Not to rip off the plot of avatar (like i usually do) but i’d love to see Aziraphel do a hero-vilain-redemption-ark in the next seasons

Like after Aziraphale returns to heaven, it all starts with good intentions and him trying to make the difference he wanted

He makes a vow to himself that once he has done enough, he’ll reach out to Crowly

Let the demon know he made the right decision.

that is was worth it (was it?)

Only it isn’t exactly what he had expected

Only in order to make the world a better place, sometimes that means making tough decisions

At least that’s what Metatron tells him

Maybe sometimes the greater good asks for a few sacrifices?

(What was that quote again about the path to hell being paved with… ah never mind)

Aziraphale feels weird about it

like really weird

But every time he’s about to run back to earth (back to Crowly), the Matatron talks him out of it

It's a bit strange how good he is at that

But Aziraphale can't focus on that, lately everything's been a bit... blurry

“Don’t give up now Aziraphale, we’re the good guys”

And we notice (subtly, but more visibly as we go on) that the angel is slowly turning into someone we do not recognize

Up to a point where the Metatron doesnt have to coax him into doing the dirty work anymore

So that’s when the Metatron announces to him and the other angels in heaven that God is dead

As in gone

God. Is. Dead

Aziraphale doesn’t even blink when he hears the news

God is dead

But Armageddon will take place

Because they will finish what She started

It takes a while before hell responds

(It’s one thing to hate and rebel against Her. It’s another thing to hear the person who created you is dead.)

But as expected hell does NOT like this news

More importantly, most of heaven does not like the news either

sure, everyone wanted the apocalypse at one point

but not like this

Not with Her gone

Not with the archangels acting like they don’t even care

Not with the strange, uncanny power radiating of the Metatron when he speaks

The unthinkable happens: the angels leave

almost all of them do

And for the first time since the world started, angels and demons are on the same side again

Crowly isn’t even in hell by the time the first refugee angels arrive.

He’s already on his way to heaven

Because this isn’t just a lover’s quarrel anymore. Earth is in danger

Much more importantly: his angel is in danger

he finds Aziraphale already waiting for him at heaven’s entrance when he breaks in

“Crowly.” He tjirps (he looks so happy and if that doesn’t just rip him in two), “what a lovely surprise”

Crowly has to blink himself back to consciousness when he sees him again.

No time for this. No time to remember what it was like when they ware almost “us.” No time for taking in the feeling if Aziraphale smiling at him like he’s the only one who matters.

He doesn’t even notice that something is just so off about his angel

The way he stands, the way he talks, the way he breathes

“We have to go. It’s all going up in flames, angel.”

“What are you talking about Crowly, i’m perfectly content here.”

“Are you insane! Did you not hear what they are trying to do”

“Ah. I see. They told me you’d say that.”

Crowly only now starts to realize what exactly he’s looking at.

“Aziraphale”, he speaks slowly “your eyes are glowing.”

“Another great bonus that came with my promotion, thank you Crowly.”

“They’re glowing red”

“I don’t see why that’s relevant.”

Azirapha-“

Then his eyes fall on the sword in the angel’s hands.

It’s no longer burning, but he recognizes it nontheless

“Why do you have that with you.” He asks, but it’s not really a question.

And before he knows it, Aziraphale has thrown him across the brightly lit, white hall of heaven (which is pretty far)

So now his face is all bloody and his hands are trembling (just great)

And Aziraphale is standing over him, raising the sword like he had done so many years ago

“I’m so happy you’re here, dear boy. Don’t worry, It doesn’t have to end with this thing. It’s just insurance so you cannot tempt me again. It’s all going the way He said it would.”

“Who the fuck issssss He?”

“Our true God.”

“Go fuck yoursssssself.”

Aziraphale laughs, like the demon is just being silly and it sounds like his old self so much it hurts. “Oh, Come off it Crowly. Just come with me. We can fix all of this mess together.”

Crowly feels nauseous. “Why don’t you just use that thing for it’s intended purpose and get it over with.”

Suddenly Aziraphale looks confused (heartbroken?) “Crowly, what are you doing?”

Crowly just raises his chin defiantly.

“Don’t- don’t make me do this. It’s not supposed to happen like this, I don’t want to hurt you. Can’t you see that his is your last chance at redemption. Do you not understand that? We’re the good guys.”

