Your redesign for Akane (Especially her Despair design) is probably the tamest of all the Akane redesigns I've ever seen, and I say that bc like, the 90% of Despair!Akane redesigns I've seen not only take away her apron, choker and headdress, they completely destroy her uniform.
Like, with the absolutely long skirts those redesigns give her, I can understand her breaking a side of it to have better maneuvering (So she can do all those jumps and flips in Chapter 6), but a lot of them just break her uniform so much that it looks like she went through Kirumi's execution and lived.
I...did not expect to learn that these kinds of redesigns for Akane exists. Like, ripping a part of the skirt for better maneuvering, especially if it's a very long one, makes a little bit of sense considering the amount of jumps and flips she does in Chapter 6. But destroying her uniform to the point that she ends up revealing so much skin just like in Kirumi's execution??? That's actually kinda...disturbing to me. Because the DRA cast/79th class is (most likely) younger than the cast from the first canon Danganronpa game, and since it's implied that not a lot of time passed before the Tragedy struck and they got wrapped up in their own killing game, they'd still be fairly young. Which means that they're most likely minors.
It's not as if you can't do fan-service in a character design, especially if it fits their character and personality. It's just that there are some things you really need to consider before actually going through with that type of design, like, say, how old a character is. At the very least, if the teenage character is flirtatious or is confident in their body, tone it down so that the design is believable without making them look like they're dressed like this for the audience (and maybe even the creator) to gawk at like they're candy. It's just...gross, man.

i mightve asked this before, in which case go ahead and ignore this lmao. which characters would be the best vs worst when handling an autistic darling?
Oooh, this is a cool question! I would say it depends on the particular symptoms the person has, so I'll go over some symptoms and which yanderes would respond best vs. worst.
avoidance of eye-contact
Obviously, shy, autistic, or autistic-coded yanderes would work really well with this (and other) symptom(s). Your Donatello's, your Newt's, arguably your Peter Parker's. Also, yanderes who are able to sense when their darling's attention is on them supernaturally or just out of sheer social aplomb. Elves, for example, would be great with someone who doesn't like eye contact, because their body language conventions differ as a result of being able to communicate mentally.
Roxanne Wolf would be distinctly bad for this, based on her need for attention as demonstrated in Help Wanted 2. But she's also not beyond reason when it matters, as we've seen in Ruin DLC, so I'm sure communicating about it is on the table.
sensory reactivity
Okay, I think Dr. Strange would very specifically be bad for this, because his movies are all swirling kaleidoscopes of magic that would definitely be sensory overload in real life, and I have mentioned before that I don't see him as a considerate yandere. If anything, he might enjoy inducing sensory overload for the express purposes of making his darling require comfort, care, and isolation from others.
On the other hand, and maybe a weird pull for this, but Zafrina from Twilight would be great. Alec, too. Both have powers that would be super helpful when darling is overwhelmed.
Druig is able to just make everyone nearby shut up, which he would employ liberally.
food sensitivity/pickiness
Yanderes who enjoy cooking could go both ways on this. I could see some being offended by negative feedback and some taking it as being gifted with the challenge of meeting their darling's standards. Teruteru from Danganronpa and Esme from Twilight would both probably be good about receiving feedback and making changes. Super eager to please. Esme more so than Teruteru; he might get offended at first.
Rich and royal yanderes would delight in someone picky. They would love to be able to send food back with new, highly specific orders because darling doesn't like grapes with soft spots. Your Tony Stark's, your Byakuya Togami's, your Toph Beifong's, your Coriolanus Snow's.
Ralph from DBH would be a problem. He has a very weak grasp on what humans eat and a very high sensitivity to negative feedback. (Wait, he's just like me...)
resistance to changes in routine
This one would be a problem for yanderes who feel a need to go on adventures and trips with their darling. Which isn't necessarily the same as adventurous yanderes. Some adventurous yanderes might enjoy the idea of their darling staying behind at home keeping to a comfortable routine. But the ones who want their darling along on the adventure would be problematic. The Doctor, for example. Especially Eleven; he gets bored easily.
Whereas I think a lot of superheroes would like the idea of keeping their darling sequestered away, living predictably and comfortably. Clark Kent, Steve Rogers, Druig...The only catch is that some of them (Druig) would probably be a bit condescending about it.
I think Daycare Attendant would be great for routine. Coloring time, snack time, naptime, same time every day, sign them up! Also condescending, but they genuinely can't help it because it's how they're programmed.
Technically, Phineas and Ferb keep to a very specific routine, albeit a pretty tiring/potentially overwhelming one.
sorting things
This would be great for the disorganized genius character type. A Bruce Banner, if you will. An organized genius probably already has a system and might have trouble with someone sorting things differently than they have them. A distinctly slovenly character probably wouldn't mind either way.
hyperfixation
Yo, Queen from Deltarune would be the best for this. She would create an inescapable palace of the thing darling likes. Swatch and the Swatchlings would be involved.
stimming
There might be a problem if the yandere is easily distracted and needs to focus on something else. The main one I can think of who fits that description is Percy Jackson. That's not a distaste thing; just a pragmatic issue. Yanderes who experience sensory overload might also have an issue with it. My first thought was Queen Elsa.
On the other hand, Leo Valdez would love to make little stim toys for his darling. Donatello, too.

Going on anon to say this particularly: Why the hell do some of the anons that go to your account seem to like scrutinize everything you repost and the people you follow if it isn't related to the stuff you already do (and sometimes already do since I recall an incident like this with Danganronpa)? I mean last post is evident with the Futurama (I probably spelled that wrong but I also don't care right now) but then there was also the person with the interest in South Park, and while I don't know enough about either series to have a proper stance but Futurama doesn't seem all that bad while South Park is definitely South Park I know enough to know how that is.
Either way point being is why even care so much about stuff like that it's like they think you owe them an answer for the possibility of being interested in something. (South Park I understand just to clarify but it's still how people are wording such things is my problem with it.)
YEAH LIKE. I hope you guys know that im fully capable of making smart decisions about my friends and what they like. Some of yall sound like this

Hihi Nyx!! ^^ As i said i wanted to req for dgr (i think that is danganronpa but if isn't just ignore that lol) :P
Can i request for Kyoko, Kokichi, Korekiyo, Byakuya, Celeste and Nagito with a male s/o that acts like a watchdog around them?
Like, the others are scared of him because of his explosive temper and rude/egocentric attitude but with their s/o he is the nicest and clingy person ever and kinda pawn to them too, also he always do anything to make their partner happy, like: people are making fun of their partner? No problem, he will gladly blackmail that person so that shit never happens again.
-☠️🎀 anon xoxo!!
multiple characters headcannons!
"don't judge a book by it's cover.", they say.
characters: kokichi, korekiyo, byakuya, celestia, nagito x m!reader
author's note: yup it's danganronpa dw^^ anyways sure! i love the prompt tho and the idea it's literally chef's kiss to me lmfao (i was planning to finish both of the remaining reqs rn so yeah basically they'll be open in AT LEAST a few hours so yeah) ENJOY EVERYONEEEE
☆ Kokichi
-so in public you're js a guy that people look at and then immediately turn to their friends to whisper to them "he looks so scary..." or smthn
-and kokichi would ofc notice that
-he would either giggle to himself or actually just yell at them
-"HEY WHO THE HELL ARE YOU CALLING SCARY??!!!??!??!?"
-to the point where you have to drag him away with the most aggressive expression on your face
-people probably don't believe you when you say you're dating much because they think you abuse him or smthn
-but when at home, and you're literally a clingy golden-retriever typa bf, he loves gossiping with you about all those reactions from people in public
-that mischievous idiot will mostly lie to people if anything, like "you won't believe me how scary he is...... he sleeps hugging a knife instead of me!!!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
◉ Korekiyo
-i hope he won't be too ooc
-ANYWAYS so
-it depends if you want people knowing your personality change/difference or not
-like if you want them to know, he will genuinely try to convince them but the thing is that he'll probably add teasing remarks wether you like it or not
-the same goes for if gou don't want them to know, again, he'll do his best to hide your clingy bf side
-if he hears people saying smthn like "look at that guy.... he looks as if he just killed someone.."
-i swear i see him turning around for 2 seconds to look at them, then continue walking with you after saying loud enough for them to hear "yes he may have, and you're probably next."
-he will scare people off using that watchdog vibe that you apparently give to people
-prefers being alone w you tho
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
✷ Byakuya
-oh this guys is a menace(not complaining)
-he has overheard countless shit about people saying "guys..... is that THE byakuya togami?!!??!? why is he walking with that creepy looking guy?"
-and uh he ignores them but definitely makes a grimace at it
-if he's directly talking to someone with you there, and they ask something like "why are you so tense, [name]? chill out a bit......"
-he will literally give them the biggest side-eye ever.
-"if only they were always like that.." he might quietly say but nobody knows.
-when alone, he sometimes wishes he was in public rather than with clingy you.
-don't get either me or him wrong, he loves your affection deep down, but yk him enough to know that he at least has a limit to it all
-kinda hard to be in a relationship w him at all if you think about it but yes????
