Something I really love about totk is the different feel it has compared to botw. Like in botw you can travel for MILES and find literally no one except for monsters and koroks. And even when you come across someone they don’t know who Link is. Yeah they know the legends of a hero who could wield the Master Sword and a princess who fought back the Calamity. But they’re just that, legends.

But in totk there’s people all over Hyrule and they know Link and Zelda. The legendary princess and her hero are their neighbors, teachers, leaders, friends. Everywhere you look there’s evidence of Link and Zelda’s presence in the lives of their people.

They’re no longer lonely, larger than life figures. They’re one with Hyrule and those who live within it. They’re free to nurture the land and it’s people together, side by side.

Oooh this might be a controversial take (for the bireena community maybe) but I feel like I need to get it off my chest

I don’t ship sekhan, I feel like that is completely obvious, but-

I didn’t want bireena in khaos reigns either (even before it came out and sekhan became canon)

At most, I wanted them to meet, try to kill each other maybe, have no choice but to team up, and then leave off on a cliffhanger on what the future could hold. LIKE that was it. No romance yet, maybe not even an official friendship, just obscurity to set up their future.

I feel like we’re still at a point where Bi-Han needs to make a lot of personal growth first. The last thing I want him doing is putting his nasty unredeemed hands anywhere near my precious SAREEEENNNAAAA!! If they were to interact at any point in future games or kombat packs, I want the focus to be on redeeming the two (mostly bi-han) cause at the end of the day, I am a Bi-Han fan first, bireena fan second. I will even take it if they just end up as friends if that means he can finally redeem himself and not go down the constant path of evil and being someone’s side-kick.

From my time on twitter I’ve noticed the constant need of some bireena fans to attack sekhan and complain that we didn’t get bireena, which is fair they’re allowed to do that, but I think that’s genuinely the wrong way to look at this whole situation. I mean, if you wanna think in context to how Bi-han acts/ presents himself in this timeline, I actually think he and sektor make perfect sense. He doesn’t like people disagreeing with him and sektor is basically the embodiment of an enabler/ loyalist. OF COURSE, he’d be down for that (which is not to say I like sektor’s writing either, I wanted her to betray Bi-Han and push her own image onto the Lin Kuei). But I think the point of putting him with her (though I don’t want to give NRS any writing credit yet) is to show how messed up his mind is and how he goes for the wrong methods to get what he wants (like liu kang said).

I know we shouldn’t exactly take the Johnny cage announcer voice as canon but I feel like everyone is missing the “future” part in “bi-Han’s future bestie”. They still haven’t even officially met if you don’t count him kicking nitara’s ass at the Ying fortress. If they had gotten together in khaos reigns it would’ve been just as bad and poorly written as sekhan. If you wanna attack sekhan and call it forced because her entire story revolves around a man then you need to also keep in mind that if Sareena had been written as a romantic interest to Bi-Han in khaos reigns it would be the exact same thing. Sareena still has her own soul to redeem and her own past to confront. The last thing she needs is to be with a man that has all the mental maturity of a group of middle schoolers who frequent Hot Topic.

(This portion is my own headcanoning and how I want them to meet, I’ll mark where it ends)

As stated before, I think the main priority should be Bi-Han and Sareena focusing on their redemption arcs if they are to interact with each other in the future. Bi-Han needs to see the error in his ways of thinking and let go of his pride. Sareena needs to see she’s more than just an underling to Quan Chi and break free from his control. If anything, I think the best way to approach this is to maybe bring up MK Mythologies again and have them meet through that. Maybe Bi-Han gets betrayed and gets stuck in the netherrealm and has no choice but to spare a life (Sareena’s) and relies on her to help him get out. That way it would teach him the value of mercy that he didn’t understand in Khaos Reigns. And from there I think in terms of Sareena’s story she sees someone with a tainted soul and feels some empathy about that. Helping him to redeem himself- to her- would be like a way of helping her understand that no soul is too far gone and she herself can be redeemed and help others.

