kind of feel like 'write for yourself, nobody else' is bad advice. like i get where its coming from. but idk. it just feels too general. at least for me writing is about connecting with others and good writing knows how to do that. not connecting with everyone - not writing to please - but still connecting with others you know. you have to know what questions people might ask and how you might be able to get them invested etc etc.

Liminal Scarecrow

I see a lot of Scarecrow in DCxDP, usually as a plot device in tandem with his fear gas. And honestly, I’ll accept just about anything with a Scarecrow mention in it. However, there is one thing I doubt a lot of DCxDP fans know about from the DP side, which is the Scarebeast.

The Scarebeast is what was created when the Penguin decided to experiment on Scarecrow, essentially turning him into a living weapon.

It’s a giant monster that naturally produces fear gas in its body, and Scarecrow can only return to human form once the Scarebeast has been defeated.

I think that the Scarecrow could easily be a liminal of some sort, and the Scarebeast could be a manifestation of ghostly power.

Now, it should be noted that Scarecrow (to my knowledge) hasn’t died and been revived. He also hasn’t used the Lazarus pits. He gets beaten to hell and back on a regular basis, but he never actually dies.

However, we know that you don’t necessarily have to die to become a halfa. Vlad didn’t; instead, he was shot in the face with ectoplasmic energy by the malfunctioning proto-portal.

Also, we were never told exactly how the Scarebeast was created. Sure, we know that one of the Penguin’s scientists mutated him into existence, but we don’t know exactly what she used.

It’s not really so much of a stretch to think that he could have been exposed to some form of ectoplasm in order to stabilize or power his monstrous form, and as such became liminal (or a halfa).

Hell, all the other (canon) halfas in existence were created in a lab setting! Danny was mutated by ectoplasm and electricity when the portal opened, Vlad was blasted in the face by the previous portal, and Dani/Ellie was a clone.

Basically, give Scarecrow cool ghost privileges. He’s already got the creepy aesthetic. It’s what he deserves.

Danny can see and hear ghosts which means he can see the past users of One for All that follow Izuku. This means he hears and sees all the weird shit they do and says, and he knows things he shouldn't like how Izuku was born quirkless and how he is the successor of All Might.

Danny knows that he shouldn't stick his head in their business but he can't help but see himself in Izuku. He remembers when he first got his power he had no one to help or show him what to do, and it did not seem like All Might was helping much considering his advice was to his successor to clench his butt and Shout smash and hope for the best, not to mention that he hasn't taught him how to activate it his power without blowing up his limbs, and from what the heard the past users said it does not seem like any of the teachers know either which means Izuku can't get the help he needs.

The final straw was when he found out that the Izuku only got his quirk on the day of the entrance exam, Danny was never very good at keeping his nose out of people's business.

Danny gets summoned by the justice league, but he’s tired, just finished a ghost fight, missed his morning coffee, is running late on several college assignments, and has been summoned multiple times this week.

Or- Danny screams at the justice league for summoning him until someone offers to help with his rogues and homework, not that they really know what they’re offering to do. The summoning is wrapped up, the big bad is defeated, and Danny gets to go home. Too bad that one of the heroes is absolutely infatuated.

No Quirks CEO AFO AU

Yagi Toshinori, a retired investigator once known as All Might for his amazing work, has a deep-seated hatred of Daiki Shigaraki(AFO), the CEO and owner of All for One Industries. Never able to put the man behind bars for his seedy business dealings and “mysterious” disappearances of whistleblowers, Yagi decides to send his protege, Izuku Midoriya, into the lion’s den to spy on Shigaraki and find anything that’ll help to give the dark CEO his comeuppance.

Izuku doesn’t know much about Mr. Shigaraki, mostly due to Yagi’s tight lips concerning the man’s family, but he’s more than willing to help his hero find dirt by posing as a new butler.

But after following the orders from Toshinori to snatch what he’s told is an ivory box full of jewelry owed to Yagi’s friend, Kudo, Izuku discovers that the “jewelry box” kept close to Shigaraki actually contains…the ashes of the conniving man’s twin brother.

To make matters worse, Izuku soon finds that his new friend he met in the elevator of Shigaraki’s high rise, who is the spitting image of Shigaraki’s twin, is in fact the CEO’s cherished niece.

Will Izuku follow through with Yagi’s plan to hold Yoichi’s ashes over the CEO’s head, or will he decide to return what remains of Shigaraki’s precious twin?

Extras:

-This is NOT DFO

-AFO is known as a recluse at this point, or at least, he doesn’t leave his penthouse apartment on the top floor of his high rise much. This started after Yoichi died.

-Yoichi was married to Kudo. Their bliss was cut short by Yoichi’s untimely death after battling the flu. AFO convinced himself that’s all it was, but his personal doctor, Garaki, broke the news to him and Kudo that he came to the conclusion that Yoichi ultimately died due to complications from the Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome(TTTS) aggravated by the flu. AFO blames himself and takes out his pain on others through his business.

