Since we're sharing youtube comments, I wanted to share this underrated one

#watcher #watcher entertainment #disappointed but not completely surprised #i haven't watched them in a hot minute and i think this situation made me realize why #all the content is too perfect now. maybe even slightly too long. i say this as someone who loves long videos #i watch retrospectives on shows ive never seen or actively dislike and love every moment of it #but sitting with the silenced of ghost files is just boring now. which i hate to say but it is #there hasn't been any really funny bits in a while either. and the jokes that they do on the set feel not super authentic #that's just me though #im worried they made a bad business decision and it's gonna hurt them. and the situation isn't super serious so i enjoy laughing about it #i really think i was into watcher for a hot minute but sometimes it feels like im slogging through a video just to get a glimmer of #what i used to love #which is super depressing xD

one thing about my steadfast belief in the beautiful inevitably of mc5 is it will remain unwavering because i have been through harder times. i was a believer when no one had faith (2020)

#its so weird how many people it seems are new and therefore were not around #for the deep well of cynicism which existed before the tour started #like it was a sharp outlier to not be fatalistic that the reunion was 'selling out' and would not be satisfying #i personally felt like i was in the trenches like. we have every reason to believe this will actually be good did you also watch a summonin #legit insane retrospectively bc now people are on the dash regularly saying it was life changing nd ncredible and the best they ever sounde #lmao it is just personally v funny. im glad it worked out! its the best case scenario! but i feel like perhaps we could all learn smthing..#(the virtues of patience and low level trust in the creative endeavors of people whove proven to be thoughtful)#my posts

by the way i've been going through rtd's non-doctor-who work and the first thing i watched was queer as folk and i have to say. there's a lot going on in that show but my main takeaway is "it's extremely obvious that the guy writing this really wants to write doctor who." there are ten episodes and of those i believe seven mention doctor who in some capacity. the theme starts playing in the middle of gay sex. k-9 is there. the character responsible for most of these references breaks up with his boyfriend because the boyfriend can't name all the doctors. at the end he has a couple lines where i was like "wow this sounds like something the doctor would say" and then the next lines out of his mouth were about doctor who. all of this is retroactively much funnier now that rtd kickstarted a 20+-year-long reboot for the show

#doctor who #like the show itself is not all that similar to doctor who beyond like. rtd having a pretty clear voice as a writer #like the characters aren't similar the plots aren't similar it's a totally different genre #and like. ostensibly doctor who comes up so much because one particular character is a fan #but like. you can *tell* that it's coming from a place of appreciation and knowledge on the writer's part #i don't know. if i'd been an adult in 2004 and i'd seen queer as folk and then heard that that guy was going to be writing doctor who.#well i simply would not have been surprised.#i would've been like. yeah good for that guy. proud of him.#(i also found an interview with rtd from like. 2000. where he was like 'yeah i was going to do doctor who but then someone new came in so #that's probably not happening anymore :/' and again. very funny to read in retrospect)#anyway. the funniest reference was the theme playing mid-gay-sex because for half a second i thought i was watching the wrong show #and it had gone to the opening credits #also i need to find out if they used the original k-9 prop because i think that would be EXTREMELY funny

Are people really not over YouTube drama?

#the amount of people who are doing not just modern coverage but retrospectives #of controversial creators that nobody has stopped talking about in the last 5 years #and it's also worth noting how many people become significantly more famous because of masses of deep dives made on them #like don't even tell me i knew who creepshow art was because i certainly didn't #i admittedly did watch hours worth of videos on her that i can't get back and after all that maybe i'd have been happier not to know #and i don't know who dr disrespect is i don't know who mamamax and twomad are i haven't watched any videos on them #because eventually it occurred to me that whether or not i watch all these videos on people i don't know jack about #it will not make any difference if i know what they're being exposed for #because i did not enable their misdeeds if i never remotely had any idea who they were #covering every move that shane dawson or colleen ballinger make is not holding them accountable #you're exploiting the headaches that these people give by advertising their boring ass content every time they put something out #and i say all of this as someone who is *still* admittedly watching more trashy ass youtube drama content than id like to admit #can we get some more actually creative and original content again at some point like this is getting so boring and monotonous #just make a funny video somebody for the love of god #shut up kaily

Pausing my op marathon so I can watch the movies and other shows while the current arc keeps going 🫡🫡

#also wano was such a thing.... like so well constructed.... so much background.... can't believe i am nearly caught up. this is insane #i am like 2 months too soon. i thought i was gonna spend the whole uni year watching it. well.....#i think dressrosa was good but at the same time luffy doesn't have the connection to the people of the island he has in wano or others...#it is mostly law's story that pulls you in and that's good but i love me my luffy so wano and what they did to get to gear 5.... too good #just saying shit at this point... retrospective i guess....#gyojin island was great to me bc it was mostly lore and i loved the end with jinbe #and shirahoshi and luffy were too good together. rude little man and a big ass scared siren. incredible showstopping #punk hazard was too funny. had a blast and law was a menace... also tashigi my friend tashigi... and smoker....#wci was emotional to say the least. luffy suffered more than jesus but somehow sanji cried more which i loved to see....#NOW i would have liked for wano to be zoro's story too... which kinda was but i wish he had important relationships with people that are not #luffy or his swords you know. but tashigi wasn't there and i think she is central to where his character is going so. i will wait i guess...#goodbye my sweet darlings.... buggy is waiting for me in the title screen of the next episode but i have to say goodbye for now....#i will see you in your non canon movies.... farewell.....#fuck i have exams next week... this is so bad for my op marathon stats.....#talking tag #watching one piece

I'm reading Rebecca for the first time, and ignoring the obvious gothic inspiration, psychological thriller (which I'm way too early in the book to comment on), from the very first chapter, the style of narration vividly reminds me of The Haunting series.

#rebecca #i mean rebecca by Daphné du Maurier in case the gothic and psychological thriller wasn't obvious enough to guess #funny thing i never watched any adaptation so i don't know the end #i know the basic plot but that's all #I've been wanting to read her for ages #until one day on the radio i learnt that she was queer #which obviously made me more prompt to read lmao #although as far as i know she has more obvious queer books #but it's the classic book #also im pretty sure I can find some queerness into a gothic story #to come back to the topic #idk how to explain it yet #cause im basically at the beginning #probably because of the retrospective narrative #and like the vibes about Manderley #which I'm not even in yet #but it feels so present already #and yes it's a classic #the Hitchcock movie is too #so the writers of the haunting series probably took some inspiration from it #i mean she's the master of the genre #anyway #we could have the haunting of manderley #olivia's actress could be Rebecca
