"Oh, that's good—these stupidly expensive jello molds from the 60s?" She kept her eyes on the jello mold that hung up in Carmen's kitchen, assuming that it was most likely a gift from a family friend who didn't know the first thing about baking, or any form of culinary arts for that matter.

"And everyone just thought jello was a good compromise for, like–I don't know, actual dessert?"

"Yeah," Carmen let out a breathy laugh as he reached for the counter over Sydney's head for ground cinnamon, "Fak got it f'me as like a housewarming gift. Haven't used it once." He carefully poured in 4 teaspoons of cinnamon into a bowl of brown sugar and flour.

Sydney and Carmen had been flipping through endless amounts of basic and generic desserts, just to see if they'd have the inspiration to spice any of them up. But nothing seemed to light that spark of motivation. So, they were left with coffee cake as a last resort.

"I mean, no hate against jello. It's pretty, but.." Sydney trailed off as she poured a cup of cool, melted butter into that same bowl. Her and Carmen had a tendency to insist that everything had to be a 2 person job.

"But it's not coffee cake." Carmen turned his head to Sydney, finishing her sentence for her. Her lips curled up into a smile, her front teeth slightly visible while she nodded her head and looked right into Carmen's eyes in agreement.

"Yeah. Or, y'know, a cannoli."

"Jesus, Sydney. Stop." Carmen shook his head, smiling hard as he kept his eyes glued to the counter in hopes that Sydney wouldn't notice that he was laughing at her mean jokes.

"You know I'm not letting that go!" She glanced at Carmen again, the sunlight beaming from the window reflecting on his gold chain that poked out from underneath his black sweater. It was almost like her sign to look away; her sign that Carmen would look right back at her.

It was her sign that she'd fall apart if their eyes locked, and she'd have to build herself back up the second he turned away.

You know, it wouldn't even occur to me that certain ships might even exist... if authors of fanart like yours (even before your dragonball phase) didn't insist on bringing that fact to my attention by screaming murder at anyone who might dare interpret their stuff in a certain way. And it's exactly that disclaimer that causes me to look closer at the art in question and realize that... oh wow, right, Gohan is really acting like a jealous lover here, huh? Is this your first day on the internet? People tag and draw blatantly-platonic seeming art that's actually ship art upon closer investigation constantly. Now idc what people do as long as its properly tagged, but it's a different story when my art is involved. Of course my DNIs are to prevent "misunderstandings." I'm not a moron; anyone can pick out supporting evidence for their bias if they look for it, which is exactly the point of saying I don't condone it. It's me going "Hey, these are my boundaries! If you don't respect them, that's shitty of you!"

I can't control how people interpret my art. I know this—but I can sure as hell clear the air about my intent and opinions. So I'll make myself very clear: I don't like my content being seen in a romantic context. Unless I confirm otherwise, it's platonic. Why? Because I fucking say so. If word of god isn't reason enough, that's on you. Your inability to see emotional intimacy between two adults as anything but romantic is not my fault—nor is it my responsibility to overcorrect.

It may shock you that, yes, this is how many families do interact. Not everyone's idea of a "convincingly portrayed" family dynamic is going to be the same. I'm a very sappy person irl and so is my family. It's honestly kind of pathetic that you obviously think my content is too much for a paternal relationship.

Even aside from that though, your arguments are just bad. I mean did you even reread this before you sent it? Sure. "Gohan acts like a jealous lover..." of his preschool-age daughter. Yeah, that's a totally normal take. Really makes you seem like a well-adjusted individual. I don't even know where you got the jealousy thing from since he spends the whole comic actively trying to leave and stop Pan from sticking up for him. Your other points are just conspiratorial; I see no point addressing them.

So yeah, take your final proposition and shove it. Maybe focus on how to "effectively and convincingly portray" whatever content measures up to your standards instead of preaching to me like I shouldn't do the same. I don't owe you jack—especially when you're too much of a coward to talk down to me while hiding behind anon.

