>And aaa imagine Cyrus just never saying it but knowing that both of his dads' lives would've been different if he hadn't been born. Like maybe all of Ballister's plans to overthrow the Institute and stuff took longer, and some phases in his plan had to be put in hold because of him and stuff.

I definitely had a lot more fun behind the scenes with Never Be Alone than I did with She's Gone. So here's the sillies, and some notes.

This is a guide video I made in cause I either forgot how I was rendering it, or I want to make a comic using this style again. I used Panel 3 because it was the original first panel. There is no audio, so you don't need to worry about unmuting it.

I did this with the flats for Panel 2 because it reminded me of a drawing featured in one of my earliest MD posts. This quote has had me in a choke-hold ever since I made it (by the way, I named that drawing I mentioned: "Heyyy Biiitch!").

I wanted to make sure a few panels in this comic looked right, so I drew them with my finger (because I wanted to and I felt like it). N's face looks so derpy here and that's by choice.

I made this because SolverUzi looked like she was accusingly pointing at N. The Solver does seem petty to me, so I feel like It'd do this. Fun fact, that's why It's wearing Uzi's face and why It didn't heal her hand: just so It can rub salt in N's wounds and call him "big brother" like Cyn does to SERIOUSLY fuck with him.

Pre-Gaussian Blur on the dialogue! This is another panel I drew with my finger to ensure it'd look right later on. The "BASICALLY HIGH AS BALLS" note was added because of his face. It's actually sad in context of the comic, seeing as this is one of the few moments where N genuinely smiles.

TESSA FOR THE WIN, BABY! I made this because I said "Whoa, suddenly Tessa!" at one point while working on this panel. As for the "Chekhov's stabby stick" part... I mean, come on. There was a closeup of that blade for approximately two seconds. If that's not a surprise tool they can use for later, I don't know what is.

There is no reason for this one beyond "I thought it was funny." It just exists and there's nothing we can do about it.

Imagine if I actually went with either this quote or "Well, that could've been a whole lot worse." I had to pick between them for a sillier take on this panel, but imagine if Tessa ACTUALLY said "Well, shit" after all that?

the rapid clacking of your shoes' heels across the cement parking lot ground was reverberating throughout the air and filled your ears, distracting you from the echoing voices of your critical boss nitpicking at your plans for an upcoming event the company was going to hold in a few weeks. it angered you that your boss wasn't even going to do anything remotely related to this event, he wad just the one paying for it–and yet, the way he spoke to you about how 'overly ambitious' and 'a huge waste of money' your bolder ideas were and how 'dull and lackluster' your more simple ideas were made you confused and irritated. just what did this cranky man want? and why was it always your problem and your fault if nothing could satisfy him?

"that... geezer, what an asshole..." you muttered under your breath as you scanned your surroundings in the vast, empty parking lot. you searched for your car, clicking the buttons on your car key's face; listening for your car's beeping noises in hopes of finding the damn thing. you walked around for a bit and finally found your car; though when you tried opening it, the door wouldn't budge. you cussed under your breath and kicked the door of the car, hoping it'd open, but nothing. you kept clicking the buttons on your keys to unlock the door, but it just wouldn't open—that was, until a bigger hand wrapped itself around your own tinier ones and opened the door for you after a beep was heard from the car.

you turned around and was speechless, your boss was here—and he opened the car door, which meant... fuck.

your boss raised an eyebrow up at you and looked down at your petrified figure. "why're you trying to open my car door for me?" he asked you in a low voice as your eyes widened, your mouth running faster than your mind, and you stuttering out cut up responses that neither miguel nor you could understand. your hands shivered as your knees shook, moving away from miguel as you wondered where your car was. you clicked your key's buttons again, and you heard a faint beep in the distance, right across you two was your car, which look exactly like miguel's; it was a company-issued car, miguel got it for you without thinking much about the design, all that mattered was that you had a car to drive, but he never thought you'd be this clumsy to forget where you parked or what your license plate was.

you chuckled awkwardly and apologized to miguel about the mix-up, fidgeting with the handle of your bag as you did, making you seem a lot more agitated than you thought you'd be. miguel sighed and adjusted his glasses up on his sculpted face, looking at you with such sternness and coldness to his gaze. "just a reminder, you're not a child in school anymore; you're an adult, my secretary, might i add," he reprimanded you with such a heavy tone that made you want to really sob now—though all thoughts of sobbing were out the window as he got closer and closer to you, his breath feeling hot on your face as he stared down at you with knitted eyebrows. "i hired you because you seemed capable enough to do your job right; so don't go mixing up what's yours with what's your boss', i'm not here to deal with your clumsiness." he scolded you, your breath hitching in your throat as he looked down at you.

you gulped and nodded, feeling your face get all hot from how close he was to you. miguel pulled away and climbed into his car, closing the door and starting the car up, prompting you to leave an enter your car—but before you could even go, miguel rolled his car's window down and called out to you. you turned around and gave him your full attention, and you noticed... his face seemed a little... what was it? was he... shy? he sighed and told you he'd get one of drivers to take your car home safely for you. "but, sir, i—" "i would like to hear more about your proposals for the company event. i apologize for my... rudeness earlier, you were merely doing your job and that much i can respect."

the most fearsome company head you've ever dealt with is... apologizing to you? you were stammering and telling miguel that it was okay, he didn't need to apologize, he was the one paying for it and whose name would be on the line for the success or failure of this event, but miguel saw that as no excuse to have acted that way to you. he got out of his car and walked over to you, offering his hand out to you while looking away from you in embarrassment. "...i was gonna do the coffee run for today, but i didn't... wanna do it for everyone in the office, i... i want to talk more about the project with you." he told you in a hushed voice, his voice faltering and quieting the longer he spoke. he may be mean at times, and a bit too blunt and harsh, but at the end of the day, you're all miguel has to rely upon to keep himself grounded. "you do so much for me, let me, um... make it up to you; i'll drive you to get some coffee. you, um, you can decline, however, i—" you took his hand, making him stop mid-sentence. "i'll... take you up on that offer, mr. o'hara. thank you." you thanked him with a beaming smile, a genuine one, one that showed that you didn't feel as frustrated or annoyed with him as before, but rather more delighted that he was being considerate of you, which was rare for him to show so openly.

