With the type of stories you like to write I really hope youre severly mentally ill or went through some severe trauma. Otherwise you have no excuse to write about those things.
hey anon, idk how to write this without sounding confrontational, but
making assumptions about a stranger's mental health,
framing potential mental illnesses or trauma as some form of prerequisite for the production of certain literary genres,
advocating for restraint in the intellectual exploration of taboo or disturbing topics,
and harassing people who don't share your opinions or whom you perceive to be amoral based on your personal taste or principles,
are all way worse behaviours than someone writing dark little stories for the fun of it.
there is no need for excuses when it comes to creating harmless art; people are allowed to make stuff without being subjected to the relentless scrutiny of countless internet strangers with ridiculous moral standards that only serve as a vessel for censorship.
so yeah, please stop your misguided "righteous" crusade and look up ways to curate your online experience in a way that prevents you from seeing things you don't enjoy, and please indulge in reading or doing something you actually like instead of sending odd little asks like this to random strangers :\
#💕#✒️#🧸#been getting a bunch of this type of messages lately so here we are -_-#this one was the weirdest one though. it almost sounds like anon would be happy to hear that yes. i am mentally ill and went through trauma#alas. it is what it is. all other messages of this nature shall be deleted from now on (unless they are really funny)#i just thought i'd take the time to reply to this one in hopes of hopefully reaching at least one person and let them see how weird this is

jeje, tsubaki, Lawless and The Mother as they call and nickname their S/O, I don't know how many characters you make, feel free to delete any character and this message if you have any problems :)
AKDJKAKA YESSS I love servamp so so much, I'm still reading it and trying to catch up and it's been a long while since then so it may not be entirely accurate but I hope you like it anon! Also sorry for this being so late :')
An- for the sake of simplicity and not complicating things too much, you, the reader, are their eve be it in the future of the manga or the past <3 except maybe tsubaki (maybe even present seeing their actual names and such but you know^^
Content warnings: slightly OOC, I have no clue how to write tsubaki but im trying :] Tsubaki's is also longer in trying to compensate for both being inhuman and human/his eve
Servamps and how they call and refer to their significant other! <3
Jeje / Doubt Doubt - servamp of envy
He doesn't talk much, and when he does it's quiet, almost like he never spoke to begin with.
This wasn't much of a problem when you were both first bonded, if he didn't or couldn't speak much, what makes you the authority to make him do so?
You were the exact opposite, you were VERY talkative and could fill the void of what his answers could be.
It used to mostly be one sided conversations that you partook in. He would either read or do some building some ship in a bottle while you talked about anything and everything that came to mind.
I like to headcanon that he knows sign language and converses with you that way, or if you're a bit too preoccupied or he needs a bit of space he'll leave you notes.
He doesn't mind verbally speaking to you when you're alone though, you never push to do one thing or the other.
He loves that about you and I would love to say he fell quickly but it's more likely that he fell for you slowly but what he lacked in speed he sure made up for in how he sure did fall the hardest.
He's not huge on pet names, I'm sure he does throw in the occasional "dear" or if he's feeling particularly smitten, "sweetheart"
He knows he doesn't do this much, and he knows the effect it has on you and you can practically hear the teasing in his voice and writing when he does.
Of course he does eventually start using petnames more and more often without realizing it but not in the cute loving kind of way.
He lovingly calls you a leech, not in a mean way and you know that so he doesn't stop but would if you asked him to.
He also loves to compliment you using metaphors instead of actual names like "you are of a fungus, your poison, although deadly, keeps me reeled in." And despite how odd it sounds you keep any notes of these he's left safely tucked away.
Lawless / Hyde - Servamp of Greed
He.doesn't.shut.up
It took forever for him to trust you and for you to trust him, because although he seemed nice and kind, you knew better than to trust the blood that stained his hands.
The blood of his eve's before you.
But that didn't deter you, you just wanted to keep both of you at an okay distance that would keep both of you happy.
That distance is purely metaphorical thought because he is GRABBY.
I feel as though he would call you nicknames before you even got into a relationship but over time you could hear how they went from more of a teasing nature to something more genuine.
These petnames were also few and far between, he finds saying your name (and you saying his given name) to be such an intimate verbal act, but he doesn't mind indulging in petnames, of course there's always that one particular nickname he often switches out for your actual name but it really isn't a nickname) but
When he does call you pet names, he probably calls you the most WEIRDEST things in the form of pet names that make no sense in context and are probably more so jokes than actual pet names
"Gumwad went to the laundry mat and left me here AAAAALLLLL alone" -Hyde talking to the other servamps probably
Gumwad referring to you
Obviously
He's not too fond of being referred to by a nickname unless he trusts you entirely but even then, simply calling him by the name you gave him is enough, doesn't mind the occasional pet name though (:
The Mother / Freya - Servamp of wrath
As you probably know, she is probably the sweetest servamp you can find. Although the others have their own quirks that make them admirable, you find that her unconditional kindness is what drew you two closer.
It almost unnerved you how calm she could be, even during times when you royally screwed up. You expected her to be upset, give you the silent wrath, disappointment even! But when she simply knelt down to you asking if you were okay, you realized you may have misunderstood her, you couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt for assuming.
When you two get closer and closer and eventually become a couple she isn't quick to change how she is
Because she probably already dotes on you let's be real
Like her name suggests, she is motherly and caring so I don't doubt she would call you "dear" or "hun" before, mostly in times of stress where either one of you needed forms of comfort.
She probably calls you her dove or the "apple of her eye" later on though, maybe even "My flame" when cuddling.
She loves the warmth you give, it's a warmth she herself rarely feels but is always ready to give.
Your face always flushes into an unbearable shade of red and you feel the room around you raising in temperature.
She is very casual about it though, only ever reserving them for when you two are private (i.e: not near her nosy siblings, she loves them but they can be quite... Troublesome)
She isn't too outlandish with affection but she isn't too prudent with it either, it's instead a warm healthy middle ground.
She absolutely malfunctions if you call her an endearing pet name though, like I mean she just absolutely dies
She can't take the medicine she dishes out smh 😔
Nicknames are nothing too special In her eyes, it's just another way to refer to the one you love, right?
Tsubaki - Servamp of Melancholy
This guy is a fifty-fifty
It really just depends because from what I can grasp on his character, you're probably not his eve, but his subclass.
If you are his eve, somehow, it would take a LONG LONG time for him to not try and kill you.
As far as I'm aware, he hates humans. So for simplicity, you're a subclass or maybe like.. an inhuman friend turned significant other
The how and why isn't important what is important is that when he cares about you, he - c a r e s (cares)
He uses petnames like sweetheart, darling, etc. The gushy kind that, with his personality, is hard to tell between teasing and seriousness.
He isnt one to show public displays of affection but, similar to his elder sister, is one to show it in a private setting.
A vulnerability that only you and his subclasses get to see
He doesn't have an opinion on petnames for himself, he doesn't mind them, but he certainly prefers to hear you speak his name far more.
If you were human/his eve he'd probably call you a pin cushion or a flesh bag, you know... The usual.
It also takes a long time for him to warm up to you and when he does you are officially given the honorary title of "one of the good ones"
Ones referring to mortal flesh bags such as yourself of course
If you were his eve he'd definitely go "Oh yeah they're my eve-" with an attitude but sooner or later it becomes more sweet and genuine
He'd probably treat you similar to his subclasses if not with a little bit more respect (from what I've read, he holds them dearly)
As the youngest and forgotten sibling of 8 servamps, he'd probably try his best to keep you in mind when coming up with his schemes
----------
I will probably rewrite this or make a part two of it being a modern AU but this has been in my ask box for forever and I need practice with writing the servamp characters. Sorry anon this took so long with very little in return <3

Sleepovers Aren't Always One Night
🐸 anon asked me for a part 2 to The World's Weirdest Sleepover I wasn't totally sure what to do, but slow day at work and I'm happy to deliver
Sleepovers Aren't Always One Night
You were comfortable, too comfortable. You snapped open your eyes terrified to see the huge chest in front of you. The fingers around you felt like a cage. You started to panic and those immovable columns came closer. A scream died in your throat as you looked up to the face of the human holding you.
"Are you alright?" They asked. Their voice was thick with sleep. Dark eyes barely aware that slowly seemed to wake up. "Hey, what's wrong?"
You were frozen as they moved you from their chest. Your brain was fuzzy. You were warm and cold all at once. Sleeping in the human's hold was starting to feel better. Those eyes were alert now, but filled with worry.
"D-don't-" you tried. Your throat hurt, as though you had nothing to drink for days. The human moved you closer, pressed your face to their lips. You tried to push away, but your body wouldn't move.
"You're warm, probably too warm," they whispered. Their breath washed over you feeling weirdly good. The human pulled you away to look at you, concern on their face so clearly overwhelming.
They moved you again, holding you to their chest. You listened to the racing heart beneath the wall of skin. You couldn't understand why they would be like this, you were getting tired. You felt like this recently. Like it would be easier to sleep. You went to someone you could trust before you did that though. That was for a you that was more awake to think about. The human already caught you there wasn't a reason to fight off this feeling.
"Shit, shit, shit," the human was cursing. You could barely remember what happened. Your body was aching, had they done that? You couldn't stop a groan that made your throat burn.
"What's wrong?" You croaked. The human was hovering above you immediately, it was almost a relief. It felt like that dream from the night that it was too cold came back.
"You're awake." They smiled, it felt calming and terrifying all at once. You tried to sit up, but huge fingers were next to you as you started to move. "Take it easy, it seems like you have a bad fever. Guess we couldn't get through the cold with no consequences. Let me help you up ok?"
You nodded, expecting fingers to pull you up. Instead they just hovered nearby waiting. You started to pull yourself up, the huge fingertips merely pressed against you to help lift you up. A few fingers sat behind you leaving you leaning back. Sitting up was hard. The human brought over something else and left it near you. They dipped a spoon into it and brought it close.
"You have to drink something, can you manage it?" They asked. You felt your throat burn when you swallowed, you had to manage it. You shuffled a bit to sit up straighter before leaning towards the spoon. You slowly lifted an arm to scoop some of the liquid to your lips. The second it hit your throat you became greedy taking all you could. "Hey it's ok to take it slow. There's plenty, it's not going away."
You nodded as they spoke. The dreamy night in the cold had nothing on this. Your mind was making this human too kind, it would hurt when you woke up alone. You took slower drinks until you couldn't stomach anymore. The human put the spoon in the larger object and left it alone.
"Can you tell me how you're feeling? You're still really warm, but anything else?" They asked. Their voice sounded frazzled. You never heard the human like this in all the years you lived with them. Your imagination was too good it seemed.
"Throat hurts, head fuzzy… sad," you murmured. It was easier to talk now. The not quite water helped a lot. The human furrowed their brows, it looked a bit funny to you.
"Why are you sad?" Their voice was quieter than you remember ever hearing it. You knew it was a dream, but it felt nice having your imaginary human care so much. You were feeling tired again, your dream would keep you safe.
"This is a dream, I'll wake up alone again." You didn't have anything to hide from your own dream. The human's face softened before they placed a hand flat next to you.
"Then let's keep you comfortable in this dream, ok?"
You smiled and climbed on the offered hand. You knew even in a dream you should be cautious, but this human was taking care of you. It was ok to let go and live in a dream sometimes, wasn't it? Their hand was warm, you nearly collapsed into it. Their fingers longer than you folded over you to keep you shielded from the world.
"Get some rest, I'll keep the dream going for as long as you want," they whispered. You smiled and curled up a bit tighter under their fingers.
"Thank you…" you said.
The next day you had similar interactions. You'd wake up and this vivid dream would help you. They gave you warm food and something they said should help. They let you stay in their hand the whole time. You wondered if human hands could really be quite so soft.
It was the third day that you woke up with a clearer mind. You could recall the blissful dream of someone taking care of you, no worry that you were burdening someone. That someone was in danger for you. You wished it could be real, but you hadn't spoken to the human since the breakfast after the sleepover.
You started to sit up, freezing at the feeling around you. It was softer than anything in your home. You slowly looked around to truly take in your surroundings. You were in the human's room again, on their bed. You jumped up causing a wave of dizziness. You tried to push it aside.
You had to get down, but you didn't have your things. You looked around, there was nothing to help you get down close by. You stumbled towards the edge, hoping for something soft on the floor.
You were knocked off your feet by the tremors around the house. They were light, but you were in no condition to stand your ground. You looked up, finding the door of the room wide open. The human had to be coming back. You tried to rush back to the spot you woke up, but the growing tremors made it hard.
You were forced to sit and stare at the door as the towering form walked in. The dark eyes found you immediately. That just made the human move faster and come closer. Their steps made you bounce, you were only more scared now. The human fell in front of you, this time launching you up. Their hand caught you, there was no escape.
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize I did that when moving around," they said. You tried not to show how scared you were, they seemed to know anyway. "Don't worry, I'm just a dream right? I won't hurt you."
"Wh-what?!" You yelled. That… that was what the human you imagined said. The one who had taken care of you. Their eyes widened before they slowly lowered their hand. They bypassed the bed and went straight to the floor. You knew they were angry and didn't try to run once their fingers flattened.
"That reaction makes me think you're feeling a lot better, you don't have to stay here. I don't think you brought anything with you the other night, but if I'm wrong just let me know." They had a sad smile. You didn't understand, they should be annoyed. Getting sick brought trouble and they even stayed with you for so long.
"I-I'm sorry, it won't happen again!" You tried to hop to your feet, but a new wave of dizziness had you falling back down. The dark eyes filled with worry came close, but their hand stayed firmly on the ground. You could leave.
"You got sick, it's ok to need some help. Honestly I'm glad you asked for a sleepover before it got that bad. I couldn't really take your temperature, but you were burning."
You didn't remember asking to sleep with them. The last thing you really remembered was feeling too warm in your home. You couldn't imagine why you would have come here. Unless it was that safe feeling, a hope it would happen again. The pad of one of their fingers brushed against your face.
"Are you sure you're alright to go back? I'm still worried, it seems like your fever just broke," they said. You looked past their finger to their eyes dripping with worry. You shook your head.
"I… I'm not sure. Getting sick can usually be a death sentence, especially like that. I don't even remember coming to you," you admitted.
You expected the human to dump you off their hand. You had burdened them for days, and now admitted it's because you were weak. The hand holding you moved up quickly yet carefully. You were pressed against their chest, a dull thud beneath you. Faintly you remembered the sound of it racing, the fear from somewhere you couldn't place.
"It doesn't have to be anymore. You weren't a burden, I was happy to take care of you," they said. Their voice sounded different, like it was shattering. "I'll be honest, when I woke up and you were looking up at me terrified I thought I'd hurt you. When I brought you close and felt your fever I thought the world would shatter. I didn't want to lose you when I only just got to talk to you."
The human let out a shaky sigh. The sound felt painful to hear again. You could remember the tear stained face and pain they were barely letting out when you last heard it. You never learned why they were like that, but you did break a rule that day. You'd stolen an extra paper star they made a long time ago. You left it somewhere they'd find it, the smile when they did made the risk worth it.
"I… thank you for taking care of me, is it ok if I come back if I get sick again?" You asked. Your own voice was almost too quiet. The thudding heart picked up and the human pulled you away. You were left staring at their face with tears rolling down their cheeks. They smiled through them, they smiled at you.
"I thought I'd have to ask for you to trust me like that again," they smiled. They leaned forward and pressed their forehead against you. It was unbelievable how all encompassing they were when mixed with the kindness they continued to show you. "Please let me help you whenever you need it, I want to know you."
"...ok… I want to know you too…" The human moved again, pulling you down. They held you close and that heartbeat filled your ears. This time you even caught the smell of their soap as they only held you more firmly. You didn't feel like those impossible fingers would get tighter, that they would hurt you.
"Thank you…"

four times steve harrington knew he loved you and the one time he told you (steve harrington x henderson!reader)
a/n: for anon. this is my longest fic so far. i worked real hard on this. i really like it. word count: 2.6k warnings: violence, language
5. 1975
Steve didn’t know what love was. All he knew is that his parents didn’t have it. Crushes were a different story, but Steve wanted to know what love was.
You knew what love was, it was your mom making you your favorite meal after a big test. It was your brother smiling at you, even though he was toothless. Love was your cat purring when you pet her. But you never knew romantic love, not with your parents or yourself.
Moving to Hawkins had changed your life. You had some friends back home, but this place? No one wanted to be friends with you. Nine-year-olds were brutal. Though at school there was one boy, who, even at nine, had established himself as quite the ladies man. But he seemed sweet, no matter how much of a jerk he could be sometimes.
At recess one day it all changed, for both of you.
The swing set creaked in the wind, it’s cold metal seat under you, bending under your weight. A group of rowdy boys ran past you, and one, ran directly into you. Tumbling face forward into the concrete you yelped in surprise, your face stinging. Blinking back tears you suddenly become aware of the boy behind you, who wanted to help.
“Are you okay?” his oddly timid voice sounded.
“Yeah, I’m good.” you turned to him, “Is it bad?” you questioned as he grimaced.
“Um, I think you’ll be okay. But I’ll take you to go get some band-aids.” he kicked a loose rock on the concrete, “I’m sorry.”
“No worries.” you stood up, realizing your knees were cut too.
Steve quickly stuck his arm out and wrapped his hand around your bicep, helping keep you steady. A teacher who was wondering haphazardly around called over, “Mr. Harrington! Where are you taking Ms. Henderson?”
The young boy looked at the teacher, dumbfounded, “To get some band-aids.” Couldn’t he see all the blood?
“No, she can do it herself. It’s not a man's job to care.” all Steve heard was his dad, and he didn’t have the courage to stand up to his dad, but he did to his teacher. He knew what was right.
“She needs help.” he stated, flat out. Steve didn’t understand what was wrong with helping you.
Now, you were uncomfortable in this stare off with the teacher, Steve’s grip becoming tighter. The teacher locked eyes with Steve, “You help her I’ll give you detention.”
Steve gulped knowing his dad would yell at him, but you, a person, needed help. Leaning over you whispered, “Go,” to him. He shouldn’t get in trouble for helping you.
“No.” he said firmly, helping you walk inside, the teacher screaming about his detention or whatever. The boy seemed unbothered, you admired it.
“Okay, well thank you.” you squeaked out. You knew he was probably only helping you because he bumped into you, but part of you wanted it to be different, and maybe it was.
He helped you into the school and into an empty bathroom, Steve was not the smartest per se, but he knew to clean the cuts. Which there were a lot of. “Steve,” he looked down at you from where he was cleaning a cut on your forehead, “Why did you do this?”
Steve looked adorably confused at you, “Do what?”
“Help me. Was it because you bumped me?”
He took a deep breath, thinking, “No, you deserve to be helped, you’re nice Y/N. And, yes, I hit you, but, you shouldn’t have to help your self up.”
You stared ahead, feeling something, feeling loved.
Steve wondered what this was. Why did he help you? Maybe, just maybe, because he loved you.
4. 1983
Who knew what was going on anymore? You had no idea where your brother was, and some reason you were with Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers, trying to summon his brother or something. Not that you would ever admit it, but you were truly terrified, lights flashing around you, yelling, fake bodies. You didn’t know what to do. The world was coming apart at its seams. Nancy, Jonathan, and you sat in the Byers house on the couch, shaking, worried about what would happen next. The weapons in your hands were clutched tightly, ready for action.
No one dared speak, when a knock came at the door. Startling all of you out of your skin. Nancy jumped up pointing her gun at the door. The banging on the door continued, when you heard, “Jonathan, man! I’m sorry! And I feel terrible! I wanna help!”
“Steve!” Nancy hissed quietly.
Jonathan walked up and swung open the door to stop the incessant banging. Steve practically falling into the house, but he quickly straightened up, seeing Nancy point her gun squarely at him. Steve raised his hands quickly above his head, “Hey, Nance, I’m sorry! You don’t have to kill me-”
“Steve get out.”
“I’m just here to talk to Byers.”
“Nancy, put the gun down!” you shouted at her.
Steve’s head whipped to you, his eyes widened, “Y/N! What are you doing here? Holy shit!”
No matter what Steve said to you, you didn’t look at him, knowing you’d get distracted by his stupidly perfect hair and crooked grin. Instead, you continued to walk slowly toward Nancy, “Put the gun down.” she was shaking, conceivably using every muscle in her body to get Steve out. To help him.
The lights started flashing irregularly, that’s when Jonathan started yelling. “Nancy! Stop it!” almost like she was in a trance, she snapped out, “He’s here.”
Steve’s eyes widened, “Who’s here? What’s here? What’s going on?”
At that moment it burst through the walls, the same thing you and Nancy saw in the Upside Down. They went to run to the back room, but you tripped, Nancy and Jonathan were already running, and Steve who was behind them stopped, and looked at you, and without hesitating, ran back to you. Grabbing your arms and lifting you up, helping you off the hard floor and clasping your hand, guiding you quickly into the back bedroom.
He kept holding your hand in the dark, your backs pressed against the door. Once you realized you were holding his hand, you hastily let go. Looking across the room at the blank wall, you remembered years ago, Steve helping you up, selflessly. And once again he was ready to save you.
Steve looked at you, shoulders pressed against each other, you looked amazing, and you were brave. But, Nancy, he had slept with Nancy, and they were something, hopefully. And at the moment, he realized there was something he felt for you that he didn’t feel when he thought of Nancy. But, now was not the time for that. If he told himself he loved Nancy, he would feel that eventually. So sure, he loved Nancy, he didn’t care about you. Never would. But part of Steve knew he was in deep shit.
3. 1984
Oh boy, you were a part of this mess from the start. You should’ve known it wasn’t going to go well from the second Dustin said that he had found a ‘lizard’. But that wasn’t even the weirdest part of it all. It wasn’t Billy. It wasn’t Eleven suddenly showing up again. It was, at least for you, Steve Harrington. Not him, but the way he was acting. He was acting, sweet? Steve was attempting to give your brother shitty dating advice which you had to cut into, saying “Just don’t ignore her. I mean, girls like some attention.”
Dustin looked back at you and questioned, “How many boyfriends have you had?”
You slapped his shoulder, “Shut up.” you grumbled.
Steve shrugged, “I mean, you are the girl here.”
“Thank you for the acknowledgement.”
“But are you?”
“Dustin shut up!” Steve looked at you with a face that if anyone saw they could only categorize as lovingly. But as soon as he saw Dustin smirking at him, he turned away, flustered, tripping over a stick on the path. Steve was confronted with remembering thinking, that he couldn’t care about you. Nancy was there. And while, yes, he grew to love Nancy, she didn’t love him. And that’s not her fault, but Nancy had broken his heart, and for the first time in quite sometime, his heart felt complete, and it was because of you. Not that he would tell you. Steve was content, for the first time in a long time, to sit back, and fall in love slowly. But, truly, deeply in love. Farther than he thought he could ever feel.
2. 1984
You had all recovered, somewhat, from what had happened. And life returned to a sense of normalcy. But that morning Dustin woke up, practically bouncing around the house, for the Snowball dance that night. You were chaperoning, so you had to look marginally good. But, what you weren’t prepared for was Steve Harrington coming over to help your brother get ready.
Hiding in your room getting ready, you heard a knock at the door, Dustin racing downstairs, and the unmistakable voice of Steve. While it was definitely nice to hear Dustin this happy, you realized that Steve would see you like this and that was not ideal right now.
You could hear the two of them walking upstairs and the voices getting closer, then a loud bang on your door, “Steve’s here! And we’ll have to go soon!”
You could hear Steve say quietly behind him, “The dance is in an hour and a half.”
“Okay and an hour and a half!”
“Alright Dusty!”
You turned your attention back to the mirror, and you heard Steve say, “Dusty? I’m gonna use that one.” the smirk was evident in his voice. That was followed quickly by a loud “Ow!” guessing Dustin hit him.
As you finished your makeup you couldn’t help but wonder why you had a new pit of anxiety in your stomach now that Steve was here. Why did that change the dance so much? What was it about him?
~~~~
Sure enough, an hour and a half later, as promised, Dustin was banging on your door. You could hear Steve hyping Dustin up, telling him how great he looked, and how all the girls will dance with him. And taking one last deep breath, you opened your door and walked downstairs. Steve was absolutely in awe of you. Steve knew he was over Nancy Wheeler, you were so wonderful, smart, and beautiful. God, he thought you were the most heavenly creature, and he didn’t believe in God. You walked shakily on the godforsaken heels to Dustin where you smirked at him. “Nice hair.”
“Thanks, it’s pretty cool.” he nodded slowly trying to be cool.
Steve was still gaping at you, “Uh, you, um, ready to go?”
Dustin giggled at Steve’s red face, and you answered, “Yeah, thanks by the way.” He just awkwardly nodded, shoving a free hand in his pocket, the other opening the door, you called out to your mom, “Mom we’re going!”
“Alright kids, have fun!” she called back from the kitchen.
You guys shuffled out of the house and began the awkward drive to the school.
~~~~
Once you guys arrived you and Steve began the final pep talk for Dustin. “Alright, now remember, you want to care but not to much.”
You stopped Steve, “But do care.”
“Not to much.”
Leaning forward you retorted, “He’s not going to by her a house or something.”
“I’m just saying!” he threw up his hands in defense, “All the girls are gonna love you, I mean,” he stopped for a minute, “you look great!”
“Yeah! Looking great!” you attempted to back him up.
“They won’t be able to resist me with these pearls.” he purred and both of you began a chorus of ‘No’ and ‘Don’t do that’.
He got out of the car and looked back at you, “Are you coming?”
“I’ll be in a minute.” Steve’s eyes widened realizing he was in a car, alone, with you. “Thank you, Steve.”
“Oh it’s no problem-”
You cut him off promptly, “I mean for everything. This year, last year, you’ve really changed. In a good way,” looking into his sweet, brown eyes, you smiled, “I really appreciate you.”
“It’s the right thing to do, plus, I was an asshole. It was a real low bar.”
You laughed softly, “I’m going to go, but I think you should come in and dance with me.”
Steve’s stomach flipped when you said to dance with you. You wanted him to come. With you. “I wouldn’t want to-”
“Please.” he couldn’t resist your pleading eyes.
“Sure.” Steve was very busy trying to hide his smile while stepping out of the car.
You slid out of the backseat the Dustin had forced you into, and as soon as you stepped out onto your heels you tripped and began to fall. But someone's arm wrapped around your waist and pulled you back up. Steve.
“Thank you.” you replied breathlessly, “I’ve gotta stop falling around you.” you made a lame attempt at a joke.
He let go, and you walked in a little bit ahead of him, and under his breath he whispered, “I’ve already fallen for you.” no matter how cheesy he might sound.
Steve Harrington loved you.
1. 1985
All you wanted was ice cream. You didn’t want to end up taking care of two teenagers high on Russian truth serum. Trying to keep Robin and Steve collected when they’re not high is difficult enough. Robin was at the absolute goofiest you’ve ever seen her and Steve, oh, Steve. Over the past year you had harbored an extreme crush on the idiot. However, this was just sad. You were glad they were alive, but this was definitely the finale of any part of his old personality. You sat with Robin and Steve in the movie theater, Steve bopping your nose continuously. “Boop!” you grabbed his hand and moved it away from your face.
“Shush.”
He dropped his head onto your shoulder, and he looked up at you with his chocolate brown eyes, “You’re pretty,” he whispered, smiling like an idiot.
“Thank you.” you whispered back, trying to act stern even as your stomach erupted in butterflies. All of a sudden Robin rushed out of the theater, mumbling something about water. You followed, Steve stumbling after you, he gripped your arm again and leaned into your side when he said to you;
“I’m in love with you.”
You stopped in your tracks, Steve going on without you, a stupid smile on your face. Then it hit you, he’s high. It’s not him. You shook your head to rid the idea of Steve loving you. And you walked after him. Steve and Robin were drinking water manically when you got out of the theater. Both talking nonsense about Back to the Future.
You stood, leaning against the wall. Looking lovingly at Steve. In their haze they stared nonsensically at the ceiling. Suddenly running to the bathroom, you ran after them.
The two of them were curled over toilets, throwing up. You sat back, feeling horrible for what they had to endure.
After what you can only describe as traumatic sickness, the three of you sat on the floor in stalls, Robin leaned her head onto your shoulder, and you spoke to Steve, knowing you couldn’t say it to his face. “Do you mean what you said, Steve?”
Somehow in his mind, Steve knew what he admitted, “Yes.” he answered quietly. “Yes, I love you.” Robin smiled at you. And you felt hopeful, “Did I overstep?”
“No,” Robin nodded her head quickly telling you to keep talking, “I, uh, I love you too.”
Steve slid under the wall and next to you in the stall, “I would kiss you right now, but I just threw up.”
“I got that.”
“I’ll make it up to you soon enough.”
“You two are disgusting,” Robin said, smiling at the display of two people obviously in love next to her.

A Day In The Sun
pairing: MARCO x fem!Reader
word count: 3.3k
summary: You left the Moby Dick to go on a solo mission, from which you would never return. Two years later, when hope seemed to have drained out, a loud rubber boy appears, leading the way back to your family.
highlight: ¨I guess he´s not coming, so... tell Marco I will always love him.¨
warnings: angst, MARINEFORD spoilers
notes: This was an anon request for a ¨ [as angsty as possible] Marco with a fem!S/O who left the Moby Dick a year or two before and then they ran into each other by accident somewhere¨. I really hope you like it!♡ I feel like I chose an easy path with Marineford, so maybe I´ll try this one more time with a non-canon plot. The angst, tho, the angst!
𝕷𝖊𝖆𝖛𝖊 𝖈𝖔𝖒𝖒𝖊𝖓𝖙𝖘, 𝖗𝖊𝖖𝖚𝖊𝖘𝖙𝖘, 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖑𝖔𝖛𝖊!
☩
You watched the guard check the chains for the fourth time with an amused grin on your face. He pulled it, hit it, and almost wet his pants with the effort.
The funnier part was that he did all of that while trying to stay as far from you as possible.
¨So, am I getting company?¨ no answer, just a glance and a drop of sweat falling down his temple ¨Will you tell me who´s my guy?¨ he ignored you again and left.
A few minutes later, you heard the lame sound of chains echoing throughout the cold walls. You had a minute to process the silent and compliant steps before the rest of the prisoners started to yell wildly.
You observed the shadow of your new cellmate projected onto the filthy floor. Then his dirty feet when he walked by you, giving yourself the trouble to look up only when he took a seat while the guards locked him.
You let out a disdained scoff and waited for ¨privacy¨ to talk to him. He, on the other hand, never bothered to look up.
¨I would offer you something to eat, but as you can see, my hands are tied.¨ you shook the chains, hoping that the distasteful joke would make the man lift his head.
But he showed no reaction to your words. Instead, he remained leaned forward with his head down.
You snorted heavily.
¨You know, I was kind of hoping to be the only Whitebeard pirate around here.¨
That was more than enough to make him face you. His narrowed eyes watched you for a moment, trying to recollect your features in his memory.
¨Oh, come on. Did I really change that much?¨
¨Y/N!¨ he shouted and tried to fight the strains.
¨How are you doing, Flame boy?¨
☩
The heart beating inside of your chest felt like it was going to jump out of your mouth at any moment. Although you were sweating, all of the ice around you made you wish you had more clothes.
How could you be cold and sweating at the same time?
Everyone had their eyes on you. Well, not only you. But the entire troupe that fell from the sky altogether with a marine warship, the weirdest circus freaks brought directly from Impel Down. Your home for the last two years.
As soon as Luffy stepped on the ice field and started to attack marines in order to reach Ace, the real beginning of the battle began to seethe in Marineford.
You joined your fugitives comrades and jumped out the ship, but differently than the straw hat boy, you ran to the opposite side. Dodging every marine in your way to get to the Moby Dick.
Whitebeard looked at you like a proud father and let out his legendary ´Gurarara´ laugh while the Commanders stared at you as if you were a ghost.
Not that you didn´t actually look like one. Even for them, who always considered you to be one of the prettiest women they have ever seen, you looked a little bit mistreated.
Your hair was dirty and messy, your always radiant skin was dry, and the bags under your eyes were deeper and darker.
If it wasn´t for the look in your eyes, they wouldn´t have recognized you.
The spark and shine remained stoic. The will to live and to fight remained standing strong, even though the rest of you seemed to be brumbling apart.
Marco stood on Pops' right side, still showing the same anger in his eyes as when you said that you were leaving the Whitebeard Pirates. But you couldn´t focus on that. You were too busy trying not to get killed to care about his attitude.
And more importantly, you were so happy.
Every night for two years, you prayed for the chance to see them again, to brew saké among your family, and laugh in their companies. It was so close you could feel it in your fingertips.
¨Daughter, you don´t look healthy.¨ Whitebeard said when you reached the ship.
¨I guess feeding me wasn´t on the top of their list of priorities, Pops.¨ you laughed.
¨And I suppose you met the troublemaker over there.¨
¨We were cellmates, can you believe it?¨ Marco peeped into your conversation, trying to look like he didn´t care ¨He was updating me on the current Whitebeard Pirate´s activities. Said you got yourself some pretty cute nurses.¨
You elbowed him slightly in the leg, and the Emperor gave his staccato laugh you missed so much.
¨Daughter,¨ he spoke more serious ¨I know it´s a lot to ask of you right now... but we need to get that boy outta here. You´re in?¨
¨Have you forgotten who I am, Pops?¨ He smirked, already knowing your answer ¨ Of course, I´m in.¨
You looked each commander in the eyes, in a silent agreement that when this madness was over, you would answer all their questions. When they looked back at you, nothing had changed. For them, you were still the same Y/N from years ago.
☩
¨I can´t believe Pops wants to keep that brat.¨
¨We should have him thrown off of the ship.¨
¨You should cook him for dinner, Thatch!¨
You couldn´t hold the smile bending on your lips when you heard the Division Commanders talking about the rookie Pops had brought onboard.
The kid had been trying to kill him for a while now. Even Jinbe had to step in and engaged in a 5-day battle with the young pirate. That, for some reason, got Whitebeard´s interest.
You felt a warm hand embrace yours and turned to see the First Division Commander take his seat on your side. You smiled when he leaned over and gave you a habitual kiss, the kind you share when you wake up in the morning or when you meet up in the halls.
But your heart ached behind your smile. Because, although it was something usual for him, something that he would do thousands of times for the rest of his life, for you, it could be the last.
You were about the destroy everything you two had and break his heart.
But you were out of options. You knew that, and so did Whitebeard.
When the first part of the meeting ended, and Pops had explained his motives to want to keep the hot-headed boy, someone questioned him about the second topic they needed to discuss. The one he kept as a secret even from Marco.
Your heart pounded faster, and your face heated. Whitebeard frowned and gestured something, giving you the word. The weight of the sixteen commanders staring at you made you shrug and hold Marco´s hand tighter.
¨Y/N?¨ he called you with a tone of concern in his voice.
You just avoided making eye contact with him. You couldn´t face him.
¨I, uh...¨ you raised your head and stuffed your chest. You had to be cold. ¨I-I am going on a solo mission... and I am not coming back.¨
The room went totally silent for a few seconds before they began to bombard you with questions and inquires, to which you could not respond. Marco, on the other hand, remained speechless, waiting for you to tell him that it was a joke.
¨I, uh...¨ someone interrupted you ¨I am leaving tomorro-¨ another Commander cut you ¨... tomorrow morni-¨
The blast of Whitebeard´s cleaving blade hitting the floor made all of you shut.
¨The decision was made!¨ his thunderous voice cracked the wooden walls ¨And blessed.¨
Marco shot up, his chair met the floor in a loud thud. ¨Pops, you approved this?!¨
¨Son...¨ the First Division Commander scowled and started to walk out of the room.
You reached him and held his hand to stop him. He turned, staring at you furiously.
¨Marco...¨
¨Why, yoi?!¨
You shook your head, not being able to tell him what he wanted to know. Tears began to fill your eyes when he pulled his hand from your grip and left the room.
A single tear made its way down your cheek and you quickly wiped it. You couldn't turn back on your decision. Even if that made the love of your life hate you.
¨Y/N...¨ Thatch touched your arm softly ¨Are you in trouble?¨
You attempted to give him your best warm smile.
¨When am I not in trouble, Thatchy?¨
The next day when you were saying goodbye to your family, everyone was there, even the Fire-Fist boy.
Everyone but the person you needed the most to be there.
Every Commander hugged you tight, saying that if you ever decided to come back, your chair among them would be waiting.
You tried to hold your tears in the beginning, but that became an impossible task.
Pops held you close to his chest and suffered with you, for he knew the sacrifice you were about to make. And even a man like him couldn´t avoid it.
His voice roared through the four Blues when he declared, loud and clear, that you were his daughter and would be forever a Whitebeard pirate.
¨I love you guys. I love you, Pops.¨ you looked around, searching for your boyfriend ¨I guess he´s not coming, so... tell Marco I will always love him.¨
When you stood alone on the seashore, you waited. You waited until the Moby Dick disappeared on the horizon. You waited for Marco to have a change of heart and fly over to you, saying that he loved you and he would miss you.
But he never did.
☩
What happened was that you were a little rusted.
You got tired faster and weren´t as agile as before. So you preferred to keep yourself out of the line of fire, where you would disturb more than help. Your job was to back up the Division Commanders and make sure they would keep a clean path for Ace´s brother.
You wanted to be thrilled with the adrenaline of a battlefield, but you were scared. Every time Whitebeard stopped and put his hand on his chest, you feared.
That was the reason why you turned yourself in in the past, the reason why you didn´t ask him to fight for you.
He saved as much energy as possible for this war, but you knew he had started to die the minute he disconnected himself from the life support.
¨What are you up to, old man?¨ you mumbled to yourself.
Before you could do or think anything else, a sharp scream took your attention. Kizaru hit Marco with laser beams, and you noticed another Marine Officer approaching him with sea stone cuffs.
You grabbed a gun and ran towards them. Even rusted, you were incredibly fast. With an impulse, you jumped and grabbed Marco by the collar, shooting the marine with Haki-imbued bullets.
But again, too late.
Perhaps years ago, you would have been able to prevent this from happening, but at that moment, all you could do was get him out of Kizaru's sight, causing his laser to hit you in the thigh.
You turned in the air, changing your position so that he fell on you when you landed. In that battle, his life was worth more than yours, and it was your duty to offer support to the Commanders - your Commander, especially. His body had already gone through a lot of stress, and the sea stone handcuffs prevented him from using his powers.
You tried to muffle the scream when you hit the floor.
¨You ok?¨ you asked.
With so much of a glimpse he put himself to his feet, ignoring you and the blood he spilled before running back to the mess.
From that moment on, the situation got really bad, really quick. You went berserk, killing the marines like a freaking calamity. Your thigh was gushing blood, deep gashes covered your body, and your heart was torn apart.
Because despite all of your effort and sacrifice, the mission failed.
You didn´t see what had happened, but the person you were supposed to rescue, Ace, the Second Division Commander, was dead on the floor. And his brother was having a breakdown.
Ace had a peaceful smile on his face, and you thought that it would have been nice to get to know him better. From the days you shared a cell, you understood why Pops wanted to keep him. He was a pretty nice guy, after all.
☩
¨And how did you end up here?¨ Ace asked you.
¨Remember the solo mission thing?¨ he nodded, and you gave him a ´ta-dah face.
Suddenly, he got pale.
¨This... This is where you´ve been for the past two years? Why?¨
You hummed, pondering over your words.
¨I know things about the World Government that I shouldn´t. And when they found out, I got an ultimatum... I could turn myself in, or they would have thrown a buster call on us.¨
¨Y-You sacrificed yourself? But you know Pops could have handled it, right? We all could have handled it.¨
You smiled at him, deciding not to tell him the ugly truth.
The World Government knew about your knowledge regarding the Ancient Weapons and the National Treasure of Marie Geoise for a long time, but they waited to get to you. They waited until they had the perfect chance, and Whitebeard´s illness was just it.
At the beginning of his illness, he didn´t have the proper medication and life support devices, so he was vulnerable. Still stronger than all of you together but too vulnerable to deal with the Admirals and the CP-Zero.
When you took Whitebeard´s hand and accepted to be his daughter, you swore your loyalty to him, you vowed to protect your family even if it cost your life.
¨Yeah, I guess this one is on me.¨
After listening to everything he had told you, you knew Whitebeard would use the public execution to rescue him. He would not let anyone take another child of his.
That was the reason why you couldn´t tell Ace about your father´s state - not that he didn´t know, but he could be oblivious. And he would be crushed with guilt if anything happened to your old man.
¨Hum, but tell me, kid. Any chance the phoenix had already forgiven me?¨
You saw your answer in his awkward look.
¨He didn´t know about this as well, right?¨ Ace opened and closed his mouth a couple of times ¨He thought you had bailed on us when Pops needed you the most and... he still likes you, Y/N. He´s just hurt.¨
¨Yeah... okay...¨ you whispered.
¨If you´re right... and Pops comes to rescue me, I´ll let everyone know you´re here. And we´ll come to rescue you.¨
Your nose burned with the feeling of crying. Even with his powers restrained by the sea stone cuffs, he was so warm.
¨Well... I could use another day in the sun.¨ and you sobbed.
☩
But there was no sun.
There was no sun, and your father, together with Ace and thousands of your allies, were gone.
And the dream of brewing saké with your family, you did reach it, but couldn´t hold it.
When he opened a crater on the ground, separating him from his crew, you stood beside him, begging him to reconsider
¨Pops, don´t do this...¨ you whined, choking on your own tears ¨I-I just came back...¨
He looked at you in the eyes and wiped your tears.
¨My daughter... I´m sorry I failed you.¨ You shook your head and held his huge hand ¨I know you´ll take care of the boys. Your room and your seat remain untouched.¨
You couldn´t say anything else before he threw you on the other side.
Now the Red Hair Pirates were collecting Whitebeard and Ace´s bodies to assist with the funeral. Jozu scooped you in his amrs and carried you back to the ship as you cried. He walked you to your old room and put you in the bed, leaving without a word.
Inside of your cabin, you raged, not wanting to accept the fate of things. You punched the walls until your knuckles bled, you cried until your throat hurt and wished to go back in time, when you were in your dirty cell, and Whitebeard was still alive.
When do you think people die?
When they are shot through the heart by the bullet of a pistol?
When they are ravaged by an incurable disease?
No. It’s when… they are forgotten.
When the sun began to fall, you got up from the cold woodboard and reached the door, making your way to the deck.
The Commanders and the rest of the crew were scattered around, mourning their losses. The family was falling apart, and this time Pops wasn´t there to glue the pieces back together.
I know you´ll take care of the boys.
His words echoed in your head.
You watched the hundreds of men injured, bleeding through their wounds and passing out unattended. Where was the man in charge?
A sudden anger consumed you, and you rushed to his room, kicking the door open.
¨What the fuck do you think you´re doing?!¨ he didn´t answer, nor did he move.
Marco looked miserable, sitting on the mattress, leaning forward with both hands on his head.
You had a lot of emotions going on in your head.
You were happy because you got to hear Whitebeard call you daughter one last time, but you didn´t know how to live in a world where he didn´t.
You were happy to be with your family again, but it killed you to see them crumbled like that.
¨Not now.¨ he spoke when you approached with calmer steps. His voice was hushed and broken.
¨Marco, you have to-¨
¨Get out, yoi.¨
¨No. You are the one getting out and help-¨
¨GET THE HELL OUT, Y/N!¨ he roared.
¨NO!¨ you roared back and pulled him by his collar, facing his teary and red eyes. ¨YOU TURNED YOUR BACK TO ME ONCE, BUT I WON´T LET YOU DO THE SAME TO THEM!¨
You let go of him and shed heavy tears.
¨You have thirteen Commanders and hundreds of men out there who need you. So suck it and step in.¨ you said with gritted teeth.
¨They can handle themselves, yoi.¨ he grumbled.
You scowled
¨Is this how far your loyalty goes?¨ he clenched his fists ¨Pops offered you a seat on his side, and you took it! NOW USE IT!¨
¨SHUT UP! YOU DON´T KNOW THE THINGS WE´VE BEEN THROUGH, Y/N!¨ he marched towards you, stopping a few inches from you and yelling in your face ¨You have no idea the things we´ve lost, the things I have lost!¨
¨I do know!¨ you pushed his chest ¨I have always known, but you didn´t! You didn´t because you´re Marco, the Phoenix! And you´re great! Great rare, mythical Devil Fruit. Great First Division Commander. YOU. ARE. GREAT.¨ you sobbed, helpless ¨But being great didn´t make you confident, it made you spoiled. It made you forget what loss feels like. And now you lost. We lost.¨
He let himself fall on the mattress again, head down, tears dropping on his ragged pants.
¨So you don´t get to drown yourself in commiseration, Marco. You don´t get to sit here, feeling sorry for yourself.¨ your voice came out weak ¨They need you. I... need you.¨
You watched him for a couple of minutes but seeing that he wouldn´t move, you sighed, ready to leave the room and do his job.
¨I hated you, yoi.¨ Marco said before you could leave..
¨I know.¨ you whispered and leaned against the door.
More tears fell.
Two years in Impel Down were not enough to break you, but that... that was a difficult hit to take.
¨All these years, I hated you every single day.¨
¨I know.¨
¨Even when I thought you were dead, I hated you.¨
¨I know.¨
¨And when Pops told me what you did for him... I hated myself.¨
The both of you broke down.
¨I know, Marco.¨
You turned slowly and walked to him, sitting by his side, laying your head on his shoulder.
His shaky hands held yours, and you weakened, feeling the touch you missed so much.
¨I can´t do this, Y/N.¨
¨Yes, you can.¨ you touched his face gently, so he would look at you ¨We can.¨
You slipped to the floor, holding each other in your arms, hoping that the tears would wash away the pain, the guilt, and regret.

My Beautiful Girl (Cordelia Goode x plus-size!reader)
request: (by anon) May I request something for plus size reader x Miss Venable or Cordelia Goode? Thank you!
summary: somedays you feel really insecure in your body.
warnings: body insecurities
a/n: just a quick reminder: u are beautiful. uhm don't expect too much, its not that good(e) :’D
google translate :’D
"Honey?"
"Mhh?"
"Why are you wearing a bra?"
That was probably one of the weirdest questions Cordelia had ever asked you.
You turned around in confusion to look into the worried face of your girlfriend, who had climbed into bed and was now leaning over you,
"Why not?" You replied indifferently, even though you knew inwardly why she was confused.
"I uh- you never wear underwear under your pajamas," Cordelia explained as she brushed her own strand of hair from your face. You shrugged your shoulders.
"Lots of women do that," you said curtly, watching Cordelia narrow her eyes.
"Isn't that unhealthy or something like that?"
"Well I don't know," you muttered and looked away from her to stare at your bedside lamp.
"Google it, if you care."
You heard Cordelia sigh before reaching for your chin to force your gaze back to her.
"The only thing I care about is why you wear a bra now, you don't usually do that."
You rolled your eyes in annoyance.
"I can wear whatever I want. It's not a big deal. You- Delia, I'm really tired, okay? And I really don't feel like talking to you about what's under my pajamas."
Cordelia didn't answer and just looked at you for a few seconds. You hated it when she did that. Simply because you could never read that look and you never knew what was going on in her head.
Of course you had a reason you left your bra on, but you never would have wanted to tell Cordelia about it, simply because it was a very sensitive topic ... Self-love was weird. You always found, that you were someone, who had a lot of love to give, but strangely enough, it was never enough for yourself.
Usually you were in tune with your body, you accepted it and sometimes you even found yourself beautiful. But then there were days when all it took was a judgmental look, that suddenly made you feel ugly. You just wanted to be invisible and as small as possible on those days, but unfortunately, that was impossible because everything about you was so big. Your legs, your breasts, your stomach ... just big. Too big for your taste.
Those days you wanted nobody to see you. You couldn't even look at yourself without wanting to cry. Beauty was just a stupid illusion, like normally looking at yourself through a filter and then there were those days when that filter was suddenly gone and you saw reality. It was gross and definitely not a topic you liked to talk about.
And today was one of those days. And you'd just wanted to keep your stupid bra on, because it made you feel safe and you hoped to hide your body under it. Although the whole thing was ridiculous, Cordelia was your girlfriend and had seen you naked so many times and besides, she was the last person who would judge you, you knew that. Unfortunately, the problem these days wasn't just, that you looked ugly.. Another problem was that Cordelia, the perfect Cordelia, could see you. And those days you just couldn't understand why she was wasting her time on you of all people.
"Of course you can wear whatever you want, I didn't mean to make you feel insecure," she said suddenly and pulled you out of your thoughts about your own ugliness. Your girlfriend leaned over to turn off your bedside lamp before leaning down and pressing her lips against your temple for a moment.
"Good night honey," she muttered.
You felt her lay down behind you before wrapping her arms around your waist. Bad idea.
Immediately you froze in her grip and inadvertently pulled in your stomach. For a few minutes the two of you lay there in silence, not realizing that you had been holding your breath, when Cordelia finally pulled back and switched the light back on.
"Okay, what's wrong?" She asked without sounding reproachful. You turned your head to her and saw, that she had leaned her back against the headboard.
God she was so beautiful it was almost a curse. The blonde angel curls that curled on her white nightgown. Her pure skin and then the brown eyes that glinted down on you with concern.
"Nothing is wrong," you mumbled as you sat up too, leaning against the headboard of the bed like her.
"I can see that something is", Delia replied and you tried to ignore her penetrating gaze by staring down into your lap.
"I am fine."
"You lie."
"I dont lie."
"Y / N, you are lying," Cordelia muttered, shaking her head.
"I thought we'd always be honest with each other."
You felt a little stitch in your chest when you heard her words, because she was right. Usually you always talked to her about the things that bothered you, just as she talked to you.
"I'm okay," you said, looking at her again to smile carefully.
"It's just .. you know, sometimes you have those days when all the disgusting comments, that people have ever made about you and that you have almost repressed crash into your brain and pull you down at the same time, don't you?" you asked and looked at her expectantly.
"I uh- actually not," Cordelia admitted honestly. You looked away from her again and shook your head. Of course she didn't know that. Cordelia looked so perfect and the things people said about you only applied to you, not to her.
"Is it again about that you are not a witch or what-?" Cordelia asked further.
"Jesus, no".
You nervously stared down at your fingers in your lap.
Actually, you would have told Cordelia about it, had you not only been so sensitive about this topic. It wasn't easy to admit how weak you actually felt in your body.
"Cordelia you are the supreme, you know everything anyway," you said desperately.
"That's really cute, honey, but I don't know everything and that's why I want you to talk to me, okay?"
Cordelia grabbed your hand and you just wanted to push it away. As if you with your strange body were worth for her touch.
You raised your eyes again to meet hers, which were filled with love.
Cordelia was your girlfriend and you loved her so much, that it was actually unfair that you were lying to her right now.
"It's my body," you said quietly. Unfortunately a little too quiet, because she couldn't hear you.
"What?", Delia asked confused as she ran her thumbs over the back of your hand. You swallowed and tried to blink away the tears that filled your eyes.
"My body, Cordelia," you said a little louder now.
"What's wrong with that?"
"Oh god".
You wanted to scream out loud, it was frustrating. It was obvious to you and you wondered if she was really that stupid or if she was just pretending to be.
"I just- I hate it, that's it," you finally hissed, lowering your gaze to your hand, which was still in hers. Cordelia's thumb, which had still rubbed the back of your hand lightly, stopped for a moment and you heard Cordelia let out a soft "Oh".
"Why don't you tell me that?" She asked in a low voice and you could hear the sadness in it.
"I don't know, it's complicated", you pinched the bridge of your nose with your free hand.
"It's not always like this, just some days."
"..and today is one of those days ?", added Cordelia and you nodded slowly.
"Oh honey" Cordelia sighed as she leaned forward to pull you into her arms, but you almost automatically jumped off the bed.
"Cordelia I- uhm .." you stuttered and crossed your arms over your chest.
"The problem isn't actually, that I hate myself on those days. You know, I'm always good enough for myself, but .."
You interrupted yourself and looked at Cordelia thoughtfully for a few seconds. It was actually ridiculous. You knew, that Cordelia chose you, even though she could have anyone. That meant that she still had to feel something for you. But for you it was just not understandable, simply because all you felt for yourself was hate. At least on days like this.
"But?" Repeated Cordelia, getting up from the bed to walk over to you, but still with enough distance.
"But you," you mumbled quietly without looking at her.
"You are so- i dont know, beautiful. And I'm so .. so ugly, I guess? You can see that it is kind of weird, right?"
You looked back at your girlfriend, which was a bad idea. Cordelia looked at you so sadly, that you immediately regretted telling her that. Actually, it was a stupid decision. It was much easier to live, when people thought you were happy in your body and now you had openly shown Delia how weak and vulnerable you actually were and that because of something you couldn't change. It was your body, the weird thing that you always had to carry around with you, even though you would like to lock it in your closet.
"You are beautiful, Y / N," Delia suddenly said firmly. But it felt like a lie. If your perception made you feel like you were ugly, then she could only lie.
"Cordelia, thats-" you started in a thick voice, but she interrupted you to repeat her words.
"You're beautiful."
The pain these words caused in you was indescribable.
On the one hand, that was what you wanted to hear. You were an woman, who needed a lot of confirmation. Yet on the other hand, you knew it was a lie. As if Cordelia had sinned when those words left her tongue.
"You .. you don't have to say this to make me feel better," you muttered and Cordelia shook her head.
"I'm not saying this to make you feel better. I'm saying this, because it's the truth. Y / N, you're beautiful and you have no idea how sad it makes me to see, that you can't understand this."
"I don't know," you sighed. "It's actually stupid."
"Oh yeah it's stupid, when you say you are ugly when you are actually so beautiful. You have to believe me, Y / N. I would never lie to you. And besides, if I found you unattractive, we wouldn't be here now."
Cordelia crossed her arms over her chest and looked at you again.
"Maybe you're just doing this out of pity," you said and immediately realized how stupid it all sounded.
"Pity?" Cordelia repeated with raised eyebrows and you just nodded.
The blonde took a step towards you and before you could react, she held your face between her hands.
"You are beautiful, Y / N," she repeated her words for the third time.
"You are so many things, but definitely not ugly. And even if you can't see that, you have to trust me, that I would never lie to you and I think, that you are perfect the way you are, do you understand?"
Your face was only a few inches from hers and you could look straight into her brown eyes. And while you couldn't really believe Cordelia's words, she was right: she definitely wasn't going to lie to you.
"Whenever you have one of those days,, I want you to come to me right away. I want us to work together, to make you feel good in your body and that you don't have to feel like you have to hide from me and therefore keep your bra on at night. You are so beautiful Y / N and you deserve to know, that's why I want you to talk to me about it, no matter how uncomfortable it is for you. I love you so much and I want you to be able to love yourself too. "
Cordelia was still staring at you and you noticed, that she hadn't blinked a single time while she was speaking. As if she knew what magic there was in her beautiful eyes.
"Okay," you finally mumbled and immediately her gaze relaxed.
"Thank you darling".
"You don't have to say thank you," Cordelia said, smiling gently.
"That you are beautiful is a fact and not a decision or an opinion."
"Thank you anyway, your words mean a lot to me."
You leaned over carefully to kiss her gently. Your hands fell on her hips while she still held your face in her hands.
"You are so so beautiful, honey," Cordelia whispered against your lips and repeated her words again as she ran her thumbs over your cheeks.
"Do you feel safe enough to finally take off your bra now?"
You pulled back and looked at her uncertainly for a moment.
"Only if you want and if you are fine with it," Delia added and you nodded slowly.
Cordelia smiled gently.
"Great". she muttered.
"May I-?"
She pointed to the corner of your nightgown and again you nodded slowly before you felt Delia carefully grabbing the hem of your nightgown to pull it over your head.
You could hear Delia throwing the nightgown on the floor next to you. Her cool fingers wandered behind your back to unhook your bra, which also slid to the floor.
"I love every inch of your skin, so please don't hide from me," Cordelia whispered as she put her hands on your hips and started rubbing your skin with her thumb.
"My beautiful girl."

Peter Parker-Peter’s Tingle
Requested by anon! Angst alphabet letter B with fluffly ending! Although is not really angsty! I hope you like it!!
Plot: Peter’s tingle must always be trusted; through the good and bad.
Warnings: pregnant!reader, pregnancy problems (sightly), giving birth. Let’s pretend Peter’s 18 for this fanfic! ALWAYS WRAP IT BEFORE YOU TAP IT
Cravings were weird, and yours were definitely the weirdest of them all. You were sure of it when, at eleven thirty of the night, you were walking down the aisle of a store that was fifteen minutes away from your house just because of those snacks that you used to have as a child. Walking into the store and greeting the old man in the front, you looked around until you spotted what you came in there for. They were ordered by colours, the weirdest flavours displayed in front of you. You smiled at the thought of shoving a bunch of them in your mouth, and you almost clapped. While you were picking as much of them as you could in your arms and balancing them in your pregnant belly, you thought about him.
Probably, it would have been a good idea to tell Peter.
Peter, your boyfriend and the father of your child. Peter, the super hero of Queens that fainted when you went to the bathroom on the cinema two weeks ago. Peter, who didn’t know where you were and probably was coming back from patrol in a few minutes. Yeah, it seemed a pretty stupid idea, coming down all the way to the store when your boyfriend is fucking spiderman and could just swing there.
But he had left the toilet seat up once more and you didn’t want to deal with him. Not when you knew you would melt with his cute brown eyes and his innocent self.
Arms full of snacks and weird things, you walked back to the counter; only to stop by the third aisle, where the baby section peaked. You were over the 7th month of the pregnancy, yet you had decided to keep the gender of the baby a secret. It was Peter idea, who wanted to surprise everyone with the little bundle. He liked to have arguments with Tony, saying that it would be a boy, smarter than Tony that would make the most incredible suit the world had ever seen. To what Tony proposed to create a bubble paper room in the tower just for the baby.
It had been an accident. The unsafe sex, the pregnancy, the baby. Yet you knew that Peter and you would love that kid, either if it was a girl or a boy. Shuffling through the clothes, you tried to pick gender neutral ones when your phone rang. The annoying tone of Spiderman, does whatever a spider can started sounding, and thank God it was so late and there wasn’t anyone around.
“Hey babe” you answered, putting on a happy smile even if he couldn’t see you.
“Y/N! Thank God you’re alive. I-I came from patrol, and I didn’t see you. Thought you would be over Tony’s? But he hadn’t seen you either. S-so I got a bit, uh, worried?”
“I’m fine, just needed a quick run to-where are you?”
In the background, you could hear strange sounds. At first, they seemed a machine working, yet the more you focused, the farther the sounds were from being that. You sighed when you realised that it was Peter’s swinging by the buildings, the metallic suit colliding with the air.
“Peter, you better not be talking while swinging.”
There was a pregnant pause, where Peter could only keep silence shamefully; but he didn’t stop. You left the yellow onesie on its place and turned back to pay for all your items; apart from the snacks, two Spiderman’s plushie and a sippy cup themed like captain America.
“I swear, this stress is bad for the baby”
“I’m fine, thanks for asking though” a new voice interrupted the conversation, your eyes widening. “Hey Y/N. How’s it going?”
You let your mouth fall open when Tony’s voice came through your phone, and had to tighten your arms around the products to keep them from falling. Your adoptive father had been against the relationship since you had known Peter, and actually made the show of chasing Peter around New York with his ironman suit. Your mother, Pepper, and you had to stop him before it actually got bad.
When he found out you were pregnant, Peter ended up unconscious in the med bay and, once more, your mother and you had shouted to hell and back. Now, seven months later, Tony Stark and Peter Parker made the best team in keeping Y/N Potts away from danger; danger being opening a can by yourself or doing some shopping.
“I can’t believe your brought him into this, Pete” you said, half angry half i-knew-it-would-happen. “I thought we said no more Tony in your paranoias! His old heart can’t handle it!”
“Hey, I heard that!”
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry Y/N, but my senses kept bugging me and I’m really worried. And-then I called Tony, to ask him if you were with him, you know I can’t lie to him!” Peter rushed out, actually afraid of what you might do against him. “I’m sorry.”
“Okay, good. Good” you rubbed your eyes slowly, suddenly dying for a warm bed. Was it you, or it was too cold in that shop? Damn the hormones and the cravings. “I just want to go home, I’m really tired. I don’t care anymore, just be here quickly”
“Minutes away, Y/N. Promise”
You decided to sit in ones of the chairs that was exposed on the shop. It was a weird shop, that sold too many things. But it felt amazing to have somewhere to sit. Peter insisted in keeping on the line while he got there, and something in his voice made you reconsider your quick nap and hum in approval. Then, he began talking about his patrol and about how he almost broke his leg rescuing a lost kitten.
Tony made the occasional appearance, adding some snarky remark or just making sure you were okay. It didn’t worry you that he was so overprotective; they always were. Teen pregnancy was always a risk. From school, to people and social media, to health problems. A lot of things could go wrong in a teen pregnancy.
Minutes passed and, before you knew it, you heard the owner of the shop gasp in surprise. A male voice called your name, and you answered half-heartedly, almost ready to fall asleep there. From where you were sitting, you saw Iron Man impressive suit peeking over the shelves, and calling with one hand to a small figure, who ran to your side in seconds.
“Hey” Peter’s soft voice made you smile, and soon his fluffy locks welcomed you.
Peter kneeled on your right, his suit covered hand resting on your thigh and squeezing it carefully. He had bags under his eyes and a tired smile adorning his face. His locks were all over the place, still not used to the new mask Tony had gave him. You couldn’t resist the urge of running a hand through them.
As if it was a routine, his other hand travelled to your belly, covered by a horrendous pre-mom jacket he had made you wear. Still, both of you felt the baby kicking softly where Peter was touching it, and you smiled happy.
“Young woman, consider yourself the main cause of my grey hair” Iron man’s voice said.
Tony stepped out of the suit, leaving it on guarding mood on the beginning of the aisle; Spiderman’s identity was yet to be revealed. Although he looked slightly annoying from being out of his lab, he had a fond shine on his eyes, that was only directed to a few people in the world.
“I’m sorry I got you out of bed, old man” you heard Peter’s stiffen a laugh. “I just wanted something to eat.”
“Next time you can just call me” Peter said. “You know I can drop anything for you”
He would, and you knew it more than well. When he had discovered you were pregnant, you expected a lot of things. Walking out on you, insulting you, questioning the father of the child, excusing himself of its life. But Peter Parker had only hugged you tight and promised you that he would never move from your side, whatever you wanted or decided. And even proposed to leave highschool and search for some job.
Thankfully, aunt May and Pepper took that idea out of his mind quickly.
“I could use some spiderman swinging right now” you said, using your best puppy eyes. You faked a small pout and watched as Peter’s eyes widened. “I’m really, really tired… I walked here and all. And I want to go to sleep. Like, now.”
“What? Why?” Peter panicked. “Do you feel sick? I can bright you a paper bin. Mr Stark, can you bring a paper bin? Or do you need anything else? Karen, can you call-“
“Kid, she’s fine” Tony rolled his eyes. “I’ve been living with her long enough to know those eyes. She’s just trying to get away with being lazy.
You chuckled and Peter relaxed his shoulders, muttering something to Karen about not bringing the ambulance. With his help, you got up from the chair and wrapped your arms around his shoulders. He hugged your back and rubbed his nose against your neck, curls tickling your cheeks. Tony said something about keeping it PG and going to pay for the snacks, but you didn’t move from the embrace.
Peter’s arms had something that made you want to stay between them all day, even if it was weird with a huge stomach in between. The hard plates of his suit felt uncomfortable against your skin, and it was too chilly for you liking; yet you enjoyed yourself for a little bit, not aware of what was waiting for you.
It had probably passed only a few minutes before you heard the man in the counter walking angrily towards you. Your lips were awfully close to his, previously having kissed his neck, cheeks and chin, when Peter pushed aside and the mask covered him quickly, just in time to see the man walking in the aisle with Tony hot on his heels. He was speaking so fast you couldn’t understand him, although it was true that your mind felt a little foggy. The lights bothered you, the noises were too loud and it was cold in that dammed shop. You only wanted to go back to bed.
Peter gripped your hand and managed to push you a little behind him, not liking the way that man was pointing an angry arm at you.
“…pay! You have to pay for everything! Now it’s useless!”
“Hey man, I already paid for everything. And gave you a tip!” Tony raised his arms, and with a sharp look stopped the suit from frying that man. “This is ridiculous, you can’t even properly speak my language.”
“No, you pay more! She sat, and now useless! No one is buying the chair no more, and shop close if doesn’t have money! Pay!”
“Mr Stark?” Peter asked, voice unsure but ready to jump into the argument. By then, you were leaning on his back, cheek pressed against his shoulder blade while his thumb caressed your palm.
The man shouted something in his language. Judging by the small black moustache, dark skin and long clothes, he was probably muslim. He kept pointing to the chair, as if he wanted desperately for you to notice something.
And, in an ironic way, you were the first one to do so. You should had probably noticed earlier; the discomfort, the constant need to pee. Those were alarming signals, but you had just confused them with cravings and maternity hormones. While Tony shouted back and forwards with the man, you got stuck looking at the red stain on the chair you had been sitting on mere seconds ago. Some of it had leaked to the ground, and just then you were aware of the sticky feeling on your legs. Looking down, you saw the grey leggings darkened, and you gasped.
“You al-“
Peter stopped at midsentence when he noticed the blood on your thighs. Once you were up and not sitting, he could see the beginning of a larger stain of red. He didn’t mind when his mask fell off and the muslim man stopped talking in surprise, neither when, in an attempt to catch you, he crashed with the shelves on his back and knocked over some diaper’s boxes.
“Y/N”
Tony had never heard such a desperation in the boy’s voice. He had you gripping on his forearms, face suddenly face and sweat rolling down your neck. His face wasn’t much better; wide eyes, tears already forming in them, and mouth open.
However, Peter didn’t get to say anything before you finally crumbled down on his arms while your world turned black.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Peter swung through the buildings of New York, bag on his shoulders, all he could think was about the crib. The half-done crib you were trying to build in what would be the kid’s room, in the tower. You had decided to stay there, with Peter, and although he would miss May, he had been happy with the idea.
Until the moment came, and he had been too busy fussing over the avengers to build the crib; then, he felt miserable. It couldn’t have been his fault, as the little bundle had decided to come three fucking months earlier.
His heartbeat was wild on his ears, so loud that he couldn’t see or feel the wind that passed through him. If you were there, you would shout at him for going to fast. If you were there, you would make him focus on the task and forget about the damn crib. But you weren’t, you were in an hospital bed giving birth while he went for the bag, that thankfully he had already prepared.
In a daze, he found himself in the hospital. The whole ‘protect the secret identity’ was long forgotten, and he ripped the mask off his head in front of the nurse in charge.
“C-Can I help you?” the lady said, voice trembling. She blinked a few times, surprised to see such a young boy in the spiderman’s suit.
“Yes, yeah. I’m… Y/N Y/L/N. She’s-She’s my girlfriend. Pregnant” Peter stumbled over his words. “She-well, not any more. I guess? She’s giving birth. Early, thought. We had a problem in a shop and-“
“Room 311. That’s the third floor” the woman cut him, kind smile on her face. “Take the elevator, then it’s down the hall and to the right”
He didn’t even think. His mind was only a mix of white noise and blurry images passing through him. Peter ran to the elevator, resting his forehead against the metallic wall of it as it rose, exacerbating the swooping feeling he had been fighting since you fainted on his arms; like someone ripped the floor out from beneath his feet. He had been trying to prepare himself for that moment for months, reading all the available books he found and asking for advice to every person he knew.
But, the moment had arrived and he didn’t even had the crib.
There was a woman waiting outside room 311, sipping from a water bottle and wearing awful expensive clothes. She had her hair tied up in a bun, and Peter barely recognised her as the lawyer Tony had gotten for you. Without sparing her another glance, he sprinted past her and almost kicked the door open.
It was sort of a nightmare, what lied behind that door. Peter thought his mind filtered out the worse of it, yet when he opened it and found you sitting on a bed, the end of it covered by blood, he was ready to faint himself.
Tony was by your side, shouting something over the phone with a frown on his face. And you were crying. Fat, big tears were making their way down your chest, and Peter’s knees became jelly. He managed to step up to your bed.
“Y/N”
You looked up at him briefly, eyes squeezed in pain. You didn’t make any sound of recognition, but grabbed his hand in an iron grip and squeezed it. Peter immediately got the hint, and used his other hand to avoid the sweat getting into your eyes.
Tony got out of the room after nodding to Peter, taking the bag out of his white knuckles and placing it on the chair. Bile rose up to Peter’s throat when a particularly pained scream left your lips. You leaned over for a second, before relaxing slightly.
He took that as his cue to start whispering soothing words to you. They didn’t do much, and you only wanted to push him apart. But his voice was trembling, his hands were shaking and Peter had also tears on his eyes. So you let him keep talking while the next contraction hit you.
“You seem awfully close to passing out” you tried to joke, enjoying the few seconds of rest. Peter let out a nervous chuckle.
“That’s probably because I am” he whispered. “But I’m not! I promise, I’m not moving. Squeeze my hand, do whatever you want. I’ve read that maybe insulting me might-“
“Pete” you interrupted him, breathless. “I’ll be okay. The baby will be okay, doctors get preemies in here all the time, they know how to take care of them”
Peter’s thought went back to the unfinished crib, how he might had been the one not prepared. He would willingly give his life away from you. But taking care of another life? He wasn’t so sure about that. Even with the financial support of your mother and Tony, they were still a lot of things to solve. Like, highschool, life changes, his schedules.
He didn’t get to continue the list of things he could do wrong because it happened.
One second he was whispering just one more push to you, the next the room was filled with the sound of crying. It was like the first time he heard the heartbeat; it came from everywhere. It came from inside him, he could heart it in his bones. Already, Peter knew he could never forget it.
It wasn’t loud, just tiny mewling noises. The nurses rushed forward with clean towels to wipe away the blood. They were swaddling something in their arms, talking in hushed whispered. He can’t hear your voice calling him over the kid’s low cries. A blonde old nurse came forward, looking at you with soft eyes and asked you something.
Peter’s ears seemed to snap open to her words.
“Would you like to hold her?”
Vaguely, he registered the doctor talking to you about delivering the placenta next, but you nodded excitedly. Peter turned everything he had heard, seen or felt in his life down, and only focused on the blonde nurse standing by your side, offering up a bundle of blankets with a baby, his baby. The room became blurry because of his tears, and he had to sit down.
Next to you. So, Peter saw the little head between the blankets. And he cried.
“Remember to support her head-yeah, like that! I feel like you’re gonna be a natural.”
Peter didn’t actually heard what came after, neither did you. His ears aren’t ringing anymore, either. It was just him, the love of his life laying on a bed, and the bundle of happiness the world had decided to gift him with. A wriggling and squirming little baby girl, with her rounded cheeks flushed with red. Her tiny daughter.
The words made him choke on his sobs, and he covered his mouth with his hand. The love that crashed him was like anything else; it eclipsed everything, warmed him like a rising sun and washed away the thought about the crib.
There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do, there was nothing that meant more to him that that moment.
“Hi, baby” you whispered.
Blindly, she reached towards the source of the voice.
Ten years ago, you had met Peter Parker. A boy with asthma, thin and a little nerdy; that had given you a silly necklace with a self-made atom. The same way it had captured your attention, and since that moment you had stuck to his side, your daughter gripped it with chubby fingers, and her cries died down.
Peter felt as if he was staring at the sun. He put one hand on her head, and the baby, his baby, made a soft little whining sound. Her eyes fluttered open and, if Peter could, he would sit down again.
He couldn’t control the urge of turning your head to the side and crashing his lips to yours. You squealed in surprise, and some nurses gasped. You were both sweaty and with tears on your eyes. The kiss tasted salty, it was awkward because the position and couldn’t last long because they had to take the little girl to the NICU. But it felt like the most perfect kiss of all times.
“I love you” he cried, not bothering to hide his sobs anymore. “I love you, I love you, I love you…”
You giggle wetly at him, and pulled him closer for another kiss.
Things were going to be hard. Teen pregnancy, highschool, a premature baby and a whole new world waiting for you. But something in Peter’s gut, his Peter’s tingle, told him everything was going to be just fine.

City nights
Genre: Fluff Words: 2.693 Prompt: What are you waiting for?, What are you doing tonight? For anon
It was still early in your nightshift when you regretted agreeing to trading shifts with one of your colleagues. A drunk man had come into the little café you worked at and had refused to leave until a police man had to come in to force him out. Shortly after that a bunch of hormonal teenagers tried to flirt with you to get your number for 20 minutes straight. And right now a hipster had ordered the weirdest and most complicated latte you had ever made. But luckily he’d die of diabetes soon, judging by the amount of syrup you had to put in it (but just a ¾ pump of the caramel one and 1 ½ of the chocolate one). Placing it in front of him, he paid it without a word of thanks.
Now officially pissed off, you took a sip from your own iced Americano and turned back to the textbook you had brought with you to make use of the time when no customers came in. Lost in a chapter of biochemistry you didn’t hear the bell over the door when a man entered the café. When he cleared his throat, you almost dropped your book and fell from the counter you had sat on.
Mumbling an apology you rushed to the register to take his order. “Interesting lecture?” He asked instead with a very deep, raspy voice. Blushing you bowed your head in another apology. “Just something for university, what would you like to order sir?”
“So you are a university student?” He asked whilst studying the menu through his round glasses. Somehow they didn’t quite fit with the rest of his look. His hair was bleached blond and a little metal bar was peeking through where his fringe was covering part of his eyebrow. His fingers with nails painted black were fidgeting with the phone in his hand below the long sleeves of his black sweater.
“Yeah, biochemistry major or at least I’m trying,” you answered his question when he kept quiet, “The iced mocha I make is pretty good.” He looked down from the menu and raised a pierced eyebrow at you. “Is that so?” “So I have been told.” “Then I’ll have that but with a double shot please.” “For take way?” “Nah, I’ll stay. It’s cute here,” he winked at you.
Flustered you put his order in the register. “Anything else?” “Nah, I’m good for now”, the man answered while he handed over his card. “I’ll bring it over once I’m done,” you smiled at him and got to work.
Nodding in acknowledgment he walked away from the counter which gave you a great opportunity to look at his backside which was clad in tight leather pants. Who even wore leather plants apart from idols? Shaking your head you prepared his drink; he was the first normal customer tonight and even knew how to be polite when making extra wishes.
Walking over to where he had sat down in a corner table with two large armchairs, you placed his mocha in front of him. “There you go, sir.” “I’m Changkyun, no need to call me sir. I’m pretty sure you are older than me anyways,” he introduced himself, looking up from his phone. “I was just being polite,” you tried to justify yourself as you walked back to the counter. “Don’t wanna hear my judgment for that mocha that allegedly is ‘pretty good’?” Changkyun called after you.
Usually you wouldn’t show interest in the opinion of any customer but somehow this man was an exception. Stirring his beverage with the straw he grinned up at you. “What’s your name now that you know mine?” Staying silent you just pointed to your name tag on your apron where it clearly said your name. Well, at least he didn’t stare at your boobs.
“Cute.” Changkyun just commented before he put his lips around the straw and took a sip. “It’s good,” he acknowledged. “You sound surprised,” you grinned, the compliment pushing your self-confidence. “I usually don’t go for sweet drinks but this is nice. Why don’t you sit down and tell me more about you?” “I’m really happy that you like it, but I kinda have to stand behind the counter over there and wait for customers to come in, soooo.” You turned around to walk back even though you wouldn’t mind to talk to him for a while. His voice was very nice and soothing and he seemed interesting.
“What are you doing tonight?” Changkyun asked and you could have sworn his voice dropped another octave lower. Biting your lip before turning around, you simply answered: “I have to close up in an hour.” And went back behind the counter.
~
Changkyun had been sitting in the chair looking at his phone and occasionally shooting a glance at you until you locked the front door and switched the sign to ‘closed’. “You need any help?” He asked when he came over to the counter and placed his empty glass down. You shook your head, taking the glass to the back. “Just don’t touch anything until I’m back.”
Hurrying to the lockers you quickly changed and fixed your hair. Your heart was beating faster than it should have. He was just a random dude who showed up on your shift and flirted with you. A good looking dude with a nice voice. Grabbing your bag, you went back to the front where Changkyun was skipping through pages of your book. “Sounds interesting,” he shut it and handed it over to you. Shrugging you accepted the book and stuffed it into your bag. “Are you a university student as well?” You asked, stepping out into the night and locking the door.
“No, I actually dropped out of high school,” the blonde confessed while pulling a black mask out of his pocket and putting it on. “Oh, why’s that?” He didn’t seem like a high school dropout. “Ehrm,” he stuttered, scratching the back of his neck, “Doesn’t really matter, does it?”
Shrugging you turned to head out onto the main street around the corner. “I was just curious. What are you doing for a living then?” Realizing he hadn’t been following you, but actually turned to walk the other direction into a small alley, you stopped and raised an eyebrow in question.
“Wanna go on an adventure?” Changkyun asked with his deep voice, extending a hand towards you. Insecure you stepped towards him. “What are you waiting for?” he laughed and took your hand in his before he pulled you after him.
Your heart was beating furiously in your chest. What had gotten into you? He was a complete stranger who just happened to step into your café. But you felt strangely safe with him. It was exciting to basically go on a late night date with him.
Changkyun seemed to know his way around the small streets around here, always dodging the bigger streets but choosing smaller alleys with less people.
“Where are we going?” You asked after a while. “It’s a surprise, baby,” was his cryptic answer. You insides turned at the pet name and the way it rolled off his tongue. Was he one of these Korean-American boys your mother had warned you about? Those who made you fall hard and fast for them to then leave you and break your heart? Shaking your head, you dismissed the thought. You weren’t falling for a stranger.
Suddenly Changkyun pulled you closer when you stepped out on a busier street. “Keep your head down,” he whispered as he pulled you along, letting his long fringe fall into his eyes, basically hiding between you and the fronts of closed up shops. “What’s that about?” You asked confused.
He chose to not answer. Was he some kind of criminal wanted by the police? Was that why he hadn’t told you what he was doing for a living? Maybe he was one of those people who worked for the mafia after dropping out of school. Startled by that thought you hissed under your breath: “Please tell me that you are not some kind of drug dealer who’s in trouble with the police.”
Halting he looked at you in confusion from below his fringe before he burst out a laughter which was way higher than his speaking voice would suggest. “It’s not funny, I’m being serious,” you scolded him, snatching your hand from his grip and slapping his arm. Body still shaking with laughter, Changkyun shook his head. “No, I’m not in trouble with the law in any kind.” He offered his hand again. “Come on, people are staring.” “Because you laughed like a maniac in the middle of the street,” you pouted and laced your fingers with him again, a soft blush covering your cheeks.
“Let’s just say I just don’t like to catch people’s attention,” he offered as an excuse when he pulled you along again, his steps faster than before. “Then you chose the wrong hair colour,” you pointed out. He snorted before flashing you puppy eyes. “But it looks good on me, doesn’t it?” Shoving him, you looked away, feeling how heat crept up your neck and ears turning red. It did suit him but you weren’t going to tell him.
“You still not gonna tell me where you are actually taking me?” You asked instead. “We are almost there,” he gestured at a sign leading to a park nearby. “That park is most likely closed though.” “I know my ways, babe.” Changkyun winked at you. “Not in trouble with the law in any kind my ass,” you muttered.
Giggling Changkyun lead you to the main entrance of the park which indeed was closed. “Do you trust me?” He asked, mischief glistening in his eyes. “I know you for a whole two hours maybe,” you answered truthful. “Yet you chose the come with me instead of going home.”
Not letting you protest, he tugged at your hand and pulled you into the bushes surrounding the gate. “There’s a gap in the fence somewhere,” he murmured, scanning the area. “How do you know such things?” You asked in confusion when he indeed found a gap that was just big enough to squeeze through. “I know a lot of things,” the blonde answered cryptic and wiggled his eyebrows. “After you, ma’am.”
When you both had crawled out of the bushes on the other side of the fence, Changkyun took off his face mask again and reached for your hand. He lead you through the dark park to a bench by a pond where he sat down, draping his leather clad legs over the seat and stretching his body out. You swear you could hear a bunch of joints cracking. You grimaced. “What do you do to make that many joints pop?”
He just grinned and fully laid down on the bench to make his back pop as well, letting out a satisfied sigh. That was hands down the sexiest sound you had ever heard. “Guess,” he dared you, raising his legs effortless while still lying down to make space for you to sit.
After sitting down you thought about what he had told you already about himself. He couldn’t really work a desk job since he was a high school dropout. “Some kind of craftsman?” Laughing he shook his head. It didn’t really fit him anyways, he seemed to be more of the edgy, artist type. “Something artistic?” “Kind of, yeah.” You thought for a while and placed your hands on his thighs. They were surprisingly muscular. “You work out a lot?” “Every now and then, it’s kinda part of my job,” he admitted while flexing the muscles beneath your fingers. “A dancer?” That would also kind of explain why he way avoiding people on the streets. “Well, not really. But I do dance,” he acknowledged while lifting himself up only to turn himself around and place his head in your lap.
Grinning up at your blushing face, he stuck out his tongue. “Keep guessing, you are getting closer.” Not knowing where to put your hands, you started stroking his surprisingly soft strands which earned you a sound close to a purr from deep inside his chest. “So not a dancer but rather some kind of performer?” He just made an affirmative sound and closed his eyes, clearly enjoying the way you played with his hair. “In a show of some sorts?” “Sometimes, yes”, he giggled, “You really don’t know who I am?” “How should I? You literally came into the café, ordered a drink and then decided to kidnap me,” you pouted, crossing your arms in front of your chest like a child. Opening his eyes again, he grinned at you and pressed a quick kiss to your cheek which reddened in reaction. “Cute,” he stated.
Suddenly the sound of a loud song interrupted the quiet night and startled the two of you, the song way strangely familiar. “Shit,” Changkyun cursed and fumbled to get his phone out and pick up the call. The person calling was obviously worried about where he was. You couldn’t make out works but the other person was clearly screaming while he tried to play it off by telling them he’d be home later tonight and that he wasn’t at his studio but decided to go out. He ended the call with an annoyed: “See you later, eomma.”
“Your mum still calls you to find out where you are?” You ask him mockingly. “Well, technically he isn’t my mum, but he sure as hell acts like he is,” Changkyun tried to explain. “Roommate?” “Yeah, also that.”
Deciding to drop the matter because Changkyun wasn’t giving you answers anyways, you asked instead: “Your ringtone seems weirdly familiar, what song was it?” A grin spread across his face. “It’s pretty old, from a group called Monsta X.” And then he suddenly started rapping parts of the song and your jaw dropped.
“Oh my god, you are kidding me,” you gasped, the man was none other than Im Changkyun, lead rapper from Monsta X, an actual idol. His grin only spread wider. “Nope, I am what I am,” he said his catch phrase in English. “I feel so stupid right now,” you confessed. How did you not realize it? You had even wondered who even wore leather pants beside idols.
“Does it change anything now that you know?” He seemed weirdly insecure, fiddling with the sleeves of his shirt. “I mean I still don’t know anything about you besides your job and your coffee preferences.” He grinned happily and laid his head back down to your lap.
“Well, my favourite colour is white, I’m left handed, I can lick my nose, my blood type is 0, I don’t particularly like spicy food and I usually don’t kiss on the first date.” “You can lick your nose?” “That’s what you took from all of that?” Changkyun looked at you with wide eyes and sat up; looking like you had betrayed him. Hiding your smile behind your hands, you asked him to proof it.
Sighing he massaged his temples before he looked up again and indeed connected his tongue to the tip of his nose. Still giggling you scooted closer to him. “Is there something else you can do with that tongue?” You asked, trying to sound suggestive. “Well, I can also touch my elbow with it,” heanswered, voice flat.
Leaning in, you whispered: “Not what I meant, Changkyun.” His eyes went wide again and he shook his head in disbelief. “So you did take something else away from that.”
Nodding you closed the last centimetres between you two and gently connected your lips with his. When you broke the kiss, you looked deep into his eyes, losing yourself in the darkness of them. You wanted to know more about him, discover everything he hid behind those dark orbs.
Gently cupping your face between his hands, Changkyun kissed you again. “You wanna be my little secret?” He whispered between lingering kisses. Humming in agreement, you brought your arms around his neck and pulled him closer, deepening the kiss.

BnHA Chapter 240: PLIFF
Previously on BnHA: Shigaraki “Thanos” Tomura gleefully reduced an entire city to dust while laughing maniacally. You know, villain things. He almost turned Re-Destro to dust as well, but Re-Destro got around that by chopping off his own legs. Like it was no big. I still haven’t quite managed to process that yet. Anyway, so everyone was real impressed by Tomura at this point, because how could you not be, and to sum things up, Re-Destro basically accepted him as his lord and savior and handed the Meta Liberation Army over to him. So now Shigaraki Tomura, noted crazy person and heir to All for One’s empire, who has just upgraded his quirk so as to be able to destroy basically anything within an unknown range without even having to touch the thing directly, and who has also pledged to destroy the entire world, has an army. And he also has Gigantomachia, who was watching him all hearts-in-eyes while he did his thing. So all in all this has been a very productive arc for the League of Villains. And meanwhile, the League of Everyone Else may want to think about changing their name to “League of People About To Be Incredibly Fucking Screwed.”
Today on BnHA: The League of Villains, in what is clearly the best rebranding move since New Coke, renames itself the “Paranormal Liberation Front”, a.k.a. PLF, a.k.a. PLIFF because that’s what it instantly became in my head and you can’t stop me. Among PLIFF’s Finest is newly initiated member Hawks, whose mystery bag is finally confirmed to have contained exactly what we all thought it was going to contain. I don’t even want to talk about that. I’m still in denial. But also weirdly thrilled. I’m terrible. Anyway, so Hawks is all “:) we’re fucked,” agreeing with the consensus the general fandom has come to over the past week, and palling around with his new best friend Dabi as he frantically tries to come up with some kind of plan. Maybe the heroes can try rebranding themselves as “the Supernatural Emancipation Cavalry.” That wouldn’t really solve anything, but it’d be funny to watch the villains come to realize they’re being mocked. Sorry but y’all brought this on yourselves.
(All comments are my unspoiled reactions from my initial readthrough of the chapter. I did a quick edit for grammar and clarity immediately afterward, and added a few ETAs in the process, but aside from that there are no changes.)
so I received an ask from a very kind anon warning me to be careful of spoilers for this chapter. thank you, anon! rest assured that I have been very cautious, and am pleased to inform everyone that I’m diving in spoiler-free this week. so bring on your Kacchan hero names, your Best Jeanist heads, your new Deku quirks, and whatever other twists you want to toss my way, manga. but especially that first one. this arc has been fantastic, but now that it’s wrapping up, I miss my kids and I would like to check in with them soon. they grow up so fast and time is precious
so apparently the title for this chapter is “Power”, which could mean lots of things, but I imagine it’s not something that bodes well for our heroes. honestly does anything bode well for them at this point. they’re not having much luck on the boding front
oh cool, a time jump! so this is apparently now one week after “the deadly battle.” wow, way to sum everything up in the blandest terms possible while still being accurate. like, yeah, that is what it was, but somehow it doesn’t quite communicate the full magnitude of what actually went down, you know?
anyway so the town basically looks like it got hit by a fucking meteor
new crack theory that a time-traveling Shigaraki Tomura is what actually killed the dinosaurs
wow would you fucking look at this
I guess this is the BnHA version of “an unfortunate training exercise”
also I like how they didn’t think it would be believable that one sleepy boi could cause all of this destruction, so they amped it up to twenty fucking guys instead. sob. why did they even bother giving Tomura an army. he is an army
lol the bullshit continues
“reporting to you live from Deika City, an innocent and wholesome country town in no way affiliated with an extreme right-wing quirk supremacist movement, where citizens recently found themselves victims of an entirely unprovoked attack by no fewer than twenty, and definitely more than six, villains. the brave citizens proceeded to fight them off, and definitely killed them all and didn’t surrender to them and elect their leader as their new god. also the president of Detnerat just happened to be there. just coincidentally. he definitely was not the one who instigated the entire thing. when asked for comment, Mr. Yotsubashi responded, quote, ‘nonsense, I’m no hero. would you call a man a hero just because he fought off an army of villains alone and selflessly sacrificed his own legs to ensure that justice prevailed? would you call that heroic? poppycosh. that’s just the kind of man I am. I wouldn’t call myself brave. ‘humble,’ maybe. ‘handsome’, perhaps. but a hero? no. I’m just an everyday, all-around good type of person, that’s all.’ so there you have it. truly a courageous figure. a gallant example of truly stellar fortitude and virtue. we need more Yotsubashi Rikiyas in these trying times. back to you, Jeff”
anyway, so the media in BnHA. fairly gullible, huh?
so now the report is concluding with a statement that the investigation is still ongoing. uh huh. damn they really got away scot-free with all this, huh
and we’re cutting to a close-up of sushi! oh my god. Compress have your dreams finally come true at last
yesssss oh my god. I’m so happy for him
(ETA: on my second read-through I paid attention to try to see whether or not Compress had finally gotten a new robot arm, but it’s impossible to tell. he’s only using his right hand here, and later on when he goes on stage with the rest of them he’s wearing his usual trenchcoat and gloves. I’m just gonna assume he finally got the upgrade he wanted, though. nice to see you so content, Mister I-Ran-Around-A-Lot.)
excuse me, what, Dabi? he didn’t even do anything?? as opposed to you, who basically just set yourself on fire and glared at Frogurt for half a dozen chapters?? don’t hurt yourself climbing back down from that high horse you punk
lol what
I don’t even have to scroll down to the rest of this page to immediately know this is some bullshit. she’s not dead. out of everyone in the League she’s probably third most important after Tomura and Mr. You-Didn’t-Even-Do-Anything above. her quirk is too plot-critical for her to actually be dead. you’re not gonna kill off the ONLY GIRL IN THE LEAGUE OF VILLAINS, either. Horikoshi who do you even think you’re fooling
ah, yep
Togaaaaaaaaa omg. I’d hug you but you’d stab me. but I’m so happy to see you my precious baby girl
and it actually makes sense for Twice to be mourning the clone, though, and I’m glad they showed it. because he of all people understands that the clone is the person to at least some degree. like, it’s nice that he doesn’t just view them as disposable and he respects them. he’s so nice omfg
anyway so it looks like he’s back to being crazy though
oh well, it was nice while it lasted. at least he doesn’t appear traumatized anymore. and he has a boyfriend now too. where is Giran anyway
now fucking Skeptic is walking in like he’s on the set of a fucking sitcom
[canned audience laughter]
nice touch on the following page with Hanabata starting to refer to Re-Destro as “The Supreme...” before catching himself and amending it to just “Re-Destro”
oh wow
damn, LoV, y’all went from poverty straight to the .01%. talk about an upgrade
oh my god there’s a secret passage
oh my god it leads to a secret basement
trying not to think about the last time we were in a secret villain basement. this isn’t like that. relax. that arc is over now. deep breaths
holy shit
this is like the fucking Mines of Moria. complete with a Balrog. jesus christ
omg look who got himself a BRAND NEW SUIT AND TIE ENSEMBLE oh shiiit
is that a fucking fur-lined coat. Shigaraki Tomura has officially upgraded to KHR Villain status. what a little shit. I adore you, you son of a bitch
and I thought he destroyed all the hands?? come on dude, I know it’s like your signature look, but I was hoping we were going in a different direction from here on out. ah well
wow, Horikoshi
just once. just once I would like this man to leave a plothole unaddressed for more than one page. god I love this manga
anyway so they’re fully lampshading the fact that this one hand somehow miraculously survived, and they’re all “I guess it’s his trademark, huh?” yep, that’s right. his lewk. now be quiet, you two. which of us is doing the recap here
so now RD is up on stage showing off the weirdest fucking wheelchair I’ve ever seen, and singing Tomura’s praises
it’s remarkable how quickly his ego adapted to his brand new role as head of Tomura’s PR. he almost seems to be enjoying this more than when he was the leader
oh shit??
A NEW NAME?? oh my god. edge of my seat. can’t wait. take it away boys
LOOOOOOOL what
sob this makes it sound like they do ghost investigations. is there a League of Villains Buzzfeed Unsolved AU. this is what happens when you put the otaku in charge of the name
just. why paranormal. they thought it sounded cool?? and am I really supposed to type out PLF and not pronounce it like “pliff” in my head moving forward?? yeah, that’s not happening. you guys are now PLIFF. congratulations
thank god they’ve still got Tomura to lend legitimacy to this whole ridiculous operation. god, there’s something I never thought I’d say. Tomura why are you now the part of the League -- excuse me, PLIFF -- that I actually take the most seriously. god
y’all heard the man. whatever we want. this is happening. just remember kid, you gave me permission
holy shit you guys is that motherfucking Carvel!?!? I was staring at the panel all “WHO IS THIS” and wondering if they’d somehow brought Kizuki back to life, oh my god. I’m fucking dying send help. he looks like Galaxy Express 999. my brain is short-circuiting
anyway so everyone is all HOORAY WE LOVE THIS and they’re all cheering
HOMBGLKDF
DSLFKSHDLGK HEY BOY, HOW ARE YOU LIKING BEING A MEMBER OF THIS NEW HERE VILLAIN CULT. WHERE’S THE FUCKING BAG, HAWKS
SDFKSJDLFKSDLKFH A FLASHBACK AHHHHHH
I CAN’T TURN THE PAGE OH GOD NO SOMEBODY ELSE DO IT
OH MOTHERFUCKING SHIT
my jaw just. fucking. -- -----------
okay Hawks. fucking explain. how did you do it. is it a fake?? surely it’s not the real deal?? oh god, the memes have now become terribly real. I have no choice but to embrace this with even more stupid jokes and memes as a coping mechanism or I’m gonna lose it
but for real, they didn’t seriously do my boy Jeanist like that. Paramount Optimal Jeanist did not survive a point-blank attack from motherfucking All For One just to get shanked by Hawks so that he could get good with PLIFF, only to be, and I quote, “too late...!”
(ETA: and on readthrough #2, Dabi does indeed bring up the fact that this might not actually be Jeanist’s corpse. “setting aside the issue of whether he is who you say he is...” so even he acknowledges that shenanigans could be afoot.
but he seems convinced it’s a real body at the very least. though did it never occur to you that he could have just picked it up from the morgue, dude? that’s gonna be my go-to theory for now at any rate.)
is now a good time for me to bring up something I’ve been wondering about for a while, which is how Bakugou is going to take this? yes, Bakugou. “okay makeste, I know he’s your favorite and I know you miss him, but what kind of mental cartwheels are you doing in order to make this situation with Hawks and PLIFF somehow relate to Bakugou Katsuki, whom we last saw twenty fucking chapters ago, and who has absolutely nothing to do with this?”
well I’m glad you asked, and you see, it’s because (a) the internship, and (b) because we already know Katsuki blames himself for at least one hero’s downfall as a result of what happened in Kamino, and I could easily see him having a similar response to Best Jeanist’s injury and subsequent disappearance. like, we already know this shit is all over the news. and Bakugou knows Jeanist personally. and so now what with him being missing, I can’t help but wonder if he’ll blame himself again for being the reason Jeanist was there at Kamino, and lost a lung, and so forth
and I realize this tangent is coming sort of out of left field, but seeing as this arc is finally wrapping up, and we can expect to cut back to the U.A. kids again soon, I just figured I’d bring it up now, because we’ll see if I’m right or not shortly
anyway. so let’s get back on topic. best dead Jeanist. oh god
but it seems like it did, at least, finally convince Dabi of Hawks’s sincere villainous intentions. so we have that one minor win, I guess. congratulations Hawks, now you know about the secret villain basement and their new rebranding. was it worth it you bastard
oh shit. actually, maybe it was. because now he understands just how incredibly screwed they are sob
so he doesn’t know for sure about the Noumu yet. so Tomura still has that little ace up his sleeve. fucking great
but him knowing about the Detnerat thing is big, though. so now the heroes know not to trust any of their equipment, or any of their lackeys like fucking Slidin’ Go. that’s something, at least
and you gotta love the whole “equal to, if not greater than” bit, sob. never in my life have I ever seen something so egregiously understated. “Shigaraki might be more powerful than the heroes at this point” yeah, you think!? god
holy shit Re-Destro calm the fuck down
Tomura’s telling him to get lost, and he’s immediately making himself scarce lol. good riddance
and Tomura is now kneeling dramatically and pounding his fist on the floor. okay
hey
I take offense, sir. “League of Villains” had a timeless air about it. and more importantly, you couldn’t abbreviate it to the sound that someone makes when they plop down tiredly onto a couch
oh shit!!!!
THIS LAST PAGE HAD BETTER BE A TERRIFYING PANEL OF THE HIGH END NOUMUS, OMG. I’M HOLDING MY BREATH
GODDAMMIT IT’S JUST ANOTHER SEXY CLOSEUP OF TOMURA’S FACE
I mean, can you actually call it that at this point? can you actually “grant” something to someone if they already have more of it than they know what to do with?
but I mean, we know what he really means though, so fair enough
oh ffs now he’s saying “but first there’s something I’d like you to do for me” oh my god enough with these side quests!
he wants him to transport something, apparently. ARE YOU HATCHING SOME NEW SCHEME oh gosh
oh my god and meanwhile Hotwings is becoming canon right before our eyes holy shit
of course!! he’s fucking thrilled!! everything is just!! so great!! right now!! :)!!!!!
oh my god Hawks
“Endeavor, and everyone” I see what you did there kid
(ETA: and as far as I recall, Endeavor doesn’t even know about his undercover mission yet. I wonder how he’s going to react when he finds out. your adopted son is now best friends with your presumed-dead son! and in mortal danger omg.)
wow. wow. and that’s the end of the chapter. fucking shit
so! lots to process! Hawks really did it! the absolute madman!! and Dabi fucking loves him now, which is great, if you like things that inevitably end in tragedy. then that’s great for you. but otherwise I guess it’s not so great
so I wonder if our next arc will be the Undercover Hawks Antics arc, or if we’ll be getting back to Deku and the gang. I’m guessing the latter because it’s been a while, but it’s definitely exciting to see this particular plotline finally advancing and becoming more intricate
so basically I have no idea what to expect next week. which is amazing. I’m so fucking excited. now if Horikoshi could just leave us all a little pity disclaimer clarifying that no Jeanists were actually harmed in the making of this chapter and that it was all CGI or some shit, that would be great :/

Three Simple Words (Albert)
Summary: Reader and albert have it pretty good except reader gets drunk and reveals true feelings yikes
Warnings: okay so some allusion (did i use that word right) to sex, underage drinking and drunkenness, fluff

“Baby, come on, you know the party won’t be as fun without you.” Albert said, holding your hand as the two of you walked into school.
“But Halloween parties are the same every year. Someone mixes vodka with fruit punch and it’s gone within the first hour. And it usually ends with someone being caught having sex.” You said.
“This year’ll be fun though, because now we’re dating and so it’s different.” While it was worded incredibly ridiculous, Albert did have a point.
“Fine, I’ll go, but I’m just gonna drink a lot.” You said, causing Albert to smile and lean in to kiss you. You closed the gap, and you suddenly realized you and Albert had become every cliche couple ever.
You had met Albert in sophomore year, during Spanish class. He sat in front of you, and you guys started talking immediately. He had this way about him, that made you instantly attracted to him. And it wasn’t until the end of junior year when Albert finally said something. By that time, you and Albert were talking pretty much every day, and you knew you were definitely in love with him. It was a kind of love where you wanted to be with him everyday, and you wanted to know even the weirdest things about him.
The day he asked you out was one of the happiest days of your life. It was after school, and Albert was driving you home, and he just let it slip.
“So, do you maybe wanna go on a date?” He asked you, causing you to choke on your water.
“With you?” You asked. Obviously you, Y/N, you idiot.
“Nevermind, forget it, it was stupid, just forget I said-”
“No! I want to date you!” You exclaimed, smiling once the feeling sunk in that you were gonna date your long time crush.
And now it was almost 6 months and you still felt the same way. Except there was this one tiny thing that made you weary. You’ve told Albert you loved him, multiple times, and he hasn’t. It wasn’t like you were trying to force him to say it, just after saying it to him a bunch of times, it felt as if he didn’t feel the same way you did.
“Hey I gotta go to class, but we’re going tonight?” He asked, rubbing his thumb over your knuckles.
“Yeah, sure.” You said, and he kissed you quickly one more time. “I love you.”
“I’ll see you after school.” He said, starting to walk away, catching up to another one of his friends. You continued to stand there, watching him walk away, trying not to let your smile falter. He had the perfect opportunity to say it back, but he didn’t. It was fine, everything was gonna be fine.
Albert didn’t know anything about love. He grew up in a house full of boys, his mom died when he was six. His brothers and dad didn’t really show much affection towards each other. He had an idea of love, like he loves lacrosse, he loves carbonated drinks, he loves food. But the love he felt towards you was a complete different kind of love. Every time he saw you, he got butterflies in his stomach, and when he saw you smile, he swore it was the most beautiful thing he’s seen in his life. He didn’t know how to express that, because what he felt, was new, and more than love.
You were laying in Albert’s bed with him after school, just scrolling on your phone. He had an arm wrapped around you and the other was holding his phone. The party didn’t start till seven, so the both of you had some time to kill. You turned around, facing Albert and watching his face. You leaned in to kiss him. He reciprocated, pulling you on top of him.
“Are we doing this?” You asked, pulling away briefly to face Albert.
“Are you okay with it?” He asked, massaging your hips. You nodded and leaned back to kiss him.
“Y/N! You made it!” Elmer exclaimed, opening up the door and dragging you inside.
“Okay, how much have you had to drink already, Elmer?” You asked, smiling a little as Albert found another group to talk to.
“Doesn’t matter, we have booze.” He said, giving you a solo cup full of some liquid. “Also, you aren’t dressed up, it’s a Halloween party!”
“I uh, ran out of time.” You said, taking a sip of the mysterious liquid.
“Yeah, we can tell.” He retorted, pointing to a forming bruise on your neck. You laughed with him and continued to make small talk as more people started showing up.
Two hours into the party, everyone was either super drunk or asleep. Like, Race and Spot were on the couch, making out, and Finch and Buttons were curled up on the reclining chair, asleep. You were in the kitchen with Katherine, drinking more. Katherine was drinking lemonade while you downed your fourth cup.
“He won’t even say ‘I love you’!” You exclaimed, throwing the cup on the floor. “We’ve been dating a long time now, like, a million months, and he won’t even say it!”
“Y/N, it’s okay, he’ll get around to it.” Katherine replied, putting a hand on your shoulder. But you jumped off the counter, and in your drunken state, it seemed like a good idea to confront Albert.
“No, we need to talk, right here, right now.” You said, walking toward him.
“No! Y/N, maybe that’s not the best idea, you’re clearly drunk, and we’re at a party!” Katherine said, but it was too late, you were already tapping Albert on the shoulder. Katherine put a hand over her face, not wanting to see how this will end up.
“Why won’t you tell me you love me?” You snapped at Albert, his smile off his face falling once he saw you. His group went silent, practically the whole room went silent. Even Spot and Race sat up, watching the interaction.
“Y/N, what are-what are you talking about?” He said, putting a hand on your shoulder, but you brushed it off.
“I tell you I love you all the time, even earlier, when we were-”
“Okay, you are very, very intoxicated right now, and you don’t know what you’re saying. Let’s go home.” He said, taking your hand.
“No! I want to know why, why, why don’t you love me?” You said, your mood turning from angry to sad. Tears welled up in your eyes.
“Okay, we’re going home. Goodbye everyone, I’ll see you at school on Monday.” Albert said, gently leading you to his car. You were still crying, but mostly confused as to what was going on.
“Where are we going?” You hiccuped, crawling into the car.
“We’re going to my house, and you’re going to sleep for 12 hours.” Albert responded, putting your seatbelt on for you.
The drive to his house was practically silent, except you were humming a tune and tapping the window. Normally, Albert would be smiling, but he was more worried than anything. He was worried that you didn’t want to be with him anymore, he was worried about how long you’ve felt this way. He wanted to ask you, but you were so drunk he didn’t think he’d get an answer out of you.
Arriving at Albert’s house, Albert cursed that his bedroom was up the stairs because it was going to take even longer getting you into bed. There was an option of having you sleep on the couch, but he didn’t want his dad to be shocked in the morning, so he’d make that struggle for you. You put your arms around his neck and he lifted you into his arms, ready to get a semi-workout. What he wasn’t expecting, however, was one of his older brothers to be home and in the living room, the room where he had to walk through to get to his room.
“Hey Al, where you been all night?” His brother asked. “Is that Y/N?”
“Yeah, uh, if you could not tell dad that-”
“Hey! It’s Albert’s brother!” You exclaimed, giggling and awkwardly waving at him. He waved back at you momentarily, before turning to Albert again.
“How drunk are they?” His brother asked.
“Uh, I don’t know.” He replied. “But we’re going to bed.”
Albert walked upstairs slowly, and letting a breath of relief when he got to his room. He gently laid you down on the bed, and took of your shoes.
“Okay just sleep now, we’ll talk in the morning.” He said, kissing you on the forehead, and he pulled the blankets over you.
You woke up in the morning with a killer headache, but the moment you turned your head, there was a glass of water and two ibuprofen next to it. You sat up, looking for your boyfriend, but he was nowhere to be found. But right after that thought crossed your mind, he walked in.
“Good, you’re up.” He said, taking a seat next to you. “Do you remember anything about last night?”
“Uhm, I remember drinking a lot in the kitchen, I remember wondering where Davey and Jack went halfway through the night, I remember Katherine and I talking, and I remember,” You paused, gasping slightly when you realized what else happened that night. “Oh no, Albert, I’m so sorry, I don’t know why I said that.”
“You do know why you said it, what’s going on?” He asked, putting a hand on your leg.
“I don’t know, it’s just, upsetting that I’ve said it a bunch, and you never respond. I don’t want to be in a relationship that’s not going anywhere.” You responded. “But I do wanna be with you, I just don’t know how serious this is.”
“You make me so incredibly happy, and I want to say it, but you make me so nervous.” He said. “Okay, that sounds bad. But, I mean that when you walk into a room, my heart explodes.”
“Albert, it’s okay, it was a lot to ask-”
“No, because I do love you, and I’m just a wimp who can’t express feelings correctly.” He said. “And I should’ve said it a lot sooner-”
You cut Albert off by connecting your lips to his, and he put a hand on your cheek, pulling you closer to him.

A Game
-
Pairing: Lee Donghae x Reader
Genre: Fluff
Request: “ can you pretty please write an scenario with donghae with the prompts 2,20 ? Thank u chullie♥ “ - Anon
Prompts:
2. “My love for you is as big as… a very big thing.”
20. “I’m calling it! We are dating.”
Word Count: 1576
Lee Donghae was handsome, for sure. That much you admit to yourself. But what you couldn’t admit was how much you loved him. You had known him for so long, and you had always thought he was adorable, yet handsome. But other people thought so too, so you didn’t think any of it. It was when he suddenly started being really kind to you that you realized just how amazing he was. Eventually, your feelings for him grew.
And now, here you were, head over heels for Lee Donghae. He was perfect for you in every way, he was cute, dorky and adorably awkward. You knew your feelings for him, but you didn’t want to admit it to yourself. You couldn’t love him like this, but it was too late.
Suddenly you got a text. It was from Donghae. Your face lit up when you saw his name on the phone’s screen. You didn’t even think as you unlocked your phone and checked the message.
Hi! Could we meet? I got something to tell you, it said.
You felt a little nervous, what could he want to talk about? It sounded serious. Maybe it was about his work? He would be really busy, perhaps. You swallowed but decided to joke a little.
Oh? Don’t tell me you’re breaking up with me, you joked.
Then came in a weird response, something that made you completely puzzled.
No, the opposite. Are you busy?
You stared at your screen for a while, your eyebrows furrowed. What could he mean? Was he joking? But it looked serious, why would he be kidding?
You then finally wrote in a text, No I’m not. Do you want to meet now?
Yes, please. It’s important.
You stared at that text, wondering. What would be that important? Maybe he had a fight with Eunhyuk or something, that would make the most sense. But still, “the opposite” was the weirdest part.
You texted him a quick text. I’ll come to your place now.
Great!
You sighed. You were getting more scared by every second. What could he possibly want to tell you?
You tried to shake it off as you grabbed your phone and your keys, heading out of your apartment and making your way to Donghae.
-
As you got in front of Donghae’s place, you stopped for a moment. You just suddenly felt really scared. You knew he loved you, you two were good friends, so you didn’t think it would be something about that. But suddenly, you wondered, what if that was it?
You took a deep breath and then took the steps to the door. You tried to pat dust that wasn’t there out of your clothes, feeling nervous. You waited after you knocked on the door.
Soon Donghae opened the door, a smile on his face.
“Hi!” he greeted you excitedly.
“Hi.” You waved your hand to him and smiled back.
“Come in.” He gestured you to get inside and went to the side. You nodded your head and walked past him inside.
He closed the door behind you. You turned to look at him and he looked back, still wearing that smile. He looked excited for some reason. You were confused. Your previous nervousness almost went away completely. Maybe he was just being dramatic and only wanted to hang out?
“Come, let’s go to the living room!” Donghae said excitedly, then grabbed your hand, pulling you with him.
He dragged you with him to sit on the couch. You landed next to him on the soft furniture, your own back hitting the back of it. You looked at him, raising your eyebrow as he stared at you with his eyes open like a little child.
“What?” you asked him as he wasn’t even blinking. It looked a little creepy.
“I have something to tell you”, he explained.
Then there were a few seconds of silence. You were waiting for him to talk, but he didn’t, so you opened your mouth to speak. “And?”
“Aah... It’s embarrassing”, he leaned back, scratching the back of his neck.
“Oh my god, Donghae. I am your friend”, you rolled your eyes. “You know you can tell me anything you want to.”
“Well...” he looked away, anywhere, but you.
You shook your head, smirking as a thought popped up in your head.
“You and Eunhyuk are dating, aren’t you?” you asked that smirk on your lips. It seemed to caught Donghae off guard as he gasped and nearly blushed at your joke.
You laughed at his adorable reaction, to which he pouted like a little child. After you stopped your laughing, you reached your hand to him and pinched his cheek.
“I’m just kidding”, you said. “Well... Unless you two are dating?”
“No, we aren’t”, he said. “That would make this awkward...”
You narrowed your eyes as you stared at him, trying to read his face. “What do you mean?”
Donghae took a deep breath, then showed you a very serious look, though knowing him, it just made him look more like a little baby. He gazed into your eyes and you did so back, though you couldn’t help the warmth that was rising in your cheeks.
“You know that I love you”, he said more like as a matter of fact.
You nodded your head slowly. “Yeah...”
“My love for you is as big as…” he paused to think. “... a very big thing.”
You blinked your eyes repeatedly, being very confused more than anything. Why was he suddenly saying this?
You still chuckled. “Is that all you could think of? ‘A very big thing’?”
“I don’t know what’s big!” he said, flailing his arms up.
You shook your head. “Okay, but why are you even saying this?”
“Because... I...” He placed his finger near his mouth as if he was thinking. He looked really adorable when he did so.
Suddenly he pointed the finger up and his eyes lit up. “Hey!” he nearly shouted. “Let’s play a game!”
You squinted your eyes while your brows were furrowed, showing him a face that had “what in the name of Siwon are you doing” written all over. He ignored it or just didn’t notice as his smile grew.
“What game?” you then finally asked.
“A game I call ‘Calling it!’“ he explained.
You tilted your head to the side. “I’ve never heard of that.”
“Oh, it’s simple!” He sat a little closer to you. “You start your sentence with ‘I’m calling it’ and then continue it with something like ‘we are eating soup today’.”
“We are eating soup??” you got excited and leaned in, ignoring what he had said before because soup. Soup was life.
“No silly, it was an example”, he sighed.
“But soup”, you pouted.
“Just... Okay, I’ll start.” He rubbed his hands together, pointing then his finger at you. “I’m calling it! We are dating.”
Your eyes grew larger. “Wait, what?”
“You heard me”, Donghae said with an innocent tone. “I don’t make the rules.”
“But you literally just made the rules.” You shook your head.
“Oh... I guess I did”, he shrugged. “But still, we are now dating.”
“Do I not get a say in this?” You crossed your arms, raising your brow, but an amused grin formed slowly on your lips.
Donghae seemed shocked as he nearly jumped backwards, his mouth open. “O-of course you do! I’m so sorry I didn’t mean-”
“Because, I’ll say yes”, you interrupted him, that grin still on your face.
The man sitting in front of you stopped his movement, freezing in one place. He blinked his eyes as he stared at you for a few long seconds.
“Wait. You say ‘yes’?” he asked carefully.
“Yes”, you said, nodding your head. “Donghae, I’ve liked you for a while.”
He pursed his lips together, moving his head like a puppy that looks confused. “You have?”
“Yes, I have.”
“Oh... I didn’t know.” He scratched his head. “I’ve liked you for some time as well.”
Your both brows rose. “You have??”
“Yeah. I mean how couldn’t I?” he asked like it was obvious. “You are perfect.”
You chuckled, a smile forming on your lips. You looked at him, and he looked back. You both wanted the same thing, and you didn’t need to speak to each other to let you know what it was.
He leaned in a little, and you did the same. Both of you closed your eyes before your lips touched for a quick and cute kiss. It lasted only a few seconds, but it meant everything.
Donghae quickly leaned back, letting out what sounded like a giggle. What a cute man he was. He then looked at you with hope shining in his brown eyes.
“So... Are we really dating?” he asked to make sure.
You nodded once firmly. “Yes, we are.”
“I am... so happy”, Donghae spoke silently. “How did I not see that you felt the same way about me as I did of you?”
“I don’t know”, you shrugged your shoulders. “I guess we are both pretty clueless.”
Then you stood up from the couch, looking over at Donghae. He watched your every move.
“I’m calling it!” you suddenly said and pointed at him. “You’re making me soup now!”
Donghae let out a laugh, getting up after. He reached out to grab your hand, looking at you with a very bright smile framing his face.
“Okay, my clueless sweetheart.”

Shadow
Summary: ‘“You would not believe the day I’ve had,” Mike sighs, tossing his bag onto the counter.
Will looks up from the stove, where he’s cooking rice. “Well hello to you, too.”’
Mike has a story to report on, and Will’s suspiciously not pleased.
Pairings: Mike/Will, background Lucas/Max, past Mike/El
Notes: It’s a future-fic, about 4,200 words, with the whole Party mentioned if not involved somehow. It’s set in the mid 1990′s, most of the Party is either done with school or going to grad school. Mike’s a reporter for the NYT, Will is a freelance artist applying for a teaching job, Lucas is going to school for engineering, Dustin is a marine biologist, El is doing vigilante work, and Max’s occupation isn’t mentioned but I’m going to tell you right now that she’s a stunt coordinator for movies. There are a few suuuper minor original characters mostly there to push the plot forward.
prompt: @ anon: Wait, my hero’s secret identity is… you? To be honest, I’d kind of always hoped… + Byeler
Posted on Ao3 here as well as written out below the cut. Enjoy!
November
“Hey,” the woman snaps, grabbing his arm. She’s young, with startlingly piercing eyes—and a really annoyed expression. “You work here?”
Mike blinks at her, coffee clutched in his hand, her own hand on his wrist. “Well, that’s what it says here.” He points at his ID, hanging around his neck, with his free hand. “Um. Who are you?”
“I need to speak with someone who can write an article,” she continues, not answering the question. “I have a story.”
“Your name, miss,” Mike insists, because look. He’d be happy to help. But she probably doesn’t have clearance to even be in the building, and if he can’t even bring Will in for the occasional lunch then he can’t let some random lady in, either.
“Kara Sigo,” she says, finally. “And before you ask, no, I’m not supposed to be here, but I need to speak with someone who’ll listen to my story.”
Mike takes a moment—just a moment. He’s bored, okay? “Okay. I can listen. Ten minutes.”
She grins at him, smile thin. “Sure. You’re gonna end up listening to me for a longer time than that, anyway.”
“You would not believe the day I’ve had,” Mike sighs, tossing his bag onto the counter.
Will looks up from the stove, where he’s cooking rice. “Well hello to you, too.”
Mike sighs again, making his way to the small fridge. “Sorry. Hi. It’s been crazy.”
“Tell me,” Will says, flicking off the burner and spooning some rice onto small plates. There’s a little bit of chicken in the fridge, so Mike pulls that out.
“Some woman came in to the building today,” Mike starts, picking up forks. “Got past security—the New York Times, what awesome safety precautions! Anyway, she told me this whole story about how some guy tried to mug her last night. And that’s not weird at all, but what she said next was.” He waves his fork before scooping up some rice. “She said that somebody, some shadowy figure, just, like. Appeared. And saved her. Knocked the guy right out and then vanished just like he’d come. She couldn’t even see what he looked like.”
Will looks startled, eyes slightly wide. His food remains nearly untouched on the counter. “Huh,” he says, letting a little huff out of his nose.
“The weirdest thing?” Mike says. “I believe her.” Will blinks and he shrugs. “We’ve seen stranger stuff, right? El, the Upside-Down, everything we know about Eight—Kali. Maybe this guy is another subject.” He leans forward onto the counter. “Should we call El? I mean, you guys have been working with Owens, trying to find the others. Maybe this is a lead.”
Will doesn’t respond for a moment, looking lost in thought, so Mike nudges him. Will looks at him. “Yeah, sure. I’ll check in with her.”
“At least,” Mike says after a moment, “I believe she believes what she saw. If this doesn’t pan out.”
“Hmm.”
They eat in silence for a while, the scraping of forks against plates the only noise.
“Oh,” Will says suddenly, setting his fork down. “Lucas called earlier. He’s got a few days off in a week, so he’s gonna come visit. Max’s schedule may line up, too, but they’re not sure yet.”
“Alright,” Mike shrugs. “Remind me to clean beforehand and we’ll be good.” He pauses. “Wait, when did Lucas call? When did you get back?”
Will shrugs. “He called around noon, and I got back at around… three in the morning? Good to know I didn’t wake you up. I tried to get home earlier, but Mrs. Rodriguez insisted on her kitchen getting finished literally yesterday so I had to finish up the paint job.”
“Man, she’s a piece of work,” Mike laughs, throwing his head back. “She’s kept you overtime at least five times!”
Will laughs, too. “Well, you’ll be glad to know that I finished that project. I’m gonna be working on a mural for that school down the street for a few weeks while my job applications get reviewed.”
“Good,” Mike says firmly. “You deserve that job, you’ve wanted to teach art for ages.”
“Thanks, Mike.” Will looks down as he says it, face slightly pink, and Mike grins. He takes pride in being one of the few who can make Will see how highly others think of him.
“Always,” Mike says, because it’s true.
Kara is sitting at his desk the next morning, and Mike stops in his tracks as he sees her. “Jesus. We really need actual security.” He plasters on a smile and walks towards her. “Miss Sigo. As much as your story interests me, you really should call ahead.”
“Kara,” she replies. “Call me Kara. You can’t be very old, and it’s weird for someone around my age to be calling me ‘miss’. And I will call ahead next time.”
“Better late than never, I guess,” Mike shrugs. There’s gonna be a next time? “So, Kara, what brings you back here?”
“My story,” she says like he’s an idiot. “Except it just got better.” She tips her head at a younger girl hovering by the wall, who Mike hadn’t noticed. “She goes to school with my younger sister. She heard my story and came to talk to me right away. She met the shadow figure, too.” Kara gestures for the girl to come over, and she does. Slowly.
“Hi,” she says, voice soft. “I’m Jen. And Kara’s right. I saw him.” She leans forward, voice dropping until she’s basically whispering in his ear. “And even better: I remember what he looks like.”
The story gets published, and there are four additional witnesses for Mike to add to the piece—two older women, an older man, and a teenage boy. The story probably is helped along by the fact that the boy is his boss’s nephew.
And there’s a drawing. One of the witnesses, the older man, is a freelance artist like Will, and Mike gives him the task of drawing what Jen had seen. And, look—it’s a good drawing but not a great likeness, there’s still far too much shadow across his face. But you can see a man there—no, a boy around, Mike’s age. Young, narrow and sharp, pale, hair flopping over his forehead, frown playing across his lips. It could be almost anyone, or at least, any young light-skinned guy. But there’s—there’s a person there.
He comes home that day in a happy daze, but as soon as he walks into the apartment he and Will share he’s met with a sharp smacking sound as a copy of the New York Times bounces off his chest.
“Ow,” he says belatedly, even though it didn’t hurt because it’s a paper. But Will is still standing there, glaring at him. “What?”
“Why did you publish this?” Will asks. He nudges the paper with a toe, and Mike feels a flash of annoyance.
“I write stuff, Will,” he says. “That’s my job. This story fell into my lap, and you know I had to take it.”
“It can’t be safe, Mike,” Will protests. “You—you know what this is like. Do you—do you see the byline?”
Mike rolls his eyes. “Yes, Will, I see my name.”
“No, Mike!” he snaps. “This is you. People will know who you are. People who might think this is fake could ruin you, and the people who committed those crimes will look at you!”
“So what? It’s not dangerous, is it? You said El didn’t know anything about this guy, so he’s not a lab subject. First-person accounts aren’t always accurate. The adrenaline can get to the witnesses. Kara and Jen and the others might have just seen some guy save them in the middle of the night and the power of suggestion got to them. It could just be a normal guy. So it’s fine.” Mike knows, as he says it, that it sounds stupid and contradictory. How would six different people have those same accounts? And it’s not like he doubts this shadow man could exist—he’s seen so much weirder. But. “Don’t take this from me, Will. Please. This is—this is big. Powers or not, this guy is giving me a real story.”
He doesn’t want to fight, and Will must see it on his face, because his own face relaxes, resigned. “Yeah. I just—yeah. I worry.”
“I know.” Mike steps forward, over the fallen paper, and hugs Will tight. “You don’t have to.”
“Yes, I do,” Will mutters into his shoulder, softly, and Mike just holds him closer.
“So, Max called me yesterday and said she’d come in three days. She’s gonna try to stay with a cousin in Brooklyn, but if that falls through…” Lucas trails off as he glances out the window of diner, his implication clear. The rapidly darkening sky casts a purple haze across the restaurant.
“Of course she can stay with us,” Mike assures him, glancing at Will, in the seat next to him, to make sure there’s no dissent. There doesn’t seem to be any. “Seriously, we’ve got everything all set for you guys. Dude. Tell us what you’ve been up to!”
Lucas grins and launches into an explanation of his engineering classes at Brown, excited, and Mike can’t blame him—Lucas is so close to being done with college, for real. It’s something he and Will both can’t really relate to, seeing as they only went to typical four years and then immediately looked for a job. No; Lucas wants it all, and he’s good enough for it.
He casts a glance at Will, who is looking at Lucas, but he notices his brow is furrowed and his head tilted, like he’s listening to something faint. Mike hooks his ankle into Will’s for a moment, startling him. You okay? he mouths, and when Will just shrugs and smiles in return, Mike accepts that. Will doesn’t really hide stuff from him anymore, not since the Mind Flayer. There hasn’t really been a point.
“And you guys?” Lucas finishes. “El calls me, like, once every two weeks, so I know a little bit about Will, but Dustin’s always just talking about marine biology, which isn’t any help.” He grins a little. “But I saw that Mikey-boy has an article out! A big one, huh?”
“Yeah,” Mike tries to tamp down a proud smile. “I didn’t really do anything. The story happened to fall to me, and I did the interviews and wrote the article.”
“He’s being humble,” Will counters, standing. “Mike’s a really good reporter. Now, I have to use the bathroom, so I’ll be right back.” He makes his way to the back, and Mike watches him until he turns the corner.
Instantly, Lucas leans across the table. “So. How are you guys?”
“We just told you,” Mike replies, confused. “Fine. Jobs are fi—”
“No, not the jobs,” Lucas dismisses. “I mean you guys. As humans. Living together still working out and everything? You… I don’t know, dating anyone?”
“No,” Mike says, maybe a little too quick for his own liking, but there’s something in Lucas’s tone that makes him nervous. Lucas doesn’t seem to notice. “I mean, living together is fine. Good. Saves money, and we get along, obviously. My job makes enough, and Will gets those government subsidies. But dating… no, not that. Too busy, I guess, and El and I didn’t carry on like you and Max did. Again. Obviously. You knew that, you were there.” God, he’s rambling for no reason. Will better get back soon, because he’s making a fool of himself.
As if on cue, Will appears from the back of the diner, smoothing down his shirt. He drops back into his seat in the booth, next to Mike. “Alright, where were we? Did I miss anything?”
“Not really, I—who, dude!” Lucas cuts himself off, eyebrows shooting up. Will looks vaguely startled by his rapid reaction. “Your nose is bleeding.”
“Oh, shit.” Mike’s startled by Will’s curse, because he doesn’t really do it, but the amount of blood pooling on Will’s upper lip probably does warrant it. He snatches up a napkin and hands it to Will, who pinches his nose with it.
“What happened?” Mike asks.
“No clue,” Will replies, muffled through the napkin. “It’s kind of dry out, that’s always what Hopper said makes some people’s noses bleed.”
“Speaking of a Hopper,” Lucas says. “El told me a little bit about that project of yours, using the lab systems to find the others. Tell me about it. As much as you can, I know it’s classified.”
Will grins around the napkin. “Oh, you’re gonna love it.”
And Mike listens, because he really does want to hear about this.
The next day, he arrives at work to find an unfamiliar boy at his desk.
“Uh, hi,” he says, and when the boy turns around Mike takes a step back. He looks terrible—sixteen or seventeen at the oldest, bruise on his cheek, cuts and scratches up his neck and onto his face.
“Hi,” the boy replies. “You’re Michael Wheeler?”
“Yep.”
“Good. Hi. I need to talk to you about the man, the man in the dark. He saved my life last night.”
“Look, Will, are you sure El didn’t know him?” Mike pesters. “I know I said it could just be a normal guy. But someone else saw the shadowy guy yesterday, barely a block from where we were with Lucas! And he gave some pretty good descriptions, and. I just. I really think he has powers.” He sighs, running a hand through his hair. “The kid today, James, said that this guy was… shrouded in smoke. He could disappear and reappear places, and the smoke could hold things and move stuff. And he said the guy attacking him… James said it looked like he thought he was going insane, like the shadow man was talking to him up here.” He taps his head. “I don’t know. Just. Maybe I should call El.”
“She said no, Mike,” Will insists. “Look, I’ll ask her to look into it again if you want. But maybe you should let it go. Maybe this guy is covering himself in smoke for a reason, so no one knows who he is. His face is always in shadow, right?” He sounds uncertain, like he’s not sure what to say. That puzzles Mike, because Will is always calm and collected. Ever since the Mind Flayer, Will just… knows. He knows what to do. Maybe being so close to dying gave him perspective or something, but it doesn’t matter because the bottom line is that being uncertain isn’t Will’s forte. Mike… he has to wonder what Will doesn’t want him knowing about the shadow. If maybe he knows something he shouldn’t.
“Shadow,” Mike mutters. “Yeah.”
His next piece is titled just that.
SHADOW: New York’s Silent Hero
And people read it.
Including, it appears, all the way in Amsterdam.
“Hello?” he says into the phone. Will’s out grocery shopping, and Lucas and Max are probably out at some bar, so Mike is eating dinner by himself in the kitchen.
“Mike Wheeler!” an angry voice yells, and he winces, pulling it away from his ear.
“El?” he asks. “Uh. Hi?”
“Your… article! Dad called me and told me about the… the Shadow! You should have told me sooner. I can’t look at our research until I get back from Europe!”
“You’re in Europe?”
“Amsterdam. Yes. Tracking down a lead on Six. That’s not the point. Why didn’t you call?”
“I…” Then he realizes. “I thought Will did.”
“Well, he didn’t.”
“He said he did.”
“He… what?”
Mike suddenly feels numb. “He lied to me.” It’s unreal. “He lied to me.”
“Mike,” El says, suddenly sounding hesitant. “Mike, just think for a minute—”
“He lied.” He lowers the phone. “El. I’ll call you back.”
“No, no, Mike, maybe Will is—”
He puts the phone back into the cradle and grabs his jacket. The door slams shut behind him.
He runs down the street, in the direction of the store Will said he was going to, thoughts going by as fast as his feet are taking him.
Because Will lied to him. And the thought crosses his mind—maybe Will is the Shadow. The heroics make sense. But he can’t be, because Will doesn’t have powers, hasn’t shown any sort of ability in the ten-plus years the Upside Down has been open to him.
So it can’t be him. But. Will knows something.
A yell catches Mike’s attention and he skids to a stop, backtracking slightly to glance down an alley. And—
There’s a man in there, a young girl scrambling back, as the shadowy figure puts distance between them.
It takes Mike’s breath away for a moment—the interviews really didn’t do his appearance justice. The shadows are inky, darker than the night sky, spiraling around to safely shield the girl and trap the man. His feet don’t seem to touch the floor, and his eyes are pinpricks of light in the dark. It’s—something. It’s really something.
The girl finally makes it to Mike, but she doesn’t stop. She stumbles to her feet and runs, and that’s when the man turns—probably to catch his target before she can leave.
Instead, he sees Mike.
Mike hears the gun before he sees it—a bang and then a flash of dark metal. He’s ninety-nine percent sure it’s a killing shot and there’s not even enough time to brace himself and then—
It stops. The bullet stops, midair. And then it drops to the ground.
“Put the gun down,” Shadow says, and his voice is really terribly familiar, laced with an echoey tone that makes him sound a million miles away, “or I will make you.”
The man doesn’t do it, frozen in place, glaring.
“Put it down,” he repeats, and the man’s hands shake a little but don’t let go.
“Fuck outta here,” the man swears, entire body taut like a stretched rubber band. Shadow glares at him and he twitches violently. “Get out of my head!”
“Your mind is strong, I’ll give you that,” Shadow says. He tips his chin down and the gun throws itself out of the man’s hand, clatters to the ground. “Sleep.”
And that’s really all it takes. The man drops like a brick.
Shadow kneels down and touches his forehead, black fingerprint staying marked on skin for a moment before fading. Then he turns to Mike, face shrouded in black mist. “Don’t worry,” he says. “He’s not dead. Just forgetting.”
And that echo is gone, so Mike can hear his voice—his real voice.
“Will?” he says, hating how his voice trembles.
The shadows drop, abruptly dissipating into the night. Will’s feet come back down that half inch until he’s standing flat on the ground. He looks just like he always does as he takes a hesitant step forward. “Mike.”
Mike hears himself make a strangled noise. “How? When?”
“I don’t know,” Will says softly. “I think… this is something I’ve had for a really long time. But I couldn’t… I didn’t know I could do anything like this until recently. Not even El knows. I didn’t tell her.”
“You didn’t tell her,” Mike repeats. “She called me. Said—”
“I know,” Will interrupts. “I. I can hear the radios and telephones. I heard. I knew you were coming.” He smiles crookedly, apologetically. “I was hoping to get home before you could find me out here and yell at me, but. I got busy.” He sighs. “I didn’t mean for you to see this. I didn’t want you to know.”
“You lied,” Mike snaps. “You lied to me.”
“I’m sorry,” Will says helplessly. “Mike, really. I’m sorry. I just… I had to.” He closes his eyes for a minute, shakes his head. “I had to.”
“Why?” This is unfathomable to Mike. Will is and has always been an open book to him, and it hurts that Will would keep something like this from him.
Will doesn’t answer the question. “I can make you forget, if that’s what you want. I can erase the last hour from your memory. We could just… go back to before.”
“Is that what you want?” Mike asks, too stunned by the suggestion to process the revelation that Will can apparently do that. “You want to shut me out again? Why?”
“Maybe we should finish this conversation at home,” Will answers instead.
“But—” he starts, and then. If there’s one thing Mike knows, it’s not to push Will in a direction he doesn’t want to go. So he stops. “Okay.”
Will steps forward. “Don’t freak out, okay?”
“Wh—”
Will’s hand closes around Mike’s wrist and then they’re home, world dissolving and solidifying around them. He stumbles and Will catches him, pulling him close.
And, wow, they’re very close to each other.
“Whoa,” Mike breathes.
“I’ll be honest,” Will says, voice low, “I’ve never tried that with another person before.”
Mike’s brain isn’t working, so of course his mind jumps to their ongoing, unpleasant conversation. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Will’s grip loosens, eyes darting to the floor, and Mike finds his own balance. “I was scared,” Will says simply. “This… thing I do, the helping people… it can be dangerous. When I saw you were writing the articles, I guess I freaked out even more. I want you to be safe.” He takes a deep breath, and when he lets it out it appears as dark smoke. He frowns, annoyed, and waves it away. “And in the beginning, I didn’t know what was going on, what was wrong with me. I know how you feel about Kali, how… dark her powers can get, and I… I didn’t want you to think that about me; think less of me.” He finally looks back up at Mike, eyes meeting. “I didn’t want you to look at me any differently.”
“I would never,” Mike says earnestly. Because this revelation doesn’t change anything. He’s still Mike and Will is still Will, and they’ve been best friends and they still live together and work well and Mike still loves him.
“You’re already doing it,” Will counters quietly. “You didn’t see your face back in the alley. You don’t see your face right now. You’re looking at me like… like…” He trails off, frustrated. “I don’t know. Like how we all looked at El when she killed Brenner. Like she’d done something good, but also something horribly irreversible.” He sighs harshly, rubbing a hand over his face. “It was stupid of me to suggest wiping your memory. I just… don’t know if I could handle you looking at me, knowing what I can do.”
“Hey.” Mike acts without thinking, stepping forward and taking Will’s face into his hands. “You’re still Will, alright? If I’m looking at you differently it’s because circumstances are different, not you. You’re still you. I could never think less of you. And I forgive you, because I understand.” He takes a breath. “And I love you.”
And. Oh. He hadn’t realized it until he said it. That’s a thing. He’d almost forgotten because… it just hadn’t been an issue. He’s pushed it back for so long. But right now… Will is really close. Really close. In-Mike’s-hands close.
Will’s expression is guarded and cold, like he’s trying to distance himself, but there’s pink present high on his cheeks. “Oh.”
Which isn’t an answer Mike had really expected. “Will,” he says.
“Mike,” he responds.
Mike swallows. Hard. Christ, he’s going to do it. “Tell me if… if I overstep, alright?”
Will nods, and Mike just. Goes for it. He kisses Will, firmly, and yeah, Mike’s in love with him. Shadow powers and nightmares and quietness and all. And Will’s not pulling away, either.
“Are you disappointed?”
Mike frowns. They’re tangled up together on the couch, the TV on with the volume low. “What?”
Will shrugs, shoulder digging into Mike’s side. “The… Shadow. You called him a hero, in your article, and I’m just—I’m not that. Are you disappointed that it’s me?”
“Why would I be?” Mike asks, perplexed. “Will. He’s a hero, and my career kind of rests on him for the moment, but you. You’re incredible. You’ve been a hero for forever. I’m glad it’s you.”
Will shifts a little, leaning up, and Mike can see his grin in the dark. “I love you,” Will says, and Mike feels like his heart is going to combust.
“I love you, too.” Maybe it’s too early to be at the ‘I-love-you’ stage, after not even two hours of feelings being out in the open. Maybe they shouldn’t be as stupidly love-struck as Mike definitely is.
But maybe, Mike thinks as he leans down to kiss Will again, maybe this has been years in the making.
Thanks for reading, everyone! Leave me a comment if you’d like. My other stories are here.

Hey hey, it's gay bike anon again! I'm more than honoured to get my own tag!!! I definitely would like to keep talking to you <3 And only love for you too <3
I'll gladly wait for your response to my ask (or asks??? we'll see one day ehehehe)! I feel you, when people cite some of my text messages from a few months (or more) ago I'm often like "nope, nah-ah, that's not me, you're wrong". Same for older essays, I often can't believe I wrote those. And even with things I wrote late at night a few weeks ago, sometimes I'm like "I wrote that? That monstrosity??? Okay, I need more sleep before writing". (My capacity of writing in correct English grammar usually goes to sleep before I do, same goes for varied word choice). But sometimes I'll see this project I've worked on YEARS ago and exactly recognize the pieces I wrote? Since the ask would be fairly recent, I suppose I would recognise my writing style and word choice and since I didn't wrote it whilst sleep deprived (I hope??) I'm setting my chances of recognising it pretty high. But we'll see one day, the mystery will marinate for a while... [I am rereading this in the daytime, and this is EXACTLY what I meant, at night I make the weirdest word choices?? I’m definitely not changing it though because I might find it kinda funny]
I snorted so hard about the way you talked about your almost-name, I'm giggling here like crazy. Apparently my name means something alike 'dedicated to God', but my parents aren't really believers, so gotta love that. The meaning of my sibling's name is 'summer', but I'm the one born in the summer, whilst my sibling is born in autumn, oops. Guess my parents never checked one of those sites/ books where you can find the meaning of a name hahaha.
I love how my ask was so weird and chaotic that you sent a screenshot to a friend. I LOVE that she had no idea what was going on. Then again, I watched the semis (obviously hahaha) but I had no idea what was going on either... But honestly it was peak Dutch culture, water and bicycles, I would just add an ode to 'hagelslag' and voila, the entirety of Dutch culture summed up... [Also: if you don't know: 'hagelslag' is just sprinkles which we eat on bread, yes, on bread, we do not not only eat sprinkles as on cake or on donuts, like in any other country, no, we put it on bread. It's actually a really popular sandwich topping here. My ultimate favourites are the chocolate ones, but you also have them in several fruity flavours (like forest fruit) and anise flavour.] Thank you, perfect chaotic energy is an ultimate goal I strive towards *bows like I'm Victorian royalty or something*
You're absolutely right, it went EXACTLY like that. Specifically, I would be studying for my exams, explaining topics to myself like I always do, so I'd tell myself "The six possible origins of economies of scope are indivisibility, specialisation, marketing, research and development, GUESS WHAT.. SUBWAY DRIVER GANDÍA... ehhh... what was I doing again??" OR: "one of the most detailed and most used models of responsive regulation is Brathwaite's piramid. His enforcement piramid visually shows, nope not important, SUBWAY DRIVER GANDÍAAAAAA" And I'd laugh, continue explaining theories and calculations to myself until my focus started lessening again and my thoughts would wander off again. I am VERY glad I'm not the only one who thinks about it from time to time, and I'm glad you're not suing me for any mental harm yet.
Yess, those pictures I saw from Promising Young Woman look so beautiful and aesthetic!! I'll probably watch it somewhere after the 16th, because I'll most likely have finished my last exams by then. I'll tell you what I thought about it! Thank you SO SO SO much for all the luck wishes!!!! I had an exam last Friday and I absolutely rewarded myself, because it went better than I expected and I passed an earlier exam and a paper too! I didn't buy myself a tricorne (yet), but I did buy funko pops (my inner economist said it was 100% rational because it was a really good deal hahaha). I still have two exams to go, so I could always buy a tricorne for finishing either of those, OR. EVEN BETTER. I'll ask my parents (or my grandparents) for one for my birthday. I mean, that would be hilarious. They'd be so confused. They've never seen S3 and S4 of LCDP so they'll have no idea, even if I tried to explain it. It would be so incredibly funny (and really really weird for them), I am laughing like crazy just at the thought of it.
I've never been in Finland before, but those temperatures do not sound legal indeed. I have no knowledge of Finnish law, but maybe article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights, the prohibition of torture, would work? If I was the judge I’d 100% agree, so we should all sue the weather sksksks. I'm glad to have brought you rain though (and that I apparently possess the power to do so - magic weather controlling pirate seems like a nice enough job to me)!!! I hope the temperature has become at least somewhat lower. You're right, climate change should just... stop... right away. The weather is pretty weird here, right now: one day it will be super sunny and (at least) around 27 degrees and almost melting away, and the other day it will be raining and I'll be wearing my warmest sweater. Like, why the extremes??
I love that I am able to make you lose your coherent thoughts (that's probably why we have one brain energy about Underwater, because I, too, have the ability to make myself lose my coherent thoughts). I'm glad for your faith in my impersonation of Martín. I even started Duolingo Spanish again, and now know the phrase, "Yo bebo leche" (I drink milk) which obviously would be very important to him. Now I'll just need an Argentinian accent to go with it. Leaning menacingly on a cane would be GREAT, I love the idea. I'll open job applications for a Denver. Maybe my cat could help me, she, much like Denver, is super loud and she is super aggressive towards other cats, so there is potential there. And guiding dogs and even tiny guiding horses exist, why not a guiding cat?
I always assumed I would follow a more... you know… legal... career path, maybe even literally a career in law. But, my accounting professor also showed us how to manipulate financial statements ("so you can notice when people are doing this", uh-huh sure, sure that’s why) and another professor of mine also said that a criminal career sometimes could be the more rational, rewarding choice over a legally acceptable career. So, I suppose I should not be surprised by this sudden change of career plans. I should have seen this coming. And what better way to be able to avoid the laws than by knowing exactly what they are and how far you can go. And if that plan doesn’t work out, the books of law I have (they’re combined in two huge hardcover bundles) are really heavy and you could probably harm someone with them if you hit hard enough… Well, I suppose you can even leave “hard” away, just by hitting someone softly with those books you can bring serious harm to them… Ah, and like that one professor would say: in this scenario it would be a rational choice to become a pirate instead of a privateer. Oh dear, not Arturito :/ Mutiny would seem like a good option, I’ll take over the ship and become Palermo the Pirate. Sounds much and much better than “Arturo the Pirate”, since that isn’t an alliteration, sooo mutiny is reasonable even for that reason. And then there’s the fact that it’s Arturo, I mean, that says enough.
YOU LOVE UNDERWATER TOO????!!!! I completely forgot that you posted that! It seems we do indeed already have one shared braincell energy my friend <3
Last week has been pretty good (except for having to make a test at 9:30, what a godless time, I’m usually barely awake by then ehehehe), I think I aced the test I had, got back some good grades and finally got my first Covid vaccination (and only shortly slight dizziness as a side effect, so that's pretty great). And thanks so much!!! For now I’m safe from Gandía, but somewhere in mid-July I’ll have to take an exam on campus, so I’ll might be able to bring out my inner Palermo then.
How was your week? If the weather is still unkind to you (well, also if the weather *is* kind to you), treat yourself to your favourite ice cream and a break every now and then <3 Do you already have holidays or hasn’t your academical year ended yet?
You’re also right - this is conversation and we’re friends now <3 And I absolutely do like cookies! I would say my favourites are american cookies (though stroopwafels are reaally good as well) but honestly there are only a few kinds of cookies that I don’t love that much. And anything with chocolate in it is GREAT. I do also love apples and bananas, though grapes (which I just had) are even better! What’s your favourite kind of cookie?
Also, I know I have been giving you so many prompts already, but I saw this one in that list you reblogged and it gave me so much Berlermo energy: you live in an apartment with your best friend. the two of you always fall asleep in each other's arms, but one day, your friend isn't there. they've fallen in love with someone else. it's your other best friend, who recently moved in with you. and that's when you realize, that those nights you spent together, weren't so platonic after all. I would love it if you’d write it, but if you decide not to that’s absolutely fine too, no worries <3
By the way, I was going to post this quite a bit earlier, but my laptop (unlike me) decided yesterday night, when I was finishing writing this, that it was time to sleep, so I had to quickly dump this whole rant in Google Docs (it’s almost two and a half pages what the heck) and I was busy all day so I only was able to upload it just now. I swear I can ractually espond faster than after a week :) Have a lovely evening, much love from the gay bike country <3
Heeeeeeey you are back!!! How happy am I to see my favouritest gay bike anon return to my inbox!!! 💕 [Author's note: You can tell I started this reply right away because you've sent me three or four asks since this one and one can tell you are indeed back hahaha]
Yeeeeeees this is how one makes friends!! You know, I was just thinking the other night of how "gay bike anon" shortens to GBA, like the Game Boy Advance, you know. Make of that what you will, but it pleases me to know that you can also have a cute nickname for your cute nickname. Nicknameception.
Yes, exactly that, "I did not write that, and if I did in fact write that.. No I did not." Also, "the mystery will marinate"??? That's an amazing word choice and some day I will absolutely use it for something, just you wait. I think it just goes to show that you should write everything while tired, haha.
Haha I love that naming convention for you. It may make very little sense, but....... but. Also, happy birthday for whenever it is, presumably in the nearby past or future!! Lots of love!! You're the summer child while your sibling is... a summer child, but like, different.
Since you appreciated my almost-name story, I'll reward you with the rest of it: so my name is Tuuli, which is Finnish for "wind". My mum originally wanted to name me Pilvi, which means "cloud". And then she was like oh no this child is not at all serene and cloud-like??? and thus, a new me. I'm glad she had second thoughts, although I wonder if having such an ill-fittingly chill name would've done anything to alter my personality? Nomen est omen and all. There's some kind of an alternate universe where all of that played out, but I'm glad it's not this one.
Yeah either you watched the semis and have no idea, or you didn't watch them and have no idea. There is no way to get what was going on there, I'm certain they themselves also didn't get it. I had no idea about hagelslag but thjipgnhefjpihjo that's amazing, I love that for you!!!! There was absolutely no reason to go there but you as a country just... did that. Amazing. Please have some and report to me so I can live through you. And also, you are absolutely legit Victorian royalty [or something] *bows in return*. Also, I do love how you say "I watched the semis (obviously)." Imagine if you didn't and this entire time I was tragically misinterpreting the nature and intentions of your ask and you were just rolling with it because you've no idea what I'm on about but are also too polite to tell me that. Khhhhhhh
Your brain has priorities!!!! And they're honestly beautiful. Well done, brain. Subway driver Gandíaaaaaaaaaa~~~ My brain is filled with Berlermo quotes that come @ me at random times during the day and leave me just a tad shell-shocked, remembering how it all went down. I'm eating my morning yoghurt and my brain goes yo te propuse fundir oro juntos, and I'm just there like :)))))) Real nice, brain.
Have you had the opportunity to see Promising Young Woman yet? Hhhhh it's so pretty, every time I work on this reply [it's a lot of times, okay, I'm very diligent about this, I stare at this ask and craft snazzy replies in my head all the time, that's why I'm so slow in... actually replying] I'm reminded of that. I'm not a very visual person but the colours and the framing... that was really nice.
I am somewhat glad you've not been to Finland yet, you must hit me up when you come visit, I'll take you for coffee!!! It's actually cooler now (bless!!!!!!!!!!!), the last... four days have been reasonable 14-20 degrees, after four consequtive weeks of 25+. Kkhhhh thinking back to it makes me feel a little ill, but now beret weather is back. I own a lot of berets, dear gay bike anon. I'm going to my university city for the weekend and I'm already wondering which beret(s) I should bring with me. This is an important decision with potential long-lasting consequences. I don't know if you've played any of Telltale's games (The Wolf Among Us and the first two seasons of The Walking Dead are the best ones, fight me), but when you make a decision and the game goes "This character will remember that." and you instantly go oh no what have I done??? That's how I feel about choosing the perfect beret for my city outing. But yes, weather extremes are just the worst. We've been having the longest drought I've ever seen here (it's still not properly rained, for the record, on Tuesday it rained for an hour or so) while in other places there's awful flooding. That's awful.
Ahhh I'm so happy you're continuing your Spanish-learning!! I took a beginner's course at uni in the spring semester, I'm going to take the next one when uni resumes in September. And yes, I'm studying it for LCDP. I mean I love languages in general, but I never had a particular need to study Spanish, until this year I suddenly did. I'm also Duolingo-ing it! Very slowly and steadily. Also, I adore the idea of your cat being your Denver. What's your cat's name??? What do they look like?? Tell me everything, you can't just leave it at my cat, you simply must allow me to meet them. Also, you know why guide cats aren't a thing? Because cats are the worst. I love cats, but you can't just teach them to do useful things. They'll do them if they want to. As I type this, my cat is trying to catch flies at my feet. Her name is Muusa.
I studied accounting for my undergrad!! So I can join you in [[[preventing]]] tax fraud and [[[recognising]]] tampering with financial statements. We can make a totally legitimate business out of it. No but truly, I'm certain we were taught some of those things with the expectation that our future employers would expect it of us. Capitalism is so fun :)))))) And you shouldn't be surprised, academia is but a stepping stone to crime, honestly. Any dark academia book will tell you this. You start out learning Latin and wearing turtlenecks, you end up with murder. That's just how academia works. And you seem to have already chosen your weapon... you're well on your way. :) Palermo the Pirate sounds great!!! I support your mutiny. I don't think I said, but this is my favourite word of the English language. Mutiny. Mutiny????? It doesn't sound very serious. It sounds cute, actually. I love it.
I'm so happy to hear you got your covid vaccine!!!! I had mine a month ago or so - I typed you a reply to the subway Gandía thing on the train ride back, actually. I was really stressed about getting it on my right arm, because I'm left-handed, and last time I got a vaccination (like a decade ago) they insisted on giving it on my left arm and I was sad :( But this time!! I got it on my chosen arm and was very pleased. So anyway, that was a segue. I'm glad you got your covid shot and were side effect -free!!!
My week has been good, thank you!! I went to my uni city for my niece's birthday on Monday, and as said I'm going back on Friday (tomorrow). So this time in between has felt like exactly that, time in between. I started reading Call Me By Your Name. I had my Korean class last night. Now I'm hanging out with my cat (she has stopped chasing flies and climbed to my lap) and talking to you. My holidays started already in May! And uni resumes in the beginning of September, but I'm a tutor for new students so I need to show up three weeks earlier for the orientation weeks. Yes, we do three weeks of orientation (read: three weeks of drinking). It's a bit insane.
Now I need to ask you again how your week has been, since I'm so slow. How has your week been?? Are you free from your exams?? When does your uni resume?
Stroopwafels are so good ahhh I'll have to buy them when and or if I see them. Possibly when I'm in central Europe but haha I can hope to be lucky and see them at a store with imported stuff, you know. My favourite cookies??? Omg maybe these ones - they have this truffle filling, and they're fun to eat (this is important in cookies, you see):
And of course they're Fazer. Because Finnish people have only one setting, apparently. Or maybe that's just me. But all cookies are great, honestly. I like making American cookies, that's always a fun pastime (and you get to have cookie dough, that's like half the fun). I've actually not made them for a lifetime??? Maybe I should, soon. I'll keep you updated. Also, brookies. I love making brookies, they're great.
I really really appreciate being given prompts, I hope you know that!! Thank you!! Consider me pocketing this prompt and maybe eventually some day theoretically getting back to you about it!! You're right - it has Berlermo energy. Insofar as either of them actually have other friends. :)
Thank you for this kind message, dear gay bike anon <3 I'd apologise for my slowness in replying but I think I'd rather you just assume that I'll get back to you, and thank you for your patience <3 Your kind and funny and chaotic asks always brighten my day. I hope you'll have a great rest of the week and just... all the nice and fun and good things and great vibes in life. All the best, dear gay bike anon <3 Take care!! And greetings from Muusa as well - she just yawned and I presume that means "greetings".
#only love for gay bike anon#the timeline became accidentally somewhat restored with this one#I may have intended to reply to medieval snails first - I was writing these two simultaneously even though that makes very little sense#- but I finished this one first#strange!!!!!! but yes all the best to you my friend I hope you'll have a great day and a best rest of this week!!#asks#I'm scrolling to check that the formatting didn't break and the random box of cookies amuses me

200. “Please pretend to be my girlfriend/boyfriend.”
Anon, I am so sorry this took so long. Hope it’s worth it.
hs!au, jock!Cas and nerd!Dean, minor homophobia
Dean’s phone starts to ring halfway through the season premiere of Dr. Sexy, and under normal circumstances, that would be more than enough reason for him to ignore everything to do with his phone until the hour is up. Despite that rule, though, his curiosity is piqued by the fact that someone is calling him, which isn’t something that anyone but his family does.
And then he sees the contact filling his screen, and Dr. Sexy gets paused.
“Hey, uh, what’s up, Cas?” He winces as soon as the words are out—can he really not even keep his cool long enough to answer the damn phone? Sure, he’s already sort of awkward around Cas, and sure, this is the first time his relatively-new-ish friend has called him, but that’s no excuse.
“Dean,” Cas says, and even though he normally manages to make Dean’s name sound intense, there’s a different sort of pressure behind it right now, which is enough to have Dean sitting up straighter on the couch. “I need to ask a favor of you. Are you busy?”
Dean eyes his paused program. “Not really. What’s up? What do you need?”
Cas takes an audible breath in, then says all in a rush, “Please pretend to be my boyfriend.”
There’s a long moment of silence. Dean isn’t sure if the swooping in his stomach is happiness or mortification. This can’t really be happening. Right?
“Cas, I...”
“Please, Dean,” Cas hurriedly interrupts. “I’ll do anything. Whatever it takes. I’ll owe you. I’ll bake you a pie every weekend between now and graduation. Anything.”
“This isn’t, uh.” Dean clears his throat, and nervously adjusts the way his glasses rest on the bridge of his nose. “This isn’t some kind of prank the football team put you up to, is it?”
Because while Dean doesn’t want to believe that that’s the case, he can’t ignore the fact that that’s a possibility. His friendship with Cas is already unusual, and not favorable by most of Cas’ friends—the words ‘jock’ and ‘nerd’ don’t often go together, despite how much Cas clearly doesn’t understand the typical decorum of high school cliques. Cas is on the football team and the soccer team, and plays varsity for both. Dean, by contrast, is the kid who’s friends with half of his teachers and vying for the title of valedictorian.
In short, they don’t mesh. And football players are dicks.
On the other end of the line, Cas is too quiet. Dean only notices it belatedly, and when he does, his stomach sinks. “...Cas?”
He’s listening so intently that he thinks he hears Cas lick his lips. “Dean. Do you really think so little of me?”
Dean flinches. “No, I—I don’t. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it that way. I don’t think you would do that, I’m just—” He inhales shakily. Cas is silent. “Why do you want me to pretend to be your boyfriend?”
Cas’ answering sigh crackles over the speaker. “I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that you’re questioning this,” is the first thing he says. “I shouldn’t make you feel bad about it. Sorry. I’m asking you to do this because I’ve gotten myself into a mess.”
“What kind of mess?”
“The kind where I accidentally came out to half of my relatives.” Cas sounds wry as he says it, and casual, as if the fact that he came out isn’t at all meant to be the point of his statement, as if that part is a given, already established, and it’s most definitely not.
Cas...
Cas is...
Maybe the fact that he’s angling for a fake boyfriend and not a fake girlfriend should have been Dean’s clue.
His friend continues on with his explanation, oblivious to his internal meltdown, “I defended gay rights to my very conservative uncle, and in the course of the ensuing argument, I also implied that I have a boyfriend. Which brings me to my current predicament.”
Dean chokes out, “Implied?”
There’s yet another beat of silence. “Alright, I may have said that I have a boyfriend whom I’m very happy with. And now they want to meet this boyfriend, because they’re confident that I’m lying. Which I am. Because I’m... well.”
“Single.”
“Yes.”
Dean takes a deep breath. He can hardly believe this. He can’t believe what he’s about to do. He turns off the TV, giving up completely on the last of his Dr. Sexy, and says with more confidence than he feels, “Alright. Tell me what you need me to do.”
~
Half an hour later, Dean is pulling his car up along the curb in front of Cas’ house. Cas’ large house, he can’t help but note. With its brick facade and white posts on either side of the entryway, it’s ridiculously cliche, and also incredibly terrifying.
Apparently in addition to missing the fact that Cas is gay, he also completely missed the fact that he’s loaded.
His nervousness doubles in strength.
He sends Cas a text as he makes his way up to the house, and the other boy opens the door before he even has to knock. And god damn, Cas looks good. His hair is as perfectly tousled as ever, but instead of being in form-fitting jeans and a t-shirt or varsity coat like he typically is when he’s at school, he’s in—well, jeans, still, but nicer ones, paired with a button-down shirt that’s just the right shade to make his eyes look so blue there’s no way it’s not illegal.
“Dean,” Cas greets, and he sounds... breathless? His eyes rake over Dean’s form, which prompts Dean to shift his weight nervously. “You look... You look great.”
It’s not true—Dean put on an argyle sweater to meet Cas’ request of dressing nice, and maybe he spent ten of his twenty minutes getting ready on his hair alone, making sure every strand laid correctly, but of the two of them, he’s not the one worthy of ‘great’. Telling himself that, however, doesn’t help to tame his blush as much as he was hoping. He knows that arguing the statement will only draw the conversation out longer, though, so he tugs at his sleeve and accepts it.
“Thanks, Cas. So are we, uh. Are we doing this?”
The reminder of why he’s there visibly dulls Cas’ mood, his shoulders slumping slightly. “Yes, I suppose we are.” He pushes the front door back open where it had drifted shut behind him, and offers a hand out to Dean. Dean hesitates only slightly before he takes it, and once he does, Cas is pulling him across the threshold, and there’s no going back.
Dean toes off his shoes before they get too far from the front door, letting them join a lineup of many others, and then Cas slips an arm around his waist and guides him further in. Dean’s heartbeat is so loud in his ears that he almost misses the soft words Cas whispers into his hairline.
“I’m sorry for this in advance, but don’t forget that I am extremely grateful, and will find some way to make this up to you.”
It sounds ominous, and Dean’s stomach twists even as he mutters in return, “You fucking better.”
They’re stepping into a living room before Cas can say anything more, and a dozen sets of eyes are immediately on them. Most of them look judgmental, some shocked, and one—Cas’ brother Gabriel, of course, the only person here Dean has met before—just looks downright amused. It’s utterly silent in the room, everyone clearly having stopped talking when they saw Dean and Cas, and that makes it awkward as hell. Dean doesn’t know what to do, or say, so he looks to Cas for some indication—
“So, you must be Dean,” someone in the room says, and Dean’s head snaps back around to identify the speaker. The man (older, balding, mildly revolting to look at) has a tight grin on his thin lips, though the expression is really more of a sneer, than anything. It matches the false positivity in his voice disturbingly well. “Castiel here has been telling us a lot about you. The boy who has led my nephew into a life of sin.”
Dean’s stomach plummets, but Cas only heaves a sigh and says, “Zachariah. I’ve already asked you to stop saying that. This is not ‘sin’.”
Zachariah’s lip curls in distaste, and the tension in the room somehow manages to thicken. “We’re each entitled to our own opinions, Castiel.”
Cas’ teeth grind audibly, and Dean shrinks into his side. It only takes a moment for it to pass, though, as Cas quickly takes to ignoring Zachariah so that he may introduce Dean to the members of his family who are present. Three uncles, two aunts, a smattering of cousins, and two of his four siblings—Gabriel and Michael, who is apparently the oldest. Even if most of them are obviously dicks like Zachariah, they all at least have manners, and greet Dean in return cordially enough.
(Interestingly enough, Gabriel turns out to be the weirdest of them all about it, saying after Cas ensures Dean remembers his name, “Oh, this is rich.” Dean frowns, not sure what the hell it’s supposed to mean, but Cas merely kicks his brother in the shin and drags Dean along, depriving him of the opportunity to find out.)
Once Dean has been told everyone’s names—and forgotten probably half of them—he and Cas squish together in the last remaining open seat. It’s halfway between an armchair and a loveseat, and while Dean would normally freak out over that kind of proximity with Cas, he doesn’t have much to lose right now, since they’re already pretending to be boyfriends. And if being pressed against Cas helps to steady his anxiety, too, well. That’s just a bonus.
They’ve hardly settled into the chair by the time Zachariah grows impatient, reclining back in his seat on the couch and eyeing the two teenagers opposite him with a smug grin. “Well, Dean,” he begins, “how long have you and Castiel been... doing whatever it is you’re doing?”
“Uh.” Dean shifts, fully aware of how tense Cas is at his side. The only positive is that not everyone in the room is actively staring at him—the aunts are whispering to each other, Gabriel is texting as quickly as his thumbs will allow, and the cousins (Uriel and Hannah being the only names Dean remembers among them) have clearly lost interest. But even with his audience down to half, it still takes far more courage than he cares to admit to say, “What we’re ‘doing’ is called dating, in case you somehow missed that, or don’t understand the concept.”
Cas sucks in a sharp breath. Gabriel sounds like he nearly chokes in an effort to contain his laughter.
Dean wets his lips. “And to answer your question,” he continues, the hard glint in Zachariah’s eye not enough to deter him now that he’s already going, “we’ve been together for almost six months. Since the beginning of the school year. Neither of us wanted to go to homecoming, so we went to the movies, instead.”
And they had; Cas had been asked to the dance by Meg Masters, but when he discovered that Dean both hadn’t asked or been asked and was going to be alone while all of his friends and classmates were out partying, he ditched Meg (who he admitted to not really wanting to go with, anyway, despite how baffling that notion was to Dean at the time), and insisted on hanging out with Dean instead. That was the start of their true friendship, and when they got milkshakes after their movie, sitting in a dim booth in the back corner of the Roadhouse, Dean had also come to realize just how hard he was falling for Cas.
It’s easy, then, to call that the start of their relationship.
Michael asks, then, only slightly less derisive than Zachariah, “Are your feelings for my brother genuine, or do you simply know that he comes from money?”
Cas makes a sound in the back of his throat like he’s going to interrupt before Dean has to answer, but for whatever reason, Dean doesn’t want that to happen. He agreed to come here and help Cas out of the mess he’s gotten himself into, and it that’s going to happen, then Dean can’t just be silent and let them both be stepped on. And Cas’ family really are dicks; he deserves better than this.
“First off, I didn’t know Cas ‘comes from money’ until today.” Cas winces almost imperceptibly, probably, if Dean had to guess, because that’s something he’s clearly kept a secret. Dean might give him a bit of shit for that later, but for the time being, he doesn’t give a damn, so he ignores his friend’s reaction. “And I don’t care who has money and who doesn’t. That’s not what makes a person. I have plenty of other reasons to love Cas, I don’t need that one.”
There’s a beat of silence, and then Cas says lowly, sounding almost strangled, “Dean.”
Dean glances at him, unsure of how he earned that reaction—but then he realizes what he said, and the color abruptly drains from his face. He feels queasy. “I... I mean...”
There’s an unspoken question in Cas’ eyes, but far more than that, as well, and Dean doesn’t even know where to begin decoding all of it. He can’t tell what Cas is thinking, and not knowing what Cas is thinking right now is utterly terrifying. Gabriel lets out a low whistle, but even that doesn’t break their stare.
And then one of the other uncles, Raphael, breaks the silence. “What do your parents think about this relationship? About your sexuality?”
Dean looks over at the man and balks. He’s lost his momentum. Standing up to Zachariah and Michael was easy, because of nothing else, he could tell himself he was pretending, but now he’s said that word, as both he and Cas are keenly aware “I, uh... I mean, they...”
His blatant hesitation is like blood in the water, and Cas’ family latches onto it with a vengeance. Most of them look amused, like the question may as well have already been answered, and Zachariah sits forward with a sick sort of excitement in his eyes.
“Do they even know that you’re dating Castiel? Or has your guilty conscience insisted on keeping that fact hidden?”
Gabriel makes a derisive sound. “Guilty conscience, Uncle Zach, really, that’s the best you can do? Get off your goddamn high horse—”
“His parents probably don’t even know he’s a queer,” Zachariah adds, ignoring his nephew completely. Between the pressure of his stare, how close to home his question hit, and the fuck-up Dean just had with Cas—Dean needs to regroup. He can’t do this.
He quickly extracts himself from Cas’ side, mumbles an, “Excuse me,” and hurries out of the room and back to the front door. He steps into his shoes and slips outside, pointedly ignoring the outbreak of an argument he can hear in the room he just fled.
Christ, he shouldn’t have come here. He shouldn’t have agreed to this, shouldn’t have gotten himself involved in this charade.
He leans against the railing of the small front porch and tries to focus on his breathing. Despite how much he’s starting to regret his current situation, it’s still not enough to make him ditch Cas. Maybe it should be. He’s already embarrassed himself, and probably made his friend’s situation worse, to boot. Why should he stick around?
He sighs and hangs his head. For Cas.
A few moments later, the front door opens and closes, and although Dean doesn’t look over his shoulder, he knows from the cadence of the footsteps that it’s Cas. Because of course it is.
Cas steps up to the railing beside Dean and mirrors his position, posture slouched and elbows resting on the wood. There’s a stretch of silence, and then Cas says, “I’m sorry for making you go through that. I had hoped that they would let your presence pass without harassment, but in hindsight, that was stupid of me. I should have known.”
Dean shakes his head. He can’t look at Cas, and studiously keeps his eyes trained on his hands. “Why’d you ask me to do this, man?”
He sees Cas shift in the corner of his eye. “I... I don’t know. I panicked, partially. I would probably consider you to be my best friend, and certainly my favorite. You’re the kind of person my parents would like—theoretically, at least. Kind and smart and charming. And I…”
He stalls, prompting Dean to finally look over at him. His heart is beating too loud, he feels too warm, and the things Cas is saying are sounding a lot more genuine than Dean would have ever expected them to. He swallows thickly and prompts, “Cas?”
“I just… I thought…” Cas closes his eyes for a brief moment, steels himself, and then pins Dean in place with an unwavering stare. “I thought it would be most believable if I pretended to date someone who I would be happy to actually date.”
All of the breath leaves Dean’s lungs in a rush. “Oh.”
“Dean, I’m sorry. I know you don’t feel the same about me, and what you said inside was out of context—”
Dean doesn’t need to hear any more than that. Operating on nothing more than instinct and following the spark of euphoria in his chest, Dean grabs Cas by his perfectly-pressed shirt, closes the distance between them, and crushes their lips together. It’s harried and crooked and far from perfect, but Dean couldn’t care less. Especially when Cas makes a choked sound in the back of his throat and starts to reciprocate. One of his hands slides up to cup Dean’s jaw, and then they’re steadier, more centered, and Dean couldn’t imagine it possibly being any better.
He has no idea how long they spend like that, but he doesn’t care, either. He only knows that when they part, his lips are tingling and his lungs are aching, and he’s never been happier in his life.
Cas grins, expression bright with awe and the most genuine excitement Dean has ever seen his friend wear. It has his heart skipping a beat, and the only thing that keeps him from kissing Cas again is the fact that the other boy is speaking.
“Dean,” he says, fingers curling into Dean’s hair, “will you be my boyfriend for real?”
Dean mirrors his expression without hesitation. “Hell yeah.”
Even if dating Cas means more exposure to his family and all the hell that apparently accompanies them, Dean couldn’t care less. It’s worth it. For Cas.

putting all the anons in one post because they are all cool, but i can’t flood my dash with forty asks!!! these are all so amazing omg.
this is weird but my low-key superpower is making random insignificant predictions that come true? like 'leave home early there'll be a traffic jam' and 'you're going to get experiment 9 for your exam' but the predictions are never for me? and only happen when I'm not thinking.
amazing
Regarding the secret super powers!! My brother's godmother can always find a parking space no matter how busy it is. even if people have had to leave the car park and they couldn't find a space, as soon as she pulls into the car park someone will be leaving and pulling out a space so she can park.
car parking space wizard is a legit skill to have
im really really good at fucking things up at one go. flawlessly, incorrigibly fucking things up.
you and me both buddy
Mundane superpowers: I have an uncanny ability to guess the next song on the radio and win trivial luck-based games
i love this
One of my proudest tiny superpowers is , 9 times out of 10, I can guess the time within a 5 minute window. Even waking up from a nap or just waking up, no alarm, I can do it. I will admit, the time changes and the changing day light can trip me up a bit for a week or two, but then I adjust and it’s just as accurate as ever.
i also have this skill and it’s my fave
If you’re still doing tiny super powers, I’ve always been really good at singing along to songs I don’t know very well. My mom asked me about it once and all I could say was “I just sing what rhymes and makes the most sense.” Also, while entirely useless, on almost multiple daily occurrences the song that is about to come on, 1 or sometimes 2 songs down the line, pops right into my head. Even on the radio, I’ll have a song in my head and turn on the car to find it just starting.
the best ones are generally useless though? so many to do with music!
Little super powers- I can get any baby to fall asleep within 10 minutes no matter how cranky/ over tired/ sick that child is. I think I must have a very soothing rocking/ bouncy walk. Also, I'm weirdly good at standardized test. I can usually just tell which answers are wrong. This was great in high school and significantly less useful in grad school.
i do not have the skill to soothe babies and i envy yours
I’m convinced I have some sort of timing superpower. I get into/become aware of media things just in time. Decide to watch a cult classic 80s movie and get into it a week before the announcement that it’s getting a broadway adaptation. Decide to check twitter again after forever just in time to load the page and literally watch Ed Sheeran come back from his isolation to announce the new album. Check out and get into an old band I’ve vaguely heard of...days before the reunion tour announcement.
lmao that’s cool
You know the voice in that back of your head that goes “haha what if this mildly bad thing happened”? Mine just seems to be right too often + in the weirdest situations. Example- I was going to a game at school and had a fleeting thought “maybe i should change. Wouldn’t it be funny if I wore the outfit I happened to be wearing all day and that ended up being the color of the other team. Lol that would be funny.” And then of course that is in fact what happens. Coincidence? Ya probably but idk
it sounds like you have great intuition tbh
My lttle superpower is somehow having just enough obscure knowledge for whatever ridiculous situation my friends and I get in.
you are the Most Valuable Friend
oh, also, i am really good at drawing straight lines. like i never use a ruler to draw straight lines because they always turn out super straight. i'm weirdly good at drawing perfect circles and triangles, too, which really came in handy once i started taking geometry! :D
GEOMETRY WIZARD
if i hear any piece of music/melody, i'll never forget it. when i watch tv with my family and i recognize a piece of obscure soundtrack/background music, i'll immediately recognize it, hum along, and identify where it's from. family members won't believe me until i find the original music on youtube and play it to them. i never forget.
i love that so many of these are musically minded!!
my superpower is, i can hold my breath underwater up to like four mins on average, five is my record. :D
holy shit
my superpower is getting those around me to smile and feel happy. i am the person that is called and texted when things are sad because i am, as one friend put it, "sunshine funneled into a person"
My lowkey superpower is oven timing. A solid 90% of the time, if I am cooking something in the oven, I will get the urge to walk to the kitchen and see if it's done, and it's usually within 15 seconds of being correct, sometimes around 45. However, I feel it's pretty useless because that's the exact function of the oven timer itself :c
PLEASE COME BAKE COOKIES @ MY HOUSE
My lowkey super power: Stealth. I have unintentionally scared a lot of people, some of them multiple times because I just don’t make much noise when I walk and then I’ll just be in the same vicinity as them and I’ll say something and they just jump out of their skin. I’ve taken to knocking on walls as if they’re doors when I enter a room. Or sometimes I’ll intentionally stomp as I approach so I don’t have to deal with shrieks of surprise.
i love that you have to KNOCK ON WALLS to announce that you’re there
dk if it counts but I'm really good at reading and listening to music at the same time and then hearing a unique word as I'm reading it (instead of just like "a" or "the")
i’m not sure i follow? like a unique word from the book is in the song?
My superpowers are that I have a horrible memory generally but have an uncanny memory for fun facts I always have one handy for pretty much any situation, and I dream about places I've never been to before then forget the dream soon after I wake up and then go to the place years later and have a flashback to the whole dream
i have had dreams about places so specific and familiar that i 100% feel like i’ve either been to before or i will eventually visit

Secret Abilities
an: Here you go anon-- I hope you enjoy :)
“Hey Doctor Banner”
The white lab coated figure of the scientist straightened from the beakers he’d been hunched over in examination as the door closed behind Peter.
“Hi Peter.” Bruce shot him a smile “How was school today?”
“Fine.” The teenager said shrugging as he made his way over to a counter filled with whirring machines--- all calculating, analyzing, recoding--- and who knew what else. Peter continued to answer as he slowly walked along, studying each one “It was pretty boring to be honest.” Bruce chuckled as he bent over the beakers again “I know the feeling. Just wait a few more years till college---that’ll be a lot more fun, I promise.”
“I hope so.” Peter laughed.
Opening his mouth to ask something else Peter was turning to face Banner but paused when he noticed The row of computers showing security camera footage. Curious, he froze and watched for a minute till someone in particular, a familiar figure, caught his eye and made him speak up. “Isn’t that Mr. Stark’s daughter.”
Interested now Bruce stepped away from his experiment and walked over to stand by Peter. After a glance at the screen Peter indicated the scientist nodded “Yeah.”
Peter had never met you, but being the Daughter of the famous Tony Stark He’d heard a lot about you and seen you on the news. Not to mention the many photos of you both online and in magazines, like the kind his Aunt May got. Naturally you didn’t go to the same school as him and despite his frequent visits to avenger’s compound ever since he found out about it (and he came nearly everyday) He’d never seen you there or run into you.
Peter was disappointed about that. He’d had a fascination with Ironman, which naturally extended to the superhero’s daughter and so Peter had developed a kind of celebrity crush on you—something that would be incredible if it ever happened but was unlikely ever to be considering the chances of meeting the celebrity were near 0, and they had been until recently.
Once he’d found out about the avengers compound his hopes of meeting you rose, and that chance was partly what made him rush to the building as soon as school was out. It seemed like Peter’s luck was going to change
“What’s she doing here?” Bruce wondered aloud breaking Peter out of his train of thought
“What? Is she not supposed to be here?”
“No, She’s usually in school now.”
From there they both watched in silence as you made your way around outside of the building. They tracked your progress as you reached the back and took a little dirt road---- right to the moment you disappeared from the camera’s field of view.
Only then did Peter speak “What’s back there?”
“Nothing, just a storage shed and some woods. Tony never thought to put any cameras back there--- it didn’t seem important to guard since there wasn’t anything there.”
“Then why is she going back there?”
It was a second before Bruce responded “I don’t know. . . but it’s probably nothing.”
“Yeah.” Peter agreed--- although he didn’t really believe that and based on the quick backward glance Dr. Banner sent at the computer screen he didn’t either.
From then on Peter paid more attention to the video footage every time he visited Dr. Banner’s lab---- and he discovered that you came there just as often as he did. Once he pointed it out to Banner and mentioned that you always went in the same direction—out of the camera’s view and toward the woods, almost never into the building itself they both agreed that something had to be done to find out where you were going and what you were doing.
Neither of them dared to tell your dad just yet though so they came up with a solution.
It was Bruce who brought up the subject of more cameras to Tony.
“You want more security cameras?” Tony deadpanned “I’ve got every inch of that compound under surveillance.”
“Not towards the back-- there’s that whole section of woods we can’t see. Anybody could stroll in from that direction and we wouldn’t know till they were knocking on our front door.”
“Ok, I’ll think about it.” Tony answered, patting Bruce on the shoulder before he walked off.
Tony took his sweet time thinking about it and when four weeks had gone by and nothing happened the two figured the answer was no and decided to take matters into their own hands.
That weekend Peter was at the compound even earlier than usual, and after a quick stop at the lab he got into position, placing himself in the dense foliage of the trees by the side of the road.
After that it was a long hour of waiting, his only visitor’s birds and the occasional startled squirrel.
Finally, the com he’d picked up from Bruce crackled to life and Banner said “She’s on her way.”
“Is she at the side of the building yet?”
Almost—ok, now she’s at the back and headed your way.”
“Got it.”
Peter kept his eyes fixed on the road so it was a surprise when he saw the figure pass by below him. Not hesitating a second he set out a web and was on the move after her, swinging and jumping from tree to tree—careful to stay back but keep her in sight.
He was on edge and all his senses were on high alert by the time she stopped in the middle of a clearing and sat down. Peter, perched in a tree and watching closely was prepared for a lot of things, but not for the pack of five wolves that appeared out of the brush two minutes later.
His blood ran cold and he was bout to swing to your rescue when in his fear induced haze he noticed you were completely calm, still in the middle of the open space. Peter relaxed a bit when he saw that and hesitated, to see what would happen.
What happened was the wolves slowly coming closer and closer until they stopped a foot away from you, forming a small ring around your figure.
Suddenly one padded forward, breaking away from the others.
Peter tensed again till he saw you hold your hand out and the wolf lick it like it was as tame as a puppy. A minute later and all the wolves were huddled around you, licking you, circling and yapping at you in a tone that couldn’t be mistaken for anything other then happy and playful.
The weirdest part was that you seemed to understand the yapping.
From his position in the tree Peter could just hear you as the wolf you were petting let out a yip and you said “Really? again? What he do this time?” He almost laughed as both you and the wolf sent a dirty look at one of the other grey forms --- and did It actually look guilty? No--- it had to be his imagination.
Everything stopped when the lead wolf suddenly tensed and let out a warning bark then a long low growl.
You weren’t fased though.
“Yeah, I know about him. The birds were screeching about a stranger as soon as I got here. You don’t have to worry, I’ll deal with him-- he’s not going to hurt you or your pack anyway, right.” The last word was shouted as you turned to look directly at Peter “You may as well come out, I know you’ve been there the whole time.”
Figuring there wasn’t any use in hiding, Peter dropped out of his tree.
As soon as he appeared all the wolves were on their feet, growling at him with teeth bared as they formed a line between him and you. Before they did anything, you spoke up—clearly talking to the wolves when you said “It’s ok. He’s not going to hurt me. You can leave—but if it makes you feel any better you can stay close in case I need you.”
Slowly and reluctantly the wolves left, each of them stopping and looking back at least twice as they left.
Once they were gone you turned to him “Peter huh, you must be that new recruit my dad told me about.”
“How do you---.”
“Animals have very good ears and are very chatty, especially birds.”
“And you can talk to them—understand them?”
“Yeah, and before you ask I’ve been able to do this forever.”
“Does your dad know know?” Peter asked surprised
“Oh he knows alight” You chuckled “My dad got me this puppy and I used to make it bring me things all the time when I was too lazy to go get them myself. Dad was suspicious but about that but just figured it was a really smart dog until I accidentally made these birds dive bomb him one time when I was mad.”
“And no one else knows about this?” he questioned
“No. I’ve learned to control it, to hide it and dad wanted it a secret—for my own good, so no one but us three knows now.”
“Not even the other avengers?”
“No, and I’d appreciate it of you didn’t say anything. Dad’s waiting for the right moment to tell them—and the world, when I become an avenger too.”
“No—of course. I won’t tell anyone.” Peter assured you
There was a moment of quit before he spoke up again “Can I ask you something--- why do you come here?”
“Cause it’s the one place that no one will think twice if I go, so. It’s safe and I can be myself—plus I love listening to all the animals, hearing their stories and playing with them.”
“That does sound pretty cool.” Peter agreed
“Thanks.” You said smiling “Anyway I should get back. Walk with me?”
“Definitely.”
“So tell me about those wolves—how did you find them?” Peter asked falling into step beside you.
As you told him the story, eyes bright and face shining he had to hold back the goofy smile threatening to escape--- and as corny and cliché as it sounded Peter couldn’t help thinking that this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
