ok so let me be cringe on main for a minute here (this is a joke btw i know cringe isn't real). odd squad mlp au for your consideration

please ask me questions about this by the way i have so much for this. i'll put some of the basic info (it's a lot more than that now but in my defense it started as a basic summary) and a few more drawings under the cut though please look at it with your eyes thank you

so for some basic explanations we have Olive who is a unicorn, Otto who is a pegasus, Olympia who is a part unicorn earth pony (which i'll explain in a sec), and Otis who is a full blooded pegasus (which i'll also explain the importance of in a moment). i haven't drawn Ms. O, Oscar or Oona yet but they are an alicorn (formerly an earth pony), a unicorn, and an earth pony respectively

Olive and Otto are the only two that i've come up with cutie mark designs for so far (they are so hard to design..) but Olympia and Otis have them too, they just get them mid-season. specifically after the talent show. i'm designing them side by side so that they kinda match because they get them at the same time and also they're besties your honor, but anyways theirs are a little fireworks design and some sort of a swan design because y'know. the ugly duckling story. and also i think part of his talent is dancing and like swan lake exists etc etc. and yes this does mean that he's a little bit scared of his own cutie mark at times but he just tries not to think about it and usually covers it with his wings anyway. all four of their cutie mark meanings are kinda abstract personality trait related things

Olive got hers after stopping the pienado because character development moments, which also kinda means that she's sorta tied to Todd because of this which she Does Not Like. i'll need to make a whole other post about Todd in this au because he's definitely a guy, but anyways while they were partners Olive was a blank flank and despite how good at his job he was Todd was one too and it was like one of the only things they really had in common, but it also ends up being one of the reasons he goes rogue because not only is Todd bored but he's also frustrated because he's tried everything he can think of and won every award he possibly can and he still doesn't have a cutie mark even though he feels like he definitely should by now because this has to be his talent. why would he be so good at it if it wasn't? he doesn't get his cutie mark until after he reforms btw, because before then he was either too certain about his talent being something else or too busy causing trouble to entertain himself that he never really took the time to stop and discover that his actual interest was gardening and that's when he finally gets his cutie mark. in my head i have this alternate version of Otis's tomato speech where when Todd is like "i'm Odd Todd it's who i am" Otis is just like "that's not what your cutie mark says" and it's very silly but anyways i'm gonna circle this back around to Olive real quick

so on top of Todd's cutie mark being in gardening he also has a sort of side meaning as well in the sense that he's a little bit like the CMC and has a sort of knack for encouraging character growth in others whether he realizes it or not because. encouraging plants to grow.. encouraging people to grow... the whole villain rehab thing...... you see what i'm getting at here. but the funny thing is the first pony he really did this to was Olive and it was completely unintentional. he didn't know that she would get her cutie mark by stopping him, at least not consciously, but she did. it probably takes him quite some time before he actually puts together the fact that he's had that talent the whole time.

Otto's cutie mark is a lot sillier. he actually doesn't know how he got it or what it means (as mentioned earlier it's symbolic but he doesn't know that. also shoutout to Shroom aka Evillandscaper for suggesting a paper crane because i did NOT know what i was gonna make it) he just kinda walked into work one day and Olive was like "oh cool you got your cutie mark?" and Otto was just like "WAIT I GOT MY CUTIE MARK?????" cue a whole silly filler episode involving the two of them trying to figure out what it means and also Olive having a crisis over the fact that Otto can do that pegasus thing where they use their wings like cartoon hands. both of these become running bits from then on. also i drew this comic about it and it might be one of my favorite things i've made for this au honestly

and on the topic of cutie marks as i previously mentioned, Olympia and Otis both get theirs after the talent show and they're also matching a little bit. theirs are also personality things but in addition to that Otis's is also for dancing and Olympia's is for magic, and you may be wondering how an earth pony can be a magic talent and this is where that half unicorn thing comes in!

so Olympia is half unicorn half earth pony which i don't think is too uncommon on its own, but the thing that makes her weird is that she inherited traits from both sides instead of just one over the other, so she actually has unicorn magic but no horn to actually use it with so she's unable to cast actual spells or anything but her magic will kinda spill over at times, especially if she's emotional, and cause things to happen like that one time she exploded into glitter when interviewing Olive or of course the fireworks! she's kind of like the Pinkie Pie character who just does unexplained things sometimes she's just very silly. fun fact in her ref you can see that her mane and tail are sparkly and that's because they kinda just perpetually look like they have glitter in them, but the thing is it's not really glitter it's all just magic. i imagine her coat is like this as well but i just didn't draw it in

also as a side note it came to my attention that she bears an uncanny similarity to Sparkleworks from G3 and i have absolutely no idea how that happened At All. like they have the same cutie mark and everything it's so weird. i've never even watched G3 i'm a G4 kid i legitimately have no clue how the hell this happened. i did make this out of it though

anyways for Otis, he's a pegasus of course but he's specifically a Cloudsdale weather pegasus, which yes i did make up but hear me out. so basically in my mind pegasi born in somewhere like Cloudsdale are more likely to have weather talents or like. stronger abilities in controlling the weather and such, which means stuff like larger wings and weatherproof wings and feathers to make it easier to deal with storms and stuff like that, so basically all this is just an excuse for me to give Otis waterproof feathers like a duck. but anyways since he was still raised by the ducks he doesn't actually know he's from Cloudsdale or anything so he just thinks he's weird for the feathers thing

