pretty astonishing. I'm amazed and grateful that it hasn't been negative so far.
I loved your post, by the way, about how your father would have reacted to this costume.
Well, he was right! I'm still at 64 earning my crust by wearing makeup and green tights. [Laughs]
I have to assume this was also your first time with an alligator as your scene partner?
It was. And in reality it was three stuffed cushions sewn together. Sort of fun to hold!
Alligator Loki is such a breakout star and I loved seeing the blue plushy you used on set. What was it like filming those scenes? Did it feel absolutely ridiculous?
No, because I was grateful. Very often you'd have dots or crosses or just a tennis ball on a stick to react to, so the fact that we actually had the soft cushioned shape of something alligator-like was a help. But it's just the nature of being an actor. You know that the CGI and the graphics and production design department, they come up with something amazing. What I didn't take on board is that, of course, he'd have these beautiful gold horns on top of his alligator sideways eyes. I love that. I've only seen the stills of it, but it looks amazing.
Your final moment in the episode is so powerful. I'll tell you, it brought tears to my eyes. On set, I imagine you're probably in front of a blue screen having to use your imagination. Tell me about capturing that emotion and how you and Kate Herron found that moment together?
The camera was on a big sort of jig crane thing that was at the highest section of the studio and I would follow a mark on that and they had, I think, three or four aircraft-sized wind machines blowing the Bajesus out of everything. And I thought, having wondered whether the helmets and the horns had to be quite so tight, I was grateful for them on that day because they did not move despite the amount of wind that was blowing at me. It was scripted to say, "He's laughing and shortly and cackling in the face of his own imminent, catastrophic death in the mouth of [Alioth]," it was very empowering to be able to just give it the full welly at doing that. So, I enjoyed that hugely.
You said you've only seen stills of Alligator Loki. Have you seen the episode yet?
No.
So, you haven't seen how the scene looks with all the CGI yet?
I've seen stills that I'm holding up the city, so I've seen that. I have never got used to watching myself on screen. I love watching other people, but when I come on, I just-- I'm astonished that I get any work. So, I've learned decades ago just to never watch. So, when you see a still, you don't have the horror of your shortcomings to mull over.
Well, I will tell you, you looked pretty bad ass in that moment.
Good. Thank you, John!
This seems like the end for Classic Loki, but if this series has taught us one thing, it's that Lokis survive. Do you think we could see him again someday? And are you down to play him again?
As you just said, everything's possible. But I think that's because his sacrifice is so huge and it's going out with such a bang, how do you top that if he had to come back? I have no idea. You know, it's not within my arena to do that. But I wouldn't say no, if asked. Put it that way.

What are your favourite moments in Teen Wolf?
You donât ask simple questions do you? I could only narrow it down to one scene from each season.  Rather than one huge post, I decided to split it into two:
FAVORITE SCENES: PART 1
Season 1: âLet me be as clear as possible. We. Are. Closed.â
I love this scene in Formality (1x11) not only because I think Deaton is an amazing character who was criminally underutilized in later seasons; I think scenes that should have been his were given to Stiles, Derek, Peter, and Chris Argent (I donât have to wonder what they have in common). Much more importantly, this is one of the few scenes in the show where someone protects Scott for no other reason but to protect Scott. Deaton has no agenda here. There isnât a secret plan from which he will benefit later. Thereâs a terrified teenage boy in the back room, and heâs going to defend him from someone he has to recognize is a significant threat. Thatâs it. Thatâs all.
Extremist fandom tries to twist the fact that Deatonâs focus was on Scott into some sinister agenda, because they canât believe someone wouldnât want to help Derek with his self-destructive manpain, Peter with his blood-soaked killing spree, or Stiles with his tedious insecurity. Deaton liked Scott and wanted to help Scott within the bounds he set for himself while respecting the boundaries set by others. Deaton may have believed that Scott had the potential to be a True Alpha, but he never pushed him in that direction. It was refreshing, especially since everyone else always helped with one yet toward their own benefit, and yes, I include Stiles living vicariously through Scott and Melissa pushing her own son to get himself killed so she can be comfortable with a werewolf for a son.
Season 2: âI donât want to be like them. I want to be like you.â
I love this scene in Ice Pick (2x03) because Boyd is the first person to recognize and state, without hesitation, that Scott is someone to be admired. Peter and Derek have scorned Scottâs insistence on valuing the lives of others; Jackson and Gerard never understood it; and Stiles made fun of it.  But Boyd watched Scott come here to warn him about taking the Bite, watched Scott refuse to flee when Derek warned him off, watch Scott fight Erica and Isaac to protect a person he had barely talked to before, and watch Scott getting his ass whupped by a sadistic Derek in a show of force. Boyd had already been Bitten, so the violence that Derek initiated was simply to show Scott his place. Boyd witnessed Scottâs conviction, his compassion, and his courage.
Extremist fandom tries to argue that Boyd would resent Scott falling to Gerardâs extortion and pretending to work with the elder Argent in order to trick him, but itâs hard for me to see that. Scott tried in this scene, in Abomination (2x04), in Venomous (2x05) to work with Derek  What other options did he have at that point? Boyd didnât get captured by the Argents or by the Alpha Pack because Scott worked with Gerard. Boyd got captured because Derek was an incompetent flop as an alpha. At least Scott had a plan to defeat his enemies, both Derek and Gerard.
Season 3A:Â â Okay. How do we approach a situation like this? Allison!â
I love this scene in Frayed (3x05) because it is the crisis point in Allisonâs life. Here is where she begins to reclaim her legacy, her family legacy, the Argent legacy, back from madness, bigotry, and murder. Here is where the Code begins to change because she begins to change it. She is trying to save Scottâs life and she canât thread the damn needle. Thereâs too much going on. Thereâs too many conflicting emotions -- her motherâs death, her love for Scott, her fear of powerlessness, of helplessness -- but she perseveres. She takes the lessons that she learned without knowing she was learning and she used them to save someone else.
Some people reject Victoriaâs attitude, even if it is a memory of Victoria, as emotionally aggressive, but I think it had to be. Allisonâs isnât calling upon only the good parts of her relationship with her family to help others; she has to draw on the darker parts as well. This is a theme of Teen Wolf, from âregression to the meanâ to âyou can find the clues that I canâtâ -- you canât separate life into neat little piles of good and bad and take only the ones you want. For Allison to draw on her familyâs legacy for strength, she has to take all of it and struggle to keep the darker parts from overwhelming her.
Season 3B:Â âOkay, then scream. Lydia, scream.â
I love this scene in Galvanize (3x15) for the same reasons I love the scene I just talked about, only this time the people grappling with their own abilities are Lydia and Stiles. Lydia can sense the approach of death and disaster, and she can access it through her scream, the traditional signifier of female emotional weakness, only now it is transformed into the key to her power. No one wants to hear people dying, but if she embraces it, if she makes it part of herself, she can do this. And all Stiles wants is to be make Lydia happy, to be a part of her life. He can see the clue in what she says -- that itâs on the tip of her tongue and makes her want to scream -- and he understands what heâs asking her to do. But he sees the connection, he knows what she wants, and he helps her move toward it. Itâs what he does; he connects the dots.
Scottâs in the background in this scene as well, and thatâs important. Heâs stated that they need to find Kira, but he doesnât demand. He doesnât push. He doesnât manage them. He has faith in Lydia and Stiles, and so he waits in the background for them to do what they need to do. Thatâs how the McCall Pack works and why itâs better than the Hale Pack. Scott doesnât order people around and determine their actions for them. he believes in them.
Youâll notice that none of these scenes are about shipping. I recognize the different types of relationship on the show, but I was never truly focused on them. Friends got me interested in exploring the relationships, but I was far more interested in Teen Wolf as a bildungsroman, where teenagers have to face that becoming an adult is difficult and it requires grappling with the darker aspects of your own (and otherâs) nature.
PART TWO.

I ask this both for Baron Dark, Ariandel and SkekSo !
Give me a character and I will answer: @ben-the-hyena
Oh boy a triple feature! :D Here we go, folks!
Under a read more cause its going to get long but each listed character will be split apart evenly!
First up is Baron Dark!
Why I like them: He is just bombastic in personality! He lives loud in his actions and words, participating in most of the action himself while also showing he is a threat and menacing altogether! I also like that he is one of the few villains that shows he cares for his crew as a âfamilyâ (at least for most part of the series before being overtaken with obsession to have power more on his own). Given the dynamic we are given from the show, its obvious he cares and treats them all on a level of respect as well, something so rare to see nowadays! And I also enjoyed that his reasons to take over and do the shit he did in the series, âBecause I can!â is just as refreshing and fun to see in a villain too! And again, his design is a top tier design I love overall! Its menacing, powerful, and outright amazing! Definitely adds to the character and how well he works in effect to keeping my attention! Like just look at that design! And his VA did a wonderful job of adding to that charm that is just delightful to see in his personality! Overall, he is totally a villain I would love to see more of in the future!
Why I donât: I say my dislikes often fall on the usual tropes of a kidâs show of the 90s. He talks too much when he could be doing things himself and falls victim to the typical âI am too powerfulâ but doesnât think of the obvious steps ahead that will be his downfall. But honestly, its so small I donât find it jarring or that bad to be in the way! It was the 90s and aimed at kids at the time, so we canât expect TOO much out of that xD
Favorite episode (scene if movie): Oh man, thatâs a tough one cause every scene/episode Baron is in he totally slays it! Its either a tie from the first episode to the very last one cause the stakes of start and finish are so well done, I love it all!Â
Favorite season/movie:Â Obviously, the TV series is the best version of him! The comics sucked and turned him too OOC from what was initially given! Like how does one go from point A to be Z so freaking fast? xD
Favorite line:Â âBecause I can.â Yeah, not gonna lie this was indeed my favorite line of his xD
Favorite outfit:Â Honestly, the outfit he gains near the end of the series is by far my favorite! Its like a mix of the Bejeweled Catacomb Saints and Mictlantechutli put in one and its befitting of the Baron given his gain in power!Â
OTP:Â Baron and Cyborn are my OTP and are married, fight me.Â
Brotp:Â Definitely Brotps with the rest of his henchmen though I see them more being like his adoptive children!Â
Head Canon: Baron is of indigenous background! I also like to headcanon that the white tuft/strands in his hair are truly his and have been there since birth! (I have so many more HCs for him but I will keep it short cause it can go all day xâ) )
Unpopular opinion:Â Donât think I have one, at the moment at least.Â
A wish:Â To have gotten more information/lore on him and the entire cast, honestly! I would have loved to see more of his character explored and what more he could have had to offer as a series main villain! Hell, the whole damn series had so much to offer! And just the relationships he has with the others and what more he could have done post season and before! So much potential there to be explored! I honestly would not be objecting to a reboot/revival or continuation of the series!Â
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: Though with that said, if a reboot does come around, donât turn it into the mess of current cartoons we have. Not that they are all bad but most of them have been very disappointing in keeping my attention and liking. Keep the same type of messages it had before! It worked beautifully as it did then and still does work now! Iâd love to see the same formulas used while also updating it to be more gritty and mature like they did for Castlevania! Just... Donât turn it into a cringe worthy mess that will ruin Baron and all the characters in the series! Donât do what the comics did!Â
5 words to best describe them:Â Charmingly evil, badass, fun, conniving bastard, and menacing.Â
My nickname for them: Mega dork (affectionately speaking)
Next is Ariandel!