“Issss that why half of you jumped sssssship” he growls.

Aziraphale’s eyebrows draw together “It’s-it’s okay, my dear, you are finally going to see the light like I did.”

He raises the sword higher.

He gasps

And then he drops it again

“What on earth am I doi-

The bentley bursts straight through heaven’s gates, hitting Aziraphale head on.

Crowly escapes

Maybe its the concussion

Maybe it’s the thought of what he had almost done to Crowly

But slowly the angel’s eyes turn back to brown when he wakes up

“Cro-Crowly? Oh no. No no no, hell- for heaven- what have I done. What have I DONE.”

He tries to stop the Metatron

He really does

But with the loss of his red eyes also comes the loss of his new powers.

the Metatron beats him easily

His new God is not happy

And for a second it looks like this is where it’s going to end for him.

“Aziraphale.” The Metatron hisses, slamming him down on heaven’s holy ground (it cracks open beneath his skull in the shape of a hallo). “Snap out of it.”

The angel struggles to break free. He has to escape, he has to warn earth about what the Matatron is planning.

(He has to save Crowly)

“That demon has corrupted you,” The Metatron growls. “that’s what they do. He wants you to rebel against what’s right.”

And Aziraphale suddenly smiles

“You know what happens to angels who rebel against god?”

They fall

Aziraphale sinks out of the Metatron’s grip and through the floor

Aziraphale, now part of the war against the Metatron, meets up with Beelzebub in hell (I think she and Gabriel would return to save earth). Where the other angels are already waiting for him.

It takes a bit for the other side to trust him

But the angel’s now black wings are a pretty dead giveaway about whose side he’s on

And with the former right hand of the Metatron on their side, they might actually have a chance.

Beëlzebub shows him to one of the offices, he already recognizes it.

“He’s in there?” The angel asks

“Yes”, beelzebub says

He hesitates.

“You know, he had the chance to rid himself of you many times since you arrived here

“he’d never try to hurt me.” Aziraphale mumbles “but demons… they’re not that quick to forgive”

“No, but when we do it, it means something. Can you say the same thing?”

Aziraphale swallows. “Does he know? That I’m here I mean”

“Of course he does. He follows all the updates on you.”

He walks in

he doesn’t recognize Crowly immediately

The demon has got his back turned towards him

He sees a pair of white wings

And it’s only then that he realizes who he’s looking at

“Crowly?” He croaks

The demon doesnt respond

“I- fuck- I don’t even know where to start. I’m- I’m so sor-I was so stupid, and they trick- but i still - I hurt you and I’m sorry, I’m so sor-, and and and I can never ask for your forgiveness. I just need you to -fuck, I’m so sorry, I just need you to know how sorry I am, and-“

And he feels it.

A wave of love.

The opposite of “this place feels spooky”.

Someone loves him so so so much.

slowly Crowly turns around

His eyes are still golden, like when they first met

“Do the apology dance”

hey btw if you're in the USA at  2:20 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Oct. 4, they're testing the emergency broadcast system. your phone is probably going to make a really loud noise, even if it's on silent. there's a backup date on the 11th if they need to postpone it.

if you're not in a safe situation and have an extra phone, you should turn that phone completely off beforehand.

additionally, if you're like me, and are easily startled; i recommend treating it like a party. have a countdown or something. be surrounded by your loved ones. take the actions you personally need to take to make yourself safe.

i have already seen mockery towards any person who feels nervous about this. for the record, it completely, completely valid to have "emergency broadcast sounds" be an anxiety trigger. do not let other people make fun of you for that. emergency sounds are legitimately engineered to make us take action; those of us with high levels of anxiety and/or neurodivergence are already pre-disposed to have a Bad Time. sometimes it is best to acknowledge that the situation will be triggering for some, and to prepare for that; rather than just saying "well that's stupid, it's just a test."

"loud scary sound time" isn't like, my favorite thing, but we can at least try to prevent some additional anxiety by preparing for it. maybe get yourself a cake? noise cancelling headphones? the new hozier album? whatever helps. love u, hope you're okay. we are gonna ride it out together.

i really don’t think it’s “typical dragon age fandom nonsense” for people to be genuinely upset about the world state choices. combat, level design, art direction, gameplay gimmicks, those have all varied across each dragon age game. the one thing that’s remained constant are nods to our previous choices.