And if this is who I think it is (given the timeframe you let slip), get off of that damn high horse already. PSA: 80% of my fan content could be interpreted as either gen or ship. Even things I tag with ship names. Want to see them as In Love? Sure. Best friends? That’s great too. Sibling dynamic? Absolutely! Some combination of these? However you wanna interpret is cool with me, idc!

A lot of things I ship romantically I also like to see in a platonic way! So unless the art/fic/post is explicitly romantic (they’re kissing, the rare nsfw, etc.) then you’re totally free to interpret it as platonic.

& and / relationships blur together a lot for me and I multiship the same pairing a lot. I’m not especially into NSFW or even explicit romance a lot of times, unless the genre itself is romance, so usually it’s just that I like the vibe of the characters together.

I call it a + relationship. Shroedinger’s ship. Just the two characters together, in whatever way you want in the moment. I think this sort of open/mixed intention should become more popular.

Anyway. Tag my art/fic with whatever. Interpret relationships I tag as / as platonic. I’m just happy when people like my stuff, once it leaves my hands it’s up to you.

just out of curiosity since you mentioned you only have a couple of ships, who do you ship in genshin?

Don't mind me as I panic because I'm literally scared of the shipping-side of fandoms in general (I've seen how people talk to each other on twitter when their ships don't align and, oh boy, I want nothing to do with that...) >.<'

But my ships are fairly popular aside from one... I guess? I have three I like. Just to give a specific number. And while I don't read or write ship fanfics, since I prefer x Reader, I do like to look at fanart occasionally.

Zhongli x Guizhong

I've shipped them pretty much since I started playing the game in 2021. I got super invested into Zhongli's lore and eventually came across her name. Then I started digging deeper into her lore and theories about her and fell in love with her and the ship.

I suppose this is something of a niche ship? Especially now with the new Lantern Rite where GuiPing seems to have overtaken it. And I've already seen people attacked over shipping GuiLi because of that too on twt now... cause apparently it's homophobic to ship them now? Idk... make it make sense. This is why I usually stay out of this.

2. Cyno x Tighnari

These two... I swear Sumeru has changed me somehow because as I stated in prior asks: I'm usually not into shipping characters so whenever I start liking two characters I have a sort of "denial stage" at first where I'm like "nah, I don't ship them... or maybe... no.... yes?".

And at first I was like "yeah they're best friends, whatever"... then I saw more and more fanart and was like "yeah, you know what, they're kinda cute." and eventually fanart converted me into shipping them. So, good job fanartists - the domestic and cuddly scenarios you put them in made me cave 👌🏻

And lastly...

3. Alhaitham x Kaveh

This one also seems to be quite popular and I basically just got past the above mentioned denial stage, haha! 😂

I have to admit I couldn't stand Kaveh at all at first, he seemed like a handful and I was like "yeah, they'd never get along in a million years, especially not as a couple."

Then I played Haitham's story quest and saw the interaction with Kaveh... then I saw more fanart again. Then [insert denial stage here] and I guess I'm now at the point where I can say, yeah... I like them and I also like Kaveh now... he is just such a kindhearted soul (even if he is a bit eccentric, I suppose).

Good job fanartists, once again 🤝🏻

I want to mention that I am really lost when it comes to shipping terminology and I also don't really want to get involved in all that stuff. It's all a bit too stressful for me.

I do want to draw fanart of these ships but I'm a bit too scared to do so and only drew things that could be interpreted as both ship or platonic (they're posted on my art blog, I'll keep this blog clear of that). Because I've seen how vile shippers get towards other ships at times when they don't like the portrayed one... instead of - you know - ignoring it??? Especially on twt.

And don't get me started on some "rules" people have put up for shipping. Like, just let me have the idea of two fictional characters being all lovey-dovey. If it makes me or anyone else happy, who cares? (as long as it isn't problematic ships ofc...)

I never intend to write ship fanfic however since that is something I also don't enjoy consuming myself. I always preferred self-insert 🤷🏻‍♀️

And lastly, idc if anyone ships these peeps with someone else or doesn't ship them with anyone at all. It's fictional characters and at the end of the day... it ain't that deep (which is why I'll never understand why some people make such a fuss over it...)