miguel looked at you with a softened look of surprise on his face, which quickly became crinkled up as he furrowed his eyebrows and looked away from you; hiding his face in his other hand. he never took his hand away from you at that moment, however, he merely grumbled his 'you're welcome' to you and led you to the front passenger seat of his car. he hadn't taken anybody out to eat or drink or catch up in a long while by himself, so of course, he was anxious, but you always had this aura about you that pretty much made some of his overthinking and anxiety melt away. this is why he loved liked you as his secretary—you could always do such an amazing job at work, and were always so good at calming him down; but he'd never tell you that was the reason why he was taking you out to this cafe, and, no... it isn't a 'date'.

Yet another average day in Family Video:

"Hey. Remember when you said that you'd totally fuck Jonathan."

"When...? Oh, yeah. What the fuck that was literally a month ago why are you mentioning that now?"

"Because that was the same conversation we decided to get the matching tramp stamps. And trying to hide those from my parents is a literal pain in the ass. Pun fully intended. I can't even sit straight and-"

"I'd say you can't do anything straight"

Steve swaggers to the back and takes out the whiteboard they purchased together - on ROBIN'S SUGGESTION may he add.

"Can't believe you're losing in your own game. About bad jokes. And being gay. Which are basically your two only personality traits."

Robin's side is embarrassingly empty. He sees it as cosmic karma for her you-suck-game during their scoops ahoy era.

"Alright mister little bitch"

"And yet, this little bitch is beating you in your own game"

Robin shows him the finger. Steve bites the finger because he is a little shit and things like boundaries and personal space have already lost all meaning between the two of them.

In this moment the front doors open. The elderly man takes one look at the scene before him and leaves without a word.

"Where did the Jonathan thing come from?"

"Dunno. I was bored. Thought it'd be funny to see you go through a gay crisis."

"Not much of a crisis if I already admitted to it."

"You're no fun."

"Really? That was not what my dad said three months ago. According to him I am a fucking joke."

"Coming from Harrington Senior that's honestly a compliment"

"Please remind me of that the next time I radio you at 3 am. Who is on tape duty?"

"I did it last time."

"Alright" Steve nods towards the small pile of romcoms they have pointedly not been reshelving for the last half an hour. "Enjoy your alone time in the romance section."

"Do you think it would be an invasion of privacy if we checked who returned all that? It was either an epic girls night of an awful breakup." Her voice gets fainter as she moves to the back of the store.

"Nah. We're in the land of the free or whatever. Wait, let me do it"

"You're only saying that so you can procrastinate asshole"

"Does that mean you don't want to know who took them? Because I promise you, you really really do."

"Don't ask if you already know the answer dingus"

"Guess"

"Ummm....power bottom."

"What?"

"Like with Jonathan. Would you rather he call the shots or the other way around?"

She makes a series of incomprehensible movements that are probably supposed to represent intercourse between two men.

"This is the reason god made you a lesbian"

"And thank him for that. Amen."

"Who was the one who took all the romcoms?"

In this moment the door opens again. Two girls come in, arm in arm. One is wearing a look that can only be described as disgust, the other is clearly trying to hold in laughter with moderate success.

Over the course of many painful months of customer service (plus surviving an interrogation by the actual Russian secret service) Steve and Robin have developed the ability to hold entire conversations without speaking a single word. It is a very neat talent to have when they want to make fun of someone right in front of them. It is less neat when he is the target.

Robin raises her brows. C'mon dingus, tell these random ass girls about your sex life since you're so proud of it.

Steve frowns in response. Yeah, sure Mrs. Never Even Had A First Kiss.

Robin narrows her eyes. I did have a first kiss. Even if it was absolutely horrible.

Steve puts on his most insufferable expression. You yourself said that it doesn't count. No need to be so jealous Buckley.

Robin rolls her eyes. Alright, I want to see you trying to find a-

"Do you have ET?", Robin doesn't say because, oh yeah, they've got actual customers.

Steve solemnly informs them that ET is current out of stock, but that it should be returned in two days. Robin somehow manages to force her last two movies upon them. They leave with a dazed look on their face that Steve can relate to. Sometimes Robin will start talking and the next thing you know you have a tramp stamp.

"Tommy Hagan"

Robin looks absolutely disgusted. "Tommy Hagan?! You would kiss Tommy Hagan? And then you have the audacity to make fun of my taste in women?!"

"First of all: me and Hagan? Been there done that." Robin looks as if her entire worldview was just flipped upside down. "Second: probably not, he uses a bit too much tongue for my liking. I mean that Tommy Hagan was the one who rented all the romcoms"

Robin takes a moment to process this information. Then she dramatically falls to the floor and squirms around in laughter like a bug on its back trying to get up again. Truly a drama kid through and through.

"And thirdly: for your information, I super could make out with Jonathan Byers. Unlike you, I've got game"

"You don't mean gay-me?"

Steve rolls his eyes and takes out the whiteboard again. He is still in the lead.

"And also, excuse you, I totally could make out with Nancy if I wanted to, okay?! I'm just not a homewrecker unlike some other people"

"Excuse me? I was the one who was cheated on?!"

"I'm insulting your taste, dingus"

"Rich coming from you, since we apparently share the same one"

For a moment she looks confused. Then she thinks back to what she said. Steve can pinpoint the exact moment she realizes it.

"Is this the reason you want me to be into Jonathan so bad? Because you're into Nancy?" Steve feels like a smug cat when her entire upper body grows red.

"Shut up she's just pretty okay?!"