As far as how he would act after being “redeemed” I can’t exactly tell you how I think he would act, especially since he’s not really the apologetic type. But maybe an interesting route he can take is Kuai Liang’s old role in the previous timelines. He’s seen how fa pride can take you and how destructive it is. That way he’s the perfect perspective to redo/ remodel the Lin Kuei. Kuai Liang seems too focused with the Shirai Ryu this time around so if anyone should be redeeming the Lin Kuei it should be the guy who has taken the most mental and physical damage from being a part of it. And from that little plot line, the Shirai Ryu and the Lin Kuei can make peace with each other.

Again, THIS DOESN’T HAVE TO BE ROMANTIC FOR BIREENA. I’m more than happy if they’re just friends in the end. I just want some sort of redemption and closure for them for ONCE! They’ve been subject to so much heartbreak and evil in previous timelines, they deserve better than this one dimensional writing.

I know this may all come off as hypocritical coming from me, the most frequent poster in the bireena tag 😂, but keep in mind the type of content I post. I VERY CLEARLY do not take myself or my art very seriously and most of my art is comedy based. So before you sharpen your pitchforks and sum me up as just another bireena artist, just know I draw what entertains me the most and I’m usually not serious about it.

Do I still want bireena? Or course I do. I just don’t want it NOW. I’m willing to wait- I don’t want forced/ rushed writing on a ship I’ve devoted myself to for the past year.

I'd like to think that when his parents see this "vandalism" they are at first outraged, cursing the wretches of Baldur's Gate who would dare to desecrate the last loving thing they could do for their child.

Then they read the etching over and over again, their anger slowly fading, making way for confusion and disbelief. They see a familiarity in it; the way the numbers are carved so carefully, a curvature in the script that is so reminiscent of the hand written paper work his father would review. Of the poetry his mother fondly read.

And for a moment they would dare to hope that somewhere, out there in this vast beautiful and often cruel world, their little star is still shining bright.

Spider Robbie is an au in which Robbie Robertson takes up the spider mantle after the death of the one before him. He is the third, following Ben Urich and, most notably, Peter Parker.

This au is very much canon divergence from Eyes Without a Face, where Peter makes it in time to save Robbie from his original fate but dies in the process. Peter is shot while rushing Robbie and the others out. In his panic and elation at finding Robbie physically unharmed, Peter outs himself as the Spider Man to his best friend. Robbie stays with him as he bleeds out and resolves to continue to hide Peter's identity.

Peter is buried and remains that way for... an undetermined amount of time.

Robbie is left with a mask, a jacket, and the question of just who was this other half of his friend. As he learns more of who this... Spider Man was, he gets more and more involved in the spider's cases and conflicts. Robbie gets more sure of his own abilities and makes a bit of a name for the Spider Man within his own community, though the people of Harlem are largely unaware that the appearances of a masked vigilante match the interests of one Robbie Robertson.

It is to be noted that none of these aforementioned abilities are spider-god-induced powers like Peter's. Robbie, especially at the beginning of his spidering career, leans more into Urich's role than Parker's. To me, Robbie has been passionate about the press and journalism in a way that Peter never was. For Pete, his job as a photographer and reporter was a job he took until he could get into college and study science. Robbie has a way with words and communication that Peter frankly lacks. Of course, that isn't to say that Robbie won't be kicking ass, because he will. It will just take him a bit of time to get some of those skills as he's, well, a normal guy. Not everyone can get their biology scrambled like Pete.

And just because Robbie hasn't been scrambled doesn't mean he's completely separate from all things supernatural either!

I think the marvel noir universe is at its best when there's a magical, supernatural undercurrent. This concept isn't super prevalent in the actual comics, but HoplesslyLost on ao3 has done some really cool world building with it.

I think in Robbie's case, where he would be the narrator, "magical realism" would be an interesting avenue to take it. I use this term in particular because I most closely relate it to Toni Morrison in my head, when I first learned about it through her work in high school. For Morrison, the concept was inseparable to blackness and I think for Robbie, where his blackness is so central to his character and his motivations, drawing on that could be more of a service to his character. It feels better to do that than ignore how incredibly racialized his society and story is. It will make his relationship with the spider god, Peter (who I will get to very very shortly), his community, and his own mythos as The Spider Man really interesting and complex.

So it's been established that Robbie doesn't have spider powers. And we all know that Peter did-- or should I say does. One of the spider god's abilities is to bring Peter back to life. She does this in the comics, but not in any of the runs from 2008-2010 (the runs that make up this au). When Peter dies on Ellis Island, he does not think he is coming back from that. Waking up again is a surprise.