I have HC from 2002 until now hahaha--Here's a few sonic/shadow specific things that might be interesting?

I combine details from the Archie comics and Sonic X and mix them with the main lore from the games btw.

-Sonic ghost writes/secretly produces a lot music in response to the things in his life. "Live and Learn" was his direct response to shadow's presumed death.

-Shadow and maria are like siblings in my AU, but his relationship with her and Gerald would shape what he expects from relationships in his life, in the same way your parental relationships would shape your expectations for men and women.

-On the ARK, the scientists grew very fond of shadow, often petting him or scratching his ears. Maria would often fluff up his fur, like you would a dog's cheeks. He now understands this kind of affection is more of a human-pet thing and it's kinda inappropriate as an adult... but he misses it.

-Sonic jokes that shadow is like a dog a lot, because he likes being pet and laying on sonic's stomach...and one other reason.

-Sonic isn't as aloof as he seems and he knows how to read the room, and shadow. He once heard that shadow liked Doritos, so he got him a value box of all the flavors and left it at his house without telling him and never mentioned it, so shadow isn't sure if it's even from him.

-Shadow and Omega are like brothers, with Omega often trying to out do or impress him. Sometimes Shadow gets too competitive and they fight, with topaz having to break them up...Rouge just laughs and watches the carnage.

Some deeper stuff:

-It's hard for sonic to truly hate someone or refuse to help them, which has become a big struggle with people around him...and himself. He is certainly a redemption-oriented person and gives people a choice to be his enemy each time they interact, rather than label them as such.

During the Doom situation, sonic wasn't afraid of being killed by shadow, rather, he was afraid of shadow doing something he didn't want to do.

-Sonic doesn't believe that life has purpose or reason, instead he thinks people should find their own meaning and value. "It doesnt matter". He lives in the moment and enjoys as much out of it as he can, because he knows he could die any day.

-Shadow is horrified by the idea of life being meaningless and struggles to see how sonic can have a fruitful life feeling this way. The concept fills shadow with dread and gives him an existential crisis...He struggles with the idea of possible immortality because it means anything he gains will one day vanish, just as before.

Sonic thinks shadow should live the same as him because he'll outlive it. He wonders if shadow should document everything as a way to appropriate it...

A big part of sonadow for me is how they learn that different people need different things. Shadow doesnt want freedom in the same way that sonic does..

and at first toji feels kinda Threatened by this pretty boy bc ???? whyyyy is he interrupting my precious cleaning time. is he trying to supervise me? show off his fancy degrees??? …. reader has the fattest crush on him but toji genuinely doesn’t realize bc he’s wired to always mistrust others :// meanwhile reader is watching him clean internally going what the fuck what the fuckkk why is he wearing a compression shirt it’s literally fucking freezing??? is he teasing me???? does he know?????? they’re both losers actually. big romcom vibes

I think that they're neat

only for like Canon Remus though i haven't seen much of this Alpha dude one because i don't really read Marauders fic much unless it's time travel but a lot of the appeal to me personally in this ship is how much of a sopping wet cat Remus is

it's another one of those Give Percy a Loser Boyfriend ships to me

(and i mean that as a positive btw like Stercy and Flintley fall into that category too for me)

I'm in the minority here and i know it but i'm a sucker for Teacher/Student and Remus is one of the few teachers I would find fun paired with Percy even though i don't think anything would actually happen in that year without a strong push from like a potion/spell accident but still

I don't know much on how well they would like last in like a normal scenario because of them having alot of like differences in like ideology as well as the general Remus likes to push people away thing because he sees himself as a monster

there is a difference in their individual opinions on Dumbledore which i do think would cause some tension

I also don't think Percy is as the ends justify the means as Remus is not that he isn't at all just he's not at all

my personal favorite way to pair them is actually in a soulmate au because I just find it the most interesting and dont think Percy would stick around to someone trying so hard to push him away unless there was something tangible holding them together

like i love the concept of Remus finding out way before Percy (think like a first sight one where it happened while Percy was too young to actually have memories of it) and Remus doing his whole "oh woe is me they are better off without me" routine while Percy on the other hand is convinced he doesn't have one at all and that kinda breaks his romantic little heart a bit because I do think he would hate to not have one especially if this an AU where even Charlie had one (its a platonic one) to him it would mark Percy as other even more then he already feels he is

Even better if Molly and Arthur are in on the ruse because they agree with Remus about it being better if Percy wasn't tied to him because I can see Molly specifically agreeing with that and doing that because she honestly 100% thinks its best for him.