"And badass. Don't forget badass."

"Oh my god I know. Ever since I saw her shooting I haven't been able to get her out of my mind."

"Right?! And as if that isn't enough, she has to go and be smart too! Like, c'mon, she has to have some faults. Some downsides. Nobody is that prefect!"

"Oh my god I know! And-"

They continue like that for a while. Time runs away from them and suddenly Hellfire Club is over and Steve's kids (minus Max, he notes with a heavy heart) are barging into the place as if they own it, for no reason other than to be absolute menaces.

"And like. Robin. She was so hot in that moment. I swear to-"

"Who are you talking about?". Steve is used to Dustin being a rude little shit and automatically answers without even thinking about it. "Nancy."

He realizes his mistake too late. He looks up. Mike's eyes are wide in horror. "I hate you so fucking much" he says before turning around and leaving.

Robin sighs. "I guess that is the downside."

Your recent reblog reminded me, how did you feel about the theories that Viren either put Harrow's soul in the bird or in a cursed coin?

Also, if you're willing, I'd be super interested on your take (headcannon, one-shot, art, ect) of either senario

"Harrow is the Bird" is definitely a classic TDP theory.

From economic storytelling POV I never really saw what it would add to TDP. I always loved how profoundly sad it was when Ezran and Callum had to face the harsh reality of their father's death. One of the reasons besides Aaravos and Viren's intense homoerotic chemisty that made the season 2 my fav season. Harrow managed to be on of the most impactful characters in TDP despite the little screentime he had. I thought bringing him back would be kind of a disservice for his character. At the same time I really miss him and I do like the idea of getting more Harrow scenes, especially with Viren.

It's a neat theory and Viren would totally do something like put a man in a bird . When it comes to headcanons I once entertained the idea of writing a fic where Aaravos was the one who brought Harrow back to get into Ezran's good graces (for manipulative reasons of course). I never got around writing that becuase I had a gut feeling that Aaravos was way too antagonistic to treat Ezran even with a modicum of respect and now we know the canon agrees.

Also if Harrow came back it'd be really funny to see him desperately struggling to grasp everything that had happened during his dark magic bird coma.

Good Day, how has life been treating you? I hope it has been good. I personally had a bad last few weeks, So as a way to destress I am gushing random ideas I had about the Cage fighting 4 Kids AU/Concept since I havent spoke with anyone about these ideas and I desire to gush.

-I thought of how the entire concept as a whole would likely put into question Milli's morals in regards of being a hero. Especially if she is someone who isn't exactly eager to fight people in physical fisticuffs. Maybe she even badly hurts someone by accident instead of just dispatching them safely which would probably make Milli feel really bad about herself because she's meant to help people, but she just hurt someone for real. (Additionally worsened by my headcanon of Milli's strength being something with negative connotations to it because she hurt her family with it.)

-I thought of a combatant in the fight pit that would be someone that Milli's strength would not make it an easy win to deal with them. Basically someone that is physically stronger than even Milli's strength allows her to be, putting her in a genuinely dangerous situation and making Milli realise the stakes here. So I went with a mantis shrimp + Pistol Shrimp fusion. Look them up and you'll know why.

-A cool idea I thought of was for Milli to use her pattern power to turn her disguised suit into her other Gimmick or trope based Costumes (Knight, Cop, Ninja, etc.) Alongside any gear associated with that costume. Mostly because it'd make certain fights more interesting as Milli would be able to change the course of a fight by sorta swapping around different costumes. (Maybe some would have specific advantages she needs to make use of, also because themeing for other fights.)

I adore the Steel Stampede! How did you come up with the appropriate animal designs? What are their characters? How do they act? Are they nice? They look very intimidating, and scary, like Clash!

That’s all! I’m quite excited to see their introduction and Clash’s introduction in the webcomic!

Thank you! :) Two of my lifelong obsessions are music and animals, so I guess it was inevitable that I'd end up caricaturing music genres as species or groups of animals. It's the premise that gave way to the entire Rock & Roar story, so I went wild with it. So with metal, we've got this loud, fast, heavy genre with chugging guitar riffs and drums doing blast beats, and all of that reminds me of powerful, charging animals and their thundering hoofbeats. Top that with the sign of "the horns" being a hand gesture associated with metal since the heyday of Black Sabbath, and it seemed clear to me that metal musicians and fans would be horned and hooved animals like the ones above.

I first drew Grant Ruffalo more than ten years ago and he was a buffalo/bison from the beginning. It's just the animal that intuitively felt right for this character. To his left is Onyx Slater, and I chose an oryx because their white face with black markings reminded me of the corpse paint some black metal bands wear.

To Grant's right are Billy Kidd the goat, and Gunnar Ramsey the black sheep. No specific reason for choosing those animals in particular, I just thought it'd be funny.

Steel Stampede became a band in the late 60s. These four guys take their music very seriously and are intimidating, for sure. They command respect and they don't mess around, at least not publicly. They're very much regarded as musicians of a very high caliber, a band that is cited as influential by virtually everyone else in the metal scene.

Grant is known for his short temper, Onyx is more restrained and keeps to himself, Billy is the funny guy of the bunch but also very brave for his small stature, and Gunnar is the most down to earth and easiest to talk to. None of them are actually mean though - that's more of an image they keep up. They're not going to go out of their way to bully anyone around or intentionally hurt someone. They just won't tolerate anyone messing around with them, or their gear, or their live performances. And frankly, I think they've earned that level of respect.

But backstage, if you're on a friendship basis with these guys, they're pretty cool. If Grant is in a good mood, he'll regale you with stories of all that he's experienced throughout his music career, and will enjoy listening to your own stories too. He might even pass on some of his wisdom, in the form of a guitar technique, or advice on stage presence. He wants his beloved music genre to live on and have a strong future beyond him and his band, and even if he won't outwardly show it, it really warms his heart to see young musicians pursuing their craft with passion and discipline the way he did. He wants small bands to succeed, and every once in a while he is known to publicly give a shout out to unknown bands whose future he believes in.