Here's where I think the au really takes a left turn. Do I think the Spider God is purely evil and spiteful and has it out for Pete? No, not really. Will I be ramping said traits up to 11 for the au? Yeah, I guess I might. This is because I love a little bit of horror and the came back wrong trope. I will hopefully be fleshing the spider god out in the near future, but I really haven't given her the many hours of thought I have the other characters. For that I'm sorry spider god </3

Peter digs himself out of his grave, more spider than he ever has been. For much of his new, waking life he is more animalistic than not. There is clearly something wrong with him; his joints are too flexible and loose, he's got some eye-shine going on, his skin is pale and his veins are starkly dark beneath it. He's possessed. Someone is puppeteering him, someone who knows a lot-- almost everything about him, but it's clear that the someone isn't him.

And Peter--- the body, it can't be Peter. At least, that's what Robbie thinks when the figure catches his eye the first time. Because Peter is dead and buried, and he has been dead and buried for weeks.

In your opinion, do you think he's still trying to get into the Genius Society? Or has he resigned himself to the idea that it won't happen? And if so, what do you think he feels about the whole thing now? I imagine it have been hard for him to accept if so.

Hi! I think I mentioned my thoughts on him and the Genius Society in passing in one of my posts but I've never really gone too into detail on it.

So, I believe it was in my character stories post that I said this

Which does pretty much capture my thoughts on him sort of giving one final attempt to prove himself worth of the GS and instead receiving a letter from the IPC.

However I will absolutely go more into detail on what I believe his thoughts on the GS to be.

So, I believe that deep down Ratio was always at least somewhat aware of the fact that he wouldn't get into the GS, though as I stated in my character story post I don't think he truly swallowed that pill until he received that letter from the IPC.

Ratio knows himself well and it's easy to tell that he sticks out from the members of the GS (that we know of), not only in just his achievements and research, but who he is and how he acts. He was always subconsciously aware of the fact that he perhaps cared too much about people, but individuals and humanity as a whole.

His Planetary Weapon was a last ditch attempt of sorts to try and prove that he too can seek knowledge without taking life into account, though the letter he did receive made him realize that wasn't the type of person he wanted to be.

(There's a wonderful post by @/overdressedcarp that incapsulates my thoughts on the Planetary Weapon in much better words and I'd recommend reading that as well!)

I think a deeper part of him may still hold onto a bit of hope that he still can make it, however he's mostly forced himself to drop the ambition.

This heavy rejection would certainly brew a lot of conflicting emotions, especially considering getting into the GS has likely been a goal for years for him. I believe Ratio wouldn't have the greatest skills with emotional regulation considering most of his life has been centered around logic and things that tend to be black and white, yes or no. Emotions are confusing, complicated, and often they don't have one solid answer.

I think he may have been bitter for a while afterwards, not towards the GS who he holds a very high amount of respect for given his interactions with them, not even towards Nous, but towards himself and how soft-hearted he is beyond the hard-stone of his alabaster head. Bitter is the best word I can think of if I had to only use only one. Melancholic, spiteful, depressed, I can imagine his students noticed he was a bit snappier following this event.

The recent influx of “Jason is obviously a bad person. Look at how many people he’s killed” posts is 2x more idiotic because it runs on the same premise as “Jason is a cop symbol”. There’s an infinitely more famous example right next to him that people ignore entirely.

In the real world killing people is a felony, just as vigilantism as a whole is too. The same way Batman is a fictional character in a fake world, Jason is not part of the real world either. I think if you’re above age 10 you should’ve moved past the stage of trying to point fingers to try to determine a right vs wrong way to do illegal vigilantism in a world like the dcu while pretending it’s a perfect model of a real society lol.

Batman enjoys maiming and crippling people (bad things). Why is he working with cops and throwing drug addicts into prison after beating the tar out of them (bad things). It’s proven in the real world that that does not do anything to rehabilitate them and in fact costs the government billions of dollars and actually worsens the war on drugs (higher mortality & crime rates, and increased spread of infectious diseases). Yet since the authors constantly spoon feed you lines about how heroic he is people just eat that shit up, disregarding the fact that it might be utter horseshit irl and his morals wouldn’t make much sense either.