Why I like them: Oh boy, there is a lot to say in terms of why I like him but I will try to keep it short and simple for time purposes! His design is top tier for me! Like a rotting skull like face? Check! A monstrous body much like a birdâs? Check! And to add he is a giant Corvian, which are one of my favorite enemies in Dark Souls III! His personality also differs from the usual loud, bombastic, and proud characters I tend to gravitate for. Instead, heâs withdrawn and rather sad to look at and hear. You know heâs going through a lot but donât know exactly what it is. In game, one can sort of get hints as to what has gone on behind the scenes but at the same time, its still vague and hard to really pinpoint what really did happen. So he has that air of mystery to him that I honestly adore in many characters as it leaves room to explore deeper into their lore! But I also find his personality relatable as well as sympathetic. But thatâs just me, I can gush about him all day but I will cut it short here xâ)
Why I donât: To be honest I don't have any reason not to like Ariandel other then the small fact that he followed Friede and let the Painted World rot in such a terrible state. But that is so minor of an issue to me to really make a difference, lol. I adore this giant bird man!
Favorite episode (scene if movie): I have to say the scene where he ultimately snaps and breaks out of binds after seeing Friede's lifeless body before him is my favorite scene of his. The amount of pain and anguish heard in his scream and the way he moves prior and after; I can very much relate to that feeling. Sometimes, actions truly convey the emotions better in the most powerful means necessary. And this scene alone truly nailed it.
Favorite season/movie: He's only ever seen in the Dark Souls III DLC, so obvious answer points to the DLC!
Favorite line: "When the Ashes are two, a flame alighteth. Thou'rt Ash, and fire befits thee, of course..."
Favorite outfit: Uhh, he doesn't really wear any clothes save for his cape? So I guess the cape does him well as he is, though I always draw him without it xD
OTP: To be honest, I don't ship him with any canon characters within Dark Souls. Friede does not deserve him..
Brotp: Ariandel being best friends with the Ashen One is my ultimate Brotp! Just think of how much of a valuable ally he could have been!
Head Canon: I know his origins are debatable, as either theory I have for him can be plausible but I often lean more towards the idea of him being half Giant and half Corvian! IDK why but I just like it a lot more xâ)
Unpopular opinion: While Ariandel is partly responsible for what happened to the Painted World, I still feel he was manipulated overall and probably at one point did have a change of heart before being forced into complete isolation. He plays more the role of the willing/unwilling accomplice then the actual perpetrator of the crime. Â
A wish: He could have had a happier ending without having to die for Friede. I know, its Dark Souls. Such a thing is expected to happen in the Soulsborne series but its a wish, right?Â
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen:Â That anything beyond the infatuation he had for Friede took place. Just.. No. He loved her but never could ever have her in that sense and never did. Just no, she is horrible to him.Â
5 words to best describe them:Â Sad, lonely, birdman, withdrawn, and tragic
My nickname for them: Papa bird
And lastly for skekSo!
Why I like them: I think its as obvious as the case for Baron Dark. I like evil, smug bastards that shine through their wickedness and don't usually hold back. In the case of skekSo, I actually didn't care for him at first but then after my second viewing of the show, I started to like him more and enjoy his villainy! He's selfish, arrogant, vain, and conniving and I love it! Added that his design is really appealing to the eye and how he carries himself out, I gotta say he's one of the few villain characters from a show that makes the turn around for me to like them instead of hate them more. Also, his voice. Can NOT go wrong with that voice cause DAMN, its good and shows just how powerful a villain can be with a voice like his. And those eyes. Oh man, those eyes!
Why I donât: Despite his villainy being the main point that caught my attention, its also a part of his downfall too. His constant greed and arrogance pushed him too far into doing what he did and ultimately cost him everything in the end; including loyal allies that end up dying for him in the long run. I hate how easily and quickly he changes his mind when actual logic is put into perspective of his plans and how quick he is to dismiss someone else when they don't please him anymore or things don't go his way for the smallest things. And yes, that is part of his character, I know that. That is what makes him as scummy as he is and why I love how trashy he is. But I also can't ignore just how easily he pushed skekVar away and believed skekSil despite knowing just what a lying bastard he is. IDK, it just feels too obvious but at the same time, it is what it is and I am not upset about it in the least x)
Favorite episode (scene if movie): Honestly, I enjoyed all the scenes with him in the show but mostly in particular with his interactions with skekVar, especially towards the end of the series. It showed a peak part of his vulnerability in his character that honestly I doubt he ever shows to anyone else. He spends most of his time pushing others around and making them fear him but with skekVar there is a sort of mutual respect going that really speaks out in a different way. Maybe I am just reading too much into it, but I always did enjoy how they interacted with one another!
Favorite season/movie: Well, skekSo didn't get much screen time in the movie other then him dying and turning to dust so.... Definitely enjoyed him more in the show then the film xD
Favorite line: "NOOOOO!" (Yes, this scene is still very infamous to me for personal reasons but the way he carried out his "no's" cracked me up each time xD)
Favorite outfit: Honestly, the main outfit he wore throughout the show. It's just so regal and goth, I love it! And as a goth and fashion enthusiast myself, I am all up for the style he has! The battle armor he wore near the end made it a tad more laughable to be honest.
OTP: I started shipping him with skekVar but ended up with an OT3 of skekVar and skekZok. So now all three of them live in a happy relationship with each other in my noodle~
Brotp:Â I see him being on neutral terms with skekMal!Â
Head Canon:Â I feel that even in the show it wasnât seen or given, but he did feel a lot of remorse and regret after the loss of skekVar. He seemed very close with him and spoke with skekVar with more trust then he did the others. Perhaps in secret he did mourn the Generalâs loss.Â
Unpopular opinion: Does this count as an unpopular opinion? I know most people see him with just a few strands of hair but I tend to see him with a head full of long flowing white locks he keeps hidden beneath his clothes. It adds to the extra layer of vanity for a proud Emperor such as he! He looses it over time the darkening consumes him and withers down his health.Â
A wish: To see what he was like as an urSkek prior to being split up into a Skeksis and urRu. Yeah, I know people don't care or like the urSkeks all that much but honestly, I would LOVE to see more urSkek lore and see what it was that made SoSu so special among his peers. It was said, after all, he had a voice that could move the stars but was conflicted and consumed with darkness. Honestly, I want to know why and who he was prior to all of this mess! SkekSo even says in the show he still has nightmares of the life before so I wonder, what they were and how it was! So much potential here, man!
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen:Â I donât think I have any of these to be honest? At least with skekSo. Not that I can think of on top of my head now.Â
5 words to best describe them:Â Proud, absolute piece of shit, pretty, conniving, and menacing.Â
My nickname for them: Stupid idiot

Helluva Boss Trailer Analysis!
Yes, I watch this. Yes, I like it. No, I wonât argue with you about it.
Now that thatâs out of the way, letâs just say that I was up when the trailer dropped, and was still up for a bit after. Iâve watched it so many times now, just absorbing everything, and now itâs time to break it down.
Iâve seen a few breakdowns already, but I noticed that there were a few things people hadnât mentioned. So Iâm tossing my hat in the ring, letâs see if we can figure out what Vivziepop has in store for us!
Iâll be breaking down by scene, as well as go over voiceovers and predictions real quick, so prepare for a read after the cut!
Ok, first, had to laugh at Millieâs Peppermint Vodka Molotov Cocktail. Creative, but what a waste of vodka :( The background is of a beach, but sheâs not in beach clothes (letâs face it, a bikini would probably kill Moxxie)
Moxxie is shooting at something while heâs swinging from a rope in a deserted theater. Piano on the floor, and a sun pattern on the back wall
BlitzÞ (thanks for the copy/paste, Google) cleaving a blonde in half with a baseball bat. Damn, he stronk!
Diss Summarâ, with the little doodles! So cute :3
Drunk/drugged/in shock Moxxie, poor Millie, and something big bursting out from the water behind. Tied to first scene?
Stolasâ âSpecial Accessâ bit from the Sneak Peeks, talking about the Harvest Moon festival in Wrath
Moxxie and BlitzÞ in a green lit room, looks like a two-way mirror on the wall. Interrogation?
Correction to âDiss Seasonâ XDÂ Hopefully that means weâll get an episode before spring, but if they need more time, thatâs understandable
Glammed up Stolas at some kind of burlesque, owned by Asmodeus âOzzieâ, Prince of Hellâs Lust circle. Wonder why heâs there...
CHERUBS!!! Also from the Sneak Peeks, we know that this is a commercial, and that the TV showing said commercial gets blown up a few seconds later
Angry BlitzĂž, probably yelling at Moxxie, being scared shitless by a hellhound behind him. I think this is a repo/impound/chop-shop guy who took IMPâs van, as in a later scene, theyâre shown in a fence with other cars, especially because BlitzĂž yells âRUNâ at the end of the scene
Loona and BlitzĂž filming someoneâs misery (again, probably Moxxie). Theyâre in western outfits, but theyâre probably still in Hell
Tentacle wrapping around drugged Moxxie and taking him, too fast for Millie to react and stop it. Again, looks like itâs tied to the first and fifth scenes
Sassy BlitzÞ, probably talking to the repo-hellhound or punching-bag Moxxie. Same setting as scene 11
BlitzĂž running to the window of what looks like a recording studio, with âVMâ spray painted on the doors next to him. He looks distraught, but itâs not clear why
Recently choked-out Moxxie recovering, while being frame by a spiny-tailed Imp wearing what I assume is a serape, since it looks like theyâre on the ranch Loona and BlitzĂž cheered a poor soul, scene 12
DEPRESSED BIRD DADDY. WHY ARE YOU SAD??? IS IT GONNA MAKE ME SAD??? OH NO IâM NOT READY unless its a flashback, but stilllll
Perturbed BlitzĂž holding his special flintlock in a western-themed room. Looks like he has his outfit from scene 12 on, probably the same episode, but whatever happened/is going to happen, itâs not good
Dressed-up Moxxie, who probably jumped bombed a performance, is upstaged by Robo Fizz and most likely a Robo Ozzie, given the designs on itsâ head(s). He looked uneasy even before the Robos popped up, so something else was going on first.
Scaley eye blinking and getting MAD, attached to the tentacle that kidnapped Moxxie?
50% off add for Spring Break victims, complete with coffee stain, and BlitzĂžâs horse doodles. I got a mental image of Moxxie scolding BlitzĂž for drawing at work, so he BSâd it into an ad.
Either BlitzĂž is a terrible driver, or theyâre trying to speed away from someone. Repo-hound, maybe?
HUMAN!!! Almost definitely a human pop-star singing on a Coachella-esque stage! I tried to fill in her name, but could only get ideas of what some letters were. Her initials are most likely VM, from the recording studio scene, but the bottoms of some letters could be an E or L, K or R, so weâre left with V~(L/E)(K/R)OSI(K/R)A MA~~. It also looks like sheâs wearing heels, so she may be the person who threw BlitzĂž in a later scene
Moxxie about to be trampled by what can only be a horse, given his outfit. Loona and BlitzÞ are probably filming XD
Shocked Stolas, standing up at table. Same outfit as the burlesque, but he doesnât looked surprised enough that itâs the part where Moxxie is upstaged, more something emotionally jarring. BlitzĂž kissing someone else, maybe?