I’m new to your ~lore~ and I noticed you like talking about your characters (which is vvv cute btw!) so I was wondering what are some complications that pretty and Chris face within the relation?? Since she’s human? This is my first werewolf au so bare with me but when I started it I thought “they’re never gonna have sex” bc I thought it’d be too… difficult for the human.. but yeah that’s just a example I also mean non sexual stuff if there is any!! Mwah

warms my heart that you think it's cute and not annoying as hell sidfnsikjdfn i can imagine it might be for some people.

i really do love talking about these things! so much so, i'm gonna have to put a cut here because damn, this got a bit long.

so, here's what i think:

when it comes to complications in a werewolf x human relationship like pretty and chris'... in their case specifically, the mechanics of sex isn't a problem. their bodies are highly compatible. what could potentially be a problem would be chris' supernatural strength. he definitely could hurt pretty if he let's go of himself a bit too much, but i think that on a subconscious level he's so attuned to her it's very unlikely that something like that could happen.

i feel like the biggest problems could come more in the emotional/social department. the pace at which werewolf x werewolf relationships develop isn't the same as it'd be in a werewolf x human one. chris was ready for anything almost as soon as they got together, i'm pretty sure. marriage, mating, puppies, anything. he was absolutely ready to settle down because that's just how werewolves are. 0 chill when it comes to these things. whereas pretty is just a human. we're more complex in that department, i fear.

so at the beginning of their relationship he was probably restraining himself a lot (we've seen it in some drabbles and such. like the mirror one... man was going through it).

then there's also the fact that, as an alpha werewolf (and THE alpha of the pack), there's this unspoken thing that what he says is gospel (even when he tries his best to not fall too much into this dynamic). even though pretty is a member of the pack and is affected by his status to some degree, her being human means there's more mental resistance when it comes to any "order" he might give that she disagrees with. if they don't communicate well, their arguments could be monumental (kinda like what happened in afraid to lose you).

oh, and his possessiveness... that could also get pretty complicated (not to say toxic) if he doesn't make the conscious effort to not let it get the best of him. pretty would also have to learn to understand these things, some times he might get very uncomfortable if she's too close to another male/alpha or he might want her to do things a certain way. just like chris tries his best to be rational, pretty also tries her best to accommodate his instinctual needs (within her boundaries, of course). again, communication is key.

there's probably also the whole societal thing when it comes to a hybrid relationship like this one. some werewolves would probably think chris is crazy for "lowering" his standards like this (their words, not mine!) instead of finding himself a pliant omega to mate with. this is something we know affects pretty to some level, making her insecure that she might not be enough and such. but chris couldn't care less, honestly. that's his prettiest, she's perfect as is.

Some more (supposedly unpopular) thoughts on Zuko's image in atla

'cause apparently that's what I think about these days, geez

Okay, so, I'm not a great expert in style or character design or anything obviously, but I have some general theoretical ideas about it.

Here they are, basically:

1) In practice, attempts to "soften severe features" with, well, soft decorations more often than not make potentially attractive people to look just meh;

2) When you can't hide some feature, it makes more sense to incorporate it as an organic part of your overall image (yes, Zuko's scar, I'm talking about you);

3) Good man doesn't necessary have to look all soft and fluffy to remain a good man. If softness of decoration collides with character's constitution, it makes the audience more emotionally confused than anything, even if just subconsciously (e.g., thoughts like "So, he's a good guy now, but I am less attracted to him than before. Does it mean that I find good guys less hot in general?". ... Yes, it was surprisingly specific. And no, I'm not gonna elaborate.)

If we go all back to beginning though, originally, 13-year-old Zuko's elegant facial features allowed him to go in many different directions with his style.

... That's until Ozai made this choice for him permanently, oh dear that's the one way to put it.

Actually, Zuko was kinda lucky with his scar's shape (considering all the possible alternatives): it ended up looking more like a warpaint or a Bowie-like face decoration than a disfigurement it is wow, almost as if it was specifically designed by professionals with this exact tought in mind lol. And while I totally understand the human in-character desire to hide it behind hair, from the stylistic point of view, that's exactly what Zuko shouldn't do. With such a face, all attempts to avoid people's attention will only lead to the opposite effect.