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
✧ Celestia
-love this woman sm i swear
-okay she's the perfect option allow me to explain and rant about why(i just realized how much i love this woman)
-she LOVES you
-SO fucking much especially like this
-idk if it comes off as ooc to others but to me? she absolutely adores it.
-she loves how you're really protective and would probably kill countless people and go through a million executions just you defend her
-but the thing that she loves more about it is that others don't realize it
-they see you more as someone who would kill everyone, celestia, and then yourself.
-if she overheards people making rumors or smthn while walking with you, she would giggle to herself and then tell you about it all
-loves you in both public and private
-but in private you treat her as how a prince treats his princess so she feels extra special then
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
✿ Nagito
-alright so this guy
-first of all good luck on getting into a relationship w him cuz it's gonna be tricky due to his nonexistent self-esteem and that
-especially with how you look in public
-when he first saw you he thought "that guy will never look my way.." and was probably scared af when you asked him what was his name
-if people make remarks about it in public, he would most not say anything and just tell you everything by whispering to you
-but if he decides to reply to them in any way, he might say something like "you don't know him enough to call him that, don't assume what people are like just by their appearance." and that's literally it
-so mostly you don't pay any mind to it, neither does he
-but LOVES being in private with you when you shower him with compliments and praise no matter how much he denies all of them
-loves you to the point it might become an obsession but yk if you know him enough it doesn't seem weird much
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
really like how i did this one
not sure about korekiyo since i don't really like the guy lol but i tried my best
and finally ofc i celestia is a work of art i love women sm it is not okay anymore
If the Danganronpa protags were Fazbear security guards:
Makoto tries to listen to the Phone Guy's message but some power flicker or spilled drink causes him to miss out on everything after "They're left in some kind of free roaming mode at night," so he knows the animatronics walk around but not that they might kill him and not that he needs to conserve power. When he sees them moving around on the cameras, he honestly thinks about leaving the office to go see, but he isn't sure he's allowed (and also he finds them a little creepy). Because he's keeping things casual, he doesn't waste all that much power. He runs out right on the cusp of 6am, and the hour changes before Freddy finishes his song. It isn't until the second day that he realizes he was in mortal peril. (The second day, he wastes a quarter of his power trying to call his boss and get permission to leave. When no one answers, he's still able to finish the night without dying, but it is stressful.)
Hajime listens to the message in full, them promptly checks the cameras to make sure he has a clear path to the exit, leaves his badge on the desk, and locks the front door on his way out.
Komaru listens to the message and tries to do exactly as instructed, ultimately running out of power from checking the cameras too much and then hiding under the desk until morning. If an animatronic comes in, she will throw a chair at it. Doing this gives her the courage to run for an exit and then recklessly taunt the animatronics from outside, once she sees they can't follow her out.
Kaede is so excited (or nervous) to be a security guard she's wandering the Pizzeria while the message plays without her. Doesn't hear a word of it. She's walking the halls, sweeping and humming, maybe even playing the arcade games to diffuse the tension, and there's honestly a chance that the animatronics go, "Well, she's not a security guard" and leave her alone. If they attack her, she does pretty much just die, though; she could not be less prepared.
Shuichi listens to the whole message and then panics so hard he doesn't check anything for a solid ten minutes. When he does look at the cameras, everyone's left their spot but no one is close to his office. This either unlocks problem solving mode in his brain and he perfectly manages the power while keeping the animatronics at bay, or he shuts both doors then and there and leaves them shut until the power goes off, at which point he walks through the hallways toward the building's exit in the dark and either survives or doesn't. There's no middle ground.
Could I request Mikan from Danganronpa with a self harming reader.
S/O deals with self-harm problems
[ HEADCANONS ] [ Mikan Tsumiki ]
[ Danganronpa Goodbye Despair ]
I hope you are not struggling with this kind of issue and if you do please make sure to take care of your wounds! I know life sucks and I know that need of harming yourself, but please be kind to yourself, you had endure a lot and you are so brave for keep going so you totally deserve some kindness
Moonie-chan is cheering for you from this side of the world 🩷
Mikan is incredibly caring towards you! She is in love, and even when she gets flustered by her own feelings and sometimes overwhelmed you are so important that she can't not worry, besides she really likes taking care of others so if she is able to help you and take care of you she would feel incredibly comforted
Despite being in a relasionship Mikan doesn't like prying in your privacy, when she feels like she is overteping your bounduries she imediatly apologize (even if she hadn't), it will take her a while to get used to be in a fair relationship and be loved just as much as she loves
Taking care of you is one of the ways Mikan shows her love, she is not only the ultimate nurse but loves taking care of others, so as your girlfriend she not only takes care of injures of sickness but all of you in general, she get the habit of asking you if you have eaten already, drink enough water and even if you had a good night of rest
Then again, she doesn't want to pry on your privacy but since she puts a lot of attention on your and your well-being it wouldn't take her a much time before getting to know that you are injured, even if you try to hide the cuts or even harm yourself somewhere it wouldn't be easy to find she will find out one way or another, and the moment she find the cuts she is imediatly in panic taking your hand and leading you towards the infirmary to take care of those injures, she even apologize for being so abrupt with her reaction but she doesn't want her beloved partner to have unatended injuries
She won't think about this injures being self inflicted until are finally properly taken care of, she may notice the strange way are made of since is more likely to be way too organized to be of an accident and yet she doesn't say anything. After treating your wounds and asking you to be careful is when finally the dots will connect in Mikan's mind and realice that you are struggling with self-harm issues, and yet she is too anxious and scared of oversteping the limit that she can't even say anything
It has to be either that you decide to talk about it or even that she end up reaching her limit for worring so much and end up asking you about it (and apologizing in tears for prying), despite how worried Mikan actually is she will not interrupt you when you explain yourself (only her quiet sobs and gasp but she tries really hard to don't say anything until you finish talking), at the end Mikan will not judge in the slighest, she understand the feeling and need to do it to some extent but that doesn't make her feel less concern
Mikan will definetly express her concern and how sorry is that you feel the need to hurt yourself but decide that, for now, the best she can do is give you what you need and teach you how to properly take care of your wounds so it won't end up getting worst that it already is. It will take a moment before Mikan gather the courage to tell you that you aren't alone in this, you count with her and with your other friends if she isn't who you want help from, she want you to stop this unhealthy habit but she promise to be there at your side every step of the way, she suggest searching profesional help but only when you are ready, otherwise you probably won't be comfortable and it won't be of help
Honeslty after finding out Mikan would be so worried that she end up being extra gentle whenever she has to touch you even if is just holding your hand, she even start putting even more attention to you and your well-being, trying to help your body recover from the blood loss
Mikan would have some troubles to cares your skin over your scars but if it comforts you then she will do it, still she tent to stare at the scars with a really sad expression, but whenever you tell her about your imporvements she would be incredibly happy! No matter if you manage to stay a few days or a whole month without self-harming an imporvement is an imporvement and she will not only congratulate you and may even suggest doing something special to celebrate (but will end up asking you what you want to do)
Even if you end up having a relapse she will be there for you, treating your wounds with the same care as always and trying to make you feel better, she may cry but she will express how proud she is that you manage to stay some time without doing it! You have being truly brave and stronge to fight your need and she knows you can do it again, she has a lot of faith in you and this relapse will not make her lose hope that one day you will be able to live free of this habit
Kodaka very obviously wants to make Danganronpa 4, but as many people have pointed out already, this would conflict with the ending of V3. I thought I would make things easier on our resident murder mystery writer who appears to really like making mascots that remind me of Whisper from Yo-Kai Watch, and come up with some solutions to this problem! Organized in approximate order of increasing silliness and grasping at straws, with some additional director's notes from ✨me✨!!
So, how can Kodaka make a new Danganronpa game that works with the ending of Danganronpa V3?:
Danganronpa isn't actually a killing game franchise loved around the world; Tsumugi either lied or was lied to herself (probably with the use of a Flashback Light to make her believe she was a willing ringleader). Allows for some interesting angst if it's the second option.
Despair made a sudden comeback and took over a good portion of the world. Tsumugi fudged some details, but it's true that a lot of the world now enjoys killing games, because normal life is just boring to them (a life without despair and death?! Ugh! Who'd want that, am I right?). We find out in a later installment that the survivors joined with other forces fighting against despair. Danganronpa 4 explores a separate killing game also put on in the name of this new global wave of despair.
Danganronpa 4 turns out to be a prequel (possibly featuring a killing game that the in-game franchise was inspired by, possibly just being one of the numerous previous installments Tsumugi threw out there in her exposition monologue, possibly some secret third option), and ends up with some ridiculous name so fans don't get confused on the sequence of events. Personally, I hope the name is Danganronpa Negative Four.
As so many postgame fics have taken to declaring, the entire game was a simulation. Except to make this work, it probably wouldn't be a simulation designed by Team Danganronpa – no, no, no! Perhaps this killing game was put on by Remnants of Despair or – *exaggerated gasp* – the Future Foundation themselves, hm?
Danganronpa V3 was a really fucked up social experiment and none of the "reality TV" backstory was real. No one knows how it got past the ethics committee, so don't ask.
It was all an alternate dimension/timeline. ... Look, if all it takes to brainwash someone into mass murder is forcing them to come to anime night, they can throw in a little time or dimension travel!
