Story I've been doing that's directly linked to my sparkling posts:
Cybertronians are notoriously shit parents conpared to other sapient races
#hhougufgj#tf worldbuilding?#this is probably exactly exactly wrong canonically speaking but it's super funny#especially if you look at how the mentor system seems to work out pretty wellâ but like those kids seem to be fairly self sufficient#like how fifth graders are kinda okayish at stuff#straight up babies and toddlers though... uh not so not so. especially if they are feral and metal like we see in various canons#actually now I'm starting to question feral orion and What Circumstances lead to him being feral; are most newsparks just in the wild?#such as i mean the terrans are fairly good at the life-ing thing and were pretty much ready by baby standards#but i absolutely mean the tiny motherfuckers from bayverse and the bayverse hatchlings and fanon sparklings

Hi! I know you're probably busy rn with collage and what not and I totally understand if you can't expand on this but either way, god I just need to rant about this thought.
So I just saw this tik tok where this girl was like "when I'm riding passenger princess and we're getting a little to close to the car in front of us" and the audio was like "the question is when are you gonna START stopping?"
And one of the comments said she wasn't a passenger princess she was a anxious passenger patroller and all that had me thinking of was Stu and reader, like I don't know about everyone else but i canon whole heartily Stu is a great driver who drives recklessly because 1)he knows what he's doing and 2) he thinks the shits funny
And I believe he'd do it especially to reader when he gets in those weird moods when he doesn't know how to feel about the reader/doesn't know how to handle it, and it kinda just serfaces in this weird aggression . Idk it could be like a fight-ish thing and she's telling him to slow down and he's being a dick about and in the end he weasels his way back into her good graces because she won't speak to him first if he's wrong and he doesn't like going to long with out talking to her
I don't know what up with my mind and how it wonders, anywho hope you have a good day/night :)
a/n for sure busy with school and actually having a social life for once and writing but always always always have time for billy and/or stu (especially since i'm kind of stuck on final girl rnđ)
YOU ARE SO RIGHT,, like i don't think he'd drive recklessly to scare reader with the intention of putting reader or himself in a dangerous situation,, but he'd for sure find it funny or see it as a way to "humble" reader a bit, like if Stu felt like the reader was acting too detached or into someone else he's suddenly speeding a little more just so that reader has to grip his arm and squeeze his hand
anyway i've been missing them and super happy to have a lower stakes way to talk about them,, also this turned out a little different and fluffier than i expected it to be lol
----
Something about the commercial feels different in the fall. Cliche radio hits are easier during the summer, sometimes even fun. But during autumn, with leaves melting off trees in hues of red and orange and the looming end of the year nostalgia, the synthetic quality is harder to look past.
That's why your hand instinctually gravitates to the radio, switching the station without a second thought.
Stu sighs, a quick, over exaggerated puff of air. "I liked that one."
You glance in his direction, glaring, "You were barely listening."
Even though you're mainly defending yourself out of habit, you know it's true. Stu's pretty open about what he likes, even when he doesn't realize it. Usually, when he likes a song he'll tap his fingers against the steering wheel. If he really likes something, he'll even get into it in a way that definitely lessens his ability to control the car.
"I was, too," he hums, half pouting.
You roll your eyes before looking back out the window. The world is moving past you in a vague blur. So quick a seed of unease plants itself in your stomach. You wouldn't exactly call it worry, you've been hanging with Stu and getting him to drive you around too long for his casual take on driving to overly phase you. With the exception of him doing something particularly risky like throwing himself into another lane after barely checking or taking too sharp of a left turn because of yellow light.
Sometimes you comment on it, equal parts teasing and annoyed. But usually, it's easier to just accept it. Stu's so comfortable with the way he drives that comments only amuse him. The one time you glared at him and asked him to slow down, he had a made a game of switching lanes at the last possible second.
"You liked that Spice Girls song more."
Stu openly snaps his head away from the road to glare at you. "Did not, you're the one that likes that saturated pop stuff."
"I said I liked one song one time."
He sighs, finally turning back to face the windshield. "Sure..." He tugs on the last syllable, dragging it out to make his disbelief clear. "You wanna stop for ice cream?"
It's not exactly late, but later than you planned on staying out. Time seems to slip away too quickly when you and your usual group are together and this afternoon's movie that ended in a hangout at the mall had eaten even more time than expected. There was something extra entertaining about wandering between stores and only occasionally actually looking at clothes.
You do have homework and it is Sunday and you told your mom you'd be back around 6:00 probably and it's now almost 7:00. But ice cream does sound nice and there will only be so many evenings in your life that feel this warm and lighthearted.
"I have some homework," you mumble in one final attempt to convince yourself, "But, yeah, I could go for ice cream."
Stu nods, tapping his pointer finger against the wheel. "We'll be fast."
The yellow light doesn't affect his speed as he turns left. Your fingers press into the side of your seat. Fast. No kidding.
"You okay there, babe?" Okay, there's no way your expression was bad enough to warrant a question (especially when he should be looking at the road). He has to be baiting you. "You're looking a little green."
You force your hand to relax, "Mhm." And it is fine. At the very least, fine enough because Stu always drives like this. "Used to you driving like you're on the run."
"You're just sensitive."
The comment is more dismissive than teasing and for whatever reason, you like it less than when he makes fun of you. At least his bullying is coated in a distinct type of affection that only Stu can get away with.
You briefly consider starting one of your 'am not, are too' fights. You're definitely not above it, especially when you two are alone and no one's around to call you out for being overly childish. But if he's going to be moody over the smallest comment...
He switches lanes--without using his blinker--with a sharp turn of the wheel. "If it's that bad, you could get rides from someone else."
The comment is hard and too casual to be a threat, but still mean. It makes your stomach drop more than the way Stu maneuvers the car. You didn't say he was that bad of a driver and you definitely didn't say anything about not going out with him anymore.
There are a lot of good things about getting Stu to drive you around. You like being in his space and the music that's more often than not just a little too loud and the passenger seat that feels more like your seat. You also like the unplanned for car moments, the accidental gossip sessions in driveways and parking lots. It's part of the reason you're glad you don't have a license yet...it's an excuse to just be around him.
"I didn't--"
"Bet Randy would put up with your backseat driving." The car speeds up slightly. "He'd slow down if you gave him that look."
You frown, ruining any chance you have at arguing that that you don't have a face. You don't get what his issue is, especially with bringing up Randy. He's been making on and off comments since the movie you all watched ended.
You don't fully get it, but you guess you get Stu being a little annoyed. Randy and you had been a little obnoxious, laughing too hard at jump scares and flinching too dramatically at moments that weren't that bad. But it's not like you two were terrible. Definitely not bad enough to warrant this passive aggression.
"I don't want to drive around with Randy, I want to drive around with you." You're full on pouting and you don't even care.
Stu sighs, eyes avoiding yours in the rearview mirror. An uncomfortable warmth settles against his face. How do you always manage to do that? From anyone else, he'd hate it, but you're never trying to get anything out of it. Things like that are just offhanded comments to you. No ulterior motives. You don't even think twice about it.
"So now it's not enough enough to be driven around by anyone?"
You shrug, relaxing into your seat. "I'm spoiled."
His throat feels dry, a wave of uncomfortable fondness hitting him with no warning. He knows there's some joke he should make about how you're shameless about it, too. But he's too caught up on the amount of feeling tightening his chest.
He turns into parking lot of your usual drive-in ice cream spot.
"You're enabled."
You turn your head, smiling, "And you're the enabler."
Stu grins, moving a hand to squeeze your shoulder. "I'll enable you any time, babe."
You roll your eyes, but don't make any move to shake him off. "Enable me a--"
"Mint chocolate chip in a waffle--not sugar--cone." He recites your usual order without a second thought.
You nod once in approval. "This is why you're my favorite."
"I'm telling Billy you said that."
Scratching the back of your arm, you glare. Stu's always trying to start a fight with that. "Do not start."
He grins teasingly, "Start what?"
You glare, hoping that the look is threatening enough to make him promise to leave your comment behind. You've known Stu long enough to know that he'd happily take a you're my favorite and save it until he could use it as some sort of ammunition, exaggerating it to make sure it really hits. All that does is make him smile more. Before you can say anything else about it, Stu rolls down the window and orders.
When you get to the window, you try to pay for your own, but that ends as it usually does. He never lets you pay for anything, and when you threaten to leave cash in his car, he threatens to buy you even more things. Try it and on Monday I'm picking you up with coffee and a muffin and that new CD you were talking about. ...A lot of the times, the suggestion makes you want to stop for coffee and muffins before school anyway, so you end up getting it with him anyway.
You give in early this time, thanking him for the ice cream as he finds an empty spot to park in. You smile to yourself. Parked car time with Stu is something you enjoy a lot more than you'd ever admit. The two of you have a silent understanding that in these moments you can say things you wouldn't usually be able to say out loud. Nothing terribly cruel, just a little snarky. The kind of comments that'd get you in trouble in front of the wrong people.
Usually, you have to take the lead at first because Stu likes to act like he's too good for gossip, but once he gets started, he's worse than you.
You're still debating which of the two major topics--rumors you've heard about Susan Welch being pregnant and the weird way Madison Meyer has been acting--to bring up first when Stu breaks the silence. "You uh--" Stu cuts himself off. "You know I wouldn't--I wouldn't do anything that'd hurt you like that."
Weirdly deep comment to hear while you're holding an ice cream cone. "...Are you trying to convince me you didn't poison my ice cream?" That strange seriousness of his doesn't go away. You frown. "Yeah, come on, of course I know that."
He nods, "Yeah, just--" Stu won't look at you. "I wouldn't, and just--the car thing--"
"Stu." You've made those kinds of comments before, and it's never made him react like this. "I know that." You nudge his forearm gently. "I didn't mean it like."" He doesn't cheer up. "Seriously, if I thought you were trying to reverse-vehicular-manslaughter me, I wouldn't get in the car."
At that, he lets out a breath that's definitely trying not to be a laugh. "Would that be reverse-vehicular-manslaughter?"
"I don't know," you hum casually, pausing to eat some of your ice cream, "You're the one trying to do it." Stu glares; you grin. "Kidding." You bite off the top edge of your cone. "You know I love driving around with you--we listen to music, we talk, we gossip--"
"I don't gossip, you gossip and I let you."
You shake your head, not bringing up the fact that he always has more stuff worth saying than you do and he's snarkier than anyone would ever guess. "Then I guess I won't tell you what's up with Susan Welch."
To be fully honest, Stu couldn't care less about Susan Welch, but he likes the way you react to these sort of things. Your reactions to his side comments might be his favorite part of these moments. "She's...in our english class right?"
"Mhm," you hum, trying to downplay your excitement, "Remember how she had to leave class early the other day--like, practically ran out of the room to throw up?" You don't wait for him to respond, "That was on square pizza day--which is the day that's least likely to make someone throw up." You pause for the sake of your ice cream. "And Lucy Thompson swears Susan randomly stopped drinking, which if you've met her, makes no sense. So, Lucy thinks Susan might be..." You trail off before vaguely gesture to your stomach.
Stu's eyes narrow as he pretends to really think about what you've just said. "I don't know if that's enough to mean she's knocked up."
You shake your head once, "Lucy also said she's never in cheer practice anymore, and she started wearing baggy clothes." You sit up a little straighter, "And Missy Danes swears her older sister's friend saw Susan buying a pregnancy test in a grocery store two towns over. I know it's not proof, but it's definitely worth thinking about."
He widens his eyes, more for your sake than anything else, "Definitely." He pushes his spoon into his melting ice cream. "If she is pregnant, she's totally screwed because Ben Johnson was just bragging about hooking up with her."
Your mouth falls open in pretend shock, "No way." You lean against the center console. "You got oreo again, right?"
Stu knows exactly what that question means, "Want some?"
Your eyebrows draw together as you shake your head. "No, I'm--"
"We could trade for a little."
Another one of your traditions, each person's ice cream slowly becoming everyone's. "Another reason why you're my favorite."
"Oh, now you're begging me to tell Billy."
You dip the spoon into ice cream, digging for a particularly large oreo crumb. "I will blame it on the ice cream."

Oh, we love a good lore dump. I haven't actually played the first two games yet and I'm not super knowledgeable about Forgotten Realms lore, so I don't have a huge amount to say about most of this, but it is fascinating.
In Larian's defence I will say that they weren't the ones who decided Bhaalspawn age; Murder in Baldur's Gate shows that the Forgotten Realms canon version of Gorion's Ward is definitely not physically twenty anymore (at least according to the wiki), even if he is unusually long-lived for a human, so Sarevok aging is in line with WotC's canon even if that canon makes no sense and contradicts itself.
I honestly don't think there was a perfect way to make Durge Bhaalspawn. I mean, if Bhaal's imprisoned he can't father them the normal way; him crafting them out of his own essence in some way (not actually sure if characters are speaking literally or metaphorically when they talk about Durge being crafted from his gore) if nothing else doesn't make less sense than him somehow fathering a child while dead/imprisoned/whatever. Assuming the timeline established via Blood in Baldur's Gate and Murder in Baldur's Gate is accurate they were around prior to his resurrection, but beyond that it's hard to say what exactly the deal was. Although him being incapacitated when he made them might actually help explain why he didn't just make them as an adult; it feels right to say it'd probably take less strength to make an infant or young child than it would to make an adult. Also personally I think so many issues would be solved if Durge wasn't... quite right for their race, like the poor copy they kind of are. Give me Bhaal filing off the serial numbers just enough that it isn't technically divine copyright infringement, it would be excellent and also pretty funny.
I kind of assumed that the Urge wasn't the same as what other Bhaalspawn get because it's not just instinct, it's a direct hold Bhaal has on them that he can use to control them? And it's not quite the same as the urge to slay Bhaal can inflict because it's always part of them, not something he has to deliberately cause? Or alternately like, he initially made them to be just the Urge but something went wrong (possibly because Bhaal was creating them in less than optimal conditions) and that's why they ended up being more than that. But again I haven't played the previous two games, so I don't know how the standard Bhaalspawn need to kill works.
I guess if Durge's soul belongs to Bhaal and there's nothing any god can do about it that explains why Jergal's solution is just... deciding that they're not going to die so long as he's around. I get the impression that if they do die of illness or injury he'll just resurrect them himself, hence why he says that death won't claim them as long as he endures. He might not intend for them to die at all, but it would be perhaps a little out of keeping for the god of fatalism to say "Nah, you're going to live forever, don't even worry about it." Also, Durge might not have to eat, sleep or breathe?! That's wild. And so very very fun, you could do so much with that. Also yeah the severe psychological damage of spending most of their life being given the choice between killing and being tortured or killed themself is probably going to have much more of an effect on Durge in the long run than any desire to kill left in them by their heritage after Bhaal ripped the Urge out of them.
Narrator: *For the first time in over a century, silence falls over the Bhaal Temple. No chants, no screams, no prayers.* Narrator: *In the end, your own death brought you more joy than any you wrought on this land. You are slipping into peaceful oblivion.* Narrator: *But your journey is not over.* Withers: Thou hast defied Bhaal, thy liege and father, and in doing so hast earned a place among champions and heroes. Withers: But, alas, thy courage was in opposition to the divine cosmology that bound thee to the Lord of Murder. Withers: Thou art now faithless - godless - and doomed to wander the Fugue Plane for eternity. Withers: I will not permit that, though all the powers of life and death dictate that it should be so. Withers: I, too, still hold some power, and I invest a portion of it in thee, who hath challenged the gods and now liveth to tell of it. Withers: Thy fight is not over, and it is thy fight, for one who can look upon Bhaal and oppose him can survive any crisis. Withers: So rise, Challenger of Gods, and prepare for battle once more. Death will not claim thee whilst I endure.
Not gonna lie: this sounds like whether or not Durge was immortal before, they sure as hell are now. I mean, "Death will not claim thee whilst I endure"? Sounds to me like they aren't going to be dying any time soon. Durge's relationship with death has been upgraded from "I'll have to ask my dad (he says no)" to "I'll have to ask my granddad (he says absolutely not under any circumstances)." Benefits (or curse) of coming from a family of death gods, I guess.