Also, to hide the scar behind some fringes means to hide Zuko's overall striking features as well, which is a freaking crime against aestetics, if you ask me. His face bears so much more potential than that.

So, what I'm trying to say is this: paradoxically, Zuko manages to look good (yes, good) with supposedly "awful" season 1 haircut, and just meh with supposedly "sexy" season 3 haircut. Because "awful" haircut, while pretty eccentric, opens his features, turns the scar from a weakness into a strengh, and hence translates more character in a harmonic way, apparently.

While later-season-3 Zuko doesn't exactly look bad either (which is especially true when animators make a deliberate effort to depict him extra pretty for dramatic scenes lol I'm not blind guys), he mostly looks... unimpressive? Actually, more often than not he reminds me of a shaggy puppy that just made a puddle nearby, lol. Alternatively, he looks like some simple guy next door - kinda cute then a light hits right, but nothing special. And although I can understand the general thought behind this choice (symbolic humbling as well as he-needs-his-hair-to-wear-the-crown-in-universe-logical), "cute simple guy" is exactly what Zuko isn't. And no, bryke, he's not an emo boy either. He can be awkward turtleduck sometimes, yes, but never someone ordinary. His whole appearance was initially created with this idea in mind.

So, "Bad prince with awful haircut" vs "Good prince with sexy haircut" lens helps to keep things in simple boxes, of course, but there's so much more nuance to Zuko's appearance than that, for better or for worse.

(Btw... Am I the only person who remembers what Katara canonically kinda defended Zuko's ponytail to Sokka? And they were enemies back then! I mean, you may think she has a bad taste if you like, but the fact remains).

... Lee-the-refugee-before-the-Jasmine-Dragon haircut is my fav though. But just like all the good things in Zuko's life, it couldn't last long, could it? (Ouch, negligent shagginess looks nice on Jet, but it doesn't do many favors for Zuko's high-contrast aristocratic beauty. I kinda hated it, honestly.)

Alrighty! 1: OTP This is honestly a tricky one for both men, and people may be surprised by the answer. Who I pair Antonio with may change later since I still need to read the Manga, but I do picture him as having a 'buried so deep he doesn't acknowledge it' crush on Kotetsu and used to have one on Tomoe as well but of course kept his lips shut (which also answers the OT3 question for him as well haha). With *just* the anime taken into account, his crush on Agnes isn't belivable, you 100% need supplementary material to even have his 'I'm trying to get *Agnes* a gift' thing at the end of S2 come across as believable and not just a cheap expectation divergence for the sake of it. So right now it's kind of, no OTP for him, but Antonio/Kotetsu is crammed into a little box in the corner in my head. As for Ryan, I don't ship him with anyone too strongly bc the only 'older' (aka mid 30s at youngest in my head) women in the show are Agnes and Nathan, and whilst either could be interesting in theory I don't think it would work out for either of them lol. I'm a Ryan Milf Hunter truther, meaning I don't ship him with Karina at all. Like, I dunno man, him flirting with her mother right in front of her is kinda sending clear signals to me. Someone please write Golden Ryan x MILF!Reader fics I think that would be funny.

3: NoTP This one is also tricky. I classify a NOTP as something that is able to render me physically uncomfortable if discussed, which aside from some generally obvious child / adult ships and similar ships in here, I don't think I have that reaction to anything. Closest is for Antonio is that I think Ivan is allowed to have a crush on him but Antonio would like, nephew-zone him, much like how Kotetsu has niece-zoned Karina at least twice now. And similarly while not exactly an NOTP for Ryan, I again just don't see him with Karina, she's not in the age bracket he's interested in; too young.

12: Funniest/Craziest AU? Honestly there's not a lot of AUs I can think of that revolve specifically around a character. Antonio has a bit of a sad one I have saved for him so it's not applicable here, but for Ryan I *did* write a fic where he and Ivan go to the beach bc he wants to help Ivan 'hunt for babes', that was pretty fun to write. Molly comes with, btw. But I don't consider that an AU bc I tried to keep it canon compliant, so...yeah, don't have much for ryan, at the moment.

22: Give us a HC Antonio - He's secretly semi-fluent in Japanese because he wanted to learn due to being friends with Kotetsu and Tomoe and wanting to communicate with them in private when in public (at least when in Sternbild). Ryan - Everyone seems to make fun of just how *fake* of a shade of yellow his hair is, but it's also very hard to get it to that colour if your hair is naturally dark (everyone remember Morita's The Live Incident? Bleached his hair so hard by best he could achieve was some cherry red-brown). Naturally, Ryan is a Platinum Blond like Ivan is, but with the colour being so un-vibrant combined with Ryan's desire to stand out, he dyes it a horrific yellow.