To piggyback on that last idea, the "reality TV" backstory was true; Danganronpa V3 and all the previous installments in this series were fiction... in the Rain Code universe. Or some other video game setting made by Kodaka. Nothing of the sort happened in the actual Danganronpa continuity, however.
Danganronpa V3 was Junko Enoshima's idea of heaven. Of course, it wouldn't have been complete without the despair of her ideal world being destroyed, hence the survivor trio shutting down her killing game show. Danganronpa 4, therefore, takes place in the living world, continuing off vaguely where the Danganronpa 3 anime left off. Notably, all questions about how Junko's heaven works and why she even got to go to heaven in the first place are not solved until a separate anime series, where we find out it was originally supposed to be her hell until she made the demon in charge of looking after her quit and give her full range of the place. It's never answered whether the participants of the killing game were other dead souls or just beings she created.
The entire thing was just the Monokuma Children playing with dolls. ... Or, knowing them, dead bodies.
Before V3 came out my brother had this whole theory that all of the characters were in a pseudo time loop where every time a killing game concluded, they'd just roll out a set of clones of everyone and start all over again, presumably killing off the survivors of the last game. I have no idea how this would solve Kodaka's issue but I want to see if they could find a way to make it work.
I'm excited to see what becomes of Kodaka's newest works, but apparently by his own admission he's interested in returning to Danganronpa at some point, so I thought I'd do the hard part for him. Feel free to take any of these ideas and run with them, Kodaka!
(feel free to add your own suggestions on how to make the ending of V3 work with a new Danganronpa game!)
This might be the hottest take of the century but I genuinely believe that despite having like a collective 10 minutes of screen time, Monokuma is utilized significantly better in DR3 than he is in V3.
What made Monokuma work as a villain and antagonist in the early entries is that while he's silly, he's genuinely a threat and he has a consistent looming presence. There's always a feeling of helplessness surrounding him and the sense that you can't escape from him no matter where you go that balances out his comedic side.
Take DR1 for example, Monokuma feels like he's always on your back and giving you no time to be alone or in peace. It feels like he could do something horrible if you do something as simple as looking at him funny.
DR2 takes a slightly different approach. Monokuma is more lighthearted but way more chaotic. Now he feels like a trigger happy god who will do whatever he wants whenever he wants just because he can. That feeling of helplessness remains because now he feels like an unstoppable force of nature without a care in the world.
On paper, V3 attempts to do something similar, but there's one problem… HE'S BARELY IN THE GAME. 😭
Almost all of the screen time that would have been dedicated to Monokuma is now dedicated to the last minute additions that are the Monokubs, AKA the exact opposite of an intimidating threat.
Monokuma feels pathetic in V3, he feels like a washed up old man who's only there because it's Danganronpa and they need to have the mascot in it. There's no sense of helplessness because he doesn't even feel like an actual threat, he's a boring joke now.
It feels like in V3 they wanted to go for the more chaotic Monokuma from DR2, but they forgot that what made Monokuma work in DR2 is that he was a consistent presence who actually meant business.
It feels like he's only ever there either to tell a joke or to sit around in the class trials. He never asserts himself and whenever he shows up I go "oh it's Monokuma again" instead of "oh shit what does he want this time."
As the series goes on, Monokuma gets more increasingly flanderized. The twisted, sadistic side gets less and less focus compared to his more silly chaotic side, which completely kills any threat factor he once had. You can argue that this is "the point" in V3, however whether it's the point or not means nothing if it actively harms the experience instead of benefitting it.
The scene in DR2 where Monokuma tells you just how many of him there are is extremely effective at making you hopeless, it makes you feel like you lost before you even started. DR1 and DR2 have plenty of moments like these, I can't name one from V3.
Now you might be thinking: "ermmm but Pengu, if Monokuma fails in V3 because he's barely there, then how come he works in DR3 when he has even less screen time in there?"
The answer is simple, they actually do something with his minimal presence. There's a thematic purpose that actually enhances the experience.
Monokuma in DR3 is very different from other depictions in the sense that he's not even there, not just in the sense that he's prerecorded. Junko is dead and so is Monokuma by extension.
But you know what isn't dead? The memory of them.
Monokuma may be dead, but the trauma he and the tragedy left behind still remains, THAT is the consistent looming presence in DR3.
Guilt and trauma are a consistent theme in DR3, so it makes sense that the big lingering threat would be the embodiment of them. The symbol of despair.
What do I mean by this? Well just look at the first episode. Just Monokuma's mere laugh is enough to send Makoto and the rest of the room into a panic.
You know what video is used to cause every single member of the Future Foundation to be overloaded with despair to the point where they commit suicide? Why, it's a video of just Monokuma, of course.
Just when things are starting to cool down, just when you're starting to think it's all over, the memories and the despair linger.
And that's why Monokuma's minimal presence works so well in DR3 and not V3, because now in DR3 he's just a haunting memory, one that will be with you forever. Because of that, his consistent looming presence is still there even if he's not.
Note: I updated a few things to hopefully make my point clearer
Why I Adore Charuko - A Ramble/Essay from the Charuko CEO
In this...ramble...essay, I want to break down one of my biggest OTPs I've ever had in a fandom. And that pairing? Teruko Tawaki x Charles Cuevas from Danganronpa: Despair. Commonly known as either Charuko or Lucky Chemistry. It's time I talk about why I love them & what makes them click for me!
Before I get into this, I want to remind everyone that the purpose of this is not to try and convince people to like the ship or to belittle another ship. It's purely me wanting to connect with fellow Charuko fans & have fun as I just gush about this pairing. That being said, I would appreciate if you guys please be respectful & not send hate towards this post, myself, or any other people who like Charuko. This post isn't an excuse for you to be hateful.
With that being said, let's get onto why I personally love Charuko / Lucky Chemistry!
Dynamic & Current Relationship
The dynamic between Teruko & Charles is one that I find the most fun, regardless if it's in a platonic or romantic view. I'll be skimming over the prologue since it doesn't say a whole lot about their dynamic in the beginning, and I'll dive into Ch1. In Ch1 Episode 1, Teruko is assigned to explore with Charles as a means of safety, and right off the bat, there's a few scenes that give us as viewers an idea of their dynamic. And that dynamic is blunt x snark. They make constant jabs at eachother, but also sort of think alike in some areas. Neither of them wants to be with the other, but they both know that they have no choice but to tag along eachother. Shown in the screen shots below is just a few examples of their dynamic from the episode.
Ch1 Episode 1 really sets down the dynamic. Two individuals who are completely honest to eachother & have no problem taking jabs, but can easily come to agreements when it comes down to it. This is essentially their dynamic for most of Ch1, but there's a few more things to add that I hadn't mentioned yet.
• Teruko finds Charles fun to tease due to his flustered reactions. She refers to him as "cactus lover" and even makes a few witty marks at him that cause him to get embarrassed.
• Charles, while thinking Teruko is quite dumb, does acknowledge that she does have few bits of smartness in her, just not in the way that he does.
Moving on, their dynamic changes quite a bit in Ch2, which makes sense considering that in this point of time, Teruko closes herself off from everyone in order to not trust anyone again. Ch2 Episode ends off like this. Charles asks Teruko if she's heading to the second floor, following that if she needs a partner to explore with, then he'd do it, which she soon rejects.
This is later explored when Whit tells Teruko that Charles wants to talk to her in the infirmary. Teruko, while hesitant at first, does decide to go & see what he wants out of pure curiousity. When she arrives, she immediately gives herself a bad papercut from a book. Once Charles shows up, Teruko quickly hides her hand because of his fear of blood. While talking, Teruko drops a bit of her life story to Charles, telling him about how difficult her life has been up until this point, and Charles stands there and listens quite intently.
Moving on, Charles explains that he wanted give the secret he recieved from the secrets motive to her. He explains that this is because he acknowledges that Teruko is the type to reveal the truth when necessary. He knows she'd say something when it's called for. Teruko grabs the secret from Charles, and before she leaves, we get this:
CHARLES. WITH A BLUSH ON HIS FACE. STATES THAT HE LIKES TALKING TO TERUKO & TELLS HER NOT TO TAKE IT THE WRONG WAY.
While he explains that it's because she doesn't pity him like everyone else, there is still some genuine feelings about what he said.
He straights points on their dynamic, with A GODDAMN SMILE ON HIS FACE. Charles may not be the type to be all mushy with his emotions, but the fact that he smiles while thinking of his dynamic with Teruko is very sweet. After this whole ordeal, Teruko leaves with Charles going after her due to him trying to call her out on how her behavior right now is only going to hurt her like it hurt him, with it leading to beautiful gem of MonoTV pouncing on Charles.
As the chapter progresses, there isn't too much to say about Charles & Teruko's relationship until the trial. In Ch2 Episode 11, during Teruko's fight with David, she finds herself knocked in a corner. Charles notices this, and immediately slashes down David's words.
While we don't know what was discovered due to the hiatus & the rest of Ch2 being worked on, it can be said that Charles noticed something Teruko didn't, and thinks they'll be in for a big mess.
So, what is their current relationship? Overall, it's a mixture of two snarks who are always being snide to eachother, but also individuals who are foils, thinking similarly in more ways than one.