BlitzĂž pushing Moxxie out of the way and pinning him just outside a Hell portal in an alley, most likely Earth. BlitzĂž looks mad, and rightly so, as heâs looking a little beat up himself. Connected to the interrogation scene?
Happy BlitzĂž turns horrified outside some elevators with Moxxie. Judging by the water cooler in the back, I think heâs about to slam into the recording studio. Behind him, Moxxie gives no shits
BlitzÞ looking miffed, maybe at something Moxxie said. Looks like the same scene with the repo-hound, as the setting itself looks like an impound lot, with the IMP van smack-dab in the middle of it. I love that the license plate is IMP-666 though
Unhappy BlitzĂž (ok, letâs be honest, when IS he happy?)
Moxxie swinging Millie around in the deserted theater, passionately frenching each other
BlitzĂž getting pushed down by a horned, high-heeled... someone. Again, might be the pop star from earlier, but thereâs horns... Maybe the pop star is human-passing, and has an alternate demonic form, like the Hazbin Hotel cast?
Western-clad BlitzĂž pulling his flintlock on someone, most likely before scene 18. Most definitely Hell, judging by the poster and previous scenes, but Iâm digging the dĂ©cor
BlitzĂž not getting a break at all during this trailer and being yeeted into a dumpster, which closes on him. Gonna take a stab and say itâs outside the burlesque Stolas and Moxxie were in, from the colors and posters of Lust Ring, Personal Companion Robo-Fizz, and Angel Dust.
The next scene is of him climbing out of a dumpster to fall into another pile of trash. He just doesnât get a break, does he? It doesnât look like the dumpster outside the burlesque, but it is similar to the alley with the hell portal, where BlitzĂž pinned Moxxie. Maybe not the same scene, but most likely same episode.
Editor being absolutely plastered, teasing all the fun stuff to come in 2021, since 2020 can go f*ck itself.
And thatâs a really in-depth breakdown of all the scenes in the trailer! Now, for the voiceovers.
First, Loonaâs asking if anyone âCan feel that?â. Interesting thing to ask, so weâll have to wait and see what catastrophe happens
Millie gently yelling at Moxxie to âDONâT PANICâ
A calm voice announcing an elevatorâs departure to the Lust circle of Hell, which is most likely where the burlesque and Robo scenes are. As to who is going, itâs either Stolas or the IMP crew, or maybe both?
Horny Stolas cooing âOh, Blitzy!â, followed by Loonaâs âSHUT THE F*CK UPâ from the Loo Loo Land episode. Finally, I have a high-res clip I can set as my ringtone!
BlitzĂž yelling âDammit, Moxxie, this is all your fault!â, which may or may not be true since he scapegoats Moxxie, who replies âHow is this my fault???â
Pop star asking, âYâall ready to get f*cked up and make some b*tchinâ bad choices?â. Itâs most likely her talking, since the her lips synch up with her scene, and itâs a new voice we havenât heard before.
Moxxieâs cut off âM*THERF*CKER!!!â. So happy I get to hear Invader Zim go off, poor boy needs it XD
BlitzĂž being BlitzĂž and trying to tone down a big deal, stating again that he doesnât pry into their personal lives, even though he obvious does (see Helluva Boss Pilot for more)
Robo Fizzâs line from Loo Loo Land asking if anybody loved BlitzĂž. Iâm gonna be honest and say that line choked me up in Loo Loo Land, and so did BlitzĂžâs response, until âBut Iâm really good with guns now. DANCE, B*TCH!â
Moxxie ending with âThat is deeply unsettlingâ, again from Loo Loo Land. Throwing shade on Helluva Boss haters, maybe? :3
All right, now, predictions!
Chaos in a theater, with focus maybe on Millie and Moxxieâs relationship, maybe an origin story? It wonât be the only one, with the tentacle beach monster and drugged Moxxie bits, so we can expect a lot of story and character development from the two of them.
Farm episode! BlitzĂž either drags them onto a farm, or thereâs a client who invites them, but sh*t will happen.
Really excited to see what happens in the Lust ring, and for the return of Robo Fizz! Baby boy only got a few minutes of screen time, but is currently my favorite character.
Repo episode of rescuing the IMP van, probably resulting in overall team building and character development. I really want to see Loona tear a new one into that *sshole-looking hellhound, though.
Pop star episode! Really excited to meet this new character, I wonder what her name is and how close I was XD Either BlitzĂž and Moxxie break into her recording studio to meet her, or sheâs a client, but weâll see!
Trapped on Earth/Run in with Earth authorities episode? That interrogation room didnât exactly look Hellish, and they obvious meet some kind of resistance while on Earth that looked like it was gonna get messy...
Stolas episode! Please please please be flashback and story, I loved Loo Loo Land but really want some more lore and development on his character and maybe relationship with BlitzĂž. Bird obviously needs to work through some things, and I really want to watch him grow, ever since I saw him struggle to tell Octavia why he was cheating. Him stuttering and ultimately being unable to find a reason why really hit home, and Iâm glad it was something they included since in media, itâs always âWell, sheâs really uglyâ or âI donât love him anymoreâ. He still has feelings for his wife, but wanted to f*ck BlitzĂž too.
Even without the trailer, we do know that weâre getting episodes focusing on CHERUB and a Harvest Moon festival, but still. Thereâs so much content Vivzie and Co have been working hard to make, and I canât wait to see what they have in store for us. Dark comedy aside, thereâs so much story they can make just around these four characters, following their growth and happenings around Hell. Itâs such a cool premise and one that hasnât been washed and worn so many times, like cop or murder shows, and I can see this going on for quite a bit.
Well, hereâs to an exciting 2021! Thank you for all your hard work, Vivizepop, keep it up!

Just watched the episode and Iâm going to have a lot of thoughts for you, most of them probably bordering on incoherence (LOL) so this is your last chance to nope on out of this post because Iâm going to go ahead and put everything else behind a cut to save the eyes that do not want to see any spoilers at all. Unlike mine, that very much wanted to see but in a lot of cases? Could not see shit, but I digress.
Shaeâs stream of consciousness coming at you in 3-2-1. Â
First of all, can I saw how good it is to have my show back again? Like, no. I donât quite have Season 5 levels of excitement about the new/last season, but it is definitely nice to have all these characters back. Â
So all these thoughts of mine. Okay. Bear with me because there be a whole lot of them, lol. Â
My immediate impression as the episode opened was WHOA. Such a cool shot of Daryl with one light wing, one dark wing (representing the two sides to Daryl maybe--the man of honor versus the man he was raised to be, hmm?) looking out over some dark vista of something. Seriously. Itâs dark. My room is also dark at the moment and still I was squinting to see. To make out what Iâm âlookingâ at. I really, really hope the rest of this season isnât this hard to make out. Â
Is that a tank? Kinda sorta a callback to Rickâs first episode? If so, cool. If not, well. Us fans have always put way more thought into things. For real. Change my mind. Â
Holy intense eye contact, Batman! Daryl Dixon has literally never looked at anyone--not BethusConLeah--in quite the same smoldering way as he looks at Carol. Itâs next level. I donât know why people be fooling themselves into thinking different. Â
Letâs see. I can make out--besides Daryl, Maggie, and that face mask dude I already forgot the name of--Kelly, Magna, Jerry (whoâs that with him?), and Carol. Sorry. My world, like Darylâs, inevitably narrows to Carol. Sheâs loking fierce and fine AF per usual. Â
Was that Rosita I noticed rewinding to relive Daryl eye-fucking Carol? Â
Iâm guessing this is the army base they talked about in 10C. Â
That Walker perking up like âI smell food--pancakes and bacon and oohhhhâ has me giggling inappropriately right off the bat. WTF. Â
Look at all my fabulous ladies tiptoeing through that Walker minefield. And Carol spotting that gun that might be useful right away. Listen, if you donât think her mind ainât always ten steps ahead of everybody elseâs, youâd be wrong. Â
So. Are these Walkers just so old and feeble not even the call of fresh meat attracts them? Because just tiptoeing through their midst without the knockoff Lady Gaga meatsuits or skin masks has never really worked before that I can remember. Â
I just want to see most of this season. Is that really too much to ask? Donât X-Files and Game of Thrones us, Angela. Please and thank you very fucking much. Â
Okay. Is the one drop of blood thing making anybody else have 28 Days Later vibes? Kinda? Sorta? No? Just me? Okay then. Carry on. Â
Wait a minute, though. How they be explaining how Daryl keeeps acquiring all these new tats all the time? Hmm? Itâs like they just quit giving a shit about continuity in these latter seasons. Â
I mean. Do Walkers sleep now? LMAO. What is this? I guess theyâre constantly evolving? Â
Thereâs my baby Lydia. Love my smol bean. Â
Alright though. I love to see the ladies of TWD kick some ass. Itâs very gratifying. Gimps would never. Thank you, Angela. Â
Clever, resourceful, calm and collected, quick thinking Carol to the rescue! Seriously. Her haters must be withering away inside with absolute envy. Â
Hey, yaâll. Remember when Carol was still mastering her sharpshooting skills at the Prison yard and shot at Rickâs feet? Her little âsorry, sorryâ? LOL. If Rick could only see her now. Wait. He already knew what so many of his stans refuse to acknowledge--Carol=ultimate survivor and true savior to the group many times over. Â
Maggieâs got herself a gun, too. Go my badass girls. Â
Of course, Carolâs got everybodyâs back. Of fucking course, Darylâs got hers even when everybody else seem frozen in some kind of awe or stupification or something. Microcosm of the whole damn show right there. Â
Carolâs like âhereâs your knives, love of my life.â Â
Eh. Maybe thatâs just me. Â
Nah. Sheâs totally thinking it, too. Â
YAS! YAS! Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride with the top billing. How very far my babies have come. Â
Listen. I miss all the characters weâve lost. Absolutely. But I love the ones that are still with us, that have been with us for so very long so hard. Whether I love their stories or decisions or not. Â
Is that THE Alexandria sign? That signâs been through some shit. Â
DOG! Daryl kneeling to embrace our Grimes babies has me all up in my feels. And how cute is Dog getting all excited and making sure heâs the first one there to welcome back, Daddy? Â
Hershel is literally just as puppy dog cute as Glenn ever was. Really some Grade A casting. Â
What did Maggie call Mr. T? Ducky? Dougie? Sometimes with Maggie? I really cannot tell. Anyway. Heâs Mr. T. for me until I find out differently, probably through rewatching with close captioning, lol. Â
Maggieâs got more people. So. Some new redshirts to sacrifice for plot purposes. I donât know if I should bother learning their names or not.Â
I seem to remember Meridian being mentioned in one of the episode synopses. Â
Sophiaâs hair tie around Carolâs neck will never fail to be an emotional throat punch. My heart. Â
âThey come at night and by the time you see them, youâre already dead.â Welp. Guess that means we ainât seeing shit for at least this first third of the season, lol. Very horror-eque though. Â
âYouâre leaving to fight ghosts.â Aaron, to Maggie. So I see Aaronâs the type to get the hell outta Dodge when the Boogeyman comes calling, hahaha. Least he was. In the old world. Â
Rositaâs pissed off expression at Gabeâs decision to volunteer for the so-called suicide mission gives me life. Â
My baby Carol is tired AF of suicide missions. You can tell. Also? Methinks she has something to prove to Daryl here. Or at least feels like she does. Â
Dog with his little tactical vest. I love it. Â
I guess I get why they had Carol and Rosita stay behind. They had to more evenly split up the badassery to make things more fair and balanced, lol. Â
Okay. So Neganâs definitely earned everybodyâs disdain. But theyâre being woefully short-sighted by not at least hearing the dude out. Isnât he at least native to the area? Â
âThat is God telling us to turn around.â Iâm actually on Neganâs side with this one, but Gabe answering him with âIâm pretty sure he would have run that past me firstâ has me howling with laughter. Father Gabe has gone straight up savage in these last couple of seasons. Rositaâs influence, perhaps? Â
I see what Angela is doing. Trying to make Negan the voice of reason. In this particular case? Itâs kind of working. Iâm still ultimately on Maggieâs side with this though BECAUSE GLENN. Â