23: Has Fav ship changed overtime? Across all fandoms and my time being alive, certainly. As a young kid I got into Avatar, as one does, and something both outright turned me off from Katara with Aang and hooked me on Katara with Zuko. I don't know, I think it's just a difference of how chemistry can be forced in terms of writing. Tunnel of Love is the bane of like 8yo me's existence is all i'm gonna say.

Next I moved onto sonic and oh man there were so many goddamn ships. Sticking strictly to Canon on Canon, I think my first fav sonic ship was Tails and Cream, and currently it's Sonic with either Blaze or Knuckles (though for Sonaze specifically I view it as starcrossed and I do have a fic idea on exploring that *evil laughs*). If anyone wants a thicker rundown of the sonic ship timeline feel free to ask for 23 again and state sonic only lolll

Then I caved into despair like lord Enoshima would have wanted and got a double whammy of Hetalia and Danganronpa around the same timeframe. For Hetalia, you can rip the old bickering married couple of France and England from my cold dead hands, and then I had several for Danganronpa but the one I think I championed for the hardest out of sheer 'it's getting drowned out by the less interesting shit' was Shuichi x Kaito. Like, my guys, Shuichi catches HIS GAY THOUGHTS ON KAITO IN THE MIDDLE OF AN FTE. I genuinely don't know how other ships have stronger bases bc of that one moment. But also, that would require the DR fandom to know how to read, so (/j).

And then came Persona 5. So many good ships in here, I still adore stuff like Joker with both Yusuke and Ryuji, and I also got a soft spot for Ryuji with Yusuke or Haru. (In fact I have an AU fic I promise I havent abandoned abt Ryukita. The two men are early 20s in the fic with jobs and Ryuji is even a single father.)

With Fizz it's,,, a bit Fuzzy, because hilariously he's the whole reason I made this AU among other things But I ended up makinh him a sorta side character antag again because while originally he was going to be part of the main crew from the start of HT's storyline, as I went along in trying to write I saw some cool hcs about his star clown days and so I thought to use the more canonized view- mostly in that he's a star clown during the events of HT instead of dropping the show life to join Blitz in I.M.P. That previous version is why you see him in the I.M.P references- and hinty hoo that ol version isnt completely null and voice to the current HT

ANYWAY so yeah- While Fizz isn't as much a main character as he was he still has a great deal of importance to the story and themes I want to express in HT. When it comes to him and the Troupe itself, I could best describe him as one of the biggest foils or parallels to the main cast. Just,, he's this golden image that represents their every want fulfilled. For Blitz especially given their thick history heehooo. (That's not to say this 'golden image' is entirely as it seems btw...)

Now it sounds much like canon I know but I like to think I'm taking a different direction with it- It's not really just the "haha you suck with relationships, fuck, shit, pénis im doing better look at my good relationship" nonsense cuz for 1. Fizzarozzie does nOT exist anymore- its Mamzie now 😊 (Mammon + Ozzie) and 2. The themes with Fizz and really most of HT has less to do with the melodramatic romance "will they wont they" of Stolitz (which isnt really a thing either) and more the struggle impoverished and oppressed peoples experience with success, failure, identity, community, family, status, history, trauma, etccc. Specifically, because I am an indigenous person from Canada, a lot of the themes are drawn from my own experiences, knowledge and history as an indigenous person. Though with execution, creative liberties were taken to make the fact they're in Hell clear btww-

ANYHOOT ONTO STOLAS! i rambled a bit too much about Fizz cuz im still figuring him out- Stolas might be a bit shorter cuz his role is sweet and simplisticerr.

So, Stolas is an antagonist. He and Blitz still have an exchange sort of deal, but the deal is Blitz gets to keep the grimoire for I.M.P if he handles Stolas' "errands" and gives it back on the full moon with ofc none of the uh,,hawny stuff, obv. Blitz kinda keeps this deal under wraps from the rest of I.M.P because for him, it hurts his pride to admit he's in need of some big guy's help. And Stolas is somewhat aware of this. And so, Stolas is this looming, cruel threat that Blitz carries the burden of cuz he's stubborn as fuck whilst the rest of I.M.P remain ignorant.

Some bonus notes that dont really have to do with Stolas involvement with imp but jus how stuff ive changed with his canon influence the story diff than canon; so, Stella isnt a thing anymore. In general the Goetia work much differently- majority of the Goetia being the children of Ozzie instead of Paimon (who is Stolas' sibling now btw too) and the Goetia being thousands of years old instead of fucking 30- Also! While Via is existant she is but a baby instead of a moody teen,, ties heavily with Stolas' motives and how he operates as a character, royal, and Goetian and felt it would work better with how HT Stolas is as a character than it would otherwise.