I love the imagery of a hush falling over the temple as all of this is happening. Like... based on Withers's dialogue this shouldn't be happening. Durge shouldn't be defying their father and Withers definitely shouldn't be bringing them back afterwards. From the moment Durge says no everything's gone off-script. It's also interesting that Withers says Durge defying Bhaal is in opposition to divine cosmology; keeping in mind I haven't played the first two games, I get the sense that while Bhaalspawn defying Bhaal isn't the norm it's not all that unheard of. There are two whole games about Bhaalspawn doing exactly that, actually. Then again Durge's situation is unique; possibly it's something like... as they were made from Bhaal's own gore Durge literally shouldn't be able to refuse him like that, which raises some fun questions about their life pre-amnesia. The suggestion that Durge kind of broke cosmology in defying Bhaal is very good and I'd love more details on that.
The suggestion that Durge is now entirely without a god to claim their soul on their death and will wander the Fugue Plane for eternity now that Bhaal doesn't want them is very interesting, considering that you can be a cleric and so bound to a god other than Bhaal (unless the dialogue is different under those circumstances). I guess Bhaal took priority as their father and maybe since Durge died as a direct result of him abandoning them no one else had the chance to stake a claim? But if this is just the way of things for them now and their soul can't be claimed by a god that's. not good. But then again I guess technically Jergal has it. It's fine! I really like him walking into this situation and saying "No, they don't deserve this and they're too important to this fight, I'm not letting them die like this (or at all)."
Based on what Bhaal says prior to this Durge dies less because he directly killed them and more because his divine essence was their life force, so when he ripped it out of them they had nothing to keep them going? So then what Withers is doing seems to be replacing that portion of Bhaal's divine essence with his own, giving Durge a new life force in the process (hence why they'll now endure as long as he does, since presumably if he dies that new life force will die with him). Durge may or may not thank him for that (that bit about Durge's death bringing them more joy than any they've caused hits hard, and even harder when you consider that the deaths they've caused include Ketheric and Orin and potentially include people who hurt their companions like Cazador, Gortash, Viconia...), but it seems like the divine equivalent of a heart transplant or something similar.

I watched this really cute anime movie about a deaf girl recently, and it gave me an idea I thought you might like!!
What if Tommy had a kid (how he came upon the child is irrelevant) who was deaf? Music, especially the discs are a big thing for Tommy, so itâd be a big adjustment for him to realize âOh yeah, they canât hear thisâ. He learns sign language with a LOT of help from others cause he wants to be able to communicate with his kid, and he and his kid sometimes gossip and tease people using sign language cause aside from a few basic signs, no one really knows what those two are talking about; well..maybe Tubbo knows, only cause he was the one Tommy spent the most time learning sign with.
Bonus, what if when his kidâs a little older they decide they wanna hear the discs their dad talks about, so they ask Uncle Techno to help them craft something akin to hearing aids; but yâknow with magic and stuff. And when they hear their dadâs discs for the first time they cry cause itâs even better than they ever could have imagined??
I just, I like the fluffy stuff!!
- from, an Anon Who Probably Has Cavities From All This SweetnessďżźđŹđđŤ
To Hear
Summary: Tommy cares for a deaf, child (Y/N).
Pairings:Â Â Parental! Platonic! Tommy x Deaf! Child! Reader
Warnings: Swearing
A/N: Bruh, I was so excited to make this I did in a few hours. I have been thinking about this since you sent it in. I use some elements from Lost Ones but itâs soo not canon to my story.
*Any full sentences in Italics means theyâre talking in Sign Language.*
 I hope you enjoy it âĽ
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Tommy didnât know.
    How was he supposed to?
    Heâd never met anyone that was deaf and didnât know the signs. (Y/N) was also a baby when he first got her, not exactly like she could go, hey, I canât hear.
    So, he didnât know for ages. He really didnât know what he was doing raising a baby, so when she wasnât talking by the age of one, he thought it could be a normal thing. He was worried but it could be normal! Babies werenât super smart after all.
    It was Wilbur that figured it out.
    When he had come to visit his brother and found out he had a baby, of course, they sat down and had a serious talk about it, said baby still happily playing with her toys despite the yelling earlier. After Wilbur realized his brother wasnât going to simply give up this child, especially after a year of work, he decided he might as well accept it. So, he went over to the child and sat next to her.
    âHi (Y/N).â Wilbur smiled lightly.
    The child didnât react though, having not noticed someone was next to her. Wilbur frowned slightly at this and put a hand on her arm, making her look at him now.
    âHi, little lady.â He greeted her again.
    She made little babbles to him as she turned back to her toys.
    âWhat words does she know?â Wilbur asked curiously, a small smile on his face again as he remembered when Fundy was a child.
    âUh, none yet. I canât get her to say any. She likes making sounds but not much else.â Tommy admitted.
    Wilbur looked at him surprised and Tommy knew now that this wasnât normal if Wilbur had that face.
    âYou said sheâs one, right?â
    âY-Yeah.â He nodded nervously.
    His little girl wasnât saying words and Wilbur looked concerned. Had he screwed up with his little one?
    Wilbur looked back at (Y/N) though, his mind at work.
    â(Y/N).â He said, but she once more didnât look at him. âTommy, does she ever respond to her name?â
    âI mean, sometimes. Not all the time.â
    âWhen she does respond, are you right in front of her?â Wilbur looked up at him.
    Tommy thought about it before nodding slowly. âYeah.â
    âDoes she ever get scared by your yelling? Or anyoneâs yelling for that matter. Loud noises?â
    âNot really, w-what has this got to do with anything?â Tommy questioned.
    ââŚTommy, I think (Y/N)âs deaf.â
    Tommy stood there for a moment before shaking his head. âNo, no, youâre wrong. She makes noises and things like that. She wouldnât make them if she couldnât hear them. And-And we relax to my discs all the time, they calm her down.â
    Wilbur stood up, putting a hand gently on his brotherâs shoulder. âSheâll still make sounds, but she wonât be able to form words, Tommy. She would have said any sort of word before now. She can also feel vibrations, they probably feel nice but she canât hear any of it.â
    At the moment, Tommy couldnât form words as he stared at his brother trying to deny what he said, butâŚit made sense. Tommy could never get her to respond to her name. She never really seemed to care when heâd try and teach her how to speak. When he and Tubbo were being loud, she never even flinched. Even a small moment when he had been shouting and swearing profanities when she was napping came to mind as he remembered she never even woke up to that.
    âMy babyâs deaf.â He whispered. âWhatâŚIâŚGod, how didnât I notice?!â
    âCalm down Tommy.â Wilbur took both of Tommyâs shoulders. âYouâre a smart kid and youâve been doing this for a year. You can figure it out and Iâll help you with it. Iâm sure Tubbo will too.â
    From there, it was a lot for Tommy to process. He had just gotten used to the fact he was taking care of a child; now he had to think several steps ahead and make sure he was ready when she got older. It was a shock to his best friend as well, that felt stupid too for not realizing it sooner, and they both took steps to figure it out.
    There were countless days where instead of going out and adventuring, Tubbo and Tommy practiced having sign language conversations with each other. Other days, Tommy would try and teach (Y/N) simple sign words so she could now start to ask for what she wanted. The relief he felt when she actually started to pick up was immeasurable. He nearly cried when she signed dad to him for the first time without him teaching her.
    When LâManberg was starting to be formed, he made sure everyone within their walls knew how to talk basics with his child in case she needed anything from them. Tommy never liked leaving (Y/N) with anyone but himself and Tubbo and Wilbur, but when war came, things changed and he had to make sure his baby was being taken care of properly.
    Somethings that Tommy did became said with the new thought.
    Tommy still did his daily ritual with (Y/N), sitting with her and listening to a music disc. His heart broke a little each time now though as when they listened together, he realized every time before he was the only one listening to them. She couldnât hear a single note. That frustrated him to no end some days as he wished his baby could hear such beautiful sounds but there was nothing, he could do to change it.
    Years went on. LâManberg was independent from the Dream SMP, Wilbur and Tommy were in power, Tommy had one of his discs back from Dream from a little scam, and (Y/N) was eleven years old.
    âCan we go see Uncle Tubbo?â (Y/N) asked Tommy.
    âYeah, in a bit. Got to finish writing this for Wilbur. Bitch is so lazy.â Tommy smirked before going back to writing.
    Wilbur looked over at the sounds of (Y/N)âs giggles.
    âWhat are you doing Tommy?â He asked his brother.
    âNothing Wilbur,â Tommy called to him.
    âHeâs president, tell him to get off his lazy arse.â
    Tommy had to put a hand over his mouth as Wilbur raised an eyebrow.
    âWhat did she just say? She was going too fast for me.â
    âJust a stupid joke Wilbur.â Tommy grinned as he gave (Y/N) a subtle thumbs up.
    The older man shook his head as he went back to his potions as Tommy finished writing. Putting the book away, Tommy nodded his head for the door of the van and both he and (Y/N) left. She wore her own LâManberg uniform as they walked down the path towards Tubboâs home.
    âIt still sucks his old house is gone. I liked it.â
    âYeah, but what are you going to do when you have a power-hungry green bitch?â
    (Y/N) giggled again as they got to Tubboâs house, Tommy barging in.
    âTubbo!â He called.
    Tubbo poked his head out from where he was gathering up a few things and smiled.
    âHey, Tommy! Hey (Y/N).â Tubbo greeted them.
    âHi, Uncle Tubbo. Did you get any new bees?â
    âI did, theyâre with the rest of the hive. You can go see them, just donât scare them.â
    âI know. Iâll be back dad!â
    Tommy gave her a salute and she was gone.
    âShe been doing ok?â Tubbo asked.
    âYeah, sheâs been pretty good.â Tommy grinned. âShe talked shit about Wilbur in front of him and it was pretty funny.â
    âI still canât believe you taught her to swear.â Tubbo shook his head as he went back to his chests.
    âItâs hilarious! No one else knows what weâre saying but you!â
    âThatâs because I learned with you. If I hadnât, I wouldnt know either.â Tubbo reminded him. âJack figure it out yet?â
    âNo.â Tommy rolled his eyes.
    A few of the new members of LâManberg and the Dream SMP struggled to remember (Y/N) was deaf and often startled her or would simply walk up to her and try and just simply talk. The little girl struggled with her deafness sometimes as she was different from everyone else. Tommy was always there to assure her though that she was fine the way she was.
    âBut hey, I was thinking about how to get my disc back from Skeppy,â Tommy mentioned.
    âOh yeah, what this time?â Tubbo asked.
    (Y/N) came back in smiling as Tommy and Tubbo were talking animatedly about their plan. She gave a simple clap to let them know she was there as she often did when sheâd enter a room and no one noticed. They both looked over and motioned her over, talking about their plan instead in sign so sheâd know what they were talking about.
    They were talking about the discs again and she frowned slightly. Her father loved playing discs when they were home and she liked feeling the music but she couldnât help but always wonder what it was like to listen to what her father could hear. To know why he liked them so much that Dream would take them from him.
    A few months past and (Y/N) got herself a new uncle when he settled down close by to their homeland. Technoblade had come to see what his brothers were up to and decided to stick around for a while to see if their government got out of hand. (Y/N) wasnât sure what that meant but she thought he was pretty cool.
    One of the coolest things was that he already knew rough sign language, having needed it for one of his travels. She thrilled for her father not have to teach someone once more the basics, instead Techno taught himself how to sign better and more advanced words so he could talk to her when she was around.
    She was around a decent bit of time.
    As Techno was now around, Tommy liked to spar with him and (Y/N) liked to watch her fatherâs skills at work. Alongside that, Techno told her a few stories about his travels or just stories with the sign he taught himself. He often also lent her books for her to read in her spare time.
    Tommy had never felt more grateful for his oldest brother.
    Sure, he couldnât talk shit around Techno because heâd know what he was saying, but seeing (Y/N) smile to be able to talk to someone else made up for it.
    Today though, (Y/N) had to ask Techno for a favor. All of the boys and her were at Wilburâs to just have some family time, so now was the perfect time.
    âHey Techno.â (Y/N) stood nervously in front of him as Tommy was arguing with Wilbur in the kitchen.
    âYeah?â He raised an eyebrow as he watched her.
    âYou know how to do enchantments and stuff right?â
    âYeah, I do quite a bit of it.â
    âAre you really good at it?â
    âIâd say so, why?â
    âI want to hear.â
    Techno leaned back in his seat watching her. She looked rather passionate about hearing.
    âWhy?â
    She hesitated to move her hands. âDad really likes his discs and I just.â She paused. âI want to hear what theyâre like, even for a few moments to have something more with him.â
    Techno gave a small smile as he nodded. âYeah, alright. Iâll work on something when I get home. You got to go into the kitchen right now though and curse Wilbur out.â
    âEasy! Deal!â
    A few moments later, Tommy was dying of laughter as Techno smirked in his seat as Wilbur demanded to know what (Y/N) was saying. Wilbur knew he should have been getting more lessons from Techno.
    It took Techno a few days but he managed to get small devices enchanted to hear for a few hours.
    âItâd take me a lot more work to get permanent hearing. Thatâs a long project and Iâd need some help. But these will work for a few hours before they bug out.â Techno told her as she held them in her hands, having taken her to âwatch herâ.
    âThank you so much Techno.â
    âItâs what I do. And I guess you can start calling me Uncle.â
    She grinned before putting the devices in her ears. For a moment, there was nothing, but that was because Techno made sure they were in a quiet place so she wasnât overwhelmed. He waited before speaking.
    âSo?â
    She jumped at the sound before smiling widely.
    âI can hear!â
    âGreat, letâs go see Tommy.â He said as he signed along with his words.
    She wouldnât know what each word would sound like, that would take more than a few hours, so sheâd still have to see sign but that wasnât the purpose of Technoâs work. They walked back to Tommyâs base and Techno knocked on the door as (Y/N) was looking around in amazement. Tommy flung the door open, grinning to see (Y/N) was already back.
    âYou bored her already?â Tommy laughed, (Y/N) looking over as she smiled at the sound of her fatherâs voice.
    âNo, I only needed her to see if what I made actually worked,â Techno told him as they went into the house.
    âAnd what the hell is that?â Tommy asked as he looked at (Y/N) as Technoâs back was turned. âHow stupid was it?â
    (Y/N) giggled. âYou sound pretty cool dad.â
    Tommy frowned, confused, as Techno leaned on a wall. âWhat does that mean?â
    âUncle Techno helped enchant devices that let me hear for a few hours.â
    Tommy stood frozen for a moment before he snapped his head to Techno.
    âIs she serious?â He asked.
    âDead serious.â Techno nodded.
    Tommy looked at (Y/N) and grinned, hugging her tightly.
    âYou can hear!â He laughed, making (Y/N) cringe. âOops, right. Youâre not used to that.â
    âIâm ok.â She told him figuring he was feeling guilty.
    âShe wonât understand words, remember.â Techno reminded his brother.
    âRight.â Tommy nodded. âThereâs so many sounds you should hear. I donât know where to start!â
    âWell, I asked Uncle Techno so I could hear your discs.â
    Tommyâs eyes went wide before he grinned taking (Y/N)âs hand and pulling her to the jukebox outside.
    âWait right here.â He instructed her as he rushed back inside, Techno coming out lazily with a smile.
    Tommy ran back with a familiar purple and white-colored disc. He rested it on the jukebox before speaking to (Y/N).
    âThis is Mellohi. Itâs the disc I gave to Dream before I got it back. One of the discs I played for you all the time when you were a baby before I knew and even after. This is one of our discs.â
    Tommy picked up the disc again, taking a deep breath before putting it on. He sat next to (Y/N) on the bench as the song started to play. (Y/N) sat in amazement as she felt the familiar vibrations but also heard the sound it made. Tommy had such a wide smile as he wiped the corner of his eyes of tears as he watched (Y/N)âs reaction to one of their discs.
    She begged him to put on another and Tommy gladly brought out the rest of his collection, Techno having long ago left to see his mission accomplished. They spent those hours they had listening to their discs, Tommy telling Tubbo at one point and the other boy joining the two of them. The trio sat there until the enchantment ran out, but Tommy couldnât be happier.
    His baby had heard their discs and he swore to himself that heâd help Techno with whatever he needed to make it permanent.
Apologies if this is super niche, I'm a Mylo apologist and everything he does interests me. How are Mylo and Claggor in your Zaun family au? Cause like, a while back you mentioned that all of Silco's births were high risk/should have been C-section, so did the younger boys have any birth injuries/issues like Viktor did? Also, do you think Mylo gets tired of constantly getting asked what's up with the familial line cause he looks nothing like either of his parents, lol. I reckon most people just think at first glance he's adopted but nope, just funny genetics sorta thing
Not too niche at all.