I think it'd be a nice off screen past time that Alejandro info dumps to Heather and she's at least partially listening! Since Heather always has her hair up in a ponytail in the main series, I thought a nice way to show her trust is with her hair! In general her hair has always been something special to her, that's why she fought for a wig in season 2. Since an AMAZING amount of value is placed on her hair, her showing her trust to Alejandro through her hair would be a nice way to visually show she trusts him! Alejandro basically the only genuine bond she's shown to make in the series, canon and in the fic, so I think the swap hcs make it just all the more sweet (/▽＼) !! In a way, since to Swap-ejandro Heather is just a celebrity crush, this sort of interaction deepens their relationship and his feelings beyond just a celeb crush (❁´◡`❁)

NOW FOR THE LAST HC!

This one isn't an Aleheather hc, but moreso a hc focused on Swap-ejandro's appearance! I think that as a trade off, he's not as physically built as canon Alejandro but instead taller compared to him (which is scary considering canonically Alejandro is 6 ft..) Since he's in the place of Sierra in this AU, he probably has enough strength to fight off baboons, he probably just has a hidden build! In general, Sierra and Alejandro in this AU had their skills and personalities swapped, so as a result their backstories technically were too with some small tweaks! I think this AU has been fun to make a bunch of hcs in, congrats if u got to the end of me convulsively info dumping about my hcs on the awesome au (lll￢ω￢) !

Watched Kamen Rider ZO last night so have a doodle and some random thoughts on it below the cut

(tldr I recommend it if you like some classic rider vibes and super cool kaijin suits. But also it's only 50 min long and free to watch on youtube (at least in the usa) so why not watch it)

First of all incredible kaijin suits and designs. I don't know if it's the movie budget or what but they look soooo good. Especially Doras he is probably my favorite Kaijin design period.

Love the biomechanical aspects, him regenerating is just the coolest shit

The bat and spider designs are also really good, and I LOVE the stop motion they chose for the spider. Superrrr unsettling. Also the bat does the funny Pan's Labyrinth thing lol

The movie also had a lot of nice cinematography. The opening shot with Masaru in the wilderness seeing visions with the music box playing in the background gives this beautiful tragedy vibe, same with the flashback of him first transforming in the rain. Helps to make you invested in him given that he doesnt get much other characterization (which is fine it is only a 50 min movie after all)

There's some cool pov chase scene shots when Doras is in ball form, Doras's introduction scene is really cool and menacing, the action in general is pretty nicely shot with like a minute long continuous action scene towards the end of the movie that goes hard.

I also really liked the music in the movie. The insert song and credits song by INFIX are both bangers (especially Ai Ga Tomaranai). I also just like the trumpet heavy Showa style songs on general I think, and when the organ or electric guitar start going 👌 chefs kiss. During battle there were also like videogame-y sounding songs that reminded me of like Persona 2 for some reason that I liked a lot.

The plot and characters are pretty standard but they serve their purpose in the movie well enough given the runtime. No big complaints here.

I don't know if the point of Doras mimicking Hiroshi is to say something about how "All creations crave love from their parents" or something or if they just thought it'd be creepy but either way it's cool. It definitly seemed jealous of Hiroshi's relationship with his father, but it could've also just been frustration at not being completed.

But yeah really enjoyed the movie, might bump Shin prologue and J higher in priority in the watch queue because of how much I liked it👍

The way these two words made me soft. That was the moment he realized that their night in Paris wasn't just a casual hook-up. The moment he realized this wasn't a one time thing and that Nathan wanted him around. That Nathan was actively seeking his company cause he liked him. And the way he's surprised yet utterly pleased?

The way my heart ached for Farouk when I first read the teachers bonus comic because he thought this night, which was special to him, was just a simple hookup for Nathan. His monologue about being inexperienced because he had only ever dated women and Nathan reassuring him that he doesn't want to rush things and that they'll do everything at their pace is literally so important to me.

This kind of dialogue wasn't in the show but you could somewhat sense it in all their scenes and little gestures. Idk, does this make sense? Lol. Just how they interacted and how calm and cautious Nathan was after their first kiss. This all send me.

Also, random, but... I saw Farouk and Ajayi and their journey getting compared with Nick or Charlie, but Farouk in this prom scene sort of reminded me of Imogen?

Like...they are both so insecure in their own ways, and they are both so surprised, yet happy when they notice they are actually wanted and people want them around? And that is so real.

Imogen being invited to a sleepover and ringing at Charlie's door, forcing a smile and fidgeting because she's nervous, and then all of them are greeting her excitedly, almost dragging her inside and she just naturally becomes a part of the group later on?

Youssef approaching Nathan during prom who just has the biggest smile on his face when he sees him?

Please give me some of that teacher and student content with these two, it'd be kinda funny cause it hasnt been done yet.

I'm here on the behalf of the "send me a character" ask game and I'm going to cheat by asking for two characters: Hua Cheng and mtp Sherlock Holmes (bc tgcf and mtp are both special interests of mine and I'm always excited remembering you post about both of them)

Sherlock Holmes (Moriarty the Patriot)

My first impression: tbh he definitely grew on my gradually, I seem to remember watching the anime the first time and every time the focus was on him being like BACK TO WILLIAM BACK TO WILLIAM.

My impression now: I am so fond of him. I think he is sincerely such a lovely adaptation of Conan Doyle's character. He's lively and silly and moody and awkward and smart and caring and I just really like him.

Favorite thing about that character: I feel like he's very...steadfast. He sets his mind to something and just goes for it, stubbornly. Sometimes unhealthily. But I admire it.

Least favorite thing: I do still get a little bored anytime the story is just on him without William. I love him best when he's with his hubby.