Hey I just wanted to share my thoughts about the whole "shipping hms" thing,,

I'm somebody who's largely against shipping them I'm apart of the group that find shipping them uncomfortable, though I don't see them as brothers at all I just generally dislike shipping the three. Idc about selfcest either btw I just find it weird specifically for hms.

I think the three have a very interesting dynamic/relationship that can be explored in so many ways that romance is not necessary for them and it doesn't really need to be touched on in that light because there's so many other ways to explore their relationships that doesn't make people uncomfortable.

Also the fact that hms are all quite toxic to eachother Heart trying to shoot Mind, Mind or Soul likely being the cause of Heart's blindness, Mind trying to get Soul to "get rid of" or kill Heart. I think having those kinds of interactions and mixing them with romantic relationships is kind of gross especially with all the art people draw of them hurting eachother.

On the note of the fandom I think shipping would drag this fandom down, the cj fandom is a very positive space and shipping in fandoms often leads to more issues/drama especially when it's selfcest

For the most part I think it's better to just leave shipping out of CCCC we don't need it the story and fandom work just fine without it

I get where you're coming from, but personally I don't agree with some of your points.

I may be wrong, but I get the feeling you wrote this under the assumption I want shipping to be a big part of this fandom. So, just to clarify, I don't want that at all. I'm more than fine with this fandom keeping the relationships completely platonic. But I do think that romantic interpretation could be interesting. I agree that there are many ways you can explore the dynamics WITHOUT romance, it's not necessary at all, but I just think it'd be fun to explore it in that light. That's solely my opinion, though, and I don't want shipping to become a major thing cause I don't want people to feel like they're forced to ship the characters or something.

About the fact that you believe it'd be toxic, I get where you're coming from, but it's important to note that Mind and Heart reconcile by the end of the album. I feel like if we go by that logic, they'd have a toxic friendship as well, then we can't make any content that's not angsty tearing-eachothers-throats out.

I, again, don't want shipping to be big in this fandom, and I think a lot of people feel the same. I agree that it might bring the fandom down if it got too big, but I don't think that's a good enough reason to not enjoy it a little. The last thing I want is there to be fighting in this community, it's a very pleasant online space.

At the end of the day, I don't think shipping is necessary at all in this fandom, I just think it'd be fun to play around with the idea. My main goal in fandom spaces is just to have fun.

Regardless of whether we're talking platonic or romantic or whatever—you're right, Bill is obsessed with Ford post-betrayal, you can't even say it's just to try to get through the barrier because he invites Ford to join him and then carries him around like a little kid's favorite stuffed animal long before he realizes Ford might still be useful to him—

But like, that's post-betrayal. It's an entirely different story pre-betrayal, when Ford calls Bill a "fickle being" who seemingly only visits him irregularly, but nevertheless Ford's got a shrine COATED in art of Bill, a shrine he spent either a whole lot of money or a whole lot of time creating. It's not much of a stretch to say Ford worshipped Bill (with whatever undertones to "worship" you personally feel like tacking onto the dynamic). If there was a one-sided anything back then, it was on Ford's side.

And then, very abruptly, it switched. And I do mean abruptly—Ford's change of heart is more dramatic and obvious, but based on Bill's notes in Ford's journal it seems even he made a pretty quick flip from taunting Ford over being deceived to trying to sincerely persuade Ford that his way is right. I wouldn't be surprised if something about the confrontation over Bill's betrayal is what triggered his switch from seeing Ford as a disposable pawn to seeing him as a friend and (dubious) "equal."

They were each dying for a little affection and compassion from somebody who at best disdained them and at worst hated them—but both of them were on both sides of that dynamic to each other. They were each enthralled with the other but never simultaneously, it was never reciprocated.

• favourite thing about them: his personality he is so silly and funny and my most favourite ever. love how there are so many different ways you could interpret his dialogue. he's a mysterious character but that makes me enjoy him more bc there are so many unknowns abt him and so much room for more development and it's fun to make my own takes on it

Favorite Thing About Them: I really fucking love Eirika’s whole arc, I love that she’s this really kind-hearted and charismatic princess who’s the textbook definition of femininity, but also when she realizes the lives of her friends, family, and all the citizens of Renais, are on the line, she absolutely pushes back and suddenly she’s this fierce and unstoppable warrior princess and it’s fucking amazing. My girl Eirika looked Glenn, one of the mightiest warriors of Grado, in the eye and basically said, “look man, I don’t want to fight you, but if you leave us no choice I’ll send you crying back to your emperor”.