And yeah Mylo is one of those genetic throwbacks. I feel like he looks EXACTLY like one of his grandparents though. Which doesn't help with random strangers wondering but Vander & Silco never have any doubts (not that they would seeing they made him but you know). I do think adoptions is pretty normal in Zaun so people so even if people assume Mylo isnât Vander & Silcoâs biologically theyâre not going to comment because... heâs one of Vander & Silcoâs kids (same applies to Vi & Powder).Â
Mylo is actually worse off than he is in canon. Because he is the youngest biologically speaking, he SHOULD be the baby of the family (he WAS the baby for 4 years). But NO Powder is. Plus he's really awkwardly positioned age wise - Vi and Claggor are so close in age that they get along really well and want to play with each other. And Mylo wants to play with them but they don't want to play with him because he's ~2 years younger than them. And he doesn't want to play with Powder because she's... 2 years younger than him. And he tends to get into trouble the most because of that placing (Vi & Claggor will dob on him or pin things on him because they're older so can outsmart him and... Powder is the baby that can do no wrong in their parents eyes or if she does wrong than her older siblings should have done something to stop her). All of that just leads to a level of bubbling resentment and look I'm not surprised Mylo is kind of an asshole, especially to Powder. He's got it rough.
He does grow out of it (he finds his place in the family and world and what makes him stand out so he feels a lot less In Competition with his siblings) but as a kid he is a struggling and lashes out as a result. He goes more the trying to get Zaun into a governable state where people have the ability to live to their full potential. Because turns out spending his childhood feeling like he's at the bottom of the family hierarchy has left him pretty passionate about that kind of thing.
Claggor on the other hand is the happy middle child. He likes how he can somewhat fly under the radar and doesn't have the expectations/pressures the older two have nor the babying Powder gets. Funnily enough I think he grows up to follow Silco in the more political space - he grew up as the mediator within the younger four so trying to get highly passionate people to come to agreement or providing as impartial as possible advice doesn't feel all that different to him.
Some birth trauma stuff under the cut.
So Claggor was a BIG baby. Like 11 pound-something big (for reference the average baby weight at birth is typically between 6-8 pound with 7 pound-something being the sweet spot; the world record for vaginal delivery where both survive is 15 pounds 7 ounces from what I can find, apparently 1% of births are over 10 pound). And it was a long labour and delivery as a result - 2 full days of true labour (typically if you aren't close to being done within 24 hours you get a C-section in what I understand to be the modern convention), with at least 4-5 hours of pushing (3 hours is typically considered the max especially if you haven't had an epidural). So I do think Claggor has some breathing/oxygen issues at first just because of the prolonged face squishing and decreased blood flow through the placenta that happens with that long of a delivery but he did get through it and seemed fine. Probably has some long term health issues tied to it though (I want to say vision impairments and epilepsy) but nothing they can directly-directly pin on it.
Mylo was the deceptive pregnancy and birth. Everything was going fine and then Silco lost a bit more blood than he should afterwards. Like a worrying bit more blood with possibly an actual doctor involved (they did somewhat learn their lesson after the other two and probably have enough power/money to afford a doctor even if not a fancy Piltoven doctor with their hospital equipment). So Mylo was a perfectly healthy and fine baby. Just... Silco still ended up with a two-day-recovery-from-Shock afterwards.Â
Sambucky writing prompts
Because I have a lot of ideas and no ability to focus on writing any of them right now... so I might as well share. Feel free to use any of these. You can tag me or send a link if you want to. (Unless it's âa story about poor, sad Bucky... and Sam is kinda there to helpâ type of fanfiction, bacause I love Sam too much to read something like that.)
Let's go!
---
1. Both Sam and Bucky are trained to be Winter Soldiers at the same time. On one of the shared missions they accidentally form a connection which helps them with slowly getting their memories back, so they can escape together.
2. The Winter Soldier is sent to kill one Samuel Thomas Wilson, but for some reason he just cannot do it. (Or he almost did and regrets it immediately.)
3. Bucky's a mechanic that Sam called to help with repairing the boat and he works very slowly on purpose to have an excuse to see Sam more often.
4. Sam can actually talk to birds (as he should!) and they start to be annoying always asking about his dating life.
5. Sam is a literal angel. That's the prompt. (And canon.)
6. Sam and Bucky go on long, separate vacation. But they somehow end up in the same country, the same town, and the same hotel. Probably the same room too. What a surprise...
7. Bucky knows a lot of things about Sam and Sam is sure he never told him about any of that. Turns out Bucky migh have done some research between 2014 and 2016 when Sam was looking for him.
8. Sam discovers that Bucky had something to do with picking the designs for his new superhero suit.
9. Bucky finally tries to bond with Redwing and Sam does a very bad job at pretending heâs not amused.
10. Bucky has to deal with a painful realisation that Sam is not a supersoldier and that no matter how strong he is he'll always be more likely to get seriously hurt on their missions.
----- ------- -----
11. When they are frustrated Bucky starts to speak Russian and Sam responds to him in Arabic which doesn't solve the initial problem, but at least it's funny. (Bonus points if one of them - or both - pretends to not now the language the other one's speaking.)
12. Bucky has a terrible reputation and looks dangerous, so everyone prefers to avoid him, but then he meets Sam who just makes fun of his edgy persona all the time... and Bucky for some gay reason lets him. Everyone else is just very confused and worried about Samâs safety. (Probably some University/High School AU.)
13. [Itâs more like an art prompt, but whatever.] They both have long hair now. No plot. Just both of them being in love and appreciating how handsome the other one looks.
14. Since both Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan exist in the MCU canon Iâd love to see Sam and Buckyâs reactions to their actors being on screen when they watch movies together.
15. Bucky didnât have much experience with dating since 1940s and he thought heâd be the awkward one once he and Sam get together, but it turns out Sam was never in any relationship, because he was too busy and neglected that part of his life.
16. They both have the canon skills/powers, but only one of them is a superhero. The other is âtheirâ villain. So still enemies to lovers, but a different flavour.
17. Sam always had the ability to talk to birds. He just... forgot to mention it before to other people, including Bucky. So the power-reveal is quite unexpected.
18. Sam and Bucky literally hate each other â itâs not just their canon-like amused annoyance. But then they start to learn what happened to the other one in the past and the feelings slowly shift from hatered into something else. (Might be a No Powers AU)
19. Sam thinks that Bucky misses the 40s. Well, heâs wrong.
20. Sam is a regular civilian (who never met Steve). He finds Bucky right after he escaped HYDRA and helps him go back to normal life. (He might know who heâs helping or not.)
----- ------- -----
21. Bucky learns about Riley, but he doesnât learn it directly from Sam.
22. Sam and Bucky come back after the Blip, see each other, and try to deal with the situation together, no knowing what has just happened.
23. Bucky explains to Steve why he wonât go back to the past with him. Itâs mostly because of Sam, obviously.
24. A story about Sam and Bucky growing apart between Endgame and tfatws and how they dealt with feeling like theyâre losing yet another person so soon. (And about them coming bact to each other again.)
25. Sam and Bucky learn how other people around them see their relationship. It doesnât really mirror how they see this partnership themselves.
26. A classic role-swap. Sam is the Winter Soldier. Buckyâs the Falcon. Their personalities stay exactly the same.
27. Sam and Bucky try to tell someone who knows almost nothing about them how they met. (They lie or they donât.)
28. Bucky deals with people who are openly against Sam as the new Captain. Sam deals with people who think Bucky should be locked up for being âwithâ HYDRA in the past.
29. Sam is still The Falcon and later Captain America, but Buckyâs a regular person who also happens to be Samâs huge fan.
30. Dr. Raynor said she heard a lot about Sam (presumably from Bucky). But what exactly did Bucky tell her?
----- ------- -----
31. Only one of them died after the Snap. The other one has to live for five years, hoping theyâll be able to reverse it.
32. The first time Sam and Bucky saw each other: scared, feeling exhausted, really happy, genuinely laughing, truly angry, crying, completely resigned, flustered, shy.
33. After being frozen in Wakanda Bucky lost all memories related to Sam. Sam has to decide whether he should use the opportunity to start the relationship over or let Bucky know about their less-than-ideal beginnings.
34. Sam accidentally gets super-serum. Bucky helps him with adjusting.
35. Bucky accidentally loses super-serum. Sam helps him with adjusting.
36. Sam used to visit Wakanda when Bucky was frozen and talked to him a lot, even when Bucky couldnât hear him. (Well, couldnât he?)
37. They have a conversation about Steve, but itâs Sam telling Bucky stories from their friendship (how they met, what they did as fugatives, how Sam feels about Steve leaving without saying goodbye).
38. Sam and Bucky use time travel (because they survived the Snap or for other reasons) and they see the past versions of themselves alone or interacting with each other.
39. Sam and Bucky are stuck in Soul Stone together. The problem is that they cannot really hide their emotions or memories as well as they would be able to as real people.
40. After disappearing in the Snap Sam gets a chance to talk to Riley. They know Sam will eventually come back to life, but they still can spend time together and get some closure that will help with moving Samâs relationship with Bucky forward.
Are you into my hero academia? What about an AU or crossover with tua?
UHHHH I am technically, like, peripherally? I watched some seasons of the show like two or three years ago and since then have simply absorbed all content through osmosis, reading fanfiction that has canon events, and my sister telling me about the arcs of her fav characters lmao
so a crossover hmmm
First of all you'd have to like, establish whether bnha is an alternate universe or just The Future If No Apocalypse with quirks being traced back to the descendants of the kids born without mothers
So let's say it's that - the glowing baby was the "first quirk" but the truth is people had powers before that. But - well, the Umbrella Academy was obviously a marketing gimmick to those in the future! There were even comics based on them
In the future, you might find some of those comics in museum exhibits dedicated to depictions of powers in the pre-quirk era, but they're just fun depictions and much less popular than, oh, DC or MCU comics which are also in the exhibits!
End of s2 doesn't happen I guess in this au?? No sparrow academy at least lmao. So, the Umbrella Academy stop the apocalypse (again) and the Commission threat is? Neutralized? Whatever. They decide to jump back to the future
Five warns them that time travel is a crapshoot, that he has no fucking idea when they'll land beyond some nebulous "future" because Five can at least control the direction if not exactly how long
Also, Five is like. Super tired. Incredibly tired. Homeboy still has a healing gut wound, time traveled twice, has been jumping all over the place, gotten even more injured, experienced paradox psychosis, and managed to undo time all in the space of like, two weeks. There actually more than that but we don't have time to get into how fucking tired Five is from his ~Month of Hell
Like genuinely this is like putting someone almost delirious from lack of sleep in the driver's seat of a car and expecting to get to your destination in one piece
But hey, the siblings are like "do it uwu" and Five has sacrificed everything for them already so why not get behind the wheel again
So Five jumps them, and of course something goes wrong because Five has pushed his powers like a great big rubber band and honestly it was only a matter of time before he lost his grip and it snapped back to hit him
So here be the umbrella academy: spilled out into the future like a cup of bad coffee.
Five probably isn't in too good of shape tbh, like they're hundreds of years in the future (but hey at least confirmation of no apocalypse am I right) in a world full of superpowers and Five is like. bleeding from his ears and nose probably idk
Let's handwave a little bit - Reginald made them all polyglots so the squad all speak varying levels of Japanese. Allison is the best at it, Five is second best but tends to use more archaic words bc he had missions in Japan back when he was with the commission, and Klaus is third best.
(Ben is the worst bc he decided when he was 16-and-dead that he didn't have to do anything regarding lessons and maintenance and hasn't given a shit since - but also he's dead so)
So you have a bunch of weird adults with a bleeding child in like, an alley who have appeared from nowhere
so of course heroes get involved
Anyway, the squad get taken in and Five is conscious but like, barely? And he's not going to let himself get separated from his siblings again fuck-you-officer and there is a lot of confusion
anyway detective tsukauchi ends up getting involved and ends up having to hear this batshit story and be like "...truth." which sends all kinds of people scrambling because fucking time travel? Like yeah, it's been theorized to be a possible quirk but there's no recorded cases of any sort of time travel that is for more than 24 hours let alone hundreds of years
"I'm an adult." Five says sourly, "I just happened to be returned to my 13 year old body when I time traveled one time."
"True." Tsukauchi says, feeling his soul leave his body, but like. absently. the way he does when he's called in at 2am after getting off of work at midnight.
"I'm 58." Five says.
"Lie." Tsukauchi says, because this is a headcanon hill I will die on.
"I'm probably 58, but it was hard to keep track. I'm at least 50." Five corrects.
"True." Tsukauchi sighs like these six (seven? they keep referring to another sibling and Klaus said 'ghost' like that was fine and it registered as true and Tsukauchi is not nearly paid enough for this) are not giving him a migraine by just existing
on the bright side there's like, probably protocols in place for individuals who are Legally Chronologically Adults but thanks to quirks are Not Physically Or Not Mentally Adults with tests to determine if the individual needs a guardian or not
though i'm gonna be honest idk if Five would pass the test bc he literally cannot take care of himself at all, has never paid taxes or understands how to exist legally, and also his emotional maturity is stunted as all hell. also like. we don't actually know how much being in his thirteen-year-old body affects his mental state but yeAH Five is vibing
anyway Tsukauchi probably phones a friend on this bullshit because Time Travel Child alone is probably enough for the Hero Commission to be like "find a way to control and use it or nuke it from orbit" and that's not even touching whatever the fuck Klaus is doing (shit gets real once 'dead men tell no tales' stops being true) let ALONE Allison's whole deal
on the bright side like, at least Vanya isn't getting side-eyed that much bc Big Destructive Quirks aren't exactly unknown? if vanya wanted to i guess quirk suppressors exist for that until extensive training on how to control a super powerful quirk happens
Tsukauchi in the group chat: Aizawa please I am literally begging you to take this bullshit on
Aizawa: in this economy? with my class?
RatGod: lol we'll take them ;3c
Aizawa: no
Anyway they probably end up having to live at UA while Five insists on trying to get them home still and everyone else is like "oh hey we used to be child soldiers as well! (:" and Aizawa is like "i hate everything about this and everything about all of you but also like nedzu is making me interact with you so :/"
nedzu is out here vibing like "lol i just don't want the hero commission to get their little paws on these time traveling fuckers, i think you should make then teaching assistants or something"
honestly the siblings are probably like. figuring out how to function in the bnha universe and getting like, legally registered and stuff while Five ferally refuses bc that's like saying he's giving up on getting them home and he can do this
Recovery girl tries to heal him a little when he arrives and he passes out for two weeks like, immediately bc homeboy is running on fumes and spite at this point
also i think on principle it would be REALLY FUNNY if the squad got to tag along with the class bc like. Five is thirteen and the class are all 15. this does not sound like a large age gap. anyone who has interacted with teenagers know that the class would squint at Five and be like "who is this sassy lost middle schooler."
I feel like when I was a sophomore we were still like "freshman... babie" even though we were literally only one year older.
i think the difference between the umbrella academy and school kids would be pretty funny like. objectively the bnha kids are lowkey child soldiers?? like they're 15 and fighting villains but like, there's all this red tape and laws and stuff but,,, deku still be breaking his limbs in a child fighting ring against equally superpowered children for like. entertainment and sponsorships sooo
but also like Five would be like "oh cool when is the experimentation class"
"the what"
"you know, when your powers are pushed real hard by putting you in different terrible situations while your dad and sibling stand by with clipboards writing down the exact voltage it takes before you can't use your powers anymore when being electrocuted"
"hound dog's office is right there. therapy is available to you at any time. i need you to know this."
all might calls Luther "my boy" like one (1) time and Luther just breaks down crying probably because he is starved for positive attention
klaus and midnight get along like a literal house on fire, aizawa tried his best to keep them apart for as long as possible but god damn
(klaus: your name is shimura nana??
all might: immediately dies choking on blood)
i feel it absolutely necessary to point out that aizawa, present mic, and midnight are all like, 30? and the umbrella academy are all between 29-early 30s? they are PEERS but like. the umbrella academy are more chaotic due to childhood trauma
the umbrella academy probably get offered to like. also train to be heroes. i mean,, there HAS to be some sort of track for people who change careers right?? you don't have to cement your future as a hero when you're 15 i'm sure there must be something and the squad already have experience if they want to go be legal heroes
diego probably does at least?? diego just vibes honestly. diego gets momo to make knives during a team exercise and they just go feral on everyone else and it ends with diego highfiving momo and someone getting way to close to being stabbed for comfort
Five might just be. legally enrolled as an Actual Student? But also i think it's funny to picture the entire squad just. all in the back of the classroom with luther trying to fit into a high school desk as they take notes on the laws of The Future surrounding heroics
every word out of the umbrella academy's mouths just make everyone more concerned on principal but like, five and klaus are probably the worst offenders. Klaus just says whatever comes to mind with no filter and Five doesn't get what people would consider to be abnormal anymore like
Five: yeah our dad bought us when we were babies and experimented on us throughout our childhood in order to make an elite team of child soldiers superheroes, it happens
Todoroki: ...have you heard of quirk marriages?
izuku probably has an aneurism bc he's is the only person who might recognize them from the comics because you know ya boy extensively researched the idea of heroics in pre-quirk eras (batman was an inspiration alright???) and might dredge up a memory of a less popular comic series
Five: I can time travel but it is very hard, which is why we are hundreds of years in the future. And why I look like a child.