If ‘character doing bad thing’ is synonymous with ‘character can’t possibly be a good person’, then that should negate the idea that Batman’s biggest trait is compassion (although I think it already does for other in-story reasons lol, re: he tends to be classist and discriminatory towards people who commit petty crimes, calling them degrading names like “trash” and “bottom-feeders”. No amount of donating to charity makes you a good person if at your core you see poor/homeless people as lesser and you get a kick out of mocking them).

There’s far more evidence of Jason possessing all the good traits the authors keep begging you to believe Batman has. He patiently fed and cared for his dying mother all alone as a small baby/child. He literally fed groups of homeless people like a mother hen everyday while he himself was homeless, brain dead, and running on basic survival instincts. After finally regaining higher functioning in his brain and discovering the joker was still alive, one of the first things he cried about was the countless number of other innocent people dead at the hands of his own killer. If the only justification you have for why Jason’s a bad person is that he kills, that’s a weak and baseless argument for obvious reasons.

After Lois and Clark adopted Dani and Dan (bringing them up to 4 kids) and Bruce adopted Danny and Jazz (bringing him up to 8 kids legally), the kids started swapping. Sometimes Lois would wake up to find she had 5 kids in the house, sometimes Bruce would wake up to find Dani and Danny had swapped houses, sometimes all 12 would stay one home or the other, sometimes they'd wake up to find the kids had just up and swapped houses leaving Lois and Clark with 8 and Bruce with 4. So the three decided that they'd just share custody of all 12 kids. (yes, Dick, Cass, Jason, and Dan are technically adults, doesn't make it less confusing when they show up.)

I spend a lot of time wailing (mostly to myself) about the twenty one pilots Car Allegory, mostly due to how much it speaks to my own depression/ocd cocktail, but there is also much to be said about the ocean/water allegory.

In Implicit Demand For Proof, Addict With A Pen, and Drown, Tyler uses water (in the form of rain) as a metaphor for God's presence/existence/power over him. He wants to be washed clean, and would take this as evidence/proof that God is real and hasn't turned away from Tyler despite his self-percieved flaws or failings. But there is also violence implied in this ("rain down and destroy me" & "can you drown me?" & even "but you specialize in dying") which indicates that this impulse or desire is harmful in some way.

Also in Drown Tyler describes the ocean as "blacker than black" and says it's something he was supposed to "win" against, according to God, who has apparently abandoned Tyler (the sky is also black) and Tyler can barely even differentiate between the ocean, depression, and God, the sky, because of how dark and tumultuous it is.

In March To The Sea, we get what's arguably a description of vialism before that had even been birthed as a concept, describing people throwing themselves mindlessly into the ocean (depression) and refusing to look up at the sky.

In Holding On To You Tyler describes himself as "lost at sea."

In Migraine (and other songs but it's the main one) Tyler refers to his mind as "an island of violence" and the island metaphor would later become more literally realized as voldsoy. He's trapped alone, surrounded by the ocean or the sea.

In Chlorine and arguably Backslide ("I feel the pool" original lyric truthers rise), the ocean becomes more enclosed and is represented as a pool. In the Chlorine video the pool is completely dry at first and then again at the end with Tyler sitting at the bottom of it, then joined by Ned (who represents creativity). Tyler also uses the chlorine as a metaphor for his creativity, which he is dependant on but still capable of harming him ("venom on my tongue.") If bodies of water generally represent depression or mental struggle, adding chlorine like you do in a pool would suggest adapting water or taking control of it (writing music/making art about that struggle), but you're ultimately not changing it and going into it will still harm you. The pool itself could represent taking control of your mind or tackling one issue out of a larger metaphorical ocean, but it could also represent isolation or the sensation of being trapped in a mental box.

And then there's Paladin Strait, a gap between where Tyler is and where he needs to be (/where everyone else is waiting for him), which he needs to swim through. Despite any risk of drowning, despite how cold and unforgiving and tumultuous the water is, he chooses to swim through it. Because he can't be by himself and because people are expecting him. IE, "[the water is] all that I have and all that I need, and the waves of the water mean nothing to me." You can't conquer an ocean, but you can learn to swim.