Imagine showing up to work and unironically dressing like a storm trooper every day. Excuse me while I LOL. Â
Even in the ZA, thereâs bullshit paperwork. Â
âPumpkin colored spacesuit.â Good one, Ezekiel. Â
LOL forever. I love Princess. Â
âMichonne. Our Michonne shut people out of Alexandria for years.â Timely reminder that choices arenât always perfect. Neither are people. Â
WTF is reprocessing? Sounds ominous. LMAO at Eugeneâs âOkay. We gotta go.â Â
What in the actual hell with all those bagged, squirming undead? Creepy AF in that subway tunnel. Â
Should I just go ahead and call that the Easter bunny? Weâve had some version of it pop up since Season 1. Â
Is it stubborn pride with Maggie or what? Why go through with something when all signs point toward the wisdom of stopping? You can argue that sheâs acting similarly to Carol last season, but thereâs a huge difference here folks. Carol did her damndest to Lone Wolf that shit and minimize the danger to those she loved. Maggieâs straight up enlisting those she âcares aboutâ to carry out her mission of revenge or vengeance, what have you. Letâs see if she gets near the amount of hate for it. Personally, I donât blame her for her feelings one bit. They are valid. But her knowingly drawing the others into the game? Thatâs my sticking point. Thatâs how she and Carol differ, even if some people refuse to see or accept it. Anyway. Hopping right on off my soapbox. Â
âWhy donât you get up on your little tippy toes and try?â Omigosh, Iâd dying. When I tell you I about passed out with laughter, I do not exaggerate. I should hate Negan forever and I do. Really. But I adore JDM and he frequently makes me LOL. Heâs made Negan entertaining if not completely redeemable since Angela took over and more layered so I say kudos. Â
He has a point about Maggie playing dictator. Damn you, show, for slanting the writing just that smidgen that makes Negan make sense over his victim. I guess, though, itâs better this way. Gives both characters more shades of gray. Â
âHeâs a dick but he makes sense.â I feel like this is Angela calling us all out when we dare to harbor any lasting resentment toward Negan for what he did to Glenn. Â
Speaking of--Negan. You deserved Darylâs punch to the mouth. You just went a bridge too damn far. Â
âKeep pushing me, Negan. Please.â Warning shots fired, Asshole. You better watch yourself around the Widow Rhee. Â
Have I mentioned how much I love Princess? Her shipping the Commonwealth guards is killing me, lol. I canât wait âtil she meets Carol and Daryl. Sheâs going to have their number in two seconds flat. Â
I like Ezekiel and Princess as a duo. Iâm not saying romantically necessarily. I just like them in scenes together because theyâre fun. Thereâs sort of a protective indulgence Ezekiel seems to telegraph whenever theyâre in scenes together. Like heâs like donât hurt this one. I donât know. For all these words Iâve written, I canât quite find the ones to adequately describe what I mean. Â
The wall of the lost gives me such Battlestar Galactica feels. What sad thoughts it inspires. Â
Eugene in that Commonwealth gear. Omigosh, lol. So did they just sneak up and take Princessâs little Commonwealth shipâs gear when they were sneaking off on their own to have a quickie? Â
Princess finding that note for Yumiko on the wall actually gave me chills. Yeah. Iâm easy. Just the suggestion of someone getting reunited with lost family gets me all up in my feels. Yumiko saying âI have to stayâ? I felt that. Â
Oh no. Dog ran off! Somebody protect my favorite fictional puppy. Of course, Daryl goes after him. Heâs always been the sweet one. Merle said it. Â
Eh. Negan taking Maggieâs hand at the end there would have smacked too much of Negan Sue and Maggieâs biggest plot of the season would have been prematurely dealt with so I get why they did what they did. But câmon. Itâs not really that big of a cliffhanger, is it? Â
Okay, so Angela calls those sleeping beauty Walkers âLurkersâ and I get it. Apparently theyâre a bigger deal in the comics, but I really donât remember seeing them all that much on the actual show. Somebody jog my memory. Â
Of fucking course, you can actually see whatâs happening in the inside the episode clips. I wish we could choose to view the episode with that lighting because some of us be blind. And this time I mean in the more literal sense. Not the figurative one. Â
Anyway. Iâm going to stop trying to write a novel for yaâll and move on to better things. Like maybe a nap. Maybe some early dinner. I donât know. Iâm tired AF and need a little recharge.  Â
Before I go, though? Overall impression of the episode? I liked it. There were parts that I loved (all the ladies being badass, every second of Carol, Daryl reuniting with the Grimes babies and Dog, all things Princess, some of Neganâs one-liners about had me busting a gut, Rosita serving looks, Kelly and Lydia getting to be badass too) and parts I didnât love (not being able to see a damn thing, Angela trying to tip the scales in Neganâs favor, not enough Carol or Aaron or Rosita, no reunion between Aunt Carol and the Grimes babies even though that picture floating around suggests it was at least shot, not being able to see a damn thing, all the Alexandria people playing follow the leader for Maggie when sheâs been gone 6 years and Darylâs right there--hell, even Father G deserves the honor over her because itâs obvious theyâre not exactly on the same wavelength anymore). Â
I donât know about anybody else, but Iâm just glad to have our show back.   Â
Later, lovelies. Â

how about simmons for the character ask? or someone else from red team? or spencer porkensenson. or all of them if you want! :o)
For the character ask! I did Grif here! Please feel free anyone to ask more, I LOVE DOING THESE! Also thank you so much Mikey, this is a really thoughtful ask ;-;! I would do all, but that'd be WAY too long. So, Simmons!
Why I like them: Simmons is not only relatable as fuck with his social awkwardness and sass, but also in an odd way, comforting? Like he's nerdy and all that, but also chaotic and just. Emotionally fucking damaged all the time. yet he's more vocal with being nice and caring and showing his emotions. I just, I want to hug him? Like, he deserves so much, seeing that he always searches for affection and puts up with Grif's shit. I think what draws me to him most is just his growth through the series - from just nerd who'd sacrifice everything to get on top to... absolute fucking leader that does the right and logical thing most of the time and comes up with the BEST plans? DID YOU HEAR HIM TALK TO TEMPLE LIKE THAT? LIKE BRO, THIS BRAVE MOTHER- i mean, he's even gotten way better at talking about his insecurities, it warms my heart!
Why I donât: LOL. hm. sometimes it just seems like he's filler? I wish he had more parts. Lol yes, my thing i don't like about him is that he isn't well used in the show SOMETIMES LOL
Favorite episode (scene if movie): Mm. I don't know. There's so many good simmons moments... I'd probably say that Room Zero is way up there, and Brick Gulch. Simmons plays big roles in those. Also the episodes where he goes Blue-- those are always SO fun. Hm. The one in the cave, the episodes with his recruits on Chorus, when he was gunning down all the Wyomings, the episode at Rat's Nest, the episode where him and grif meet. The one in S10 where he rides up next to Grif with the orchestral music. OH, where Sarge and Grif rescue him and Doc! And of course the end of s15--
Favorite season/movie: Probably s7-8 (just with him going 'OH FUCK WLECOMETOTHENEIGHBORHOOD" won me over, also he was a poor fucking meow those seasons), and s15 because there is so many Simmons moments. Although I will say BGC Simmons was... hrk. Fine. BGC Simmons. all of him. esp the scene where grif tricks him abt the tank, and when he gets called tomato can LOL
Favorite line: oh, fuck. god. i dont know!!!!!!!!!! "Greetings websurfers--" JKJK -- I literally can't think of any right now that are like, all time favorites. Once again, I do like "OHFUCK WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBOR HOOD"... there's also, uh "WAHT THE FUCK IS THIS PAST TENSE BULLSHIT?!" and "hah, take that! Suck it Blue- I mean Red! Suck it, Blue-uh, damn! Red! God, this is harder than I thought..." Bascically, anything where Simmons fucks up his words due to nerves or has a breakdown
OTP: answered in the Grif one, but Grimmons!
Brotp: Simmons and Caboose/Donut. CMON. He's got SUCH big brother energy? Like, PLEASE. Also I NEED MORE SIMMONS AND KAI INTERACTION!?!?!?!?
Head Canon: Simmons is an animal magnet. Cats LOVE him, dog LOVE him. He's particularly fond of hamsters and guinea pigs
Unpopular opinion: IDK... uh. i think most of my opinions are popular! simmons isn't REALLY a red head, he's got more of a browner auburn hair?
A wish: everyone wishes this but more knife simmons !!!!!
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: it already happened it was the simmons labryinth
5 words to best describe them: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (cries) (sucks up) (feral)
My nickname for them: sim. rich. :3
#rvb#dick simmons#red vs blue#simmons#my asks#ask#asks#thank you mike!!!#this was so fun to rant about!#character ask

Ducktales Shadow Into Light (Lena Restrospective) Finale!: Lena In Season 3! (Commission for WeirdKev27)
Hello all you happy people and welcome to the FINAL part of my look at the life and times of Lena Sabrewing. Itâs been a long and satsifying journey through the characterâs rich arc and some of Ducktales 2017âČs best episodes. Lena started as a tourtured but complacient teen willing to do bloody awful evil things if it meant her freedom, who through the power of love and friendship realized what she was doing wrong, that she loved Webby and turned on Magica... and after a brief stint of this going horribly wrong a magica simply just bodyjacked her, she sacrificed herself for Webby he story seemingly done. Of course it wasnât, Disney woudlnât let them kill a teenager... fully grown lion men horrifcally decaying indiana jones style yeah, of course itâs disney, but killing a teen is where they draw the line. Point is Lena was merley trapped in the shadow realm with a bunch of those guys Yugi beat and with the help of everyoneâs faviorte stoic hummingbird, freed Lena. Lena found new family in Violet.. but also found dying is easy but living is harder and had to wrestle with both her fears of turning out like Magica and Magica herself who naturally was gaslighting her to try and get the last scraps of her power back. We also took a detour or two to see where she came from: looking at both Minima De Spell and her rivalry with a 34 year pretending to be a small child, and Magicaâs Shadow whose like Lena except almost nothing like Lena. We also took a look at her one comic apperance which was never released here for some reason and was incredibly disapointing.Â
So yeah iâts been one long, fun ride filled with gay subtext, launchpadâs spider sense, giant legs, movie refrences from warriors to jaws to nightmare on elm street 3: the dream warriors, toddlers who look and probably are 34, launchpad apparently huffing enough paint to damage his brain as thatâs the only way to explain the terror of the terrafirmains subplot and gay subtext. Iâve enjoyed every step of the way so before I take the last one of those steps, iâd like to thank all of ya for reading this. Iâve gained at least 10 if not more followers off this series alone and I appricate all of you. Iâd also like to thank Kev for directly comissioning this, keeping me in work and in x-men comics since 2020.Â
As you can probably guess by the title.. this oneâs a bit different. This is a combination of two things: The first is that i already reviewed âThe Phantom and the Sorceressâ when I was reviewing each episode of Season 3 as it came out. My thoughts have not changed at all so I felt redoing that review would be redudant and a waste of Kevâs money. The same goes for Split Sword, which has the extra issue of being a three story episode with only one of the parts starring the focus of this retrospective. The second is while she shows up about the same amount as season 2, her apperances in season 3 outside of her Christmas Cameo are all more substaial outside of her two starring roles. Both COTHJSW and The Last Adventure shed some more light on our faviorite shadow and feel like natural evolutions of her character so it felt wrong to just flat out ignore them.Â
So rather than do a full review of the episodes iâm just going to go into Lenaâs apperances for Season 3. This way I can cover Phantom again without fully repeating myself, and fully track the last steps Lena takes as the series closes out in a fresh and hopefully enjoyable way. So join me under the cut for one last step into the shadows as we finish bringing Lena into the light.Â
Challenge of the Senior Junior Woodchucks!