Favorite line/scene: obvious pick but THAT whole interaction on the train is one of my favourite scenes in the whole series. "I was just thinking it'd be fun if you were that clever mastermind"????? [parapharasing again] Sherlock that is crazy people talk, what are you on about you kinky weirdo. But also the bridge scene is right up there. And the rooftop.

Favorite interaction that character has with another: extremely hard to pick between Sherliam moments but I think I'm gonna land on the entirety of chapter 67.

A character that I wish that character would interact with more: Hmm. Bond, maybe. I want to see them get really chummy in part two.

Another character from another fandom that reminds me of that character: Sherlock Holmes from the original ACD stories. 🤣 (Again, I'll edit if/when I think of a better answer)

A headcanon about that character: He idolized Mycroft as a little kid but between a mix of teenage cringe-syndrome over hanging out with big bro and the ways he sees their worldviews as diverging, they drifted apart as he got older.

An unpopular opinion about that character: Idk if this counts, but that he doesn't actually actively dislike women (though he is very gay and not interested in them romantically/sexually) he's just annoyed by the front proper Victorian society makes them put on. Once he actually gets to know a woman, he usually likes them.

Hua Cheng (Heaven Official's Blessing)

My first impression: I first saw a clip of the scene where he's leading Xie Lian through the bloody forest in the wedding clothes beneath the red umbrella, and I downright swooned over the romance of it all.

My impression now: basically the same. THE romantic character. Like. Literally a character who exists for the sole purpose of loving another. I'm getting sentimental in my old age, because I would have turned my nose up at that idea fifteen years ago, but now I adore it.

Favorite thing about that character: he's just so gentle and careful and thoughtful and loving? But also powerful and dangerous. Knight in shining armour hours. But then to be all of that and also be such a bratty, sometimes teasing and sometimes sulky husband is so funny I love it.

Least favorite thing: Uhhh. Hmm. I get why he's mean to...basically everybody but Xie Lian, because everyone has been cruel to Xie Lian. But in a sort of realistic sense that I don't actually bother to apply to fiction like this, I'd like to see him encourage Xie Lian to have other people in his life. It's fine if he wants to stay mad at Feng Xin and Mu Qing, but he should invite Yushi Huang for tea and encourage Xie Lian to hang out with Yin Yu and so on. It would be good for them both to have other friends. But like. That's me forcing myself to come up with an answer lmao.

Favorite line/scene: any big romantic speech, but also anytime he just absolutely embarrasses himself. "Gege, want to get married?" PFFFT. Loser (I love him.)

Favorite interaction that character has with another: I think the part where he's disguised and Xie Lian is laughing at him and he's pouting, and then "Only after having met you did I rediscover that it's such a simple thing to be happy." Just imagining what that must have done to Hua Cheng's heart makes me so happy.

A character that I wish that character would interact with more: Yushi Huang. They are covert infiltration buddies.

Another character from another fandom that reminds me of that character: Has there ever before been this level of simp? Has anyone else romanced so hard? I'm gonna say maybe Kurogane from TRC, because ( TRC SPOILERS) while Hua Cheng is much softer and more poetic about his love, Kurogane did cut off his own arm to save his beloved, and bond his soul to a vampire who could only feed on him, and definitely seems the type to do what Hua Cheng did in the current donghua arc with refusing to let Xie Lian take blame beyond what he actually had done even when that was what Xie Lian wanted. Those all feel like Hua Cheng levels of dedication.

A headcanon about that character: just absolutely and entirely overwhelmed by actually having sex with Xie Lian the first few times. He cries. He maybe panics a little. He comes too fast. He cries some more. Xie Lian adores him.

A song that reminds of that character: I mean, A Thousand Years is more about Hua Cheng than it's ever been about anyone else ever. But also this.

An unpopular opinion about that character: apparently, in some corners, my belief that the donghua version is very very in character to the novel would be unpopular lol

If you are still taking in the event requests then may i please request for a Floyd and Riddle rivalry in asking for a dance? Their interactions are pretty funny ingame so i thought it'd be interesting lol

Well, I'm not entirely happy with this but I've sat on it long enough so...I'm just sending it out! It ended up being far more about Floyd mischievously setting Riddle up with a date but I guess that's close enough!

“How dare you,” Riddle asks in a low and menacing voice.  Most people would find the severe slant of Riddle’s eyebrows, scowling expression and deep red flush to be signs of danger but Floyd only seemed further entranced by his anger.  Floyd’s eyes were blown wide with excitement as he spread his sharp teeth into an even wider grin.  “Speak up, Goldfishie,” Floyd drawls, “I can’t hear you from way down there.”  Riddle’s face screws up as he choaks down his words.  Under normal circumstances, you’d expect to hear the call for a collar come from his mouth but tonight was different.

Days prior, Crowley addressed the gathered assembly of Night Raven students to remind them of the importance of the upcoming Goodwill Dance.  “Nothing will reflect more upon you than your conduct among your peers at this dance.  More importantly, nothing will reflect more upon me.  So, that means you’ll watch your manners!”  Now, Crowley looks forlornly at his hands as thought overcome with sorrow.  “Ah, my poor reputation.  Tarnished by unscrupulous young persons!”  He wasn’t wrong.  The students of Night Raven had been known as troublemakers for good reason.  They delighted in causing mischief to their rival academy Royal Sword and were not selective about how they did it. 

A number of pranks and questionable deeds had already befallen the princely students of RSA.  The last one, a spectacle that resulted in a certain mer prince’s shining red hair being ‘accidentally’ dyed a shockingly bright purple, Crowley had gathered the wayward students of NRC to lay down the law.  “You’ve made trouble with our illustrious neighbor and, what’s worse, got caught!”  Several students snicker in their seats, understanding the clear message.  “In case I am not being heard, there will be no other instances of trouble until this Goodwill Dance concludes…OR ELSE!”   While most students took Crowely’s warning as a mere suggestion to be cleaver with their pranks, one took it as absolute law, for the rules are the rules.