Kaminari: so are you a kid or not?
Five, serenely: whatever is most convenient for me at any given moment
Mina: hell yeah game the system
they have a brief lesson on astronomy and Luther raises his hand like "ooh! i was isolated on the moon for four years and did SO MUCH research" and then just gets up and starts infodumping like way too much information on the moon
Izuku sitting there like "damn if quirks hadn't popped up we could have achieved so much in terms of space travel. please tell me more giant man who lived in pre-quirk era."
Vanya finds out about the quirkless and is like "oh mood that genuinely sounds like my childhood, being ordinary in a house full of extraordinary people, and then i found out that i did have powers but only much later in life after i had already been emotionally scarred by the experience"
deku: vanya we have so much in common
iida and uraraka: concerned noises
aizawa: hound dog. therapy with hound dog for all of you.
there's probably some conflict with like, the hero commission wanting to get their hands on the time travelers?? but probably especially five and klaus as a) time travel and b) ghosts (the hc def has bodies they would like to stay buried)
five has a pavlovian reaction to anything with 'commission' in the name and hates them on site, probably plays into his age in order to become a ward of UA or something to protect him from the commission a little bit.
(this makes nedzu Five's legal guardian. aizawa has his resignation papers all prepped in a drawer marked 'in case of emergency' but let's be real, if nedzu wants to take over the world aizawa should probably be on the rat-bear's side of things :/)
five: ah, i do recall the inhumane experimentation that we were subjected to
nedzu, who was experimented on: haha same hat! want me to dig up the location of reginald hargreeves's remains so you can spit on them?
klaus: nah no worries we dumped them out in the courtyard unceremoniously like, a while back. how long ago varies for each of us because of time travel!
luther: you said hound dog's office was down the hall and to the right?
on the bright side, Luther probably feels like. way less self conscious about his body, partially bc of his fighting and all that in the 60s but also bc !! now he genuinely doesn't feel like a freak. no one even gives him a second glance. one of the teachers looks like a slab of cement with a face. gang orca looks Like That. there is literally a student with an entire bird head and goth aesthetic. Luther does not stick out at all
allison and shinso bond over having "villainous" voice-based quirks
allison and shinso having worn muzzles at some point in their youth as punishment đ¤
aizawa probably helps train vanya as well with the whole, being able to erase a world ending quirk safely thing he's got going on which makes for a very nice safety net
i don't think vanya would want to be a hero at the end of things though. maybe the assistant teacher in the music class or something?? all vanya wants is to be able to not end the world
i feel like as time goes by, five brings up trying to get home less and less. part of that is because like,,, genuinely what do they have to go back to?? Allison has Claire, but like. I'm 100% sure the first thing she did in the future was try track down Claire's records and found out Claire was like. fine. became an adult, had a family, probably became the ancestor of the first "quirked" kids who officially popped up after light baby. had a good life, died at an old age etc. etc.
they start settling into the bnha world with like, "we can always hop aboard the five express into where the fuck ever" as a plan Z if things go completely pear shaped (again)
i'mma be real, five himself doesn't give a fuck as long as there is a) no apocalypse and b) his family is alive. Like that's it. His bar is so incredibly low and yet his life keeps fucking trying to limbo under it
i just think it would be funny to have like, Five trying to get along with his "peers" and make friends while the siblings do the same but like, in the staff room
also think it would be funny for five to just walk into the staff room and get coffee occasionally.
a teacher: why is a student in here -
Five, sipping coffee: i'm an adult
nedzu like "what kind of guardian would i be if i didn't teach my new son all the tunnels around ua so he can pop out wherever"
five like "hey new dad can i put stashes of supplies all around ua of weapons, money, food, and other assorted things that might be useful if one needed to fight or make a run for it" and nedzu is like "haha just put your list of what supplies you want in your go bags on my desk and i'll critique it later!"
anyway a bnha/tua crossover would be incredibly chaotic but probably very funny
#long post#far tua long#tua bnha crossover#what kind of disaster is this#there are so many characters in bnha to even consider#there is no more apocalypse so five either chills the fuck out or his paranoia ramps up to an eleven#or both!#five teleporting into nedzu's office like: hey i wrote a 52 page potential contingency plan for if x happens#and nedzu is like 'wonderful!' and gives it back to five the next day with corrections and critiques in red ink#klaus ben and ghost!nana get along like a house on fire even if she keeps telling klaus that he's too skinny#ben: klaus is an absolute fucking idiot with zero braincells#nana nodding sagely while looking at all might: ah yes i know the exact type#diego and snipe become absolute bros like ride or die because why not#luther gets positive reinforcement and goes to therapy#also thirteen listens patiently to luther infodumping about space because i think that would be nice#five is either like 'i'm only thirteen uwu' or 'i'm fifty eight' and there is nothing in between - only what is most convenient#i feel like kaminari and mina vibe with five's brand of chaos#iida doesn't know whether to murder five for being a gremlin and disobeying so many rules or to be respectful bc five is technically old#aizawa is SO TIRED y'all#aizawa thinks vanya is going to be the good hargreeves but PSYCHE all the hargreeves are equally chaotic in different ways#five calls nedzu 'dad' for the sole reason that it makes every teacher and/or hero in earshot cringe in automatic fear#klaus also calls nedzu dad because he just thinks it's funny#five and nedzu have similar coping mechanisms so they vibe but nedzu also vibes with klaus's sense of chaotic humor#five gets talked into healthier coping mechanisms by way of 'keeping his cover' or 'preventing the hc from getting their hands on you'#aka five is not allowed to drink alcohol#five HAS gone to midnight and been like 'hey teach knock me the fuck out my brain is working overdrive and i need to not be awake anymore'
Hey! I have a really loud and particular laugh that seems to carry quite literally throughout my house and there have been many times people have bought it up with me (I canât help it my laugh is just loud & contagious!!). Could I request the bros reaction to MC who quite literally is unable to laugh quietly and ends up being heard through the whole of the house? Thank you!đĽ°
This is so sweet, geez imma get cavities. I also have a very loud laugh and I startle people a lot when I start laughing so I get what you mean!
These HCs are probably written a lot better because suddenly Iâm full energy and motivation-
âââââââââââââââ
The Brothers with an MC who has a loud and particular laugh:
Lucifer:
-Heâll never admit it but whenever you start laughing or even smiling, he canât really stop himself from doing it too
-Like, he looks at you as you start cackling about a funny meme Levi just showed you and heâs holding back a smile-
-Because, even though you have such a loud and some would say âobnoxiousâ laugh, he thinks you just sound so precious
-He really struggles to show that heâs not affected by you as much as he actually is
-Even if you start laughing at an inappropriate time, heâd likely not even tell you off properly
- Would never say anything of the sort to your face, but he low-key admires you
-He thinks itâs amazing that a simple human like you that has experienced so many horrible things every since they arrived in literal hell, can have the ability to laugh so heartily even now
-If youâre in public and start doing your boisterous laugh, he will keep a stoic expression on his face
-Thereâs a hint of a blush on his cheeks if you look close enough, though I doubt anyone is crazy enough to point it out
-In private though? Appreciate these moments yâall, because itâs one of the few rare times youâll see him laugh freely
-Even when heâs around his brothers and trying to keep a straight face, you can see his lips threatening to curve upwards
-Basically, he thinks youâre baby and your laugh makes him feel at ease
Mammon:
-I head canon that he also has a very particular laugh because he gives off those kind of vibes
-He probably doesnât even notice how loud you are when you start wheezing
-Normally, heâd join in and start laughing with you as the rest of the brothers take out their sound blocking ear muffs for the third time that day
-You two are loud ok?
-Poor Lucifer who not only has insomnia and is a workaholic, he also has two idiots giggling to themselves in the middle of the night
-When I said Mammon is trying to get a laugh out of you any hour of the day
-I mean any hour
-He will wake you up to just hear your voice and then proceed to run out as you start yelling at him
-Even if he were to notice it, the worst reaction youâre gonna get out of him is a bit of teasing
-âYa sound like youâre dyinâ over there human. You alright?â
-When in reality, heâs even more smitten with you because your laugh is just another one of your amazing qualities
-Mammon does the stupidest shit in front of you to make you and hear you laugh because it warms his heart
-Even if he wouldnât admit it, to you or to himself
-The only time he âdoesnât likeâ it when you laugh is if youâre poking fun at him with his brothers
-That gets him all huffy puffy and sad
-For a minute, before heâs thrown himself onto you again
-Greedy for money and greedy for affection of course
Levi:
-ohcrapohcrapohcrapohcrap
-âYOU SOUND JUST LIKE THE MAIN CHARACATERâS LOVE INTEREST FROM THIS NEW ANIME IâM WATCHING! ITâS CALLED: PEOPLE KEEP TELLING ME IâM IN LOVE WITH MY BEST FRIEND BUT IâM ACTUALLY NOT, THOUGH WHOA THEY HAVE SUCH A PRETTY LAUGH!â
-Catch him rambling about it for five minutes straight
-Before stopping abruptly, flushing from head to toe and starting to stutter like he forgot how to speak
-This usually has you laughing again, in a more sympathetic and encouraging way and he just...dies
-He doesnât like his laugh, at all
-He thinks it sounds really awkward and tense
-So heâs low-key jealous about your rather impulsive laugh because itâs so sweet??? And amazing and cute??? Just like you???
-But at the same time, itâs hard for him to be jealous of it when he loves it so much
-Why do you think he keeps coming to you whenever he finds funny memes or compilations online???
-âI donât expect a normie like you to understand but look at this.â
-He gets a stupidly cute kick out of knowing that he is the one making you laugh
-I suggest trying not to laugh too much while heâs playing video games because your laugh distracts him so much
-And he will throw his headset at you
-Affectionately of course
Satan:
-He doesnât give much of a reaction besides a quirked eyebrow and a quiet âOh?â
-Sure, he doesnât really like it when his brothers are being noisy either because theyâre laughing too loudly or because they are fighting gladiator style outside his room
-But youâre the exception
-The only person in that household that could get away with interrupting his reading/work is you
-May come as a surprise to some, but sometimes Satan does get worried for you
-If he hasnât seen you in a while he might start thinking that something is wrong
-But then heâd hear you laughing from downstairs and heâd smile and think âEh theyâre alright.â
-He thinks your laugh sounds so much more endearing than his own psychotic laugh đĽ°đĽ°đĽ°
-Will throw one of his precious books at any of his brothers if they make fun of the way you laugh
-Basically, he has the biggest heart eyes for you but heâs too good at hiding it
-Laugh with him whenever something embarrassing happens to Lucifer and he will be so pleased and happy for the rest of the day
Asmo:
-âMC my dear, has anyone mentioned what a wonderfully charming laugh you have? And that says something coming from me.â
-Asmo also has a very noticeable laugh
-Not exactly loud but it could be considered obnoxious (to his brothers) and he giggles all the time when heâs very excited
-Having Asmodeous as your partner is basically the same thing as dating your best friend
-Despite being the Avatar of Lust, your relationship with him is super healthy and even he takes comfort in that
-Youâd both be chuckling to yourselves in Majolish or something because this bĂŻtch is hilarious if he wants to be
-âOh my Lord Diavolo! MC, look! I found the perfect outfit for Mammon!!â
-And itâs a Disney princess dress the size of a fuckn toddler
-You guys laughed so hard you got kicked out >:(
-But you ended up buying that dress for Mammon anyway lmaoo
-Spending too much time with Asmo is similar to the whole âIâm trying to be quiet in class but me and my friend keep laughing every time we look at each otherâ
-The way both of you have to strain yourselves from full on cackling when Lucifer has a go at either of you đ
-Except you seriously canât laugh because you will be â¨murderedâ¨
-âWhat do you mEAN YOU DONâT LIKE YOUR LAUGH, YOUR LAUGH IS GORGEOUS! NOT AS GORGEOUS AS MINE OBVIOUSLY BUT IT EASILY COMES IN SECOND!â
-Thatâs the kind of hype he gives you all day every day
Beel:
-The first time he properly heard you laugh was when you started making puns and you were laughing like crazy at your own jokes (samesies)
-And he just loves seeing you this happy because he gets happy and then he doesnât even want to eat anymore, he just wants to hug you
-âI like your laugh. Do it again for me?â
-Your heart went doki doki
-Itâs common for Beel to make you all flustered without meaning to and then you nervously start laughing again because you feel so awkward
-BUT your face brightens up so much when you start laughing or even smiling and he canât help himself from complimenting you
-Your joyous and loud chuckles always cheer him up
-To the point where he completely forgets how hungry he is
-Took you a while to figure this one out but his mood sort of changes with yours??
-If youâre visibly sadder than usual, he his morale is also surprisingly low and he starts eating more than usual
-In comparison to when youâre all bubbly and doing that beautiful laugh of yours and he gets like these butterflies in his stomach instead of the usual pangs of pain and hunger
-So now he just wants to hear your voice in general on repeat for the rest of eternity
-Im not crying you are
Belphie:
-âYouâre too loud dumbass, Iâm tryinâ to nap here.â
-Will deadass throw a pillow at your face if you wake him up
-Like hes so rude and for what?
-He loves you and your annoying as fuck laugh, he really does I promise
-Itâs a special, unique part of you and all that sappy crap
-But keep it up and you will have a very cranky boyfriend to deal with for the rest of the month
-He can be such an ass at times if heâs in a bad mood
-âI should tape your mouth shut.â
-âKinky-â
-âShut up.â
-But as much as he hates being woken up by somebody else, he would much prefer waking up to your voice rather anyone elseâs
-You usually wake him up in the mornings to get ready for RAD and you start giggling every time he pulls a face at you and complains that he doesnât wanna
-âWhat are you? An alarm clock?â
-And then he just sort of pulls you to him and goes with a completely straight face:
-âYouâre annoying but you can be my alarm clock if you want to.â
-Heâs either flirting or is so sleepy heâs being unusually soft hELP
âââââââââ-
Thank you for reading! And for all the reblogs and follows. You guys donât even know how much I appreciate your support. Especially at times when Iâm not as motivated to write and now that the fandom has fizzled out a bit.
Also imma have to make a master list soon or something
out of curiosity what do you think of the characterization of homura in rebellion? i hugely dislike it but get the impression you enjoy it which i think is interesting cuz we seem to have very similar thoughts on homura pre-rebellion (CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG)
THIS IS INTERESTING BECAUSE IT DEPENDS ON WHAT FLAVOR OF REBELLION HOMURA YOU MEAN. i really really like the way she was done in the first half of the movie but as for the twist at the end...? mmm...