Challenge was one of the very first Ducktales I ever talked about on here, alongside Quack Pack, so itâs quite a trip returning to it a year later, even if iâts just my memories of it. Itâs also an excellent episode, with a great and engaging main plot and a âitâs just kind of thereâ subplot.Â
Itâs also one of the only three episodes to focus on Violet, and one of only two that focuses just on her and not on Lena in any way. It is a shame: While I love Lena as a character, I wouldnât of just spent several weeks talking about her if I wasnât getting paid for this retrospective or not, Violet is equally intriguing and so iâll be taking a second out to talk about her as I really HAVENâT gone into her character this retrospective and given how important she is to Lena and to all of us, most Lena fans like Violet just as much and vice versa. Iâll still be talking about Lena in this episode, obviously, but I feel her sister from two misters deserves some time in the spotlight too as the show only gave her three episodes, and one was more focused on Webby and Lena by design and the other weâll get to.Â
Violet is an excellent character. She speaks well and with little emotion but thatâs just how she is and sheâs never called out for it or insulted, something I like. Likewise she dosenât judge others, never really batting an eye at the rest of the groups own quirks and at most being freaked out by leg huey a bit. Sheâs just a kind, curious, intellgent young lady.Â
And this episode shows that off: We get to see her in the spotlight of her own, every bit the Woodchuck Huey is and more, but still supporting and encouring him, seeing their contest as a friendly one and putting no stakes into it as sheâs failed before, she can fail again. What matters is she get back up and keep going. Her ârazzingâ is also just downright adorable, and nicely shows off her and Lenaâs new dynamic: theyâve gone from friends to siblings, something really not shown off last time and something that wasonât confirmed on screen till now but it just works naturally, the cool and collected but chaotic underneath that lena just plays perfectly off the uttelry calm and deadpan violet. Itâs a natural, perfect dynamic that they clearly had mapped out from the beggining and simply had to build up to that.Â
Her genuine shock at Hueyâs betryal... hurts the heart, as she genuinely thinks itâs her fault and not just my boy having a panic attack and doing something questionable. But it also shows her character.. when givne the same opprunity and no guilt for it, he struck first.. she dosenât. She saves him because itâs the right thing to do and shows Huey she really is the bettter woodchuck.. but htereâs no shame in it. Itâs okay to fail, what matters is you keep trying. And as a result despite giving Huey the opporunity to win with her.. he turns it down. She gets a deserved win, celebrating with her family and just wearing the most adorable smile. She also just has.. buckets of chemistry with Huey. I mean it was apparent to me with the whole Library Scene in Nightmare but god damn do they ramp it up with this one. They just contrast each other perfectly here, the handshake is adorable and he clings to her.. while also being hilarious âI naturlaly defer to authority!â. I will take this ship to my grave, and fully support it... that being said if you ship Huey/Boyd or all three togehter, go for it man. I do the latter sometimes. Your good. You didnât need me to tell that but sometimes shipping discorse can get downright ugly so rather than make it a war between two ships, I just wanted to offer an olive branch for once you know? Same with Weblena. I obviously adore that ship but if you have a non-boys ship with her, thaâts cool too. Ship what you want to.. iâm just doing me through this retrospective.Â
Now back to Lena. Her apperance in this episode is really heartwarming and really nice after all the shit sheâs been through. This is the first episode sheâs in where NOTHING bad happens to her. No really, every apperance, even her two cameos had her suffer in some way. She spent the entire first season grappling with Magica, and her season 2 apperances trapped in a shadow dimension and nearly loosing her girlfriend to her own jealously, horrifically stalked by her abuser using her own self doubt against her, attacked by a literal tempest in a tea pot and captured by aliens. The girl has not gone one friggin onscreen break since the series started and probably not many off it either.Â
Here? She just gets to cheer her little sister, proudly celebrating both her and her new dads. She gets to teach her sister to trash talk, even if that ends up backfiring a bit but she meant well. And she gets to celebrate with her family when her little sister wins. Itâs all small stuff.. but itâs all things sheâs NEVER had. A sibling to be proud of and support. Dads to sit with and go places with. A family to celebrate things with. This is all pretty normal stuff, but not something everyone gets to have and something Lena NEVER had even remotely. But now sheâll ALWAYS have that. A supportive loving family to give her a place to belong, and to support in turn. After a nightmarish 14-15 years of existance, sheâs FINALLY allowed to just be happy without having to fight a giant monster first.Â
Sheâs finally made it, sheâs hoped and sheâs waited, for the first time in her life she dosenât feel alone. Her hearts started to heal, to know this is real, this is how it feels.. to have a home. Yes I havenât given up on that song. And if you think this is the last time iâm going to quote a song you clearly didnât read the review I did of the next episode.Â
The Phantom and the Sorceress:
Season 3âČs primary focus outside of the FOWL plot was tying up loose ends. Pretty much every major recurring episode outside of Fethry got an episode tying up their character arc and of course Lena was no exception.
Youâd think with Magica no longer a threat to her and having fully accepted sheâs a good person now, and having found a place to belong that Lena was done. But while she accepted her past, that sheâs not magica, and that she deserves to be happy.. she never accepted Magic as part of her despite being made of it and thatâs what this episode ties up as well as the mystery of the blue aura that surronded her magic at times.Â
The episode starts with Lenaâs amulet, which she has back now which is the only part of this episode I donât like as they donât really explain why sheâd take it back from Violet. But her magic keeps goofing up and making Sleepovers dangerous, and gets Scrooge grousing about how magic is bad.. only to naturally backpedal when an angry Webby points out Lena is magic. He does amend things and genuinely apologize for it, having not meant her at all and not even thinking of her as part of his hatred of the stuff. It also shows why Lena likely didnât take him up on his offer.. with her self loathing still going she probably thought he was just pitting her and would always resent her.. when really he just geninely did not care despite his overwhelming hate of magic. It worked out granted, she found a better fit for her family wise.
But Lena hates it too.. and while she hasnât fully brought it up before it makes perfect sense: We saw how she viewed it as dangerous and not worth the risk to bring her back in Friendship Hates Magic and Magic has brought her nothing but pain, nearly killing her on several occasions, allowing magica to fuck with her head or directly control her and general putting the one person she cares about more than anyone in harms way. She hates what she is.. because itâs brought her nothing but pain and misery. She has ever reason to resent it..
Yet this episode is about forcing her to accept it.... to realize that Magic is part of who she is, and that itâs not inherently good or bad, itâs all about the intent of who uses it. Her last two uses of it were not made with any malice and in fact using it to pull her friends into her dreams allowed her to break free of Magica.Â
And itâs perfectly done by giving her a new enemy, something I REALLY wish tehyâd done with Fenton at some point, but get why it took this long with Lena: The Phantom Blot. The Phantom Blot, like many characters in this series is HEAVILY redone: he keeps the iconic look and threat level but instead of being an operatic supervillian, heâs an anti-villian with a link to magic he never really had before. He works with FOWL sure but itâs likely because unlike the rest of FOWL he actually agrees with Bradfordâs goal for a less chaotic world and his desire to wipe out magic is perfectly in line with that.Â
Heâs also given a backstory that perfectly parallels him with Lena: Both were created by Magica in a way and horribly abused by her: Lena mentally and phsycially, and Blot by having to suffer under her rule after he took over her family and then barely survivie as she wiped out his villiage, his family and his normal life swearing vengance on her. LIke Lena magica didnât care about him or see him as a threat, figuring like most people who swore eteneral vengance on her heâd get swatted down like a gnat once and never return. INstead he returned again and again and again for decades, learning each time getting stronger and wiping out more magic along the way. He went from what was probably a good normal person to a vengeful vigliante dedicated to wiping out magic good or bad because he canât concieve that it isnât ALL bad. Heâs easily what Lena couldâve become if , ironically enough she hadnât encountered him, seeing the end result of hating something just for what it is as it tried to murder her. That hating and resenting Magic would just lead her to become as hollow and vengful as the blot, having a good cause to start.. but slowly loosing yourself to hate and anger. Letting the person who ruined your life still control it simply by focusing all your energy on hating them and people like them.Â
It also gives us an interesting and painful teamup as with the boys and Scrogoe stuck in another dimension, thereâs only one person they can turn to deal with Magic: Magica herself, whose resulted to depression eating pizza and the most she can do as a threat is eat the garlic Violet was wearing in case of vampires (âThere now your susceptible to vampires!â is easily the best joke of the episode, from how Magica eats the garlic in one bite to her manical laugh to Violet just being annoyed rather than terrified or anything). Magica only agrees because they have a common enemy and if he sucks up her magic amulet, thatâs the end of any magic she has left.Â
Itâs also here we learn the reason for the blue and purple color coding: Duckworld magic is indeed color coded.. but rather than be based ont he emotions used or anything.. itâs based on the user. The purple is Magica, and as we later learn Poeâs, magic, and thus Lena borrowing it via the amulet. The Blue is HER magic. Tapping into her emotions and her own inante power. Itâs a nice twist I didnât see coming but makes absolute sense in hindsight: Every time sheâs triggered it.. itâs been when sheâs been using her own emotions and been doing thigns for her own good, and not for anyone elses. It also explains why the Magica powers arenât working for her or stable: their not HERS to control and thus are fighting her.Â
So she trains to use her own using the time honorted traditions of montages and having your sibling shoot things at you out of a magical amulet. She grows in her talent and power and herself, even if she learns from the person she hates more and comes to accept magic.. in time to fight the Blot who misguidedly thinks harming her will show Magica the pain he felt.. even though as we learn later that ship already sailed and we already knew she cares nothing for Lena.Â
But as he drains her amulet... she focuses on what she cares about... and if we didnât already ahvea MOUNTAIN of subtext for webby and lena her âfrienddshipâ montage has maybe one or two shots of her sister.. and about 80 of webby. Seriously they.. they werenât even hiding it at this poitn outside of the finale, which weâll get to.Â
And so she takes hold of her magic, no longer need the amulet to channel it and taking on her super mode! Which was highly contreversal at the time. BUt I get why. As a transformation, ala dragon ball, and a superhero type costume it works, giving her a power and grandeur not seen before and showing sheâs using all of it, giving weight to when it only shows up in the finale when she needs it most and likely wouldâve given it weight any other time it showed up. But it wasnât clear if this was her permenant look now and Frankâs response to it was to say he wanted to dress everyone up in that outfit , at the same size Lena has it, including launchpad wearing it like a cape. Which while hilarious and it was, was also blatant trolling as her return in Split Sword showed it wasnât her default form, and they could relax. But as a form showing the apex of her power, character development and confidence, it works and has all the drama iâd expect from a form like this, reflecting the blotâs power back onto him and overloading the gauntlet and facing down Magica easily.Â
Itâs the perfect way to cap things off... Lena finally acccepts herslef as she is fully: sheâs not evil and neither is magic.. magic is a part of her and her power is not something to hate.. but to embrace. To use to protect the world from people LIKE Magica who would misue their power to harm others or the blot who belivie her power is inherently evil. This is a lena freed from the chains of self hatred, fully accepted. It turns her story into a wonderful, beautiful story of escaping abuse and accepting yourself as who you are, that no matter what you are or where you come from, you are beautiful, you are good and you can do good. And as she flies off with her sister and girlfriend, sheâs finally, fully, truly at peace with who she was who she is now and flies into the future.. and to free her girlfirends dad from another dimension. Nothing is holding her back now, no one can push her around, sheâs who she wants to be, sheâs the master of her, and the thoughts enough to lift her off of the ground. She and Webby are independent together and they are flying. And yes iâm linking the song again.Â
youtube
But even with her character Arc Wrapped she still could support others in their own growth. Case in point:
The Split Sword of Swanstantine!