Riddle clenched and unclenched his hands again to try to relieve his anger that the headmaster’s rule had made it impossible for him to vent.  And, oh, did Floyd know it.   He’d delighted in testing just how far he could push the red-haired dorm leader without having him boil over.  It was almost funny until you got dragged into the mix.  “Say, Goldfishie, are you going to ask the Prefect to the dance?  If you aren’t fast enough, I’ll steal them away from you and you’ll end up sad and alone.  Aha ha.”  You’d looked at Floyd in wide eyed shock at the statement before both you and Riddle had broken into sputtering.  “Wha..what are you saying, Floyd?” you stammered.  “Tha…that is a serious breach of etiquette!” shouted Riddle at the same time.  Your reactions had given the eel a certain amount of entertainment and he’d chosen to keep prodding Riddle about it all week long. 

You avoided both Floyd and Riddle as much as you could for the rest of the time leading up to the dance.  It’s not that you were angry like Riddle, it was just that Floyd had hit a nerve.  Perhaps it was silly after being isekai’d into a new world, but you’d still felt hopeful that you’d be asked to the dance.  After Floyd made a scene in the hallway like that, all over school, students were placing bets on who’d ask you to the dance; Floyd or Riddle.  Only, you were pretty sure that neither one planned to actually ask you, which threw a wrench in your plans.  The reputation of your fearsome suitors was enough to ward away other students; the rumored love-triangle robbing you of other options.  You’d been feeling really down about it too.  Unfortunately, the only one you had to complain to was Grim.  And complain you did.  Frequently.  Surprisingly, your furry partner actually seemed to listen.

“Hey, Riddle!” Grim demanded with his hands on his furry hips, “What did you do to my minion?”  The Teapot Tyrant let out a startled gasp and peered over the table in the library at the direbeast.  “Keep it down, this is a library!” shushed Riddle as sternly as he was able to in library volume, “Now, what is it that you want with me?”  Grim points accusingly up at the dorm leader, “They’ve been upset all week, grumbling and complaining about that stupid dance.  It’s interrupting my dinner.  My DINNER!”  With one final scowl, he accuses Riddle, “You’ve stolen the Prefect’s chance to get a date to the dance and now you have to make it up to them so I can eat my tuna in peace!” 

Riddle quietly assesses the situation, “The Prefect is upset over the dance?  And I’ve…stolen their chance to get a date?”  Grim doesn’t reply, merely crosses his arms and glares up at the red-haired boy.  “So…so you are saying that I should take the Prefect to the dance?” Riddle asks?  Then he flushes as he thinks it over, “Me and the Prefect, at the dance together?”  Finally, he tilts his head at a haughty angle and offers Grim a prim stare.  “Well, I suppose I’ll have to then.  Not!  Not because I want to!  But!  But I have to!”  With another deep flush coming over his cheeks, he pouts and declares, “According to Rule Number 53, anything stolen must be returned.  If I’ve stolen the Prefect’s chance to have an escort to the dance, then I must return it.” 

As much as Riddle tried, he was unable to avoid Floyd and find time to ask the Prefect to the dance.  As the day of the dance dawned, Riddle decided that it was just as appropriate to ask the Prefect AT the dance rather than before.  Yet, here was an obstacle, a 191 cm eel determined to stand in his way.  “I don’t have time to play with you now, Floyd,” Riddle hissed up at the smiling mer, “I only have until the end of the dance to make things right with the Prefect!”  Floyd’s eager smile prefaced his mocking retort, “Make things right?  That’s none of my business.”  Riddle scowled back at him, clearly believing it was Certainly! His! Business! after he was the one who started the whole mess.  Riddle choked back his anger and made an attempt to push past Floyd.  However, when he extended his hand to push him aside, a smiling Floyd instead grabbed it, “Why, Goldfishie, I didn’t know you wanted to dance with me.  Aha ha.”  Then, tugging the flustered Dormleader by said hand, he pulled Riddle out onto the dance floor. 

With a sharp turn, Floyd pulled Riddle into a waltzing hold and tugged him into the dance.  Riddle’s face twisted up in frustration, but he was too proper to break the etiquette of the dance and angrily fell into step with the eel.  Both boys were talented dancers and able to mostly ignore the dance steps and hold a conversation in angry whispers instead.  “What is the meaning of this, Floyd?” Riddle demanded.  “Night not going how you wanted?” Floyd asked with a long lazy smile.  “You know perfectly well what I’m trying to do!  Now, stop getting in my way!” Riddle answered the question in an angry huff. 

“I’m not the one getting in your way,” Floyd said calmly, “you’re getting in your own way.”  Riddle looks up at his dance partner incredulously.  “I most certainly am not!” he retorts sharply.  “Then why’d it take all this to get you to ask the Prefect to the dance?” Floyd replies as they finally fall into silence.  Why had it taken such extreme lengths to get to this point?  Riddle flushed a touch while he mediated silently on his feelings.  Finally, he looked back up at Floyd and asked in a small voice, “So what do you recommend then?”  Floyd smiles and pats Riddle on the head, earning him another scowl, before he leans in and whispers, “Don’t overthink it.”  Then he gives the shorter boy a shove that sends him backpedaling until he collides with another student.

“Ah!” you exclaim as you feel someone bump into you from behind, nearly sending you toppling over.  You regain your balance and turn to see who’d been so clumsy.  “Riddle,” you weakly observe.  He stares at you, seemingly frozen.  You had prepared a scolding for the rude person to bump into you but obviously you changed your mind about delivering such a speech to Riddle.  Instead, you awkwardly rubbed your arm and waited for him to say something.  When he doesn’t respond you start to turn away, “I guess I’ll go first then.”  Only a hand catches your arm before you can leave.  “Wait,” he calls softly.

