ian and mickey mature and make peace with the fact that their respective mental illnesses/emotional intelligence fucks with their body awareness sometimes. it's just a thing they're working on. but they do it together - using that knowledge to help the other person when they're going through it.

mickey will crash on the couch next to him, slumping and mumbling "feel like dogshit," and ian will do a little cursory glance before asking it.

"you know what kind?"

"uh uh. just feel bad."

and then it's like clockwork. they go through it enough that they might as well get a book bound and place it on their mantle to refer to. if they weren't so good at it already, that is. "body bad, or brain bad?"

mickey takes a second to himself. silent and unhappy. then, "body."

"yeah? feelin' sick?"

a shake of his head, but then a grimace. like that was too much movement. "head hurts."

something ian can work with. he scoots closer to his husband on the couch, experimenting with a little brush of his fingers over the back of his neck. "don't think i've seen you drink today..."

"just had a beer."

ian huffs a little laugh. "meant water, mick..." the fact that mickey moves closer to him is a good sign too. "your lower back hurt?"

another self-assessment. then, with heavy, suspicious eyes that peer over at him, "how the hell you know that...?"

ian grins softly. bingo. "s'your kidneys." an easy fix this time around. "you're dehydrated, baby."

"mm."

"and grumpy." but water will probably fix that too.

ian gives the back of his neck a little squeeze and then grabs him a glass of water from the kitchen, dumping a Liquid-IV into it (just the lemon-lime one - the only one mickey tolerates)

he loves an easy fix. they aren't always this way. but even when they aren't - even when it's him on the other side, they always get through it together.

HELLO HI HELLO I AM!!! RECOVERING CURRENTLY!!!!

So I haven't posted in a small moment and planned to get myself going again soon but right now I am recovering from an accident (I won't get into the nitty gritty) that has left me quite shaken. FIRST OFF I AM OKAY! Minor injuries so nothing alarming I am physically fine besides being sore for a bit and some scrapes and bruises that are still healing, including my arms which is making drawing a bit difficult. I'm slowly getting better but cant really draw for long periods and honestly I might not draw much for a bit till I feel better both physically and mentally. its the mentally part that might take some time. But I'm resting, rest assured!

ANYWAY this is more just an update cause I know i've been a lil absent. ESPECIALLY after this accident. I'm not abandoning the blog by any means, def still check on tumblr but couldn't seem to muster the energy to interact with much at the moment as my brain is a little rattled up.

I hope yall are all okay! I hope your days are bright and yall are taking care of yourselves!

I promise I'm doing what I can to take care of me!

Pete's fever wasn't going down. It wasn't really Pete's fault. He had started eating more regularly, even if slowly to not upset his stomach. (He didn't want to vomit his insides all over the duvet again. It hadn't been a pleasant experience.) He had started sleeping more, too, and even though it had mostly been accompanied by disturbing dreams and could be described as anything but nourishing, at least it was something. This wasn't really Vegas' fault, either. Well. It was. It was difficult to explain, and Pete didn't quite have the mental capacity or the patience to make Vegas understand why he hadn't magically healed in a day thanks to a bowl of noodles, a couple of pills and some bandages wrapped around his torso. In all honesty, that was a lie. Despite Pete's reluctance to admit it, he had been way more patient that he should have. More than he could sustain. Today, his patience seemed to be at its limit. Pete didn't let it show - he never did, he couldn't afford to, not even now - but he could feel it brewing under his skin. The urge to snap at an anxious Vegas hovering above him with blood-shot eyes and trembling limbs was big and tempting, but Pete knew better than to succumb to it. He simply closed his eyes and breathed in through his nose, trying to forget about it. Vegas, of course, wouldn't allow that. "Pete," he heard Vegas whisper. When he didn't respond, Vegas said it again, louder. "Pete. Hey, look at me." Pete did. "Do you not hate me?" Pete didn't answer. "Don't you want to kill me?" Pete sighed. He refused. H wouldn't give Vegas the satisfaction. "How would you do it?" This was starting to get irritating. "Vegas-" "Tell me, Pete. What would you do? Would you use your hands or a weapon?" Pete couldn't escape this. He realized when he looked at the pure desperation in Vegas' eyes. "I'm a bodyguard, aren't I?" he foolishly said, his voice breaking slightly. He lifted his head and stared at the ceiling. He could picture it; him wearing his uniform, blowing Vegas' brains out with his gun. The image brought him no satisfaction. Only a faint sense of dread he couldn't rationalize. Vegas' humming snapped him out of it. "Yes, I can see that. I can't imagine you using a knife, though." Pete felt slightly offended by that comment for some reason. "Why? Don't you think I have the guts?" "It's too... emotional a choice for you. You wouldn't use it to kill me." Right. Pete huffed in amusement. "I guess you're right. I'm not like you." This did the trick. Pete could feel the effect of his words, the hostility Vegas was emitting. It gave him goosebumps, despite the temperature of the room. The sound of the door closing harshly made him flinch, a racing heartbeat remaining for a while afterwards. It didn't bother him. He was finally left alone. It didn't matter if he'd manage to get better or not. If only Vegas could see that.

okay i'm finishing up my s1 rewatch and this moment with lilith and the explosives was actually very funny and also wholesome like okay! we're working together now! lilith is a type A proactive control freak on a good day and right now we're also dealing with some brain interference vis a vis magical brainwashing from the otherside SO! it's a little complicated. but she's been talked off the ledge and she wants to help!

HOWEVER. probably not actually a great idea to let her impulsively blow through a bunch of rock with all those explosives! BUT THE GIRLS RECOGNIZE AND RESPECT THE INTENT. AND THEY ALSO KNOW THAT IF THEY DON'T REDIRECT LILITH'S MANIC ENERGY SOMEPLACE THINGS WILL GET BAD AGAIN. so they take her explosives away and she lets them bc she's On Their Side now but she's SO SAD about it and then bea lectures her quite gently and asks her to help drill a hole! A TASK! FINALLY! A PURPOSE!

my hot take is that c!quackity was never a real threat except for the prison lore and the execution. And both ended with him losing a life by being killed pretty easily. And i love that for him, he's trying too hard to be intimidating but it just makes him look silly