GUYS okay hear me out majoras mask boat boys au

I love legend of zelda I love boat boys this is like the ultimate combination of my interests you cannot understand the brainrot. Idk what to call it yet tho... majoras minecraft? Anyway prepare for an essay

OKAY so we have the Hero of Time, Etho, who stopped ganons plans before they started, and would be stuck in a child's body if not for the fact I think that'd be a lil weird for the more shippy aspects of this au that all the running through time aged his soul and his body followed suit (he's still got a young appearance, and the mask doesn't make him look older like he thinks). Same reason he has the scar over his eye (from the ganon fight); no matter how much the body may heal or rewind the mind will not forget.

Then navi (maybe bdubs?) left him, and he went with epona (maybe bdubs instead? (eponas a horse iydk)) and he sets out on a journey aka the beginning of mm:

Wandering through the woods on epona, gets jumped by skull kid. For those unaware, there is skull kid, a lonely lil sweetheart, and he wears the mask, an entity on its own. He also has two fairies, siblings tael and tatl.

So I was a little unsure about this for a while, but I think I've decided on grian for the skull kid and Jimmy for tael, grian bc watchers and Jimmy bc skull kid is not very nice to tael (bc of the mask) and like a listeners reference or smth blah blah blah

TATL. that's who's interesting. At the beginning she gets separated from her friends and becomes your companion. So naturally for this au she is our favourite joel smallishbeans. It works so well. Tatl is mean but cares, and that's joels dynamic with the bad boys and with etho, guys it's literally perfect idc what you say

I think it doesn't change much throughout like the story of the game, but just taking dialogue tatl says to link and its so perfect for a sassy joel to a "can't believe I'm dealing with this shit again" etho. Uh one thing different though; in hylian form etho doesn't have an ocarina but instead a mini marimba. Just because. I think it's cool, and for potential things later on.

Now, fairies in this au are just tiny glowing people shaped things with wings. The glow around them is their magic, and depending on emotions/energy the brightness changes (thats why they look like flying balls of light). Some fairies have the ability to make projections of themselves, more hylian sized in nature. This can be intimidation or distraction or w/e, but they cant do it for long periods of time bc its exhausting. These forms aren't physical. Just sized up light projections of their actual bodies.

So for a lot of their journey, joel is just a cute pocket sized ball of rage and sarcasm, who helps with ethos aim for fighting. Bc that's a game mechanic and also ethos like half blind. But like when joel calms down imagine him crawling into ethos hat and just dozing off. He can fit in the palm of your hand like guys it's so cute. But he is also capable of being worse than a mozzie

Oh probably a good point to put in what I imagine etho looks like. So it's typical link green (maybe a bit dampened?), weird pointy hat, short hair (white ofc), his shirt is more of a jacket with a fluffy cold weather collar, it's a bit too big for him but he knows he'll grow into it, he's all knobbly and thin (underfed a lil, boy was never taught how to care for himself beyond basic survival). His injured eye is red bc of ganon, and often gives him phantom pains. It can't be healed.

Anyway, at some point in their journey together, etho and joel learn a song that let's fairies have a larger physical form, no wings, sorta like the great fairies (who they learnt it from prolly). It isn't permanent, slowly draining ethos magic meter, the spell ends when you run out of magic. This is because I want them to actually be able to stand side by side or maybe hug, and also bc its hard to block a blow with your body when ur tennis ball sized.

Aaaaand, this ties back in with with marimba. What if ethos injured, or unconscious, and he obviously can't defend himself, so joel panics and plays the marimba in what he hopes is the right order to give himself a body. I imagine that being that small, you could not play an ocarina. And hey maybe joel carries etho away after that, and when the spell ends he has barely any light emitting from himself because he spent nearly all his magic (what he is made of) saving etho.

But this song isn't used much, because of its draining nature, and you can't really do any other magic things while it's going. So it's mostly just in the final fight (over and over) or tough moments or maybe joel wants to experience something like hoe hylians do. It's obviously inferior to how he experiences things as a fairy, of course, he's just curious thats all. He totally doesn't want etho to do it more.

Okay I think ill sorta stop here, I am NOT done, I will probably post some art I've done for this later lol, and I want help with who everyone else is (mumbo is the moon. You cannot stop me nor change my mind) with mcyts to npcs