You stop and look back at the flustered Dormleader.  He mumbles something while avoiding your eye.  “What was that?” you ask him.  He blushes a deep red, looks straight into your eyes and repeats, “I’d be very honored if you’d allow me to be your escort for the remainder of the dance.”  You give that a moment to process, “Are you asking me to dance?”  He gives a short nod and you break into a smile.  “It’s about time,” you say and hold out your hand.  He gives a start and stammers, “Were…were you waiting for me?”  You slip into a dance hold and look into his earnest face, “I don’t know.  Maybe I was.” 

From across the dance floor, two sets of mismatched eyes watch the nervous couple navigate their first dance.  “You know, I’m quite amused by this outcome,” Jade muses, “I thought you’d play with him far longer.”  Floyd shrugs, “It was getting boring, so I decided to help him out.”  Jade puts a hand to his chin, pretending to ponder that, “Oh?  Now you are becoming as benevolent as the great Sea Witch herself.  How very surprising.”  Floyd shrugs his shoulders, watching Riddle turn the Prefect in a spin.  Then he smiles at his twin, “I don’t know about that.  Maybe I was just thinking it would be far more fun to let him get attached more before I steal the Prefect away.”   Now it is Jade’s turn to smile, “I’ll look forward to it.”  The dance continued with smiles gracing the face of many a student; some lovestruck, some full of fun and others full of mischief.  Each one full of a promise of things to come.

I feel like the fandom perceives Doctor Andonuts more harshly than Itoi probably intended. Maybe a little more harshly than the character deserves. I'm always seein him discussed n' portrayed as if he's The Worst Dad Ever, And A Terrible Person Besides. Which is a pretty tall order in a series jam-packed full of shitty fathers and morally bankrupt characters. Maybe I just read him differently than most folks do? I dunno. I like him. I'll go to bat for him. Kooky old scientist thoughts (for both EB and M3) below.

Dropping Jeff off at boarding school and never visiting for 10 years is brutal, don't get me wrong. In the scene's context, though, it comes off more like an absurd comedic circumstance than a condemnation. Peak EarthBound shit. And while Jeff's scarcely "written" in the game, nothing about the way he's presented actually conveys a sense of abandonment or bitterness. (I like to imagine he's got a lotta bones to pick with his dad, but I think that's mostly in the realm of headcanon.) (Also, while Andonuts being his only family would make it objectively much worse, there's nothing in EarthBound to suggest Jeff doesn't have a mom, or other family members.) Mother's not exactly subtle when it's putting a father worthy of harsh judgment on the table. Aloysius and Wess come to mind. I do reckon if the Doctor was supposed to be presented as an irredeemable monster, Itoi would've really driven the point home. Instead of smothering the guy's dialogue in funny off-kilter quips. Like the bit with the donuts, and inviting Jeff to come back in 10 more years, and tellin his friends he wets the bed (how would Andonuts even know that?? is he thinking of when Jeff was a toddler?? lmao). He's a socially blundering absent father, and he stirs troubled sentiments, for sure. But he's definitely not outright malignant.

The thing is, there's reason to believe the guy's working on it. Jeff and Andonuts (and pals) go through a lot of shit together over the course of the game. By the end, Jeff expresses that he's very eager to spend time with his dad, get to know him better, work collaboratively with him. Presumably Andonuts feels the same, having finally bonded with his son through all these world-saving hijinks. It feels like a sweet little character arc to me. A reclusive scientist learns to value something beyond his own work, and begins to make amends by welcoming Jeff back into his life. Perhaps death-defying circumstances shifted his perspective, reminding him of what's most important? Even if you assume the worst of Andonuts earlier in the game, EarthBound's ending is really uplifting and hopeful for these two.

Which really makes his appearance in Mother 3 all the more tragic. Andonuts was willing at last to actually be there for his son, and then Porky had to go and yoink him outta the timeline. The Doctor explicitly says he's only working with Porky because he's been forced to - and he isn't thrilled about it in the slightest. After the chimera lab, he tells Lucas he's been inspired to escape. That he wants to devote his work to benefiting all living things, whatever that means! He's the guy who really "defeated" Porky, presumably planning the Capsule trap in secret all along. He doesn't even belong in this time or place, but damn if he's not finding ways to do good for the new world he's found himself in. Same way he devoted himself to the fight against Giygas, before.

The fact he's been torn away from his son (possibly irreconcilably?) doesn't come up, and god I wish it did. But considering how much extraneous dialogue's been cut from the game (and this would've definitely been extraneous)? If he'd said "gosh I sure wish I could see Jeff again" it'd draw specific attention to the displaced plight of Porky's timetravelers - thus, failing to resolve it would probably feel like a loose end. I can see how that might've been outta line with the narrative's scope. I'm not sure it's fair to infer the streamlined writing implies Andonuts forgot about Jeff, or doesn't care about him. Dude was never very expressive about his personal life EarthBound, anyways. Call it a headcanon of course, but imo, it seems more likely he's keeping his sorry sentiments to himself.

I just think Dr. Andonuts is a really interesting character, with a lot of potential. EarthBound gives us this clever play on the "funny kooky genius scientist" trope, asking how a guy like that might prioritize work over family. Has this deadbeat dad begin earning back his bond with his son. It ends on such a wholesome feel-good note! Then Mother 3 brings forth all these gutwrenching implications. The thought of Jeff stranded back in 199X (feeling confused, abandoned, possibly even betrayed??) breaks my fuckin' heart!! Andonuts being coerced to use his genius for evil, all the while plotting Porky's eternal imprisonment? A guy who directly contributed to saving the world from Giygas gets dropped into a post-apocalyptic Earth, finding out he'd only been delaying the "inevitable"? That humans would destroy themselves, possibly thanks to the technological advancements of people like him! Realizing his efforts to reconnect with Jeff might've been all in vain, that he may never make it home again! Vowing to do good for this world anyways?? Agh. And he's presented as just a quirky unflappable oddball old fart the whole time! To call him a good person would be dubious as hell, but damn if he's not fascinating.