-As much as Kudo still despises his brother-in-law, he took Yoichi’s words to him in a private video-will to heart. Yoichi told him to let his brother keep his ashes and other possessions as he knew his brother would be devastated and unable to move on. In respect for Yoichi’s wishes, Kudo keeps this to himself and not even his friends (other OFA users) are aware of this.

-Yagi finds out that the ivory box always kept close to AFO actually contains Yoichi’s ashes and decides to steal it with the pretense of giving it to Kudo. However, he also hates AFO and his ulterior motive is to lord it over AFO’s head so he’ll admit to his crimes, finally validating Toshinori’s decades of work to stop him.

-Kudo and Yoichi have a 16yo daughter. Yoichi had mentioned to AFO his desire to have a baby and AFO used his fortune to make it a reality. He promised Yoichi to use both his and Kudo’s DNA for the surrogate, but secretly only used Yoichi’s. Their daughter is the spitting image of Yoichi. The surrogate gave birth after Yoichi’s death.

-AFO only calls his niece Princess and she is the only person he cares about now that Yoichi is gone. He tolerates Kudo.

-Izuku is a 16yo and a part of a program with the special investigations department of the local precinct. His idol is All Might, the famed investigator that is now retired, but enjoys the junior investigators program, so is often a teacher.

-Izuku’s savant ability at analyzing people and the environment sets him up as an amazing investigator. Yagi sees this and decides to take the boy under his wing.

-AFO’s niece visits her Uncle often, staying for weeks at a time on occasion. She found out about the TTTS 3 years ago and regrets what she said to her uncle back then. Her words caused him to spiral. She’s the only one AFO shows any feeling towards and is privy to his thought processes. She believes she can guide him to a better path as the only one he’ll listen to, taking up the mantle her father left behind.

-Bakugo, Todoroki, Ochaco, and others, are also a part of the same junior investigation program. Aizawa leads the program and is always annoyed when Yagi shows up. He feels like he is always undermined by him.

-The LOV are a part of AFO’s internship program at his company.

-AFO may be overweight in this as a result of trying to fill the hole left by Yoichi’s death. I’m still considering it.

Sibling Things #2

The Hold and Sway Hug

Sibling A and Sibling B have not seen each other for awhile. Maybe it was only for a short time, like one of the siblings went to a summer camp or went on a week long camping trip. Or maybe it's been longer with one of the siblings having been away at college or on tour in the military. Whatever the reason, the sibling's haven't seen each other for some time.

When Sibling A and Sibling B see each other, they're running at each other with large grins and delighted shouts of each others names. Sibling A opens their arms invitingly, waiting for Sibling B to throw themselves forwards so they can wrap themselves around each other. They're both grinning and giggling, eyes misting with unshed tears. Sibling B closes their eyes, resting their head against Sibling A's shoulder with a feeling of content, their heart singing with a sense of home and security as they fist their hands in the back of Sibling A's shirt.

Sibling A wraps their arms tightly around Sibling B, just delighted to have their sibling back in their arms. The joy spills over and they lift Sibling B off of the ground. The siblings sway from side to side, just basking in each others presence, happy to see other again.

I raise you this crack scenario: the final year that Sirius Black is allowed to win hottest person at Hogwarts is actually a tie between him and Bellatrix, because they may be deranged murdering bigots but they looked fucking stunning in their arrest photos. hehehehe this is even funnier if like. bella was a few years above them. and by the time reg’s in say, 7th year, he thinks he might just have a chance since he’s more visible now, prefect and capt of Quidditch team and what not ykno? sirius has been out for a bit, bella’s shacked up w a cult leader.

everything’s on track for him winning it. some random student doing so isn’t even the question—for as long as a black has been in hogwarts, they’ve bagged the top spots (except that one year when james potter’s robes disintegrated in the middle of the great hall due to an accidental self prank and all his assorted muscles & tattoos were on display just a few days before the voting. reg maintains it was sabotage. others say it was an attempt to flirt with his brother, which is exactly the worse option)

except. except. nope. that’s not gonna happen either. sirius consistently sweeps the whole thing. (i forgot the timeline for a sec but if u could ignore canon years and pretend like bella and s were caught when reg was in his final year—this scenario is HILARIOUS)

thank you so much! i'm glad you loved it! it's delightful to know the fic was... immersive in that was, lol. it was fun to write!

i do have other dead dove fics you can find on my masterlist here, but that fic is the only lobotomy fic i have. i have plans for a lot more dead dove-esque fics i'm working on to come out hopefully soonish, though none of them are going to feature lobotomies. i might add more to that fic though, i've got some ideas i want to explore, but there's so many other things i'm working on first. i have a whole rough schedule of fics to work on. but if people really like the lobotomy fic™ i can definitely prioritize writing more for the universe! or other lobotomy fics in general, i've got some other vague ideas in that vein.
