Sun makes a show of looking around for anyone overhearing, then leans in close and makes a pinching motion with his thumb and index finger. “A little.”

Y’all ever feel sympathy for other fandoms and their plights?

I’m just sitting here, happy with my Cobra Kai and Stranger things brainrot.

But the Umbrella Academy guys are so sad right now. I’ve never watched the Umbrella Academy really, though I know people who love it so I’ve seen it by proxy.

I’m straight up considering binging it all just so I can write accurate fix-it fics but to help ease the pain the fandom is feeling right now.

thinking about chapter four this fine afternoon (<- never not thinking about chapter four)

(Excerpt from Chapter 24):

“Yeah I know,” he sighed slumping back into the counter. For a moment there was silence before the shifting of shoes and the tips of his moms boat shoes appeared at the edges of his vision. She was standing directly in front of him, but Liam couldn’t convince himself to look up at her. There was another warm press as her hands came to rest against his shoulders, pressing insistently for a moment before rising higher and pressing against his jaw, encouraging him to lift his face to hers. 

“Sweetie,” she began, voice soft, “is this something to do with you and your friends?”

Damn, he couldn’t even answer that question. 

“I don’t know,” He began helplessly, “I really don’t know.” 

Finally Liam lifted his eyes to meet his moms face. When he had been younger and his hair had been a brighter blonde like hers, people often said that they looked like each other. As he got older Liam couldn’t really see the similarities, but here in the middle of the kitchen he could. The blue eyes, tinged almost red from the irritated iris surrounding them. The dried and rubbed raw pointed nose, from too many tissues. It settled with a heavy weight in his chest. She was sick. She was sick too.

I'm participating in @ficwip's virtual writing retreat this weekend and it's finally given me the gumption to push through a difficult part of A Study in Scarlet - I've written over 6000 words today, which is 🎉🎉🎉. Today's snippet is from chapter 5.

Fox is probably halfway though his datawork when there's a light tap at the door. He glances at the cracked screen embedded above the door that he jury-rigged to serve as a clock—it's way too late in the evening for it to be any of his men. "Yes?"

The door slides open—did he forget to lock it?—and reveals Master Vos, dressed in streetwear that clings to his slim body and leaves Fox's mouth dry. "Hey, Fox. Got time to chat?" His tone is light; Fox is pretty sure he could say no and be fine, but—he wants to chat with Vos. He'd enjoyed the man's company earlier; it's a treat to get to see him again so soon. "Sure thing." Vos comes in, eyes drifting over Fox's half-armored form. Fox leans forward, resting his elbows on his desk, and makes a snap decision. "Professional or personal chat?" He lets his mouth curve in a smile and is delighted when Vos snorts. "Both in the form of personally bitching about a professional thing?"

Rather than a stupidly long snippet today, here are six, out-of-context sentences from chapter 2 of lost boys. There are actually six sentences. Only six. After last Sunday, this limit was quite important to me okay?

I shuffle through more of the thick, heavy paper until I find the final drawing I’m looking for: a portrait of Simon at the top of a cliffside, eyes bright, curls destroyed to utter madness by sea breeze and salt. “You’re in luck. I am popularity personified.” We drink and laugh well into the night, until Dev tipsily bellows about lust and roses from Niall’s bedroom window, and the smuggled whisky burns our noses as we dissolve into giggles on the floor.  He feels more real to me than anybody I’ve ever met. Simon whimpers once, so softly, like he’s trying to hide it, and the wounded sound is the worst thing I’ve ever heard. I can feel his breath against my face when he says, “I missed you so much, Baz.”