Aesthetics & Cuteness
On top of me jusy adoring their dynamic, I'm also in love with the aesthetic & overall cuteness this ship brings.
The color palettes.
I'M A SUCKER FOR PURPLE & GREEN COLOR PALETTES, SO THESE TWO HAVING THOSE PALETTES IS SO LOVELY TO ME! Their palettes together can make for some beautiful art, especially if it's themed around nature. On top of that, you could put them in eachother's signature color, and it'd look really pretty! It's so aesthetically pleasing, and it gets me all giddy!
Also, they really are just so cute together! I adore ships where the pairing feels like an old married couple, and they def feel like it! Just a pairing who make fun of eachother & are just kinda silly!
THEY ARE ALSO SOSOSOSO AESTHETIC OUTSIDE OF THEIR COLORS! Like, I could put them in settings like a cottage or a forest, and they'd look so pleasing together! It'd just be so beautiful, EEEEE!
Headcanons + Conclusion
To end off this lil' ramble / essay, I'mma just drop a buncha Charuko hcs! I hope you had fun reading this! NOW ENJOY THE HEADCANONS, WEEE!
• They usually go on picnic dates, indoor dates, or baking dates!
• Charles loves to style Teruko's hair in different ways. He thinks almost any style would look pretty on her.
• Teruko tries to get into things Charles likes, such as gardening or reading. She'd just want to try and connect with him more!
• On their shopping dates, Teruko always asks Charles for his opinion on any outfit she chooses to buy / wear. He gives his honest opinions, but also reminds her that he thinks anything could look good on her.
• They're very much touch-starved, so they cuddle a lot when nobody's looking.
• GIRLFAILBOSS X MALEWIFE VIBES!
• Cottagecore softies on a nice day...Let Teruko be more girly & Charles embrace a softer side.../pos
Spoilers for the DR3 anime + a few heavier(?) topics
I had a convo yesterday (you know who you are), and I still can't stop thinking about it. DR3 annoys me so bad. I actually hate that stupid anime and how it portrayed the characters and how they made Nanami's words mean anything at all. A talented person talking about no talent is like a straight person talking about gay people, and Nanami, nor anybody else who is talented, has no right to say anything at all. I hate that they made Hinata listen to her and make it seem normal because, realistically, those words would mean nothimg to him. Like a sweet lie, that only the talented could believe.
"You have more freedom than us. You can become anybody and go anywhere." Words like this are nice, but nothing more than that. They're just nice. Is that really the truth, if everyone can see the opposite and believes so wholeheartedly? Can a talented person who bears no problems with talent whatsoever really speak on talent this way, and should they be believed?
Is it really okay to say that when it is known to them, from the very beginning, that people with no talent could never go anywhere or achieve anything?
When Hinata's perspective specifically shows us the painful experiences he had gone through, and is basically told to us in a way that oppression works and the awful, corrupted ways of society in Danganronpa, mixed with the already similar things that happen in Japan? If you look at it through this lens, Hinata's story really isn't all that distant from what many of us already know, and he narrates to us the harsh reality of an academic life of a person like him.
I hate that it was never addressed how it was only talented people who spoke about talent not meaning anything at all, especially when it was so clearly not the case. The DR3 anime has many flaws, and this is one of the biggest ones, as the narrative Hinata tries to show us suddenly appears less significant.
And is it really the case when even those who say it are very clearly biased, such as Yukizome Chisa, who was punished by teaching the reserve course, and then talked about how bad it was for her, and didn't care at all about their lives as people, but rather a part of a task?
Is it really okay to say that if the very person who it is said to doesn't even believe it himself, and he gets hurt because of it for no reason at all? Is it okay to say that if Hinata Hajime, who did absolutely nothing wrong, even got assaulted by a part of the staff, just for wanting to talk to someone and find out what happened to his, dare I say, only true friend because her death was swept under a rug, and he didn't even know what truly happened to her? Is it really okay if nobody even cared about the fact he was visibly bruised and hurt, especially since you can clearly still see traces of it. Is it really okay if they mentally pushed a teenager to give up his life for talent in such ways, by making it seem like his life meant nothing at all if he couldn't be someone?
Because, in truth, could he really become somebody? Did he even believe that himself? Did anybody really believe that?
Being completely honest, the only people who ever get to talk about talent are people who don't have it, and Komaeda. He might be a part of the talented group, but he is, by all means, the only person who truly understands what Hinata, or anybody else could go through, and talent ruined his life just like it did everybody else's who doesn't possess one. He understands, and he wouldn't treat them that way. He knows just what it's like for them and what the reality is for them and he doesn't sugarcoat it. He can see it really well, unlike everybody else who is either ignorant of it or compares it to their lives, as talented, privileged people.
He, himself, doesn't have the same privilege and all that his talent brought him was pain. It is a curse to him.
I really hate how little structure DR3 really has. Every character is mischaracterised or has no substance at all, and there is just no plot whatsoever except for fan-based content and fanservice. People who complain about DR3 being awful aren't complaining for no reason, it really is just absolutely shit, and it also leaves out a lot of important key details, plus dismisses what the storyline has already set, especially as a foundation for the characters and their dynamics.
Even more, I hate that people like Hinata and Nanami's dynamic in the anime, because it was horrible and it ruined the whole purpose of it. Not only did they make it imply romantic stuff, which was just another, fan based content thing, but also completely destroyed what they already had.
And I hate how people don't talk about the fact that Nanami didn't stop Hinata at all or even try to because he was clearly not okay. Bruised up, leftover traces of blood, avoidant, talking to Nanami about making memories, visibly not okay mentally.
In fact, I believe that if he didn't have the project to join, he would have killed himself or at least attempted to.
for the ask game (with either raincode or danganronpa) :
👛 your favorite rare pair?
💕a ship you’d defend with your life?
♠️ favorite protagonist?
(from this ask game)
👛 your favorite rare pair?
I don't think much about danganronpa shipping anymore (my brain is now just permanently rotating enoshima, kamukura, komaeda, ouma and kiibo there like rotisserie chickens instead, i am TOO BUSY!!!), so rain code it is: yumayomi/kokohell/the japanese side calls it yumayomi ig and the english side does not call it anything because no one except me and like 2 other people care. yuma & yomi are just so objectively hilarious as a duo and the possibilities of putting them in Situations are fucking endless nobody does it like they do it. every day another yuma and yomi au idea establishes itself in my mind i am running out of storage room i have so many other things i should care about that aren't wacky rain code yaois but guess what i cannot they won't let me
(also fubuyomi honorable mention. I have to mention fubuyomi they also drive me but I have zero words to describe it. oh and worshipper x priest despite me keeping silent about it for a solid few months i did not forget religious serial killer toxic sludge yaoi anyway have you listened to we will commit wolf murder by of montreal for no reason in particular)
💕a ship you’d defend with your life?
zero hesistation ougoku danganronpa like what is you people's PROBLEM??? "it's abusive" jesse what the fuck are you talking about. Ouma did not "manipulate" him Gokuhara knew exactly what he was doing. Ouma explicitly told him his plans for the Insect Meet and Greet in the FTE's right before the event, and Gokuhara got mad at him because he lied about liking bugs, (which Ouma had to do because you've all seen how Gokuhara reacts to people that don't. you've seen it) NOT because he suddenly realized he was being manipulated or something. So many people dismiss the sheer amount of agency Gokuhara actually had in chapter 4, in favour of painting the situation as just "poor stupid baby gonta got tricked into murder by the big bad ouma :((((" while. he is not STUPID (HE IS LITERALLY A SCIENTIST??) he was not COERCED into his crimes, he was a WILLING ACCOMPLICE!!!!!! I FEEL LIKE I'M LOSING MY GODDAMN MIND!!!!! He did it in a misguided attempt at mercy killing his classmates after finding out the world got fucked and everything sucks now. There are multiple pieces of dialogue that highly imply Ouma did in fact also want to mercy kill the class - which also makes sense as it would end the killing game (you know his. main. true. goal.) This would mean that he only started his plan to become the “mastermind” after Gonta told him to not die with him <- this one's quoted from my favourite dr theory blog jacksmusesdrv3 hello hava good day I couldn't find another way to word this myself. "Ouma faked being sad Gokuhara's about to be/got executed in front of him" his reaction literally parallels Kuzuryuu's to Pekoyama's death buddy. buddy. Ouma's entire thing is that he lies about lying about lying about lying WHY are you taking his word at face value why are you believing whAT THE LIAR IS TELLING YOU?????? WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING. PUT ME OUT OF MY FUCKING MISERY I CANNOT TAKE THIS. People treat Gokuhara like he's stupid (which is "funny" (he said through clenched teeth) since isn't that the entire thing everybody ingame severely underestimates him and then. i can't) while he and Ouma are two of some of the smartest people in the game. And! Gokuhara is perfectly capable of lying and having ulterior motives we've all saw him do that right :)))) multiple times right :)))))) Gokuhara even SAYS Ouma didn't trick him BECAUSE HE DIDN'T. HE DID NOT. These two have the some of the most genuine dynamics in dr, and the best in ndrv3, and you dare disrespect them like this. shame on you. SHAME. People always assume the worst in Ouma, and the best in Gokuhara. This is my personal hell. I am not okay.