This was the vingette episode, with a pair of the kids, one from Team Magic the other from the Duck Boys, going after a piece. And while Violetâs segment is neat it dosentâ really expand on her enough for me to go into it like I did with Challenge, so iâll only be covering the cold open and Lena and Hueyâs segment. Given these two are some of my faviorites, Lena hasnât really gotten to have any meaningful interactoins with anyone besides Webby, Violet and Magica (And scrooge but for like.. two minutes), and this bit is really creative and intresting I loved it. It also has Steelbeak so I got a nice Jason Mantzokus fix on top of that despite him barely getting to speak in this one.. and really all season. Season 3 REALLY wasted Steelbeak, only using him three times and just ignoring the whole idea of him growing more compitent with time. Maybe Frankâs saving that for darkwing duck if he gets to do that I dunno. At least Invincible and Close Enough are using the man properly so I got that.Â
THe setup to the episode as a whole is comedic gold: Scrooge has taken the kids to Monocrow to find the split sword, one of the missing mysteries before FOWl.. only to then realizze in one of the best jokes of the season, after HOURS of plane travel probably that Violet and Lena had also come along having slept over and thus spending the episode in their sleep clothes. As Violet puts it in LIebeâs best delivery of the series âYou said eveyrone get on the plane so we got on the planeâ. So, fricking relatable. Scroogeâs awkard âDo you.. like history?â is also great, David is a treasure, as if heâs just now realizing he really dosenât know Webbyâs closest friend and girlfriend and is scrambling for some common ground so he can stop talking. 1/2âČs good enough and weâre off.Â
Lena and Hueyâs plot, the final one of the three, likewise has a simple setup: Huey finds the sword piece.. and also Steelbeak, whose ready to punch him some children. Lena freezes time as she can do that but canât delay the inveitble, just give them time to plan.Â
And this is a nice showcase for Huey and a nice chance for Lena to be snarky as Huey wants to try anything and everything he can do that dosenât involve fighting as he hates it and Lena endulges him as he gets tossed around, playing on her phone while he tries dumb scheme after dumb scheme from prtending to be his dad, to his inner child, to construction to offering him a snack, to âwhat sword pieceâ while hodling the sword blade twice his side behind his back.
Lena eventually calls him on it: He canât keep avoiding this and thereâs some reason he dosenât want to fight. The reason turns out to be he bruce bannered himself and thus has a split personality for all his agression and primal rage, the duke of making a mess, Hueyâs version fo the McDuck family anger heâs buried away and is ashamed of, hating his more impuslive emotions due to his desire for control.Â
As for how Lena impacts this.. itâs her own acceptance of the part of her she hated, her magic, that gives her the clarity to help Huey, helping him realize like her this shit isnât healthy and to make peace with the Duke instead of fighting him and locking him away. The result is a perfect combo: a huey with all the power and strength of a mcduck, but the nuance and tactics Huey normally has to beat Steelbeak easily. Lena is impressed, a friendship is forged and we see how far shâes come: from hating herself.. to helping others stop doing it before it gets worse.Â
How Santa Stole Christmas!
All we really learn here is that she and Violet share a room and a king sized bed.. but we got that cheek smooch and I had to mention that so there you go.Â
The Last Adventure!:
Like most of the main cast Lena gets a decent note to go out on, if a bit wobbly. The wobblyiness comes from two sources. The first is just a nitpick of mine; We donât get to see the climax of her fight with the Blot alongside Manny. No really. The Blot got two spotlight episodes, his own sidekick/wife/amy sedaris, and was built up as one of FOWLâs biggest threats.. and his defeat isnât even shown on screen for some damn reason. I feel they just ran out of time but given how important Lena and Manny were series wide and how awesome the keith david reveal was, itâs a cop out
Speaking of Cop Outs we canât talk about this episode without talknig about the elephant in the room: Lena saying Webby âalready has two sistersâ, seemingly shooting down any posiblity of Weblena. I do not see it that way but do feel the two couldâve phrased it better and we couldâve gotten SOME Weblena by the end instead of none to offset this. I feel Lenaâs motivations, esecpailly given the context were purely to try and placate Webby to keep her from investigating the twins further and endangering herself, not realizing how badly this wouldnât work as Lenaâs never cared about where she comes from and her past is all pain and abuse before Webby, while Webby had this gnawing at her her whole life. I do think the last episode was the WORST POSSIBLE place to put this, as it comes off as queerbaiting evne though I donât think that was the intent. So yeah this line sucks and was poorly conveyed.Â
Everything else though is thankfully excellent: Her raging frekaout at June feels warranted, as June is literally trying to cut Webby out of her life and was purposffully trying to galight webby as we find out. Her and Violetâs reason for going is also just pure awesome, pure heartwarming and pure badass, both angrily and simply proclaming when stating why their going on the final attack no fowl âItâs Webbyâ. Webby helped Lena become a better person and lnvoes her more than anyone else and vice versa and Webby gave Violet Friends, a sister and a life of her own. Nothings going to stop them and Scrogoe wisely backed down on that one before they strangled him.Â
Her final scene is the best though: Not only do she and Violet give May and June friendship braclets but despite the earlier hostlitlity... Lena helps them with not a second though. She now understands them, gets that their like her: a being made by an evil dickhead who saw them as a tool to use and not a person and was willing to kill them the moment they were no longer useful. She too was once lost, sad and felt alone..but Webby pulled her out of that and now sheâs going to be there for these two, these alterante versions of the love of her life, to give them the same support and encourages them theyâll find their home. And sure enough my boy comes by not a second later to adopt both of them. In an instnat theyâve gone from alone with only webby like Lena was.. to having a family of their own and loyal friends to stay by their sid.eÂ
And so Lena ends the series charing off into the wild blue with her sister and her newfound friends, the future all ahead of her, the past finally put to bed, and herself finally at peace, in love with Webby.. and with herself at long last.Â
This retrospective was a wonderful time. I throughly enjoyed going through Lenaâs history and being more and more impressed how much Iâd missed and how it was even BETTER the second time around. This arc is Ducktales at itâs best and Lena is the finest thing they acomplished. This is easily Kimiko Glennâs best role and really let her show off her range. Hopefully this isnât the last weâll see of this wonderful lesbian shadow, but as it stands with peace, love and self worth found, itâs still a good place to leave her. If she ever returns iâll of course pick this up again, and free of charge but for now I enjoyed the ride and throughly enjoyed this retrospective. T
Thank you all so much for reading. If you liked this retrospective, please stick around. My next comissioned story arc is covering the various crossovers Lilo and Stitch did, but after that in three weeks return here for Season 2. All three arcs, All done intermidtley. Buckle up.Â

if itâs not too late, 12 for episodes and ships, and 17!
its never too late! thankyou for the ask đ„° oo damn this is gonna be a hefty one, just to prepare you this is gonna be long đ
đ
đ
spoiler alert for my friends who are finishing up season 2 rn, be careful if you look at my top five episodes, pay attention the the episode numbers, i will put [ ] in bold at the beginning and end of spoilers!
12. Top 5 ships
5. faith x myself because have you seen faith? shes such a babe! spare consensual kiss maam?
4. willow x oz, i dont know if this is an unpopular or not but i feel like if the 90s had been more accepting of term then willow wouldve been bisexual, but like even now tv shows will rarely let characters say that word :( but anyway i love them! theyre both quirky and kinda awkward but its such a sweet relationship and you really see how they go from awkward crushes to an actual deep relationship, oz is one of my favourite characters too what a dude!
