......but seriously, I had "Gun for Hire" from Arcane on repeat while I planned/boarded that scene to get the ✨vibes✨(that directly caused Guns for Hire to be my top song for Spotify wrapped that year lol), and then Josh mentioned referencing ATSV a lot and having the ATSV soundtrack on loop for that scene, so hopefully something emotional came across from those more or less. After that, the animation team, effects, music, and the lighting team (Magician Eric Hawkins) did their magic (that sunset!!) to bring us the final scene we're seeing, and it was even more glorious than I imagined 🥹

by the way i've been going through rtd's non-doctor-who work and the first thing i watched was queer as folk and i have to say. there's a lot going on in that show but my main takeaway is "it's extremely obvious that the guy writing this really wants to write doctor who." there are ten episodes and of those i believe seven mention doctor who in some capacity. the theme starts playing in the middle of gay sex. k-9 is there. the character responsible for most of these references breaks up with his boyfriend because the boyfriend can't name all the doctors. at the end he has a couple lines where i was like "wow this sounds like something the doctor would say" and then the next lines out of his mouth were about doctor who. all of this is retroactively much funnier now that rtd kickstarted a 20+-year-long reboot for the show

when arthur gets thrown in the dungeons, bayard and his entire delegation are STILL THERE. imagine you're a king come to sign a peace treaty and end war, get falsely accused of trying to kill the prince and get chucked in the dungeons, and then two days later you hear the very same prince loudly arguing with the king about the boy you watched almost die the other day, and then he gets locked up too. what a time to be alive. that's probably why uther let arthur out the next day instead of after the promised week, it would give a weird impression of camelot to let the whole mercian delegation walk past the prince behind bars when they get released

However. silver lining in everything is that he very earnestly told me about noob vs pro vs hacker vs god today . and he told me "My builds are kinda noob..... but tags builds are like GOD!!!!!!!" and it was really adorable. but also i donot think he should be watching so much youtube and i dont like it . to be clear not his fault that he watches so many youtube videos my parents literally either shove a phone in his face any time or just get annoyed anytime he tries to talk to them . soap has known for a while now that ghost is an absolute menace. most people think the stoic lieutenant has little sense of humour beyond those one or two jokes he’ll throw out during a mission, but soap knows better.

ghost routinely does things to subtly throw people off, whether or not they’re aware of it. he’ll move things slightly over from where they normally stand, will steal food when someone’s not looking. he pulls pranks on the 141 and is capable of making an obnoxious higher-up make a fool of themselves without realizing it until it’s too late.

one of soap’s favourite schemes, once he figures it out, is the one where ghost will prop a chair against a wall, and sit like he’s overlooking a room, or a group of rookies. he’ll fold his arms over his chest, wear those extra-tinted sunglasses of his, and take a nap while everyone is none the wiser, all carefully skirting around what they’re saying and doing because it looks like the lieutenant is watching, listening.

soap discovered he did this after he’d been talking to ghost for some ten minutes straight without receiving so much as a grunt in response, only to nearly have a heart attack when he had gotten closer to check ghost was still breathing and ghost had chosen that moment to wake up. ghost thought it was hilarious, and it’s a little funny in retrospect, but now soap is a bit more hyper-vigilant when it comes to sussing out ghost’s schemes.