♠️ favorite protagonist?
Easily Yuma, beating literally all of dr's protags (though dr1 Naegi has second place. I love you Naegi Makoto). Where do I even start? I think I'm too tired after the above rant to articulate myself anymore and I think if I wasn't that essay would take an entire week to finish lmao.
Thanks for the ask anon :3 !!!
Shuichi Harem: Saihara Detective Agency, 2/5
Previous post. I'll do my best to link these together for those who want to see them all. We've got a lot to get through~
Also? Because I'm linking the posts, I'll be doing a lot less review of the general history of the encompassing AU. I wound up repeating myself a lot in the Fate harem posts a while back, and I'm going to cut back on that problem as much as possible. (人◕ω◕) I will reference non-canon events sometimes, and it'll be up to you readers to either roll with it or go back and read the previous post. I've connected V3 with the rest of the Hope's Peak saga and revolutionized the "fiction" bits to fit a more grounded narrative that doesn't seek to toss everything (everything) in Danganronpa out with the bathwater. This is my choice, so happy reading. All haters that don't have legit criticisms will be muted. (人◕ω◕)
The Beginning
Maki Harukawa... Here's what you need to know. In this AU, her past is near identical to canon. She had a friend at the orphanage she wanted to protect, so Maki joined a cult - or rather, their mercenary corps - to keep them from recruiting her friend who seemed to have a lot more innate potential for the craft. Maki still did a ton of work as an assassin as a child, and her friend still died while she was away from the orphanage. Consequentially, Maki closed herself off from others and committed to assassin work full-time to numb the pain of her loss.
Eventually, she made a big enough blip on Hope's Peak's radar. More specifically, the Steering Committee caught wind of her ruthlessness and efficiency, and felt it was worth studying her and offered her shelter from the cult that controlled her life. Maki wasn't an idiot, she knew that she was exchanging a much smaller fish for a freaking killer whale when it came to the cult vs the Steering Committee of Hope's Peak, yet she was still sore about her friend's death and the pointlessness of going along with the cult...
So Maki jumped ship and let the Steering Committee bury the cult with their nigh well unlimited resources. She wasn't fool enough to think they were on her side, to assume that they didn't have means of reining her in or erasing her should she step out of line. But she did have a lot more freedom than before, and they funneled a ton of new, more high profile work her way. For her, it was just the next stage of evolution of her screwed up life. She never had true choices, demented adults dictated what she was to do and Maki carried out her duties whether she liked it or not.
Her cover story, if Kizakura or the Headmaster or anyone was truly pushy about knowing what she did for a living, Maki (as well as her public file) was to tell them she was the Ultimate Child Caregiver, and not the Ultimate Assassin. Her talent worked along similar lines as the Ultimate Imposter in that she wasn't supposed to advertise what she was; if she was truly the best assassin, Maki could get by with a lame-ass cover story that probably no one believed. (人◕ω◕) Maki just channeled her experiences from the orphanage to come up with stories of her 'raising kids', and that seemed to satisfy most people that asked.
Although to be fair, she never spent much time at Hope's Peak, as Class 79 was only there a few precious months before the Tragedy unfolded and they were whisked away by a separate Mastermind. While at Hope's Peak, Maki kept to herself and stonewalled her classmates. Work was more preferable, even if all the constant killing numbed her to the bone and gave her plenty of nightmares. (人◕ω◕)
This isn't to say Maki never associated with her classmates. She just didn't truly bond with them. Not in these few months. The ones she talked to the most were the nosy Kaede and Kaito... and she kept an eye on their resident luckster, who appeared to have a history of working in a private detective's firm. His Uncle's. Though Shuichi seemed to swear off detective work... up until that pianist ninny dragged one of their senpai over, and eventually got Shuichi to tagalong as a poor excuse of a sidekick. (人◕ω◕) Yeah, Maki didn't have a high opinion of Shuichi with how wishy-washy he was. And Shuichi didn't know what to make of Maki, with how closed off she was.
Their beginnings were not rosy. But it's just the hand they were dealt~ Maki is an assassin. Shuichi a wannabe detective. They were destined to be at odds, at least at first. (人◕ω◕)
... Oh, and just so we're perfectly clear? Yes, Kokichi approached Maki Roll during these first few months. He was the worst to deal with because it's like he figured out her 'game' from Day 1. (人◕ω◕) And despite knowing what she did, Kokichi just kept pushing her buttons. The fact the gremlin gravitated to Shuichi as a "bestie" only made Maki avoid Shuichi more, back at Hope's Peak. She came close to pounding the grape gremlin more than a few times... But she always held herself back because one of the Steering Committee's rules was to not touch fellow Ultimate students; they needed them in mint condition for research purposes. (人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕)
The Hazy Middle
Suffice to say, when it rains, it pours. (人◕ω◕) Class 79 was kidnapped during the Tragedy, and they were presumed dead as their bodies were never found. The truth is much more disturbing: They were whisked away to a remote location for a different sort of... research. But not one of them was aware they were under a theoretical microscope. What they did know is that they were trapped in a "Killing Game", and to escape they needed to kill a classmate and fool everyone else. A game Maki might've played if she didn't have experience dealing with shady entities and knowing they couldn't be trusted for shit. (人◕ω◕)
... But as obstinate as she was in the beginning, keeping to herself and refusing to get attached, eventually the Mastermind(s) found ways to push her buttons. (人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕) The first round Maki avoided becoming a "killer", but in subsequent loops...? You better believe she was pressured just like everyone else.
Yes, they were trapped in a Killing Game "loop". Their memories always wiped (repressed) or adjusted so they only retained certain ones. Sometimes false memories were even manufactured so they could be used later; Class 79 were put through theater/TV productions to make them believe the memories they were acting out (unknowingly) were real. So seeing a "city" in ruins, they believed it to be Tokyo. Rifling through those ruins for supplies and shelter. And so on and so forth. (人◕ω◕) Each loop was unique, and sometimes they were given false names and talents to see what would happen. Maki was generally kept an assassin in the shadows, waiting to strike when she was pushed too far.
But like the Hope's Peak and Jabberwock Killing Games, life is never so simple. Even in these scripted loops. (人◕ω◕) Maki was never a thorough, dyed-in-the-wool blackheart. She never pretended to be an idealist or a sap like Kaito or Kaede. However, deep down she possessed some scruples. Maki was more of a gray character. An antihero if it came down to it. When she didn't succumb to motives or manipulations, Maki was dragged into bonding with Kaito, and subsequently Kaede and Shuichi who were joined at the hip with the idiot.
They weren't always all alive each loop. Whether the "survivors" took down the "Mastermind" or not, it was more normal for one or two of them to die by the end of each loop. Still, regardless of which varied combination, these three became Maki's anchors to morality and humanity. Kaito appeared to be her favorite for several loops… And even up to the most recent loop, Kaito seems to know from instincts how to reach out to her; it takes persistence and showing her your heart. (人◕ω◕) Maki might still treat you like a nuisance, might begrudge you every inch of your effort, but eventually you'll wear her down if you squint. She's not the most open person. Maki doesn't like mushy crap (at least she won't ADMIT anything).
… But as special as Kaito was, after a while Maki began avoiding him on instinct. Not out of spite or hatred of him, but deep down her subconscious remembered losing him more than once, and she rightly or wrongly came to associate those miserable feelings with "I'm cursed because of my past and bloodied hands, I can't risk Kaito dying because of me." These loops have made all of Class 79 a hot mess, and they keep acting on impulses and instincts they don't understand at all because their memories keep getting repressed each loop. (人◕ω◕) It makes the study of Class 79… fascinating~
So what happens? Well, we get a case of Maki stuck at a crossroads. Sometimes the darkness consumes her because she isolates herself so completely. Other times she "remembers" she has friends (unconsciously) and she becomes a risky yet dependable ally if the chips fall just right. (人◕ω◕) And who do we have to thank for Maki's…growth? Surprisingly it's not the sappy sacks, Kaede and Kaito. Those two don't give up, and they did wonders in getting her to open up… But Maki is NOT a ball of sunshine. As nice as it can be to indulge in their "never say die" attitudes sometimes, you know it's not good to stare into the sun too long, right? (人◕ω◕)
This…is where Shuichi comes in. He's as much a "prisoner" as she is with those blowhards, even if it's annoying to deal with his lack of self-esteem. (人◕ω◕) Shuichi is more grounded… And despite becoming an artificial "Ultimately Detective" throughout the loops, he really sucks at doubting others in the beginning. It leads Maki to watch out for him and teach him that some people just aren't worth believing in. She's a heavy pessimist, and thinks the two of them will inevitably be at odds because of her real identity. Yet she's proven wrong time and again as Shuichi puts in the effort to reach out to her even after she's exposed as an assassin throughout the loops. They keep having this conversation where Maki argues assassins exist in part because of detectives, and Shuichi keeps arguing back he'll work towards a world where Maki can live the way she wants to. Where assassins won't be "needed". (人◕ω◕) Maki has no reason to believe he'll pull it off. He sounds as idealistic as the space idiot… Yet some part of her deep down WANTS to see what this shoddy excuse of a detective manages to do. It's irrational. But she can be perfectly candid and transparent with Shuichi and not get bombarded with cheesy hugs or empty reassurances that everything will be okay. Shuichi is trying to end these Killing Games and find the Mastermind, and sure he's not the most awe-inspiring guy that ever existed. But it means a lot that he listens and tries playing devil's advocate. He does get caught up in Kaede and Kaito's optimism, but Shuichi isn't a total suckup that just goes along with all their whims. He does try being the detective they all sorely need. (人◕ω◕)
… Now, Kokichi gravitating to Shuichi all the damn time… It gets on Maki's nerves and she despises the troll. She can't figure the little shit out, and a large part of that is his friendship with Shuichi is GENUINE despite how much he messes around. (人◕ω◕) Maki doubles down on watching out for Shuichi because of that turd.