i guess first of all, the kelly/kat drama. I know it's yet again Finn and Kat but I'm happy they're dealing with it in a different way (although if S5 is Suresh's island, I can't help but think S9 is Kat's island 🙄). but snog marry pie! Most of the girls (my MC included) choosing to kiss Hamish? It's like we all forget how bad a kisser he was in S6 like what happened. however, uhhh kinda worth it like I was initially intrigued about a Finn or Stefan route but Hamish is really coming in as a dark horse with chat like this (especially considering how sassy MC can be this season)

and the thing too is even though hes clearly changed bc they're making him a serious LI this season, there are several moments where I'm like yeah that's the same guy that had the audacity to ask S6 MC to run away with him at the end of S6

Then I played by rules like Chen, and chose a different person to snog, a different person to marry, a different person to pie. And then Hamish gets his little moment kissing and marrying MC, which kind of undermines the big moment which is his speech where he pies himself? like the talk on the terrace later this volume is great and I love the flirty banter between him and MC but he's so wishy washy about Natasha and it just doesn't really get addressed?

Kat's partner (in my game, Jude) is a whole mess. Like it'd be one thing if he's gonna be like "hey I'm sorry I was just defending Chen because I misinterpreted some stuff I thought you did" but it's another to do all that meanwhile he was also being shady about flirting with Melissa???

Then they call the incident Melgate bc... fusebox struck gold with Cherrygate and has been trying to recreate it ever since and has always failed. I never clicked the gem scene that would prompt Kat to tell you this story, and so I was so confused until they explained it in the next episode and that was so annoying. Then they do the thing (again!) where they like shame you for not being a friend (Kat's like "I tried to tell you"). this is worse than when you had an ugly dress and the girls were like God you look awful.

Jude being vague during the game was annoying bc i know theyre just stretching it out but also absolutely I could see that happening on the show where he's like "you know what you did. we'lltalk about it later" and it cuts to MC in the beach hut being like "judes being a real bitch. of course I know what I did but which time are you referring to"

Chen being constantly voted the sweetest during the challenge and then awards night is great but also just reminds me that his character is gonna be so vague from now on bc he's sharing a personality with three other guys. like its gonna hurt to break him but also he's not getting the care from the writing team that they've been giving the other routes so unfortunately he's boring rn 😬. doesn't even have the audacity to be mad just has to go away and think. And Chen just keeps taking L's too with MC (at least in my game) flirting with everyone and Jude in his ear saying MC can't be trusted. like if he twists in casa I'm not even sure if the audience would blame him (they would bc they love MC but ya knowww)

God don't remind me I'm missing not only missing actual litg season 2 but also what I have instead is Kat and Finn season 2

also with Natasha explaining more of what she did in casa on her original season has me making things up in my head bc you gotta be a pretty memorable casa girl for the game to pretend you're an all star but she didn't even make it to the actual villa so that's even harder to imagine, but I'm going to pretend she flirted with one of the guys while also sneaking behind his back with Roxy and people ate that up. then he tells her he wants to bring her to the villa and she rides off into the sunset with Roxy instead (or Roxy breaks her heart goes in the villa with a guy idk)

I'm starting to think Kat's gonna end up either with Finn or if MC is with Finn, then single but then we get a reunion episode and she reveals she's dating Finn's brother bc she has a TYPE (also wouldn't be out of the ordinary for fusebox bc of the grace/ozzy/marshall thing but it's still icky to me lol)

then lastly for brunch we got the first of TWO prompts this volume to lay to learn about your own backstory?? I mean no question I'm upset about paying for information but your OWN character??

OK but awards now. I feel like awards night is usually an end of season thing when the producers of the show have not much drama left bc the couples are solid and they want to throw in drama for the last week, but seeing as this is a game and they can just write in the finale whenever, I guess here is alright. (I wonder if that means no movie night then though?)

the clip they showed of Natasha? honestly, I respect her more for it. like idk she just seems more real than this perfect character flirting with MC all the time if she's venting to Hamish about also being sick of Kat and Finn or small things like Kelly taking long to get ready.

Here's where I did wish there was more branching like I think if you didn't do anything with Finn you should get a nice award, like about being loyal, while the clip still showed Finn being sneaky. like I don't doubt that if this were real, the producers of the show WOULD show the note and then getting cut off before MC realizing it's Finn and not her partner, but it's irritating to get blamed for that and even worse, MC does not get a real chance to defend herself, we just listen to everyone else's reactions.

anyway in my game MC should've been shown pieing off Finn at the pool and then Jude apologizing realizing he didn't understand what he saw. and then subsequently after show the clip of MC trying to kiss Finn at the shower and him rejecting her bc I personally loved that moment and I actually gasped when I thought they were gonna show it instead of cutting it off (bc again, not enough branching)

I did spend the gems on the second MC lore thing bc I was like ehh why not it's the end of the volume and like wow I get why I like s9 mc now, she's so Bobby coded 🤣

once again, I do appreciate the effort going into Hamish's route rn bc he has actual consequences and regrets for hooking up with Melissa and it getting exposed. OK maybe not actual consequences bc I think the game will just continue to pair up him and Natasha but the fact that there are some repercussions at all AND he gets to talk out his feelings and regrets about it with MC on the terrace after? And then he continues to show interest in MC and explain his reasons for not being with her and also the whole hi trying to look for validation from his dad? sorry Finn and Chen, the writers are playing favorites

I did not think we were getting casa lmao. there's no casa in the actual love island all stars and love island games so I was surprised but I'm curious about who the other boys are, if they're all gonna be international or are we gonna see at least one more UK islander? if Cassius is coming in during casa it feels like he's gonna be overshadowed and his route is probably merged with some international guys, which I guess makes enough sense like we didn't know him during season 7 anyway but I'm just curious.