3. giles x jenny, mlmxwlw solidarity in this bisexual couple! there is no an ounce of straight between them and i love it, i love their dynamic, i love that giles *respects women* (im staring daggers at xander rn), also the original girlboss x malewife couple askdjaksjhd
2. drusilla x spike, these two!!!!!! once again a bisexual couple with zero straight between them, the vibes are off the charts. sexy vampires, goth x punk love, i just love them man, and their relationship is so interesting to delve into. like theyre vampires, theyre soulless and yet they have a capacity for love, they care deeply for eachother, theyre so tender towards eachother in season 2 in the way they take turns to care for one another, also drusilla picking spike up with one hand made me gay and thats on that
1. willow x tara!!!!! lesbians man lesbians! they have a beautiful relationship, until a certain point wink wink, they feel like a perfect match, willows become more outgoing due to buffy and xander snd having a proper group of friends, so its cool to see her as the more outgoing independant one in the relationship, and tara is such a honey đ„ș the biggest sweetheart in the world what a babe!!!! also like how groundbreaking was their relationship? as a queer couple, they had p much the dame amount of screentime as a aueer relationship today! and willow says the word lesbian so many times and is always making gay jokes which is something shows today are too scared to do, its honestly refreshing which is weird for a show in the 90/00s
12. Top 5 episodes
this is so hard because its such a damn good show so i had to rlly be picky about this but here we go
5. 6x22 âgraveâ- i watched buffy for the first time last year at work coz i worked with one other person just packing shit, and THIS was the episode that made us cry infront of eachother. the scene with willow and xander at the end is one of my all time favourite scenes and like legit we were watching and we starting going like ha.. this is so sad Q_Q and we looked at eachother and we were both crying akdjdjsjdhs its SO GOOD, like this is a friendship ive been so invested in and [seeing xander be able to pull her back from that dark place was so heart wrenching and amazing god its so good]
4. 3x12 âhelplessâ - im finishing up s2 in my rewatch rn so i havent rewatched this one to double check but i remember loving it man. buffys father daughter relationship with giles is my favourite of the whole show they make my heart ache, so i love that this is an episode that really shows you how dedicated giles is to her, [its the breaking point where he finally disregards the fact that hes a watcher and acts as her father once and for all, its a turning point for their relationship where he is finally embracing the fact that shes like a daughter to him and i just love to see it Q_Q get you a dad who will leave his lifes calling for you]
3. 4x22 ârestlessâ - season 4 is interesting coz it has really good episodes and them some gd awful ones đđ but this one just blew me away, i love a good character study episode and this is THE SHIT! its so weird and creepy but in the most perfect way, its not on the nose its so subtle, it feels like an uncanny valley version of buffy almost, i like that they finished the season first and then took this episode to do something out of the box and different i feel like it lets them fully explore this idea without the pressure of needing plot included. [also the cheese man is iconic. dont however like xander being all nasty with willow and tara but whats new there man]
2. 1x12 âThe Prophecy Girlâ - for my first watch of buffy i wasnt that into the first season, like i enjoyed it but i didnt think it was anything super special? but this episode changed EVERYTHING for me. up until now buffy had been fun, witty, charming, but not anything new atleast for me, maybe in the 90s it was but right now its your average teen supernatural show. but this episode!!!! the emotion! buffy facing her death, her speech about how shes just 16 and shes scared and she doesnt want to die, that is what i wanna see!! its heartbreaking and it made me cry, and then it gives us the wonderful moment of giles trying to take her place and buffy realising that she has to be the one to do it, man its so good! basically anything with buffy and giles being a duo is gonna make it an automatic yes from me and this is indeed the case for this episode, i just love that the show remembers that shes a child! shes not brave all the time, shes not strong all the time, shes just doing her best and sometimes its overwhelming, đđŒđđŒđđŒđđŒ i bow to this episode
1. 2x17 âpassionâ - i know i just sang praises about prophecy girl but THIS EPISODE IS THE SHIT, the best episode full stop. i wont accept any argument. angel is probably my favourite big bad, its so funny to see plain bread, mopey brooding angel become this charismatic, funny, poetic, blood thirsty angelus, hes everything i want in a villain and in this episode he delivers! rip jenny tho love her. i think the tension built around angel is so good, because of his drawings and notes left around, every scene youre worrying like is he here now? are they safe or what? its so tense! and also it is me and im a slag for buffy x giles father daughter moments and this episode fucking delivers! giles discovering jennys dead body is probably one of the best scenes on the show, the dramatic irony is heAVY, we know jenny is dead, we know that these flowers arent from her, but giles is so so happy, and i want to see him happy but you just know somehing horrific is about to happen and damn does it. its a masterpiece! i love jenny and giles so much it is so sad, but also the fact that it gave us that scene makes me almmmoost ok with it? i also love the moment where giles breaks down in buffys arms, hes been there for her and now shes returning the favour and hes accepting it i just đđđ also on a different note, angels narration of this episode is amazing! it gives us great insight to who he is as âevil angelâ and like even though hes awful i was also kind of rooting for him coz hes just such a great villain
sorry this is so long lmao, last question!
17. Which characer do you wish had less of a focus on them in the show?
i dont wanna get yelled at butttttt i dont like the amount of focus on dawn. i think it makes sense for the her first season considering the story arc but that season really does double down its focus onto dawn and buffy and it barely leaves room for anyone else to have a storyline, it keeps the episodes super depressing too its like a constant level of just sadness the whole time because weâre so stuck in THEIR arc, theres no room to balance it out and have a breather, some people might like that its more serious but i really really didnt like, i love episodes like prophecy girl where it is campy and brings the more emotional notes in when the time comes, but dawns whole arc is just constantly depressing the whole time i just hate it, and also just shes not a character i felt i could connect to because of how suddenly shes introduced, so its weird to have her SO focused on in the first half of that season coz we dont know her yet so i feel like the emotional moments dont land the way that they should? basically they shouldve eased us into dawn or introduced her differently and maybe i would like her enough to want the focus on her but i really just dont
adksjakjshd apologies for the essay this is, thanks for the ask!
#btvs#buffy the vampire slayer#why did i write a paragraph for everything im so sorry#i wish i knew how to add a read more link but i dont on mobile#my post#dawn fans please dont murder me#i dont hate her i just dont like her yanno#i am scared people are gonna hate me for not liking her but we all have our tastes

âLast Callâ and Canon Bi Dean
This is going to be very long, very rambly, and very emotional.
Really though, I had high expectations going into this, and quite honestly? Jeremy Adams blew me away.
This episode is about Deanâs growth, itâs about who he was to Lee, and who he is now, about overcoming his own desire to just stop caring and keep on fighting for the innocent. But most importantly to me? This episode canonized bi Dean.
So letâs just get right into it, we know from the beginning that weâre meeting Lee, Deanâs old friend that Sam doesnât really know or isnât really close with, but the way Dean leaves? He doesnât want to bring down the mood of Sam and Eileen in his post breakup depression funk? Good grief.
The bar is cool and right up Deanâs alley, and right out of the gate we get the promo scene with the waitress that we were all wigging out about. And my hunch was right, Dean just kinda rolls right by, which man, Dean from season 1? Hell no. Sheâs just his type, clearly into him, and yet, Deanâs world literally falls away when he sees Lee Webb singing onstage.
You canât really do justice to the way with words to the way that Dean looks when he sees Lee and realizes who he is, Jensen and Christian have so much NUANCE in their scenes together, and the history behind them is palpable, even though we donât know the extent of it. And Lee is just the same way, looking Dean up and down and âDean Winchester,â just to hammer home that something is going on here and we should not ignore it.
âYou got time?â âAlways.â Bruh. There are so many details that we can pick up on about them, their relationship, who they were to each other. Even Deanâs little âyou sound good,â come on guys, what the fuck?
Thatâs another thing: why donât we know the history? Why do they shy away from talking about why they split apart? Dean is clearly upset when Lee mentions Arizona, what happened? Why did John and Dean never mention Lee? And obviously Lee knows John, hell he seems more sorry than Dean does that Johnâs dead, but then again, the Dean that Lee remembers idolized John, so thatâs definitely a big change for Lee, because Dean clearly doesnât idolize John anymore.
I just want to hear about everything thatâs mentioned in the episode in more detail: Lee and Dean went hunting together, presumably alone, since John caught them drunk on a hunt. What went on? I think we know. How often did they hunt together? How long had they known each other? D E T A I L S please Jeremy Adams!!!
âI donât think I have seen you since Sammy was in college.â
âRight.â
âI mean, hell, I thought you were-â
âDead?â
Also Lee does this little teasing laugh and everything about them is soft and my chest hurts.
âI mean, thatâs usually how this ends, isnât it?â
And what I want to talk about here is Leeâs reaction, because he doesnât shrug and do the usual âso it goesâ that so many hunters do, he looks at Dean, like really looks at him, he sighs and says a simple âyeahâ with this look thatâs so soft and so full of something and Dean looks away (doing his eye motion thing he does with Cas) and Lee breaks contact too and looks down and smiles and oh my god. I told yall this was going to be rambly but I didnât draw breath while typing that lmao.
I wanna know about the Arizona thing, I want to know why it made Dean uncomfortable when Lee mentioned it, and I want to know why itâs glossed over. These two were like best friends, you can tell, and for them to just stop talking? Hm.
They swap tales, talking about the triplets that they âsplit em up fair and squareâ even though thatâs not possible and they had an orgy obviously. Dean has this look with the waitress again and you can tell he appreciates it but like? Thatâs the end of it? In the next scene sheâs gone and itâs just Lee and Dean talking, Dean making Lee laugh and enjoying it, itâs just so...romantic?
And even though, the second that Lee doesnât recognize someone he should puts all of us, as the audience on alert, it doesnât even cross Deanâs mind that Lee is doing something wrong, itâs not even on his radar.
âThereâs nothing you canât have, man.â
âThen whoâs gonna kill the bad guys?â
âSomebody else.â
And Dean looks away, because itâs clear what Lee is asking. Heâs asking for Dean to stay.
When Lee starts up the band, I was just struck by how much they look at each other, getting in each otherâs space, Lee leaning forward, Dean watching him walk away. Guys. This happened in front of our faces on screen.
âCanât sit around lip syncing âEye of the Tigerâ when no oneâs watching.â
This is a callback to the ghost sickness episode, but also an intimate moment that no one gets to see of Dean. Sam catches him in the act of it on that episode, so how does Lee know he does this?
And then, letâs get to the singing. Deanâs always postured to Sam that he canât sing (which we all know Jensen has the voice of an angel) and the buildup to him actually singing was so beautiful, because Lee knows he can, he teases him with the âEye of the Tigerâ thing, winks at him, keeps trying to pull him onstage, stands there and bites his lip when Deanâs singing. I mean. Iâm at a loss to what else you would think about them, itâs just plain as day: they were together.
The whole thing is just so playful, and we never see playful like this from Dean. Itâs flirty and funny and sweet and just such a nice change of pace, so good for Dean to be with someone that clearly wants to be with him, who he has history with (amidst the divorce heâs currently in w Cas). Even when they sing together they canât keep their eyes off of each other and the whole thing is honestly too much itâs so fanfic-y and I canât handle it.
And then, the big thing, Lee slaps Deanâs ass in the middle of the song, and Dean doesnât blush, he doesnât stand up straighter like thatâs weird or wrong, he grins this huge amazing beautiful grin and says âyou son of a bitch.â What else are we looking for here? Heâs bi. Heâs bi. With the lighting behind him and the bar named Swayzeâs and Lee staring holes through him, we finally saw onscreen, canonical proof that heâs bi. Sure, itâs been hella subtextual before, but this is text, and no one can ignore it.
At the end of the song, one of Leeâs hands is gripping Deanâs shoulder, and Deanâs arm is around Leeâs waist?????????? Help??????
They round it all out with kicking some gross guys out of Leeâs bar, and Lee stares at Dean and says âstill got it.â I mean....Iâm running out of ways to say the same thing over and over.
âBest friendâs donât just leave without saying goodbye.â
âThey do if they deserve it.â
Hmmmmmmmm, something to think about with these lines.
âLook, I donât know whatâs going on okay, but this is not you.â
Compare that with:
âCas, this isnât you, this isnât you.â
Cool. Fine. I want to die.
Lee became the monster because he thought there was no point in being a good person anymore. You canât stave them off so you might as well âhave a little fun.â Which I think is interesting because of how apathetic and hopeless Deanâs been since Chuck, since Jack, since Mary, since Rowena, but when it comes down to it, heâs always going to care, which is why we love him.
But what I really want to talk about is the way Deanâs face twists when Lee touches him, he turns his head away, his face contorts, like he wanted Lee to touch him, but not like this. Weâve seen Deanâs heart break so much in this show, heâs lost so much and so many, but this is something so different. Itâs not only betrayal, or a realization that he has to kill Lee, itâs the loss of what he had with Lee, what he felt for him. It hurts to watch as an audience member, and I canât imagine how it is for Dean.
Deanâs voice also breaks when he tries to call Lee back, in case you still had any tears left to cry.
The gunfight is intense, but not nearly as intense as whatâs coming.