Romance between them is slow, and doesn't happen often. It usually takes specific conditions, like Kaede or Kaito dying. But it's not just a consoling type of relationship, they've been building up to this whether they knew it or not. Maki isn't overly sappy or shameless like those other hussies, but she does get…jealous. (人◕ω◕) She's affectionate with Shuichi in her own unique way, and she appreciates the reciprocation even if his confidence could use a damn overhaul. Has several girls hanging off him, and he thinks he has nothing to offer? For a detective he sure misses the small stuff. (人◕ω◕) Like that it shouldn't matter what HE thinks of himself. That's not how attraction works. If he WAS vain or self-absorbed, Maki would probably throttle him and not talk with him nearly as much. (人◕ω◕) If he could just have SOME self-love, that'd tie it all up with a nice little bow. But oh well, fixing that stuff is on Kaede or Tenko. Maki's here to temper his detective work and salvage her own soul somewhat. Don't you judge her. (人◕ω◕)
The Ending... or a new Beginning...?
Eventually the loops will end. Class 79 survivors will enter a period of collective comas because their minds can only handle so much. (人◕ω◕) But the comas won't be forever. And their repressed memories will return to them over the coming months and years. It's gonna take a lot of counseling and rehab to come to grips with the past five years.
Maki…is left not knowing what to do. For the first time in her life, a blank canvas of her future lies before her, and she doesn't have the first idea what to commit to paper. The cult is gone. The Steering Committee is gone. The whole underworld is in chaos and getting reshaped to fit the new post-apocalyptic world. If she goes back to assassin work, she's basically continuing Ultimate Despair's agenda, and that's a whole new level of darkness she isn't completely sure she wants any part in. (人◕ω◕) For better or worse, she missed out on the Tragedy because she was trapped with her class. She knows criminal elements will continue existing. But now she's being given an out - a completely blank slate. If she chooses to go back to what she's always known, that's suddenly on her. No messed up adults forcing her to obey them. (人◕ω◕)
… So Maki drifts to Shuichi's humble new agency he opens up. Shuichi would benefit from someone that's had experience on the other side of the fence of the law, and has her ear to the pavement on sheer instinct, listening to the underworld rumblings. Despite Kirumi being cagey about Maki showing up out of the blue, Shuichi trusts her. Maki's the second one to show up and offer to lend a hand… Well, maybe third, if you counted Kokichi…? But regardless, Maki's experience and knowledge is invaluable to his mission of creating a better world, one step at a time. (人◕ω◕) Maki still thinks he's shooting for the moon, he's still several steps behind criminal elements. That's just how it is for detectives.
Yet working with Shuichi isn't a strain, isn't like a boulder tied around her neck. It's her choice and she's making something of her life. Finally. (人◕ω◕)
Kaede, Miu, and Tenko are exhausting to deal with, but the biggest headache for Maki is Kirumi who makes her jump through so many hoops to just be around Shuichi. (人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕) And if anything, the distrust is mutual because Maki remembers some loops where Kirumi became a "killer", too… Of course Kirumi is quick to point out SHE has never killed anyone for real. Maki HAS. (人◕ω◕) Not that that's a comfort to Maki after the maid tried covering up her crimes in the loops… She's not paragon of virtue and justice either. (人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕)(人◕ω◕)
But such is life~… Whether they like it or not, these five all love Shuichi, and Shuichi loves them all. If you think it's spicy while they're all dating Shuichi, just want until marriage. … And parenthood. (人◕ω◕)/
if you want for the shipping asks, and idk the ship name but it'll be neat to hear your opinion: numbers 8, 15, 17 and 19 for the danganronpa ship u like and numbers 1, 6, 15, and 20 for bowuigi if you'd like, sorry thats a lot but have a nice day :)
Thanks for the ask!!! It's not a lot, no worries! The Danganronpa ship I like is called IshiMondo, with Kiyotaka (Taka) Ishimaru and Mondo Owada (or Oowada, depending on localization) as the characters. ^-^
I'll put my response in a read more, since it's obviously an hour long, given my deep and passionate love of rambling. :-)
(Edit: I just noticed that I legit wrote Taka's name as Kiyotaka Ishimondo. 😂😂😂😭😭😭 Please know I was very tired when I answered this last night and didn't proof read. 😂😂😂😂😂😂)
Shipping Asks
IshiMondo:
8. What is their first date like?
Funny enough, I wrote a story about their first date in the universe of my main story for the pair, The Problem with Perfection. However, considering that I changed both characters over the span of my fic to sort of deconstruct their personality traits and coping mechanisms, I'm not quite sure if that's how their first date would go when you look at them according to canon. Based on canon, my belief is that their "first date" wasn't actually a "date," per se. Given their obliviousness, and comments from (I believe??) a writer of Danganronpa, I'd think they'd go on hundreds of "dates" before realizing that they're dating, at which point they'd already have been living together for years with multiple pets and literally all of their friends believing they're in the strongest long-term relationship of all of them. Perhaps they'd even have an adopted child or two by that point, who knows. 😅😅😅
15. What's their song?
Oooh, this is a tough one... see, there are tons of songs that remind me of IshiMondo, to the point where I made an entire YouTube playlist for TPWP dedicated to the pair (which you can find here, if you're interested). But a single song that is "their" song? Well. In the context of TPWP, I'd say it would either be I See the Light, from Disney's Tangled, or So Close, from Disney's Enchanted. Both songs are used at emotional cruxes of the fic, since I adore both songs and I was like "f*** it, I'm the writer, what I say goes," ha. In that universe, I'd say that they both would see both songs as "their song," given that both were kinda instrumental in them getting together in the fic. Now, as for in canon... that gets trickier. I'm not really sure what song they would consider "their" song, especially given that my taste in music does not seem to align with music either would like. Taka, for one, does not strike me as someone who likes music that isn't either political/patriotic (to Japan, not America, ha) in some way, or that is educational. And Mondo would profess to like tough, biker guy music, while secretly liking, like... pop or something. So, for the sake of my sanity, I'll just go with the ones I said for TPWP.
17. Favorite activity to do together or way to spend time together?
Oh, this is easy. For Taka, it would be to "quietly" study together while either in one of their respective rooms, or else in the library. For Mondo it would be to ride around on his motorcycle. No real destination in mind, just riding while pressed close together. Collectively, it would be taking baths in a local bathhouse together, doing their "manly bonding" while butt naked, since both of them seem to think this is a perfectly normal thing to do. Which, I believe, it is in Japan, so no shame there.
19. Where would they travel or go on vacation/honeymoon?
Hm, this is tricky, again. Somewhere local, I would think. Taka is a very practical, hardworking man, who comes from an impoverished background. He wouldn't understand the point of going on an elaborate vacation, even for his honeymoon. Mondo might want to, but ultimately he'd defer to Taka, and they might do a tour of Japan, going to historical areas that are rich with history and whatnot. I'd go more into detail, but I'm honestly getting really tired, so I won't ramble too much more, ha.
Bowuigi:
1. How do they sleep? Ie, positions, who spoons who, who steals all the covers, etc.)?
Honestly man, I have no idea, ha. 😅😅😅 They'd have to sleep very, very carefully given the size difference. I like to think of them sleeping in kind of like a pile. Bowser curled protectively around Luigi like a dragon, while Luigi sleeps lying mostly on top of Bowser. ^-^
6. What do they playfully tease each other about?
Luigi playfully teases Bowser about how grandiose he always is, especially in relation to how he used to chase after Peach. There are other things he'd tease Bowser about, but as I said earlier I'm getting really tired and nothing is coming to mind, sorry! Bowser would playfully tease Luigi about how nervous he always is about everything. Sometimes it would go a bit passed "playful" into "kinda mean," but Bowser would always stop before it got too far and would do his best to apologize while not apologizing. Things like "anonymously" giving Luigi gifts, or doing small gestures that he ordinarily wouldn't do for anyone but that show Luigi how much he cares.
15. What's their song?
Ahhhh another hard one! Especially because I interpret this question as meaning "the song they believe represents them, or that is the song they associate with their relationship," as it usually means when couples talk about "their song." But I honestly don't know what song either of them would consider "their song," since again my taste of music doesn't seem like it would fit either of them. Bowser would likely like hard rock/metal, while Luigi would like more folksy, down to earth music. Likely Italian, ha. A song I associate with them would be Beautiful Things Can Come From The Dark, by Azure Ray. But that's just a song I associate with most "enemy to lovers" relationships, honestly. Same with The Reason, by Hoobastank. Another one that I associate with them is They Don't Know, by Tracy Ullman (Note: I know she's not the original singer, but her version is the one my dad would play when I was a kid, so it's the only one I know. Though after listening to the original by Kirsty MacColl I think Luigi would appreciate this one better, honestly).
20. How is their home decorated?
Well, I imagine they'd live in Bowser's castle given that he's a king, so there would be the usual things in Bowser's castle, such as dark stone walls and flowing lava. Luigi would definitely make changes, though, to make it more homey. He'd add flowers, bright wallpaper, brighter lights, things like that to make the decor less dreary, but still respecting Bowser's desire to be somewhat intimidating. It would be a good blend of their personalities I think.
Anyway, that took way longer than intended. 😭😭😭 I've been writing this pretty much since I got the ask about an hour ago, oof. I hope this was informative though! I'd proof read, but it's nearly midnight and I have to be up at 6:30 for one of my last days at my internship. Only four more to go!!!!!! Thanks God!!!!!!!!!!! While this internship isn't the worst, and my supervisor is nice, he's kinda incompetent and isn't really teaching me much. They're pretty much using me as slave labor and are taking my creations (I've created 2 classroom lessons for various elementary classes. I'm interning as an elementary school counselor) without permission to use for future lessons, as well as getting me to do lunch duty and sometimes cover classes despite the fact I've never worked as a substitute and have no idea what I'm doing in those cases???? But it's like, whatever. As long as I finish the hours and get my credential, I'll be happy.
Anyway, time for bed! Thanks again for the ask! Despite the challenge, this was fun. :-D
A New Year's Retrospective
Well everybody, I'm making this post just a few hours before the new year. As such, I'm gonna share my thoughts.
While I know that this year had many ups and downs, it was a big win for a lot of my friends. For me? I can say with confidence that new years took far too long to get here. Let's just get all this out of the way first.
I'm not gonna pretend like this was my year, because it really wasn't. 2023 was a colossal trainwreck in numerous ways, whether it be in the tech sector, world news, economics or my own home. I dealt with some of the worst computer problems I've had in years, which put the work I wanted to do on hold for months and made me really afraid of losing anything important.
And then a serious wave of depression hit afterward and I just didn't have the energy or will to get anything done. As such, this year only really saw three arcs in total, one of which isn't even done yet.
But that isn't to say that this year was awful either. It was frustrating as hell, yes, but I think there's plenty more good to outweigh the trash:
This year was when I finally crossed 1000 followers, and I now stand at over 1,100. That's way bigger than I ever thought I would get when I was starting out and I could not be more thankful.
Expensive as it was, I finally got a serious tooth problem fixed.
I donated blood again for the first time in years and I sincerely hope it gave three people a new lease on life.
A close friend of mine is doing better than ever and I could not be happier for him.
I got to see some great movies, shows, books, games and series, including new fangans like Danganronpa Mauve.
I have new ideas for stories I really want to share with you all.
I've made some really cool writing buddies, some of whom I met before and got to know better, others I met for the first time and whose work I'm really interested in seeing more of.
While I only really managed to get three arcs out this year, I think All Eyes On Me and The Price of Fate are some of my best ones yet. The first one was just a lot of fun to do and I really think the experimental musical format was something to really make it stand out. PoF was brutal emotionally, but I think it was a great character piece and helped provide a more nuanced view on the situation for our time squad. Plus it gave me the chance to introduce Marin, and it seems everyone REALLY liked that : P
More importantly, I look back on my earlier work now as a learning experience, rather than something to be ashamed of and constantly put down. Even if they weren't great or even that good, they were an integral part of making this blog what it is, and if people can go through them and enjoy them regardless of how I feel about them, I think that's a sign it wasn't as much of a dealbreaker as I thought.
I'm not gonna act like this year was all good or all bad, because no year really is. Things happen and you live and you learn. Even if this wasn't a great year for me, I'm sincerely happy if it was one for you.
And while I have no doubt that 2024 is going to have ups and downs of its own, my goal is not to fixate on everything I can't change and to instead work on bettering myself, my work and doing what I can for others.
With that in mind, I have something in the works that I really want to share with you all, so look forward to that ^^
As for now, Happy New Years everyone!
saw this one review of danganronpa where they said it was bad but prefaced it by saying they didnt like the visual novel medium or anime in general. they criticized a lot of stuff with the gameplay thats. inherent to the visual novel medium? and then they talked about wacky anime tropes in the game which they were confused by bc they didn't watch a lot of anime.
like yeah you'll have to point and click until you get enough info to proceed with the story. yeah you need to backtrack through dialogue sometimes. that's what happens in visual novels. you personally don't have to understand anime tropes but you're mad that there are too many anime tropes in the "making fun of anime tropes" game?
they thought the minigames were annoying, even the stuff with truth bullets that was the defining part of the game. they thought the hope/despair theme of the games was bad, though given that they misremembered some key details of the games, it seemed like they didn't think about the story too much after finishing it lol. they said they played all three games bc they liked the character writing, but then said they hated the free time events and thought they were useless?
the reviewer had complaints about the actual writing. i agreed with most of their complaints about dr3 for example. some of their issues with the gameplay were also valid, because they impacted the creator's intended effect on the player. for example, the support characters are too hand-holdy sometimes, so you don't get to enjoy solving the case as much. and some of the minigames ARE annoying!
but anyways sometimes stuff just. isn't made for you. it's not your fault for disliking or even being annoyed by it. but it's not the creator's fault either for not catering all of their art to you in particular. a lot of this person's major problems with the franchise are that they disliked core parts of the series that made danganronpa what it was. but they presented it as if the parts they didn't like were inherent flaws with the franchise
the person was framing the review as a suggestion to the audience of whether they should get into danganronpa, and they said they didn't recommend it. there was a lot of subjective review of the story and gameplay that's fair criticism, but they mentioned their complaints about the structure of the games so much that the bad faith complaints were put on the same level as the good faith ones. i think this would mislead a lot of people into thinking the series was a lot worse than it is. and it's, frankly, a dickish move.
i know that everyone wants attention on the internet and it's really effective to have a "hot take" dunking on something popular. and honestly, danganronpa has a lot of stuff that imo is pretty bad and should be complained about. but it's not a fair criticism complain that a story wasn't fun for you after you've refused to engage with it. you're just fishing for clicks.
#shut up pandora#danganronpa#im not saying what video it was btw i dont want to start anything#but yeah its just like that one sarahz video said#the internet is great bc anyone can say anything on it#but the internet is bad bc anyone can say anything on it#and as long as the video has good editing and the person sounds authoritative#they can say any bullshit and ppl will just accept it#bc ppl are too lazy to check the thing out on their own#media criticism
Foster Parent comforting them after a nightmare
[ SCENARIO ] [ Kotoko, Nagisa, Masuru, Jataro, Monaca ] [ Danganronpa Ultra Despair Girls ]
⚠️ This contain spoilers about their backstory
They are my babies, I would give the the sun, the moon and the stars if I can ❤️ Anyways, im FINALLY writing for them again!! IM SO HAPPY!!
I don't care what people think or say, I know Monaca suffered a lot too, the fear she felt when she sees Hanji again is REAL!!
Kotoko Utsugui
Kotoko doesn't really like to talk about what happened to her, she gets pretty mad whenever someone or something reminds her about her past, and even so she prefers to act like it she doesn't mind it anymore, what happened in the past it stays on the past, and now that she has someone who cares for her why she will like to remember so disgusting things?
But as much as she tried to forget her trauma still hunt her down from time to times, that fear that exist deep inside her of one day the horrible parents she had will come for her and make her return to her old life (if she still continue going to the drama club she feels insecure about it from time to time too)
Saddly, all the feelings and fears she tries to ignore sometimes come to her as a dream, as a terrible nightmare where no matter how much she call for your name you aren't there, instead she just see her father, who with a big smile congratulate her for her amazing performance and remember her that there is something that she still have to do
Kotoko wake up all scared before something even can happen because she just couldn't handle all of that again, tears already falling from her eyes, her whole body shaking and trying to cover her body while trying to normalize her breathing
It depends on how bad her nightmare was to what she will do next, if it wasn't that bad she will try to calm down by herself, not really wanting to bother you and being anxious about going out of her room, but is more likely that at the end she goes to your room to at least sleep by your side, in the other hand if the nightmare was really bad she won't be able to calm down so she just runs to your room crying almost imediatly, also it could be that she scream while sleeping or when she wakes up what will alert you so you will be the one going to her room
Either way, Kotoko is just crying, she isn't able to explain what happened and she doesn't want to talk about it neither (she even almost scream at you if you ask her about the nightmare just because she is scare), she just want to be in your arms, she just want to know that she is with you and that you won't let those perverts touch her again, if Kotoko manage to say something will be to either ask you to please hold her or to ask you if you will let that people reach her
Kotoko doesn't want to leave your arms so you will have to hold her for a long time until she calm down, as well sweet and soft touches (such as caress her hair or back and small kisses on the forehead) and reasuring her that something like that will never happen again help her calm down faster, still it will take her some time to fall sleep again and there is no way she will do it alone
The next days Kotoko will be more quiet than usual, even a little shy with her head down, she isn't really embarrassed about waking you up is just that the nightmare really affected her, but with some time she will feel better and will go back to her normal self again
Nagisa Shingetsu
Nagisa doesn't really have problems with talking about what happened to him in the past and he even talk about like it isn't nothing or that it doesn't bother him, but in reallity all that he suffered affects him more that even he knows
Nagisa were exposed not just standards too high and a constant rejection but to the effects of drugs in order to make him work more and more, and even when he acts mature deep down he is still searching for the approval of the ones he loves and is startled by the minimum errors
For being in a house where he is appreciated by just being himself and don't ask him to be perfect or to spend all the night studing the fear of messing things up or even disappointing you hunt him from time to time (not always but it still there), so having a nightmare related to it isn't totally strange
Dreaming about his father and all that he went through it doesn't really affect him, it bothers him and it startle him, but aside from that he doesn't have much troubles with it, is dreaming about you being disappointed of him what makes him afraid, you being mad, disappointed or even calling him a failer is what makes him afraid, is that what will make him anxious, desperate trying to explain himself and apologize for his error, even promising that it isn't going to happen again and he wil make it up for it (but if you don't seem to wanting to heard him that will lead him to a panic attack)
When Nagisa is finally able to wake up he is afraid and sweating, he may even jump a little in his bed, he is so nervous that he is even disoriented, it take him a moment to start to calm down and realice that he is in his room, that everything was just a dream, even so he isn't fully calm
The last thing he wants is to bother you (specially if the nightmare really affected him), so Nagisa tries to calm down, repeating himself that everything was just a dream and that you aren't like that, you'd told him a million of times that you don't expect perfection from him
He may be able to calm down enough to try to go back to sleep once again, but if the nightmare was specially scary or it affected him a lot he won't be able so he just goes out of bed and take a walk around the house, maybe a glass of water could help him calm down. He doesn't really want to wake you up, even if he know that you won't be mad for it the memory of your bothered expression and voice of his nightmare make him anxious, he doesn't want to see it in real life
Its okay if you find him in the middle of the night in the kitchen or you see him until the morning, Nagisa doesn't really craves for direct comfort he just need the reasurance that you aren't mad or dissapointed of him, so for him is okay just continuing with your normal routine (although he will be more talktive and clingy, like quietly asking for the parental love and comfort)
He doesn't want to talk about his nightmare, so even if you insist the most you will get from him is admitting that he had a nightmare, he not just doesn't care for it but he is a little embarrassed of needing/wanting comfort, so if you try he will complain at little at first but totally accept it (specially if is a hug)
Masuru Daimon
Masuru normally don't talk about the abuse he suffered from his father mainly because he doesn't see a point on doing so, and since now he has a home and a parent that always welcome him with open arms he doesn't see why he should remember the bad past with the demons
Also, his past doesn't affect him directly, it makes him pretty aggresive from time to time but it is something he can change, he is just bother by it when he remember it but aside from that he normally just act as the energetic child he is
For Masuru to have a nightmare about his past of abuse is more likely to have been triggered by something during the day, something that had make him nervous or remember him about it. His new house is one where he is more free and appreciated, and even if he can desesperate you from time to time you never really decided to hit him, so having a nightmare where is again with the abusive father he had is pretty shocking for him and he doesn't like it, he want to be where he isn't attacked, he want to be with you so even in his nightmare he is searching for you, but you aren't anywhere, what makes him more an more desperate
When Masuru finally manage to wake up he is shaking and sweating, still it depends in how bad his dream was to how he will react, if it wasn't too bad he just wake up scare but still he will try to calm down, while if his nightmare were really bad even after waking up (probably with a little scream) he is so afraid that even will have a panic attack. But in both cases he is pretty scared and is pretty loud while trying to calm down (specially in a panic attack because he tend to self harm), so is more likely he ends up waking you up for the noises and you go to his room
When you enter in his room/knock on his door he is immediatly startled but by recognizing you his tears start to fall from his eyes because as much as he like to act all rough and brave, deep down he knows that he doesn't have to fear when he is with you, also it depend in how scared he is to his next move, either asking you what are you doing there or running to your arms, but it doesn't matter much his reaction because he wants your comfort
Is probably that Masuru start to have a panic attack, depending in how scare he was and he will try to hit himself to make him calm down unless you guide/teach him another way to be able to calm down (a less aggresive way), as well that he is able just cry into your arms depend in your relationship and how much he trust you, otherwise he will be trying to convice you that he isn't scare at all
However, not matter how much the nightmare affected him at the next morning Masuru return to his normal self and just be cheerful since the morning (but if the nightmare was really bad he will be a little startled when he does something wrong or you seem mad for a while)
Jataro Kemuri
Jataro has been treated so poorly for all his life, not just for his mother but his friends used to treat him bad too, so it take him a long time to get used to being with someone that truly cares for him and loves him just for being him
Jataro doesn't has any problem with talking about his past of abuse, although he talk about it like if it is something normal for how used he is to it, he just repeat what his mother used to tell him (especially when he start to take a liking for you because he doesn't want to hurt you with his horrendous appearance)
As he slowly start to get more used to and comfortable with your kindness towards him it will be a while where he is more nervous about making you mad, being insecure of himself thinking that he won't be enough or that he will end up making you mad (he kinda expected it as something that will obviously happen)
For him to have a nightmare related to this is more likely to be caused because something through the day trigger him and is more common to happen when he is just getting used to his new life, it could be that he is with his mother, either that thinking that being with you was all just a dream or that you had throw him with her again because you don't want him anymore, also it could be with you the dream, making you so mad that you start treating him bad like her used to do, and probably even force him to wear the mask once again or even that he end up hurting you still somehow believing what his mother used to tell him
No matter what his nightmare was about he wakes up frighten, it take him a moment to realice where he is and still his anxiety doesn't fully goes away, the more the nightmare scared and affected him the more anxious he will be, leading him to start crying for nervousness and even to compulsive scratching his arms and head
He may not be really loud but is at least enough to alert you, and the moment you approach to him (either entering on the room or knocking on the door) he is immediatly startled and just stare a moment at you trying to decipher who it is still lost in his anxiety, and when he reconize you he is mixed between wanting to be in your arms and feeling ashame of himself, so he just continue being troubled by his anxiety while saying little apologizes (but don't apologizing for something in concret)
In that moment Jataro really craves for comfort but he isn't going to really ask for it because he feels ashame, just being able to be in your soft embrace will help him start to calm down and a direct reasurance that you aren't mad at him or that you don't think of him like his mother did comfort him a lot
He isn't completely sure if he will be able to fall sleep alone again but he is willing to try just because he doesn't want to bother you, but if you don't mind he will be happy for you to stay with him until he falls sleep (and will sleep with you only if you insist)
The next day he will still be a little nervous, not wanting to bother you with his presence so he will be a little quiet for a while, until he feel completely sure that he isn't bothering you
Monaca Towa
It isn't easy for Monaca to trust in someone, she could be acting all happy and charming and even calling you her parent already but deep down she isn't fully used to his new life and even a little wary of you, is just that she goes carefuly, little by little
And as just as she doesn't fully trust you she isn't going to talk about what happened to her right away, she even cover it saying that Monaca was really loved by everyone (more specifically in her school) and that everyone wanted to be her friend, and even when she feel completely comfortable with you she doesn't know if she will tell you the truth
For her to have a nightmare related to this isn't really common, or at least no to be enough to truly frighten her, so is more likely during the day something trigger her and/or she is specially anxious. Her nightmare could vary, being about her abusive family, by just being there with them again and you were nowhere to seem, or even worst that you are the one leaving her with them or even mocking her for trusting you and starting to act like how her family used to do, ignoring her and even calling her a pest
When she finally wakes up she is really nervous and even sweating a little, her past afect her more that she likes to admit so having to re-live it as a nightmare isn't something good for her, she is looking everywhere a little disoriented and really startled by it, still it doesn't take her long to realice that she is safe in her room, the room you designed for her and she was free to decorate at her taste, just that is really comforting for her and since she doesn't really make much noises while calming down, there isn't a reason why you will know about it
However, it actually will affect her much more the nightmare if you are the one on the nightmare, she tries to make it seem like it doesn't bother her and that is nothing but it slowly make her pretty nervous and insecure, going as far as making her almost imposible to properly calm down, so is more likely that she end up going to your room and getting into your bed quietly to at least be by your side, even snuggling to you
Monaca doesn't want to talk about her nightmare nor admit that she was scared, so if you insist enough or she already trust you she may be willing to say that she had a nightmare, not really wanting to give details about it and she doesn't like to make a big deal of it neither
Monaca doesn't exactly ask for comfort but she wouldn't mind receiving it but still she prefer just doing the common things like any other day, from the outside it seems like she isn't bothered at all but deep down she is still a little nervous and will be a little wary not just of you but of her own actions, something that she does almost unconsciously, as well as insisting a little more on helping you in whatever she can or talking with you, even small chats she just need the reasurance that you still care for her