Right now I'm working on a really long fic, and by "really long" I mean this is the outline so far

It's an au/canon rewrite where, like Joshua, Sho could see the UG while he was alive! The first half follows him from childhood where he's this cheerful, adventurous, but somewhat sensitive little kid who's ostracized by his peers for his "strange" behavior, talking or reacting to things that seemingly aren't there, telling wild, elaborate stories about strange wolves and bears and even elephants that roam the city, boasting about this to everyone he meets and not understanding why they start to look at him oddly afterwards. In a way, the UG functions as a metaphor for (specifically undiagnosed) neurodivergencey. It's this big, omnipresent thing that Sho can't understand and which isolates him from the people around him. There's no one in his life who knows what he's going through, no one he can confide in who wouldn't just call him crazy.

Until the day he bumps into a Reaper. He takes pity on the poor kid, and tells him a censored version of what's happening. It's enough to reassure him that he isn't crazy...and to stoke his curiosity. The Reaper tells him that he'll be watching. He's a stargazer, and likes to keep an eye on the stars that shine the brightest.

Basically it explores how Sho might've become the person he is in canon and then carries on through to neo where I can finally fulfil my year long dream of giving him the redemption arc I was so convinced was gonna happen the first time I played it. I've been plotting this thing out since last year when I finished my first playthrough of neo and now I'm hoping to be able to start writing it sometime in May! It's a bit of an ambitious project, but I've written long projects before back when I had chronic eye pain and could only write 1-2 hours on a good day. In comparison this'll be a cakewalk! I think.

Do you have like a mental fix-it AU where Solas and your Inquisitor get back together or are you happy with the tragedy that is canon?

the thing is that the Solas romance isn't over yet because we left this specific plotthread on a cliffhanger in DAI. The announcement that Solas is a Major Character in Veilguard (which was named after him to start with before the name was switched to Veilguard), and the confirmation that the Inquisitor will have a relevent part to play (and the devs all being Solavellan fans), and of course the fact da4's protag is hired by the inquisition AND will have a deep connection with Solas mean we're all kinda waiting to see where it's going.

so the thing is that... it's not over. It's not the end of their story. And it's very difficult to know what type of ending i can be wishing for when an answer will release in about 23 days yaknow?

Like. DAI is built around this idea: Solas tried to fix his mistake, didn't foresee something going wrong and the way it put the inquisitor in the middle of this mess, then joined the Inquisition by half-lying about his intentions to help save the world from what went wrong while trying to fix his mistake.

After a major questline, no matter your disposition with Solas, Solas makes clear he doesn't know what he should do: should he give up, or should he try to keep saving the world? From the mistake he has made in the past that people don't even remember, but that is currently causing all sort of troubles people just accept without realizing it's all linked?

You can either reply that you don't want to focus on it and/or that you would give up and he'd disapprove so bad he'd be convinced otherwise, or you tell him you'd try to fix things and it encourages him to continue his quest.

In the Romance we also know for a fact that he thought about giving up, but after he tells his beloved about the Vallaslin, he's reminded just how much of the struggle the elves still accept as this world is falling apart, and he just... can't give up on them, can't give up on you. So he breaks up. So he focus on his plan, determined to fix things.

To me, Solas' determination to fix things is essential to his character and also on the romance. The tragedy of having to choose between his sworn duty as the one who has led the world to a catastrophic apocalypse and is now slowly but surely leading the world through another if he doesn't do anything to stop it-- and the woman he loves. Knowing also that whatever he picks, he is immortal, and she isn't (because of his mistakes, btw!) (also why Hand of Sorrow by Within Temptation is in my Solavellan playlist)

And DAI left on Solas deciding to commit to his plan, and push his beloved away because "The path i walk is one of death - i cannot let you see what i will become."

To me it's essential to the pathos of the story that Solas is convinced he has to be the one to fix it, and i think his determination to do it alone is such an important character trait that i wouldn't override it right away.

But the DAI romance ends on the Inquisitor promising she'll save Solas from himself and will redeem him, and that "our love will endure", to which Solas replies "i wish it could", implying he doesn't believe it -- yet the epilogue states that while Solas has been slowly building up his plan, he has been visiting his beloved in her dreams, always at a distance, always disappearing when she reaches out.

So to me this is where i've left their plot for years. We didn't know details of the Veilguard until a few months ago, except for books and comics showing Solas is doing more and more dangerous, criminal things, to get his way, while also regretting he can't properly face the Inquisitor about it. We know also that he has been expressing a lot of regrets about how things should, could have gone.

(Not to mention, and it's important, that the whole way his first plan went wrong in DAI doomed the woman he loves to being worshipped (derogatory) and therefore scrutinized and crumbling under the pressure of expectation, and also gave her a power that slowly killed her and that by the end of DAI, led to her losing her arm. As a Dalish also, just being involved in this first plan lead to you learning so much about the Elves' past that you can never go back to the life you used to have. Basically he is aware he ruined your life before you even met him -- and that there is nothing that can be fixed about it.)