...okay, so... i've been thinking about saying this at some point but i keep avoiding it in fear of causing discourse and such bc... this is a really unpopular opinion apparently, but I really do not think devil homura was done properly. read under the cut if you wanna know why i feel this way!
the first issue i'm going to address is that there wasn't NEARLY enough buildup for it. i'm going to explain this from the perspective of a first-time viewer: what would you have thought would happen after the very last scene of rebellion leading up to them breaking homura out of her soul gem? when homulilly got purified and the flowers on her head turned to sakura flowers (y'know, the flowers that symbolize life and rebirth, homura being reborn from her witch)? did you think homura was suddenly gonna undermine madoka's godliness? because, uh, first-view me did not think that at all. and neither did almost anyone i know who watched it for the first time. not only is that poor setup but it's just so sudden and it feels so out of character compared to what we'd seen in the entire series as a whole, especially considering that the entire last part of the movie leading up until that was about purifying her... and saving her... there wasn't enough buildup. most people are like "but the flower scene happened!" but that's still way too vague...? it's hard to tell what conclusion homura comes to at the end, because we don't get to see any of her internal monologue... there is no other buildup after the flower scene... it just skips to homura realizing she's a witch. wouldn't that bring the viewer to think the flower scene was something that made homura realize she was a witch rather than her suddenly starting to form her plan? it always felt like to me the conclusion homura came to at the end of the flower scene was that she was validating madoka's bravery and telling her that if it ever came to that, she'd have the ability to make that hard decision. which is... so... weird? because i always interpreted that as homura coming to terms with what happened? i could just be interpreting it wrong though, but isn't that supposed to be our proof scene? our buildup scene? why would they make it so hard to understand? we need to know such important buildup points just as blatantly as the natural buildup to homura becoming a witch was. that's just from a moviemaking & writing perspective though.
secondly, i'm gonna discuss homura's motive. i actually ended up understanding were she was coming from after a while of being like "what the hell that makes zero sense!!!!". madoka is a 14-year-old girl who, in order to save the fate of every magical girl, literally had to sacrifice herself and erase herself from the world, and in the end, madoka just ended up saving homura again, and that must've made homura feel like her promise with madoka was never fulfilled. it's unfair what happened when you think about it and the law of cycles should not have been run by madoka herself because she, as any other 14 year old, deserves to be happy on earth. although it was said in magireco that madoka felt happy with what she was doing (and she felt like it truly gave her a purpose), she did admit to feeling lonely and homura probably made that assumption big time. but the way the writers went about it just made her seem so sinister... so out-of-character-ly sinister. what with the evil smirking and the deepened, almost... uh, sensual-seeming voice, and homura completely ignoring madoka's fear. it feels like they twisted her character extremely suddenly and it throws the viewer on a loop. they could've gone with that ending without making such drastic and sudden changes to homura's character, and if they were planning on doing that, why did they not give us more buildup? buildup that wasn't extremely cryptic that you have to scan and search every detail to get a clue? something i love about rebellion is that every time you watch you find something new, but how come some of the only clues illuding to devil homura's existence are in the op? it's odd. why didn't they go with something like making the incubators run the law of cycles? they were the ones at fault for causing it to be created. but honestly, the incubators cannot be trusted with anything, which is why it'd make sense for a magical girl to run the law of cycles, but if homura and madoka had the combined power to do so, what if they just remade the law of cycles so it was less unfair to madoka...? i don't know. either of those possibilites would make more sense than what happened.
something else that kind of irks me about it is that they demonized(literally, lol) homura's love for madoka. homura is very much a canon lesbian, and it's incredibly discomforting to me that they made her seem, outwardly to the viewer, so selfish...? please don't get me wrong, i'm not ACTUALLY calling homura selfish -- i know the entire akumura facade is a mask she put on, but like, it's so much more blatantly sinister than she is in the series when she's putting on the coolmura facade. it's going to really confuse the viewer and see every single one of her actions from the entire series in a completely different light, INCLUDING stuff that happened in rebellion itself. like the genuine sadness homura felt, the way we saw into her soul and felt her pain, that genuinely made a lot of people i've seen think that it was ingenuine upon first inspection... they made homura turn "evil" out of her love for madoka, as if it's a bad thing to fall in love, and as if love for another girl was what corrupted her soul gem... i understand that gen urobuchi probably wanted to explore that kind of path where love leads to obsession or whatever, but homura was selfless to a fault, constantly trying to force herself away from the others in order to not get attached, and deeply afraid of seeming creepy and predatory and scaring(she said this herself), which is exactly what she ends up doing at the end, and i feel so awful that they did that to her... how is the viewer supposed to know what her true motives are at that point? it gets all scrambled up after they did that huge plot twist. i'm going to address another thing super quick before people jump in my ask box over this, i understand also that it would make sense for homura to be obsessed with madoka, but in the series, it was never shown in this light, and like i said, if they were going to do this, why'd they even have the purification scene at the end at all? the buildup is all wrong . it also just made me upset that this ending caused SO many people to start literally believing homura is evil because of her actions at the end, and it made people become even more vehement on their beliefs that homura is obsessive and ps*cho...
i was really confused when i watched it for the first time (and also sobbing hysterically, literally, my funniest rebellion story as someone who has genuinely watched the movie 40-ish times, i remember vividly the first time i watched it i started sobbing on my hands and knees on a yoga mat in my mom's room). also like, just to prove my point a teensy bit more, the ending was so ambiguous and out of nowhere that one of the first google results to "madoka magica rebellion" is "madoka magica rebellion ending explained" because it shocked people so much that that was the first thing they needed to google. also, the fact they left us on such a vague cliffhanger and then abandoned the movie series for a total of 8 whole years only to make a sudden comeback in god's holy year of 2021 was almost cruel. LIKE GUYS I JUST FINISHED UP MY DEVIL HOMURA HEADCANONS IT TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH!!!
...anyways, um, i really have to address the sexualization. madoka magica, previously, was a series that avoided fanservice in the show, at least, but why did they make akumura's design look like that...? it shows an unsettling amount of skin and like, every three seconds in the end they're focusing intensely on her lips and her eyes and... it's almost like the writers forgot she was 14, but they never seemed to forget that in the series? what happened????? in the transformation scene, we get closeup views of homura's thighs and back and stuff and it's all open everywhere... they made her tights into thigh-highs... in the whole series, even when she went to school, she always wore tights, and she was wearing tights in her magical girl outfit too... they absolutely deliberately did that to sexualize her further so they could make official art with her thighs out. speaking of official art that unsettles me, why does so much of the official art make the whole outfit just glued to her body and you can see all the shading on her features... it's just. ugh. anyways.
i went off a LITTLE too much on this and i know this is probably gonna get me some weird glances in the fandom and i am open to hearing other people's opinions but i don't think i'll ever stop disliking the effect this plot twist had on the fandom's interpretation of homura and although i'm like UNDENIABLY incredibly hyper excited for the next movie, i'm kind of...nervous for what this is going to bring? i don't want this next movie to cause the same amount of discourse the ending of rebellion did and i legit just want to see homura happy. another one of my main issues with the ending is just that homura is SO unhappy when she literally deserves to be happy SOOOOOOO BAD and just take a break from all the loops ... i'm Praying to madokami out there that that's what happens.
i know this is all really funny coming from someone who draws devil homura on a regular basis and literally writes her, but like... i'm a lesbian i'm allowed to<3
ANYWAYS thanks for listening this was a fun ask!!!
#asks#neorattz#rambles#analysis#rebellion tag#IM DEADASS AFRAID TO DROP THIS#like... something i was too afraid to mention is that i Have unlisted disorders that are heavily stigmatized#and the reason why they are unlisted is literally bc of that#and i feel like i'm allowed to have a negative stance on this kind of thing because of that#not that someone who doesn't have those things isn't allowed to have these opinions OR opposing opinions but like#i've seen some people choose to cope through devil homura which like.#i get that.#and then i've seen other people use devil homura as an example on why homura is an obsessed psycho girl who only loves madoka#and hates everyone else#which is also partially where my issue stems from.#it's complicated. just like the ending of rebellion!!!!! ...goddess help me...
This fucking episode. *deep breath* This... This episode is where I'm expecting to get some serious hate. Let me just get this out of the way right up front:
I. Hate. Zemo.
I do not find him sympathetic, or funny, or charming. I find him creepy and annoying. I did not like him in CA:CW and I do not like him in TFATWS. If you are pro-Zemo, you are not going to like my version of this show from here on out. Just find something else to read and don't bother me about it. You've got the actual canon, so go enjoy that.
Got it? Good. Now, on to the main event!
Episode 3: The Power Broker
First of all, Sam doesn't let Bucky walk in there alone. No matter Bucky's (flimsy and nonsensical) argument, Sam's like "hell no. I go in with you, or you don't go in." The main reason for this isn't to keep Bucky from breaking Zemo out of prison (with decent writing, he would never do that) - it's so that Sam witnesses Zemo taunting Bucky with/about the trigger words. because Zemo is a piece of shit.
Since he doesn't know the full story, Sam is confused, but he files this interaction away to ask Bucky about later. He's listening to Zemo acknowledging that Bucky was "not conscious for most of [his] imprisonment" (which, yes, clearly refers to the time he spent frozen, but can also mean while he was under their control as TWS/"The Asset" - also, key word: imprisonment) and when he calls Bucky a means to an end, Sam scowls, looking ready to go off on him, but he waits. They've got more important issues.
Neither of them entertains the thought of breaking Zemo out for even a nanosecond. He does that shit himself. And literally the only reason I'm sticking with him getting out at all is because I want to address some truly egregious moments linked directly to him in the show. Zemo makes them think he's setting them on the trail when really he's just sending them to his motor pool. Bucky and Sam are confused until they see Zemo in his stolen guard uniform, then they're both angry and want to ship him right back to prison, but he strikes a deal with them: "My help for my temporary freedom. Creating super soldiers cannot be allowed to continue; let me finish my work, and then do with me as you will." He has no intention of going quietly back to prison, obviously, and they're not stupid enough to believe otherwise, but they believe they can keep him on a short leash, so they agree for now. Anything to bring down the Flag Smashers and whoever created them.
After the title, we cut to Raynor on the phone in her office. She's agitated, fiddling with things on her desk. "No, sir," she's practically growling, "it was disrupted. - Walker did! - It's not my fault your new attack dog got off-leash!" She pauses, huffs, and says more calmly, "No. Of course not. I'm sorry. - Well, I don't see how, with the new Cap strutting around barking orders! - What am I supposed to do? Tell Captain America in front of a dozen witnesses that he can't have his predecessor's favorite pet because we're not done reprogramming him? I didn't see that going over too well. I made a call. - No. No, no, no, we can still use him. The work's not finished, but he still trusts me. He'll be back." A pause as she listens. Angry again, she snaps, "What do you want me to do, shove a tracker up his ass? He'll be back, and we'll pick right back up where we left off! - Don't worry, sir, the Asset will be fully compliant and ready to use soon. I'll make sure of it. - Yes, sir. You, too." She hangs up and tosses her phone on the couch, grumbling, "Dick."
Cut back to Sam, Bucky, and Zemo getting going on their trip to Madripoor. On the plane, Sam wants to talk to Bucky about what he's learned so far, but doesn't want to bring it up in front of Zemo... until the notebook incident reminds him that Zemo already knows more about Bucky than he does.
After Zemo's line about the list, Sam angrily corrects him: "You mean people HYDRA used The Winter Soldier to hurt." When Zemo shrugs and his response is basically along the lines of "what's the difference" Sam is like "oh hell no."
"Those words you were reciting at him," he reminds Zemo, "what were they, Russian? They clearly meant something. They were supposed to do something. What are they?" "Sam, let it go," Bucky pleads, unable to look at either of them. "It's nothing." "You wanna drown in your guilt, that's fine," Sam snaps, "but make sure it's for the right reasons." He turns back to Zemo, who's smiling at this exchange because he's a monster and thinks Bucky's suffering is fucking funny. "I asked you a question, Zemo. What did those words do?" "They activate the Winter Soldier programming," Bucky grudgingly admits. He doesn't want to talk about it, but he's sure as hell not going to let Zemo speak for him. "Or, they did, before the Wakandans got all that shit out of my head." "It's a shame," Zemo says with a smirk. "Imagine the possibilities that come with perfect obedience." "I think you mean 'slavery'," Sam growls, "and I think you're in the wrong crowd to be looking so pleased about it. Remember that we can send your ass back to prison any time." "Of course," Zemo agrees, but with an arrogant smile that shows he doesn't believe for a second that these two have any real power over him. Still, he bides his time and sits back quietly, watching Bucky fidget with the notebook. Sam turns back to Bucky, seeing his discomfort; he won't let the topic go, though, not yet. He just softens his tone. "So, they 'activated the Winter Soldier'? What exactly does that mean?" Bucky shrugs, still not looking up. "Pretty much what he said - perfect obedience. What little consciousness they left me between cryo and the chair was squashed down, locked away. And I did whatever I was told, exactly the way they told me to." It finally clicks. He'd had his suspicions before, of course, but now Sam gets it. Visibly horrified, he stares at this quiet, broken man, and finally sees the truth of what he'd been through for 70 years: "They stripped away your autonomy. Shit, Bucky, they didn't even let you be a person. That's..." He swallows, looking like he'll be sick any minute. "That's awful, man. I'm so sorry." When Bucky tries to shrug it off and downplay it again, Sam gets angry. "Look at me!" He waits; it takes a few seconds, but Bucky reluctantly looks up and is surprised to see just how upset Sam is on his behalf. "It wasn't your fault. None of it. When Steve said you didn't have a choice, I had no idea... You really, truly had no choice; not even the ability to choose. That's horrifying." "I doubt it would make much difference to the people he's killed," Zemo points out snidely. "Or their families. Let's ask Tony Stark, shall we?" "You shut the hell up," Sam growls. He watches Bucky flinch and make that face - the face he's starting to really fucking hate - that says he agrees with Zemo. Bucky still can't see things the way Sam does; he still feels the guilt and shame, and even when he himself pointed out his lack of agency under HYDRA, it didn't click for him that Sam is right, not Zemo.
It's too much, too soon. Sam sees that and decides to change the subject, to give Bucky some time to process. He nods at the notebook, and they have their little Marvin Gaye debate, where Sam is over the top about it on purpose, because Bucky needs the distraction.
Of course, Zemo ruins it by opening his big mouth again and reminding Bucky of more trauma: his time fighting in WWII. That's why Sam latches onto the bit about Madripoor; to keep the focus not only on the task at hand, but off of Bucky's past that he clearly still can't cope with.
"James... You will have to become someone you claim is gone." Sam is officially ready to throw Zemo out a window. đ The only reason he doesn't jump to Bucky's defense again and basically tell Zemo to fuck himself (in a PG-13 way đ) is because Bucky's, as Sam pointed out in ep2, a grown-ass man, and because he's just learned how few decisions this poor man has been able to make in his life. Sam doesn't want to come across as another "handler," deciding everything for him, even if he does think this plan is stupid and needlessly cruel.
At the bar, when asked if he wants "the usual", Sam just casually waves the bartender off like "nah". Zemo already said they had business to attend to, so it's not like anyone would be suspicious that now's probably not a good time to be doing weird shots lol. (wtf even was that? I'm not sure I want to know, but...what part of the snake did he drop into that drink?)
Sam's not an idiot (I'm really so sick of this trend of turning intelligent characters into morons because the writers can't think of any other way to move their plot along) so his cell phone has been off this whole time. No sudden call from Sarah to put them all in danger. There was really no point to that, anyway; Sharon likely would have killed Selby for talking about Nagle with or without the excuse of "saving" Sam and Bucky. I mean, it's not like they know who fired that shot, ever.
"They cleared the Bionic Staring Machine," Sam still jokes, but he follows it with, "and they think he's a mass-murderer." "They think?" Sharon stares at him incredulously. "Didn't he kill pretty much everyone he's ever met?" "Wow." Sam glances back at Bucky. "She really is awful now." To Sharon, he adds, "You met Steve; do you really think he'd have defied 117 countries to protect someone evil?" "He did it for Bucky," she points out. "Let's face it - Bucky could blow up half the planet, and Steve's loyal-to-a-fault ass would still take a bullet for him." "You know I'm sitting right here, right? I can hear you." "Look, I don't think you're evil, Bucky," Sharon assures him. "But I know you killed a lot of people for HYDRA." "I'm not denying it." "He didn't have a choice," Sam snaps, glaring at them both. "But we're not getting into that right now. My point is, the government's afraid of Bucky, and they still pardoned him. All you did was steal something. I'm sure they can be persuaded to see reason." "The day the US government sees reason," Sharon quips, rolling her eyes, "is the day I sprout real wings and fly off into the sunset." "Careful, Icarus," Bucky mocks with a smirk, "the sun and brand new wings don't exactly go together." Then he shrugs and glances at Sam. "But she's not wrong."
At the party that night, it takes a few minutes (grumpy old man Bucky's not sure how to feel about the music lol) but a peek of pre-war Bucky comes out to play: they were told to "blend in", so he dances. At first he's just bobbing around alone looking stoic and out of place, but soon he's smiling and dancing between two attractive people - one male, one female. Sam is surprised, but before he can tease him for it, Sharon comes to get them all. Even she's a little "wait what?" at Bucky having a little fun lol. (recovery is not linear, guys. trauma doesn't mean "perpetually miserable, no fun, doesn't even know how to smile." in my TFATWS, Bucky gets his lighter moments; real ones, not humor at his expense)
When they find Nagle, Bucky's the one who notices and opens the secret door, while Sam keeps an eye on Zemo. Bucky catches Zemo trying to grab that gun; closes the drawer on his hand before opening it and taking the gun away. "Nice try." Nagle tries to get away while there's only one person watching him, but Sam catches him and forces him back into his seat. With a bruising grip on the back of Zemo's neck, Bucky drags him back over to where he and Sam can both keep an eye on him. Nagle is killed in the shootout as they're trying to escape; Zemo still runs off, blows shit up, and comes back with the stolen car so he's not totally useless.
I had no problem with Zemo being the one to kill Nagle; Nagle was the worst and def had to die, and Zemo has never had an issue killing anyone. Where I took issue with this scene was Bucky and Sam being dumb enough to let Zemo wander and get his hands on a gun. Nope. Not happening.
Anyway, shootout! Explosions! Funny banter! The seat thing, which is my favorite nod to CW ever lol... And then the conversation on the plane...
"You okay?" "Yeah." Sam sighs. "Just thinking." "About how to get Sharon that pardon you dangled in front of her?" He shakes his head. "About how Nagle referred to 'The Winter Soldier Program" like it was some kind of after school club; like you weren't standing right there. And 'the American test subject' like... Like Isaiah wasn't even a real person." He turns to face Bucky, looking angry and weary. "Makes me wonder how many times... How many times are we gonna run around in the same circles before people learn? And how many people need to get crushed underfoot in the meantime?" "Did you really just equate me with Isaiah?" Bucky frowns, not sure how to react to that. "That man is a hero." Sam opens his mouth to say something, but his phone goes off and Zemo approaches at the same time, effectively cutting off their conversation.
When they get to Riga and Zemo tries to guilt trip them over Sokovia, Bucky deadpan reminds him, "Neither of us were involved in that fight." "I doubt you'd have been much help if you were." He shrugs. "Probably not. But I like to save my guilt for events I was actually present for. It's a thing." Zemo laughs. "Fair enough."
Bucky goes on his walk, and meets up with Ayo.
hi! i hope you don't mind me asking you, but you're the only mdzs fanfaction author i read regularly. can you please explain how their nicknames work? like da-ge, shijie, a-yuan etc. i literally do not understand it all. sorry if this a hassle or rude but i'm really not sure how to go about learning this any other way.
I can only give you based on my rudimentary understanding, but basically, these are form of address, not nicknames. Itâs all a matter of prefixes and suffixes that you mix and match depending on how people are related to each other. So unlike American nicknames, where someone is called âNicknameâ by EVERYONE no matter who, these arenât ânicknamesâ, this is just how people call each other, and who says what depends entirely on who is speaking.Â
Note: Chinese uses âfamilialâ terms to refer to people are not actually part of their family, often as a measure of respect. Someone younger is much more likely to call someone older with a familial term, because itâs considered rude for a younger person to call an older person by name.Â
People can definitely correct me if Iâm wrong, and also this is the SUPER BASIC MDZS-specific version.
Familial names:
"geâ means âolder brotherâ, while the prefixes are numbers
âda-geâ = oldest brother (âfirst brotherâ)
Nie Mingjue, since heâs the oldest of the sworn brothers AND the oldest of the Nie brothers. However, no one older than him would everÂ
âer-geâ = second brother
Lan Xichen as part of the three sworn brothers, but he could also be called da-ge by Lan Wangji since heâs the oldest Lan brother (except Lan Wangji would NEVER be so informal - though Lan Xichen might refer to himself as da-ge in that context)
âsan-geâ = third brother
Jin Guangyao, by Nie Huaisang. No one else would call him this because the only person he is an âolder brotherâ to is Nie Huaisang.Â
Interestingly enough, I believe Madame Yu is also called âsanâ as a prefix by JFM sometimes? (he calls her âsan-niangâ, meaning third lady) so she has two older siblings
âgegeâ means âolder brotherâ without specification. used by younger people to respectfully call older people who they donât have a specific connection with. can also be used commonly by girls as a nickname for their boyfriends, so you can guess why the Untamed fandom found it so funny when Wei Wuxian tricked Lan Wangji into calling him âWei-gegeâ
â-xiongâ is the somewhat more formal suffix used to mean brother as well, though it can also just mean âage-equivalent peerâ (men only!). can be used with either the last name or the first name, depending on how close the characters feel.
âjieâ means âolder sisterâ. you can use all the same prefixes as aboveÂ
Wen Qing would be Wen Ningâs jie or (more often) jiejie, because it sounds nice to repeat sounds. Similarly, Jiang Yanli would be jiejie or even da-jie for Jiang Cheng
for canon-specific reasons, Jiang Yanli would NOT be âjiejieâ for Wei Wuxian - see below
âdiâ is âyounger brotherâ and âmeiâ is younger sister. same prefixes.
Both Nie Mingjue and Jiang Yanli might call their younger brothers their âdidiâ (same repetition of sounds).Â
if you did an age-swap or gender swap, someone might be called âmeimeiâ, but actually I donât think we encounter any younger sisters in all of MDZS??
âshi-â refers to martial family, aka âsame sectâ rather than âsame familyâ
Wei Wuxian refers to Jiang Yanli as âshijieâ (aka âolder sister from the same sectâ). It is a deliberate distancing method. Note that Jiang Yanli calls him âdidiâ as if he were her younger brother, but he calls her âshijieâ.
We know Jiang Cheng is younger than Wei Wuxian because he is Wei Wuxianâs âshidiâ (younger brother from the same sect) and Wei Wuxian is his âshixiongâ (older brother from the same sect).Â
âa-[name]â is an endearment, the sort of cute nickname you give to your baby siblings or your kids and your significant others. Also just used for kids or lower class people in general, I think? So we have Jiang Yanli using A-Xian for Wei Wuxian, but also A-Qing or even A-Tong just using that as their name.
-
I have left out a lot (donât get me started on how to call someone âuncleâ since it depends on exactly what TYPE of uncle, and I refuse flat out to explain the gongzi/guniang/ALL THAT) but these are the ones you asked about. There are guides for all of this online that are probably much more helpful than me :)
#mdzs meta#Anonymous#FUCK TUMBLR FORMATTING#why would you allow indented lists when typing#and NOT allow them when posting???#fuck it I give up
in regards to what you pointed out a few posts ago, ngl one of my least favorite fandom things is when they make Kaminari the Har Har Stupid Joking ADHD Bi Playboy Who Is Never Serious Trope. like, he's very smart, 'worst in ___ area of a UA course' is very impressive and I don't remember if it even said that or just that he was studying with some other students, worried about his grades overall, calls himself stupid with implied insecurities about it, and didn't think he was very smart compared to the other people in the course. quirk overuse makes him loopy, incoherent, and think everything's funny. and yeah, he's a bit of a flirt and made a few perverted comments and actions that he clearly didn't think through that well. I'm pretty sure he's not ever stated to be bi in the manga because it was written by a coward, so I think people should think more about why they're associating and pairing together the idea of "hot flirty playboy who if legally able would sleep with everyone he meets" with emphasis or joke in the captions of whatever the content is on him being bi. I don't think this is inherently bad, even put together, but the execution feels kind of :/ and shallow. and I mainly just wish they'd pause to consider if there's any reason (subconscious or intentional) why one of those makes them think about the other, and at the very least lean back to see if they're blatantly making those traits centric around each other and tweak how they're showing them a little. Part of this is also because it's basically his fanon sexuality, but then they stick together "oh he's bi and everyone thinks that" and "he's made flirty or perverted comments and actions in canon at some point" and then mentally exaggerate and have this Canon Image of him as *waves hand at above* and I don't think that's happening consciously in most cases but. again. Cookiecutter Bi Party Playboy Who's Made a Date Offer to Everyone In The Building. not a flirty Person or a Playboy who is bi and flirts with more than one genders
I myself headcanon him as adhd and while the exact sexuality depends on my mood I think of/have him as bi in a lot of my content, but it's the same thing with why non adhd people see how he acts and label "adhd!" Especially about comprehension speed and derpy acting and intelligence and attention span jokes/tropes. Again, not bad in and of itself, but the specific parts of his behavior that make them think he's adhd, or that they start making jokes about or Ha Ha ADHD'ing, or that they think is why we project ADHD on him, (which they aren't necessarily wrong about, but like right in a really disrespectful look at how funny this is oh look squirrel way that's only funny when adhd people are doing it and it isn't all mocking like that) when they see other people calling him adhd, are the wrong ones, I think, and it shows in their characterization of him.
I'm not saying that any of those traits are bad in a character, but as a queer adhd girl with very high annual test scores and Gifted Kid Intelligence but extremely poor grades, focus, and brain damage (admittedly nothing like his, it was a longterm passive thing that mainly just made me have a Lot of Really Bad headaches, and closest thing it did to me was make me sluggish and emotional on bad days and also techincally have the potential kill my language bit if left untreated or the surgery messed up, which it didn't, and it won't be a problem again. but even after explaining that it wasn't cancer or any sort of tumor, and after seeing it do very little at all to affect my behavior outside of irritability and performance, because y'know, constant migraines, gone after the surgery but this was before that, Certain People I Was Vaguely Kind Of Acquaintances With started to treat my like I was a fragile glass thing going to to drop dead and revive myself speaking like a comic relief cartoon crazy person at any moment which was. patronizing.) I've since had surgery for, the way the fandom combines them into stereotypes and portrays them really just rubs me the wrong way- "Flirty Bi(tm) Playboy" "Har Har ADHD Can't Focus Or Get Things After They're Explained To Him, He's Still Confused And An Idiot" "Stupid Person With Brain Damage Who Can't Take Care Of Or Think For Themself And Acts Stupid And Funny For People To Laugh At" which tbh is super ableist even and especially when people irl do fit that description, and also reminds me of the Autistic Person Freaking Out And Being Dramatic sense of humor. And I know it's not helped by canon, because it done for comic relief and to limit his powers, but explored more I think it as a limitation could have been used way more interestingly than canon did and also call me biased but that quirk induced brain frying sounds at least as concerning as Izuku's quirk's backlash.
And it's a shame!! Because he's so much more interesting than that! Instead, the fandom gives me the Cookicutter Funny Bi ADHD Flirt Who's An Idiot and I am sad about it.
tbh it reminds me of what happened to percy jackson, esp with the ADHD Idiot Trope thing. which sucks because apparently it originated in the author making up stories around characters like his adhd and dyslexic kid inspired by Greek myths to tell him after running out of actual myths because it was his special interest and he wanted more. and then the series got kind of all over the place and the fandom processed that the adhd and dyslexic main character who does dumb things sometimes but is very combat smart and great at strategizing and leading gets bad grades and has trouble focusing and has, y'know, adhd, and made him the ADHD Idiot and erased his Gifted Kid girl friend's traits and ADHD and dyslexia into No Nonsense Calls Him an Idiot And Thinks He's Stupid And Has To Tell Him What To Do And Manage His Life For Him and honestly that just kind of sucks and it reminds me of what happened to fandom Kaminari. and now that I think of it people have jirou like that around him a lot too.
im fine with you answering this publicly if you want or have something to add but probably tag as ableism and maybe a biphobia mention content warning for people who don't have the energy to deal with thinking about those kinds of negative things rn because I kind of Went Off About It
I love this! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experiences đ(and double thank you for tag suggestions)đ
I couldnât agree more that a lot of fandom has messed up Kamiâs character, which is why Iâve kinda been posting more about him cause heâs just stuck in my head.
I think a lot of fandoms have trouble with characters like this, people have a hard time with duality in characters and fast/fun posts are easier to make if you flatten a character down.
The did it to Kami, they did it to Percy, they did it to Ron Weasley, they do it to Thor, the list goes on. If being the Smart One â˘ď¸ isnât your thing and you can be goofy than you get pigeonholed into the idiot trope.ďżź
I feel for Kami a lot(probably because I have adhd/brain damage too)
It sucks when youâre smart but itâs not the traditional, measurable kind of smart(even if by national comparison Kami technically is).
I got terrible grades growing up, and I pretty much got the absolute lowest gpa you can get and still graduate. But absolutely no one would have known if I didnât tell them, because Iâm not dumb.
(Itâs okay if you are âdumbâ, I love me a head empty just vibes friend. Youâre 100% valid, stil worthy of joining discussions, and should be listened to and taken seriously. This just isnât about that tho)
I joke sometimes that Iâm clever and witty but not smart, because thatâs exactly what it feels like.
I have lots of thoughts and ideas that I think I articulate pretty well, I am excellent at finding the humor in things and expressing it in a way thatâs funny to others too, and there is almost zero problems I canât find a work around. And the people in my life love it, and they love to use it.
But eventually everyone in my life finds out that Iâm not smart. They see the way I have to pause to Google how to calculate a tip, that I donât know the name of all 50 states or even where to find them on a map, or I legitimately just can not spell (if you ever see a post where it looks like I used a weird word choice itâs probably because I tried 4 times and autocorrect+Google couldnât help me and voice to text wasnât an option)
No one ever questions my intelligence until they find out about my adhd and/or catch me struggling with it. After the mask comes off itâs like they canât even hear me anymore, nothing I say could be true or matter because Iâm now just the goofy accident prone spacy girl. My family literally calls me Spacy
And ya know what sometimes I just let people think that because itâs easier, itâs easier than explaining that Iâm dyslexic and that I didnât have a single geography/history clas until 10th grade and shocker the capital of Iowa doesnât come up much by then. And itâs easier for me to laugh off losing my keys again than dwell on the fact that sometimes it feels like Iâm losing my marbles.
And I wouldnât be at all surprised if after this post I get a lot more âfact checkersâ and push back on anything else I post.(not talking about people who want to genuinely engage,yâall are always welcome, Iâm talking those people who donât wanna look it up themselves but no longer trust me to know what Iâm talking about)
Kami is a sweet brilliant boy. Heâs in a nationally high ranking school, he loves the weather channel, heâs careful about his quirk that could easily hurt his friends in combat, he has a very high emotional intelligence level, he wears dorky shirts with electricity puns on them, and he pays attention to his friends and remembers a lot of little things about them.
He wants to be a hero and he takes that seriously, and the series has tried time and time again to tell yâall that smiling and laughter are an important part of that. Kami excels at this part! So what if his history grades donât rival the top of the class, the top 5 students would struggle hard to do what Kami does.
Iida canât relax, Momos rather shy, Todo struggles with social cues, Midoriya is canonically not funny, and jfc where to even begin with Katsuki. Iâm certain theyâll all grow up to be excellent heros in their own right, but none of them are going to bring the level of joy and camaraderie that Denki can. You canât test that into someone.
Kami also just notices people differently and has any easy way of joining in with them, he doesnât struggle approaching Katsuki or Shinso. Sure he doesnât hit the the nail on the head the same way Deku does but heâs the only one who has the guts and skills to try. Also heâs not that kinda friend, heâs not looking to a save these guys but pal around with them
I think Kami 100% realizes what a special case and tough nut to crack Bakugo is, I donât think heâs just careless or too dumb realize his lifeâs at stake or whatever.
I think heâs purposely testing Bakugos boundaries all while trying to not be a threat to Katsukis actual ego and calling Bakugo out when he needs it in a way that not to serious. Kami knows how to be just goofy enough that heâs approachable. Heâs also keyed in that the way to Bakugo is through Deku, meanwhile everyone else is stuck believing the opposite.
Kami also realized how important music is to Jiro and saw an opportunity to let her display her skills and combin the two worlds she lives, and he wasnât afraid to get some back lash from her for it.
Like Deku Kami isnât afraid to be uncomfortable. You really canât teach that level of social ease, you can teach the posture and feed people a couple of lines but itâll never hit the same. Funny approachable people have spent a lifetime learning the craft, usually out of necessity.
Itâs actually what gives me the biggest adhd vibes from him, because adhd is (speculated to be) a dopamine deficiency disorderďżź. People with adhd are constantly trying to raise their dopamine levels, and that means looking for praise and reward and nothing makes the human brain light up faster than postative human connections.
Adhd children struggle a lot with connecting with peers and often find making people laugh a fast way into peopleâs circles and makes it more likely people will overlook being interrupted or spaced out on.
Also adhd people are pretty much forced by their own brain structures to be genuine in all they do, low dopamine levels make it very hard to do things you donât enjoy because there no promise of dopamine from the activity and you donât have enough to spare, plus impulsiveness makes it really hard to not show when you do or donât enjoy something.
I agree that Kami is also painted as overly perverted at times, heâs a little flirty but in a fun casual way but itâs not the foundation of his personality and itâs really mellowed out over the course of the series.
And while I subscribe to the bi hc from his interactions with Jiro and Shinso, we should all be very mindful that we donât lump these characteristics together. The are separate facets of his personality that are not dependent on each other in anyway.
Kami deserves all the respect and love, I canât wait to see our electric king again đ¤âĄď¸đ¤
Do you have any fics with Jason just being a Broâ˘ď¸? Or any with him rejoining the family after UTRH?
For the sake of this post not being too long, I am going to rec only one fic or series from an author, but all of these authors are great writers so I recommend checking their other works as well. Hope you will enjoy this fics as much as I do!
1. Jason and Damian being bros
1.1 Bet on it by Lysical Â
Even Damian could admit that his older siblings occasionally had their uses. __
"I need your assistance," Damian said, voice low and tense.
"No," Jason replied, and hung up.
Short but adorable story of Jason helping out Damian to hide something from their father, just like big brothers out to do.
1.2 Cracked Foundation by Cdelphiki  Â
The last thing Damian expected to happen when he ran away from home was to spend a day crammed into a small space with Jason Todd. Â His father's second son was a black sheep. Â An outcast. Â An angry, insanity driven criminal who enjoyed screwing with the batfamily in every way he could. At least, that's what Damian thought. Â Maybe he was wrong about Todd.
Perfect hurt/comfort with a lot of family feels and Damian and Jason bodning. Bonus points: Jason actually apologizing for shooting him; exploration of Bruceâs relationships with them both too.
1.3  Good Grief by lysiabeth        Â
âI know who you are, you know. I got my degree at GCU.â The girl says, eyes boring into Jasonâs chest as if the red bat were still plastered on it, and Jasonâs back stiffens.
âRight.â Jasonâs teeth click together as he closes his mouth. Heâs eighteen-hundred miles out from Gotham, and of all the Goddamn vet centres he could have broken into itâs probably the only one around that knows anything about his city.
WIP with 8K words so far but worth early reading and bookmarking/subscribing. Case fic, plus Damian and Jason bonding as siblings through Talia? Leviathan also plays a part in this story? Hell yeah.
1.4 Jason and the Three Terrors by Cdelphiki        Â
One moment, Jason was peacefully sleeping, perfectly content with his life with the League of Assassins. Â Okay, so maybe not content content, but he wasn't unhappy, either. Â Then Talia woke him up at 2 am, threw three children at him, and told him to get them to America and far away from Ra's al Ghul.
What the fuck.
The last thing he wanted was to see Bruce. But with three brats relying on him and no Talia, there weren't many options for sanctuary. He just didn't expect the kids to grow on him so much in two short weeks.
A superb AU where Jason helps Damian escape League of the Assassin (against his wishes and with two unwanted additions to boot, which is half the pleausure). They arenât brothers, stictly speaking, at the start of the fic, but become them as the story progresses.
Itâs a WIP but it has 50K already and it will be so much more. I am excited with every update and Iâm sure youâre gonna be, too.
2. Jason being a brother to Cassandra
2.1 Nests and Cages series by LanternWisp, Lysical starting with Needles or Pins Â
Jason Todd's journey back to the Batfamily. Takes place in the Frankenstein's monster of a canon I've stitched together. Each plot is rather self-contained, but the fics do flow into one another
Jay and Cass are bio siblings, and Jasonâs slow return to the fold. I love this series, and I think itâs one of the greatest take on Lady Shiva being Jasonâs mother too.
2.2 Didymous  by  Hinn_Raven
Didymous: adjective: growing in pairs or twins.
Cassandra and Jason are born twins, raised by their father to be killers. Two heads are better than one.
Itâs a great AU with Jay and Cass being biological siblings.
2.3 the patron saint of the lost causes series by evanescent
Pre-Flashpoint AU based on canon what-if Lady Shiva was not only Cassandra's biological mother, but Jason's, too. Mostly focuses on Cass and Jason's relationship, and how that fact changes the dynamics in Batfamily.
It is also a great series with Cass and Jay being biological siblings and I recommend reading every fic of this series.
2.4 Rebirth by Ionaperidot        Â
"The boy is clearly ill, and while sheâs almost certain that he is, impossibly, Jason Todd, almost is not good enough. She canât drop heartbreak on her belovedâs doorstep, and she canât run the necessary tests when Damian is vulnerable to her fatherâs wrath. Thereâs no way around it. Heâll have to come home with her."
Unexpectedly in charge of a second son, Talia struggles to raise her children without unwanted attention from the Demon's Head.
An AU where Talia is the one who unites Cass and Jason. It also contains Damian, and heâs a little brother to them both.
3. Jason and Duke being bros
3.1 Bats are Dorks by  Reah22        Â
Duke hadnât meant to literally trip and fall on to Jason. He really hadnât. For the record, he blamed Steph. It was probably one of her old pranks that she forgot to take down. That, or she deliberately left it up for someone to trip over in the dark.
Just Duke and Jason, hanging out. Super nice.
3.2 oh, where do i begin? by LazuliQuetzal
âNo, no, nothingâs wrong,â Jason says. âWeâre a-okay. Just peachy. Good times.â
âOh,â Duke says, lamely, working himself out of crisis mode. Thereâs an awkward silence for a moment before he speaks up again. âWhy did you call?â
âRight, right," Jason mumbles, which seemed a little out of character to Duke. His sort-of wayward brother was generally intimidating, even when he wasn't trying to be. "Uh, Dick said that you had a guinea pig when you were younger. How do you take care of a guinea pig?â _____
AKA, not-exactly accidental guinea pig acquisition
Absolutely adorable short story about Jason going to his little brother for advice.
3.3 rockstar au series by addiebey starting with disconnect:
jason and duke bond. dick just doesn't get it, but what's new?
Another great no-capes AU. Only two fics from the series, both under 1k, are focused on Duke and Jason, but they are so great. The whole series is, actually, though itâs not finished. I am just grateful even this much exists, but I am definitely bookmarking and subscribing it in case there will be more. Please give this series the attention and praise it deserves.
There are, alas, not many Duke and Jason-centered fics. Though there is another one I wanted to recommend, about Jason training Duke, but I canât find it for some reason. It was short and funny, and if anyone recognizes this description, I would be glad if you told me.
4. Jason and Dick being bros
4.1 i was naive and hopeful and lost by heroics (figure8)
Clark and Bruce take in a troubled teen.
The The Fosters AU no one asked for.
Itâs a part of the series which is one of the best no-capes AU Iâve read, if not the best, and itâs a great family-focused fic with a good parent Bruce. The road for Jason to become Dickâs and the rest of the kidsâ brother is slow but greatly written.
4.2 To Reconcile by CasualDanger   Â
âBabs slapped me at your funeral.â Â Jason goes to laugh, but itâs just a cough and his mouth barely even twitches up. Â âShe hated me in that moment. Â I mean, really, really hated me, like I did Talia after I found out Damian had died. Â And I wondered,â his voice cracks, eyes glassy now, âdid you hate anyone when I was gone? Â Because I was gone?â
Short and emotional fic where Dick and Jason open up to each other during pressing circumstances.
4.3  Five Times Dick Grayson Read about Jason Todd in the Newspaper by Engineerd       Â
If Dick hadnât been special ordering the Gotham City Gazette, he wouldnât have found out for - well. Years, at this rate.
Short and very full of emotion story. I love the exploration of Dickâs almost unchanging attitude toward Jason - well, unchanging right before the last time he would read about him (or almost the last time). Theyâre not really close here, and wonât grow closer, but sometimes siblinghood is like that.
4.4 The View From Jade by lowflyingfruit        Â
Being transported to the past is not the sort of thing one normally expects. But this having happened, and with no easy way back, Jason's determined to make the most of it. Though the Bat still stalks Gotham's streets, the city's crime is run by the mobs instead of the rogues. There's no Joker yet.
There's no Robin.
Maybe there shouldn't be.
Time Travel Jason&Dick focused AU! One of the best time travel fics where they actually change stuff even if it doesnât transit to their universe - for exception of their more strong brotherly relationships.
5. Jason and Stephanie being bros
5.1 this time, the loser wins by parkerstorms
They were two sides of the same coin. Â They understood each other. Â It was nice. Â It was a downright relief. Â Sheâd never had a big brother before.
Thereâs not a lot of Jason and Steph being bros stories I have not mentioned before, but this one is one of them, and a great one too.
6. Jason and Tim being bros
6.1 Bonding Habits of Robins by  GoAwayOlivia        Â
Giving each other shit is how the bat brothers show they care. Jason and Tim do it particularly well.
Itâs a funny and nice fic with exactly whatâs said in the summary.
Thereâs a lot of fics with Jason and Tim being bros but my memorie went blank when I tried to recall. Which is not a statement about their relationships or quality of fics that depict them, itâs just sometimes my memory doesnât work properly. This is the case with the Jason and Steph, too. As soon as I remember or discover new fics about their relationships, I am going to update this post or maybe create a new one just for the three of them. Weâll see!
7. Batfam Jason-featured sibling relationships
7.1 If the Sky Comes Falling Down (For You)  by  lurkinglurkerwholurks
or, 5 times Jason Todd saved his siblings... and one time they saved him.
It was only by luck that Jason was still there when the bodies came crashing down the street. Bad luck, he would argue. He could hear them long before he could see them, their bodies preceded by the thunderous pounding of boots of asphalt and shouted curses. Three or four figures flashed by his little alleyway, a tight mob followed by a lone, slender figure in a streaming cape.
Summary speaks for itself. Itâs a gradual description of Jason slowly coming back to the family after UtRH and starting feeling like their brother.
7.2  this is a long drive (for three robins who don't agree on much) by  drakefeathers
(Bad Robins road trip AU!) Stephâs trip home to Gotham takes a huge detour thanks to Jason and Damianâs conflicts with airport security. Sheâs stuck driving the two brothers cross-country to reach Timâs wedding in time.
Damian, Jason & Steph bonding road trip AU that warms your heart. Seriously, if you like any of these characters, you read this.
7.3 on a thin chain of moments and something like faith series  by irnan
Jason really oughta know better than to talk to Bats.
Jason bonding with both Steph and Cass! Love it. Itâs fluff and angst, which is hard to pull off together, but it works here. It also, in places, incredibly funny. I love re-reading it from time to time.
7.4  Tremor by  LueurdeLaube       Â
Nobody can tell Jason Todd that joking about his own death is not a valid coping mechanism.
Not about Jason being a bro per se but about Batfam and Jason so I hope it counts!
7.5. the lost sidekick society by  redtruthed        Â
The batkids make a group chat.
Chaos ensues.
One of the best groupchat AU for Batfam.
A Comprehensive List of Why REFLEKDOLL is One of the BEST EPISODES
1. I mainly come to this show to watch Ladybug and Chat Noir bitch at each other for a solid 15-20 minutes and, my god, does this episode deliver.
2. âYouâd better get going before you lose your clown costume.â I C O N I C.
3. For real, confirmation that Ladybug sees Chat as as much of a goddamn clown as the entire fanbase, itâs great.Â
4. I know people get on this episode because the ladynoir banter is apparently ââmean-spiritedââ? But honestly like, banter between friends CAN sound this mean-spirited from an outward perspective while all the friends involved in it are totally fine and in complete understanding that itâs all just joking and in good fun. Ladybug really starts tearing into him (jokingly) and Chat still finishes the sequence by bouncing away yelling âSEE I WAS RIIIIIGHT!â in an upbeat, teasing tone. Like, theyâre fine. This is just how they talk to each other as friends and itâs clear neither Ladybug nor Chat Noir take their banter very seriously. (Honestly my banter with my friends can be far more scathing than anything in this episode. XD)
5. Watching Juleka and Luka interact... Itâs pure. Itâs good. :â3 Just an all around good scene. Itâs also nice to follow up on how Julekaâs been dealing with her issues since Reflekta, even though it does turn out sheâs made very miniscule progress.
6. Alyaâs galaxy brain moment of inviting Adrien to help Marinette with a fashion shoot: Makes a lot of sense and is a great way to capitalize on both the love squareâs hobbies to get them to hang out more! Itâs the single part of this episode that isnât a contrivance!Â
7. Adrienette look cute in the matching outfits. Sorry but they do.
8. Okay, the thing that is truly great about this episode is that everything about it is a massive contrivance to make the kwami swap happens. ML wants itâs fucking kwami swap and itâs going to bend over backwards to make it happen, and it is NOT shy about it and it is NOT sorry. And honestly?? I FUCKING LOVE THAT. Does a kwami swap make logical sense for it to occur without the heroes having planned for it? No. Are we going to do it anyway? YES!!!! BECAUSE A KWAMI SWAP WOULD BE FUCKING FUN!!! Thatâs whatâs great about ML, and this episode is a great showcase of MLâs priorities as a cartoon (which is probably why this episode rubs some of the fandom the wrong way). A kwami swap is illogical, but itâs fun as fuck, so the show is going to do it. Thatâs the priority above all else. FUN. AND IT PAYS OFF!
Seriously, everything is a contrivance. Why akumatize Juleka again? Reflektaâs power can handicap the kwamisâ abilities to find their humans in the commotion. Why have Marinette and Adrien change for the photo shoot? Get them to take their miraculous off. Why have them keep the kwamis in the car instead of in their pockets? So they canât find their own kwamis right away. This episode is jumping through flaming hoops to make this happen and itâs fucking gold. Might there have been a much more natural way to have a kwami swap? Yeah, sure, most likely. But literally WHO EVEN CARES cause this episode starts out fun and ends fun, and it works well enough that I donât give a flumpty. Hell, I appreciate it even MORE for not being shy about its priorities in this episode. Kwami swap fun? Then kwami swap will happen. Fuck everything else.
9. âAre you okay, Marinette?â âYEAH. HEâS TOO HOT. I MEAN--â This is a top tier Marinette flub.
10. I recognize Iâm a minority on this, but I fucking love Mayura. She is a goddamn queen. So gosh darn fabulous with the long coat and the fan. I just love it whenever she shows up so Iâm glad sheâs here. Makes the villains a touch more intimidating in this episode since thereâs two, which pairs well with Marinette and Adrien being somewhat off their game due to the kwami swap.
11. Literally any time Tikki and Plagg interact together is great.Â
12. Adrien telling Marinette to hide in the car... TTToTTT <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
13. No one ever believes me when I say Marinette is pure chaotic energy but she HECKING IS! When she finds Plagg with the cat ring, this girl does not waste a goddamn second. Will swapping powers probably mess them up? Yes, but FUCK IT PARIS IS IN DANGER AND WE NEED HEROES NOW SO GIMME THAT RING. SHE JUST DOES NOT WASTE A GODDAMN SECOND TRANSFORMING. SHE CAN TAKE ANYTHING AND ROLL WITH IT. I LOVE MARINETTE.
14. Also Ladynoireâs design is fucking choice.
15. Okay, go onto youtube right now, look up Mister Bugâs transformation sequence, and look at the way he puts on his mask.... I know right??? :D
16. This is a very personal thing, but I love seeing Adrien powered-up without the cat eyes. This is the only time you ever see it, and trust me while I fucking love the cat eyes, itâs a really eye-catching change to see him with his normal eyes here! Think about it, Ladybug has never seen her partnerâs real eyes until this episode. Itâs cool! (Marinette with the cat eyes, on the other hand, is neat as well, but I donât think she wears them as well as Chat Noir.)
17. Adrien smacking himself with the yo yo.
18. Iâve said this before but I find it absolutely adorable how, when swapped, Marinette and Adrien base their new names off of each other, rather than making up new ones from scratch. Mister Bug? Itâs Ladybug, but boy. Ladynoire? Itâs Chat Noir, but girl. Seriously thatâs adorable.
19. ADRIEN USING LUCKY CHARM AND GETTING EXACTLY WHAT HE WANTED IS ONE OF THE SINGLE FUNNIEST MOMENTS IN THE ENTIRE GODDAMN SHOW. IâM SORRY BUT IT IS. ITâS FUCKING HILARIOUS. JUST ADRIEN BY SHEER LUCK SCHOOLING MARINETTE WITH HER OWN POWER, AND THE COMPLETELY OFFENDED LOOK ON HER FACE AFTERWARDS-- ITâS PEAK ML COMEDY.
20. Iâm not the first one to make this comparison, credit goes to @buggachat on that, but Marinette in this episode is like the parent trying to teach their kid how to drive but ends up flipping their shit the second their kid touches the gas pedal. And itâs fucking funny. XâD Marinette has a strong sense of responsibility along with an incredibly specific way of how she likes to do things as Ladybug. Her process is you battle the akuma, gather info about your opponent, use lucky charm at the exact right time that only she knows in order to take them down, and then capture the akuma and/or amok. Her routine is pretty broken in this episode, since itâs now Adrien who needs to do all those things, so that combined with Marinetteâs acute awareness of Adrien being a Child Who Causes Problems On Purpose has her veerrryyy on edge this whole episode and itâs just fun to watch. Her asking Adrien if they should switch back, correcting him every time he mis-speaks about how to do Ladybug correctly. Itâs not a side of Marinette we get to see every day!
21. Additionally, getting to watch her relax for once in a fight since sheâs now in the canonical clown costume is wonderful. I love Marinette. I want good things for Marinette. Relaxation and fun are good. Sheâs got a lot on her shoulders so this episode is nice, especially with the s3 finale in context.
22. Yknow, I can very happily buy that chataclysm doesnât work on sentimonsters, since itâs already been established that Miraculous magic can protect from chataclysm. (See: Miraculer)
23. Iâve written already about why Mister Bug wasnât actually bad with the ladybug miraculous, so Iâll only touch on a couple of those points again. But it is weird to me how people cry about Mister Bug being shit at the ladybug miraculous when heâs so clearly not? He just has a lot of stuff to think about that he usually doesnât have to worry about cause itâs not his job. When to use lucky charm, HOW to use lucky charm, when to use miraculous ladybug, capturing the akuma once itâs released, capturing the amok. He just quite literally never has to put thought into any of that so itâs pretty understandable that he doesnât have a handle on it just, automatically. Meanwhile, Marinette doesnât have a ton of extra things to think about with the cat miraculous, AND sheâs canonically naturally talented with handling different miraculous, so itâs very believable that sheâd be fine? I get people donât like that cause they have a problem with Marinette (and any WOC) being competent in general, but sheâs just a talented girl. We see her take and roll with anything to stop the villain in every episode of the show, so thereâs not actually a reason for her to notably struggle with the cat miraculous. But hell, she actually DOES make things worse by chataclysming Reflekdoll, which might have not happened if she paused before just rushing in and using her power (after proudly declaring she is now the Team Clown). But itâs understandable that she didnât predict the sentimonster to react how it did, and I can see Adrien making the same mistake, so eh.Â
24. But my point is that in terms of this discourse, I think this episode is fine. Itâs about Ladybug and Chat Noir learning that theyâre both quite good and very comfortable in their default roles. Sheâs great at handling her job and heâs great at handling his. Thatâs a perfectly fine lesson for this episode, and itâs not super necessary for them BOTH to learn that their partnerâs job is actually super hard! The episode starts with them teasing each other about their roles, and it ends with that little bit of conflict between them being eased away due to their experiences from the kwami swap. Chat Noir is still a clown, Ladybug still is too concerned with her usual responsibilities to spend a lot of time clowning with him in fights, and thatâs okay. They both learn to relax about it. Itâs a good lesson for them to learn about each other, and it feels natural for the show to spend some time exploring their dynamic as partner heroes!Â
25. I actually fucking love how itâs established that the lucky charm works differently for different people. This episode BASICALLY CANONIZES that Marinetteâs lucky charm is so insane because SHE HERSELF, IS SO INSANE. Adrien thinks much simpler (which Iâve written about how thatâs not a bad thing in previous posts), so his lucky charm is just: You need a mirror? Okay, hereâs a mirror. And itâs actually very fun and interesting to me that his ability to use his lucky charm was handicapped specifically becuase heâs only ever watched Marinette use it. Marinetteâs lucky charms always yield wildly complicated plans, and thatâs the exact thing sheâs shouting at him the whole episode, so he expects it to be complicated and thus canât figure out how to use the mirror. Itâs only when they sit down and realize that theyâll have to think on Adrienâs level instead of Marinetteâs that they figure out what to do with it! Marinetteâs spent the whole episode basically backseat driving for him (understandably), so the fact that the resolution is her meeting Adrien at his own spot and working on his level instead of hers- Itâs a good way to wrap the episode up!Â
26. Duuzu.
27. dID HE JUST DAB?!?!
28. Oh my god he did. And people actually hate this episode, smh.
29. Marinette flirting with Chat Noir will always give me life, and we get so much of it in this episode! Her calling him Bugaboy is this perfect combo of flirtatious and teasing thatâs just very on-brand ladynoir. Itâs perfect in this episode for literally so many reasons that I donât even have time to list them cause this essay is already really long.
30. Adrien and Marinette interacting with the othersâ kwami? Wholesome. Marinette and Adrien reuniting with their kwamis? Very wholesome. Theyâre both so attached to their kwamis in different ways, and theyâre also together with their kwamis practically every waking moment of their lives. I can imagine being apart from them even for a little mustâve been a touch anxiety inducing, so itâs nice to see how sweet everyone is when theyâre reuniting!
31. Adrien says at the end that heâs not cut out to be Ladybug and honestly yâall... Thatâs okay. Adrien has his role and heâs incredibly good at his role, and Ladybug is incredibly good at hers. Theyâre both SATISFIED with their roles. Heâs not upset when he says heâs not cut out to be Ladybug, not even a little. He very happily takes Plagg back and steps back into his usual territory. Again, he wasnât bad at the ladybug miraculous. It just came with more to think about than he really wants to, things that Ladybug is very HAPPY to think about, and if their dynamic already works, then heâs perfectly happy to focus on his part and leave her job to her. Thatâs great!!!
32. Juleka getting to do the fashion shoot... Yay. :âD I just want good things for Juleka.
In conclusion, this episode is pure unbridled fun from start to finish. Itâs chaotic, itâs got top tier banter, itâs a phenomenal change of pace from the rest of the series. I actually love watching this episode with folks for the first time because seeing the look of complete shock and glee on their face as Marinette grabs that cat ring from Plagg is just FUN! And at the end of the day, this episode is a statement on three things:
- Marinette is a talented girl. -Adrien is great at his job. - And ML as a showâs priority will always, first and foremost, be fun.
And none of those are a bad thing.Â
Hope you enjoyed the essay! :D
I'm watching Beast Wars again for no reason and so you all have to hear me talk about it.
If I was personally given Rights I would first use them to erase Cheetors weird crush on Blackarachnia because it literally adds nothing to the plot or the characters. Instead I'd take full advantage of my personal headcanon and make Cheetor desperately want a big sister because I am always a slut for Found Family. Like, that scene with Una ?"Aw, she wants to be you!" Like c'mon viewing him reaching out to Blackarachnia because he desperately wants some semblance of a relationship is a lot more wholesome when it isn't romantically coded. Cheetor is Lonely, so horribly lonely, and so young seeming in comparison to the rest of the cast. He hasn't lost that love for the stars or spiraled into cynicism just yet, and I would much rather explore the ways he tries to reach out to his bitter, jaded teammates. And maybe he's left wanting, maybe he gets tired of being lonely, and maybe he fucks up trying to be like them because "he tried to prove himself." And maybe that scene where Optimus, Silverbolt, and Rattrap reach out to him has a little more weight because it isnât just Cheetor trying to be an adult, but a Cheetor that tried to be them and post Feral Cheetor has real fucking consequences and isn't just a cool upgrade.
I want that episode where Rattrap finds out they spat on Dinobotâs memory by making him into a "dishonorable" clone and goes ballistic. I want him to find the memories Dinobot stowed away and be conflicted. Is it Dinobot without the spark? Could he live with only a shade? Would Dinobot even want that? I want him to try and fail and be utterly distraught over the whole damn thing. I want him to be angry every time he sees Dinobot 2. I want Rhinox to try and fail to comfort him. I want Cheetor to sit with him, neither speaking but both knowing they're in this fucked up mess together now. CONSEQUENCES. WHERE ARE THEY. GIVE THEM TO ME.
I also just really want Blackarachnia to have closer bonds with the team??? Idk, I'm vibin well enough with her and Silverbolt but tbh I'd really just like her to have an episode where she's hanging out with someone else and Isnât A Complete Rude Person. I think that's something I actually really vibed with in Beast Machines (although my memory there is still pretty fuzzy, I'll probably have to rewatch that to say for sure) Blackarachnia could actually work with the team in a friendly and occasionally sweet way. She was capable of a blunt and angry sort of kindness. Should that happen right away? Nah of course not, she needs to get comfy with her shiny new Dumbfuck Teammates. But thereâs no real Solid Connections there other than Silverbolt, which is purely romantic. (Once again I emphasize Cheetor and Found Family)
Rhinox just needs more in general. If I had to guess the reason he was made a villain in beast machines was because he is only Meh as a Developed character after Blackarachnia shows up and takes over tech wise, not to mention rattrap is also pretty damn techy when he wants to be.(it was also probably to increase tension since his whole deal is being diplomatic but that's a separate thing) Sort of an issue when you make them scientists but don't have them specialize in anything and, more importantly, have a weakness in anything. If your character is simply the backup scientist when the other one is out of commission u gotta problem. Rhinox is stagnant personality wise, I canât honestly say anything about him changes in the whole series. He has functionally gained nothing from this perilous journey, no real trauma, no bonds he didn't already have with the team, not even an upgrade in form. Isnât rattrap supposed to be his best friend???? SHOW ME MORE THEN. Seriously if this show had let me have Rights Iâm not saying I wouldnât have loved if we had actually Really Dug In to a character arc or something about Rattrap and the concept of Honor vs Loyalty but thatâs exactly what Iâm saying lets talk about that. Season One Rattrap they played with this a little (After the whole early on âI would not send someone to do something I would not do myselfâ and âdouble agent rattrapâ WHICH NO ONE WOULD EVER BELIEVE IF THAT HAPPENED ANY LATER THAN IT DID SINCE RATTRAP IS SO ANTIPRED) and the whole Dinobot thing really wedged it in (âBut at least you know where he standsâ) AND THEN FROM MY SHODDY MEMORIES OF BEAST MACHINES ITS PLAYED WITH EVEN MORE WHEN HE FUCKING GOES TO MEGATRON BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS BEING A LITTLE BITCH TO HIMÂ
Where was I going with this? uhhhhhhhhhhhhh oh yeah LISTEN Rattrap and his morals are Very Fascinating and I really wished there was more about that. Like, he gives no shits about Doing Whatâs Right or Being A Good Person, but he rewards friendship and loyalty and not getting him killed by miles. And despite his Hatefest Dinobot he was actually really... shocked? Offended??? about Dinobot handing over the disc because youâre an asshole but youâre also our asshole what fuckery is this did all our arguments mean nothing to you. And then attempting to join Megatron in BM because he might be Evil and it might be Bad Moral Conduct but fuck morals his teammates were being shitty friends. Is that petty of him? Maybe, but if the maximals had been evil but still genuinely kind and caring towards Rattrap I donât believe he would ever leave for a second, not for all the Morals or Its The Right Thing To Do in the world. And thatâs why darkfics that still use Found Family are the best! The End.
All the characters would actually be the size of their animals because goddamit I want a tiny Rattrap that has to be carried around by the others while he screeches indignantly. Or at the very least make him just a little smaller. Just a bit. And maybe they all have a big Sleep Pile. I like physical affection and cuddling and things no I don't care if they're robots no I donât take criticism. Dinobot would have feathers fight me.
Optimus has died, been tortured, and painfully grew to like 3 times his size why doesnât he have ptsd someone give him a hug.
Could we have waited for Airrazor and Tigatron to get kidnapped???? We should have gotten more for them. Let me see them more often. LISTEN THEYâRE VERY CUTE I LOVE THEM SHUT UP.Â
WHICH LMAO BRINGS ME RIGHT BACK TO CHEETOR BECAUSE HE CONSIDERED AIRRAZOR AND TIGATRON HIS BROTHER AND SISTER AND HE THINKS THEYRE GONE FOREVER AND THEN ITS NEVER REALLY BROUGHT UP AGAIN LIKEÂ CHEETOR AND FOUND FAMILY REALLY SHOULD BE EXPLORED HERE
Silverbolt is fun, but suffers from the same problem as Blackarachnia where all you really remember about them Relationship wise is the one they have with each other. Who does Silverbolt like best among the maximals, who does he like the least? And if I'm erasing that weird Cheetor crush thing then their interactions probably have a lot less tension so... what else do they have.
Depth Charge is an unrepentant asshole and I love him. He is so hostile but it doesnât stop him from begrudgingly helping out on occasion. He also gave Optimus some backstory??? Like not as much as my greedy Character Loving hands would have wanted but GIVE ME.
Other Stuff:
Nothing will ever be as funny as Optimus being like âEvacuate the base youâre all gonna dieâ and Rhinox grabbing his fucking plant
Blackarachnia Craves PowerÂ
Cheetor suffer from Bad Bondage multiple times throughout the series, but specifically during the web I remember Tarantulas leaning over him and thinking âwow this is kind of... date gone wrong vibes??? What the fuckâ
Rattrap and Dinobot: *Spot each other from any distance* Miracle Hatemance has entered the chat
Why is Megatron wearing roller skates. Who did this. Why.
âSpider/Bird dog is hetero nonsenseâ - everyone who has to bear witness to them ever, including me the viewer
Tarantulas is completely done with any attempts to seduce him. Ever.
Airrazor tries so hard to be cool and hip oh my god she is a complete dork i love her
âFOR THE ROYALTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYâ
please be nice to Waspinator heâs trying his best
Rhinox:Â exists
Me: hello yes sir I love u wise mentor sir
Holy shit Dinobotâs death scene is a gut punch. Rattrap honestly is what makes this scene perfect. I have never seen him so respectful or emotional is a way that wasnât meant for comedic relief.
That scene, man
Tigatronâs speech about bringing beast mode and robot mode together is like foreshadowing to beast machines. Or it isnât. Idk. Would have been really nice if they, yknow,
bothered to bring up literally anything from the previous series to beast machines
 (yes its been awhile since Iâve seen Beast Machines, but I do remember that being my primary complaint.)
This series is so cheesy but Thundercats is still cheesier so its fine
Rattrap was canonically a miner at some point apparently.
Heâs also super prejudiced and honestly thatâs interesting. HONESTLY SOMETHING I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SEE DISCUSSED IN BEAST MACHINES IS THE SUPER MEGA DIVIDE IN PREDS AND MAXIMALS BUT I GUESS WE WERENâT GETTING THAT OH WELL
The âEveryone is blindâ episode was always one of my favorites and it never gets old
Upon rewatching the series I have concluded Cheetor is Babey. Which is weird because I didnât think much of him from what I remember. Shift in perspective I suppose. They really made Rhinox farting the thing that saves the day, huh. What even was season one.
BITCH THAT IS A TERRIBLE WAY TO TRANSPORT MEGATRON NO WONDER HE FUCKING CONQUERED CYBERTRON YâALL DESERVED THIS HONESTLY
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh in conclusion:
Rattrap is my new religion apparently
#Beast Wars#listen listen listen#i have a lot of feelings#honestly I doubt this will be my actual conclusion im sure ill post this and instantly remembered something else to talk about#Look I have seen very little of the transformers honestly#I watched gen1 as a kid and beast wars and beast machine#and thats it#if you dont count a couple comics I have stashed in a drawer somewhere#i do not count them#I tried to read this over again#realized i dont know how formatting works#and have decided to just post it anyway so have fun with that
Okay so I've been thinking lately: As someone in her mid-twenties I'm kinda disagreeing with all the "Reigen doesn't get any internet slang/memes" jokes. Like sure they're funny but we also need to consider that 1. this man is a millenial (and really not that old) and 2. his canon hobby is literally "browsing the internet". Anyway: Reigen is aware of what's hot online and he absolutely uses his knowledge to fuck with the kids. Acting dumb and using it wrong on purpose, etc.
i do love the idea of reigen acting dumb on purpose but i gotta say! i'm a 26-yr-old 8th grade ela teacher who spends a lot of time online but i think the digital atmosphere iâve cultivated for myself must just be super insular because i have to ask my kids what on earth theyâre talking about/referencing all the time because their circles are so massively different from mine. no joke, we talked about developments in language in my class last week, and they got to share all the ânew wordsâ they hear all the time (i shared the classic term âhomeskilletâ with them so watch out for that comeback). plus, theyâre definitely online more than i am because i, yknow, work like 50-60 hrs/week, so it makes sense they know more than me. anyway. difficult to convey those nuances through joke posts on a tumblr fan blog.Â
anyway point is i respect your hc but its funnier to me (and i think to my fiancee/co-mod, who is also a mid 20s teacher) to think of reigen as a fellow out of touch adult who has teens around him all the time speaking in innovative and confusing ways (is it projection? probably. but still funny 2 me). that said - i do still do exactly what you described and misuse slang to get on kidsâ nerves so i can see that too. i think whatâs most important is that we ALL project on reigen in our own special ways <3