Least Favorite Thing About Them: Fandom interpretation of her and basically how IntSys actively tries to erase her role as a protagonist of the game.

Favorite Line:

brOTP: Eirika&Tana! I never really liked them as a romantic pairing but I do love the friendship they have and how much they care about each other. I also 100% believe they would wingman for each other while looking for GFs

OTP: Self and crack shipping aside, I got two- Eirika x L’arachel is basically canon and also like, the best dynamic Eirika has in SS. Their A support is basically a marriage proposal and then there’s the scene in Rausten where in Eirika’s at her lowest point in the story and it’s L’arachel who’s there to pick her up. They’re really sweet, and really gay. 

The other pairing would be Eirika and Lyon. They have an adorable dynamic and idc what anyone says, Eirika definitely returned his feelings, Lyon just never had the self-esteem to spit it out. I definitely live for fics/content of them where Lyon can assert himself a bit.

nOTP: Literally everyone of her male supports. They range from gross to sexist to really boring. The only guy on that list that’s good is Forde and that support is like, entirely platonic imo. 

Random Headcanon: Eirika definitely gives off like, Alpha WLW vibes and has girls swooning over her across MagVel and none of it is intentional on her part/she doesn’t realize it’s happening. 

Unpopular Opinion: She is absolutely a better written and more interesting protagonist than Ephraim.

Favorite Thing About Them: I liked her difference in personality compared to regular Milla, I liked how she was a lot more outspoken aggressive. Xillia 2 definitely felt like it picked up a lot more once she joined the party. 

Least Favorite Thing About Them: I was really disappointed with how early she left the party and the fact that she didn’t have any mystic artes : /

Really she just felt very underutilized

OTP: F.Milla/Ludger- I mean, they were kinda written for each other, but still, the moments they share are really good, Milla wants to trust and like him but can’t let go of her grudge but they’re still brought together by wanting to protect Elle at all costs.

nOTP: F.Milla/Jude- Jude’s got his own Milla, and that’s really all there is to say on the matter lol

Random Headcanon: She absolutely hates the outfits Prime Milla wears and doesn’t care how many times she’s told Elle and Ludger that day about it

Unpopular Opinion: Idk if I really have any on this character, but I think she was the more interesting Milla tbh

Favorite thing about them: her smile Her designs are always really fucking cool and absolutely gorgeous. And then personality wise I love that she’s just like- if Asuka Langley Soryu/Rin Tohsaka was a YorHa android

Least Favorite thing about them: I was gonna make a joke about how there’s nothing I could say here but then I thought about it and realized the reason there’s not much I can say is because she hasn’t been featured in a whole lot of story, but that’s more a weakness of GFL than her character. For as well written as the characters and the story are here, no dolls really get enough focus outside of AntiRain/404/DEFY

brOTP: WA2000&Springfield- I feel like Springfield is just trying to be a good wingman for Wa2k and it’s really cute and nice

OTP: Since I’m banned from self-shipping here, I’ll go with the equally self-satisfying answer and say Wa2k/M16 where M16 comes in and sweeps her off her feet and Wa2k can’t handle it in the slightest. 

I also feel like there’s a decent case for Wa2k/Jill, where Wa2k saved Jill and when Jill tries to give thanks, Wa2k gets really flustered and tries to play it off like it was no big deal

nOTP: I don’t think I have one? I haven’t really seen a bad Wa2k ship

Random Headcanon: Wa2k is the subbiest sub/biggest gay disaster to ever be created in an IOP lab. When asked why anyone would make a helplessly gay combat android, Persica simply laughed before promptly removing the press from her office.

Unpopular Opinion: Apparently this is unpopular in some circles but I really do think that Wa2k is the beginner friendly SSR in the game and can work well in literally any team comp.