So, for years, personally, i've just been imagining follow ups to this. For years i mostly imagined their meetings in dreams-- wandering into her past, sometimes learning more about her, sometimes her being aware she can't reach him by running at him so she tries to shape her dreams to have him talk to her.

Of course one of the easiest fix it would be for him to give up on his plan and/or on his immortality (however it would be possible), but to me both of those are rather unsatisfying especially considering what's at stake. Just going "screw it" and give up everything would be a shame.

Especially since personally, while i don't like the idea of the death and gloom that Solas is bringing as his only path ahead, i do think taking out the Veil sooner than later is for the best, because if left in the current situation, we're screwed.

(and to be more "personal hc" about it, it wouldn't fit my girl either. She has always been so set in making things right, how can she, in good conscience, just tell him to give up?)

My personal wish is to find an alternative. Another path forward. I want her to convince him that there is another way if only he wouldn't believe he is the only one who can fix it. To give them a chance to work together for a better result. That things must be different enough from the way back that there is another way. But as of now i didn't have anything precise in head.

The saddest possible best ending would be if Solas would have won and everyone died, but the implication that in the Fade spirit can reincarnate though they won't remember anything about the past, maybe they could meet in another life. But it's not my idea of a best fix it ending.

Of course, Veilguard's plot ended up just setting my brain aflame. Now Solas is not in any situations where he can do it alone anymore. Now there is a new threat to the Veil that Solas hasn't prepared for. Now things may totally be different.

My dream ending is the Veil comes down without all the massive death that comes with it and the two of them can meet again together. Even if she doesn't regain immortality, even if they're doomed just on that, now they did their part, they did their duty, they can rest now that the world is safe, they can be more selfish.

But before that i want them to reconnect, and work together for it. I want Solas to learn to stop pushing people away.

As for my Lavellan in particular, she loves history, is fascinated by the Fade and magic -- and is serious on her duty to save the world as well. I built her to mirror a bit of Solas, but in a specific way where, where Solas learnt he had to isolate himself from the Inquisition, she learnt that she is happier and more efficient now that she learnt to rely on others, and she doesn't want to leave Solas alone in this isolationist misery she knows so well. And she wouldn't be satisfied if Solas would need to give up everything he stands for, while also dooming the world once more, only for this to happen. She wants it to be done right.

Anyway i'm babbling but. man.

I guess the conclusion is that i don't specifically have a happy fix it because i don't have anything to fix right now -- their story isn't over, and as long as it isn't, it's a work in progress. I cannot fix what isn't broken, only unfinished. I just can imagine the end of what's ahead of me and hope they'll be happy in the end.

Maybe AFTER Veilguard i'll need a Fix it--

I can only go maybe 40 to 60 on it before I start panicking and sometimes lose control of just that vehicle... like panicking as I realize how fast I was going and that I was slightly going to the side... likely I had my grandpa with me. Also sometimes I answer asks via my notifications so I may accidentally forget to answer them as the notifications won't tell me if I pressed them versus looking at them and reloading the screen. And sometimes I do know my tumblr glitches and doesn't give me the notification until the next day/next time I turn either tumblr off or my phone.

At least for main, usually it does better for my other blogs... sometimes it doesn't even give me a notification too which is weird. I try looking at my asks tho as much as possible but I had one inbox try glitching... said I had two asks yet only showed one and I didn't see one in the drafts and I know I answered the rest so I may have to restart my phone soon or go ask hunting of it doesn't get fixed soon.

oc (insert matpat saying lore): tomei: so tomei was originally meant to be a voodoo doll that maddie made because she was getting buliied at school, they actually looked a lot different but didn't want to be a voodoo doll to they changed their appearance, first they had long brunette hair, a blue sun dress and green button eyes, then after learning they are a voodoo doll changed the way they looked to now.

teddison: so i pretty much went "hmmm, what if the thing (horror movie) and happy tree friends combined?" and this thing was born, so it's an alien disguised as a teddy bear, the circles on his cheeks are actually two of it's eyes (yes it has more, 8 to be exact) the star is the mouth kinda like the demogorgon from stranger things but really colourful, but the stripped thingeys coming from his tail are his tongue, and the hand is, well his hand, also he likes buttons, his name was actually gonna be buttons.

benny & darayavaush: they're twins that are pretty much the manifestation of maddie's siblings, maxx (girl btw)& jan, who are twins, also by the "manifestation" i mean maddie's like 6 and tried drawing them w/ two colours, also yes darayavaush has braces, benny's actually blind but ✨Lasik✨

BoB: imagine that one plush you had as a little kid got possessed by some other dead child (man maybe i should stop watching FNAF timeline vids, it's starting to seep into my OCs) that's pretty much what BoB is (and yes the two capital Bs are necessary) BoB is just the soul of a german victorian child the died in a house fire caused my his father's mistress (ya'll that doctor phil family problems were bad) also because we're talking about a victorian child BoB nearly had a fvcking stroke after eating a hershey's kiss, so now he really likes chocolate.

🌧️(thought i was joking when i said this was his name): so 🌧️ is kinda like teddison (btw if you're confused on what to call him his friends call him cloudy or rain cloud) like he's an alien but unlike teddison 🌧️ can't shape-shift so what 🌧️ is is a red blob with two dot eyes (if you look right above his fake eye's you'll see them) and his mouth is on his stomach like a stingray, because of 🌧️'s lack of the ability to shape-shift he drew some eyes, cut them out, super glued them under his own, and drew a smile with a green sharpie, and yes those blue noodles on his side are his actual hands, he also really likes taylor swift.

Maddie: maddie's just a 6 y/o child whose mother keeps trying to make wear an ungodly amount of pink, not the good shades either like dusty rose or baker-miller, like neon magenta and nothing else, you can see she's very upset that her voodoo didn't work, also that granny yellow & white garment she's wearing is literally the only thing she's has that isn't bright magenta, also i know yall probably don't care but she's ✨asian✨ specifically Chinese (which means imma have to do so much research on chinese culture if i ever post her again cause i'm fvcking hispanic and literally don't know a single chinese person), also, she does like ✨cooking tree✨ (btw if u don't know what that is it's a youtuber).

some stuff i have in mind about the au skemon and pumpculi are like skid and pump, but less innocent. pumpculi knows.. a LOT of strange things. nobody seems to tell him these things, he just kinda KNOWS, like they get transmitted to his head somehow. and that along with skemon literally being from HELL, it means these 2 KNOW what they're doing is bad, they just don't give a crap. skemon was RAISED to do bad, and pumpculi's being raised to think that everyone who isn't his friend is wrong in the head and thus he can do what he wants with them. so not only do they not care, but they're also down for even CRAZIER attrocities than skid and pump do! like these fellas wouldnt burn the dolls in the mall, theyd burn the MALL. there's this specific group of older kids they like to mess with. these 3 are pretty funny to mess with and their reactions are hilarious. and then there's also some guy that they threaten for candy from time to time, hes pretty funny too! unlike pump, who doesnt really HAVE parental guidance, pumpculi has an entire CULT acting as his parental support. not because any of them ARE actually his parents, he doesnt seem to HAVE any biological parents; he sees the cult as moreso just friends. really caring friends who are willing to give up their all just to help him with something. they're very nice to him, and he's nice back! and they basically let him do whatever and go wherever he wants! though he always has to be careful outside; his friends don't want him seen by the public yet. the cult also doesnt entirely like demons. they think demons are nuisances, which means pumpculi has to hide skemon from them. not that they wouldnt understand that skemon is his friend too, he just THINKS they wouldnt due to how they treat the other demon-looking one in the friend group, bob. bob is the only one who knows skemon exists. but he's actually fond of skemon, he treats em like the cool family pet, he's basically skemon's less-parental lila ...btw pumpculi is a pun on pumpkin and oculi, which is latin for eyeballs :>

A spooky month AU idea. A young demon doesn't like his life in Hell. With the only parent he has being fixated on forcing him into the ONE thing he doesn't like to do(that being eating children), the little one decides to venture to the surface in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, there's something BETTER to do. ...Only to get lost. He lives on the surface now, forced to fend for himself. Possessing the empty skeleton costume of a long-gone child, and making it more.. unique, to fit his own looks. And then the child's greiving mother finds him. So in a fit of panic, he ends up almost KILLING her before running off to find somewhere to hide. And eventually, he settles on the farthest building away from the rest. An old, abandoned mansion. Tons of room, tons of rats and spiders to eat, and absolutely NO people! ...Or that's what he thinks. But during his exploration of the place, he runs into someone. Or, something. Something that he's rather terrified of at first. And honestly, it's hard to blame the little guy when the thing is as abnornal as it is. Tentacles, WAAY more eyes than it should have, sharp dagger-like teeth stuck in an empty smile, and a head in somewhat the shape of a pumpkin, complete with a crystal stuck into it's head to look like a stem. It just stares at him. With those big old eyes. ...But all it wants is a friend! And as time goes on, the two would surely bond! the au would be called "The Month Of Fear". the little demon doesnt trust a single creature with his name, and the pumpkin-like monstrosity's name is incomprehensible to the human tongue. so, the 2 would address each other by nicknames. the demon would be nicknamed "skemon", and the creature would be nicknamed "pumpculi".