âI donât know you.â
âYou donât Dean? I am you. Iâm just you that woke up and saw that the world was broken.â
âThen you fix it. You donât walk away, you fight for it!â
No double meanings in this episode are there? Perhaps this is a little bit of what happened between them all those years ago bubbling to the surface?
And then we get one of the best fight scenes in the show, and you know when Dean gets that cue stick, that itâs game over for Lee, but what I wasnât expecting is the sheer heartbreak on Deanâs face. They both look down at the wound, like theyâre both surprised, and Lee holds Dean, he fucking holds him, and this fucking piano music plays when Lee says âokayâ and drops to the floor, and Dean leans against the pool table because fuck, how much more can he lose?
And because not even THAT is enough, ten seconds of divorced Destiel distress? Where Dean clearly wants to talk to Cas but Cas is still giving him the cold shoulder and it breaks Deanâs heart but he doesnât know how to fix it????
Thereâs just so much to unpack here, the show is teaching us new things about Sam and Dean and Cas all the time, and yet I feel like I really know Dean know, I;ve seen a little bit of him that I had never seen before, and Iâm just grateful. Iâm grateful for Dean, grateful for these writers, grateful for his growth. Iâm grateful for the angst and the happiness he had with Lee, however fleeting, and Iâm grateful that I get to leave this episode with the fact that Dean is oncreen bi. Sure, it can be up to interpretation, he didnât come out and say it, but thatâs because he didnât have to. Lee knew, so we knew, and that was all that mattered.
This silly, weird show is important to me for so many reasons, (clearly, since I talk about it all the damn time), but Dean especially is so important to me, I see so much of myself in him, and him being allowed to be him, without some grand coming out scene is even better than I could have ever hoped for. So thank you, Jeremy Adams, for giving us bi Dean, and one of my absolute all time favorite episodes in the show.

Yugioh Ep 36 S4: Seto Joins Dragon Wife in Hell
So I dunno about you guys, but 2020 aged me like a lot in just these 8 months, so I figured it was time to embrace the feeling of being on deathâs door and I decided to learn Mahjong. So I could truly embrace the ancients and vibe in their natural habitat.
Anyway, once I learned some Mahjong lore, some parts of Yugioh just open up. Namely--Setoâs dragons. Like a whole lot of stuff about early Seto Kaiba that confused me at the time just makes so much more sense now.
But unfortunately, he dies this episode, and he never pulled out his Blue Eyes White Dragons, and itâs just like...
...but my Mahjong deep cuts...
Like every episode Iâm just rubbing my palms together in anticipation that someone will die, but like...I never get to talk about how in Mahjong, thereâs only 4 white dragon tiles, but if you have 3, you can steal the fourth white dragon from another playerâs discards, and that when you that, other stuff happens...I donât get to talk about that because Setoâs hella dead.
So lets just get to the death. Dartz decides to make all of our soldier frenemies attack Pharaoh--because thatâs all he needs to raise the Leviathan. Like Dartz doesnât even really need to finish this game. He just needs Yami.
Seto picks up that these friend (and Pegasus) soldiers that Yami refuses to kill are probably going to end the world very quickly so he decides to do something about it. If this were a blog where I talked about cards instead of Mahjong, then Iâd dive into the intricacies of what that even was.
But, weâre not, so lets just talk about Pegasus.
(read more under the cut)
This guy harnesses some psychic energy heâs got leftover from S1 and communicates directly to Pharaohâs mind.
So, hey, what was that about Pegasus not having powers anymore? Like? Heâs still doing this? Heâs still psychic and he very clearly can still make blank cards so like...I guess you can take out the eyeball and make him nicer, but you canât take out some of the effed up magic side-effects. (like there was a comment I didnât respond to (which, sorry about that, been a little nuts over here in California), but apparently there was a movie in between seasons where Pegasus saved their lives--so heâs legit good now...there was a DLC where character arcs happened.)
Which kind makes you wonder about Marik, but weâll probably never see him again so o well, save it for the fanfiction.
PS Yami is totally fixating on that eye we canât see, right? Like...it never outright tells us, but does this spiritual Orichalcos manifestation of Pegasus still have the golden eye? A human eye? Or no eye at all? Just skin?
Not like it matters because Seto does some sort of card shenanigans that undo the whole friends that are soldiers thing like it never happened.
MMMMM I donât like these weird legs on Yugi. Donât like the thighs it gave to Joey. No! Iâm seeing like this skin-tight silhouette of half an ass right now and I really donât like it.
Along with other card things I wonât go into that consumed most of this episode, Seto finally got hit by a...well, I mean you can clearly see it in the next cap.
So, in Mahjong, there are 3 types of dragons: a white dragon, a red dragon, and a green dragon. I used to think it was really lazy that weâre just calling monsters straight up âwhite dragonâ or âred dragonâ in this show, but now it makes more sense because this whole time it was probably babyâs first Mahjong reference but Iâm too Western to know that.
Anyway, the white dragon is funny looking because itâs a white tile--just a completely blank white tile. I thought it was a wild card at first but nah--itâs a white dragon in a snowfield--which is a very funny Dad joke from 200 years ago weâre still doing today. But, often, instead of a Dad joke, theyâll just make the white dragon tile a drawing of a blank card, like this:
Kind of funny that the guy whoâs shtick is white dragons, ended up with his soul in a blank card. Was that a mahjong reference? Probably not, but I noticed it.
And mahjong aside, the show paid itâs respects to Seto dying and so he took his sweet time passing on. Itâs still not that much respect. We arenât gonna get that amazing Joey death sequence from S3 that took like half an episode of scene-shredding for our mains to recover from, but like...Seto was very determined to keep going, despite not having a soul.
He even finished his turn of cards, as if to just spite Joey Wheeler for that one time Joey hella died before killing Marik.
Shippers rejoice, itâs a Yami and Seto Kaiba death sequence. If you squint really hard, it might even be an embrace. I mean they both have very sharp duel disks on, and if Yugiâs closes for whatever reason, itâll snap Setoâs head clear off, but what other âhugsâ do we really get on this show?
And as for Mokuba, he was quite tragic this episode. I mean itâs Yugioh, so itâs not like youâre gonna cry or anything, but Mokuba just doesnât really have anything else going for him without his brother so it is legit like...man Mokuba gets a lot of crap thrown his way and even when heâs happy, he still has to live with Seto so just...Mokuba...
Again we get this bubble effect of other people trying to enter the Orichalcos which happens just a Hell of a lot this season. Like Dartz probably has never had a single person WANT to go in the green zone in 10,000 years and then these bizarre children happened and they just want to bounce off that thing like a jello pudding.
I think it took over 5 minutes for Seto to die, and he was very, very, VERY angry the entire time. Just fueled by literally nothing but rage. Could probably go a couple more episodes if he had taken a nap in the KaibaCopter, but alas, even Seto Kaiba eventually runs out of fumes.
Anyway, another Mahjong fun fact. The dragon tiles are considered an âhonor tileâ and how many times have we heard Seto--who is such a scumball--go off about his honor? It can be hard to use honors tiles because their rate of success is lower, so when Setoâs like âI have to live up to my dragonâs honor or I canât keep these in my deckâ could he be like...making a Mahjong pun as well as a literal reference to whatever he defines as honor?
...Again, just a Mahjong reference I noticed, but probably not what they intended at all. Which is Good Enough for this blog.
After he tragically passed on, and Yami delicately put his body on the ground, -- Dartz decided to make this moment very funny for me, instead.
Bless.
Not as good as Yami the both times his body was chucked casually across the screen this season--but a very good toss, nonetheless.
I have made so MANY clips of this season!
Tristan and Tea kinda just stood there this entire episode while this was all going down and like...I know they canât really do anything else at this point but like...can someone give Mokuba a hug???
I canât believe Valon was the only guy in this entire show about friendship who knew how to hug people. He was in prison since he was 9, and then was raised by freakin Dartz, why is he the only hugger?
PS, apparently Setoâs yummy soul was enough to make the Leviathan open a single eye-ball in curiosity.
Mokuba out there flinging so many insults that he got everyone else banned from watching devil cards. Itâs like sports competitions in Middle school with that one kid who wonât stop cussing. That one kid who is the reason everyone else has to sit through a boring ass assembly about sportsmanship? Thatâs Mokuba.
Now that everyone is âpassed outâ, we can get to the juicy stuff only the olds talk about--which sounds a lot like Iâm about to do another segway into talking about Mahjong again, but Iâm actually all out of the Mahjong juice. Again, Iâm ass at Mahjong.
(and like...the peanut gallery died in the original version, right? I know to never trust a âtheyâre just sleepingâ line in Yugioh.)
Dartz telling me he dragged that ass length blue hair across Egypt?
Man.
I would say that it mustâve really thrown people, but then again, their Pharaoh looked like...that.
So Dartz ended up wandering the earth for 5000 years, cursed to live immortally, unable to revive the great Leviathan, wallowing in his failure. Sentenced to suffer the entire existence of humanity that he never wanted to see survive anyway, unable to die himself.
Thatâs an interesting plotline that I wish I saw more of. I really like the idea of a supervillian who is already past his prime, whoâs already burnt out, whoâs so far removed from what happened that heâs fully accepted his demise and is just wandering around out of habit. But, most importantly--that changes my math. Thatâs like...5000 years he wasnât slurping no souls because he was too damn depressed. So Iâll append the Deathcount. One second.
OK so we can just subtract 7.3 million from what we had, leaving us with: 7,805,844,047. Barely even made a dent but...eh...when you got the current population of the Earth in there itâs really hard to make a dent in that thing.
PS I still have that google doc where I keep track of the deaths, we have 55 lines of entries, haha.
Yugioh is interesting because you do have some racial stuff going on here where Yami is SO OLD that he doesnât remember not only his own name--he doesnât remember what he looks like. Heâs even seen it a few times in hallucinations but like...Yami legit doesnât know what it is to be an ancient Egyptian anymore. Itâs been a hot minute, and he still sees himself as a pale skinned Yugi clone when he spiritually manifests in the show. Because the modern day, set in Japan, through Yugiâs eyes--thatâs all he knows about life.
Dartz was so impressed by Pharaohâs magic powers that he knew--he just KNEW that this Pharaoh with the worst hair would be the yummy soul for the Leviathan tummy. But unfortunately...
This is a show that has had so MANY overlapping apocalypses that I did have to sit back and kind of count off on my fingers which crazy person this would be about.
Honestly? Either Seto or Bakura...guessing Bakura because we havenât finished his storyline yet and I know that heâs the big bad of S5. But man...Dartz was just like âoh...no thanks to that guy. Iâll just take a nap for 5000 years, BIG no thanks.â and it does make you wonder...
...oh...so thatâs why you didnât bother Bakura in this timeline.
It also helps make Bakura even more of a threat. Again, Bakura is great because heâs just constantly leaving nuggets of what a threat he is and then just...disappears for seasons on end. The Bakura weâve made in our head is probably way more awful than what he may end up being.
But for now, itâs fun to just fill in the gaps instead.
anyway that was it for this episode, Iâm off to pretend itâs Thanksgiving week and will look forward to drowning my anxiety in a 16 lb turkey shared between four people.
Anyway, I brought up the cat that falls asleep on metal rods so I have to do this:
