although batman was known as the superhero to actually not be super, you felt your husband did have a superpower of his own; being able to run on fifteen minutes of sleep, if that.

so it was a surprise to you that, when bruce returned from work at the office, after a long night of patrolling the dingy streets of gotham, the toll of lack of sleep was taking over. neatly-gelled hair sticking out in places, thin skin beneath his eyes dark, his inability to smile at you as he pushed through the door to your shared bedroom.

you'd already gotten in bed, teeth brushed, face washed, tucked up in the sheets, when he finally came home. the pages of a book were open in your lap, room illuminated by the amber gleam of your bedside lamp.

"hey," you smiled up at him, tearing your eyes away from the print, only to find him walk straight through thr door into the adjacent en suite.

must've been a tough day; and you were back to your reading.

from the bathroom, you could hear the flush of the toilet, the rinse of the taps, the scrubbing of teeth, a few coughs here and there: the sounds of your husband washing away his day, preparing to settle in bed beside you.

when the door finally opened, and you glanced up, bruce's tie was undone and hanging beneath his upturned collar, the buttons down his shirt had been let loose and his toned torso was left on display, and his grey blazer was hanging from two fingers, the sleeves just barely dragging along the floor.

he seemed slightly worse for wear, but with the kids on patrol tonight, hopefully that would change by the morning.

obviously, it had not been easy convincing bruce to stay home tonight, but everyone agreed he should take it easy for one night, at the very least. his dedication to this city was admirable — one of the very reasons you had married him — but even the heroes need to save themselves sometimes.

"you okay, honey?" you piped up, slightly worried by his appearance now, and lack of communication since he'd returned home. eyes remaining on him as he pulled open the ornate wardrobe on his side of the bed, you folded a cat ear on your page and carefully closed it on the front cover.

only a couple beats passed before bruce blearily swirled around, the smile at the corner of his mouth not quite reaching his eyes as he tugged the snake of a necktie from his collar. "just exhausted like you wouldn't believe," he managed to chuckle, turning back around to the wardrobe to remove and hang his white shirt.

"i think i could believe." placing your closed book on your side table, you shifted under the sheets to face bruce as he swapped out his slacks for the pair of linen trousers he wore to sleep. "i didn't get to see you at all today. you weren't here when i went to sleep last night, and you were gone by the time i woke up."

it was difficult to not sound upset, which bruce noted as he peeled back the made covers on his side of the bed and slipped in beside you.

as soon as his aching body hit the memory foam mattress you shared, it was like the shadow of sleep took over, the way he sighed graciously and closed his eyes; but he was determined to stay awake, to talk with you, the one he had married.

marriages don't succeed if each night and morning is the same — a cold bed to fall asleep to, a cold bed to wake up to.

one of your husband's muscular arms pulled you in close, so his head was tucked below your chin. the musky scent of his hair wax filled your nostrils, an indication that, along with the stony form of it, he had failed to wash out his hair.

"how was your day?" the movement of his lips brushed against your chest, and the shiver that ran down your body only caused him to hold you closer, a second arm miraculously squirming beneath you. his voice was low, half-muffled by the fabric of your sleep top, half-muffled by the sleep threatening to take over.

the hum of a laugh brushed past your lips, and your fingertips came up to brush along the nape of bruce's neck, the spike of his coming-in hair after his most recent haircut prickling against your skin.

"probably not even half as bad as yours," you chuckled in response, fingers grazing higher, breaking through that cast of waxed-down hair. at your touch, your husband sighed against you once more, nuzzling in closer; as if close wasn't close enough.

you allowed a few beats to pass before continuing. "work went smoothly today, nothing too horrible. how about—"

the tickle of a stubble on its first legs brushed against the soft skin of your collarbone as bruce's lips, smooth after brushing his teeth, pressed a kiss against the base of your neck.

"how about yours?" you managed to ask after a beat, unconsciously tilting your neck. "and your night — i haven't seen you since you got home yesterday."

vibrating against your pulse, bruce's reply was gravelly, almost incoherent. "long, tired," you think he said. "want to sleep, but i missed you."

you're sure he fell into slumber after that, with the way his soft breaths against your neck fell into rhythm, and the way his lips fell slack, no longer concerned with kissing or speaking.

“Are we almost there yet? I think my knees are-”

Soobin’s words get cut off for a second as another sunflower stem smacks him in the face gently, making both you and his figures stop momentarily. You stifled a laugh as you could feel his cheeks get pulled in from him blankly blinking into your cupped hands that were over his eyes, with his dimple slightly poking out. 

“Sorry Soob.” You grinned before he proceeded to walk once again. 

Today had been one of the few days off that you both had that aligned with the other, and you made it a mission for it to be the best one yet. So with that in mind, you had to make sure that you planned the best date for the day and after getting in touch with a few extended family members and their friends, you knew what had to be done. 

But you didn’t want to let him know what it was since it was a surprise, which was why you had been covering his eyes for the past five minutes. His tall, lanky figure had been crouched down a bit so that you wouldn’t have to reach so far up to do so, but that required him to shift a good majority of his weight down to his knees where he was practically waddling. 

“Babe, I-”

He gets hit with a fully bloomed sunflower this time, and you couldn’t stop the laughter that escaped your lips as you let go of his face. Warm yellow sunlight was slowly filling his eyesight as he looked down to see that you were crouched to the ground trying to catch your breath from laughing so hard. 

“Haha, you did that on purpose-”

Another wack. 

“See that one was on purpose.” You giggled as your hand had let go of one of the taller sunflower stalks that was closer to his face. 

It was almost as if you had been able to read his mind that you started sprinting in the direction towards the part of the sunflower field that was more open. Maybe it was the sound of your laughter in the wind that was blowing into Soobin’s hair and ears, but he thought that life couldn’t get more simple than just this. 

“Gotcha!”

He playfully tackles you successfully into the picnic blanket that you had set up hours ago, and for a moment, he doesn’t realize that things were set up until he blinks for a moment. His eyes had been pouring into yours, but that doesn’t cover up the little picnic that you had set up for him as he looked around to see that there was an assortment of different treats and snacks involving what all looked like. 

“Welcome to my granduncle’s mini strawberry farm!” You grinned as you sat up from where you had been previously pinned down by Soobin, being able to escape his embrace when you noticed that he was distracted by your setup. 

“Do you like it, honey?” 

Strawberry cream sandwiches, chocolate covered strawberries, fresh strawberry milkshakes with whipped cream… even a mini strawberry cake. In a field that was filled with sunflowers, and from a distance away now that he notices a strawberry patch, he grins to himself while wondering in what past life did he save someone so important that he deserved all of this. 

Probably you, he thinks to himself as he takes his hands to cup your cheeks to pepper kisses all over your face, making you squeal from the ticklish action and push him away. 

“You didn’t have to do all of this though, when we’ve both been so busy.” He says, before you hold up the glass of milkshake up for you both to share out of two straws. 

“I wanted to do something special for you though, Soobin. Here me out,” You say while sitting on your knees and he nods in response as he settles himself onto his side with an arm holding up his head to look at you properly. 

“When we first met maybe 3 years ago, I didn’t think that you’d like me back given our circumstances…” 

“I really thought that you were in love with Yeonjun!” He pouts in protest, but you hold up a hand to cover his mouth and giggle in response as you continue on with your little speech.

“He’s literally like another brother to me. However, before you I never knew someone that could be so kind… and considerate and so passionate when it comes to loving and taking care of a person that wasn’t themselves. I think you bring out the best of me, Soobin, more than I realize it myself, and I’m so appreciative of you all the time. We’ve both worked so much these last few days, and you always put me before yourself, which is why this picnic was me giving back those moments you’ve done that and put you before myself this time. You’ll always be the one for me.” You say all in one big deep breath, feeling tears pooling at the corners of your eyes but you couldn’t help it. 

Thinking about the overwhelming feeling of love from the person in front of you all the time made you so happy all the time, and there was never a time that you didn’t want to come home to just him. He was your steady rock that you could just sit there in peace with, and you wouldn’t want to have it any other way. 

“Baby…” The sound of Soobin’s voice brought you back as you noticed that he was also tearing up from your mini speech dedicated to him. 

There’s a small chuckle that escapes from both of you as he reaches up to wipe your cheek, but you could tell that he was on the same side when it comes to pretty much almost crying. The two of you held so much love and care for the other where it overwhelmed all of your emotions, but here you were in the middle of what felt like a simple moment that was welded for the two of you; just like glue. 

“I love you, Y/N. You’re my home that I love coming to at the end of the day.” He says and places a small kiss against your lips, making you smile into it for a few seconds before you pull away to look at him with nothing but love for the boy that you wanted to hold onto forever. 

Forever sounded nice, in a field full of strawberries and sunflowers. 

“I love you too, Soob. Now let’s eat this before the sun sets and it gets too dark for us to see, but first let me check to make sure those stems and flowers didn’t hurt your pretty face too much.” You say as he laughs at the memory of him being wacked in the face by those sunflower stems early while you climbed onto his lap to make sure that there was nothing on his face jokingly. 

Yet there was obviously nothing but the love of your life hidden behind those pretty eyes that you stared into every morning and night, and that was all that mattered to you at the end of the day. 

Even if you did purposely hit him with a sunflower.

WHO?

Ok so pretty much, after not posting for idk how long I have an idea but don't know who to write it for..

A run down of the idea is you, the reader, are in a bar or something and are a singer. So some dude walks in this one time your singing and you're like 'oh my gosh their so cute/fine/wtv' but they leave before your show ends so you don't get to talk to them. This keeps happening until you sing a song dedicated to them... 'Lovers Rock' by TV Girl or 'the perfect pair' by beabadoobee. (UP TO VOTE)

HERE is my Masterlist but I'll write this idea for anyone really... I'll also be giving credit to the person I took the recommendation from.

A summer trip they think of fondly: Delfina’s family haven’t really gone on a lot of trips, mostly staying in the encanto year-round, but there was one summer when she was eleven that Isabela and her wife took a trip to Charmington and decided to take all the Madrigal children with them. They stayed by the shore for two whole weeks, and little Delfina, who had never seen the ocean before, discovered her love of swimming and had the one of the best times of her life.

Their favorite Disney princess: She’s always admired Queen Belle and her kindness, intelligence, and dedication to her family and subjects.

The first song they would dance to with their partner at their wedding: She and Lonnie would likely dance to “Dance With Me” by beabadoobee.

If they have tattoos or piercings: In addition to her regular ear piercings, she does have two small tattoos, a candle and a butterfly, on her right shoulder as a tribute to her family’s history, and she wants to get more of both in the future.

The scariest moment in their life: When Chad suddenly roped her into his tirade against the VKs at Family Day, ridiculing her use of magic with her gift and accusing her of conspiring with the VKs against Auradon. Standing there with everybody at the event staring at her and not knowing whether they would believe Chad and come after her or not, Delfina hadn’t trusted these people not to side with a respected prince over a magic-using commoner, and she had never been more terrified in her life.

If they would break the law: It certainly wouldn’t be her first instinct, but she could likely be persuaded to perform some light theft or breaking and entering if it was someone she trusted getting her to do it.

Their favorite reality show (because everyone secretly has one): She actually doesn’t have one, for the sole reason that she doesn’t watch a lot of TV; there aren’t a lot in the encanto, despite Mirabel’s attempts to modernize it, and she never really got into it even after coming to Auradon Prep.

If they have a favorite chore: She really loves sweeping! It’s the chore she did the most growing up, and she finds it calming.

If they like being in pictures and what faces they make in them: She absolutely loves being in pictures, and in any ones she’s in you will catch her with a bright smile on her face and usually making peace signs or bunny ears on whoever she’s standing with.

If they get along with kids: Having grown up with four younger siblings and a whole gaggle of cousins, Delfina absolutely gets along with kids, and is amazing at taking care of them too.

“I can't fix you. You know that.” Your voice was a haunting stillness, like the hushed waves of an ocean on a moonless night.

“I know.” Ruki stood opposite of you in the mansion’s entryway. Shoulders held high, chest puffed out in defiance, yet there was an undeniable tension in the way his chest heaved, as if struggling to contain a storm brewing deep within, whether he was conscious of it or not.

Your luggage stood tall, an organized clutter, pointing towards the door, as if imbued with prescience, a silent clairvoyant foretelling the inevitable outcome.

“You keep expecting me to magically make all your problems disappear. We both know that that's not possible.”

“I know.” His voice escaped in a mere whisper, strangled by the tautness of his jaw and the tension in his speech.

The intensity in his gaze was so overwhelming, you couldn't bear to meet it, and so you averted your eyes. Whether it was cowardice or self-preservation, you couldn't say for sure. “There’s honestly no point in us. You’re dedicated to your obligations, and from how I see it, I’m not one of them.”

“You don’t know-“ The rawness of his words hung heavily in the atmosphere, but before he could finish his first sentence, you interrupted him. Your interruption was like a thunderbolt, crashing through the charged atmosphere and silencing him in an instant.

“Ruki, it doesn’t matter what I do or do not know. That’s how you make me feel. If the Adam and Eve plan is that important to you, more important than me, than us, then please, don’t let me hold you down.” The air was thick with tension as you tried to express your feelings. Every word felt like a burden, each emotion draining your energy until you were left feeling hollow. The weight of your thoughts hung heavy in the air, suffocating you as you struggled to continue.

You didn't want to pour your heart out, not anymore. It felt pointless and exhausting. You had made your points, and now it was up to Ruki to understand. If he didn't have the emotional capacity to comprehend your feelings, then he was no longer your problem to deal with.

“…” Ruki stood silent and watched as you slowly made your way towards the front door. His eyes, filled with pools of regret, were fixated on you, desperate to hold onto every fleeting moment. Though his cold heart was screaming for you to stay, his body remained rooted in place, an unwilling accomplice to his own pride.

“You clearly made your decision already. So, let me be the one who walks out first,” You opened the door and left without speaking another word. You knew that your decision was the right one, but as you looked back at the mansion, you couldn't help but wonder why it took so long to find the courage to make it. The realization hit you like a bolt of lightning - the only thing you left behind was the ghost of your own regret, haunting the empty halls of a mansion that could have been a home.

Ruki’s eyes lingered over your silhouette as you disappeared into the darkness and stars of the night, a haunting image etched in his mind. It greatly pained him - torn between the reason he continues to live on and the reason he lives. A heartbreaking dilemma, tearing at his soul.

He felt the shackles of his obligations chain him like a rabid dog, trapping him in a life that he couldn't escape. With each passing minute, your presence faded in the manor, leaving him with a hollow ache that refused to subside. The weight of his decision bore down on him, a crushing burden that threatened to suffocate him.

With that realization hitting him hard, he ran out and searched for traces of you; in the trees, in the wind, in the lights, anywhere. His heart pounding with desperation, he called out your name into the night, hoping against hope that you would hear him and return to him.

Yet, nothing. All he found was nothing. And when he came back to the manor, all he was left with was the emptiness of the once-familiar halls.

As the years passed, Ruki's emptiness only grew. He tried to fill the void with the endless parade of victims and brides, but none of them could compare to you. His brothers noticed the change in him, but were at a loss on how to help. They watched as Ruki went through the motions of life, but his soul remained trapped in the past.

The thought of being so unlovable haunted him day and night. The thought of being unlovable consumed him, leaving him with a sense of worthlessness that weighed heavily on his heart.

Every night, he would lie in bed and replay every moment he spent with you, searching for ‘what-ifs’ and ‘what-could’ve-beens’. He was more or no less imprisoned inside his own mind, a prisoner of of thoughts and daydreams.

And so, he was left with this nagging feeling of inadequacy, a constant reminder that he was somehow deficient in the eyes of the person he loved. It was a thought that tormented him day and night, a heavy burden that he carried with him wherever he went.

The pain of love can be a heavy burden to bear, and for Ruki it had become his entire existence. The once proud and powerful man was now a mere shell of his former self, lost in a sea of regret and longing.
